Welcome to the Liberty Insider. 00:00:25.29\00:00:26.99 This is a program bringing you discussion, 00:00:27.02\00:00:28.99 news, updates, and insights 00:00:29.02\00:00:31.06 into religious liberty in the US 00:00:31.09\00:00:32.79 and around the world. 00:00:32.83\00:00:34.43 My name is Lincoln Steed, editor of Liberty Magazine. 00:00:34.46\00:00:37.93 And my special guest on this program 00:00:37.97\00:00:39.63 is someone near and dear to me, 00:00:39.67\00:00:41.00 my own teenage son Christopher Steed, 00:00:41.04\00:00:43.97 an up and coming young man with opinions. 00:00:44.01\00:00:46.71 And I want to hear some of them. 00:00:46.74\00:00:48.34 But let me just launch off and set the scene, son. 00:00:48.38\00:00:51.91 Couple of years ago, I took you and your sister and my wife, 00:00:51.95\00:00:56.82 and your mother, on the 3ABN tour to Israel. 00:00:56.85\00:01:00.62 Remember that? I was baptized. 00:01:00.66\00:01:02.36 Absolutely. 00:01:02.39\00:01:03.73 You baptized me in the Jordan River. 00:01:03.76\00:01:05.09 I baptized you on that trip, yeah. 00:01:05.13\00:01:07.96 But I think it gave you sort of an insight 00:01:08.00\00:01:09.96 into the whole background of Christianity 00:01:10.00\00:01:12.93 and the religious reality today to this conflict, 00:01:12.97\00:01:17.67 much of it centers in the Middle East. 00:01:17.71\00:01:19.27 And of course, not long before this program, 00:01:19.31\00:01:22.41 President Trump basically threw a grenade 00:01:22.44\00:01:25.11 into the world religious situation 00:01:25.15\00:01:27.42 by declaring that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. 00:01:27.45\00:01:32.49 Now religious liberty is a big and complicated topic, 00:01:32.52\00:01:35.96 but tell me, is there any way that that visit and that trip 00:01:35.99\00:01:40.56 sort of gave you a new view 00:01:40.60\00:01:43.03 of what it is to stand up for your faith. 00:01:43.06\00:01:45.10 Remember, we stood on the mountain 00:01:45.13\00:01:47.37 and looked over into Syria, right? 00:01:47.40\00:01:48.84 I do remember. 00:01:48.87\00:01:50.67 It was not a clear enough day, but they say, on a clear day, 00:01:50.71\00:01:53.04 you can actually see Damascus 00:01:53.07\00:01:54.44 from the Golan Heights which are Israel now. 00:01:54.48\00:01:57.78 And then we looked across the Sea of Galilee, 00:01:57.81\00:02:00.42 and that was Jordan, 00:02:00.45\00:02:01.78 remember the cars going back and forth? 00:02:01.82\00:02:03.89 And those nations are not friendly 00:02:03.92\00:02:05.85 toward Israel now. 00:02:05.89\00:02:08.32 Well, when we were there, 00:02:08.36\00:02:10.39 I forgot where we were when we were up. 00:02:10.43\00:02:11.79 And I think it was when we went to the Golan Heights, 00:02:11.83\00:02:14.00 I remember looking out, seeing the Sea of Galilee, 00:02:14.03\00:02:17.80 being in the Red Sea, you know, 00:02:17.83\00:02:19.77 being almost everywhere Jesus went 00:02:19.80\00:02:22.10 and seeing how close everything was 00:02:22.14\00:02:25.21 and realizing, "Well," I mean, "Jesus was here, 00:02:25.24\00:02:28.94 I'm here now, what does this mean to me?" 00:02:28.98\00:02:32.21 Made you think more carefully 00:02:32.25\00:02:33.58 then what it is to be a Christian, didn't it? 00:02:33.62\00:02:35.78 Especially when we walked to the River Jordan 00:02:35.82\00:02:38.25 and I was baptized, I was like, you know, 00:02:38.29\00:02:40.26 Jesus may have been baptized 00:02:40.29\00:02:41.62 at the exact same spot as I have been. 00:02:41.66\00:02:44.09 And it touched me deeply. 00:02:44.13\00:02:46.59 It made me think on the bus 00:02:46.63\00:02:49.63 on the ride home after I got baptized, 00:02:49.66\00:02:52.13 I was thinking, you know, 00:02:52.17\00:02:53.87 "Wow, Jesus was baptized in that river, 00:02:53.90\00:02:57.71 in that same river." 