00:56 to my good friend here with me in the kitchen.
00:59 Her name is Kyong Weathersby.
01:01 Welcome Kyong, we're so glad to have you.
01:03 Oh, thank you. I am so happy to be here.
01:05 That's right. And cooking you with again.
01:07 That's right. We always have a really good
01:09 time in the kitchen when Kyong and I get together
01:12 and get to cook, amen. She's been here several
01:13 times before to 3ABN, but for those you
01:16 who maybe new and who missed her program.
01:18 We want to show you just a little about
01:20 her ministry. Tell us about your Taste of Heaven
01:22 ministry? Taste of Heaven ministry,
01:24 I've been talking to you several times about, yes.
01:27 And God call me go out and teach the people
01:30 how to cook healthy because so many people
01:33 are suffering from the, you know, poor diet,
01:37 absolutely. So I have been doing and working
01:39 for the Lord. For how many years?
01:40 About 8 years. 8 years. Yes. Oh, that's neat,
01:44 that's wonderful. Now you're originally from Korea,
01:46 but you and your husband live in Arkansas.
01:48 Mena, Arkansas. Okay, and you travel around,
01:51 right, and do cooking schools and.
01:53 Yes, wherever that God called me that's where
01:55 we go. Amen, that's right, amen, that's right.
01:57 Now you also have some cook books out
01:59 we want to talk about. Tell me about your
02:00 cook books? My ministry name is Taste of Heaven,
02:04 so we call it my cook book a Taste of Heaven
02:08 of course. That's the good name, that's right.
02:10 And when God inspired me to write a one cook book
02:13 and I said, oh, Lord you got to help me.
02:16 He inspired me so many recipe,
02:18 so now I have five cook books.
02:21 Taste of Heaven book I to book V. Yes.
02:25 And the fourth cook book is all about main dishes.
02:28 The fourth one is the main dishes. Right.
02:30 Then fifth cook book, is all about healthy dessert.
02:33 You are the one actually inspired me
02:36 to write this cook book so. That's right.
02:38 I am going to dedicate to you too.
02:39 I am always telling Kyong how much I like dessert,
02:43 and you who watch 3ABN you know that too,
02:45 but anyway just came up with this cook book
02:47 and it's really good, hot off the press,
02:49 I just got my own copy. Yes. Yes.
02:52 I have to share with you. That's right, that's good,
02:54 that's really exciting. Now you have a website
02:56 as well, what's your website?
02:57 kyongcw.com. kyongcw.com,
03:06 yes, okay, good. You will find many,
03:08 many delicious recipes. That's right, oh that's
03:10 good. Now how do you come up with your recipes?
03:12 I pray a lot. Praise God.
03:15 Because we use to eat lots of meat dishes
03:18 and cheese and eggs. Yeah, absolutely.
03:20 So when God want us to eat healthy and
03:23 I pray a lot and he inspired me, you know,
03:26 I always wonder how people write inspiration song,
03:30 right. But I understand now because God just
03:33 inspired me with the many, many delicious
03:35 recipe and when he inspired me it's got
03:40 to be good, and the best recipe in the world.
03:42 That's right because God knows what he's doing.
03:43 Yes. That's right. Well, he inspired
03:45 you to do some patties recipes.
03:46 We're gonna share with our friends today.
03:48 Let's read our first recipe.
03:51 For the Zucchini Patties, you need:
03:53 1 zucchini, sliced 1/8" thick
03:56 unbleached white flour sea salt, and
04:00 1 recipe of "Wet Batter Mix"
04:05 For the Wet Batter Mix, you need:
04:06 1 cup unbleached white flour
04:08 1/4 cup wheat germ ½ tsp. sea salt
04:13 1 ½ tsp. onion powder ½ tsp. garlic powder
04:19 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
04:22 ½ tbsp. baking powder, and 1 1/4 cup water
04:28 Okay, this looks pretty fun here.
04:31 Yes, it is. Okay, I am going to show you
04:33 what we need to do with this zucchini.
04:36 Alright. The zucchini need to slice about
04:40 1/8 inches thick. Yeah. I don't want it to be too
04:44 thick; I don't want it to be too thin, yes.
