Welcome back to the Liberty Insider. 00:00:02.50\00:00:04.13 Before the break with author Scott Christiansen, 00:00:04.14\00:00:06.36 we were talking about his book 'Planet in Distress. 00:00:06.37\00:00:10.39 I keep thinking about the global decline 00:00:10.40\00:00:12.19 --system decline which it's really about, 00:00:12.20\00:00:14.07 but it's called Planet in Distress. 00:00:14.08\00:00:15.67 Yes you do. 00:00:15.68\00:00:16.65 And in the first half of the program 00:00:16.66\00:00:18.35 I was teasing you out a bit on not just your book, 00:00:18.36\00:00:21.29 but your own philosophy which has led you 00:00:21.30\00:00:24.31 to the back blocks of western Maine. 00:00:24.32\00:00:29.64 Yeah. You know, 00:00:29.86\00:00:31.79 I wouldn't really call you a survivalist. 00:00:31.80\00:00:33.46 No, no, no. But still you really, 00:00:33.47\00:00:35.66 you know its a little different existence, 00:00:35.67\00:00:37.96 the living in one of the suburbs 00:00:37.97\00:00:39.32 of L.A. or New York. Very much. 00:00:39.33\00:00:41.43 And so I put you back more on self-sufficiency 00:00:41.44\00:00:44.02 and in a position as anyone that moves out of a city 00:00:44.03\00:00:47.43 you can see the natural systems at work. 00:00:47.44\00:00:49.62 You're participating in it. Yes, absolutely. 00:00:49.63\00:00:51.74 But let's revisit again what you put out so, 00:00:52.43\00:00:56.67 well I think and consistently in this book. 00:00:56.68\00:00:58.95 The idea that after sin which was the break 00:00:58.96\00:01:02.81 with Creator's original intent. 00:01:02.82\00:01:04.73 Man through his own actions and the world 00:01:04.74\00:01:07.77 really through the entropy that separation introduced. 00:01:07.78\00:01:11.80 As we're now part of just descending 00:01:11.81\00:01:16.93 cycle of system collapse, 00:01:16.94\00:01:18.33 the food systems, the man zone systems. 00:01:18.34\00:01:20.96 You know, we're in the middle of financial collapse now. 00:01:20.97\00:01:24.98 Those things are not improving. 00:01:24.99\00:01:26.45 It's getting more and more on wheel 00:01:26.46\00:01:28.68 if we mandate to maintain these systems. 00:01:28.69\00:01:31.03 Well, and are always interlinked. 00:01:31.04\00:01:32.73 Now, going back to your point 00:01:32.74\00:01:34.74 and Adventists certainly in Christians 00:01:34.75\00:01:37.77 generally have not typically connected end time 00:01:37.78\00:01:44.92 events or even the ongoing decay of moral--. 00:01:44.93\00:01:48.29 With the ecological sense. With an ecological sense, 00:01:48.30\00:01:50.69 right, right, I mean its environmentalism, 00:01:50.70\00:01:53.63 you know, what a terrible thing. 00:01:53.64\00:01:55.01 But and I'm not suggesting of course, 00:01:55.02\00:01:58.21 that everyone go out and you know, plant a tree. 00:01:58.22\00:02:01.25 Well, that's not a bad thing. But I'm not suggesting 00:02:01.26\00:02:03.38 that every one all a sudden dramatically change their life 00:02:03.39\00:02:06.79 in order to benefit the earth. 00:02:06.80\00:02:08.65 That's a good thing but if we are going 00:02:08.66\00:02:11.74 to dramatically change our lives. 00:02:11.75\00:02:13.27 Let's dramatically change our lives 00:02:13.28\00:02:14.82 in the service of Christ. 00:02:14.83\00:02:16.08 The point of the book is that the earth 00:02:16.09\00:02:19.15 has decayed to such a state and is now beginning 00:02:19.16\00:02:21.77 to very rapidly decay. 00:02:21.78\00:02:23.07 So we can now see the fulfillment of prophecy. 00:02:23.08\00:02:25.48 Specifically, Mathew 24 and in within Mathew 24, 00:02:25.49\00:02:28.99 specifically, verses 6 through 8. 