Stay with us and you'll find out. 00:47 Hello friends and welcome to another program of 00:49 Let's Cook Together. I'm your host Jill Morikone, 00:52 and we have an exciting program planned for you 00:55 today, all kinds of yummy foods that you can 00:57 eat that will give you energy and carry you 00:59 through the day. First, I wanna introduce you 01:02 to my special guest, my special friend. 01:04 Her name is Kyong Weathersby. Welcome Kyong. 01:07 Oh thank you for having me. We're so glad to have 01:09 you here. Me too, me too. Now Kyong is not a total 01:13 stranger to our 3ABN family. She's been here 01:15 several different times before. For our friends who 01:17 maybe new, why don't you introduce yourself and tell 01:20 us you're from Mena, Arkansas. Yeah. Tell us 01:22 a little bit about your ministry. Okay I have a 01:24 ministry named call Taste of Heaven and about 01:28 8 years ago God called me to go out, teach people 01:32 how to cook healthy. So, he has been really 01:35 bless me with my ministry. Yes. Especially I was 01:39 so blessed to be on 3ABN and reach so many people, 01:42 teach them how to cook healthy. That's right, 01:45 that's right and you go out, besides that you go 01:47 out and do cooking schools and health seminars 01:49 and stuff to different people you travel, right. 01:51 Yes. Yeah, where do you? I usually go to the places 01:56 like nursing home if they want to eat healthy, 01:58 I can teach them. Oh good. And also schools, 02:02 high school and they like to learn. They ask me 02:06 to teach them how to cook healthy in front of those 02:08 high school students. So, I get to show them 02:11 how to cook healthy. Praise God, that's a pretty 02:13 rare opportunity. I know, yeah. You know a lot of 02:16 high school kids aren't even interested in cooking 02:17 at all, so that's pretty exciting. Well they are 02:19 not interested, now seems like they're interested 02:23 in cooking healthy, but once they heard about 02:26 God's good nutrient information, they have 02:30 desire to learn how to cook healthy. Absolutely. 02:33 Yeah. That's right, now your husband Larry works 02:35 with you in your ministry too. Oh yes that's another 02:39 blessing when God called me to teach people how to 02:43 cook healthy, now my husband was not interested 02:46 at all. Yes. But after my car accident then he has 02:50 taken me to place to places for the cooking school, 02:52 so now God put him in the ministry with me, 02:57 so its blessing. So your husband was not 02:59 interested before, and he had some health issues 03:00 too right, didn't he have high cholesterol or 03:02 blood pressure or something. Yeah. And how 03:04 did that change? You know since we changed our 03:07 diet in 6 months in vegan vegetarian way and God 03:11 lowered his cholesterol from 242 to 140 in 6 months. 03:16 From 242 to 140. Yes. Praise God. Praise God 03:20 and then he last weight from like 235 to I think 03:25 he lost 85 pounds in 6 months. So you got to 03:30 share it with the whole world, this is good news. 03:32 That's right. Oh! Praise God. Praise God. 03:35 And that's just in 6 months, that's just from 03:37 changing his lifestyle his diet. Right, that's right. 03:39 All these different, that's right, natural laws that 03:41 God has given us. Amen. That's right. What's our 03:44 special little secret that we're doing today that's 03:46 gonna give us energy for the day. First recipe, I'm 03:50 gonna share is called the Carob & Walnut Granola. 03:54 Good okay, let's read that recipe. 03:57 For the Carob & Walnut Granola you need 04:00 3 ½ c. of rolled oats or quick oats 04:03 1 ½ c. of wheat germ 1 1/4 c of carob powder 04:08 1 ½ c. of walnuts 1 ½ c unsweetened coconut flakes, 04:14 and 3/4 tsp. sea salt You also need 1 ½ c. canola oil 04:21 1 1/4 c. honey 2 tbsp. of warm water, 04:26 and 1 tsp. vanilla You know Kyong, this is 04:29 exciting because what we eat for breakfast really 04:32 gives us energy throughout the day doesn't it. Yes 04:34 I will explain to you what kind of benefit you 04:38 will have from cooking this recipe. Yeah, okay, 04:42 okay. Let's get going. First what I am going 04:43 to do I am going to put some rolled oats and then 04:47 we all know that you know the rolled oats is very 04:49 high in fiber and once you've taken fiber in your 04:55 body you know it will expand it about like 04:58 6 times that even though you eat just small amount 05:02 it will feel, you're filled up. Yeah that's right. 