04:48 Okay, so I'm gonna just show few.
04:50 All about the same sizes what you looking for.
04:52 Then I'm gonna go ahead and lay here
04:55 and place here. Maybe I can slice a little more.
05:00 Okay, yeah, that's good.
05:03 We want them to be together. Yeah,
05:05 that's right. If you have own garden
05:06 you can grow your own zucchini and
05:08 that will be breakfast. Oh! Yes. I love to
05:10 grow my zucchini in summer time.
05:13 Oh, yeah. That's so good.
05:15 Absolutely. Okay, and they're very high
05:18 in vitamin B1, B6, well, what you do after you
05:21 slice it, you put it on the nice plate, okay.
05:24 Then you need sprinkle with sea salt on top
05:27 of it, okay, because actually this one has
05:30 no flavor, then you turn it over like this.
05:35 Then you put salt on the other side.
05:37 Then you're going to put some salt on both sides.
05:39 Yeah, that makes good sense.
05:43 If you are worrying about sodium,
05:46 then you don't have to put anything on it.
05:48 Oh, okay, you could do with that.
05:49 Okay, after that what I usually do at home
05:54 I wait to let it set for about 5 minutes,
05:58 but I'm gonna go. What's the purpose in that,
06:00 why would you do this? I know once the salt is
06:02 set into it and you will have the moisture
06:05 coming out, because I am going to dip it
06:07 in the flour. Yes, that makes sense.
06:10 Yeah, so I would go ahead to our next step,
06:13 okay, I will just use with my hand.
06:17 Okay, yeah, she washed her hands I saw.
06:18 Dip it in here. Good, so we are breading
06:22 them basically. That's what we are doing.
06:25 The reason we have to do it if you don't once you
06:30 put it in the wet batter they are separating
06:33 because it has lot of moisture, yes.
06:37 So, this one very important you have
06:40 to do that, okay, and while I am starting this,
06:45 I might preparing this recipe,
06:48 I'm kind of white zucchini will be good for us.
06:51 Yes, that's right. And I found that they,
06:53 it's really good for indigestion, so okay.
06:55 So when people has like upset stomach it
06:59 will be really good for them, also people
07:02 have a high blood pressures, yes,
07:04 is supposed to be good for high blood pressure.
07:06 Yeah, very good. Yeah, and also contains
07:08 B vitamin 1, okay, and B6, you know,
07:12 B vitamin 1 is such a good for central nervous
07:14 system, okay. I love zucchini, even not
07:18 with any of the good stuff in it,
07:19 but I just love to eat it, it's so good.
07:21 One of my favorite vegetables I think.
07:24 Oh, it's my favorite too. Is that really?
07:26 Yeah, okay, I'm gonna go ahead
07:27 and do it only here. And what I do over here?
07:31 Just go ahead and add all the ingredients
07:34 in the bowl. Start with anything and.
07:36 Oh, you have to start with unbleached white flour.
07:38 Okay. I am going to turn this one while you're doing.
07:42 Turn it out. And the wheat germ.
07:43 The wheat germ, now you are adding the
07:45 wheat germ because it gives us some nutrients back,
07:46 right. Yes, you know, unbleached white flour
07:48 kind of refined So I am adding some wheat
07:51 germ to give some vitamin E and, yeah,
07:54 that's right, and fibers, irons.
07:58 This nutrition yeast flakes B1, B2, B6,
08:02 B12 and it gives such a good flavor.
08:05 That's garlic powder. Okay, this is onion.
08:07 Add this onion powder. Okay, sea salt.
08:11 Sea salt, yes. Sea salt contains more calcium
08:14 and potassium, magnesium.
08:16 So that's why I would like to use sea salt.
08:18 Instead of the regular one like pepper salt,
08:19 alright, okay. Now this is baking powder
08:22 but this is special kind and what kind
08:23 of baking powder is it? It doesn't contains
08:25 any baking soda or no aluminum, okay.
08:29 So it's healthiest kind you can find.
08:31 Yes, so our friends at home if they want to
08:34 look in the grocery store they can just
08:35 read the ingredients list and look for no
08:37 baking soda and no aluminum, okay.
