Shall we bow our
heads for prayer.
00:00:37.69\00:00:39.39
Father in heaven, we thank
You for the awesome privilege of
00:00:40.53\00:00:43.94
being in Your house of
worship on Your holy Sabbath.
00:00:43.97\00:00:46.73
We thank You, Father, that
we are able to take advantage
00:00:47.46\00:00:51.64
of this oasis in
time, so to speak.
00:00:51.67\00:00:54.82
Where there's so much turmoil
and confusion in the world,
00:00:55.37\00:00:59.84
we can get away to
this place and just spend
00:01:00.14\00:01:04.76
three hours together in worship
and in study and in prayer.
00:01:04.79\00:01:09.31
We ask, Father, that as we
open Your holy Word this morning
00:01:09.59\00:01:12.72
that Your Spirit will be present
here to speak to our minds
00:01:12.75\00:01:16.55
and our hearts.
00:01:16.58\00:01:17.74
We want to do Your will.
00:01:17.95\00:01:19.75
We want to serve as
instruments in Your cause.
00:01:20.09\00:01:23.91
And we ask that You will speak
to us, and that this might be a
00:01:24.23\00:01:27.83
reality in our lives.
00:01:27.86\00:01:29.70
We thank You, Father,
for the privilege of prayer.
00:01:30.04\00:01:32.54
And thank You for
hearing and answering us,
00:01:32.81\00:01:35.10
for we ask it in the
precious name of Jesus.
00:01:35.13\00:01:38.37
Amen.
00:01:38.40\00:01:39.84
I would like us to go
back in our minds to the period
00:01:42.84\00:01:48.17
before the
history of this world.
00:01:48.20\00:01:51.53
Actually, I would like us
to go back to the first chapter
00:01:52.29\00:01:56.82
of the book,
Patriarchs And Prophets.
00:01:57.26\00:02:00.65
The title of that chapter
is, Why Was Evil Permitted.
00:02:01.07\00:02:05.09
In other words, we're going to
go back and we're going to study
00:02:05.65\00:02:08.57
about a majestic being,
the first being which was
00:02:08.60\00:02:13.11
created by God.
00:02:13.14\00:02:14.84
His name was Lucifer.
00:02:14.87\00:02:17.79
And what I would like to do as
we begin our study this morning
00:02:18.87\00:02:23.02
is to highlight
four characteristics
00:02:23.71\00:02:28.06
which this being had.
00:02:28.09\00:02:31.84
All of these characteristics
are found in Ezekiel chapter 28,
00:02:32.53\00:02:37.69
as well as in Isaiah chapter 14.
00:02:37.89\00:02:42.13
The first characteristic
of this majestic being
00:02:42.98\00:02:47.45
which God created was
that he was full of wisdom.
00:02:47.48\00:02:53.61
Notice the book of
Ezekiel chapter 28 and verse 12.
00:02:54.26\00:02:59.17
Ezekiel chapter 28 and verse 12.
00:02:59.20\00:03:04.22
It says there...
00:03:05.07\00:03:06.22
Now it's speaking about the
king of Tyre, but the person
00:03:15.07\00:03:18.19
behind the king of Tyre is this
majestic being called Lucifer.
00:03:18.22\00:03:23.40
It continues saying...
00:03:24.00\00:03:25.37
And now comes the phrase
that I want to underline.
00:03:33.57\00:03:36.15
"...full of wisdom
and perfect in beauty."
00:03:36.18\00:03:40.20
So the first characteristic
that we notice about this
00:03:41.18\00:03:43.80
majestic being is
that he was full of wisdom.
00:03:43.83\00:03:48.86
Now the second characteristic
we also find in verse 12,
00:03:50.08\00:03:53.94
the last part of the verse.
00:03:54.26\00:03:56.36
Once again, I'm going
to read the whole verse.
00:03:56.78\00:03:58.96
"Son of man, take up
a lamentation for the
00:03:58.99\00:04:01.48
king of Tyre, and say to
him, 'Thus says the Lord God,
00:04:01.51\00:04:06.65
"You were the
seal of perfection,
00:04:06.68\00:04:09.25
full of wisdom and
perfect in beauty."'"
00:04:09.45\00:04:14.51
The second trait of
this being is that he was
00:04:15.39\00:04:19.21
perfect in beauty.
00:04:19.24\00:04:21.36
Full of wisdom
and perfect in beauty.
00:04:21.59\00:04:25.95
But then I want us to
notice a third characteristic
00:04:27.37\00:04:29.98
of this being.
00:04:30.01\00:04:31.28
It's found in Ezekiel
chapter 28 and verse 13.
00:04:31.48\00:04:35.92
Ezekiel 28 and verse 13.
00:04:36.29\00:04:39.37
Here we're told,
speaking about this being...
00:04:40.18\00:04:43.32
We notice that God
clothed Lucifer with a series
00:05:06.38\00:05:10.86
of precious stones.
00:05:10.89\00:05:12.29
In other words, this
being was incredibly rich.
00:05:12.32\00:05:16.70
Now the fourth characteristic
that I would like us to notice
00:05:18.35\00:05:21.90
is found in Ezekiel
28 and verses 13 and 14.
00:05:22.10\00:05:26.73
Particularly the
last part of verse 13.
00:05:26.76\00:05:30.08
It says there in the
second half of verse 13...
00:05:30.87\00:05:33.83
Now, we have the mention of
two musical instruments here.
00:05:44.91\00:05:48.41
Timbrels, which
are like a tambourine.
00:05:48.44\00:05:51.48
And pipes, which is a
flute like instrument.
00:05:51.51\00:05:56.05
In other words, this being
was created to be a musician.
00:05:56.39\00:05:59.62
In fact, we're told
in the spirit of prophecy
00:06:00.09\00:06:02.29
that he was not
any old musician.
00:06:02.32\00:06:04.52
He was actually the
leader of the heavenly choirs.
00:06:04.55\00:06:08.83
In other words, he had a
high position of leadership
00:06:08.86\00:06:13.65
and authority.
00:06:13.68\00:06:15.36
Notice verse 14, the
position which he held.
00:06:16.13\00:06:19.83
It says...
00:06:19.86\00:06:20.89
Notice that his position
was that of a covering cherub.
00:06:34.11\00:06:37.56
Now if you back to
Exodus chapter 25 you'll notice
00:06:38.19\00:06:40.91
that covering
cherubs were the two angels
00:06:40.94\00:06:43.30
that were at
either end of the ark.
00:06:43.33\00:06:46.12
In other words, they
were the closest to God
00:06:46.53\00:06:48.78
of any being in the Sanctuary.
