Good, good. 00:01:04.30\00:01:08.38 Today we're gonna be making 00:01:08.41\00:01:09.78 breakfast foods, is that correct? 00:01:09.81\00:01:11.18 Yes. I've chosen waffles. Waffles. 00:01:11.21\00:01:13.80 Yes. Healthy waffles. 00:01:13.83\00:01:15.26 Healthy, delicious, marvelous, nutritious waffles. 00:01:15.29\00:01:19.32 And I like how you say that "marvelous" waffles. 00:01:19.35\00:01:21.85 Yes. Because your name is Marvella. 00:01:21.88\00:01:24.84 Well, well. 00:01:24.87\00:01:26.46 Okay, what we need to do is go to our recipe-- 00:01:26.49\00:01:29.25 Yes. On the screen which is for our waffles as you mentioned. 00:01:29.28\00:01:33.03 Okay, so honey or maple syrup. 00:01:51.80\00:01:53.97 Yes. That's good. 00:01:54.00\00:01:55.37 Just a bit of sweetness. 00:01:55.40\00:01:56.77 Okay, we got our blender ready. 00:01:56.80\00:01:58.53 It looks like an easy recipe, doesn't it? 00:01:58.56\00:02:01.35 It is very simple. Yeah. 00:02:01.38\00:02:03.41 And I always like to begin with my liquids in here 00:02:03.44\00:02:07.29 to make adding the dry ingredients a lot easier-- 00:02:07.32\00:02:10.30 Now how did you get this powdery? 00:02:10.33\00:02:12.44 That's my oatmeal that I ground in the blender. Right. 00:02:12.47\00:02:16.50 And my sunflower seeds which I ground also, 00:02:16.53\00:02:20.96 in order to make it easier for the blender to blend it 00:02:20.99\00:02:24.43 and to get into the waffle iron as quickly as possible. Okay. 00:02:24.46\00:02:28.93 So we will begin with our soy milk. 00:02:28.96\00:02:31.22 All right. 00:02:31.25\00:02:34.16 There we go. 00:02:34.19\00:02:35.56 And we want to place our banana here 00:02:35.59\00:02:39.02 and we try to make sure that our bananas are nice and ripe. 00:02:39.05\00:02:44.11 And this gives it a nice sweetness 00:02:44.14\00:02:47.14 and I like that banana flavor. 00:02:47.17\00:02:49.05 Yes. Yes. 00:02:49.08\00:02:50.45 And it reminds you of your muffins 00:02:50.48\00:02:52.18 and the banana nut gravy that you prepare. Oh, yes. 00:02:52.21\00:02:55.24 And we're going to add sea salt. 00:02:55.27\00:02:58.78 Now why do we use sea salt instead of regular salt? 00:02:58.81\00:03:01.11 Well, it's a natural sodium source 00:03:01.14\00:03:04.52 and as you know the sodium chloride 00:03:04.55\00:03:07.16 that we get in the store... Yes. 00:03:07.19\00:03:09.07 Has chemicals in it and the body does not utilize it 00:03:09.10\00:03:13.59 as it does natural sodium. 00:03:13.62\00:03:15.79 So we try to shy away 00:03:15.82\00:03:17.19 from too much of that sodium chloride. Okay. 00:03:17.22\00:03:20.02 We're gonna add our flavoring, which is the vanilla. 00:03:20.05\00:03:23.43 Okay. And put our honey in. 00:03:23.46\00:03:27.09 Give it that a little sweetness. 00:03:27.12\00:03:28.88 Yes. Yeah. 00:03:28.91\00:03:30.28 And these are really tasty. 00:03:30.31\00:03:31.99 You can eat them with out adding any toppings. 00:03:32.02\00:03:35.34 The waffles. Yes. 00:03:35.37\00:03:37.36 You may add some fruit toppings or a little maple syrup 00:03:37.39\00:03:40.20 if you like it but-- All right. 00:03:40.23\00:03:41.62 We eat them just as they are sometimes. Okay. 00:03:41.65\00:03:45.43 All right, we're going to just blend this just a little bit. 00:03:45.46\00:03:48.62 And then we're going to add our dry ingredients. 00:03:54.40\00:03:57.93 Now I'm going to add this slowly in just a little bit and blend. 00:03:57.96\00:04:03.53 Okay. 00:04:03.56\00:04:05.45 And that way it won't get so thick that you can't pour it 00:04:12.69\00:04:16.75 and you'd have to stir and dig around in the blender. 00:04:16.78\00:04:19.79 Because the blenders that they sell in the stores are-- 00:04:19.82\00:04:22.64 don't have that much power. 00:04:22.67\00:04:24.19 Yeah. So you don't want to get-- 00:04:24.22\00:04:25.59 They're not the industrial blenders. Right. 00:04:25.62\00:04:27.34 As you can see, this is beginning to thicken little bit. 00:04:31.09\00:04:33.03 Yes, it is. I noticed. 