08:39 Let's go and add some water. Alright, add it all.
08:44 Yeah, you can add all 1 1/4 cup water,
08:46 okay. We're making our wet batter,
08:49 and actually this batter tastes so good.
08:52 You can even make some pancake.
08:54 I can smell it, yeah, oh! That would be good.
08:57 Okay, I am going to need go ahead
08:59 and move this one. There we go, you
09:03 got your pan heating up there. Pan is pretty hot.
09:05 Okay, good. Okay, this is really good.
09:08 I love to cook wheat. Yeah, that's right.
09:11 You're a good helper. You know, I was a helper.
09:12 Okay. I put some of our tablespoon of olive oil.
09:17 You need the olive oil to be very high in omega-3.
09:20 Oh, good. So actually it's good for your brain,
09:22 and good for your heart, and okay,
09:25 let me go ahead and take this one out,
09:27 okay. Then I will show you how to make zucchini
09:29 patties. I can take this. Yeah.
09:31 Now I know it's very unusual zucchini patties
09:34 because I thought you were gonna shred
09:35 the zucchini or something to put it in,
09:36 but this is different. Yeah you can do that way too,
09:39 yeah. I have other I called another name for that
09:42 Okay, yeah, cute. Then you're gonna brown
09:46 it both sides, okay, yeah, dip it in here.
09:49 Very nice. I used to make this one with egg, yes.
09:53 So now you can see it without egg,
09:56 you can still make it nice, that's right,
09:58 and healthy zucchini patties.
09:59 It's a different way to do without the eggs.
10:01 That's right, and actually it's very delicious.
10:04 I like that very much. It looks very good.
10:06 Thank you. Umh! Very nice, and then you
10:10 just wait till it browns and then you flip it
10:11 on to the other side. That's right, that's right.
10:14 It looks like one is already ready.
10:16 Oh, fun, let's see. How is it cooking, let me see it.
10:19 Okay, maybe I can put little longer,
10:21 a longer, okay. Yeah, and we have a final
10:23 product we want to show our friends.
10:25 Oh, yeah, they're very cute. Oh sorry,
10:31 I cannot find the big fat zucchinis,
10:33 so this is all I can find one. Okay, but these
10:36 were the bigger ones obviously.
10:37 Yeah, I like to work with the bigger one.
10:39 Don't they look cute? I like that very much.
10:42 Yeah, okay, what patty are we making next?
10:44 Next one we are making a Green Onion Patties.
10:48 That sounds good. Let's read out recipe
10:49 for the Green Onion Patties. For the Green
10:53 Onion Patties, you need: 2 ½ cup green onions,
10:56 cut 1" long ½ cup unbleached white flour
11:01 1 tbsp. wheat germ ½ tsp. sea salt
11:05 1 tsp. onion powder ½ tsp. garlic powder
11:11 1 ½ tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes, and
11:15 ½ cup water. I like this Kyong.
11:20 This is such a good way to get your vegetables.
11:21 Yes. You know you're mixing them
11:23 with the batter or something,
11:24 it's a good way to do that. Right,
11:25 and the people like kind of taste of the fat,
11:28 so when you put little bit of fat in there
11:31 and you just put the batter and
11:32 then they would like it. Yeah, that's very good.
11:34 So we have so many secret, how we can
11:37 feed the people how to eat vegetables.
11:39 Right, praise God for that. Yeah, Amen.
11:40 Yeah, that's right. Now are these in
11:42 your main dishes cook book? Yes.
11:44 These recipes okay, good, good.
11:46 Also green onion patties is in my main dishes
11:49 cook book. That's right, good. Okay, first
11:51 what you need to do, you need a
11:53 2 ½ cup green onion 1 inch cut,
11:56 so I already cut about two cups. She cut quite a bit.
11:59 Let me see, see we make our 2 ½ cup,
12:04 this is by 1" long. Okay, yeah.
12:06 Don't cut it too long, okay, but shorter is fine,
12:10 but I don't want to cut it too long. Yes.
12:13 Also we can grow your own green onions.