00:02:57.74\00:02:59.07 I don't think anybody knows exactly where he was baptized. 00:02:59.11\00:03:01.78 But we know it was in the River Jordan, isn't it? 00:03:01.81\00:03:03.14 Yeah, we know it was in the River Jordan. 00:03:03.18\00:03:04.51 And it very likely was... 00:03:04.55\00:03:05.88 The Jordan flows out of the Sea of Galilee 00:03:05.91\00:03:08.48 and down towards Jerusalem. 00:03:08.52\00:03:10.25 So there's only a few miles. Yeah. 00:03:10.29\00:03:12.05 And it likely was where it was a bit deeper, 00:03:12.09\00:03:13.79 so it couldn't have been more than a mile 00:03:13.82\00:03:15.19 or two from where we were. 00:03:15.22\00:03:16.56 I mean, it might have been exactly the same spot. 00:03:16.59\00:03:18.49 That's the tradition that it was that spot. 00:03:18.53\00:03:19.86 Yeah, and I just... 00:03:19.89\00:03:21.46 But you were following in the pattern that he's set. 00:03:21.50\00:03:23.90 And I just remember thinking, you know, 00:03:23.93\00:03:26.50 "A few miles away from here up on a hill 00:03:26.53\00:03:29.04 is where as well he was murdered for standing... 00:03:29.07\00:03:32.94 For saying what he believed." 00:03:32.97\00:03:35.34 And I was thinking, you know, 00:03:35.38\00:03:36.95 even nowadays in certain countries 00:03:36.98\00:03:39.81 how people are being murdered in the Middle East. 00:03:39.85\00:03:42.68 I mean, I've heard stories from people 00:03:42.72\00:03:44.82 or missionaries out there how... 00:03:44.85\00:03:47.22 I remember a friend of mine, 00:03:47.26\00:03:48.59 his father and mother are missionaries in China. 00:03:48.62\00:03:52.79 And then I remember another friend of mine, 00:03:52.83\00:03:54.30 his parents are out in Vietnam right now. 00:03:54.33\00:03:57.87 A lot of my friends' parents are out being missionaries 00:03:57.90\00:04:00.24 and I hear the stories of them, 00:04:00.27\00:04:02.87 you know, having to hide their Bibles, 00:04:02.90\00:04:05.14 having to walk around 00:04:05.17\00:04:08.91 and be the people where they are. 00:04:08.94\00:04:12.01 And even if they're asked if they're a Christian, 00:04:12.05\00:04:15.88 they have to say no 00:04:15.92\00:04:17.85 because they're scared for their lives. 00:04:17.89\00:04:20.76 Well, that's a personal decision 00:04:20.79\00:04:22.89 someone has to make, sometimes you keep quiet. 00:04:22.92\00:04:24.89 Yes. 00:04:24.93\00:04:26.26 It's another thing to deny your faith, you know? 00:04:26.29\00:04:29.30 Remember this story in the New Testament of Peter, 00:04:29.33\00:04:34.70 the Catholic Church makes an awful lot of Peter, 00:04:34.74\00:04:36.74 you know, he's the first Pope they say. 00:04:36.77\00:04:38.14 Yes. 00:04:38.17\00:04:39.51 There's no real textual evidence 00:04:39.54\00:04:40.98 that he was given the full authority, 00:04:41.01\00:04:43.41 but there's no question from the Bible account, 00:04:43.45\00:04:45.55 Peter was the leader in Jerusalem, 00:04:45.58\00:04:47.48 and in many ways, he was sort of... 00:04:47.52\00:04:50.55 I don't know of the favorite... 00:04:50.59\00:04:51.92 John was the favorite of Jesus. Absolutely. 00:04:51.95\00:04:53.96 The disciple who Jesus loved. Yeah. 00:04:53.99\00:04:55.62 But Peter was sort of the go-to man. 00:04:55.66\00:04:57.76 You know, the leader among the... 00:04:57.79\00:04:59.86 Rough and tough, ready to set his foot out 00:04:59.89\00:05:02.53 and say, "I believe this and this is why!" 00:05:02.56\00:05:05.20 Yeah. 00:05:05.23\00:05:06.57 You know, but it's also interesting, 00:05:06.60\00:05:07.94 Peter, Jesus told him off 00:05:07.97\00:05:09.30 once for saying the wrong thing. 