My special guest today is all the way 00:00:54.07\00:00:57.15 from Northern California, her name is Bev Condy 00:00:59.81\00:01:00.78 and she runs a ministry and has a ministry called 00:01:00.79\00:01:02.90 Feed the Flock. Welcome Bev, we are so glad to 00:01:02.93\00:01:05.16 have you here. Thank you so much, it's my delight. 00:01:05.19\00:01:07.17 So glad you came all the way from California 00:01:07.20\00:01:08.65 to share all these recipes. 00:01:08.68\00:01:09.84 Yes I am too and this has been 00:01:09.87\00:01:11.18 a neat experience. Yes. Tell us just a little bit 00:01:11.21\00:01:13.93 about, how you got into doing this type 00:01:13.96\00:01:16.71 of cooking and what you do? 00:01:16.74\00:01:18.88 Well there are several facets of getting into 00:01:18.91\00:01:21.37 this kind of cooking, I think probably it had 00:01:21.40\00:01:23.59 to do with health reasons. Yes. And our family tree 00:01:23.62\00:01:28.58 has high cholesterol by genetic propensity 00:01:28.61\00:01:31.24 and because of that it is important to find they 00:01:31.27\00:01:34.83 learn that is probably vice to eat better. 00:01:34.86\00:01:36.38 Absolutely, do you know I think we all can 00:01:36.41\00:01:38.10 relate to that, we may not have that, 00:01:38.13\00:01:39.97 but we all have something in our family tree, 00:01:40.00\00:01:41.77 right, right, so, this is a good to learn how to, yes, 00:01:41.80\00:01:44.14 we can eat different to make us feel better, 00:01:44.17\00:01:46.10 so it's really good and you do catering 00:01:46.13\00:01:47.89 and cooking schools and all kinds of things, right. 00:01:47.92\00:01:50.02 Well I have done these things and it's a lot of fun 00:01:50.05\00:01:52.21 and I am slowing down, but I still do them when asked. 00:01:52.24\00:01:55.29 Oh that's specials, very, very nice. 00:01:55.32\00:01:58.14 Yeah, if the Lord calls me then I do. 00:01:58.17\00:02:00.14 Absolutely, and you even ran a restaurant 00:02:00.17\00:02:02.73 for sometime to. Yes, I did and that 00:02:02.76\00:02:04.16 was a very delightful experience 00:02:04.19\00:02:05.65 and turning my life long time back actually, 00:02:05.68\00:02:07.87 but the memories are very precious. 00:02:07.90\00:02:11.60 Oh absolutely. And this specific burger 00:02:11.63\00:02:13.89 that we are doing today was called at the store 00:02:13.92\00:02:17.13 the Un-burger. The reason, 00:02:17.16\00:02:18.84 why we call it the Un-burger is because the 00:02:18.87\00:02:21.31 context of time in that time, 00:02:21.34\00:02:26.09 they had a drink called 7-up, 00:02:26.12\00:02:28.21 which they still have, right, but they were 00:02:28.24\00:02:30.15 marketing it as the Un-Cola Oh Okay. 00:02:30.18\00:02:34.67 And those were years it was the Uncola, 00:02:34.70\00:02:36.52 so have the Unburger to go within. 00:02:36.55\00:02:38.14 That's very cute, because this is healthy right, 00:02:38.17\00:02:41.77 it's no meat products in it at all, that's right, 00:02:41.80\00:02:43.49 so, no there is nothing like, that's harmful 00:02:43.52\00:02:45.34 in fact there is hardly nothing in it at all 00:02:45.37\00:02:47.01 except grains and onions, and no eggs, 00:02:47.04\00:02:50.05 and no binding agent. Flour is the binding agent. 00:02:50.08\00:02:53.42 Now we are going to picnic in the backyard 00:02:53.45\00:02:55.31 and I have a cuter apron here too. 00:02:55.34\00:02:56.84 Bev gave it to me, Yes. That's really nice, 00:02:56.87\00:02:58.99 we are matching today. Actually, 00:02:59.02\00:03:01.42 we have a picnic that we do have had in the 00:03:01.45\00:03:04.20 pastor, it's called picnic in the pastor 00:03:04.23\00:03:05.78 and we taken out at a round table with table 00:03:05.81\00:03:08.53 cloth to the ground and all the fun things 00:03:08.56\00:03:10.71 and take on our food and eat with our sheep. 00:03:10.74\00:03:13.12 Oh, because they stayed in the parameter, 00:03:13.15\00:03:15.84 you know. Yes, and watch this as we were 00:03:15.87\00:03:17.64 having a nice picnic but it's a lot fun. 00:03:17.67\00:03:19.94 Oh that's real quite, that's real fun. 00:03:19.97\00:03:21.35 Well today we are gonna do that with our 00:03:21.38\00:03:22.49 sheep aprons here. That's right, that's right. 00:03:22.52\00:03:24.68 Let's read our first recipe for those Barn Burgers. 00:03:24.71\00:03:26.98 Alright. For the Barn Burger you need one 00:03:27.01\00:03:29.67 cup soy beans dry, one cup bulgur wheat dry, 00:03:29.70\00:03:34.55 one half cup sesame seeds, one quarter cup soy sauce, 00:03:34.58\00:03:38.91 one onion finely chopped, one tea spoon garlic salt 00:03:38.94\00:03:43.75 and three table spoons, whole wheat flour. 