00:01 Did you know that most condiments
00:03 are full of sugar and fat. Well, we
00:04 have an alternative for you, so stay tune.
00:39 Welcome to "Let's Cook Together."
00:41 My name is Angela Lomacang, and I am so glad that you've
00:44 tuned in today. We have some great condiments
00:47 which will eventually lead up to a great Taco salad
00:50 and you will see the build in of our recipes today.
00:55 Our special guest today, his name is Robin Swain from
00:59 Georgia and he is with "Faith Made Whole Ministries"
01:03 and we thank you Robin for being here with us today.
01:06 Thank you for having me here.
01:07 Now tell me a little bit about your ministry.
01:09 Well, Angela, Faith Made Whole is basically
01:12 encompasses what we believe that also encompasses
01:15 what we do. We believe that by faith and Jesus Christ
01:20 and that faith alone in Jesus Christ that we can be
01:23 made whole. When I said whole I mean physically,
01:26 mentally as well as spiritually. Amen.
01:29 And so that's what we believe what we do we teach
01:32 people to go out and we teach them how they can
01:35 exercise that faith and by exercising that faith cause
01:39 them or help them to be in a state where they are well
01:42 physically, mentally and spiritually so that it's
01:44 cause that involves doing health seminars and involves
01:47 teaching the gospel and involves building up the
01:51 mind mentally, physically and spiritually.
01:53 You will heal those three components in anyone
01:55 of our seminars mental, physical, spiritual.
01:57 The three actually go hand in hand.
01:59 Now you say seminars, do you preach also?
02:03 Oh! Yes. I preach as well as cook, yes, as well as
02:08 teach. I don't give speeches, but yes,
02:11 we do seminars. We do preaching the Bible study,
02:14 the whole, amen, total package by God's grace.
02:17 And we have watched your DVD and it's very,
02:20 you are an excellent preacher. Praise the Lord.
02:22 Amen. You and your wife you go together
02:26 when you give the seminars. Yes, we travel together
02:27 with our Ministry together, yes. That's right,
02:29 that's right. So if anyone out there interested in
02:32 calling Robin just get a hold up us here at 3ABN
02:36 and we will be in contact with Robin.
02:39 Now what we need to do right now is look at
02:41 our first recipe for today. Our first recipe,
02:45 we gonna to make "Salsa" and for the Salsa you need:
02:49 5 medium tomatoes 1/2 cup of finely chopped onions
02:53 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro, finely chopped
02:56 1/2 cup of fresh bell pepper again finely chopped
03:01 1 tsp of garlic powder 4 to 6 cloves of fresh chopped
03:07 finely chopped garlic 1 fresh lime at least
03:11 the juice from 1 fresh lime
03:12 And then 1/2 tsp. of sea salt
03:17 Okay, and this is Salsa, which is gonna be a
03:20 wonderful recipe. We gonna be sharing today.
03:23 Now where do we begin? Let's begin by talking about
03:26 the tomatoes. The tomatoes, oh! Yes, excellent source
03:29 of, well has a high in vitamin C,
03:32 but also has Lycopene. That's right.
03:34 Lycopene is excellent especially for men
03:37 because the Lycopene helps prevent prostate cancer.
03:40 In fact, you can say one tomato a day keep the
03:43 prostate cancer away. So we gonna start with that,
03:46 Okay. And then simply I wanna just add the
03:48 ingredients, so we have the onions here.
03:50 Already chopped Already chopped
03:53 That's right. And interesting to know that
03:56 this Salsa is fresh. We took the tomatoes
03:59 by the way and we ground the tomatoes.
04:01 What? It's not canned? No, it's canned.
04:04 I mean for in a quick fixture you could use a can,
04:07 but we took tomatoes and we took 5 tomatoes
04:09 and we just used degrader. I see. I say ground,
04:12 I meant degrader. So we just use degrader.
04:14 This is the cilantro. You have to have cilantro
04:19 if you need to sauté it. Oh! You have to.
04:20 These are peppers. These are not hot peppers.
04:22 Let me make a note these are sweet peppers and
04:26 they are sweet peppers Yes, and this,
04:28 one of the things that is interestingly good to note
04:31 about this Salsa, it does not have, does not contain
04:34 any hot peppers. We teach to stay away from hot peppers.