00:06:48.81\00:06:51.90
In other words, he
had a very high position
00:06:52.13\00:06:54.61
of leadership and authority.
00:06:54.64\00:06:57.19
And so we find this
majestic glorious being
00:06:57.83\00:07:01.59
with these four traits,
these four characteristics.
00:07:01.89\00:07:06.58
Number one; full of wisdom.
00:07:06.61\00:07:09.23
Number two; absolutely
glorious and beautiful.
00:07:09.46\00:07:14.23
Number three; incredibly rich.
00:07:14.39\00:07:17.66
And number four;
incredibly powerful.
00:07:17.69\00:07:22.24
Now as we examine
the story of the Bible,
00:07:23.16\00:07:25.65
we discover that these traits
were not inherent with Lucifer.
00:07:25.68\00:07:31.58
In other words, they did
not belong to him by nature.
00:07:31.97\00:07:35.86
The Bible tells us that
these traits were actually
00:07:36.67\00:07:40.37
derived from God
because God was his Creator.
00:07:40.40\00:07:44.61
In fact, notice Ezekiel
chapter 28 and verse 15.
00:07:44.91\00:07:49.00
And I'm going to read only
the first part of the verse.
00:07:49.03\00:07:51.85
Ezekiel 28 and verse 15.
00:07:51.88\00:07:55.26
It says, "You were
perfect in all your ways
00:07:55.54\00:07:59.49
from the day you were..." What?
00:07:59.52\00:08:01.98
"...from the day
you were created."
00:08:02.01\00:08:04.85
In other words, all of these
things were given to Lucifer.
00:08:05.36\00:08:08.69
They did not belong to him.
00:08:08.72\00:08:10.29
They were not
inherent, they were derived.
00:08:10.32\00:08:13.56
He was full of wisdom because
the Creator gave him wisdom.
00:08:13.76\00:08:17.31
He was beautiful because
the Creator made him beautiful.
00:08:17.34\00:08:20.50
He was rich because the
Creator gave him riches.
00:08:20.53\00:08:23.29
He was powerful
because God gave him a position
00:08:23.32\00:08:26.31
of authority and power.
00:08:26.34\00:08:28.33
None of these things
existed within himself.
00:08:28.86\00:08:32.59
And of course, we know
that the Creator of Lucifer
00:08:32.62\00:08:36.48
was none other
than Jesus Christ.
00:08:36.51\00:08:39.65
We're told that in several
texts in the New Testament.
00:08:40.42\00:08:43.00
For example, John
chapter 1 and verse 3 tells us
00:08:43.30\00:08:46.80
that all things
were created by Him.
00:08:46.83\00:08:50.04
And without Him,
nothing was made that was made.
00:08:50.07\00:08:53.49
Colossians 1:16-17 tells
us that everything in heaven,
00:08:53.52\00:08:57.71
on earth, whether
principalities or powers,
00:08:57.74\00:09:00.64
or whatever, were made or
were created by Jesus Christ.
00:09:00.67\00:09:04.91
Which means that these
traits were given to Lucifer
00:09:04.94\00:09:08.40
by none other than
Jesus Christ Himself.
00:09:08.43\00:09:12.73
Now would you agree
with me that all of these
00:09:14.97\00:09:16.93
qualities were good?
00:09:16.96\00:09:18.54
Of course.
00:09:19.30\00:09:20.33
Is there anything wrong
with being full of wisdom?
00:09:20.52\00:09:23.70
No.
00:09:24.10\00:09:25.13
Is there anything
wrong with being beautiful?
00:09:25.24\00:09:28.13
Absolutely not.
00:09:28.33\00:09:29.68
Is there anything
wrong with being rich?
00:09:30.11\00:09:33.71
No.
00:09:33.89\00:09:35.00
Is there anything wrong
with occupying a position,
00:09:35.03\00:09:38.35
a high position, of
authority and power?
00:09:38.38\00:09:41.12
Not necessarily.
00:09:41.44\00:09:43.07
But we're told in Scripture
that this being, Lucifer,
00:09:43.80\00:09:48.24
developed a bitter
root in his nature.
00:09:48.27\00:09:52.43
And that bitter root is
what we may call, pride.
00:09:53.36\00:09:59.29
That was the root; pride.
00:10:00.06\00:10:02.14
But that bitter root
grew four other roots from it.
00:10:02.77\00:10:07.51
And these are what I
call, the four sins of pride.
00:10:08.43\00:10:13.51
Basically, whereas
Lucifer before lived for others
00:10:14.56\00:10:20.56
and lived for the glory
of God, now he appropriated
00:10:20.59\00:10:26.03
these things to himself.
00:10:26.06\00:10:28.34
He came to the point
where he thought that his beauty
00:10:28.64\00:10:33.80
was inherent to himself.
00:10:33.83\00:10:36.55
He came to the point of
considering that his riches
00:10:36.58\00:10:40.10
belonged to himself.
00:10:40.13\00:10:41.81
He came to the point
of believing that he had a
00:10:42.09\00:10:44.94
position of power
because of himself.
00:10:44.97\00:10:48.16
And he came to the conclusion
that because he was so
00:10:48.29\00:10:53.67
wonderful and wise, this wisdom
had come from his own heart,
00:10:53.70\00:10:59.21
from his own self.
00:10:59.24\00:11:00.67
In other words, his
center of gravity was changed
00:11:01.05\00:11:05.41
from God and
towards others to himself.
00:11:05.44\00:11:10.70
And the four qualities which
God had given for a blessing
00:11:11.38\00:11:16.66
now with Lucifer became a curse.
00:11:16.86\00:11:22.11
Let's read about each
one of these qualities
00:11:22.68\00:11:25.14
and how they were perverted
by Lucifer because he no longer
00:11:25.17\00:11:29.00
used them to focus on
others and for the glory of God,
00:11:29.03\00:11:32.37
but he used them
to focus upon himself.
00:11:32.40\00:11:35.15
Notice Ezekiel 28 and verse 17.
00:11:35.36\00:11:39.84
Ezekiel 28 and verse 17.
00:11:39.87\00:11:42.84
It says here...
00:11:43.56\00:11:44.93
Now notice that we're told here
that his heart was lifted up
00:11:59.46\00:12:03.10
because of his beauty.
00:12:03.13\00:12:04.51
The question is, who
had given him the beauty?
00:12:04.54\00:12:07.52
His Creator.
00:12:08.06\00:12:09.22
Jesus had given him his beauty.
00:12:09.32\00:12:11.90
But he came to the point
of believing that his beauty
00:12:11.93\00:12:14.67
belonged to
himself, it was inherent.
