00:07 some different ways that you can make tofu
00:09 for some amazing dishes, that you wouldn't
00:11 even guess had tofu in them, stay with us.
00:45 Hello friends and welcome to another edition of
00:49 Let's Cook Together. I am your host Jill Morikone

00:53 plan for you today all with tofu recipes.
00:57 You will be amazed to find what dishes
00:59 can contain tofu and how good they taste,
01:01 but first I want to introduce you to my
01:03 special guest and special friend here with me
01:05 in the kitchen. Her name is Kyong Weathersby.
01:08 Welcome Kyong we are so glad to have you.
01:10 Hi, yeah thank you. I am so happy to be here,
01:13 that's right. Yeah, Kyong and I always have
01:15 such a good time cooking together in the kitchen,
01:17 yes we do, right. Tell our friends at home
01:19 if they are not familiar with your ministry about
01:21 Taste of Heaven Ministry. Our Taste of
01:24 Heaven Ministry and you know
01:26 there is lot of people suffering
01:27 from their wrong diet, yes.
01:29 So God put such a burden on my heart to go out
01:32 and teach people how to cook healthy.
01:34 So, I've been doing it for last 8 years,
01:36 that's great, and it's such a blessing to me
01:39 and, praise God, as much as blessing
01:41 to other people, praise God.
01:42 Now, besides going out and doing the
01:44 cooking schools and having some people
01:45 come into your home and help you as well.
01:47 Kyong also had an interesting thing
01:49 that I want you to share with our friends at home.
01:51 The local TV station there in Mena, Arkansas
01:55 just a secular local TV station,
01:57 they approach Kyong and asked her to do
01:58 cooking programs for them, tell us about that.
02:02 Our MCC TV there is the, our local TV station
02:07 in Mena, right, and producer
02:09 wants to produce a healthy cooking show.
02:12 So, they learned about me, so they called me,
02:15 yes, if you would like to, if I am interested
02:18 in it, yes, for this cooking show with them,
02:21 and I said well I am vegan vegetarian,
02:23 they said, oh no problem. Now, the producer
02:27 of this cooking of the, cooking show,
02:29 right there at the TV station,
02:30 he is an atheist? Yes, he doesn't believe in God.
02:33 He doesn't even believe in God, that's amazing,
02:35 it's amazing, okay. And here he is interested in
02:37 doing a vegan vegetarian cooking program, right,
02:39 yes, okay. So we get to tape five cooking shows,
02:43 and he even named the cooking show
02:46 a Taste of Heaven after my ministry,
02:48 oh, praise God, yes, and I got a lot of responses
02:52 from our community about, yes,
02:54 Vegan Vegetarian Cooking Show, praise God,
02:56 in their local TV station. That's right,
02:58 that's right, and also before we start cooking
02:59 our tofu recipes you have some cook books,
03:02 you have five cook books actually.
03:03 Yes I do, I named a cook book after our ministry
03:08 a Taste of Heaven, so I have a cook book
03:10 one through five and, yeah, fourth cook book
03:13 has all our main dishes, yes,
03:15 and the fifth cook book just came out because,
03:18 because she loves sweet, healthy sweet,
03:22 that's right. So she inspired me to write
03:24 a healthy dishes, yeah, so it just came out.
03:28 And I just got that healthy dessert cook book
03:30 just yesterday actually I got my first copy.
03:32 So, and there so, you can call me or you can even,

03:46 tofu recipe, right, right. Let's go ahead
03:49 and do that. Okay good, let's read
03:50 our first recipe. For the Egg-Like Salad you need,
03:54 1 pkg. of firm tofu 1/4 tsp. turmeric
03:58 1/4 tsp. sea salt 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
04:05 1 tbsp. chicken-like seasoning
04:08 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 3/4 c. tofu "Miracle Whip"
04:16 For the tofu "miracle whip" You need
04:18 1 pkg. silken tofu 1/4 c. soy milk powder
04:23 2 tbsp. lemon juice ½ tsp. onion powder
04:29 1 tsp. sea salt 2 tbsp. canola oil
04:37 1/4 tsp. garlic powder and 2 tbsp. turbinado sugar.