00:04:33.06\00:04:34.79 So that we get it in the iron, 00:04:34.82\00:04:37.19 that will be just the right texture of waffle that we get. 00:04:37.22\00:04:42.45 Now we're going to add our sunflower seeds. 00:04:47.06\00:04:50.22 And you see this is not taking much time at all. 00:04:50.25\00:04:52.17 No, it isn't. It really isn't. 00:04:52.20\00:04:54.33 So whether you like waffles on Wednesday morning 00:04:54.36\00:04:56.96 or Sunday morning when you have-- 00:04:56.99\00:04:58.84 we call it a country style breakfast in the south. 00:04:58.87\00:05:01.44 You can do it quick, fast and in a hurry. Yeah. 00:05:04.93\00:05:08.00 Most people are in a hurry just to get out but-- 00:05:08.03\00:05:10.80 get out the house but you could have a nutritious meal. 00:05:10.83\00:05:13.36 Absolutely. And also you can make enough waffles 00:05:13.39\00:05:17.01 that you can freeze them. 00:05:17.04\00:05:18.41 Oh, very good. Okay, so the last blend. 00:05:18.44\00:05:21.96 A good strong blend there. 00:05:31.55\00:05:33.15 Yes, put that on the high power. Yes. 00:05:33.18\00:05:35.76 And as you can see, it's liquid enough to pour. Right. 00:05:35.79\00:05:41.80 One thing, once this sits, it begins to thicken. Okay. 00:05:41.83\00:05:45.85 So after we do the first four waffles, 00:05:45.88\00:05:49.31 you notice that the mixture is just a little bit thick. 00:05:49.34\00:05:52.98 But you don't add any more liquid to it. 00:05:53.01\00:05:54.91 If you just blend it a little bit or just stir it, 00:05:54.94\00:05:57.34 you'll see that you'll still get the same waffles. 00:05:57.37\00:05:59.81 Now you can see my iron is hot. Nice and hot. 00:05:59.84\00:06:02.10 And I'm just gonna spray it a little bit 00:06:02.13\00:06:03.89 to prevent it from sticking. 00:06:03.92\00:06:05.32 This is a stainless steel iron 00:06:05.35\00:06:07.14 and you can see it has been quite well used. 00:06:07.17\00:06:09.40 Yes, it looks like you've had it a while. 00:06:09.43\00:06:11.52 It's been passed down. 00:06:11.55\00:06:13.22 Good strong one. Yes. 00:06:13.25\00:06:15.01 And so we're going to just make sure this is all blended. 00:06:15.04\00:06:18.44 Okay. And we see that it is. 00:06:18.47\00:06:20.43 Yes, it is. And we're going to slowly just pour it into iron. 00:06:20.46\00:06:24.52 Make four waffles at one time. At one time. 00:06:24.55\00:06:27.65 You don't find very many of these...No. 00:06:27.68\00:06:31.35 So you see just it kind of smoothes in... 00:06:31.38\00:06:33.74 And the fat that's in the sunflower seeds give you 00:06:33.77\00:06:37.84 just enough fat to make the waffle have a good texture, 00:06:37.87\00:06:44.79 so that they won't be tough. 00:06:44.82\00:06:46.68 The oatmeal is very light 00:06:46.71\00:06:48.54 so you don't get that heaviness-- 00:06:48.57\00:06:50.24 Good to know. 00:06:50.27\00:06:51.64 That you get when you make the whole wheat waffles. 00:06:51.67\00:06:54.93 And the cooking time is short. 00:06:54.96\00:06:58.16 We're going to cook these for about 7 minutes. 00:06:58.19\00:07:01.65 Oh, that's nice. 7 minutes. 00:07:01.68\00:07:03.69 The second round you wanna cook in maybe about 6 minutes 00:07:03.72\00:07:07.04 because the iron is already good and hot. Okay? 00:07:07.07\00:07:10.49 So we're gonna put the timer on for 7 minutes 00:07:10.52\00:07:13.72 and then we gonna come back 00:07:13.75\00:07:15.15 and we gonna have perfect waffles. 00:07:15.18\00:07:16.99 Oh, my. So you set the timer. 00:07:17.02\00:07:19.30 Yes. And I'm gonna close the iron. 00:07:19.33\00:07:23.67 Then shortly we'll have waffles. 00:07:23.70\00:07:25.47 All right. All right. 00:07:25.50\00:07:27.46 Okay. And what we can show is a readymade one, too. 00:07:27.49\00:07:30.82 Very good. We have some right here to share with you. 00:07:30.85\00:07:36.22 How about this? 00:07:36.25\00:07:39.61 Looks delicious. Can you smell them? 00:07:39.64\00:07:41.98 Yes. Get some-- 00:07:42.01\00:07:44.78 Now can you make your waffles-- 00:07:44.81\00:07:46.48 like, say you don't want banana, 00:07:46.51\00:07:47.88 you want strawberries or blueberries? 