00:12:14.70\00:12:17.10
It was to bring honor
and praise to himself.
00:12:17.13\00:12:21.09
So the first thing that
he did was he became proud
00:12:21.59\00:12:25.01
because of his beauty.
00:12:25.04\00:12:26.52
That same verse tells us that
he also corrupted his wisdom.
00:12:27.01\00:12:32.08
Notice once again verse 17.
00:12:32.49\00:12:34.80
It says, "Your heart was lifted
up because of your beauty,
00:12:34.83\00:12:38.32
you corrupted your wisdom
for the sake of your splendor."
00:12:39.09\00:12:43.25
So he focuses on his own beauty
and he corrupts his wisdom.
00:12:43.28\00:12:48.69
Now the question is, what is
wisdom, according to the Bible?
00:12:49.51\00:12:53.17
Well, in Proverbs 9
and verse 10 we're given
00:12:54.18\00:12:57.29
the best definition
that I found in the Bible
00:12:57.32\00:13:00.12
on what wisdom is.
00:13:00.15\00:13:01.60
It says there, "The
fear of the Lord..."
00:13:02.03\00:13:05.46
Finish it for me,
"The fear of the Lord is...
00:13:06.44\00:13:09.03
...the beginning of wisdom."
00:13:09.72\00:13:11.90
Which means that if you
don't have the fear of the Lord,
00:13:11.93\00:13:13.74
you're not even
starting to be wise.
00:13:13.77\00:13:15.79
Because the fear of the
Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
00:13:16.64\00:13:18.92
In other words, Lucifer
lost his fear of the Lord.
00:13:18.95\00:13:23.82
And that led him
to choose iniquity.
00:13:24.52\00:13:27.44
Notice Job, or actually
Proverbs chapter 8 and verse 13.
00:13:27.47\00:13:32.64
Proverbs chapter 8 and verse 13.
00:13:32.67\00:13:36.37
Here we're told that the fear
of the Lord is to hate what?
00:13:37.10\00:13:42.07
Is to hate evil.
00:13:42.35\00:13:44.21
And God hates
arrogance and what?
00:13:44.24\00:13:48.24
And pride, he says there.
00:13:48.27\00:13:50.41
So let me ask you,
what is true wisdom?
00:13:50.84\00:13:53.40
True wisdom is to hate what?
00:13:53.64\00:13:56.03
Evil.
00:13:56.22\00:13:57.25
And God hates those
who are arrogant and proud.
00:13:57.52\00:14:02.06
What was the
problem with Lucifer?
00:14:02.99\00:14:04.86
At first he feared God.
00:14:05.31\00:14:07.60
At first he hated evil.
00:14:08.30\00:14:10.90
But now he loses his respect
for God and he comes to the
00:14:11.39\00:14:16.12
point of loving evil.
00:14:16.15\00:14:17.75
And he's filled with
arrogance and with pride.
00:14:17.78\00:14:20.78
He thinks that his wisdom
is due to some inherent quality
00:14:20.81\00:14:25.46
within himself.
00:14:25.49\00:14:27.29
And so he's lifted up
because of his beauty,
00:14:27.93\00:14:30.72
and he corrupts his wisdom.
00:14:30.75\00:14:32.71
But there's more.
00:14:33.33\00:14:34.73
The Bible tells us that suddenly
the riches with which God had
00:14:35.45\00:14:39.40
endowed him, all
those precious stones,
00:14:39.43\00:14:41.84
he came to the conclusion that
this was all because of himself,
00:14:41.87\00:14:46.00
because of his greatness.
00:14:46.29\00:14:48.18
Notice Ezekiel
chapter 28 and verse 2.
00:14:48.33\00:14:51.87
Ezekiel 28 and verse
2 where this same being
00:14:51.90\00:14:54.55
is being spoken about.
00:14:54.58\00:14:55.78
It says there...
00:14:56.24\00:14:57.45
Notice this upward mobility
that we've been talking about.
00:15:07.34\00:15:10.12
"Seas" means multitudes,
nations, tongues, and peoples.
00:15:21.84\00:15:25.91
And then you continue reading
the next verses; 5 and 6.
00:15:35.10\00:15:38.68
It says that he
was very, very rich.
00:15:38.71\00:15:41.38
But he became lifted
up because of his riches.
00:15:41.41\00:15:46.61
In other words, he came
to believe that his riches
00:15:46.64\00:15:49.07
belonged to himself and
that he had accumulated these
00:15:49.17\00:15:53.33
through his intelligence
and through his power.
00:15:53.36\00:15:56.74
And then comes the matter
of the position of authority
00:15:57.96\00:16:00.96
and power which he held.
00:16:00.99\00:16:02.63
Notice Isaiah chapter 14
and verses 12 through 14.
00:16:03.04\00:16:07.26
Isaiah chapter 14
and verses 12 through 14.
00:16:07.29\00:16:10.90
Notice that he was not satisfied
with the position of authority
00:16:11.25\00:16:14.67
which God has given him.
00:16:14.70\00:16:15.97
He actually comes to the
point where he wants to occupy
00:16:17.19\00:16:20.40
the place of God himself.
00:16:20.43\00:16:23.01
It says there in Isaiah
chapter 14 and verse 12...
00:16:23.27\00:16:27.00
Obviously, his position of power
and authority went to his head.
00:17:05.37\00:17:09.65
He thought that he was
the greatest because he
00:17:09.99\00:17:12.57
occupied this position.
00:17:12.60\00:17:14.04
He didn't realize that
he was placed there as the
00:17:14.07\00:17:16.78
covering cherub by God.
00:17:16.81\00:17:18.75
It wasn't because of
some special power or wisdom
00:17:18.95\00:17:22.01
or authority that
he had in himself.
00:17:22.04\00:17:24.43
It was because God, his
Creator, had placed him there.
00:17:24.73\00:17:28.85
And so we find
these four sins of pride.
00:17:29.74\00:17:34.54
The devil takes what
God had given him, which was
00:17:34.93\00:17:38.24
good in itself, and he
perverted these four things.
00:17:38.27\00:17:42.95
He perverted his wisdom
because it became self focused.
00:17:43.15\00:17:47.67
He perverted his beauty
because it became self focused.
00:17:47.86\00:17:51.59
He perverted his riches.
00:17:51.79\00:17:53.75
In fact, we're told that he
accumulated riches for himself
00:17:53.78\00:17:57.11
there in the first
few verses of Ezekiel 28.
00:17:57.14\00:18:00.31
And he came to
focus upon himself
00:18:00.73\00:18:03.94
and his position of authority.