00:03:43.78\00:03:46.76 You also need 3 to 6 table spoons water, 00:03:46.79\00:03:49.84 one half tea spoon onion powder, 00:03:49.87\00:03:52.14 one tea spoon of sage and one quarter cup oil. 00:03:52.17\00:03:55.35 We know something Bev, I really like about 00:03:57.16\00:03:58.93 your recipes is that they are so easy. 00:03:58.96\00:04:01.13 Pretty easy, absolutely, yeah. 00:04:01.16\00:04:03.39 You know I was telling Bev that she says she can 00:04:03.42\00:04:05.75 do her recipes in 10 to 15 minutes 00:04:05.78\00:04:07.42 and that's phenomenal most people think they 00:04:07.45\00:04:09.29 get a fast on tray on the table in half an hour, 00:04:09.32\00:04:11.56 so that's really good 10 to 15 minutes. 00:04:11.59\00:04:13.80 Well my kitchen and I, oh we doesn't look really 00:04:13.83\00:04:15.89 good when I am done. This is glue, right, 00:04:15.92\00:04:19.20 right I cook fast, but I don't shut any doors, 00:04:19.23\00:04:21.85 yes right, okay well let's look at what we are 00:04:21.88\00:04:24.27 doing with these burgers. 00:04:24.30\00:04:25.34 Well we have already done some soy beans, 00:04:25.37\00:04:28.87 but I want to tell you the soy beans don't 00:04:28.90\00:04:30.62 look like this, when they are not soaked. 00:04:30.65\00:04:33.46 Okay. So there are little round beans 00:04:33.49\00:04:35.32 and then you have to soak them to turn them 00:04:35.35\00:04:36.51 into beans, it look like little navy beans. 00:04:36.54\00:04:38.74 Yeah they do, they look like navy beans very much, 00:04:38.77\00:04:40.41 so you soaked them how long? 00:04:40.44\00:04:41.48 Overnight, overnight okay. You can do other things to 00:04:41.51\00:04:45.33 them to do it faster, but it's nice to do it overnight, 00:04:45.36\00:04:48.31 oh yeah, because they are not fully matured 00:04:48.34\00:04:50.18 into little shape it should be. Yes, yes, okay. 00:04:50.21\00:04:53.39 So I'm gonna use my handy dandy little thinner, 00:04:53.42\00:04:55.94 yeah that's cute, and then it go on, very nice. 00:04:55.97\00:04:58.50 And you have already grind some of the 00:05:05.95\00:05:07.03 so you save some of that work, 00:05:07.06\00:05:08.42 yes we just wanted to save sometime. 00:05:08.45\00:05:10.28 Because there was one cup of beans dry, 00:05:10.31\00:05:11.85 but it makes quite a bit, because you soak as well. 00:05:11.88\00:05:13.66 Yes it's a huge amount really, 00:05:13.69\00:05:14.98 so you want to make sure that you soak 00:05:15.01\00:05:17.16 your one cup of beans, because it turns into 00:05:17.19\00:05:20.05 about three cups or may be more. 00:05:20.08\00:05:22.04 Yes, I got you, yeah, you got all that? 00:05:22.07\00:05:26.23 Here it is, I knew some powder is on way, 00:05:26.26\00:05:29.46 okay then the next thing I think we add is 00:05:29.49\00:05:32.37 something like burger wheat, that's right 00:05:32.40\00:05:34.81 and that has to be done, one cup of burger wheat 00:05:34.84\00:05:36.60 and that has to be done in hot water, 00:05:36.63\00:05:37.60 boiling water for a period of time, 00:05:37.63\00:05:39.87 I don't know if the recipe mentioned it, 00:05:39.90\00:05:41.25 but it has to be, so nice and fluffy like that. 00:05:41.28\00:05:44.37 Okay and because really everything has 00:05:44.40\00:05:48.64 to become a pre-done, because when you 00:05:48.67\00:05:50.81 cook them out. It is 15 minutes I checked, 00:05:50.84\00:05:53.29 15 minutes you would put in the boiling water 00:05:53.32\00:05:55.58 and the burger wheat, okay, I will take that stuff. 00:05:55.61\00:05:58.38 Thank you. Get this too. 00:05:58.41\00:06:00.64 And then we just keep adding all these other 00:06:00.67\00:06:02.74 ingredients. Okay. As mentioned in other times 00:06:02.77\00:06:07.25 past that one onion should be at least this much. 00:06:07.28\00:06:10.06 Okay, I don't use small onions, okay, 00:06:10.09\00:06:13.05 so even if you say the quarter onion, 00:06:13.08\00:06:14.44 you are gonna put in the whole onion, you got it. 00:06:14.47\00:06:16.16 Absolute, so I don't know what else to say. 00:06:16.19\00:06:18.31 You want sesame seeds, half a cup of sesame seeds, 00:06:18.34\00:06:20.21 half a cup and this might be, yeah it looks about 00:06:20.24\00:06:23.36 half a cup and then quarter cup of soy sauce 00:06:23.39\00:06:25.72 and a tea spoon of garlic salt. 00:06:25.75\00:06:30.13 Oh well I think the garlic salt didn't make it. 00:06:30.16\00:06:33.54 Okay, well then if you don't have the garlic salt, 00:06:33.57\00:06:35.91 what to do that, right, okay, but 00:06:35.94\00:06:38.96 We have the sage, I think its important 00:06:38.99\00:06:41.21 that we don't forget the sage. 00:06:41.24\00:06:42.27 The sage really good, is that half a tea spoon 00:06:42.30\00:06:44.51 or tea spoon. Let's look and see, 00:06:44.54\00:06:46.39 it is one tea spoon yeah, there you go,. 