Welcome back to the Liberty Insider. 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.03 Thanks for staying with us 00:00:03.06\00:00:04.40 and let's continue with Amireh Al Haddad. 00:00:04.43\00:00:08.47 This discussion of the, one of the hottest issues going 00:00:08.50\00:00:11.37 even though it seems to have slid past 00:00:11.41\00:00:13.48 the radar in the US pretty easy, 00:00:13.51\00:00:15.01 I think because of the impeachment sideshow, 00:00:15.04\00:00:18.01 or it was a sideshow to the impeachment. 00:00:18.05\00:00:19.71 Maybe there's a better way of putting it. 00:00:19.75\00:00:22.28 But there's an antecedent to the president's designation 00:00:22.32\00:00:26.72 first of Jerusalem as the capital, 00:00:26.76\00:00:28.86 and then the sudden revelation of this final and last 00:00:28.89\00:00:32.73 take it or leave it peace treaty. 00:00:32.76\00:00:35.20 As you've said, 00:00:35.23\00:00:36.56 this come from an evangelical faction, 00:00:36.60\00:00:41.77 the strong base of the president 00:00:41.80\00:00:43.91 and this is part of their theology. 00:00:43.94\00:00:46.01 But you mentioned 00:00:46.04\00:00:47.38 during the break the word dominionist? 00:00:47.41\00:00:49.38 Yes. Tell me more? 00:00:49.41\00:00:51.45 So I'm giving you a probably a very brief summary 00:00:51.48\00:00:55.95 of who a dominionist is, 00:00:55.98\00:00:58.12 But a dominionist is described as someone 00:00:58.15\00:01:00.92 who is working towards 00:01:00.96\00:01:04.69 creating God's dominion on earth. 00:01:04.73\00:01:08.46 They generally believe that this nation, 00:01:08.50\00:01:12.47 the United States should be a Christian nation. 00:01:12.50\00:01:15.30 They generally believe, and not generally, 00:01:15.34\00:01:18.17 they do specifically believe 00:01:18.21\00:01:20.04 that this country needs to return 00:01:20.08\00:01:24.35 its constitution to a more scriptural way. 00:01:24.38\00:01:27.52 I'm glad you said that 00:01:27.55\00:01:28.88 because it isn't just changing society. 00:01:28.92\00:01:30.29 It's changing the structure of the government itself. 00:01:30.32\00:01:32.92 It's changing the very essence 00:01:32.95\00:01:35.96 of what this country 00:01:35.99\00:01:37.79 is foundationally as where we started from, 00:01:37.83\00:01:43.20 and there, there has been a very consistent move 00:01:43.23\00:01:48.60 within dominionist to kind of re-educate 00:01:48.64\00:01:52.31 the young evangelicals in America today. 00:01:52.34\00:01:56.71 And they do so mainly by saying, 00:01:56.75\00:01:59.98 "This nation was founded on the Bible. 00:02:00.02\00:02:04.12 Our laws are founded on the Bible." 00:02:04.15\00:02:09.39 What's wrong with this country today 00:02:09.42\00:02:11.99 is that, we're not doing the biblical way. 00:02:12.03\00:02:15.13 There's a song I remember. 00:02:15.16\00:02:17.03 I'm sure I got the words are on 00:02:17.07\00:02:18.40 but it says wishing to make it so. 00:02:18.43\00:02:20.44 Right. 00:02:20.47\00:02:21.84 And you know these are people 00:02:21.87\00:02:23.37 I think by and large of good inclination, 00:02:23.41\00:02:25.54 and they wish that it was a Christian country. 00:02:25.57\00:02:28.24 They wish that it was a moral community. 00:02:28.28\00:02:31.45 We all do. Yes. 00:02:31.48\00:02:32.81 It's right. It's a good wish. 00:02:32.85\00:02:34.32 But they sort of projecting it on history 00:02:34.35\00:02:36.82 and history doesn't support 00:02:36.85\00:02:38.22 that the facts of the establishment 00:02:38.25\00:02:41.32 of this government and the Constitution itself 00:02:41.36\00:02:43.99 just doesn't bear up this mythical godly nation. 