00:05:09.34\00:05:10.67 Yes. He did. 00:05:10.71\00:05:12.04 You know, Peter says, "This won't happen to You. 00:05:12.07\00:05:14.21 You're not going to die." 00:05:14.24\00:05:15.74 Then Jesus says, "Get behind me, Satan." 00:05:15.78\00:05:17.58 Satan, yes. 00:05:17.61\00:05:19.51 He didn't mean Peter was satanic 00:05:19.55\00:05:21.35 but Satan was speaking through him. 00:05:21.38\00:05:22.72 Yeah. These were Satan's ideas. 00:05:22.75\00:05:24.09 But on another occasion, this is what I'm building to, 00:05:24.12\00:05:26.45 Peter says, "I would never betray You, Lord. 00:05:26.49\00:05:28.76 Never! I'd die for You." 00:05:28.79\00:05:30.63 And the rooster crows three times. 00:05:30.66\00:05:31.99 But we say ourselves, you know, "I want to be a strong witness. 00:05:32.03\00:05:34.60 I'll suffer persecution if need be." 00:05:34.63\00:05:37.57 And I hope that we mean it, 00:05:37.60\00:05:39.33 but we're all pretty weak and there are times 00:05:39.37\00:05:41.94 and even missionaries perhaps in India or China 00:05:41.97\00:05:44.77 or somewhere, there's been times, 00:05:44.81\00:05:46.41 to save their own life, they'll say, 00:05:46.44\00:05:47.78 "Oh, no, I'm not a Christian." That's sad. 00:05:47.81\00:05:49.98 And I think they need to repent from that. 00:05:50.01\00:05:52.21 But in theory, a good Christian, 00:05:52.25\00:05:54.48 a good person of any faith 00:05:54.52\00:05:56.22 will own up to their faith and witness for it 00:05:56.25\00:05:59.12 no matter what the cost. 00:05:59.15\00:06:00.89 And remember, Peter denied Jesus 00:06:00.92\00:06:03.32 three times in one night after he said never, you know. 00:06:03.36\00:06:06.73 But Jesus forgave him for it. He did. 00:06:06.76\00:06:09.00 And in my personal view, I think He'll forgive 00:06:09.03\00:06:12.23 those of us who... 00:06:12.27\00:06:13.77 I mean, even under pressure... 00:06:13.80\00:06:15.14 I mean, sometimes I'll give in 00:06:15.17\00:06:16.84 and say whatever, but it's not... 00:06:16.87\00:06:19.77 Like, "I would never deny my faith." 00:06:19.81\00:06:22.04 I mean, I've heard people say that 00:06:22.08\00:06:23.48 and then as soon as they get under pressure, 00:06:23.51\00:06:25.48 they're like, "No, no. I'm not really a Christian." 00:06:25.51\00:06:28.48 But I believe in my own heart, you know, 00:06:28.52\00:06:31.55 I believe someone can have a gun pointed at my head 00:06:31.59\00:06:33.79 and say, "Are you a Christian?" 00:06:33.82\00:06:35.16 And I would look at them straight in the eyes 00:06:35.19\00:06:36.52 and say, "Yes, I am a Christian." 00:06:36.56\00:06:38.93 I mean, even if, then, a bullet 00:06:38.96\00:06:40.40 does go through my head, I will... 00:06:40.43\00:06:41.76 Well, that's a good determination. 00:06:41.80\00:06:43.13 I will die saying that I'm a Christian 00:06:43.16\00:06:44.87 and that I believe that God is the one. 00:06:44.90\00:06:46.23 You know, the Bible says, 00:06:46.27\00:06:48.40 "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." 00:06:48.44\00:06:51.04 And it's been proven over the years 00:06:51.07\00:06:53.21 how weak the flesh is. 00:06:53.24\00:06:54.58 And I've got an example, not just from Christianity, 00:06:54.61\00:06:58.71 in World War... 00:06:58.75\00:07:00.52 Well, all the World Wars and all wars 00:07:00.55\00:07:03.49 where prisoners are taken 00:07:03.52\00:07:04.85 and some of those tortures applied. 00:07:04.89\00:07:06.92 And we've done it in Guantanamo. 00:07:06.96\00:07:08.59 It's sad, the US hasn't yet repudiated that, 00:07:08.62\00:07:11.16 but it's pure and simple torture. 00:07:11.19\00:07:14.36 Like one of the... 00:07:14.40\00:07:16.23 Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a bad guy I'm quite sure, 00:07:16.26\00:07:19.20 we waterboarded him like 80 times. 