04:38 There are some many determents to the hot
04:42 peppers and it causes things like high blood pressure
04:44 and contributes to those type of things,
04:46 but also contributes to things like stomach ulcers,
04:50 which leads to stomach cancer and things of that
04:51 nature. What about temper.
04:52 Temper. Does it help? Does it irritate people
04:56 and they get angry? No, that's way we say,
04:58 I've heard that. And they even feed it to animals,
05:00 believe it or not. They say when you give animals hard
05:04 things like the chilly peppers. This is well lot of
05:06 times how they train it bolts, so I am told so,
05:10 yeah, definitely something you want to.
05:11 It's funny you said that. Well, I mentioned that.
05:14 One of our churches way back and we had an elder
05:18 that came to our board meeting and every time
05:20 he came, not every time, but most of times
05:23 when he was there he was hot tempered and my husband
05:26 asked, did you have any pepper hot peppers?
05:29 He said, I had a lot of hot peppers,
05:31 so you will be careful with that hot pepper.
05:33 Yes, so, this contains none of that,
05:35 but instead we put the garlic.
05:37 The garlic will give it a cake and the peppers
05:40 will give it the flavors, so you have the flavor with
05:42 the cake. We add the lime juice and we add the salt
05:46 Angy that's it. That's it. That's it. We are done.
05:49 It's fresh 100 percent fresh. All the ingredients
05:52 are raw so you have live enzymes going to your body.
05:56 This will make a great addition to any,
06:00 in case you have a gathering, you have people
06:01 come over, yeah, and you gonna see me
06:03 we gonna put this on our final dish for the evening.
06:06 This mix very well and it taste even better
06:09 once it sets for lets say a few hours.
06:12 And this is our chip dip for our Salsa.
06:14 Chip deep, absolutely. For our chip dip
06:16 this is our Salsa for the chip dip.
06:18 Oh! Yes, doesn't it look wonderful?
06:19 Okay, thank you so much and at the end of the program
06:23 you will see the finish product of,
06:25 everything that we've made today. Absolutely.
06:28 We will be making and well, we gonna do is move on
06:30 to our next recipe, which is "Mayonnaise"
06:33 Okay, on Mayonnaise we have: 1 cup of raw cashews
06:37 A 12 oz box of MoriNu Silken Soft tofu
06:42 1 tbsp. of honey 1 tsp. of onion power
06:46 1/4 cup of lemon juice and finally
06:50 1 to 2 tsp. of sea salt
06:54 Okay, Mayonnaise. Let's see how we gonna do this.
06:58 Okay, we gonna start with the tofu. Oh, tofu.
07:01 And let me just mention and read that,
07:05 this mayonnaise so why we want to make a mayonnaise.
07:08 All the mayonnaise you provide. Yeah.
07:16 No oil and no vinegar. Okay. No vinegar.
07:17 We have to watch the vinegar, yes,
07:18 because vinegar is something that it gets into
07:20 the blood and it kind of take you to blood it.
07:23 It actually, it's something that we definitely caution
07:29 all of our, all of our people we council with in
07:32 our seminars definitely one who is watching
07:34 vinegar is not something you want to freely put into
07:36 your body. No. Not good for you.
07:39 No, it's not, in fact, did you note the vinegar is
07:43 what we say the highest form of fermentation.
07:46 Oh! Is it? Yes, we start with the berry
07:49 or the fruits or you can serve with the grain.
07:52 After the fruit comes to juice, from the juice
07:55 if it sits long enough, you get alcohol
07:57 and alcohol continues to firm to become vinegar.
08:00 Oh! Okay. So and then, in fact, some of these vinegars
08:04 that they put, you know you can clean with those vinegars
08:07 and clean products. Oh! People put that in
08:10 their stomachs. Not good at all.
08:12 Not good at all. That was lemon juice
08:14 and this is simply simple recipe. We added the salt.
08:17 We add the lemon juice, finally the honey.
08:19 We're going to blend and be on our way.
08:24 Quick and simple. Sure that's look easy.
08:28 Okay, here we go. Alright.
08:49 And once it becomes creamy you are done.
08:52 Really. So we can blend may be a few more seconds
08:54 if you want to but that's pretty creamy right there.
08:57 This is simple as that. And you just refrigerate it.
