Testament Book of Daniel

version of the battle

between good and evil.

did the world begin?

a story of Adam and Eve

So here's Jerusalem,

the enemy comes, and he
takes captive the people of God.

think of what took place here.

get a bigger picture

of this battle as it unfolds.

So it's like the story of
the beginning of the world

got coming out of good

and into like an evil situation.

the first of mankind
were created in His image,

but then we have
the story of the fall.

taking captive mankind.

all of God's
people in this world,

kind of like a symbolism

between Jerusalem and Babylon,

Let's go over to Chapter 12 now,

which is the focus
of our study today.

which is, as we were discussing,

kind of like an extension

of the previous chapter
because it says at that time,

commenting on
what's gone before,

"At that time
Michael shall stand up,

the great prince who stands

watch over the
sons of your people.

And there shall
be a time of trouble,

such as never was
since there was a nation,

even to that time.

And at that time your
people shall be delivered,

bring us good news or bad news?

Ultimately, good news.

It starts at that time,
we must say that this refers

to the end of Chapter 11,

of the future events

when, "The king of
the South shall plant

the tents of his palace

Most recognize that
this is still future.

So in a future
time, Jesus will stand up,

be a time of trouble.

But after that
trouble comes salvation,

deliverance, and justice.

And the same pitch

the Book of Revelation,

which is good
news for His people.

And this is what God
would have His people

for upon the future deliverance.

Okay, one of the
interesting features

of the Book of Daniel, is
that the first 11 chapters

or every verse,
verse 1 of every chapter

name of a pagan king.

about chapter 12?

Well, Chapters 1, 5, 7 and 8.

Chapter 1 starts with
the King Nebuchadnezzar,

and 5, 7, 8 begin
with the King Belshazzar.

These start with
pagan, Babylonian kings.

And then we have
Chapters 6, 9, 10, 11.

They all begin
with Medo-Persian kings.

And that was Darius,
00:05:43.94\00:05:45.47
and one there of
Chapter 10 begins with Cyrus.

But Chapter 12 begins
with the heavenly prince
00:05:48.54\00:05:52.05
his name is Michael.
00:05:52.08\00:05:53.65
And we read in 10:13.
00:05:53.68\00:05:58.69
He is called a one
of the chief princes
00:05:58.72\00:06:02.22
or great princes.
00:06:02.26\00:06:03.59
And if you go back to 12:1,
he is called the great prince.
00:06:03.63\00:06:08.30
He is the heavenly prince
who stands for his people.
00:06:08.33\00:06:11.17
So Daniel wants us to lift,
00:06:11.20\00:06:13.80
as he often does
in Chapter 7 and 8.

He wants us to take our
focus on what the bad things

that are happening in the
world with these evil kingdoms

and put our focus
in the heavenly realm

where we have a great
prince who is standing up

and representing his people.

Okay, so this is
an important point,

isn't it about who Michael is?

we find a reference to a Christ.

He's intercessory.

stands for your people.

but from the earth and

The wicked seemed to go out
and try to kill God's people,

but to stop them the

plagues from God fall on those

And so these plagues stop them

from attacking and
killing God's people,

which is good news.

So now we need to realize,

called spiritual Babylon.