05:04 So you don't need as much to fill full. 05:06 No, so it will help you to loose weight also. 05:09 That's a good thing. Because you're not going 05:10 to eat a whole lot, that's right okay. I am gonna 05:12 use some wheat germ, very high in vitamin B. 05:15 Yes. And the carob powder and this is some more like 05:20 chocolate substitute, yes that which is high 05:24 in fiber, minerals like calcium, iron. Okay. 05:29 And then I put some walnuts. Good. You know 05:31 the walnut is very high in omega-3, so if you're 05:35 suffering from depressions it will lift 05:38 your depression problems. Yes, that's right, 05:41 it will help with that, that's right, yeah, good. 05:42 And next I am gonna put some coconuts flakes 05:46 and coconuts flakes is a very high in fiber also. 05:50 Okay. And it has all such a wonderful nutrition 05:55 in here. Yes, that's right. Okay next I'll put some 05:58 sea salt. The thing that really strikes me Kyong 06:01 is that when we're eating these thing instead of 06:04 taking vitamins or minerals of pills or stuff 06:06 like that what we are doing is we are eating our 06:09 nutrition. We are eating good things for our body, 06:11 that's a real good thing. Yeah, that's right. 06:13 That's right you know or here now you see that 06:16 have a vitamin B and you vitamin B so important 06:20 for you. Yes. Carbohydrate to turning to energy. 06:26 Yes. Also. And we need that energy in the morning. 06:29 That's right we're talking about energy food. 06:32 That's right. And also I like to talk about, 06:35 this is my husband's favorite food, you know 06:38 I can make double veggies and then he can have 06:42 for breakfast. That's right. Maybe he want 06:43 to eat something light for supper. That's right. 06:46 And he will eat this too. That's right. 06:48 And notice that he's in here in the set. 06:50 That's right. Hi honey. He's been helping. 06:52 Yeah, he's been washing dishes. Thank you. 06:56 That's right, the official dish washer. That's funny. 07:00 That's right, my husband loves Granola too. 07:04 I have to make him this carob kind, but he loves 07:07 walnut granola. Walnut granola. Okay, that will 07:11 keep him going. That's right, he eats almost 07:13 every morning. Okay, first you need to mix 07:18 all dry ingredients. Okay. Then what I will do 07:21 I am gonna add some canola oil. Alright. 07:24 In another cup. Okay. Okay, then I will. 07:26 In separate container you put the liquid 07:29 ingredients. That's right. Alright. Then this is 07:31 the honey if you can get, please get some pure 07:35 honey. Okay. This is raw honey actually. 07:38 Oh nice. It has some more enzymes in it, 07:41 so it will kill bacteria, virus. Can you find raw 07:46 honey in the regular grocery store or you would 07:48 need to go to a more specialty store for that. 07:49 You know I went to grocery stores. Okay. 07:52 Then I just find some raw honey. They have 07:54 in the grocery store. Yeah. Okay so you can 07:56 check out your local grocery store. That's right. 07:57 Alright. I just pour some water, a little bit 08:00 of water in the vanilla. Okay. Then I am gonna 08:02 go and store this one. Good. And at home 08:05 or maybe you can add some water. I like to have 08:09 one water then honey tend to mix it easily here. 08:13 Yes, it will kind of not fog 'cause it already 08:16 fogged but make it easy to mix. Yeah, so this is 08:18 mixing pretty good. Oh yeah, very nice. Okay, 08:22 after that I am going to put this one over there. 08:25 Okay. Alright. Then what I will do, I will go ahead 08:29 and pour this. Boy it looks good on granuels. 08:33 It smells good too. It smells really good. 08:36 I am gonna to eat all that up, I don't want to 08:38 waste any. That's right absolutely. Okay, 08:41 there we go. Then, well you can use your hand. 08:45 If you have kids, you can get them in the kitchen 08:47 to work, right. Yeah, but I am gonna wear some 08:49 sanitation glove. There we go. To mix it. 08:51 Okay, very nice. Then I will show you 08:58 how important is the mixing of granola. 09:00 This is the secret how you make the good granola. 09:03 Okay. And when you're mixing it just gently 09:07 touch it. Okay. So and plus make sure that 09:12 all the, look good, yes. And you're getting to it, 09:17 so you can have honey flavor some. Right. 