00:02:44.03\00:02:47.96 In essence, you know, God's people 00:02:48.00\00:02:49.96 like the Old Testament in the new Promised Land. 00:02:50.00\00:02:54.90 It's a fantasy, 00:02:54.94\00:02:56.27 but it's a dangerous fantasy I think. 00:02:56.30\00:02:57.64 Yes. 00:02:57.67\00:02:59.01 And it's a dangerous fantasy to religious liberty. 00:02:59.04\00:03:01.48 Right. 00:03:01.51\00:03:02.84 Well, of course, that's why we talk about it here. 00:03:02.88\00:03:04.21 For the most part, we can say, oh, we're Christians too. 00:03:04.25\00:03:07.92 Hey, we're Protestants. 00:03:07.95\00:03:09.28 We live in Protestant America. 00:03:09.32\00:03:11.22 But when you start breaking it down, 00:03:11.25\00:03:14.22 and if you're coming from the side of religious freedom 00:03:14.26\00:03:17.69 that we're coming from, 00:03:17.73\00:03:19.06 which is religious freedom 00:03:19.09\00:03:20.43 should be available for everyone 00:03:20.46\00:03:22.56 the way God gives it to us. 00:03:22.60\00:03:25.43 God gives everyone religious freedom. 00:03:25.47\00:03:27.70 Not the country, not the state. 00:03:27.74\00:03:29.24 Not the state. 00:03:29.27\00:03:30.61 The state recognized the inherent 00:03:30.64\00:03:33.04 but it didn't establish the right 00:03:33.07\00:03:35.94 and then, you know, didn't have the authority, 00:03:35.98\00:03:38.15 especially not in the US, because in theory, 00:03:38.18\00:03:40.82 the very power of the government 00:03:40.85\00:03:42.88 comes from the people, it's not giving to us, 00:03:42.92\00:03:45.35 we give to the government. 00:03:45.39\00:03:46.72 We give to the government, exactly. 00:03:46.76\00:03:48.22 And so, for this to come through 00:03:48.26\00:03:52.46 within dominionism, obviously, dominion, 00:03:52.49\00:03:56.63 the word dominionism comes from dominating, 00:03:56.67\00:03:59.77 to give dominion over all. 00:03:59.80\00:04:01.74 And so, you have to kind of ask yourselves, 00:04:01.77\00:04:04.41 well, if you believe in dominionism, 00:04:04.44\00:04:06.07 and you're going to be the person 00:04:06.11\00:04:08.14 that controls everything, 00:04:08.18\00:04:09.68 and you believe that only Christianity 00:04:09.71\00:04:12.31 is what this country is about, 00:04:12.35\00:04:13.95 well, where is religious liberty in that? 00:04:13.98\00:04:17.55 But again, the evangelical base 00:04:17.59\00:04:20.96 that is pushing this move in the Middle East, 00:04:20.99\00:04:25.76 also comes back to the US and like I said before, 00:04:25.79\00:04:31.30 you've got the tribe of Ishmael 00:04:31.33\00:04:32.80 and the tribe of Isaac always fighting, 00:04:32.83\00:04:35.60 but you have this third, 00:04:35.64\00:04:38.57 third leg that factors in which is evangelicals, 00:04:38.61\00:04:43.14 dominionists here in the US affecting US policy 00:04:43.18\00:04:47.05 overseas in order 00:04:47.08\00:04:50.22 to prepare Jerusalem 00:04:50.25\00:04:53.99 for Christ's second coming. 00:04:54.02\00:04:55.39 Right, it isn't just a matter of sympathy. 00:04:55.42\00:04:57.76 There's a direct agenda. 00:04:57.79\00:04:59.13 There's a direct agenda 00:04:59.16\00:05:00.50 that is focused on their religious beliefs. 