04:43 Okay this is a two stage recipe, right,
04:46 it looks like. You have to have the
04:47 "Tofu Miracle Whip" to make this salad, okay.
04:50 So, you are going to help me to make this one
04:53 right, okay. Okay, so go and put some tofu,
04:56 and this one is like a box package, yes,
05:01 and I am using a firm but if you cannot get
05:03 the box package, okay, you can use water package
05:06 but it has to be soft, that's right,
05:08 for this recipe. If you are in another country
05:09 and you can't get the Mori-Nu variety,
05:12 in your country or where you live,
05:13 your supermarket whatever, you can get
05:15 the soft water packed tofu type okay, that's right.
05:17 Just go ahead and put some soy milk powder,
05:20 okay, and we need a little bit.
05:24 Can you get that out, turbinado sugar,
05:27 turbinado sugar, now this is the
05:29 healthier kind of sugar? This is a healthy kind
05:31 with the calcium and potassium, iron,
05:34 and magnesium in it, okay, and now we're gonna
05:36 to put some little bit of canola oil, okay,
05:39 which is high in omega-3, good for your brain,
05:41 okay oh yes, and the lemon juice,
05:44 which is strong cleanser for your blood, yes,
05:47 and can you get that out, you get stuck in there,
05:51 you put the onion powder, yeah, and garlic powder,
05:56 and the sea salt and then we all need to do
05:58 just blend it until smooth, I can handle that
06:01 you just throw it in and blend it I like that.
06:03 While you are doing it I'm gonna go ahead
06:05 and work on here, okay, okay, let me
06:09 I'm gonna make some noise here.
06:10 It's no easy recipe.
06:24 See how simple it is. Easy I like that, yeah,
06:27 that's my kind of recipe. Okay I am gonna
06:30 need that for this recipe, okay.
06:31 This is like a firm water packed tofu, okay.
06:35 The water pack kind you can just buy in the store
06:37 or something. And I love too just work
06:39 with my hand, yes that's right.
06:41 Make sure you can fill it but if you don't want
06:44 to put your hand in it you can use your fork.
06:45 Yeah there you go, or put that mixture
06:48 to just make to this one. Look at the texture,
06:50 oh yeah, just look like cheesy to me, yeah.
06:53 Now I am gonna make Egg-Like Salad
06:55 with this one. Yeah, that's good that
06:57 with this one. Yeah, that's good
06:58 that sounds really good. This is done,
06:59 and I am gonna go and add some turmeric, okay,
07:02 and I just talked here about the turmeric
07:05 is such a good for your stomach, yeah, okay.
07:08 It will increase produce of gastric juices,
07:12 so when you have, people have a stomach problems.
07:14 It increases the production of the
07:15 gastric juices that's what you mean.
07:17 Yeah that's what I said. Okay the production of
07:18 the gastric juice increases, okay.
07:20 Very good, thank you, you are now speaking
07:22 with Korean accent. But we can still
07:24 understand that. And sea salt, okay,
07:26 and nutritional yeast flakes,
07:31 and I need a chicken like seasoning, okay,
07:35 and the garlic powder, good. Then I need
07:38 some of tofu, okay, you need to put it.
07:42 How much do you want here?
07:43 I would just put 3/4 cups so, okay.
07:46 It smell like, okay. We will try that
07:49 and see if that's 3/4, yes, alright.
07:51 You just mix altogether, yes, the reason
07:54 I am using a turmeric it just gives color,
07:57 so it look like that you had a egg-yolk in it
08:00 without any added egg, okay, yes.
08:02 And if you love tofu salad you might
08:07 like this, it will be good substitution.
08:09 Instead of egg-salad sandwich,
08:10 right and you can use a tofu salad.
08:12 Yeah you know egg has a very high in cholesterol.
08:15 I mean it is very nutritious food
08:17 but very high in cholesterol, right,
08:19 causing a lot of heart problems.
08:21 So, this one has no cholesterol whatsoever.
08:24 Right so you don't have the animal products
08:25 into that, yeah, that's right.
08:27 This is all it is, very good,
08:29 I am gonna show you how to, very nice,
08:32 do your finish product here.
