Welcome to the Liberty Insider. 00:00:27.06\00:00:29.29 My name is Lincoln Steed, editor of Liberty magazine. 00:00:29.32\00:00:32.89 And this is a program designed to bring you 00:00:32.93\00:00:36.63 really the up-to-date insights. 00:00:36.67\00:00:38.93 All that I can bring to bear 00:00:38.97\00:00:40.57 on the topic of religious liberty 00:00:40.60\00:00:42.50 and current world developments. 00:00:42.54\00:00:44.97 My guest on the program also has the name Steed, 00:00:45.01\00:00:47.81 my son Christopher, 00:00:47.84\00:00:49.41 it's not your first time, but thank you, son. 00:00:49.44\00:00:53.11 And I want to go back to our shared experience, 00:00:53.15\00:00:56.25 not too many years ago. 00:00:56.28\00:00:57.62 Remember, I took you and the rest of the family 00:00:57.65\00:01:00.76 to a tour of Israel. 00:01:00.79\00:01:03.02 Remember that? 00:01:03.06\00:01:04.79 You remember one of the scenes that really stuck in my mind, 00:01:04.83\00:01:07.93 we took a bus up to Golan Heights, 00:01:07.96\00:01:10.77 and at the top of the Golan Heights 00:01:10.80\00:01:12.13 you could look down more down 00:01:12.17\00:01:13.74 than along to the sea of Galilee 00:01:13.77\00:01:16.20 and the events 00:01:16.24\00:01:17.71 that happened in Jesus' ministry. 00:01:17.74\00:01:22.34 By the way, you know, I like the Messiah, right? 00:01:22.38\00:01:26.65 Yeah. Musical Messiah. 00:01:26.68\00:01:28.15 You only have... 00:01:28.18\00:01:29.95 At least 20, 30 versions. 00:01:29.98\00:01:32.35 Yeah, at least. 00:01:32.39\00:01:33.72 And one of them has a painting by... 00:01:33.76\00:01:38.53 Ah, I can't remember. 00:01:38.56\00:01:41.16 A famous painter. 00:01:41.20\00:01:42.53 Very famous surrealist of that same scene 00:01:42.56\00:01:47.57 where Jesus is on the cross. 00:01:47.60\00:01:49.30 And you're looking down past His body hanging on the cross, 00:01:49.34\00:01:53.34 almost straight down to the fishermen 00:01:53.38\00:01:55.28 on the sea of Galilee. 00:01:55.31\00:01:56.64 Is this the vinyl one? 00:01:56.68\00:01:58.01 Yes. 00:01:58.05\00:01:59.38 And that's almost the vision we got from the Golan Heights, 00:01:59.41\00:02:02.78 but what do you remember the other direction? 00:02:02.82\00:02:06.09 Looking out over the Golan Heights? 00:02:06.12\00:02:07.46 Desert. Yes. 00:02:07.49\00:02:09.49 But remember that was the direction to Syria. 00:02:09.52\00:02:12.53 Oh, yeah. 00:02:12.56\00:02:13.90 And we saw where the ISIS at the time, 00:02:13.93\00:02:15.66 it destroyed a few mosques in that, 00:02:15.70\00:02:18.03 and we couldn't see it that day, 00:02:18.07\00:02:20.44 but they said it was only a few tens of miles. 00:02:20.47\00:02:24.31 And on a very clear day, 00:02:24.34\00:02:25.67 you could see the other suburbs of Damascus. 00:02:25.71\00:02:28.61 And you can see fighting. 00:02:28.64\00:02:29.98 Yes. 00:02:30.01\00:02:31.35 Well, we saw the destruction of the mosques. 00:02:31.38\00:02:34.68 So, you know, very small world and it made it very real to me. 00:02:34.72\00:02:40.02 And remember in the Bible, 00:02:40.06\00:02:42.79 what was the key moment in Saul 00:02:42.82\00:02:45.86 who then became the Apostle Paul's life? 00:02:45.89\00:02:47.66 What was the key moment, 00:02:47.70\00:02:49.03 he spoke about the rest of his life? 00:02:49.06\00:02:51.40 When he was on the road to Damascus? 00:02:51.43\00:02:54.40 Yeah, the Damascus road. Yeah. 00:02:54.44\00:02:56.44 So doesn't that give you... 00:02:56.47\00:02:57.81 I was trying to figure out where you're trying 00:02:57.84\00:02:59.17 to get with that thing. 