00:02:29.00\00:02:30.92 We can see the prophecies made by Christ 00:02:30.93\00:02:33.55 Himself begin to come true 00:02:33.56\00:02:34.98 and we can certainly see the forces built. 00:02:34.99\00:02:36.91 There are some people may not be familiar 00:02:36.92\00:02:38.68 with those verses, what doe Christ says specifically in-- 00:02:38.69\00:02:41.05 Well, He says, there will be wars and rumors of wars. 00:02:41.06\00:02:44.47 Nation will rise against. That sounds familiar. 00:02:44.48\00:02:46.34 That--that sounds again familiar. 00:02:46.35\00:02:47.90 Nation will rise against nation. 00:02:47.91\00:02:49.38 And in an age of resource scarcity, 00:02:49.39\00:02:52.21 growing scarcity nation is already 00:02:52.22\00:02:54.43 positioning themselves to rise against nation. 00:02:54.44\00:02:57.03 Once you begin to see the pattern, 00:02:57.04\00:02:58.53 it's easy to see the conflicts. 00:02:58.54\00:02:59.95 Once you see the pattern, a lot of what make sense. 00:02:59.96\00:03:02.78 Like every one thinks for example, 00:03:02.79\00:03:05.19 that the war between Syria and Israel is just 00:03:05.20\00:03:09.09 sort of an ethnic jealous and ancestral war. 00:03:09.10\00:03:14.56 There is water wars between Syria and Israel 00:03:14.57\00:03:17.64 that are life or death. 00:03:17.65\00:03:19.02 And so to have access to the Jordan 00:03:19.03\00:03:20.95 or these aquifers is almost worth 00:03:20.96\00:03:23.88 up for them to go to war over. 00:03:23.89\00:03:24.92 You know, it's interesting you say that because 00:03:24.93\00:03:26.98 if you take a look at the water reservoirs in Israel. 00:03:26.99\00:03:32.38 They're at an all time low. 00:03:32.39\00:03:34.14 The Sea of Galilee which is the main reservoir 00:03:34.15\00:03:36.89 is what they call is at the black line. 00:03:36.90\00:03:39.19 They are not able to-- it has declined 00:03:39.20\00:03:41.48 so far the water levels have dropped 00:03:41.49\00:03:42.86 so far that they drop below the inlets to the pumps. 00:03:42.87\00:03:45.31 The equipment doesn't work 00:03:45.32\00:03:46.50 and this is what the nation relies on. 00:03:46.51\00:03:48.12 Now I've been reading and following it for longtime 00:03:48.13\00:03:49.87 and that's looming crisis that in some ways 00:03:49.88\00:03:52.94 even supersedes this-- this ongoing war 00:03:52.95\00:03:57.31 that you can track back to biblical times even. 00:03:57.32\00:03:59.45 You know, it's not that new. 00:03:59.46\00:04:00.69 Well, and you know Israel is on record 00:04:00.70\00:04:02.76 as saying that The War of 1968 00:04:02.77\00:04:05.17 had a tremendous amount to do with water. 00:04:05.18\00:04:07.65 And they designed the borders that they expanded it 00:04:07.66\00:04:11.87 in that war in order to accomplish again in water. 00:04:11.88\00:04:15.07 Going back to Mathew 24, Christ said, 00:04:15.08\00:04:19.65 that we will see a famine, that we'll see pestilents, 00:04:19.66\00:04:23.00 that we will see earthquakes in diverse places. 00:04:23.01\00:04:28.39 All of these things with the exception 00:04:29.24\00:04:30.77 of earthquake, I've to admit. 00:04:30.78\00:04:32.24 There is an explanation for that, 00:04:34.02\00:04:35.17 but all of these other things that Christ said. 00:04:35.18\00:04:37.53 We can see coming as a result 00:04:37.54\00:04:40.44 of the destabilization of the earth systems. 00:04:40.45\00:04:43.49 The very things that God created 00:04:43.50\00:04:45.04 to sustain life on the planet. 00:04:45.05\00:04:46.32 Why would you make an exception for earthquakes? 