08:35 If you like you have, very cute, open sandwich,
08:38 that's right I like that. I like the open sandwich,
08:40 yeah I do too. So you don't have to have
08:44 extra calorie on bread. Yeah that's right,
08:46 you don't need two slices of bread just one,
08:48 that's pretty nice. Okay so I am gonna put it
08:49 right here like this, okay, and you can just
08:53 decorate, anything you like, okay.
08:55 Can I make one here, sure yeah, okay,
08:58 that will be good. Then I'll go and put
09:00 some tomatoes, good. Oh look at that
09:03 how pretty it is. Doesn't they look nice,

10:18 Now we are making something else
10:20 with tofu in it. Yeah we're gonna make
10:21 some tofu patty dish. Good, let's read
10:24 that recipe for the tofu patties.
10:27 For those you need, 1 pkg. of firm tofu
10:29 1 c. whole wheat bread crumbs
10:32 ½ c. chopped walnuts 1 minced onion
10:37 1/4 tsp. garlic powder and 1 tsp. sage,
10:42 you also need 1 tsp. sea salt
10:44 and 2 tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
10:50 This is a nice different recipe we use in the tofu
10:53 I like that Kyong. Yeah, this is a really
10:55 delicious and I'm gonna make a mini size
10:58 tofu patty. Oh cute I like that idea.
11:00 And when I did this recipe in the
11:03 cooking school and the people who eat
11:05 I mean who eat fish, yes. They said
11:08 it taste like a salmon, really like salmon.
11:11 I don't know I never, I really don't know
11:13 what that taste it is. Right but that's what
11:14 they are saying, yeah, but it tastes really good
11:17 I like it, yeah, so this is like a firm tofu,
11:20 the water packed variety, water packed,
11:21 so go ahead, use your hands again.
11:25 Yeah mash really good, yeah, that's good.
11:29 This one I'm gonna use my hand all the way through,
11:31 so I am gonna keep my gloves, yeah.
11:35 And my grandson love to had it
11:37 when I do this recipe, oh yeah,
11:39 Mullick loves to get in the kitchen doesn't he.
11:41 He love in the kitchen, he says grandma
11:43 what can I do for you, what can I do for you,
11:45 oh because he likes to taste right,
11:47 oh yeah in this basin, that's right,
11:49 and this is a whole wheat bread crumbs.
11:52 Okay so you just took regular bread
11:54 and then you crumbled it up. What you do,
11:56 if you like to make a fresh whole
11:59 wheat bread crumbs what you can do go ahead
12:03 and put the bread inside the blender,
12:05 go and blend it, okay, and then put into oven
12:07 at 350 degree for 30 minutes,
12:10 then you can make nice bread crumbs. Okay,
12:12 that it kind of dries it out a little bit, yes,
12:14 and makes a little more good, very nice. Okay,
12:16 next one I think I put garlic powder,
12:19 good, sage. And the nice thing is you know
12:22 what's in it, yeah, I like that too instead of
12:25 bread crumbs from the store you know I mean
12:26 that's good too it was a fast way but this is nice
12:28 and you can do it ahead of time.
12:30 Yeah, yeah okay, then you can keep
12:31 in the refrigerator or okay then I'm gonna
12:34 to mix really good, good. Did you notice that
12:37 I put the sage, yes, and the sage is really
12:40 recommended for depression, okay,
12:43 and actually it lower your blood pressures
12:44 and good for like dizziness
12:47 and nervous system. So, I didn't know
12:50 I just learned, yes, yes, about it.
12:52 And then you put, you see that is like a tofu,
12:55 I will tell you about the health benefit
12:57 about tofu. Actually it will help you
13:02 reduce the cholesterol and heart disease.
13:05 It will help you reduce the cancer,
13:07 it may but you need to kind a change your diet
13:10 and exercise for a day, right, right, okay,
13:12 and this is a whole package everything
13:13 goes together, yes. You know you can't just
13:14 change your diet and then sit on the couch there.
13:16 So it's good to exercise and get that air
13:19 and stuff that's right. This one I am gonna cook,
13:21 okay. so I am gonna go and turn the heat up,
13:24 okay, turn by 350, okay now if you don't have
13:28 this or you can just put nonstick frying pan
13:31 works really good too, okay good.