00:18:03.97\00:18:06.64
Now Jesus, the Creator,
manifested the opposite spirit
00:18:08.90\00:18:13.92
of Lucifer.
00:18:13.95\00:18:14.99
In fact, we're going to notice
the perspective that Jesus had
00:18:15.68\00:18:19.39
toward these four
qualities that God had
00:18:19.42\00:18:23.56
originally given to Lucifer.
00:18:23.59\00:18:25.36
Notice John
chapter 5 and verse 30.
00:18:26.34\00:18:29.63
Do you know Jesus never,
during His ministry, said,
00:18:29.66\00:18:33.02
"You know, I'm so
wise, I'm so intelligent,
00:18:33.05\00:18:35.97
I'm so smart, aren't
you dazzled by My wisdom?"
00:18:36.00\00:18:40.10
Never did Jesus say that.
00:18:40.13\00:18:41.71
He always projected the
honor and glory upon His Father.
00:18:41.74\00:18:45.51
He realized that it
was not inherently His own.
00:18:45.54\00:18:48.98
John chapter 5 and
verse 30, Jesus says...
00:18:49.41\00:18:52.77
Once again, this same thought
is repeated in John chapter 7
00:19:09.12\00:19:12.92
and verse 16.
00:19:12.95\00:19:15.05
John chapter 7 and verse 16.
00:19:15.08\00:19:18.32
You know, we look at the
gospels and we're amazed at the
00:19:27.33\00:19:29.62
teachings of Jesus,
the wisdom that He had.
00:19:29.65\00:19:32.52
Never on planet earth has
a wiser being ever walked.
00:19:32.97\00:19:37.29
And yet Jesus did not
boast of His own wisdom.
00:19:38.10\00:19:41.71
Jesus said, "My wisdom,
My teaching, and My authority
00:19:42.12\00:19:47.11
comes from My Father.
00:19:47.31\00:19:49.36
I have not come to do My will,
I have come to do His will."
00:19:49.47\00:19:53.71
In other words, Jesus showed
the true perspective of wisdom.
00:19:54.33\00:19:58.77
And that is that
wisdom is other focused.
00:19:58.80\00:20:02.09
It is not
focused upon ourselves.
00:20:02.12\00:20:05.51
Now what about physical beauty.
00:20:06.51\00:20:08.30
Did Jesus emphasize greatly the
importance of physical beauty?
00:20:08.33\00:20:12.32
Not really.
00:20:12.35\00:20:13.60
In fact, we find in Isaiah
53, if you go with me there,
00:20:14.01\00:20:17.92
Isaiah 53 and verses 2 and
3, an interesting description
00:20:17.95\00:20:23.41
of the physical nature of Jesus.
00:20:23.44\00:20:26.35
Actually, I'm going to
start reading at verse 2.
00:20:27.88\00:20:31.61
It says...
00:20:33.07\00:20:34.10
This is a Messianic prophecy.
00:20:53.05\00:20:54.72
It says, like a
root out of dry ground.
00:20:55.97\00:20:58.43
No form, no comeliness.
00:20:58.93\00:21:00.92
"When we see Him,
there is no beauty that we
00:21:01.90\00:21:04.04
should desire Him."
00:21:04.07\00:21:05.20
In fact, we're told...
00:21:05.51\00:21:06.75
You know, the Lord Jesus
did not come to this earth
00:21:19.63\00:21:22.22
in any particular
attractiveness when it
00:21:24.01\00:21:26.44
comes to physical beauty.
00:21:26.47\00:21:27.93
Do you find it
interesting, I do anyway,
00:21:29.40\00:21:32.31
that in the gospels we have no
physical description of Jesus?
00:21:32.41\00:21:36.08
Have you ever noticed that?
00:21:36.67\00:21:37.76
Nothing is told about
the color of His eyes.
00:21:38.18\00:21:40.63
Nothing is said about
the color of His hair.
00:21:41.19\00:21:43.31
Nothing is said
about His height.
00:21:43.34\00:21:45.38
Nothing is said about His build.
00:21:46.43\00:21:48.41
The gospels are silent
when it comes to the physical
00:21:49.06\00:21:52.80
appearance of Jesus.
00:21:52.83\00:21:54.69
And yet the gospels are
filled with the description of
00:21:54.89\00:21:58.27
the beautiful
character of Jesus.
00:21:58.30\00:22:00.33
The qualities of His character;
His goodness, His love,
00:22:00.36\00:22:03.79
His kindness, His mercy.
00:22:03.82\00:22:05.47
The gospels ooze
these things about Jesus.
00:22:05.50\00:22:09.53
I guess the gospel
writers did not consider
00:22:09.73\00:22:12.28
the physical attractiveness
of Jesus as something
00:22:12.69\00:22:16.43
particularly important.
00:22:16.46\00:22:18.47
In fact, Jesus
didn't highlight it either.
00:22:19.05\00:22:21.88
He wore a simple robe, a
seamless robe, we're told.
00:22:22.26\00:22:26.76
He never wore
anything other than that.
00:22:27.10\00:22:30.44
Because He was not here to
attract attention to Himself
00:22:30.47\00:22:33.35
in His physical nature.
00:22:33.63\00:22:35.25
In fact, Isaiah is not
saying that Jesus was ugly.
00:22:35.63\00:22:39.47
What it's saying is that
Jesus was an ordinary person
00:22:39.50\00:22:42.40
just like the
people of His day and age.
00:22:42.43\00:22:44.72
He did not dress
with designer clothing,
00:22:45.03\00:22:48.89
if I might put it in the
context of our day and age.
00:22:49.26\00:22:53.58
You know, it's very
interesting that the Sanctuary
00:22:53.98\00:22:58.09
is actually a symbol of
Jesus and the different aspects
00:22:58.47\00:23:01.61
of the ministry of Jesus.
00:23:01.64\00:23:02.87
You know, you read about the
Sanctuary in the Old Testament.
00:23:03.39\00:23:06.23
Outside it was made
out of badger skins.
00:23:06.26\00:23:09.61
Any of you ever seen a badger?
00:23:10.15\00:23:11.98
I have.
00:23:12.53\00:23:13.63
I'm from
Wisconsin, the badger state.
00:23:13.84\00:23:18.11
And you know, the
skin is just brown.
00:23:18.76\00:23:22.18
I mean, it's not attractive.
00:23:22.90\00:23:24.45
You know, it's
like looking at a tent.
00:23:24.48\00:23:27.63
Nothing attractive about it.
00:23:28.06\00:23:29.63
But let me ask you this.
00:23:29.66\00:23:31.30
What did the
Sanctuary look like inside?