09:00 Refrigerate and add to your favorite sandwich
09:04 or as a topping to, it could be a base for many other
09:08 dressings as you will see because we going to go
09:12 from here and make a Thousand Island dressing,
09:14 in fact, we call it the Ten Thousand Island dressing.
09:18 Why do we call it Ten Thousand Island dressing
09:20 because it's 10 times healthier than any of these
09:23 other dressings that you will find in the stores
09:25 with all the ingredients and if I were less modest
09:30 I would say that it's 10 times taste better too.
09:33 It 10 times better. But I won't say that we just say
09:35 it's 10 times healthier, but it's Ten Thousand Island
09:38 dressing. Okay, let's go to that right now.
09:41 The recipe includes: 1 cup of mayonnaise
09:44 1/4 cup of olives, chopped that is
09:46 1/4 cup of pickle relish 2 tbsp. of chives
09:50 1 Jar of pimentos, chopped 2 tbsp. of onions, chopped
09:56 1/4 tsp. of sea salt and 1 to 2 tbsp. of capers,
10:01 minced and soaked in lemon juice which is optional.
10:07 Ten Thousand Island, what is this?
10:10 Ten Thousand Island dressing.
10:13 Well, I've, it's a 1,000 Islands, but, I love that.
10:16 Because it's 10 times healthier. We gonna to
10:19 call it Ten Thousand. 1,000 times 10,
10:22 Ten Thousand, so what we have, we have a lot of
10:26 different ingredients. I wanna mention a few things
10:28 because we talk briefly about the capers.
10:31 Yeah, we wanna know what are capers?
10:34 Capers actually a bud to a plant that is found in the
10:38 Mediterranean area, Mediterranean region,
10:42 and this bud is actually use lot of Mediterranean food.
10:46 You see it in Italian food, but from the additional
10:49 point of view; high in vitamin C, also has fiber
10:53 and also has something called Rutin,
10:55 and Rutin is something that is use as a,
10:58 it's an anti-inflammatory effect if you will,
11:03 also anti-oxidant as well, so very good and this,
11:09 Where can you get this? You can buy this now,
11:11 I want to mention because very important to mention
11:14 that this particular item here I got from the health
11:18 food store because it's soaked in lemon juice you can find
11:20 capers all, anywhere in any store, but they are soaked
11:23 in vinegar. Remember we're trying to stay away
11:25 from the vinegar. Oh! I see.
11:27 And also by the way, okay, yes, we are.
11:29 As a diuretic or it simulate digestion,
11:32 so just a few more copies of that,
11:33 but speaking of vinegar, also this pickle relish is
11:37 not just any pickle relish either I've mentioned
11:39 before I wanted to have one that soaked in lemon juice,
11:42 so this definitely why I put this as an option
11:46 because if you can't find it soaked in lemon juice,
11:48 I'm glad you just leave it out, and it will still
11:51 be good. Yeah, most of relish are soaked in,
11:54 Vinegar. Yeah. And remember we want to say away from
11:57 the vinegar not something that you wanna put in
12:00 your body, so go and right into it. We gonna
12:03 take this mayonnaise. You remember this?
12:05 Oh! We just made. We just made this. We gonna add
12:07 this. What? It looks just like mayo.
12:10 This is Mayo. Look at that and from here, beautiful,
12:14 these are the olives, the chopped olives.
12:17 Oh! It's chopped, yes, finely chopped.
12:19 Finely chopped olives. Wow!
12:21 Now, what we gonna see this is gonna get very thick,
12:24 always thick, thick, Ten Thousand Island dressing
12:27 here. Interesting, now how did you think of that
12:32 ingredient that, that name I should say.
12:34 Ten Thousand Island. Ten Thousand, well.
12:36 yeah, I like that. I like Ten Thousand Island,
12:38 I've been trying to find one that needs to be healthier
12:41 and I had a problem actually finding
12:45 good ideas and good recipe, so I usually search
12:47 recipes and get ideas and then start to experiment,
12:51 but I said you know, when we find one we gonna make
12:53 sure it's healthier and even 10 times better,
12:56 so Ten Thousand better. That means Ten Thousand. Yes.
13:01 We added the chives and we added also parsley. Okay.
13:05 Now we gonna add the bell peppers.