09:21 Vanilla and strawberry. Otherwise you would 09:24 have like a cup of oats and then a cup of honey 09:27 and then so yeah you have to get it all kind of 09:29 moist. That's right. So I will continue mixing it. 09:33 Smells good. Smells really good. I can smell it, 09:36 I wish you guys could smell it, it's very, 09:38 very nice. Very nice. Oh yeah. Okay, see there 09:41 when you watch it, how I am mixing it. 09:43 It has a nice dark color that must be from the 09:45 carob too. Yes, also if you like to have like a 09:49 chocolate substitute, chocolate like a exterior 09:54 at the market. Yes. Then this will be a good 09:57 substitution for you. That's right, that's right. 09:59 And when I come out with this recipe by the 10:03 grace of God, my husband love this recipe. 10:07 That's good, that's good. He like to eat 10:09 all the time, alright. Let's put there. 10:14 Okay, let's put it here. What we need to do 10:15 this is 9/13 pan sheet, so I'm gonna pour this in. 10:20 You're gonna pour it on there and you can put 10:21 one recipe on one cooking sheet is that. Yeah. 10:24 Okay, okay. So you feel like to double up, 10:27 you will need two cooking sheets. Two cooking 10:28 sheets then I will just spread out. And how long 10:30 does it bake in the oven. At 225 degrees, 10:33 okay, for 2 hours. 2 hours, do you have to 10:36 turn it any or. Oh no you don't have to 10:38 turn, just leave it there for like 2 hours, okay. 10:41 And then I will show you how to fix upon that. 10:44 And then it gonna look like this, we have one 10:46 right under here. Oh it looks good. You can see 10:49 the differences. Yeah that's right, it's drier. 10:51 Drier yes. Definitely a little bit darker, yeah. 10:54 And you put some little walnuts on the top. 10:57 Walnut is already in here. Yeah okay, 10:59 it's the same as in here? Yeah, but it's something 11:01 we can put just a big chunk of walnut in there. 11:04 For a little garnishing of that or something, yeah. 11:06 Good, let's go to our Forever Young Bars. 11:08 Let read that recipe. For those Bars you need. 11:13 3/4 c. whole wheat flour 1 ½ c. of oat flour 11:17 1 ½ c. of unbleached white flour 11:21 1 ½ c. lecithin granules 1 ½ cup raisins 11:27 1 c. chopped walnuts divided in ½ 11:30 1 ½ tbsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. sea salt 11:37 6 tbsp. turbinado sugar 1 1/4 c. canola oil 11:43 1 c. water, and 1 ½ tbsp. vanilla 11:48 Alright Kyong, why do you call this Forever 11:50 Young Bars? Once you see the all the ingredients 11:54 I'm using you will feel like you're going to 11:56 live forever, but once you have Jesus Christ 12:01 in your heart, you will live forever also. 12:03 That's right. But when I created this recipe 12:07 that I say what I am gonna name it and 12:09 I said God gave me the name the Forever Young 12:12 Bars, so this is really good. That's right. 12:15 Delicious. And it's going to give us energy, 12:16 lots of energy, yeah. I'm gonna go and put 12:19 whole wheat flour, this is a wholesome, yes, 12:23 and oat flour, that's from oats you can just 12:27 blend it the blender to make oat flour 12:30 and oats are very high in vitamin B, fiber. 12:34 Yes, your oat flour. Yeah, it will help you to 12:37 lower cholesterol. It's good, that's a good thing. 12:40 And then next one, I am going to put lecithin 12:42 granule. Now lecithin granule is from the soy 12:45 bean products. It's from soy beans. Yes. Okay. 12:48 And it works like you must fire, okay, in your 12:52 blood stream, so if you any cholesterol problem 12:55 go ahead and use a soy products, also lecithin 12:59 granules, lecithin, it will break down your 13:01 cholesterol from your blood stream. 13:03 Help to do that. Yes. It's good. 13:04 Also it gives a butter flavor, so if you want to 13:07 have, and it tastes so good to use less ingredient. 13:10 Yeah that's right and that's butter flavor 13:11 without the oil and stuff like that. 13:14 And the raisins. Yeah. You know raisin is very 13:18 high in iron, also it cleans your blood. 13:21 And it gives you that, that sweetness too, 13:23 I like that. Chopped walnuts. Kyong knows that. 13:30 And they're high in omega-3 again our 13:32 walnuts right. High in omega-3 and high in 13:36 calcium and potassium, iron, vitamin B, 13:39 and glue fat, which is will lower your cholesterol, 13:43 it will helps you to prevent from heart disease. 13:46 Good. It's such a good thing to use. Oh yeah. 13:48 So this is hard. I think they are going to keep 13:50 me young. This is why they're called the forever 13:52 young bar. That's right. Okay, next one I am 13:55 gonna use the baking powder which it has no 13:58 baking soda. Okay. And no aluminum. Okay. 14:01 So you can find those at the grocery store. 