00:07:19.23\00:07:21.74 That's 80 near-death experiences 00:07:21.77\00:07:24.14 apart from various other things, 00:07:24.17\00:07:25.91 with doctors standing by like the Mengeles of... 00:07:25.94\00:07:28.91 You ever heard of Mengele? 00:07:28.94\00:07:30.38 The Mengeles of our time to make sure he doesn't die. 00:07:30.41\00:07:32.58 Yeah. They're not doctors to help. 00:07:32.61\00:07:34.42 They're to keep him alive for more torture. 00:07:34.45\00:07:38.09 You know, those sort of tortures 00:07:38.12\00:07:39.92 are part of our modern world. 00:07:39.95\00:07:41.36 And the US of course has entered into it, 00:07:41.39\00:07:43.06 but it's hardly only with the US. 00:07:43.09\00:07:45.99 And most times, 00:07:46.03\00:07:47.36 it's been shown that human beings 00:07:47.40\00:07:49.16 can be broken down by excessive physical force 00:07:49.20\00:07:53.77 and psychological manipulation. 00:07:53.80\00:07:55.77 And I don't really think that, in the simplest sense, 00:07:55.80\00:08:01.21 to cave under that is to deny your faith, 00:08:01.24\00:08:04.81 that's to weaken. 00:08:04.85\00:08:06.55 And going back to the reformation. 00:08:06.58\00:08:08.35 You remember we were in Oxford? 00:08:08.38\00:08:10.85 I do remember going to Oxford, yes. 00:08:10.89\00:08:12.22 And do you remember there was a statue there 00:08:12.25\00:08:13.82 for where a couple of the heroes 00:08:13.86\00:08:16.52 had been burned at the stake? 00:08:16.56\00:08:17.96 I pointed it out to you. 00:08:17.99\00:08:19.33 I don't remember exactly where it was, 00:08:19.36\00:08:20.70 but I do remember you pointing out that statue. 00:08:20.73\00:08:22.06 Yeah, Latimer and Ridley, 00:08:22.10\00:08:23.90 I think, were the ones, they were burned. 00:08:23.93\00:08:26.30 And one of them had denied his faith 00:08:26.33\00:08:28.94 under torture a few weeks earlier. 00:08:28.97\00:08:32.07 And then of course 00:08:32.11\00:08:35.14 when he was over the pain was sorry for it 00:08:35.18\00:08:38.05 and reasserted his determination to die. 00:08:38.08\00:08:41.15 And he wanted to die. 00:08:41.18\00:08:44.45 I mean, he was so committed at that point, 00:08:44.49\00:08:46.12 he pretty much wanted to die to atone for his betrayal. 00:08:46.15\00:08:49.12 And I always thought that's very sad 00:08:49.16\00:08:51.09 because he was feeling culpable for his weakness... 00:08:51.13\00:08:54.90 Yeah. A weakness we all have. 00:08:54.93\00:08:58.33 But to be willing to be faithful to the end, 00:08:58.37\00:09:02.84 that's what God wants. 00:09:02.87\00:09:04.24 And then we have to pray for the strength, 00:09:04.27\00:09:06.34 and He'll give a lot of strength, 00:09:06.37\00:09:07.71 but all flesh, at the end of the day, 00:09:07.74\00:09:11.41 is able to be intimidated 00:09:11.45\00:09:14.48 and manipulated by pain by trial. 00:09:14.52\00:09:17.85 Even Job, and I love the Book of Job. 00:09:17.89\00:09:20.42 God said he's a righteous man and upright. 00:09:20.46\00:09:22.86 But Job cursed the day he was born He did. 00:09:22.89\00:09:25.36 When he was under pain. 00:09:25.39\00:09:26.73 And he accused God of harassing him. 00:09:26.76\00:09:29.13 But God didn't do it. 00:09:29.16\00:09:30.50 But it says he kept his integrity. 00:09:30.53\00:09:33.27 And we can do that. 00:09:33.30\00:09:35.47 We can, absolutely. Yeah. 00:09:35.50\00:09:37.57 You know, I was a young man. 00:09:37.61\00:09:39.41 You know, I was young once too, a lot of temptations 00:09:39.44\00:09:42.64 and ups and downs in your faith. 00:09:42.68\00:09:44.45 And you can't let these personal defeats 00:09:44.48\00:09:48.98 play into the devil's idea that you're not good enough, 00:09:49.02\00:09:50.92 you're not gonna make it. 00:09:50.95\00:09:52.29 Of course you're gonna make it, 00:09:52.32\00:09:53.66 of course you can rise above them. 00:09:53.69\00:09:55.39 You can be a strong witness for faith, 00:09:55.42\00:09:57.36 there's no question. 