13:07 This is our vitamins C component to this very,
13:10 very high in vitamin C. Higher than orange juice.
13:13 And by the way we use pimentos you can use
13:15 red bell pepper just chopped it up.
13:17 Oh! Okay. Yes, we took a brief shortcut,
13:20 onions. Let's add the onions.
13:24 Yes, onions are good for us, aren't they?
13:26 Yes, very good as well and along with garlic
13:29 they are very good for people that are hypertensive
13:32 or that have hypertension so I say, also
13:37 sea salt. Sea salt and capers. There is our caper.
13:44 There they are. Now what we gonna have to,
13:46 this is gonna start to change as we mix
13:48 because the, Excuse me Robin, sure,
13:51 the capers come chopped. No, they normally come to,
13:54 What does it look like? They look like little green balls,
13:57 almost like little green peas that sugared up the
13:59 little balls. The first time I saw this
14:02 Angy I was at a Italian restaurant in Chicago
14:05 and they served me with pasta on the side
14:07 and I went and did research and I said I'm gonna
14:10 learn how to make some dishes with that, I even,
14:12 I used them for the target sauce.
14:14 It gives it a nice tart taste and so,
14:17 you could put it in pasta. You can add on,
14:20 with the pasta on the side or not on the side but
14:23 in a dish. It won't give it a tart taste but again
14:26 the key is you definitely want to have a caper
14:30 that's soaked in lemon juice.
14:31 I cannot stress that enough. Okay, and lemon juice.
14:34 So, they are out there, but you have to look for them.
14:36 Yes. You just what mix it up? We just mix and mix
14:40 and mix and notice the thick. I like thick dressing.
14:43 This is definitely thick, and sometimes
14:47 I would scrape that elastic because you gonna
14:49 notice this gonna turn, it has like a pinkish little
14:52 reddish, yes, you to it, but also has lot of green in there
14:57 too so. That looks so good. And this is it,
14:59 this is it, and so simply serve from here.
15:01 Now can you put this on your salad? You can put,
15:04 definitely put this on a salad it
15:07 will enhance any salad for sure.
15:09 How about a dip? You can, I never used it for dip,
15:12 but I imagine there any application you can use
15:15 for 1,000 Island dressing. This will go well.
15:19 Wow! That's great. Alright, what we need to do is
15:23 move on to our next recipe, which is,
15:27 Our next recipe we called "Momma's Taco Salad"
15:31 and that consist of: 1 head of lettuce, sheredded
15:35 2 cups of pinto beans, cooked
15:38 2 cups of kidney beans, cooked
15:41 3 to 4 cups of any burger substitute of burger
15:45 crumbles substitute 1 medium onion, chopped
15:48 2 cups of tomatoes, chopped 1 cup of olives, sliced
15:54 4 cups of corn chips or broken tortilla chips
15:58 1/2 to 1 cup of salsa 2 cups of
16:03 Ten Thousand Island dressing or you could also use
16:07 1 cup of mayonnaise which is optional.
16:12 Okay, Momma's Taco Salad. Why Momma's Taco Salad?
16:16 Because this is my mother's recipe. Is it? Yes, it is.
16:20 Oh! My! My mother's recipe. This is gonna be a fun
16:23 recipe because what we use in this, all the,
16:27 all the ingredients we would, Yes, these are
16:29 ingredients that I made, of course, mayonnaise,
16:32 mayonnaise was not her and then there is, yeah,
16:34 some but we took what she, I had as a little boy.
16:37 I remember this is a boy, she should make this force
16:39 and so we decided to take it and transform into a
16:42 more healthier salad, yes and everyone loves salad.
16:45 They are light, they are quick.
16:46 This is a complete meal all by itself so.
16:49 Yes, the great summer meals, spring meal, you know.
16:51 Absolutely, Anytime meal. Yes, so. Okay,
16:55 where do we start now. We gonna start with just mixing,
16:57 now we've mentioned that the mayonnaise was optional.
16:59 I want to explain that, yes, please.
17:01 Basically if this was a regular 1,000 versus the
17:05 Ten Thousand Island dressing I would just say
17:08 the dressing would be fine because this is so
17:10 thick. I added a Mayo to it to thin it out.