00:04:46.33\00:04:48.28 Well, it's more difficult 00:04:48.29\00:04:50.44 the science is not there to stand on right now. 00:04:51.38\00:04:54.72 It hasn't been greatly researched. 00:04:54.73\00:04:55.93 We know that the very founding-- 00:04:55.94\00:04:57.92 Circumstantial evidence-- 00:04:57.93\00:04:58.90 Circumstantial evidence, absolutely. 00:04:58.91\00:04:59.89 I look at this and I say, Satan cannot maintain 00:05:00.76\00:05:03.66 in perfect balance or even in any balance 00:05:03.67\00:05:06.50 at all what God created. 00:05:06.51\00:05:07.91 And the very foundations of earth are shaken. 00:05:07.92\00:05:10.08 You know, its interesting sin causing destabilization 00:05:11.11\00:05:16.28 throughout the planet causes us to look at everything 00:05:16.29\00:05:20.36 including biblical prophecy differently. 00:05:20.37\00:05:22.88 Absolutely, but let's look at the earthquake. 00:05:22.89\00:05:25.35 You know, if you draw the aquifers down, 00:05:25.36\00:05:27.20 that changes the very make up of the land masses self 00:05:27.21\00:05:31.18 it starts stretching cracking and all the rest. 00:05:31.19\00:05:33.18 Yeah. Man has exploited, have lost track of it. 00:05:33.19\00:05:39.20 But its tens of thousands 00:05:39.21\00:05:40.69 of nuclear bombs underground. 00:05:40.70\00:05:42.50 And they're fracking, they're fracking. 00:05:42.51\00:05:44.20 That's where I'm getting to-- the first of all the depletion 00:05:44.21\00:05:47.59 of underground reservoirs of oil. 00:05:47.60\00:05:49.76 That's like the lubricant between 00:05:49.77\00:05:52.53 plates and alloys often. 00:05:52.54\00:05:53.90 And then even adding an insult to that injury, 00:05:53.91\00:05:56.75 now fracking inserting under pressure what its, 00:05:56.76\00:06:00.56 its water sometimes, but under pressure 00:06:00.57\00:06:02.70 a fluid to force out gas and sometimes gasoline 00:06:02.71\00:06:06.78 just messing with the very structure of the earth. 00:06:06.79\00:06:09.49 Yes, there's other things like tectonic plate movement 00:06:11.10\00:06:13.53 that is independent of what we can do. 00:06:13.54\00:06:15.53 But I think we've upset, we've upset the balance 00:06:15.54\00:06:18.38 to some degree by our very own actions 00:06:18.39\00:06:20.61 that are now on the scale that mani 00:06:20.62\00:06:23.18 and prehistory couldn't have imagined. 00:06:23.19\00:06:24.66 This is the emerging science and it's not settled, 00:06:24.67\00:06:27.55 so I don't quote it. 00:06:27.56\00:06:28.83 My book is extensively referenced and footnoted, 00:06:28.84\00:06:31.93 because it has to do with science. 00:06:31.94\00:06:34.83 And I didn't want to put out something 00:06:34.84\00:06:37.07 that I couldn't stand on. 00:06:37.08\00:06:38.50 But what you're talking about is the emerging science. 00:06:39.46\00:06:41.54 And interestingly enough all over the world, 00:06:41.58\00:06:43.90 we've drawn down aquifers tremendously 00:06:43.91\00:06:46.19 and at an unsustainable rate. 00:06:46.20\00:06:47.46 You take a look at Midwest 00:06:47.47\00:06:49.51 and something called the Ogallala Aquifer. 00:06:50.97\00:06:53.66 I know you read a bit on this. 00:06:53.67\00:06:54.74 Yeah, the Ogallala Aquifer oh, it's a big deal. 00:06:54.75\00:06:56.44 Yes. The Ogallala Aquifer underlies eight states 00:06:56.45\00:06:59.61 and provides all the water needed for use in homes, 00:06:59.62\00:07:04.62 for use in industry and most significantly for use in crops. 00:07:04.63\00:07:08.47 And so there's tremendous amount of grains produced 00:07:08.48\00:07:11.10 in the U.S. that is reliant on the Ogallala Aquifer. 