00:05:00.53\00:05:02.36 And it's out of fringes, it gets quite bizarre, 00:05:02.40\00:05:05.00 you know, it involves 00:05:05.03\00:05:08.27 perhaps offending Islam there 00:05:08.30\00:05:11.04 with the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Mount, Temple Mount, 00:05:11.07\00:05:15.31 it involves tearing that down or removing it in some way, 00:05:15.34\00:05:18.45 reestablishing the temple worship, 00:05:18.48\00:05:21.55 the red heifer, 00:05:21.58\00:05:22.92 the ideal sacrifice and on we go again. 00:05:22.95\00:05:25.29 I mean, you couldn't create religious conflict 00:05:25.32\00:05:29.19 more directly if you tried than that scenario 00:05:29.22\00:05:32.49 and they're clearly pushing, pushing, pushing. 00:05:32.53\00:05:35.23 And so, it's one thing to have a religious view, 00:05:35.26\00:05:37.33 fine, we're all entitled to that 00:05:37.37\00:05:39.27 as right or wrong as those views may be. 00:05:39.30\00:05:41.80 If we're removed from political power 00:05:41.84\00:05:43.94 and forcing our views on other people, 00:05:43.97\00:05:45.87 no great harm done. 00:05:45.91\00:05:47.54 But to put this in tandem with US policy, 00:05:47.58\00:05:51.51 I think we're entering into a, at the very least, 00:05:51.55\00:05:55.32 a very fraught time. 00:05:55.35\00:05:57.95 But I want to take it a little bit further. 00:05:57.99\00:06:00.49 You brought up dominionism 00:06:00.52\00:06:01.86 which is a term most people know. 00:06:01.89\00:06:04.53 Actually, I found 00:06:04.56\00:06:05.89 that most people don't know that term. 00:06:05.93\00:06:07.80 Well, okay, maybe it's the wrong way 00:06:07.83\00:06:09.63 to put it, but it's commonly used. 00:06:09.66\00:06:11.33 It is commonly used. 00:06:11.37\00:06:12.70 It's not a secret term. 00:06:12.73\00:06:14.07 Right, yeah. 00:06:14.10\00:06:15.60 And I listen to a lot of the people representing it, 00:06:15.64\00:06:19.07 and of course, their spectrum 00:06:19.11\00:06:20.44 and not all of the quite the same mind. 00:06:20.48\00:06:22.28 And it ranges from people 00:06:22.31\00:06:24.95 who are very close to the root origin of dominionism, 00:06:24.98\00:06:30.02 which is Christian reconstructionism. 00:06:30.05\00:06:32.09 And others are just wanting 00:06:32.12\00:06:33.56 sort of to model in this continent. 00:06:33.59\00:06:37.53 You know, the godly nation sort of approach 00:06:37.56\00:06:40.60 and it's more aspirational than anything. 00:06:40.63\00:06:42.63 But one thing that unites them all 00:06:42.66\00:06:44.63 and you got onto it. 00:06:44.67\00:06:46.00 It's in the word, 00:06:46.03\00:06:47.37 it's not custody or stewardship. 00:06:47.40\00:06:50.91 Dominion's control, take, tell, 00:06:50.94\00:06:56.08 and I've seen it expressed in so many words. 00:06:56.11\00:06:58.15 This is the world is ours. 00:06:58.18\00:06:59.51 We can take us much oil out of the ground. 00:06:59.55\00:07:01.78 We don't have to be involved with the conservation. 00:07:01.82\00:07:06.55 That's God gave it to us. 00:07:06.59\00:07:08.26 We can do it with that as we want. 00:07:08.29\00:07:09.99 It's been said, 00:07:10.03\00:07:12.09 but it route the Christian reconstructionism 00:07:12.13\00:07:15.00 which I came across, 00:07:15.03\00:07:16.36 and I've mentioned it on this program 00:07:16.40\00:07:17.73 a number of times, 00:07:17.77\00:07:19.10 but I think it's a clear and present danger 00:07:19.13\00:07:21.27 to clear thinking in the United States. 