17:14 Most 1,000 Island dressings are not this thick
17:17 and we want it a little thinner. So, the same base
17:22 that we use to make we just gonna add to it
17:24 and so that's like as an optional depending on
17:27 consistency. So we gonna add little bit more.
17:30 Little bit of mayo. Mixing up here. And you're mixing
17:33 the Ten Thousand Island dressing with the Mayo.
17:36 Yes. Okay. And so it just more,
17:38 it's a broader base because remember the Mayo went into,
17:41 that's right, the 1,000 Island dressing. Yes.
17:44 So, from there it's simple. We now go to this salad.
17:48 We gonna do put some lettuce on here and you will
17:51 notice. Let me make another mention a couple things;
17:54 no.1, we mix the beans together. The pinto beans
17:57 and the kidney beans go together as well
18:01 and also we gave the ingredients this would
18:04 feed a family normally but one thing you want to
18:06 mention or you need to know about the Taco salad is
18:10 only mix when you mix the wet ingredients with the dry
18:13 only mix what you going to eat for that day why
18:17 because when you mix it, it mix with the lettuce,
18:21 it gets softer for that day and so we want to only mix
18:24 what we are going to eat and so, for the demonstration
18:27 purposes we just want to mix a little and then you
18:30 and I will get to, I guess fight over
18:32 who is to eat this. Yeah.
18:34 But we gonna go from there, so we gonna go through
18:37 the little salad I mean little lettuce. By the way,
18:40 Now what kind of lettuce do you use?
18:42 I like to use raw and green leaf because they are
18:45 the healthier, however, for this Taco salad,
18:47 iceberg has the texture. It's a harder lettuce and so
18:51 what I did I mix the two together.
18:53 Oh! I still I don't wanna go all iceberg and give up
18:57 the, yes, normal use to have in my salad, but at the
19:00 same time I don't want to miss the texture that this
19:04 Taco salad gives because the crunch it all goes
19:07 in there, so we found the best of both we are so.
19:11 That's gonna go well. We can use corn chips
19:14 or we can also use, remember, it might be a
19:18 little easier. Yes. We said we could also use the
19:21 the broken tortilla chips, but traditionally this seems
19:25 to go over well with the Taco salad.
19:28 This gives a flavor. We gonna go ahead
19:31 and add our beans. I used one of these here.
19:35 Are beans good for you. Should not we be eaten
19:37 beans today? Oh! Yes, beans are good.
19:39 They are excellent for. They are very high in fiber.
19:42 They also held whole half something or they contain
19:46 something called L-arginine that makes it excellent
19:50 for high blood pressure or hypertension.
19:53 L-arginine what it does? When L-arginine gets into
19:56 the blood it converts to nitric oxide and when nitric
20:03 oxide is present in the blood it helps the arteries.
20:06 It causes the arteries to relax and then when that
20:09 happens the blood pressure comes down. Okay.
20:12 So beans are very high in the arginine, very good
20:15 for high blood pressure, also high in folic acid,
20:19 excellent for pregnant women, so that is something
20:22 as you said we will love to see in the diet everyday
20:25 or at least several 4 or 5 times a weeks if possible
20:28 so. In addition to the beans we gonna go ahead and add,
20:32 this is a very good crumbled that we've made
20:34 and we called this is our very own, 7 seasoning
20:37 Sauces Burger. 7 seasoning Now what do you mean
20:40 it's your very own? One of the recipes that are,
20:43 in the cookbook, yes, that we are coming out
20:45 with very shortly and so this would be there.
20:48 And this is, it's a vegetarian meat texture.
20:51 It's a vegan. Really. We wanna mix these to,
20:58 You just mix it up together. Yeah, mix it up together.
21:00 We gonna add more salad. In fact, let's go ahead
21:03 and add a little bit of everything, little onions
21:09 and depending on who is making it.
21:12 You may like a little more tomatoes
21:13 and I like little more salt to this burger. That's true.
21:17 But while we make like the olives.
21:19 Yeah, I tell you what a meal. You have to watch
21:23 children. Is everything, children like usually
21:25 little more corn chips. Yeah. But and then from here
21:29 what we simple gonna do we can add a little salsa,
21:33 what we made earlier. And which we made earlier
21:36 and then finally this is our dressing, if you will.
21:41 We gonna spread this on and actually what I want to
21:44 do we gonna mix this together. All of this goes
21:47 together. Now it's, let me ask you something
21:51 what about a little avocado or something with that.