00:02:59.21\00:03:00.54 Doesn't that give you a new meaning of that, 00:03:00.58\00:03:01.91 you know, to go from Israel, 00:03:01.94\00:03:03.48 you know, that wasn't the modern state, 00:03:03.51\00:03:05.25 but certainly the sea of Galilee was what, 00:03:05.28\00:03:07.88 only a little, a day's walk from Jerusalem. 00:03:07.92\00:03:11.39 That was where Israel was. 00:03:11.42\00:03:13.32 And he's on the Damascus road, that's just not far away, 00:03:13.36\00:03:15.82 just over the hills, 00:03:15.86\00:03:17.19 on the plain heading toward Damascus. 00:03:17.23\00:03:20.26 And what happened on the road? 00:03:20.30\00:03:21.63 Man, I can't remember the story now. 00:03:24.90\00:03:26.70 He's fighting his forces. 00:03:26.74\00:03:28.07 He was writing of course, and then blinding white light, 00:03:28.10\00:03:32.57 and then he had fish scales put over his eyes. 00:03:32.61\00:03:36.38 That he heard a voice. He heard a voice. 00:03:36.41\00:03:38.35 I don't remember what the voice said. 00:03:38.38\00:03:39.71 It's been a while since this I heard the story. 00:03:39.75\00:03:41.08 The voice of the Lord and it says Saul, 00:03:41.12\00:03:42.45 Saul why are you persecuting Me? 00:03:42.48\00:03:46.25 And later in life, 00:03:46.29\00:03:47.62 when he was before a king and the Bible says, 00:03:47.66\00:03:51.46 and Adventists have told themselves from the beginning, 00:03:51.49\00:03:54.23 we had gone to stand, 00:03:54.26\00:03:56.40 maybe even now, 00:03:56.43\00:03:57.90 but at some point 00:03:57.93\00:03:59.27 we'll likely have to stand before kings and princes 00:03:59.30\00:04:01.04 and give a reason for our faith. 00:04:01.07\00:04:04.27 You have to have it sort of implanted. 00:04:04.31\00:04:07.04 So you have a reason, 00:04:07.08\00:04:08.41 you can't say, well, I sort of felt like it. 00:04:08.44\00:04:10.81 No, you know, I'm doing this. 00:04:10.85\00:04:12.18 And what did he say before Agrippa, I think it was, 00:04:12.21\00:04:15.12 he says I was not disobedient 00:04:15.15\00:04:17.85 to that heavenly vision. 00:04:17.89\00:04:21.22 And on religious liberty, I've come to the conclusion, 00:04:21.26\00:04:25.93 you know, it's not going to happen automatically. 00:04:25.96\00:04:28.23 If you really have a heavenly vision, 00:04:28.26\00:04:31.13 you won't even know when you're being restricted 00:04:31.17\00:04:35.40 and where I'm taking this, 00:04:35.44\00:04:36.77 you wondering where this is going, 00:04:36.81\00:04:38.14 aren't you so? 00:04:38.17\00:04:39.51 A little bit. 00:04:39.54\00:04:40.88 Remember in another program 00:04:40.91\00:04:42.24 we talked about the COVID emergency 00:04:42.28\00:04:43.61 and the restrictions. 00:04:43.65\00:04:44.98 I do. 00:04:45.01\00:04:46.35 I really think way too many Christians 00:04:46.38\00:04:49.05 haven't sort of thought it through. 00:04:49.08\00:04:51.49 That here is a lost opportunity, 00:04:51.52\00:04:56.09 they just thought about the danger. 00:04:56.12\00:04:58.39 Yeah. 00:04:58.43\00:04:59.96 And dangers are real. 00:05:00.00\00:05:03.16 You've heard me speak about pilgrim's progress a few times. 00:05:03.20\00:05:06.47 I heard through it with you a few times. 00:05:06.50\00:05:09.24 Did you ever read Corbis Fergus? 00:05:09.27\00:05:10.61 I know when you were with. Yeah, I have the book. 00:05:10.64\00:05:12.07 Yes. 00:05:12.11\00:05:13.44 When you were with the core program, 00:05:13.48\00:05:16.85 I gave you a copy thinking you might be studying it. 00:05:16.88\00:05:19.01 Did you ever study it? Yeah, I read it. 00:05:19.05\00:05:20.82 I still have it in my room. 00:05:20.85\00:05:23.75 Didn't it strike you as, 00:05:23.79\00:05:25.25 in fact I always get shivers thinking about the book is 00:05:25.29\00:05:28.56 when I was about eight years old 00:05:28.59\00:05:32.36 or bit younger than eight, 00:05:32.39\00:05:33.73 walking to school, 00:05:33.76\00:05:35.10 I was stopped one day with a tent 00:05:35.13\00:05:36.67 erected in an empty block. 