00:07:21.30\00:07:24.74 It was established by Rushdoony, 00:07:24.77\00:07:26.57 I forget the year, 00:07:26.61\00:07:27.94 but it's been around many, many decades. 00:07:27.98\00:07:29.38 His son-in-law, Gary North carries it on 00:07:29.41\00:07:32.98 and I see him mentioned a lot over the years 00:07:33.01\00:07:36.65 in these gatherings often at the White House. 00:07:36.69\00:07:40.39 And I know that... 00:07:40.42\00:07:41.76 And Gary North has a very... 00:07:41.79\00:07:43.22 He has a very military, militant stance, 00:07:43.26\00:07:46.80 and he talks very militant, when he talks about, 00:07:46.83\00:07:50.27 you know, establishing and dominating 00:07:50.30\00:07:52.67 the world in truth. 00:07:52.70\00:07:54.04 In a nutshell they want an America modeled 00:07:54.07\00:07:57.07 after the Old Testament theocracy. 00:07:57.11\00:07:58.47 Yes. 00:07:58.51\00:07:59.84 Rule by, well, I don't know who the prophet 00:07:59.87\00:08:01.88 or the Shekinah Glory would be, 00:08:01.91\00:08:03.45 but probably the president 00:08:03.48\00:08:06.05 speaking ex cathedra on religious matters, 00:08:06.08\00:08:09.18 and you do what you're told, 00:08:09.22\00:08:10.92 and one of the clear parameters 00:08:10.95\00:08:14.66 of this new nation, 00:08:14.69\00:08:16.39 they've said that the penalties would be mandatory death 00:08:16.42\00:08:19.56 for adultery, 00:08:19.59\00:08:21.63 homosexuality and service breaking. 00:08:21.66\00:08:23.90 I mean, no, I can't think of an easy way 00:08:23.93\00:08:26.50 to explain the totalitarian vision 00:08:26.53\00:08:29.20 that they have done that and, but I would, 00:08:29.24\00:08:31.47 but I say there is good news, about a year and a half ago, 00:08:31.51\00:08:34.08 I'd say one of their representatives 00:08:34.11\00:08:35.54 was on TV. 00:08:35.58\00:08:37.15 And he must have been in a very charitable mood, 00:08:37.18\00:08:39.48 because he said they'd rethought their attitude 00:08:39.51\00:08:42.35 toward gays when they gain control, 00:08:42.38\00:08:45.12 that they would not apply the death penalty 00:08:45.15\00:08:47.26 if people kept quiet about it. 00:08:47.29\00:08:50.16 So there is charity even in such a hardness system. 00:08:50.19\00:08:54.03 But you know, 00:08:54.06\00:08:55.40 I don't myself think in any scenario, 00:08:55.43\00:08:58.23 or even the end of the world scenarios in Revelation, 00:08:58.27\00:09:01.94 I don't think this group 00:09:01.97\00:09:03.37 will ever gain power in their own right. 00:09:03.41\00:09:05.84 But already they've shown an ability 00:09:05.87\00:09:07.94 to bleed across and influence, 00:09:07.98\00:09:10.51 you know, their ideas to bleed across and influence 00:09:10.55\00:09:12.95 the larger Christian community in quite a toxic way I think. 00:09:12.98\00:09:17.62 It is toxic, and it bleeds in a different way too, 00:09:17.65\00:09:22.72 not just into the Christian community, 00:09:22.76\00:09:24.99 but it bleeds outside the Christian community, 00:09:25.03\00:09:27.83 because it hinders our ability 00:09:27.86\00:09:32.00 to show love to other people 00:09:32.03\00:09:34.10 who differ from us. 00:09:34.14\00:09:35.70 Yes, because it isn't true Christianity. 00:09:35.74\00:09:37.67 Great. 00:09:37.71\00:09:39.04 And it gives a false impression 00:09:39.07\00:09:42.21 of what Christians are about. 00:09:42.24\00:09:44.58 And why would anybody want to be friends 00:09:44.61\00:09:46.95 or why would anybody want to seek Christianity, 00:09:46.98\00:09:50.59 if that's what Christianity is about? 