13:32 So about you need one tablespoon.
13:34 Now you are using olive oil. Yes olive oil
13:38 because it can reduce the heat better.
13:40 Good okay, than any other oil, okay.
13:43 Then you can just make a ball like that,
13:45 cute, alright, and you just make a pattie,
13:47 alright. It really holds really good to make it,
13:50 right the tofu holds it together the moisture
13:52 into that I guess. Yeah, and also the bread crumbs
13:55 you know works real good, yeah right, and onions
13:59 and it's so good for you, yes,
14:01 and if you have a high blood pressures
14:03 it will reduce the heart, did I said
14:07 the heart high blood pressure,
14:09 the high blood pressure, yeah it will reduce
14:10 the high blood pressure, onions is good for us,
14:12 onions, right, and oh, here we go that
14:15 one sizzling, sizzling, yes very nice.
14:19 Also another benefit from onions
14:21 and if you had a high blood sugar for people
14:25 who have diabetes, okay, it will,
14:26 it may lower your blood sugar too, very nice,
14:31 oh they are cute. So I am gonna to making it,
14:32 yeah, now you flip them
14:34 after some more time, oh yeah I do just way,
14:37 yeah then you need to turn it over, okay,
14:39 so you can cook full size and brown, okay,
14:42 it will be really good, very nice.
14:44 Now do these freeze as well, can we stick them
14:46 in the freezer, yes it is, okay,
14:47 you can freeze them so when you have a time
14:50 just make it whole bread, yes, make sure to put
14:53 in the freezer, I like that, they were head tips
14:55 because we are so busy in this,
14:56 trying to do something that helps, that's right.
14:58 Yeah, I am gonna go ahead and fill it up.
15:00 Okay very nice. And I am gonna talk about
15:02 the walnut, okay. You know walnut is very high
15:07 in good fat which is benefit to your heart
15:11 and lower cholesterol also, so as you look
15:15 at it this one has no cholesterol,
15:17 but actually helps you lower your cholesterol,
15:20 right, right. And so you know eating like this
15:23 and the God will bless you, that's right,
15:26 and exercise and drink some pure water,
15:30 yes that's right, that's really God will bless you
15:32 with the good health. Yes, then you,
15:35 what I was gonna ask I was thinking
15:37 about the when you did the program
15:39 for the RMC TV there on Mena, Arkansas, yes.
15:41 What type of recipes did you do for them,
15:44 did you do this recipe for them or?
15:45 I didn't do this one, okay, but I did all kinds
15:49 it's like even do like how to make
15:51 vegetarian meat, oh fine, and vegetarian chicken,
15:54 okay, and like stir and fry lot of people love
15:58 oriental dishes, yes, I do the stuff fry,
16:01 that's right, and I do some fried rice,
16:03 some forever young bar, oh yeah,
16:06 all that's good things I did there, very nice, yes,
16:09 and lot of people try it and they really like it.
16:12 Yeah, that's right oh very good.
16:15 You see the first one is ready, okay.
16:17 I am gonna to go and tilt it.
16:19 Yeah, get the oil in it all. Can you see that,
16:25 oh yeah that's right, how brown it is,
16:26 oh it looks good, it looks very good,
16:32 yeah it smells good too, it does oh.
16:34 I would say to them the way you could smell
16:37 through the television instead of just seeing
16:39 we will be able to smell that's pretty nice.
16:41 So it's, yeah I am not you cook for actually
16:45 you know, if you wanted to be vegetarian
16:48 and lot of people worry about where do I get
16:51 protein and soy bean and tofu has a perfect
16:56 protein in it. So you don't have to worry
16:58 about am I lacking of the protein, right, right.
17:01 So it is interesting and fun that you can get it
17:05 as a white block and then you can make
17:08 some delicious, I love this that's right,
17:10 dishes you can make, because the white block
17:12 has no flavor really, no taste,
17:14 yes tofu is nothing. It doesn't,
17:16 it's all in the seasonings in the tofu
17:17 you put it in, yeah, so that's what makes
17:18 the difference, yeah. If you want to make a
17:21 large pattie you can still make large pattie,
17:24 oh that's a big pattie, big patty then you make
17:26 sure that hamburger yeah, oh that's a good idea
17:29 yeah, alright it smell really good hmm
17:33 very, very nice. I will let you taste later.