00:05:36.70\00:05:38.77 And there was a guy calling kids 00:05:38.80\00:05:41.00 to come in and see this program. 00:05:41.04\00:05:42.80 It was before TV was really common 00:05:42.84\00:05:45.77 and they had slides, 00:05:45.81\00:05:48.04 pictures of knights and dragons and all the rest. 00:05:48.08\00:05:50.55 It was a story of pilgrim making his way to heaven. 00:05:50.58\00:05:53.28 I have my, the one I have has the pictures in it 00:05:53.31\00:05:56.55 and I see some of the pictures 00:05:56.58\00:05:57.92 and I was like, hey, I remember that story. 00:05:57.95\00:05:59.32 Yeah. 00:05:59.35\00:06:00.69 And, you know, it's a real battle. 00:06:00.72\00:06:04.73 You're fighting against something. 00:06:04.76\00:06:06.33 And in many ways, 00:06:06.36\00:06:07.73 I think we've figured we've gone through literally 00:06:07.76\00:06:10.17 what was figured if in Pilgrim, 00:06:10.20\00:06:12.97 because they were lions at one point, 00:06:13.00\00:06:15.50 intimidating him from the way. 00:06:15.54\00:06:17.47 Another time doubting castle and giant despair, 00:06:17.51\00:06:20.58 he'd personified the things that we have to deal with. 00:06:20.61\00:06:23.45 Like you doubt that 00:06:23.48\00:06:24.81 the Christianity is worth fighting for, 00:06:24.85\00:06:27.08 but if you have this awareness that Christian had it. 00:06:27.12\00:06:29.88 Because he says, once I cannot do this, 00:06:29.92\00:06:31.45 I'm on the king's way. 00:06:31.49\00:06:33.05 And without his business, 00:06:33.09\00:06:34.42 I'm going to the celestial city. 00:06:34.46\00:06:36.36 So when you have that awareness, 00:06:36.39\00:06:38.16 you understand that someone standing in your way 00:06:38.19\00:06:41.96 is not just going to make you divert, 00:06:42.00\00:06:44.53 but they're stopping you 00:06:44.57\00:06:45.93 from doing what you're under compulsion to do. 00:06:45.97\00:06:49.00 And it's restriction on your civil liberty, 00:06:49.04\00:06:51.67 your religious liberty, 00:06:51.71\00:06:53.04 your obligation to serve and to witness for God. 00:06:53.07\00:06:56.75 And I think this is a good time for Christians 00:06:56.78\00:06:59.35 to remind themselves. 00:06:59.38\00:07:00.72 And in the last program that we did together, 00:07:00.75\00:07:03.42 you know, you discussed how exciting it was 00:07:03.45\00:07:05.59 going door-to-door, selling books 00:07:05.62\00:07:07.69 and practicing witnessing door-to-door. 00:07:07.72\00:07:10.39 If you'd never gone there 00:07:10.43\00:07:11.76 you'd have missed that wonderful opportunity. 00:07:11.79\00:07:13.19 Yeah, totally. 00:07:13.23\00:07:14.73 And yet an awful lot of our fellow Christians, 00:07:14.76\00:07:17.87 even some Seventh-day Adventists, 00:07:17.90\00:07:19.93 you know, they were told it's dangerous to go out there 00:07:19.97\00:07:23.14 as the old medieval maps used to say 00:07:23.17\00:07:25.84 at the edge of the ocean, 00:07:25.87\00:07:27.21 they say here be the monsters and dragons. 00:07:27.24\00:07:31.11 I won't get in there. It's true. 00:07:31.15\00:07:32.95 Right, isn't it? It's true. 00:07:32.98\00:07:34.58 So we need to sort of go do and dare. 00:07:34.62\00:07:38.25 Yeah. 00:07:38.29\00:07:39.89 Have you seen me reading this book? 00:07:39.92\00:07:42.09 I've seen you reading it while you're driving. 00:07:42.12\00:07:43.63 Yeah, sometimes. 00:07:43.66\00:07:45.29 I shouldn't say that. 00:07:45.33\00:07:46.66 We don't want the traffic authorities 00:07:46.70\00:07:48.03 to be watching this program. 