12:16 Oh, absolutely, and it taste so good. Yeah,
12:19 I think this is about 2 ½ cup. Another things
12:24 what you need to do make sure they put it in
12:26 the cup press down to make your, push down
12:29 to make 2 ½ cup because they're kind of pop it up.
12:32 So this make our 2 ½ cup.
12:35 So you want to push it down.
12:36 Yeah, push it down to make 2 ½. Okay.
12:38 So that's the secret. Okay. Alright, okay.
12:43 Now you're gonna help me to mix. Okay.
12:45 We're gonna add some. Start with the
12:47 unbleached white flour. Yeah, unbleached white
12:49 flour. Okay. And I am going to go and turn this on.
12:52 And then the wheat germ. Wheat germ, yeah, add the
12:55 wheat germ then I have a sea salt, okay,
12:59 and onion powder, yeah, garlic powder,
13:03 and nutritional yeast flakes. Now, we can
13:06 find the nutritional yeast flakes in health food
13:08 store. From the health food store, yes,
13:10 and the water, it's by ½ cup water,
13:13 and this is like a really thick batter. Okay.
13:17 So you might think or may not enough full water
13:20 or not enough of flour but that's how I like.
13:23 Just how we are supposed to do.
13:25 Yes, possibly, and when I grew up in Korea,
13:29 we used to eat lots of green onion patties.
13:33 Yes. And we got a lot of good health benefit
13:35 from eating green onions because very high in
13:38 antioxidant which is a cancer fighter. Oh, okay.
13:42 And that kills germs and bacteria in your body,
13:45 also good thing and it will lower your cholesterol,
13:50 so you know when you want to have a healthy living,
13:54 your body needs to be cholesterol free.
13:57 So you can have a good circulation in your body.
14:00 Right, oh, yeah of course. So it will lower your
14:01 cholesterol. That's good enough. Okay.
14:04 Yeah, good, good job. Alright, I've passed
14:07 the test. Then what you need to do,
14:10 put some olive oil. Okay. This one you need
14:15 little more I would put about 2 tbsp. olive oil,
14:18 but it is up to you, you don't have to put so
14:21 much oil in there, and I will need another spoon,
14:25 and you can make a smaller patty. Okay.
14:27 Just like that. And don't worry about
14:31 how the shape would look like.
14:33 That's what I was thinking about.
14:34 Yeah, you don't have to make around it.
14:36 Okay. And I like the way it just come out
14:39 because it has own character.
14:41 'Cause they're all different.
14:42 Yeah, all different. Yeah, that's right.
14:44 And if you love green onions you will love
14:49 this patty because I love this patty,
14:51 this I'm sharing with you. Yeah, I like green onions.
14:54 Okay, maybe we can cook some little more.
14:58 Yeah, there we go. Since you guys are grown here.
15:00 That's right, very cute. This is fun I am thinking
15:04 you can get your kids working with you too.
15:06 They would have a good time with us.
15:07 Yeah. Mixing and stirring. Mixing and stirring
15:09 is good for the children. My grandson love to
15:13 mixing and stirring when I cook.
15:15 Yes, that's right. Malachi loves cooking.
15:18 He loves it. And Malachi tell grandma when you do
15:21 cooking show with 3ABN please tell them that
15:24 I love to cook. Oh! So, I am sharing with whole
15:27 world that he is only 4-years-old.
15:30 And ever since he was 2- years-old he cook with me.
15:33 Yes. And then he think grandma is
15:36 a good cooker. Yeah, I know, I like that cook...
15:39 So when I go to town, he pray for me,
15:43 heavenly Father, please don't let anything happen
15:45 to my grandma, she is a good cooker.
15:47 If anything happened to her I have nothing to eat.
15:51 That's right. He wants you there cooking for him
15:53 and taking care of him. Oh, so that's really cute.
15:55 Yeah, that's real sweet. See that how it looks.
15:58 Oh yeah very cute. It looks so nice,
16:00 nice and brown, smells good too.
16:05 It does, that's right. I can smell the onion
16:06 flavor in it. Yeah. Yeah. Okay,
16:09 let me go ahead and turn it over one more.
16:11 There you go. Wow, it smells really good.