00:09:50.62\00:09:53.79 Yeah, it's not attractive to an outsider. 00:09:53.82\00:09:55.29 Right, it bleeds two ways. 00:09:55.32\00:09:57.29 To the insider it gives them and who many of whom 00:09:57.33\00:10:00.23 are from different spreads of life 00:10:00.26\00:10:02.76 and say in the Bible Belt, 00:10:02.80\00:10:04.47 it appeals more to middle or lower class. 00:10:04.50\00:10:08.37 You know, well, people that need the support of religion, 00:10:08.40\00:10:11.67 that's where religion gets its greatest strength 00:10:11.71\00:10:13.34 when people are desperate and needy. 00:10:13.38\00:10:15.54 Well, this empowers them in a great way, 00:10:15.58\00:10:17.61 you know, we're on the winning side, 00:10:17.65\00:10:19.65 we're on the move, we were, 00:10:19.68\00:10:21.18 you know, we've got might on our side. 00:10:21.22\00:10:23.69 I think the dynamic is quite frightening 00:10:23.72\00:10:25.59 if you think it through. 00:10:25.62\00:10:26.99 And when you think it through far enough, 00:10:27.02\00:10:30.43 what scares me is a version of the Christian Taliban, 00:10:30.46\00:10:35.46 where you really and truly 00:10:35.50\00:10:38.10 don't want the US 00:10:38.13\00:10:41.10 maintaining what people's religion will be. 00:10:41.14\00:10:44.87 You don't want laws 00:10:44.91\00:10:46.71 that are going to affect the country 00:10:46.74\00:10:50.58 to be based on Christianity alone. 00:10:50.61\00:10:54.52 We live in a secular society where we can all engage 00:10:54.55\00:10:58.69 despite the fact 00:10:58.72\00:11:00.06 that we may be different religiously. 00:11:00.09\00:11:02.62 And that's really what religious freedom is about 00:11:02.66\00:11:04.69 and what we try to maintain, 00:11:04.73\00:11:06.53 especially with religious liberty 00:11:06.56\00:11:08.66 here in America. 00:11:08.70\00:11:10.03 Many ago I watched 00:11:13.47\00:11:14.84 a rather historic movie called Khartoum 00:11:14.87\00:11:17.81 was some classic British actors. 00:11:17.84\00:11:21.28 And in one scene 00:11:21.31\00:11:22.64 Laurence Olivier playing the Mad Mahdi, 00:11:22.68\00:11:25.78 leading an avenging band of Muslim vigilantes 00:11:25.81\00:11:31.12 was sweeping down the Nile and toward Khartoum. 00:11:31.15\00:11:36.29 And he was talking 00:11:36.32\00:11:37.66 by night to the commander, Lord Gordon, 00:11:37.69\00:11:41.43 who eventually killed 00:11:41.46\00:11:42.80 and he says, you know, the Allah has shown me 00:11:42.83\00:11:47.24 that I will take Khartoum 00:11:47.27\00:11:49.84 and that I will move on to Egypt, 00:11:49.87\00:11:52.77 down to Cairo, it will all be mine, 00:11:52.81\00:11:55.08 it's told to me that this is my destiny. 00:11:55.11\00:11:58.95 Made a good film. 00:11:58.98\00:12:00.38 And of course it was based on history 00:12:00.42\00:12:02.18 and yet those not of that fanatical stance look askance. 00:12:02.22\00:12:07.46 But if we're not careful, even in the United States, 00:12:07.49\00:12:10.83 even in a land as educated and advanced as ours, 00:12:10.86\00:12:15.80 we can fall into that same thought. 00:12:15.83\00:12:19.07 American exceptionalism should not exist, cannot exist 00:12:19.10\00:12:23.61 while there is divine exceptionalism 00:12:23.64\00:12:26.44 and a God that rules on High. 00:12:26.47\00:12:30.51 For liberty Insider, this is Lincoln Steed. 00:12:30.55\00:12:33.15