00:06:46.42\00:06:52.67 And it is important if you loose things over the 00:06:55.67\00:06:57.17 edges of the tea spoon, enjoy it because 00:06:57.20\00:06:59.64 it's gonna taste that much better, 00:06:59.67\00:07:00.94 that's right absolutely and we need the oil too. 00:07:00.97\00:07:03.24 So it's a quarter cup, but I don't know if you put 00:07:03.27\00:07:05.70 in the quarter cup or yes I do change it a little bit. 00:07:05.73\00:07:09.74 Is there a quarter cup, here is some, 00:07:12.19\00:07:13.70 here you go, you have to hold this way 00:07:13.73\00:07:17.50 and could you see quarter, no it don't yeah, 00:07:17.53\00:07:22.37 I see a fourth. We might have to like put it down, 00:07:22.40\00:07:26.50 on a flat surface. There you go. How is that, 00:07:26.53\00:07:30.24 it looks brilliant. Okay good, we are you kind 00:07:30.27\00:07:31.83 of a dump cook so this is up to rally, 00:07:31.86\00:07:33.40 right yeah this is good. Okay, and then the flour 00:07:33.43\00:07:38.57 do you add the flour, yes do much the flour, 00:07:38.60\00:07:40.51 yes did we add water. We didn't here is the water 00:07:40.54\00:07:42.99 and is it its three table spoons, 00:07:43.02\00:07:44.49 it's 3 to 6 table spoons water, 00:07:44.52\00:07:46.91 so now on the water I putting three to start. 00:07:46.94\00:07:51.56 Okay and if it's too dry I have little more water. 00:07:51.59\00:07:55.19 Okay and many times its needs more flour 00:07:55.22\00:07:58.25 than water and it says three table spoons flour, 00:07:58.28\00:08:00.64 I don't know if you start with that 00:08:00.67\00:08:01.87 or how are you doing that. This is a kind of just an 00:08:01.90\00:08:07.44 measurement hopefully. Okay alright, yeah do we 00:08:07.47\00:08:11.61 get it all things exception the garlic salt, 00:08:11.64\00:08:13.45 that's right, its good. Well I think did we 00:08:13.48\00:08:15.75 put them the Braggs Aminos. We did it we put 00:08:15.78\00:08:19.39 in this soy sauce or the Braggs Amino, 00:08:19.42\00:08:21.02 well that's what I use, soy sauce is useable 00:08:21.05\00:08:23.78 there is all kinds of things that are useable, 00:08:23.81\00:08:25.56 but yeah. I like it Braggs better because 00:08:25.59\00:08:30.30 I think its more nourishing yes, oops, absolutely, 00:08:30.33\00:08:33.70 think that flu, yeah. Well we just said 00:08:33.73\00:08:37.19 we cook in 10 to 15 minutes, right without having 00:08:37.22\00:08:39.45 the clean things, that's okay, things won't be 00:08:39.48\00:08:41.26 clean. We are gonna get this going hopefully, okay. 00:08:41.29\00:08:46.27 The fun part of watching to do this is that 00:08:46.30\00:08:48.60 these burgers don't have any binding eggs 00:08:48.63\00:08:50.36 except the flour in the water. 00:08:50.39\00:08:51.84 Yes, and so it's kind of important that we are. 00:08:51.87\00:08:55.47 Here is a scoop, we look at this and kind of make 00:08:58.95\00:09:01.23 a judgment. Okay got you. It looks kind of like it 00:09:01.26\00:09:04.56 might not set together well and I am just, 00:09:04.59\00:09:06.81 that means, does that mean it needs more water 00:09:06.84\00:09:08.06 or its needs flour, more flour okay. 00:09:08.09\00:09:10.60 See how dark, yeah I can see that. 00:09:10.63\00:09:12.71 So that's the flour that would hold that together 00:09:12.74\00:09:15.85 yes, it would. Okay, so for our friends at home 00:09:15.88\00:09:19.08 if you need that then you can just keep adding 00:09:19.11\00:09:20.96 flour to whole scatter, you got it that's the 00:09:20.99\00:09:22.61 principle, okay, that's it. I got you. 00:09:22.64\00:09:24.37 And so it's not a real concise thing yes, 00:09:24.40\00:09:27.19 it's concise that you have to have your burgers, 00:09:27.22\00:09:29.09 your soy beans and your burger wheat 00:09:29.12\00:09:31.25 that's important. Yeah, but after that it really. 00:09:31.28\00:09:34.03 Yes, oops, that a little, add the rest of the flour 00:09:34.06\00:09:41.61 there. Yes and it looks like our pan is ready 00:09:41.64\00:09:45.68 here too, we can put our soy bean patties on there. 00:09:45.71\00:09:48.55 I think so, good, I think it is gonna work really good. 00:09:48.58\00:09:52.19 Oh yes. But I am not sure that the pan is really 00:09:52.22\00:09:55.94 as hot as I thought and turn up the this much, okay. 00:09:55.97\00:09:59.47 There we go and there is your scoop, 00:09:59.50\00:10:05.39 you said you like always to have a scoop right. 