14:04 Okay, okay. So if you are looking for this 14:06 type of baking powder what you should do 14:08 is then just look for no aluminum, 14:10 vegan ingredients, that's right. 14:12 No aluminum and no baking powder. That's right. 14:14 Okay. And the sea salt and you know the 14:17 sea salt contains some calcium. Okay. 14:19 And some magnesium, and so it's good for you. 14:23 That's right. And I am using a turbinado sugar. 14:25 This is a healthy sugar. Okay. Another name 14:29 for the raw sugar. Yes, alright. And it contains 14:32 our irons and calcium, and potassium, magnesium so. 14:37 Good. Good. Yeah. Okay whatever we do, 14:40 this is all the dry ingredients, so I will go 14:44 ahead and mix this one first. Yes. 14:47 The mixing is the very important part of cooking. 14:51 It is, how your grandson Malachi likes to get 14:54 in the kitchen too doesn't he? Oh yes, oh yes. 14:57 You know Malachi love to cook with me, 14:59 he's four years old I am gonna say hi Malachi. 15:02 That's right. I know you've been watching. 15:04 And he's almost 5, he will be 5 pretty soon. 15:07 Yeah. And he loves to cook with me. Yes. 15:10 He says grandma can I help you with anything 15:13 in the kitchen, he always do that. So, next one 15:16 I am going to put some canola oil, alright, 15:20 and this is very high in omega-3 also. Okay. 15:23 So we got walnuts and the oil here. 15:25 And one cup of water. Okay. And I put some 15:29 vanilla, and then make sure that when you do 15:33 buy the walnuts. Yes. Half covered walnut, 15:37 you need to save for the last. Okay, that's why 15:39 you said in the recipe divided in half. Yeah, 15:41 divide in half yes. Got you, okay. 15:43 Then I will go ahead mix this one. Yes, okay. 15:46 Mix them nearly good. It smells good absolutely. 15:49 It's not only smell good, it's really delicious. 15:52 I can't wait to try it, I did it several times. 15:56 I show this recipe in my cooking schools. 15:58 Okay. And people not even vegetarian, 16:02 they love this Forever Young Bars. Yes, 16:07 so they say they will make it all the time and 16:09 keep it into fridge. Isn't that special. 16:10 Yeah, amen, amen. That's right. 16:12 And I love to hear about people that make recipe, 16:16 your recipes all the time. That's right. 16:18 Then they put into the freezer that whenever 16:21 they just needed they just pick it up two or three 16:24 bars for breakfast. Oh that's nice so you can 16:26 do it ahead of time. Yeah. I like that, that's good. 16:29 Okay. What are we doing here. This is 9/13 16:32 cooking sheets so make sure it is sprayed with 16:35 a non stick oil. Okay. Then I will go ahead 16:40 and transfer, can you hold this one for me. 16:42 Yeah. This kind of heavy, okay I will just 16:45 take it all out. Okay. My mom always do not 16:49 waste anything, like this, yes, yes. And I'll 16:51 go ahead and transfer. So we're not making 16:54 cookies per say it's just gonna be whole. 16:55 This is gonna be bar. Oh bar. And you can go 16:59 and transfer over to cookie sheets, there, 17:03 you got it? Yes, then spray out. Okay, so it just 17:06 makes a nice thin layer there. Yes spray out. 17:09 Alright. Since we had a healthy baking powder. 17:11 Yes. Is gonna be raised once. It's gonna rise. 17:14 Yes, it's gonna be rise once you bake it 17:16 in the oven. How long you baked it for. 17:18 Okay 350 degrees for 20 minutes. 17:23 20 minutes, okay. Yeah. And we have some 17:25 finished bars we wanna show our friends at home. 17:28 Oh very nice they did rise. Yeah. I can see that 17:31 and you just cut them up. Yeah but you need to 17:34 do I am gonna show you one more. Okay. 17:36 Things you can do, okay. You put the walnuts on 17:40 before you bake it. Walnuts. Or after. 17:42 You sprinkle on top of it. Before you baked it, 17:44 okay. Yeah, before you baked it you have to 17:45 sprinkle because it shows nice appearance. 17:49 Yes. You know that cooking it has to be good 17:52 for you, healthy and tastes good, has to be 17:55 look good. Otherwise no one will eat it. 17:58 Okay, good and here is our bars. You wanna 18:01 taste one piece. I do, you gonna try one too. 18:04 You wanna try. We'll have this and share give me 18:06 small one. Okay, delicious. It's very good Kyong. 18:15 Thank you. You guys have to try this at home. 18:21 It's a good flavor, it's nice and moist, 18:23 it's chewy, very good. Let's go to our next 18:25 recipe. We're gonna make pancakes. 