00:09:57.39\00:09:58.93 I heard a story from a friend of mine 00:09:58.96\00:10:01.16 who lived in Nepal for a few years. 00:10:01.20\00:10:05.23 And he lived as a very meager, poor person there, 00:10:05.27\00:10:09.84 working like a laborer. 00:10:09.87\00:10:12.67 And he told me stories 00:10:12.71\00:10:14.88 of how just getting up in the morning 00:10:14.91\00:10:18.88 and not being able to feel his legs 00:10:18.91\00:10:20.58 from how cold it was. 00:10:20.62\00:10:22.35 I mean, he told me, 00:10:22.38\00:10:23.72 "At times, I didn't even believe that 00:10:23.75\00:10:27.32 that there was anything that I could do 00:10:27.36\00:10:29.32 because the people there were stubborn, 00:10:29.36\00:10:31.96 wouldn't bend," but finally, after a while, 00:10:31.99\00:10:35.96 he literally would just wake up, 00:10:36.00\00:10:37.33 and the first thing in the morning, 00:10:37.37\00:10:38.70 the first thing he would do, he didn't care 00:10:38.73\00:10:40.07 if there was snow next to his bed, 00:10:40.10\00:10:42.14 he would kneel down and pray every morning. 00:10:42.17\00:10:45.27 And at the end of... 00:10:45.31\00:10:46.64 I think he was there for two months or something. 00:10:46.68\00:10:48.48 I don't remember exactly all the details. 00:10:48.51\00:10:50.35 But he told me at the end of his mission there, 00:10:50.38\00:10:55.32 there was... 00:10:55.35\00:10:56.69 I believe he said 15 or 20 of the men 00:10:56.72\00:10:58.89 in the village came to him 00:10:58.92\00:11:00.66 and thanked him for being there, 00:11:00.69\00:11:02.59 and thanked him for witnessing to them, 00:11:02.62\00:11:04.63 thanked him for giving them his point of view. 00:11:04.66\00:11:08.66 And they asked him would he stay longer 00:11:08.70\00:11:11.20 and baptize them. 00:11:11.23\00:11:12.63 And so he stayed on, 00:11:12.67\00:11:14.00 I think I believe it was another month 00:11:14.04\00:11:15.37 or month and a half or half a month, 00:11:15.40\00:11:16.74 I can't remember exactly. 00:11:16.77\00:11:18.11 And I remember, he tells me he and his family baptized, 00:11:18.14\00:11:21.81 I believe it was 34 people total, 00:11:21.84\00:11:24.85 men and women. That's wonderful. 00:11:24.88\00:11:26.28 It's very hard to influence people 00:11:26.31\00:11:28.38 in that part of the world. 00:11:28.42\00:11:29.75 And now he gets a letter every month from... 00:11:29.78\00:11:33.19 They call him the village chief, 00:11:33.22\00:11:35.92 the leader of the village. 00:11:35.96\00:11:37.53 And now they've built a full church. 00:11:37.56\00:11:41.50 And now over half the village goes to church every Sabbath. 00:11:41.53\00:11:46.43 Wonderful. Wonderful. 00:11:46.47\00:11:50.57 I don't think I've told you about Sabbath in Nepal. 00:11:50.61\00:11:53.41 And I don't think, on this television program, 00:11:53.44\00:11:55.51 I've even shared, but in 1988, 00:11:55.54\00:11:59.01 with your mother, I went to Nepal to interview 00:11:59.05\00:12:02.72 an Adventist doctor and to get his life story 00:12:02.75\00:12:05.15 which I read up in book called The Last Mountain. 00:12:05.19\00:12:07.92 Which I have in my room on my book shelf. 00:12:07.96\00:12:09.39 Yeah. And I've read it. 00:12:09.42\00:12:11.66 And that really impressed me to go to Nepal. 00:12:11.69\00:12:14.30 Even to this day, 00:12:14.33\00:12:15.66 Nepal is sort of a closed country in many ways. 00:12:15.70\00:12:19.23 It was a combination Hindu and Buddhist culture, 00:12:19.27\00:12:24.11 on the upper north of India near Tibet. 00:12:24.14\00:12:28.34 You know, you can see from where we stayed, 00:12:28.38\00:12:31.05 just on the outskirts of Kathmandu, 00:12:31.08\00:12:32.51 you can see the Mount Everest. 