00:10:05.42\00:10:07.19 Scooping is good. Yes. A big scoop and then you like 00:10:07.22\00:10:11.29 a little scoop too, right and your cooking. 00:10:11.32\00:10:12.80 Yeah small scoops are good for cooking, 00:10:12.83\00:10:14.30 yeah its very nice. Now would you smash them down 00:10:14.33\00:10:18.11 or you are gonna leave them like them. 00:10:18.14\00:10:19.12 Tell me now, what do you really think. 00:10:19.15\00:10:21.30 I would smash them down, but I don't know. 00:10:21.33\00:10:23.07 No we are gonna smash them. 00:10:23.10\00:10:25.10 Okay. Oh there we go. Very nice, smells 00:10:25.13\00:10:32.09 good too and it is so healthy. I like that. 00:10:32.12\00:10:34.86 They have a nice flavor. Absolutely. 00:10:34.89\00:10:36.93 I think with the garlic I think anything with 00:10:36.96\00:10:39.64 lots of garlic and onions is inevitable to be 00:10:39.67\00:10:40.64 wonderful to eat, absolutely now how long would we, 00:10:40.65\00:10:42.83 we are not gonna cook them all right now, 00:10:42.86\00:10:44.53 you got see at the end of the program, 00:10:44.56\00:10:45.73 but how long would we cook each side for. 00:10:45.76\00:10:47.40 I think about seven to ten minutes. 00:10:47.43\00:10:49.07 So quarter while that, yeah it's take a little while 00:10:49.10\00:10:51.05 and then flip them. Flip them. Then we got all the 00:10:51.08\00:10:53.34 trimmings right, just I wanna look at this 00:10:53.37\00:10:54.60 before we go to our next recipe here. 00:10:54.63\00:10:56.35 You can see you got all here. Buns here. 00:10:57.32\00:11:00.61 Yes there Buns and there is menace 00:11:00.64\00:11:04.66 and there is onions and tomatoes and pickles. 00:11:04.69\00:11:08.54 Very nice. So I think that will be beautiful, 00:11:08.57\00:11:10.57 when you get to see them next time. 00:11:10.60\00:11:11.71 Oh yeah that's right and you got your onions 00:11:11.74\00:11:14.07 and everything there. That's right, good, 00:11:14.10\00:11:15.80 that's right. What we are making next? 00:11:15.83\00:11:17.07 I think we gonna making something 00:11:17.10\00:11:19.43 that I can't remember, the Sheepherder's Stew 00:11:19.46\00:11:21.41 oh that's right. The Stew that's rocking that sounds 00:11:21.44\00:11:23.78 really good. Let's read the recipe. 00:11:23.81\00:11:25.49 You wanna read that recipe for us? 00:11:25.52\00:11:26.70 Sheepherder's Stew, well I do indeed. 00:11:26.73\00:11:28.58 One can of garden vegetable soup, 00:11:28.61\00:11:30.95 one can of hearty tomato soup, 00:11:30.98\00:11:32.52 one can pasta uncooked, I am sorry that's one cup, 00:11:32.55\00:11:36.74 one bag baby lima beans or frozen lima beans 00:11:36.77\00:11:41.01 it doesn't matter, one table spoon garlic minced, 00:11:41.04\00:11:43.35 one can of kidney beans, un-drained, 00:11:43.38\00:11:45.14 one can of tomatoes diced, one can of whole kernel 00:11:45.17\00:11:48.87 corn drained, two cups artichoke hearts, 00:11:48.90\00:11:51.64 one can of whole olives drained and for 00:11:51.67\00:11:54.83 additional, if you wanna put two Boca Burgers, 00:11:54.86\00:11:57.34 crumbled in there. It makes it little more 00:11:57.37\00:11:58.94 meaty tasty. But that sounds very picnic, 00:11:58.97\00:12:02.98 I like that, well it's gonna because the 00:12:03.01\00:12:05.68 presentation is fun. Yes. And I like soup 00:12:05.71\00:12:09.57 that is not really drippy. Yes and this is really 00:12:09.60\00:12:13.81 a stew instead of soup, but it started out 00:12:13.84\00:12:16.83 in my kitchen one day, I was having company 00:12:16.86\00:12:20.04 and lot of people were coming and I thought you 00:12:20.07\00:12:22.29 two cans of soup is not gonna quite do it 00:12:22.32\00:12:24.41 and I didn't have anything pre-made 00:12:24.44\00:12:26.53 and so I thought what I will just go in the pantry 00:12:26.56\00:12:29.05 yes, and so you know you can call it pantry soup, 00:12:29.08\00:12:32.62 you call it pantry stew, why because we did lot 00:12:32.65\00:12:35.01 of fun. That's right and you head all those sheep's. 00:12:35.04\00:12:37.40 You got it, yeah, so I am just gonna start adding 00:12:37.43\00:12:40.01 and this is all is and it is just so wonderful 00:12:40.04\00:12:42.60 because the flavor mills together. I like that, 00:12:42.63\00:12:45.75 and that's the vegetable soup, in fact even at home 00:12:45.78\00:12:49.14 I use two cans of soup of two different types. 00:12:49.17\00:12:51.66 Okay. That are appropriate you know, 00:12:51.69\00:12:54.17 yes that match together, yeah alright. 00:12:54.20\00:12:55.69 I am gonna put those in and hopeful they'll get 00:12:55.72\00:12:57.46 done too, okay. And we are just gonna dump away 00:12:57.49\00:12:59.93 and dumping is my favorite thing. 