00:07:48.06\00:07:49.40 No, I've seen you read that. 00:07:49.43\00:07:50.77 But I find it hard to put a book down 00:07:50.80\00:07:52.97 and maybe I've glanced at it while we'd been driving. 00:07:53.00\00:07:57.41 No, whenever we, actually, while we were driving up here 00:07:57.44\00:08:00.44 while I was driving at one point, 00:08:00.48\00:08:01.81 I remember you reading through that. 00:08:01.84\00:08:03.45 I remember we, I remember when you bought that book. 00:08:03.48\00:08:07.35 I've got to tell a story, tell it. 00:08:07.38\00:08:09.85 We were at a... 00:08:09.88\00:08:11.22 You need to listen to that carefully. 00:08:11.25\00:08:12.59 No, I remembered, 00:08:12.62\00:08:13.96 no I was there when you bought it. 00:08:13.99\00:08:15.32 No. Yeah. 00:08:15.36\00:08:16.69 What happened? I'll tell you the story. 00:08:16.73\00:08:18.06 It was, you've come with me on a few trips. 00:08:18.09\00:08:21.33 And the last trip that we went together on 00:08:21.36\00:08:25.17 just before COVID really hit. 00:08:25.20\00:08:27.24 Are you talking about the one we went to... 00:08:27.27\00:08:28.60 To Washington state. 00:08:28.64\00:08:29.97 Oh, yeah. 00:08:30.01\00:08:31.34 But the trip before that 00:08:31.37\00:08:32.97 was where things started to go south in the U.S on COVID. 00:08:33.01\00:08:37.15 And I was in San Francisco by myself. 00:08:37.18\00:08:40.52 And while I was there, 00:08:40.55\00:08:42.45 uh, the cases started multiplying. 00:08:42.48\00:08:45.15 They started putting restrictions on 00:08:45.19\00:08:47.26 and it was obvious that 00:08:47.29\00:08:48.62 that things were just getting bad by the moment. 00:08:48.66\00:08:50.69 And so I walked from my hotel under the freeway. 00:08:50.73\00:08:55.50 I was near the freeway, near the San Francisco airport. 00:08:55.53\00:08:58.13 And I walked under the freeway, 00:08:58.17\00:09:00.17 looking for a place to buy some food, 00:09:00.20\00:09:02.30 just to sort of get away from it. 00:09:02.34\00:09:03.67 I didn't even like being in the foyer 00:09:03.71\00:09:05.14 around a lot of people. 00:09:05.17\00:09:06.81 And the area was in, 00:09:06.84\00:09:08.31 I don't think it was high to Asbury, 00:09:08.34\00:09:09.68 but it was sort of like that. 00:09:09.71\00:09:11.95 It was old style with stalls out front and so on 00:09:11.98\00:09:16.79 and a lot of people around and that bothered me. 00:09:16.82\00:09:18.95 And I remember looking in the window of a subway 00:09:18.99\00:09:23.46 and back then, 00:09:23.49\00:09:25.29 well, I shouldn't have named it, 00:09:25.33\00:09:26.66 but there were all the fixings. 00:09:26.70\00:09:29.23 And back then they hadn't yet thought 00:09:29.26\00:09:30.97 to put plastic shields. 00:09:31.00\00:09:32.93 I'm thinking there's a lot of stuff drifting down 00:09:32.97\00:09:34.94 and this I can't buy something like that. 00:09:34.97\00:09:37.87 So where can I go that there's nobody? 00:09:37.91\00:09:39.91 So a few doors down there was a used bookstore 00:09:39.94\00:09:43.58 and I looked in the window and nobody went inside. 00:09:43.61\00:09:46.38 There was one other person in the whole store. 00:09:46.41\00:09:48.58 So it was pretty safe environment. 00:09:48.62\00:09:50.15 So I started looking 00:09:50.19\00:09:51.52 and I love looking at books anyhow, 00:09:51.55\00:09:52.95 and I see this, the coming plague. 00:09:52.99\00:09:56.96 And at that time it was sort of, 00:09:56.99\00:09:58.66 I think there was overreaction, 00:09:58.69\00:10:00.03 but for all we know 00:10:00.06\00:10:02.83 within days 00:10:02.86\00:10:04.20 they were going to send carts through the streets. 00:10:04.23\00:10:06.03 Like you study this in history, what used to happen? 00:10:06.07\00:10:08.64 Bring out your dead. 00:10:08.67\00:10:10.01 Bring out your dead during the plague. 