00:23:32.22\00:23:34.96
Oh, inside was the
gold and the silver
00:23:35.51\00:23:40.53
and the precious material.
00:23:40.56\00:23:41.95
And everything
beautiful was inside.
00:23:41.98\00:23:44.60
In other words, the
beauty of Jesus was not outside.
00:23:45.00\00:23:47.77
The beauty of Jesus was inside.
00:23:47.80\00:23:50.41
And by the way,
you've heard the expression,
00:23:50.44\00:23:52.45
"Beauty is skin deep."
00:23:53.38\00:23:55.27
Well I want to change that.
00:23:56.30\00:23:57.75
External beauty is skin deep.
00:23:57.78\00:24:00.62
Because true
beauty is not skin deep.
00:24:02.25\00:24:05.18
True beauty goes
to the heart itself.
00:24:05.53\00:24:08.67
It goes to the innermost
parts of the human being.
00:24:08.77\00:24:13.30
And so Jesus first of all
said, "My wisdom isn't Mine.
00:24:14.25\00:24:17.03
I got it from My Father."
00:24:17.06\00:24:18.38
He didn't come in a
physical nature to wow people,
00:24:18.81\00:24:23.42
if you please.
00:24:23.45\00:24:24.56
Now what about riches?
00:24:24.59\00:24:25.73
Did Jesus come to this
world with great riches
00:24:25.76\00:24:27.98
to impress people
about what He had?
00:24:28.01\00:24:29.72
Absolutely not.
00:24:29.75\00:24:30.96
Notice 2 Corinthians
chapter 8 and verse 9.
00:24:31.33\00:24:34.24
2 Corinthians
chapter 8 and verse 9.
00:24:34.27\00:24:36.85
Here, the apostle Paul
expresses the philosophy
00:24:36.88\00:24:40.51
of Jesus towards riches.
00:24:40.54\00:24:42.30
2 Corinthians 8 and verse 9.
00:24:42.62\00:24:45.20
Here, the apostle Paul
says concerning Jesus...
00:24:46.33\00:24:48.67
How did Jesus look upon riches?
00:25:08.33\00:25:10.54
He looked upon riches as
something to bless other people.
00:25:10.95\00:25:15.42
See, He became poor so
that we could be made what?
00:25:15.52\00:25:19.65
Rich.
00:25:19.68\00:25:20.71
He gave His riches
so that the poor people
00:25:20.74\00:25:23.79
could become rich.
00:25:23.82\00:25:25.50
And so Jesus had a
different perspective of riches
00:25:26.13\00:25:29.12
than Lucifer had.
00:25:29.15\00:25:30.49
Lucifer wanted to
accumulate riches for himself.
00:25:30.52\00:25:33.60
He wanted everybody to
see how rich and great he was.
00:25:33.63\00:25:36.87
But Jesus, even though
He was the richest being in
00:25:37.41\00:25:40.33
the universe, decided
to set aside His riches.
00:25:40.36\00:25:44.51
He had the true perspective
of what material possessions
00:25:44.73\00:25:49.07
really should mean in life.
00:25:49.10\00:25:51.62
And what would we say
about the position of power
00:25:52.03\00:25:54.25
that Jesus had?
00:25:54.28\00:25:55.55
Lucifer was focused on self.
00:25:55.58\00:25:57.90
He said, "Oh, I want to
be exalted, I want to ascend.
00:25:57.93\00:26:00.34
I want to occupy the number
one place in the universe."
00:26:00.37\00:26:03.46
How did Jesus look
at the issue of power?
00:26:03.49\00:26:05.95
Notice Philippians chapter 2.
00:26:06.25\00:26:07.89
We've read this passage before,
but I want to read it again.
00:26:07.92\00:26:10.40
Philippians chapter 2
and verses 5 through 11.
00:26:10.43\00:26:13.14
The apostle Paul here
expresses in majestic language
00:26:13.34\00:26:17.59
the perspective
that Jesus had of power.
00:26:17.62\00:26:20.12
It says there...
00:26:20.39\00:26:21.77
A better translation is, He
did not consider His Godhood
00:26:35.52\00:26:39.32
as something to be hung on
to, as something to be grasped.
00:26:39.35\00:26:43.49
It continues
saying in verse 7...
00:26:45.61\00:26:47.23
See, He came down
from His position of power,
00:26:57.68\00:27:00.69
from His throne.
00:27:00.72\00:27:02.11
He left His crown in heaven.
00:27:02.14\00:27:04.24
You see, Jesus did not
consider His position of power
00:27:15.96\00:27:19.29
as something to be hung on to.
00:27:19.32\00:27:21.08
He actually got down from
the throne, left His crown,
00:27:21.11\00:27:24.33
and came down to this
world to serve the human race,
00:27:24.36\00:27:28.49
which was lost without Him.
00:27:28.52\00:27:31.08
And so Jesus had a
very different perspective
00:27:32.33\00:27:34.65
of these four
qualities that Lucifer had.
00:27:34.85\00:27:37.55
You see,
Lucifer focused on self.
00:27:37.93\00:27:40.24
Jesus focused on others
and on the glory of His Father.
00:27:40.27\00:27:44.27
Now the question is, what
does this have to say to us?
00:27:46.25\00:27:51.09
Well, we've been
talking about two mysteries.
00:27:52.22\00:27:54.66
How do we look at wisdom?
00:27:55.96\00:27:58.00
How do we look
at physical beauty?
00:27:58.94\00:28:01.44
How do we look at
a position of power?
00:28:02.45\00:28:05.45
What is our
perspective of riches?
00:28:06.42\00:28:09.70
Is it the perspective that
Lucifer had after he sinned?
00:28:10.52\00:28:14.25
Or is it the perspective
that Jesus had when He
00:28:15.10\00:28:19.37
came to this world?
00:28:19.40\00:28:20.83
You know, we've been
dealing with two mysteries.
00:28:21.16\00:28:23.42
The mystery of godliness
and the mystery of iniquity.
00:28:23.45\00:28:26.35
The mystery of
godliness is when the God who is
00:28:26.66\00:28:29.40
up here comes down.
00:28:29.43\00:28:30.88
The mystery of iniquity is
when a creature who is down here
00:28:31.33\00:28:34.48
wants to come up and
wants to ascend and be exalted.
00:28:34.51\00:28:38.63
So these four sins of
pride, we need to see how
00:28:40.32\00:28:44.96
we approach them.
00:28:44.99\00:28:46.07
Do we approach them from
the perspective of Jesus,
00:28:46.10\00:28:48.96
or do we approach them
from the perspective of Lucifer
00:28:48.99\00:28:53.09
or of Satan?