00:12:59.96\00:13:02.57 There is a wonderful cake recipe, 00:13:02.60\00:13:04.72 what they do not own, but its liked dump cake. 00:13:04.75\00:13:07.19 Oh really that's cute. And you do very similar 00:13:07.22\00:13:09.68 to this, for which you have to have lot's of garlic, 00:13:09.71\00:13:12.81 yes that's right, we got to put that garlic in there, 00:13:12.84\00:13:15.56 yeah right. That's right so the people coming over, 00:13:15.59\00:13:18.96 did they like the soup. Well actually they 00:13:18.99\00:13:21.69 absolutely loved it and I have been making it 00:13:21.72\00:13:24.47 every since in a variation of the theme. 00:13:24.50\00:13:26.48 Yes. I don't always have the same veggies in my 00:13:26.51\00:13:28.61 cupboard. Absolutely. And sometimes I don't 00:13:28.64\00:13:30.75 have all the right things, but then I have the 00:13:30.78\00:13:33.48 other things that I have absolutely. 00:13:33.51\00:13:35.17 You take what you got and put it is 00:13:35.20\00:13:37.34 and if it's summer time you can put some 00:13:37.37\00:13:38.34 of that fresh stuff from the gardening stuff 00:13:38.35\00:13:40.17 as well. It's especially nice when you can put the 00:13:40.20\00:13:42.76 fresh, but this is a really nice thing 00:13:42.79\00:13:44.84 so for a winter night. Yes. And for a picnic it's nice, 00:13:44.87\00:13:49.38 because you can put it in a thermal container. 00:13:49.41\00:13:51.62 Yeah, and it's thick. That's right I like that. 00:13:51.65\00:13:55.73 And to me I am thinking I would really like this 00:13:55.76\00:13:57.59 Bev like on a winter night, by a cracking fire, 00:13:57.62\00:14:00.67 and doesn't that sound good to you guys, 00:14:00.70\00:14:02.30 menace nice for the good book and hot drink, 00:14:02.33\00:14:04.64 with your slippers on. That's right my slippers 00:14:04.67\00:14:06.60 I think that is a, my husband's slippers. 00:14:06.63\00:14:08.27 Well whatever slippers work, but the thing is 00:14:08.30\00:14:10.20 it would even be nice to be comes up by a 00:14:10.23\00:14:12.75 fire place with your robin and your slippers 00:14:12.78\00:14:14.59 and that could be Friday nigh supper. 00:14:14.62\00:14:16.83 Absolutely. That's right. I think the reason 00:14:16.86\00:14:18.57 why we make lots of soups in our families because, 00:14:18.60\00:14:20.57 we miss those, well we won't miss this is 00:14:20.60\00:14:23.98 my favorite part. Fordhook Lima is my 00:14:24.01\00:14:26.08 favorite beans. Are they? Yes they are they 00:14:26.11\00:14:28.37 do come in baby limas but they are not very 00:14:28.40\00:14:30.53 large enough to really enjoy because its not 00:14:30.56\00:14:32.33 enough that you chew, right and since I am 00:14:32.36\00:14:34.54 a person loves to chew, but isn't that just 00:14:34.57\00:14:36.93 beautiful? Oh yeah, absolutely, very nice, 00:14:36.96\00:14:41.74 I am sorry I interrupted you back. 00:14:41.77\00:14:43.21 You were taking about you and your husband. 00:14:43.24\00:14:45.08 Well you know what, my memory is so determinate, 00:14:45.11\00:14:47.32 okay, I am already know, I am sorry. 00:14:47.35\00:14:50.15 I don't remember whatever it was, okay. 00:14:50.18\00:14:51.42 But you are saying this is good on a Friday night. 00:14:51.45\00:14:54.00 Yes. It's a good thing. Oh I was gonna say in 00:14:54.03\00:14:55.81 the context of going up we always make soup on 00:14:55.84\00:14:58.71 Friday because we clean the fridge. 00:14:58.74\00:15:00.08 Yes, and we got ready for Sabbath 00:15:00.11\00:15:03.72 and we have the fridge all cleaned 00:15:03.75\00:15:04.79 and all the stuff that was in the pan, 00:15:04.82\00:15:06.37 so that why we ate for Sabbath. 00:15:06.40\00:15:07.78 So all my life I had soup on Friday night, 00:15:07.81\00:15:10.42 but then I have also popcorn and apples on 00:15:10.45\00:15:12.52 Saturday night. That seems you got a traditional 00:15:12.55\00:15:15.86 I think. Yes. For a lot of Adventist, 00:15:15.89\00:15:17.47 there is a strange culture that we have. 00:15:17.50\00:15:19.07 Yeah that's right. That's nice and how long our 00:15:19.10\00:15:21.79 friends would like this cook on the stove for. 00:15:21.82\00:15:24.14 I would cook it until it simmers and till it melts 00:15:24.17\00:15:26.20 the flavors together and you can just kind of tell it, 00:15:26.23\00:15:28.94 when you are ready. It smells wonderful. 00:15:28.97\00:15:31.30 Make a whole pasta smells wonderful, 00:15:31.33\00:15:33.80 oh absolutely, now you would want that pasta 00:15:33.83\00:15:35.25 definitely to be cooked. The pasta will cook in 00:15:35.28\00:15:38.22 the time with which the 20 minutes that you 00:15:38.25\00:15:40.91 probably having on top the stove. 