00:10:10.04\00:10:11.91 That was so many people dying 00:10:11.94\00:10:14.04 and nobody wanted to go in and touch the dead. 00:10:14.08\00:10:17.18 They obviously didn't have places to put them, really. 00:10:17.21\00:10:18.78 And I was reading recently again just can't. 00:10:18.81\00:10:20.92 And the same time as his armies were sweeping 00:10:20.95\00:10:22.98 from Asia across Europe, they hit on 00:10:23.02\00:10:26.65 because they were dying with the plague. 00:10:26.69\00:10:28.22 They hit on a new a weapon with the catapults. 00:10:28.26\00:10:31.93 They would catapult 00:10:31.96\00:10:33.29 the bodies of the dead soldiers into a city. 00:10:33.33\00:10:35.43 And you told me about this. 00:10:35.46\00:10:36.80 And by the time that had percolated a bit, 00:10:36.83\00:10:39.77 people were dying. 00:10:39.80\00:10:41.14 The gates pretty much would fall open 00:10:41.17\00:10:42.94 and they'd go in 00:10:42.97\00:10:44.51 and they would be scared out of their minds or dead. 00:10:44.54\00:10:47.01 And they'd conquer the city. 00:10:47.04\00:10:49.91 So a plague wasn't an extraordinary possibility 00:10:49.94\00:10:52.65 at that time. 00:10:52.68\00:10:54.02 Now we're starting to get comfortable 00:10:54.05\00:10:55.55 and probably that's when 00:10:55.58\00:10:56.92 the infections will come back on us, 00:10:56.95\00:10:58.92 but human beings have endured a lot of things. 00:10:58.95\00:11:01.26 And as I read this book, 00:11:01.29\00:11:03.73 which was written in '94. 00:11:03.76\00:11:07.53 Just four years before I was born. 00:11:07.56\00:11:08.96 I was about to say that, that's ancient history for you, 00:11:09.00\00:11:12.73 written in '94 00:11:12.77\00:11:14.30 the year I remember pretty well. 00:11:14.34\00:11:16.81 Back when, when Ebola was troubling the world a bit, 00:11:16.84\00:11:22.04 but not yet, has it really escaped from Africa 00:11:22.08\00:11:25.31 where it destroys whole villages. 00:11:25.35\00:11:27.85 And so this girl told the experience 00:11:27.88\00:11:30.09 in particular of the scientists trying to uncover the origins 00:11:30.12\00:11:33.56 and control of Ebola. 00:11:33.59\00:11:35.39 It spoke to about the effects of global warming 00:11:35.42\00:11:38.56 with people, 00:11:38.59\00:11:40.50 Most people don't think about this 00:11:40.53\00:11:41.86 as the weather patterns change 00:11:41.90\00:11:43.43 and say the warmer climate moves north, 00:11:43.47\00:11:46.00 further north or further south 00:11:46.03\00:11:48.97 with it come the things like mosquitoes 00:11:49.00\00:11:51.54 and other bugs that carry diseases. 00:11:51.57\00:11:54.18 So diseases inexorably spread, 00:11:54.21\00:11:57.05 West Nile virus in Washington, DC, 00:11:57.08\00:11:59.38 where we live in that area. 00:11:59.41\00:12:00.95 That's just because of global warming. 00:12:00.98\00:12:03.72 Not to mention plagues, not plagues, 00:12:03.75\00:12:05.89 the planes with people traveling, 00:12:05.92\00:12:08.26 carrying stuff around. 00:12:08.29\00:12:09.62 So as the title said, 00:12:09.66\00:12:11.09 it gave clear evidence of the coming plague. 00:12:11.13\00:12:16.16 And what other evidence can you think of, 00:12:16.20\00:12:18.63 another book that we've spoken a few times on this program? 00:12:18.67\00:12:20.57 Great Controversy. 00:12:20.60\00:12:22.24 Yes, but the Bible speaks sort of graphically 00:12:22.27\00:12:26.24 about a few end time plagues. 00:12:26.27\00:12:28.21 That's a clear characteristic just before the end 00:12:28.24\00:12:32.41 "end of the old world 00:12:32.45\00:12:33.78 and the beginning of the new world, 00:12:33.82\00:12:35.32 Christ's eternal kingdom." 