00:28:53.49\00:28:54.79
Let's talk first
of all about wisdom.
00:28:55.69\00:28:57.81
We look at the
worldly universities today.
00:28:59.31\00:29:01.90
Universities which at
one time were actually
00:29:03.07\00:29:08.04
Christian universities.
00:29:08.38\00:29:10.25
Like Yale, and
Harvard, and Princeton.
00:29:10.73\00:29:15.53
They have become
actually citadels of arrogance.
00:29:16.53\00:29:21.51
People think that the
more education they have
00:29:22.38\00:29:25.18
the wiser they are, the
more intelligent they are,
00:29:25.54\00:29:29.56
and the less they need of God.
00:29:29.78\00:29:32.64
Even within the
Seventh-day Adventist Church
00:29:33.10\00:29:35.51
we have some of our scholars
who are starting to question,
00:29:36.21\00:29:41.92
for example, a creation of
this world in six literal days
00:29:41.95\00:29:45.93
and God resting
on the seventh day.
00:29:45.96\00:29:48.04
And when you bring out the
spirit of prophecy, they say,
00:29:49.47\00:29:51.70
"Well, you know, she
only had two and a half years
00:29:51.73\00:29:54.66
of primary education.
00:29:54.69\00:29:56.38
What did she really know."
00:29:57.43\00:29:58.98
And when you bring
to view Moses, they say,
00:29:59.44\00:30:03.44
"Well you know, Moses, he
wrote in the pre-scientific age.
00:30:03.47\00:30:07.45
He wasn't a scientist.
00:30:07.95\00:30:09.14
Today we have science."
00:30:09.17\00:30:10.82
It's what the Bible calls
science falsely so-called.
00:30:11.24\00:30:15.53
Because it is an idea that the
Bible and the spirit of prophecy
00:30:16.04\00:30:20.87
are wrong, whereas our
scholarship and our own
00:30:20.90\00:30:26.06
human wisdom is right.
00:30:26.09\00:30:28.07
You know, the more
degrees that we have,
00:30:29.71\00:30:32.01
the more humble we should be.
00:30:32.65\00:30:34.21
The more we know, the
more we should admit that
00:30:36.06\00:30:39.47
we don't know much.
00:30:39.50\00:30:40.87
Because the more I
study the more I learn, I say,
00:30:41.24\00:30:43.82
"I didn't know that before."
00:30:43.85\00:30:45.50
So we're always learning.
00:30:45.98\00:30:47.72
And so we should know that
our wisdom does not come from
00:30:48.90\00:30:51.78
ourselves because
we have a great mind.
00:30:51.81\00:30:54.45
But because God has
given us the ability to acquire
00:30:55.34\00:30:58.56
knowledge and wisdom.
00:30:58.59\00:31:00.05
And it exists not for pride.
00:31:00.08\00:31:03.07
It exists for blessing others.
00:31:03.10\00:31:05.66
In Romans 1 and verse
22, the apostle Paul spoke
00:31:06.32\00:31:10.39
about these individuals
who had perverted wisdom.
00:31:10.42\00:31:12.98
He said, "Professing to
be wise they became fools,
00:31:13.01\00:31:17.63
and changed the glory of the
incorruptible God into an image
00:31:17.96\00:31:22.62
made like corruptible man and
birds and four-footed animals
00:31:22.65\00:31:27.23
and creeping things."
00:31:27.26\00:31:28.39
In other words,
they became idolatrous.
00:31:28.42\00:31:31.60
They professed to be
wise, but they became fools.
00:31:32.70\00:31:35.42
That was the
problem with Lucifer.
00:31:35.45\00:31:37.16
He had wisdom, but he corrupted
and perverted his wisdom.
00:31:37.19\00:31:41.38
Notice Job 28 and verse 28.
00:31:42.46\00:31:45.35
It's so succinct and so simple.
00:31:46.48\00:31:48.78
It says, "And to man He said,
'Behold, the fear of the Lord,
00:31:48.81\00:31:54.23
that is wisdom, and to depart
from evil is understanding.'"
00:31:54.33\00:32:00.56
So if we don't have
the fear of the Lord,
00:32:01.61\00:32:03.59
we might have three
Ph.D.'s, and in the sight of God
00:32:04.21\00:32:08.35
it is nothing.
00:32:08.38\00:32:09.47
Because education and wisdom,
it should be God focused.
00:32:10.01\00:32:14.23
And the more education we have,
the more efficient we should be
00:32:14.91\00:32:19.03
in blessing other people
and serving other people.
00:32:19.06\00:32:22.11
What about beauty?
00:32:23.18\00:32:24.56
External beauty?
00:32:24.95\00:32:26.25
I'm going to deal with a
little touchy issue right now.
00:32:28.26\00:32:31.56
The issue of personal attire.
00:32:31.76\00:32:34.91
You know, I've developed
a little reputation that
00:32:35.85\00:32:37.78
Pastor Bohr is conservative
when it comes to the issue of
00:32:37.81\00:32:40.36
dress and music,
and things like that.
00:32:40.39\00:32:43.60
I get the question all the time,
"Is it wrong to use jewelry?"
00:32:45.26\00:32:49.97
Well, I like to ask
a follow-up question.
00:32:53.07\00:32:56.88
And that is,
"Why do you use it?"
00:32:57.32\00:33:00.31
See, that's a big
question, "Why do you use it?"
00:33:01.95\00:33:03.75
Is it because you
want to make God look good?
00:33:04.68\00:33:07.12
Is it because you
want the name of God
00:33:07.93\00:33:09.84
to be honored and glorified?
00:33:09.87\00:33:11.68
Or is it because you want to
attract attention to yourself?
00:33:12.61\00:33:15.13
Now, I can't judge you.
00:33:17.40\00:33:18.85
Maybe somebody
does use it because they
00:33:20.49\00:33:24.37
want to make God look good.
00:33:24.40\00:33:26.01
Or they want to
bring glory to God.
00:33:26.76\00:33:28.25
That's something that you have
to deal with in your own heart.
00:33:28.28\00:33:30.76
What is the motivation?
00:33:32.50\00:33:34.09
The apostle Paul is
very clear on this issue
00:33:35.41\00:33:37.94
of external adornment.
00:33:37.97\00:33:39.17
Just like Jesus, he says
the adornment should be inside,
00:33:39.63\00:33:42.59
not outside.
00:33:42.62\00:33:43.82
People should be attracted
to us by our character,
00:33:44.78\00:33:47.45
not by our external beauty.
00:33:47.55\00:33:50.36
Notice 1 Peter
chapter 3, 1 Peter chapter 3.