16:15 Oh! Yeah. It smells good. Let me pull out our
16:18 finish product here. Oh! Yes, and they are all
16:22 different shapes and sizes. Yeah, all different shapes
16:24 and size. And that's okay. Yeah. Yeah, its okay.
16:27 That's nice you don't have to feel push to
16:31 make everything perfect. No. I like that.
16:33 This is one you can do, even though you
16:34 don't know how to cook, you can cook this one.
16:37 That's good. I like that very much, yeah.
16:41 Now you go out to cooking schools and help people,
16:43 right. Yes. Sharing these recipes and
16:46 sharing with them. This is what God call me to do.
16:49 So I love to go out and share people what God
16:52 inspired me, good recipe and it's good for you
16:57 and they taste good, and nutritious and then
17:01 people even though they're eating meat,
17:04 they can jump into a vegan vegetarian easily.
17:06 Right, that's good. Alright. As well as
17:10 going out and cooking, I was just thinking
17:11 before we go to our next patty recipe,
17:13 people also you go to their home as well right.
17:17 People need that right. Yes. Yeah, okay.
17:20 Several times I don't even count how many times
17:24 but one lady she really wanted to learn
17:26 how to make vegetarian meat, vegan gluten, yes.
17:30 So I went over there and teach her how to make
17:32 vegan gluten. And she loves tamale, so there is no
17:35 tamale. So we made tamale and she love pies,
17:39 so let's make pie, so all day she and I we had
17:41 so much fun cooking together. Now she has
17:45 become vegetarian, and she makes the gluten
17:48 all the time. Yeah, that's exciting.
17:50 Exciting, yeah. That's right,
17:51 that's right and that's the whole purpose,
17:53 you know, just reaching out and helping other people.
17:55 That's right. That's right, okay.
17:57 What patty are we making next?
17:58 We are making garbanzo bean patty.
18:01 Oh, good, let's read our recipe for that.
18:02 For the Garbanzo Patties, you need:
18:05 ½ cup soaked garbanzo beans
18:08 3/4 cup water 1 cup quick oats
18:11 1/4 cup chopped walnuts ½ cup onion, minced
18:16 ½ tsp. sage ½ tsp. garlic powder
18:21 1 tbsp. unfermented soy sauce, and
18:25 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes.
18:30 Alright, this is nice because it's another
18:32 type of patty, yes. I am excited about this program,
18:35 all different types of patties.
18:36 Right, this one if you love hamburger,
18:40 and you might use it as a substitute.
18:43 Oh! Good. So this is a good hamburger substitute
18:47 I can't say that word. Well, this time
18:49 I correct you. That's right.
18:51 Okay, let's go and start. Okay.
18:53 But we need to do first we put some water.
18:55 Okay. And the garbanzo beans,
18:58 then we gonna to blend it until nice and smooth.
19:02 Okay. Yes, okay. Then we just keep the lid on.
19:07 Okay, we'll make some noise.
19:25 Is that good? Yeah. Okay. That's really good.
19:27 Not too much work then. No, blender will do all the
19:31 work. Yeah, that's right. Especially you have
19:33 powerful blender like this. Yes.
19:34 It's going quick. You want it in here.
19:35 Please. Okay. I need all here. Yes.
19:41 Okay. Now I am going to go ahead and
19:44 add quick oat, okay. You have to use the quick oat.
19:49 Okay, you can't use the old fashion roll on variety.
19:52 No. Good. And next I am going to add some
19:54 chopped walnut, and onion powder.
19:58 I mean this is onion, chopped onion.
20:01 Onion, yeah. Yeah, it looks like powder to me.
20:03 And then next I am going to add some sage
20:07 and garlic powder and I am using unfermented
20:12 soy sauce. Yes, now you can get that in the
20:14 grocery store, can't you, you just look for
20:16 unfermented sauce. Some of grocery store
20:18 I saw the other day and it was in the grocery store.
20:22 Okay, but some times you might have to go
20:24 to the health food store for that. Probably,
20:26 probably, and the garbanzo bean is a complete
20:31 protein and with all the amino acids you see you
20:35 think a good news and it's a very low in fat.
20:38 Oh, another good news. Oh, that's good enough.
20:40 And it's very high in fiber. Yeah.