00:07:11.11\00:07:14.44 Well this Ogallala Aquifer, it's been extensively studied. 00:07:14.65\00:07:19.27 It runs out of water in 25 years 00:07:19.28\00:07:22.54 and that's a huge reduction in food. 00:07:23.63\00:07:26.04 And in fact you know, the edges are shrinking now, 00:07:26.88\00:07:28.89 where it's already going on. 00:07:28.90\00:07:30.04 But it's not isolated, this is happening allover the world. 00:07:30.05\00:07:33.17 Now, the aquifers going down, that's a necessary 00:07:33.18\00:07:37.91 part of food production in the breadbasket of the U.S. 00:07:37.92\00:07:43.05 And in India and in China. 00:07:43.06\00:07:44.82 Yeah, you were talking about the U.S. 00:07:44.83\00:07:46.00 with the Ogallala Aquifer. 00:07:46.01\00:07:48.58 But then you throw in the other thing 00:07:48.59\00:07:50.37 that we spoke about in another program, 00:07:50.38\00:07:52.50 the reliance on fossil fuels for fertilizer. 00:07:52.51\00:07:57.27 Absolutely. Most people don't realize that 00:07:57.28\00:07:59.04 within now largely because the first phase ran out. 00:07:59.05\00:08:02.96 The super phosphates, the Guano 00:08:03.78\00:08:06.08 and all the rest of islands like Nauru, it's gone. 00:08:06.19\00:08:08.43 It's right. And they were deposits 00:08:08.44\00:08:12.25 that were 100 of feet thick of both 00:08:12.26\00:08:14.01 droppings over the millennia. 00:08:14.10\00:08:15.66 That's gone in natural resources. 00:08:16.90\00:08:18.61 And Australia was involved with the strangest sort 00:08:18.62\00:08:22.07 of the trade around 9/11 refugees 00:08:22.08\00:08:26.24 from little bit after 9/11. 00:08:26.25\00:08:28.52 Refugees from Iraq tried there make their way to Australia. 00:08:28.53\00:08:32.43 And Australia intercepted in the Christmas 00:08:32.44\00:08:34.74 Island imprisoned them. 00:08:34.75\00:08:36.87 Some of them sewed there mouth shut 00:08:36.88\00:08:39.90 in reaction which is a strange thing. 00:08:39.91\00:08:43.62 So, in the end rather than sending them to Australia, 00:08:43.63\00:08:46.57 Australia sold them to Nauru $16,000 a head as I remember. 00:08:46.58\00:08:51.67 Wow. That was the deal and Nauru 00:08:51.68\00:08:53.18 took them and now they're citizens of Nauru, 00:08:53.21\00:08:54.95 that's their only income. They did island a favor. 00:08:54.96\00:08:58.09 Wow. But that's a strange story 00:08:58.10\00:09:01.19 to underscore that there's an incredible depletion 00:09:01.20\00:09:03.58 of what was a global resource there of Guano. 00:09:03.59\00:09:06.91 Now we're on to gasoline by products for fertilizer 00:09:06.92\00:09:11.32 and we know that even though it may or may not run out 00:09:11.33\00:09:15.08 in the next few decades depending on how you, 00:09:15.09\00:09:17.09 you know, whether you get 20 00:09:17.10\00:09:19.22 or 40 miles per gallon on your cab, 00:09:19.23\00:09:20.65 but it certainly going to make the stress 00:09:20.66\00:09:22.17 on the use of it for agriculture. 00:09:22.18\00:09:24.02 So something is in the offering. 00:09:24.03\00:09:26.62 Most people don't realize that we've now 00:09:26.63\00:09:29.33 a global industrial food production system. 00:09:29.34\00:09:32.50 There is very little backyard farming anymore. 00:09:32.51\00:09:36.00 And our global food production system is completely reliant 00:09:36.01\00:09:39.62 upon petroleum in the form of fertilizers 00:09:39.63\00:09:42.14 and in the form of pesticides 00:09:42.15\00:09:44.03 and also in the form of power for the machinery. 00:09:44.04\00:09:46.13 Absolutely, because its--. 00:09:46.14\00:09:47.20 Absolutely reliant. Huge machines. 00:09:47.21\00:09:48.68