00:33:50.91\00:33:54.57
Here, the
apostle Peter says this,
00:33:55.59\00:33:57.67
"Do not let your
adornment be merely outward..."
00:33:58.56\00:34:01.64
By the way, that word, "merely,"
is added by the translators.
00:34:01.67\00:34:05.51
That word,
"merely," isn't there.
00:34:06.97\00:34:08.75
It really says, "Do not
let your adornment be outward;
00:34:09.21\00:34:13.37
arranging the
hair, wearing gold,
00:34:14.08\00:34:17.38
or putting on fine apparel.
00:34:17.68\00:34:19.90
Rather let it be the
hidden person of the heart..."
00:34:20.53\00:34:23.31
What is it that
needs to be emphasized?
00:34:24.69\00:34:26.68
The hidden person of the heart.
00:34:26.71\00:34:28.40
"...with the
incorruptible beauty of a gentle
00:34:28.43\00:34:30.99
and quiet spirit, which is very
precious in the sight of God."
00:34:31.02\00:34:35.15
Do you see what the emphasis is?
00:34:35.95\00:34:37.45
It's not on the outside.
00:34:37.80\00:34:39.09
It's on what?
00:34:39.12\00:34:40.31
On the inside.
00:34:40.34\00:34:41.45
Notice what the
apostle Paul has to say in
00:34:41.48\00:34:43.37
1 Timothy chapter 2
and beginning with verse 8.
00:34:43.40\00:34:46.52
1 Timothy chapter 2 and verse 8.
00:34:46.55\00:34:49.15
The apostle Paul says this.
00:34:49.46\00:34:51.19
"I desire therefore
that the men pray everywhere,
00:34:51.22\00:34:54.61
lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting.
00:34:54.91\00:34:58.16
In like manner
also, that the women..."
00:34:58.68\00:35:00.96
And I would say men today also.
00:35:00.99\00:35:03.14
Because it's
become an issue among men.
00:35:03.34\00:35:05.27
"In like manner also,
that the women adorn themselves
00:35:06.36\00:35:09.42
in modest apparel, with
propriety and moderation,
00:35:09.45\00:35:14.95
not with braided hair or gold
or pearls or costly clothing,
00:35:15.49\00:35:21.86
but which is proper
for women professing
00:35:22.34\00:35:25.23
godliness with..." What?
00:35:25.26\00:35:27.04
"...with good works."
00:35:27.07\00:35:29.39
You see, that's enduring beauty.
00:35:30.23\00:35:32.19
The physical beauty actually
eventually will leave, will go.
00:35:32.56\00:35:38.55
But the inside
beauty, internal beauty,
00:35:39.34\00:35:42.60
would last forever.
00:35:42.63\00:35:44.24
Let me ask you this.
00:35:44.80\00:35:46.23
If time should linger,
our bodies are going to look
00:35:47.50\00:35:50.97
younger and
younger every day, right?
00:35:51.00\00:35:53.10
Listen, no matter how
many face lifts we have,
00:35:54.81\00:35:59.79
eventually we're going
to have so many wrinkles
00:36:00.12\00:36:02.66
we can't cover them up.
00:36:02.69\00:36:04.05
And eventually,
we're going to shrivel up
00:36:05.42\00:36:07.32
and we're going to die.
00:36:08.00\00:36:09.30
So if the beauty is
only external, what is left?
00:36:10.67\00:36:14.58
Nothing.
00:36:15.54\00:36:16.62
But if we've developed
a character of good works,
00:36:17.48\00:36:20.53
if we have acquired a sweet
spirit like the Bible says,
00:36:21.53\00:36:24.52
God is writing that in heaven
and He's going to give that back
00:36:24.98\00:36:27.63
in the day of the resurrection.
00:36:27.66\00:36:29.40
Our character is the only
thing which we are going to
00:36:29.43\00:36:33.45
take to heaven, as the
spirit of prophecy says.
00:36:33.48\00:36:36.63
I'd like to read a statement
that we find in volume 1
00:36:37.47\00:36:39.99
of the Testimonies, page 136.
00:36:40.02\00:36:43.28
"I saw that the
outside appearance is an index
00:36:45.15\00:36:49.81
to the heart."
00:36:49.84\00:36:51.05
Did you catch that?
00:36:52.61\00:36:53.69
"I saw that the
outside appearance is an index
00:36:54.21\00:36:57.37
to the heart.
00:36:57.40\00:36:58.55
When the exterior is
hung with ribbons, collars,
00:36:59.11\00:37:05.96
and needless things, it plainly
shows that the love for all this
00:37:05.99\00:37:12.29
is in the heart.
00:37:12.64\00:37:14.26
Unless such persons are
cleansed from their corruption,
00:37:14.85\00:37:18.83
they can never see
God, for only the pure
00:37:18.86\00:37:22.38
in heart will see Him."
00:37:22.41\00:37:24.45
Physical beauty.
00:37:26.56\00:37:27.85
Wisdom.
00:37:29.31\00:37:30.68
Riches.
00:37:31.64\00:37:33.27
What is our perspective?
00:37:33.79\00:37:35.48
You know, we live in a
day and age when everybody is
00:37:36.31\00:37:38.38
concerned about image.
00:37:38.41\00:37:40.11
We want to wear
designer clothes.
00:37:40.14\00:37:42.17
You look at the Oscars,
everybody wants to see what
00:37:42.37\00:37:44.86
the actors are wearing.
00:37:44.89\00:37:46.79
Who are our heroes today?
00:37:46.82\00:37:49.17
God loves beauty.
00:37:50.53\00:37:52.12
Doesn't God love beauty?
00:37:52.65\00:37:54.17
But He gives us
beauty to bring glory to Him.
00:37:55.27\00:37:57.54
Not to bring glory to us.
00:37:58.28\00:38:00.23
By the way, do you know that
God decked Lucifer with jewels?
00:38:00.84\00:38:04.52
We just read it.
00:38:04.87\00:38:06.05
And Lucifer
wasn't able to handle it.
00:38:07.01\00:38:09.05
He became proud because of it.
00:38:09.85\00:38:11.50
You see, in this sinful world
God knows that we can't handle
00:38:12.24\00:38:14.73
things like this, because
they bring pride to our heart.
00:38:14.76\00:38:17.49
They lead us to be
filled with conceit.
00:38:17.52\00:38:20.80
And so God says, "You
know, some day I'm going to
00:38:21.53\00:38:24.20
deck you with My jewels."
00:38:24.23\00:38:25.97
He says, "But now, don't do it."