00:12:35.35\00:12:37.25 So the lesson I'm trying to make, 00:12:37.29\00:12:40.46 if you are waiting, viewers, 00:12:40.49\00:12:43.86 if you're waiting 00:12:43.89\00:12:46.03 for when this is all over 00:12:46.06\00:12:47.46 before you sally forth to witness, 00:12:47.50\00:12:50.37 you might wait till doom's day literally. 00:12:50.40\00:12:55.54 And we've got to be careful, 00:12:55.57\00:12:57.64 but we also have to be true to that heavenly vision. 00:12:57.67\00:13:00.78 We've got, don't you think, son, 00:13:00.81\00:13:02.58 we're under some obligation. 00:13:02.61\00:13:04.51 Yeah. Some obligation. 00:13:04.55\00:13:06.55 There's a... 00:13:06.58\00:13:08.42 You've heard me speak a few times. 00:13:08.45\00:13:09.78 And there's a sermon that dates from the 1700s 00:13:09.82\00:13:14.39 given by Jonathan Edwards 00:13:14.42\00:13:17.83 and I've read history books 00:13:17.86\00:13:19.19 and they remember him for the worst sermon. 00:13:19.23\00:13:20.80 He gave a sermon called 00:13:20.83\00:13:22.16 Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. 00:13:22.20\00:13:24.53 We don't want to be like that, 00:13:24.57\00:13:26.30 but actually that mischaracterize him, 00:13:26.33\00:13:28.54 because the one sermon of his that I read 00:13:28.57\00:13:30.71 the title was 00:13:30.74\00:13:32.54 The Expulsive Power of a New Affection. 00:13:32.57\00:13:38.15 You know, you go through like any one of your rights 00:13:38.18\00:13:41.28 of necessity or not a necessity of, 00:13:41.32\00:13:45.79 it's just the way life is, 00:13:45.82\00:13:47.16 you go through one interest after another, right? 00:13:47.19\00:13:50.86 And when you with the latest interest, 00:13:50.89\00:13:52.79 you don't remember much about the old affections, do you? 00:13:52.83\00:13:56.06 A new affection tends to clean the slate largely, 00:13:56.10\00:14:00.10 and that's how the human brain works. 00:14:00.14\00:14:02.34 And so if we've discovered 00:14:02.37\00:14:04.57 the excitement of knowing the Lord 00:14:04.61\00:14:06.94 and the possibilities of his eternal kingdom, 00:14:06.98\00:14:09.91 how could we keep quiet about it? 00:14:09.94\00:14:11.68 I wouldn't. No. 00:14:11.71\00:14:13.15 I'm not. 00:14:13.18\00:14:14.52 So this is the lesson 00:14:14.55\00:14:15.88 I'm trying to communicate in this program. 00:14:15.92\00:14:17.79 Religious liberty is not a legal construct. 00:14:17.82\00:14:22.82 It's really describing the dynamic 00:14:22.86\00:14:25.93 of how we do what we cannot help but doing. 00:14:25.96\00:14:30.50 Speaking about our religious faith, 00:14:30.53\00:14:32.40 it's something so integral to be exciting. 00:14:32.43\00:14:34.27 Yeah. 00:14:34.30\00:14:35.64 And, of course, facilitating that, 00:14:35.67\00:14:38.27 and sometimes in places, direct persecution, 00:14:38.31\00:14:42.28 and you do it at the cost of your life. 00:14:42.31\00:14:45.01 In our world at the moment in the U.S 00:14:45.05\00:14:47.28 and the Western world, 00:14:47.32\00:14:49.05 generally it's easy, 00:14:49.08\00:14:50.42 but if you have problems, 00:14:50.45\00:14:51.79 you can usually appeal to the law 00:14:51.82\00:14:53.15 and it'll clear your way. 00:14:53.19\00:14:54.82 That's what Paul was trying to do 00:14:54.86\00:14:56.19 speaking to the Roman rulers. 00:14:56.22\00:14:59.03 He had certain rights as a citizen, 00:14:59.06\00:15:00.60 and he felt that he could use that 00:15:00.63\00:15:02.16 to extend his witness, 00:15:02.20\00:15:04.47 but not always so. 00:15:04.50\00:15:07.64 Let's take a short break. 00:15:07.67\00:15:09.67 We'll be back with my guest, Christopher Steed. 00:15:09.70\00:15:12.47 Again, good last name. 00:15:12.51\00:15:15.21 Stay with us. We'll be back. 00:15:15.24\00:15:16.58