00:12:32.55\00:12:34.45 In fact, flying into Nepal, we saw Mount Everest 00:12:34.48\00:12:37.62 way before we arrived there. 00:12:37.65\00:12:39.45 We're at a cruising altitude 00:12:39.49\00:12:41.46 and suddenly here's this mountain sticking up 00:12:41.49\00:12:43.22 through the cloud, higher than we fly. 00:12:43.26\00:12:44.96 Yeah. Amazing place. 00:12:44.99\00:12:47.90 And most people don't realize that 00:12:47.93\00:12:50.17 Nepal has always been a difficult culture 00:12:50.20\00:12:53.20 to reach with Christianity certainly. 00:12:53.23\00:12:57.07 But they've had horrible political events recently. 00:12:57.11\00:13:01.41 I think it's called the Shining Way, 00:13:01.44\00:13:02.88 Buddhist Marxist 00:13:02.91\00:13:07.78 revolution reached a peak. 00:13:07.82\00:13:10.42 There was a crazy murder where the royal family... 00:13:10.45\00:13:13.86 One of the royal family killed... 00:13:13.89\00:13:15.22 I think it was 60 members of the royal family. 00:13:15.26\00:13:17.26 It was just a massacre of the ruling class. 00:13:17.29\00:13:20.36 And then the guerillas finally took over. 00:13:20.40\00:13:22.56 It's basically a Marxist regime at the moment. 00:13:22.60\00:13:26.84 And yet among it all, 00:13:26.87\00:13:28.20 people between all those cultural 00:13:28.24\00:13:30.67 and political events, 00:13:30.71\00:13:32.57 there are missionaries that are working there. 00:13:32.61\00:13:35.64 And I will never forget, 00:13:35.68\00:13:37.98 never forget coming in from Kathmandu 00:13:38.01\00:13:40.98 on a little bus 00:13:41.02\00:13:42.35 where there were chickens on the floor. 00:13:42.38\00:13:44.15 You've told me... Chickens on the floor... 00:13:44.19\00:13:46.15 And people squatting there naked... 00:13:46.19\00:13:48.22 Not naked but barely clothed, looking at us. 00:13:48.26\00:13:51.23 I was like, "Where are we going?" 00:13:51.26\00:13:52.59 And we drove up into the hills to this little village. 00:13:52.63\00:13:55.33 They dumped us in the middle of town. 00:13:55.36\00:13:59.10 And I didn't know where we were going. 00:13:59.13\00:14:00.47 I was looking for this hospital, 00:14:00.50\00:14:01.84 Scheer Memorial Hospital and trying to ask around 00:14:01.87\00:14:06.04 'cause most of them don't speak English. 00:14:06.07\00:14:07.94 And I can remember walking up this little hill 00:14:07.98\00:14:10.58 toward this dispensary. 00:14:10.61\00:14:12.51 It was like something out of a dream. 00:14:12.55\00:14:14.78 But to see that hospital, this doctor I interviewed, 00:14:14.82\00:14:17.92 other Christian doctors caring for their needs 00:14:17.95\00:14:20.86 and there's misshapen legs and arms and limbs and diseases 00:14:20.89\00:14:25.63 that will curl your hair and yet they're showing 00:14:25.66\00:14:28.16 Christ to those people. 00:14:28.20\00:14:29.66 That's really what takes the guts. 00:14:29.70\00:14:31.93 It does, yes. 00:14:31.97\00:14:33.37 In many ways more than, you know, gritting your teeth 00:14:33.40\00:14:36.71 while they pull your fingernails out. 00:14:36.74\00:14:38.87 That sort of momentary pain can overwhelm anyone. 00:14:38.91\00:14:41.28 But to consistently stick with the witness 00:14:41.31\00:14:44.25 against opposition, cultural and legal... 00:14:44.28\00:14:46.65 And in Nepal, still, they don't want missionaries. 00:14:46.68\00:14:50.52 They often get ejected 00:14:50.55\00:14:51.89 or if they go home for a holiday, 00:14:51.92\00:14:53.25 not allowed back in. 00:14:53.29\00:14:54.62 So it's very hard to stay there. 00:14:54.66\00:14:56.89 We'll be back after a short break, 00:14:56.93\00:14:58.56 stay with us. 00:14:58.59\00:14:59.93 Good discussions, interesting analogies 00:14:59.96\00:15:01.70 and illustrations of religious freedom and practice. 00:15:01.73\00:15:04.97