00:38:26.85\00:38:30.55
In fact, some people
use those text in Scripture
00:38:31.04\00:38:33.38
where it says that God is going
to deck His people with jewels,
00:38:33.41\00:38:37.03
and so they say, "See,
God, you know, He's going to put
00:38:38.22\00:38:40.72
jewelry on His people."
00:38:40.75\00:38:42.02
You know, in the Bible whenever
people themselves put on
00:38:42.77\00:38:46.33
jewelry, it's a
sign of apostasy.
00:38:46.36\00:38:48.28
When God puts
the jewels on people,
00:38:49.28\00:38:51.85
it's a sign of holiness.
00:38:51.88\00:38:53.80
So you better pray that the
Lord send you a lot from heaven.
00:38:54.14\00:38:56.75
You see, when God puts it
on, it's going to be because
00:39:00.16\00:39:02.94
we are in the earth made new.
00:39:02.97\00:39:04.62
And He knows that all
these things will not be put on
00:39:05.65\00:39:08.54
to bring glory to ourselves,
but to bring glory to God.
00:39:08.57\00:39:12.58
What about riches, what
is our perspective of riches?
00:39:13.39\00:39:16.29
The early church, we're
told that they sold everything
00:39:16.95\00:39:19.03
they had and they used
it in common for people
00:39:19.06\00:39:21.03
who were in need.
00:39:21.06\00:39:22.35
You see, they had the
perspective that riches
00:39:23.15\00:39:24.96
were to bless other people.
00:39:24.99\00:39:26.26
Jesus had that same
perspective Himself.
00:39:26.29\00:39:28.95
You know, we're anxious
to accumulate houses and cars
00:39:31.50\00:39:34.70
and toys and stocks and bonds
and money in the money market
00:39:34.73\00:39:38.76
far more than what we need
when we could really take this
00:39:38.79\00:39:42.48
and invest it in the cause
of God to help finish His work
00:39:42.51\00:39:46.07
on this earth.
00:39:46.10\00:39:47.72
What about power,
a position of power?
00:39:48.41\00:39:52.06
You know, the higher
the position we have,
00:39:54.23\00:39:56.34
the greater
should be our service.
00:39:57.10\00:39:58.91
If we follow the example
of Jesus, Jesus washed the
00:39:59.36\00:40:02.38
feet of His disciples.
00:40:02.41\00:40:03.77
You know, you
think of Nebuchadnezzar.
00:40:04.16\00:40:05.93
You know, he
thought he was so great,
00:40:06.41\00:40:07.70
"Isn't this great
Babylon which I built.
00:40:07.73\00:40:09.38
Look at all my
riches and all my power."
00:40:09.41\00:40:11.32
And so God says,
"Oh, is that the case?
00:40:11.52\00:40:13.34
Go eat grass."
00:40:14.03\00:40:15.33
He took away
the pearl of reason.
00:40:15.53\00:40:17.21
How many riches did
Nebuchadnezzar have after that?
00:40:17.66\00:40:20.11
How much power did
he have after that?
00:40:20.58\00:40:22.42
None.
00:40:22.45\00:40:23.48
Because as long as God
gives us the gift of reason,
00:40:24.83\00:40:27.79
we have.
00:40:29.04\00:40:30.33
When it's
removed, we don't have.
00:40:31.17\00:40:33.26
In other words, all the honor
and the glory belongs to God,
00:40:34.38\00:40:37.16
not to us.
00:40:37.19\00:40:38.88
And so our self image should
be based, not on how we look,
00:40:41.10\00:40:44.86
not on what car we drive,
not on what house we have,
00:40:46.74\00:40:51.45
not on how many
degrees we have procured,
00:40:52.69\00:40:56.09
not on the clothes we wear, or
the many toys which we possess.
00:40:56.83\00:41:01.83
Because all of these things
could be lost in an instant
00:41:02.61\00:41:06.05
in this life, and everything
will be lost when Jesus comes.
00:41:06.08\00:41:09.85
The focus should be
on bringing glory to God
00:41:11.49\00:41:15.84
in these four
areas of our lives.
00:41:16.04\00:41:18.62
I would like to
end by reading...
00:41:18.94\00:41:20.80
And actually, I
won't even have to read it.
00:41:22.03\00:41:24.01
...that one verse
in 1 Corinthians 10:31,
00:41:24.32\00:41:27.42
which we all know.
00:41:27.45\00:41:28.55
"Therefore, if you eat or
you drink, or whatever you do,
00:41:28.58\00:41:34.46
do all to..." What?
00:41:34.83\00:41:37.50
"...to the glory of God."
00:41:37.80\00:41:39.61
So we must all examine ourselves
and see how we're looking at
00:41:40.15\00:41:44.45
these four blessings
that God gave to Lucifer.
00:41:44.48\00:41:47.35
Are we using them for
self, or are we using them
00:41:47.66\00:41:50.90
for the glory of God?
00:41:50.93\00:41:52.14
I pray to God that He will
help us to use these elements
00:41:52.17\00:41:56.16
for His honor and for His glory.
00:41:56.52\00:41:59.47
Father in heaven, we
thank You for the way in which
00:42:00.04\00:42:04.32
You've spoken in Your holy Word.
00:42:04.35\00:42:06.06
We thank You because You've
shown the wonderful endowments
00:42:06.96\00:42:10.03
which You gave to Lucifer.
00:42:10.06\00:42:11.63
We thank You
because You gave him wisdom,
00:42:13.27\00:42:15.37
and You gave him
beauty, You gave him riches,
00:42:15.40\00:42:18.37
and a position of power.
00:42:18.74\00:42:20.26
We're saddened to see
that he abused these blessings
00:42:21.22\00:42:24.03
that You gave him.
00:42:24.06\00:42:25.28
And most of the people in
the world are abusing these
00:42:25.54\00:42:28.04
blessings which You give them.
00:42:28.07\00:42:29.55
They're filled with
conceit because of their wisdom
00:42:29.69\00:42:31.93
and their beauty and
their power and their riches.
00:42:31.96\00:42:34.81
I ask, Father, that You
will plant Your Holy Spirit
00:42:34.84\00:42:37.20
in our hearts and You will
help us to put these things
00:42:37.23\00:42:39.73
in the right perspective.
00:42:39.76\00:42:41.10
That everything we do
and everything we say,
00:42:41.79\00:42:44.28
that everything we
possess, might be placed on the
00:42:44.89\00:42:48.83
altar of sacrifice
and might be used for
00:42:48.86\00:42:52.09
Your honor and Your glory.
00:42:52.12\00:42:53.83
We thank You, Father,
for hearing our prayer.
00:42:54.51\00:42:56.82
For we ask it in
Jesus' name, amen.
00:42:57.02\00:43:00.25