00:15:40.94\00:15:42.28 Okay, so it's definitely within that half hour, 00:15:42.31\00:15:46.07 half an hour time. Yes, oh that's, I mean that's nice 00:15:46.10\00:15:49.01 to take out on a picnic yes, and now you had 00:15:49.04\00:15:52.14 sheep on your farm, didn't you have sheep? 00:15:52.17\00:15:53.56 That's why we got the title of the 00:15:53.59\00:15:54.65 Sheepherder's Stew right? 00:15:54.68\00:15:55.78 Yes, we didn't and all these things you know 00:15:55.81\00:15:58.94 would be could be taken out the pastor, 00:15:58.97\00:16:00.54 yes and enjoyed from a distance to the house. 00:16:00.57\00:16:04.89 It's a very nice if you have large encourage 00:16:04.92\00:16:07.01 I found it was just delightful to go out 00:16:07.04\00:16:09.70 to the pastor and look back to the house 00:16:09.73\00:16:12.95 and I thought oh yes, oh I wonder who lived there, 00:16:12.98\00:16:15.81 you know or who lives there its kind of a 00:16:15.84\00:16:17.35 fairytale thing, but you never really see your 00:16:17.38\00:16:19.52 house from a distance in that environment much 00:16:19.55\00:16:22.63 because you might be feeding animals 00:16:22.66\00:16:24.04 or what ever you are not really looking, 00:16:24.07\00:16:25.67 but to be out with your chairs and everything 00:16:25.70\00:16:28.19 it is just very precious, so it's a family activity. 00:16:28.22\00:16:30.93 Yes yeah, good, I love it. Now next we're making 00:16:30.96\00:16:33.89 something that's very picnicking, 00:16:33.92\00:16:35.53 Potato Salad to me is very picnicking, 00:16:35.56\00:16:38.28 anytime we go on the picnic you got to have 00:16:38.31\00:16:39.92 Potato Salad. I think so, oh yeah absolutely. 00:16:39.95\00:16:42.80 And we raise chickens and I have tons of 00:16:42.83\00:16:44.14 wonderful eggs, but on this next recipe 00:16:44.17\00:16:47.09 we will use something different than eggs. 00:16:47.12\00:16:48.91 Oh good, I would look for it I don't know what 00:16:48.94\00:16:50.77 that is. Yeah it will be fun, 00:16:50.80\00:16:51.95 let's read that recipe for the Potato Salad. 00:16:51.98\00:16:55.38 For the Farmhouse Potato Salad I like that title. 00:16:55.41\00:16:58.31 You need five large russet potatoes boiled 00:16:58.34\00:17:01.91 with skins, one onion diced, five celery stalks 00:17:01.94\00:17:07.31 diced large, three table spoons sweet pickle relish, 00:17:07.34\00:17:11.98 one package tofu extra firm, one table spoon food 00:17:12.01\00:17:17.02 yeast, you also need one tea spoon chicken 00:17:17.05\00:17:20.11 style seasoning salt to taste, 00:17:20.14\00:17:22.84 a dash of turmeric and a dash of garlic salt. 00:17:22.87\00:17:26.65 For the dressing you will need one cup vegenaise, 00:17:26.68\00:17:31.59 one third cup rice milk, one and one half table 00:17:31.62\00:17:35.39 spoons lemon juice and one table spoon sugar. 00:17:35.42\00:17:38.99 That seems like some easy, I like that and our secrete 00:17:40.55\00:17:42.81 ingredient s gonna be tofu, you got it. 00:17:42.84\00:17:45.36 Yeah. In spite of the eggs. It was, it was and 00:17:45.39\00:17:47.89 so we are just gonna start it right away 00:17:47.92\00:17:49.25 just to get it cooking, okay, it just takes 00:17:49.28\00:17:51.62 a minute, yes. See it is for olive oil 00:17:51.65\00:17:53.91 and nippy in there, just a little bit only 00:17:53.94\00:17:55.49 because I wanna fry this a little more strongly 00:17:55.52\00:17:58.38 than normal, yeah and this is just water packed 00:17:58.41\00:18:02.16 tofu that you can get in store? Right, any place you 00:18:02.19\00:18:04.67 can buy this at any supermarket 00:18:04.70\00:18:06.29 and today's society is so easy to be vegetarian. 00:18:06.32\00:18:09.08 Yes, because the stuff is everywhere. 00:18:09.11\00:18:10.91 There is a lot more common than it was even say 10, 00:18:10.94\00:18:13.18 15, 20 years ago. Yeah, and lot of my recipes are 00:18:13.21\00:18:15.51 how to make this and how to make that which we 00:18:15.54\00:18:18.11 don't need to do that anymore. 00:18:18.14\00:18:19.34 Right, just you can buy this, oh yeah. 00:18:19.37\00:18:21.06 Now you are adding the nutritious like there right, 00:18:25.95\00:18:28.33 some chicken seasoning, yeah and a little bit of 00:18:28.36\00:18:31.77 turmeric to make it like an egg, good, 00:18:31.80\00:18:34.67 like its in the yellow color, yes, doesn't want 00:18:34.70\00:18:38.60 to do it oh, are you okay? Yeah I think it just 00:18:38.63\00:18:41.73 went in eyeball. Here we go. Okay. 00:18:41.76\00:18:46.80 Do you wanna little bit of garlic salt in there too. 00:18:49.75\00:18:51.74 I will put some you can pop them in on top, 00:18:51.77\00:18:54.14 good more that's fine honey, the thing is that 00:18:56.08\00:18:59.30 it has to be a little season because, oh yeah, 00:18:59.33\00:19:01.82 tofu just as we talked about another time, yes, 00:19:01.85\00:19:05.60 there is no flavor here, so if you want it to be 00:19:05.63\00:19:08.49 flavorful you have to fix it to be flavorful. 