17:35 Yeah I am ready, very nice, okay.
17:39 Now we are making something else with tofu.
17:40 Oh we're gonna make some Taste of Heaven pudding.
17:43 Oh that's sounds good. Let's read our recipe
17:45 for that pudding. For the Taste of Heaven pudding
17:48 you need: ½ c. soy milk 1pkg. silken tofu
17:53 1/4 c. carob powder 1 tbsp. coffee substitute
17:59 ½ c. turbinado sugar 1/4 tsp. sea salt
18:05 and 1 tsp. vanilla. You know Kyong
18:10 I like desserts. So I am really excited about
18:12 this recipe. I have to tell you that
18:14 how I come out with this recipe, yes.
18:16 My daughter, she was heavy eating chocolate
18:21 all the time, okay, and then she want to eat
18:23 healthy so, yes, she was begging me mom come out
18:26 with good chocolate pudding substitute, yes.
18:29 So I said I will just pray a lot,
18:31 the Lord help me to inspire the recipe, yes,
18:34 and so God inspired me, so when I made
18:36 this recipe and I was kind of exciting
18:39 and nervous, and I asked my daughter Kristina
18:42 you want to taste it? When she taste it
18:44 her eyes got really big, oh, mom this is
18:47 better than chocolate pudding, yeah,
18:49 and then she really, really liked it,
18:51 so I knew this is a good recipe, that's right.
18:54 When your recipe inspire from God
18:56 that has to be good, that's right, okay.
18:58 Here we start, yeah that's right oh very good
19:00 I got the blender out here again.
19:02 Okay, so we are going to go and put some soy milk
19:05 first, okay, okay half cup soy milk
19:09 and we are using a one package silken tofu, yes,
19:13 but like we mention about if you don't have tofu,
19:17 silken tofu you can use the box tofu,
19:20 but it has to be soft to have this consistent.
19:24 If you use the water packed variety,
19:25 yeah water packed variety has to be
19:27 soft tofu, has to be soft, okay, okay.
19:29 Next one I am using carob powder, good.
19:31 This one actually kind of, do you got it,
19:35 I got it yeah, okay it gives like a
19:38 chocolate flavor, yes, and then you wanted a
19:40 stronger chocolate flavor and I am adding
19:42 some coffee substitute. Okay, now can our friends
19:45 at home get this carob powder in a health food
19:48 at home get this carob powder
19:49 in a health food store or maybe in your
19:50 local grocery store? Yes, you can get it
19:51 health food store, health food store okay,
19:52 yes, okay. That is coffee substitute, okay
19:55 and lot of people wanted to know
19:57 what is coffee substitute, right.
19:59 This is like just roasted barley and chicory, okay.
20:03 So, this is just from the plant based,
20:05 okay without any caffeine, okay,
20:07 this is good news. Yeah that's right,
20:09 no caffeine in there, yeah okay.
20:11 I will tell you that I used to be coffeeholic,
20:14 did you really, if you are coffeeholic.
20:15 I didn't know that yeah I guess,
20:17 I became vegetarian about nine years ago,
20:19 but until then my husband was there,
20:23 I cannot open my eyes unless I had coffee,
20:26 but I am so glad that there is plant based
20:29 coffee substitute, that's right,
20:31 and where they were from the Lord, yes,
20:34 that I can get it off from. So you had,
20:36 did you have a hard time coming off
20:37 with the coffee or you know if you drink
20:39 so much of it is that hard. Oh yes
20:40 what happened drink so much that I have ulcer,
20:44 I couldn't digest the food but I have to have a
20:46 coffee that is terrible, that's what kicked you,
20:49 got to kick started I guess every morning
20:51 to keep going. I think it's a habit, yeah,
20:53 that's a bad habit for me. Now, do you know
20:57 what make me goes, when I wake up prayer
20:59 and drink water, yeah there you go,
21:01 that makes me go, that's right,
21:02 praise God for that. Okay. I am gonna use
21:05 healthy turbinado sugar, okay we got a
21:07 little spoon, sure. Thanks, like I mentioned
21:10 there you have some molasses and iron,
21:13 potassium, calcium and magnesium,
21:15 so you will have a nutrition based.