18:28 For the Oat Pancakes you will need. 18:30 1 c. whole wheat flour 1 c. oatmeal 18:34 1 ½ tsp. sea salt 2 c. soy milk 18:38 2 tbsp. canola oil 3 tbsp. honey 18:42 and 1 ½ tbsp. vanilla. You know to me Kyong, 18:47 I think pancakes is one of the most perfect 18:49 breakfast. It just seems I love pancakes for 18:51 breakfast. You know well, I am from Korea. Yes. 18:55 So the Korean people we eat rice and kimchi 18:58 for breakfast. Right. But when I came to 19:00 America you got to have pancake for breakfast. 19:03 That's right. Okay, so this makes them healthy, 19:05 something that will give you less energy. 19:07 That's right. That's what we're gonna make today. 19:09 Okay good. The first one we're gonna put some 19:11 soy milk. Alright. 2 cups soy milk in the blender. 19:16 Yes, then after that we're gonna put some whole 19:20 wheat flour. Yes. With the fibers and vitamins 19:23 and minerals. That's right, without any of that 19:26 germ removed in any other. Right and this is 19:28 another granola and now it's not granola. 19:32 I think it just look like a granola. It's a oatmeal. 19:35 Now is this quick oats or old fashion rolled oats? 19:38 You can just use either one. Okay. Yes. 19:40 So either one works. So you got more options. 19:42 Good. Sea salt and then we're put a little bit 19:46 of canola oil. This time only two tablespoons. 19:49 Okay, that's canola. And this is a honey, 19:51 this is sweetening. Okay. You know this is raw 19:54 honey so which is very high in enzymes. Yes. 19:58 It kills bacteria and germs and virus in your body, 20:02 so you can use as medicine. Yes. 20:04 And this is the raw honey we used, it was in the 20:06 last recipe we used. Right. Yeah. 20:08 And this is a little bit of vanilla. Okay. 20:10 Alright, then we're gonna blend it onto nice 20:14 and smooth. Okay let me see if I can get 20:16 the lid on. Okay, that's your job. 20:19 I wanna see if we don't have any accidents. 20:21 Okay. There we go. Let me stir this. Yeah, 20:31 good idea. Because you see this stuff has stuck 20:32 on the side. There is honey. Yeah. 20:36 I want all that honey in there. Oh you know 20:40 you already so sweet enough that you don't 20:43 need more honey. Well, it's good I like to eat 20:47 sweets. Okay, okay. There we go. Okay, 20:52 we'll try this again. Just a little bit more. Okay. 20:56 That' good enough. That's enough. 20:58 Yeah you don't have to blend it so fine. 21:00 Now I was thinking about sweet things you have 21:02 several cook books out, but you just, just came 21:06 out with a brand new cook book its all desserts. 21:09 Healthy desserts. Yes, that's right. 21:11 And all ingredients is healthy for you nothing 21:15 is harmful to you. Praise God. Yeah, amen. 21:17 That's wonderful. So I am gonna go ahead 21:19 and pour in the mixing bowl, okay, which is 21:21 so much easier to work when, can I. 21:23 Oh you want this I am sorry there you go. 21:27 You know my mom and grandma always do not 21:29 waste the anything. Yes, that's right. 21:32 Alright. This is good enough like that. Okay. 21:36 Then make sure that your pan is really hot. 21:40 Okay. If you don't have electric pan or 21:42 you just you can use regular frying pan it works. 21:45 Okay. I think I tried to make up for 21:48 a pancake here. Okay. Oh by the way, 21:51 Amy she's one of our camera lady here. 21:54 That's right. Today is her birthday. 21:56 That's right. So I am gonna make her 21:57 a birthday breakfast. She's having birthday 22:00 pancakes today. Alright, maybe I can make only 3. 22:05 Okay. That's sounds good. I don't want too 22:07 crowded here. Yeah, oh they look good. 22:11 Oh made a mess, this is delicious too. 22:15 Oh yeah, that's right, I am sure Malachi likes 22:17 to eat them too. Malachi. Your grandson. 22:20 He loves. He likes anything grandma cooks. 22:24 He think I am good cook. Yeah and he's prayed 22:27 God that lovely dinner nothing happened to my 22:31 grandma because she's a good cooker. Oh no 22:33 isn't that cute, good cooker. That's right. 22:36 Okay. Yeah. This is what I am just cook like her 22:40 regular pancake. Okay. Once till the edges 22:43 done then you can just turn it over. Okay. 22:46 And they will be done. It's pretty easy and simple. 22:47 Yes, and also you know the oats is very high 22:50 in fiber. Yes, the oats and vitamins. Yeah, 22:55 and vitamin B is in good fat and proteins 23:00 as a God is so good. God put all the good food 23:04 and the good nutrition.