21:55 Oh! I love avocado on this side, in fact,
21:57 I usually make this with avocado on the side.
22:00 It was not in the original recipe and since
22:03 I was calling that Mammo's. Brocomoli.
22:05 Yeah, when we were young we didn't know much about
22:06 avocado being from the Midwest, but when we make
22:10 it at our house it always avocado find just way right
22:14 into the scene here and so, yeah. You just stir it up.
22:19 You just mix it up here. We got a little bit on the
22:21 side, but that's okay. Oh! That.
22:25 And it is a complete meal. Yes, it is in one?
22:29 Now you wouldn't need to eat anything else
22:31 as you said? You really don't. There is raw food
22:34 here. There is fiber here. There is protein here
22:37 and after you eat this you don't feel sluggish,
22:41 you don't feel way down which typically happens
22:43 when you eat, you know, food Angy supposed to
22:45 build you up. Right. And often times we eat
22:48 and we feel sluggish and we feel worse then we did
22:51 before we even came to the dinner table.
22:53 So, this is definitely not something that's going to
22:55 happen with this particular meal. So, there is so much
22:59 going on here and I will probably need a bigger bowl
23:01 but you get the idea. It is all here, a meal in one.
23:06 And it's everything that we've made it's more
23:08 of a building meal. It's a building meal,
23:10 yes and so again excellent, I guarantee you no one
23:16 of the family will be disappointed when you
23:17 make this. We've never had a complained about this
23:20 Taco salad. Wow it makes in most Churches
23:23 we have fellowship lunch. And I tell you every Sabbath
23:27 at our Church we have fellowship lunch and I,
23:30 this will make a great, great dish to bring for your
23:34 fellowship lunch at your Church, so you want to
23:37 consider that as well as Sabbath afternoon meal.
23:41 And as you said it's all in one.
23:43 All in one. It's all there. Everything right in it
23:46 and it's, we are looking forward to try and this
23:48 afterwards. Well, we gonna do right now we gonna go
23:51 and take a break and when we come back we'll have
23:55 everything all laid out, all the recipes that
23:59 we made today and so you just stay tune.
24:02 Then we will be right back.

26:00 information. Now let's take a look
26:02 at our finished recipes with Robin.
26:15 Okay, Robin, what don't you share with us
26:17 what we just made today. Sure, we started with
26:19 a Salsa. All fresh ingredients,
26:22 nothing was cooked and so this is definitely a
26:24 health alternative to the regular sauces with vinegar
26:28 and the hot peppers and things of that nature.
26:30 We been went to the Mayonnaise with simple
26:34 ingredients, but a delicate beautiful flavor.
26:37 Then we took the mayonnaise and from there we made a
26:40 1,000 Island dressing which we called the
26:42 Ten Thousand Island dressing and from there
26:45 we took all these ingredients and combined them
26:47 to make a Taco Salsa which not only with this
26:51 we have a complete meal in one with the sausage
26:54 burger crumbles with the beans, the chips,
26:58 and whole Mayonnaise. That's right.
26:59 I tell you this is just wonderful.
27:02 It's a healthy and nutritious of course.
27:05 Very, very healthy you have everything you need to
27:08 especially the Taco Salad. I mentioned to you about
27:11 the beans. I can't over-emphasize
27:13 that enough about the idea of the beans and L-arginine.
27:18 Anything, any food with L-arginine in it,
27:20 it's gonna be excellent for high blood pressure.
27:23 Also note it's actually worth mentioning the pumpkins
27:28 seeds also very high in L-arginine
27:31 and again remember L-arginine it goes into
27:34 the blood and when it gets into the blood it causes
27:36 production of nitric oxide, nitric oxide
27:39 when it's present causes the pressure,
27:41 the blood vessels to relax, pressure comes down,
27:44 so definitely something you want to consider
27:47 when you putting your menus in diet together,
27:50 so we do have that and the beans in the Taco Salad.
27:55 Alright, Wow! We wanna you thank you for coming here
27:58 and sharing your time with us
27:59 and your wonderful recipes. Thank you for having me.
28:02 It was a pleasure. I had a great time.
28:04 Yes, and remember friends your faith has made
28:07 you hold. God bless you.