00:19:08.52\00:19:11.22 Right, you got to put into it, 00:19:11.25\00:19:12.22 you need some salt too or do you think you're ok. 00:19:12.23\00:19:13.93 Just give a buzz here. That's probably fine. 00:19:13.96\00:19:18.51 You need more, okay, it looks good. 00:19:18.54\00:19:23.69 The yellow I like the turmeric because that 00:19:23.72\00:19:25.46 really gives the yellow color makes it look much 00:19:25.49\00:19:27.14 more like eggs. Well it does make it look more 00:19:27.17\00:19:28.78 like eggs and then when you mix it all together 00:19:28.81\00:19:31.27 it has a dilution and wonderful. 00:19:31.30\00:19:33.26 Yes. Wonderful stuff with you that you will tell 00:19:33.29\00:19:37.40 your guest after this a mine is taste good. 00:19:37.43\00:19:39.78 Yes. You don't venture forth and say oh by 00:19:39.81\00:19:43.18 the way, you are eating tofu, this potato salad 00:19:43.21\00:19:45.91 has tofu in it, and when they say really I like this, 00:19:45.94\00:19:49.59 it's taste good why don't you do, right, 00:19:49.62\00:19:52.11 then you can share. Yeah that's right, you know there 00:19:52.14\00:19:54.48 is a time or place where we think really things 00:19:54.51\00:19:55.69 sometimes we get it mixed up, that's right. 00:19:55.72\00:19:57.64 We are so eager to share. And like people over 00:19:57.67\00:20:01.16 the head. You buy them, that's right, 00:20:01.19\00:20:03.15 and they never, they are like I don't want anything 00:20:03.18\00:20:04.51 to do with it, really don't ever want to come 00:20:04.54\00:20:05.98 back to your house, yes, got it, 00:20:06.01\00:20:08.34 okay well we got that done and we are just 00:20:08.37\00:20:09.71 gonna let that for do it for a while, okay, 00:20:09.74\00:20:11.36 then we are just gonna put our potatoes, 00:20:11.39\00:20:12.79 I think it's really nice to do this salad warm, 00:20:12.82\00:20:17.10 I prefer to do warm potato salad. 00:20:17.13\00:20:19.57 Just after you've done the potatoes, 00:20:19.60\00:20:22.89 potatoes you just add this stuff and it's warm 00:20:22.92\00:20:26.27 and when you mix everything up it kind of 00:20:26.30\00:20:27.81 melts together, how nice, it's so wonderful, 00:20:27.84\00:20:30.71 yes. The flavor and as you noticed there is a 00:20:30.74\00:20:33.08 large onion here. I see that it's a good 00:20:33.11\00:20:35.07 size onion you guys. Just in case you had notice. 00:20:35.10\00:20:38.51 Yes, oops I'm sorry. Now is there are special 00:20:38.54\00:20:40.61 type of pickle relish that you'd like to use? 00:20:40.64\00:20:42.82 Will I do, I do use the kind it doesn't it have 00:20:42.85\00:20:47.08 vinegar, okay, but you can buy that health food store, 00:20:47.11\00:20:50.04 yes. But, you know if you not at that place you 00:20:50.07\00:20:51.76 just go in the store and buy your, right okay. 00:20:51.79\00:20:54.00 Okay I'm gonna mix this around just as made, 00:20:54.03\00:20:57.95 yeah, very good. We need a good big bowl 00:20:57.98\00:21:01.77 for this is for a whole bunch of people, 00:21:01.80\00:21:03.17 this is for company and oh yeah, 00:21:03.20\00:21:05.27 but she have lot of farm hands working, 00:21:05.30\00:21:07.07 yeah there you go, and I'm sorry 00:21:07.10\00:21:10.88 that we don't have that privilege of having warm 00:21:10.91\00:21:13.20 potatoes here, yes, because, at a time it 00:21:13.23\00:21:16.69 did it, yes, right. But, warm potatoes 00:21:16.72\00:21:19.82 really are so good I think. Yes, oh yeah. 00:21:19.85\00:21:23.49 And the dressing that we are making is 00:21:23.52\00:21:24.57 the dressing my mother use to make and, 00:21:24.60\00:21:26.64 in my estimation potato salad isn't a potato 00:21:26.67\00:21:29.66 salad unless it has that kind of dressing. 