21:17 Its a healthy type, good, yeah healthy type
21:19 and I put some sea salt, yeah,
21:20 it also has some calcium so we don't have to drink
21:24 cow's milk to get calcium, right,
21:26 that's vanilla, okay, and what we need to do just
21:29 put it in there and blend it until nice
21:32 and smooth, okay, that is a key word nice
21:35 and smooth, there we go.
21:45 I stir it bit to get those edges, okay,
21:48 yeah you need to kind of stir once or twice.
21:50 If you don't have this vita-mix blender, yeah
21:53 that's pretty nice, I don't have at home
21:54 you don't have one either right, oh no,
21:56 Kyong knows that. Oh if you like to donate us
21:58 one, there you go. No I am just kidding, no.
22:02 So I don't have, I just have simple home blender,
22:06 so when I make this all and I just bake it
22:09 couple of times, yes, then it works
22:11 perfect too, so if you can bake
22:14 if you don't have one. That's right,
22:15 it can just may take a little bit longer
22:18 but it will still work, yes it is,
22:19 it takes me longer at home but it still works, yes.
22:34 I'll get the lid off, just go ahead
22:35 and pour here, now pour in glass.
22:39 Oh yeah it's kind of frothy too,
22:42 oh, yeah you smell it, its smell is so good.
22:45 As you see right now it's kind of really soft,
22:48 yes, so you need to chill it in the
22:50 refrigerator for about a couple of hours
22:51 and you will get really thicken, okay.
22:53 Then we have a finish product,
22:55 I will show you the differences, okay, okay
23:00 see there how warm and thick it is, oh yeah,
23:03 and a color difference, yeah the color get
23:04 thicker too and my grandson,
23:07 he is like please grandma put some umbrella.
23:12 So cute, so for Mullica I put umbrella,
23:15 that's right, pink and blue for Mullica.
23:16 And we're gonna taste it, that's right,
23:18 yeah one for you let's go and taste
23:20 for our friendship, that's right, yeah,
23:28 Taste of Heaven isn't it, this is very, very,
23:32 very good, this really, really good.
23:34 It's just the flavor is good like I taste
23:36 little bit of coffee substitute in it
23:38 that's good too I like the carob.
23:41 We hope this makes you guys want to try
23:46 this too, it's good, yeah can you, I like it,
23:48 yeah thank you, you know can you imagine that
23:51 you can make some thing out of tofu,
23:54 yeah, so sweet and good for you, that's right,
23:56 and you don't have to worry about
23:57 all the caffeine, you know caffeine
24:00 really irritate you a lot your nervous systems
24:03 and also puddings they had lot of use
24:06 or lot of just regular sugar
24:08 and just like this so. No cow's milk,
24:13 yeah absolutely, we use just soy milk,
24:14 it's very, very good and its light that's what
24:18 I like about it. I mean the flavor is good
24:20 but the texture is light, yeah, you know

25:16 1/4 tsp. sea salt 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
25:21 1 tbsp. chicken-like seasoning
25:24 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 3/4 c. tofu "Miracle Whip"
25:30 For the tofu "Miracle Whip" You will need
25:34 1 pkg. silken tofu 1/4 c. soy milk powder
25:38 2 tbsp. lemon juice ½ tsp. onion powder
25:44 1 tsp. sea salt 2 tbsp. canola oil
25:49 1/4 tsp. garlic powder and 2 tbsp. turbinado sugar.
25:56 For the tofu patties you will need,
25:58 1 pkg. firm tofu 1 c. whole wheat bread crumbs
26:03 ½ c. chopped walnuts 1 onion, minced
26:08 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. sage
26:12 1 tsp. sea salt and 2 tbsp.
26:16 nutritional yeast flakes.
26:18 For the Taste of Heaven pudding you will need,
26:22 ½ c. soy milk 1pkg. silken tofu
26:26 1/4 c. carob powder 1 tbsp. coffee substitute
26:32 ½ c. turbinado sugar 1/4 tsp. sea salt