00:21:29.69\00:21:32.13 Of course , she didn't use soy milk 00:21:32.16\00:21:34.17 or rice milk or whatever else and she used the 00:21:34.20\00:21:37.36 good old fashion, right, whatever that. 00:21:37.39\00:21:40.09 I have altered these recipes, yes, so that they 00:21:40.12\00:21:43.57 are little more helpful, oh yeah, 00:21:43.60\00:21:44.91 oops did we miss it? No, so see if you had warm 00:21:47.28\00:21:51.71 potatoes and warm tofu wouldn't that be just, 00:21:51.74\00:21:53.63 oh yes you are right, delicious and so if, 00:21:53.66\00:21:59.58 we mix it up oh it doesn't look it. It looks good, 00:21:59.61\00:22:02.03 almost without the dressing, almost good enough 00:22:02.06\00:22:04.62 to eat, absolutely, but see as you mix in your tofu 00:22:04.65\00:22:07.17 that has already been colored, yes, it kind of 00:22:07.20\00:22:10.25 starts take a little idea of an egg. 00:22:10.28\00:22:12.63 It does that's right. With a white yoke you know 00:22:12.66\00:22:15.62 how it cooks, yes that's right, and the yellow yoke 00:22:15.65\00:22:18.20 and the white. Yeah that's right, 00:22:18.23\00:22:19.99 because they are the two colors, yeah, 00:22:20.02\00:22:21.54 that's what you want. So, it is just the neat recipe, 00:22:21.57\00:22:24.26 I like that and it is so simple to do, yes, 00:22:24.29\00:22:27.05 it's not difficult. Very nice lets work on this, 00:22:27.08\00:22:30.25 and put in this propping together, 00:22:30.28\00:22:31.67 yes just pop it in there, where you store that. 00:22:31.70\00:22:33.43 Now this is your vegenaise right? 00:22:33.46\00:22:35.95 Yes. Now you are using rice milk, 00:22:35.98\00:22:40.19 do prefer rice milk instead of soy milk, 00:22:40.22\00:22:41.76 well I'm a person who just likes rice milk, okay yeah. 00:22:41.79\00:22:45.79 Soy milk is good but I like rice milk. 00:22:45.82\00:22:48.24 And your lemon juice here, I mean you use the fresh 00:22:48.27\00:22:50.67 squeezed lemon juice? I use that one that's in 00:22:50.70\00:22:54.54 the plastic bottles in the freezers, 00:22:54.57\00:22:56.02 oh okay, and it's just pure yes, so that's 00:22:56.05\00:23:00.17 more what's the word it's more original state 00:23:00.20\00:23:04.18 than be it the other type of lemon juice 00:23:04.21\00:23:05.88 that you can buy right? Well you can juice the lemons, 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.13 right and this is true, but not everybody 00:23:08.16\00:23:09.51 has real lemons, you are right. 00:23:09.54\00:23:11.11 So, this is next best thing. 00:23:11.14\00:23:12.62 Okay that's what I am trying to say, thank you. 00:23:12.65\00:23:15.76 I was wondering if I needed to salt, 00:23:15.79\00:23:17.86 I don't think I salted this. We salted the tofu but 00:23:17.89\00:23:20.57 not the potatoes so, if you need salt then add 00:23:20.60\00:23:22.92 some salt that's good. Oops, it does enough, 00:23:22.95\00:23:26.16 that's all as I thought you guys. 00:23:26.19\00:23:27.84 Now, I have to taste that if you didn't taste right 00:23:33.21\00:23:35.39 and I want to put on the, okay let me give you 00:23:35.42\00:23:37.42 a spoon here, okay. Here we go, thank you, yeah. 00:23:37.45\00:23:44.39 It's good? May be we will add it, okay. 00:23:48.73\00:23:51.47 Now I don't always put it all in at first, okay, 00:23:51.50\00:23:55.60 because some times that's a little more dressing 00:23:55.63\00:23:57.59 then we really need, yeah absolutely, 00:23:57.62\00:23:59.36 but I like to put a dressing on potato salad 00:23:59.39\00:24:02.30 because that's just way I was raised I think, 00:24:02.33\00:24:04.31 oh yeah that right. But, lot of people just take 00:24:04.34\00:24:06.39 the mange and pop it on there, yes, 00:24:06.42\00:24:08.54 and that's perfectly fine, right, 00:24:08.57\00:24:10.51 but this is a little flavor that I just enjoy. 00:24:10.54\00:24:14.04 Yes, oh yeah now would you stick this in a fridge? 00:24:14.07\00:24:15.98 Or would you just eat it right away? 00:24:16.01\00:24:17.83 Well it was hot I would eat right away. 00:24:17.86\00:24:20.89 In fact probably wouldn't be finishing the 00:24:20.92\00:24:22.73 demonstration I just be eating away here. 00:24:22.76\00:24:24.79 Well this is a good thing it's cool right? 00:24:24.82\00:24:26.53 We get to finish here, right. Oh that's looks 00:24:26.56\00:24:30.57 very, very good. Yeah, you tell you 00:24:30.60\00:24:32.82 if you think we need to add a little more. 00:24:32.85\00:24:35.41 I think it's perfect? I think is very, very nice. 00:24:35.44\00:24:37.70 It's not too green, no it looks good. 00:24:37.73\00:24:39.36 Very nice yeah, good, I think probably 00:24:39.39\00:24:42.33 I would add just a snitch over here on this side. 00:24:42.36\00:24:44.50 Would you, okay well we will show in just a minute 00:24:44.53\00:24:47.69 friends the final products everything that 00:24:47.72\00:24:49.54 we made here today you get to see. 00:24:49.57\00:24:51.16 But, first we wanna give you our address 00:24:51.19\00:24:53.18 where can contact us and then you 00:24:53.21\00:24:54.46 can get in touch with Bev for yourself. 00:24:54.49\00:24:56.56 We hope you have enjoyed today's program 00:24:59.32\00:25:01.05 with Bev Condy.