00:07:47.91\00:07:51.56 You can substitute-- 00:07:51.59\00:07:52.96 Now remember, the strawberries 00:07:52.99\00:07:54.36 have a bit more liquid in them than the banana. 00:07:54.39\00:07:57.85 Okay. So if you use fruit that's moist-- 00:07:57.88\00:08:02.17 Yes. Then you want to use just a little bit less milk. 00:08:02.20\00:08:05.84 Okay. Because you don't want your waffles too thin. 00:08:05.87\00:08:08.38 That's true. You want them to have some type of, 00:08:08.41\00:08:10.40 you know, good substance. 00:08:10.43\00:08:11.86 Yeah. And you have to make your waffles just right. 00:08:11.89\00:08:14.10 Just right, that's the key. 00:08:14.13\00:08:16.31 And so I've timed this. 00:08:16.34\00:08:18.56 I've got the setting just where I need it, on medium high. 00:08:18.59\00:08:22.21 All right. So that the waffles will come out just brown. 00:08:22.24\00:08:25.24 I like mine kind of brown and toasty. 00:08:25.27\00:08:26.98 Some people like them lighter and some darker. 00:08:27.01\00:08:30.17 So it just depends on your preference. 00:08:30.20\00:08:32.80 That's true. Okay. 00:08:32.83\00:08:34.76 What we need to do is move right on to our next recipe, 00:08:34.79\00:08:39.33 which is gonna be the scrambled tofu. 00:08:39.36\00:08:41.62 Okay. Now before we move on, 00:09:14.62\00:09:16.72 Marvella, I have a quick question to ask you. 00:09:16.75\00:09:19.26 Why do we use African cayenne pepper? 00:09:19.29\00:09:23.51 Why do you use that? African bird. 00:09:23.54\00:09:25.03 Bird, yes. It is probably the most potent pepper 00:09:25.06\00:09:29.88 there is, and is excellent-- 00:09:29.91\00:09:31.99 has excellent medicinal qualities. Okay. 00:09:32.02\00:09:34.96 Good for the blood circulation, good for the heart. 00:09:34.99\00:09:38.84 It really stimulates the blood to flow. 00:09:38.87\00:09:42.83 And is excellent even for ulcers. Really? 00:09:42.86\00:09:48.29 I use it for cold feet, externally, 00:09:48.32\00:09:51.63 put a little bit in some juice. 00:09:51.66\00:09:54.11 It's good for colds. And what it does is, 00:09:54.14\00:09:56.97 kind of helps the blood to rush through the body 00:09:57.00\00:10:00.00 so that any mucus and phlegm and any congestion, 00:10:00.03\00:10:05.36 it kind of causes it to dissipate. 00:10:05.39\00:10:08.12 And you get that at the health store? 00:10:08.15\00:10:10.28 Any health food store. 00:10:10.31\00:10:11.68 Okay, okay. All right. 00:10:11.71\00:10:13.25 I just thought that I'd get that question out the way. 00:10:13.28\00:10:15.59 Now let's move into our tofu scrambles. 00:10:15.62\00:10:18.15 All right. Where do we start? 00:10:18.18\00:10:20.67 We're gonna start with our tofu and...Yes. 00:10:20.70\00:10:24.96 Those who didn't listen to our other show, 00:10:24.99\00:10:29.68 we talked a little bit about using the firm. Yes. 00:10:29.71\00:10:32.77 And we use it for recipes that we need to have really, 00:10:32.80\00:10:39.26 I guess, more firm consistency. Yeah. 00:10:39.29\00:10:43.84 And so we have the firm and we've already drained it. 00:10:43.87\00:10:47.27 Oh, good. And what I like to do is just put my onions... 00:10:47.30\00:10:51.43 Yes. And my peppers and my-- 00:10:51.46\00:10:57.59 a little soy sauce in here to saute it just a bit. 00:10:57.62\00:11:04.14 And that way you don't need any oil. 00:11:04.17\00:11:06.58 Oh, that's interesting. 00:11:06.61\00:11:09.93 So you don't use any oil or sprays or anything? 00:11:09.96\00:11:13.27 And you see how that sautés quite well. 00:11:13.30\00:11:15.60 Yeah, and it smells quite well too. 00:11:15.63\00:11:19.30 And we just sauté that a little bit 00:11:19.33\00:11:22.82 to just soften the peppers. 00:11:22.85\00:11:26.32 And we like to add a lot of red-- 00:11:26.35\00:11:29.28 Yes, I love that color. 00:11:29.31\00:11:30.68 For the color, it gives great appeal. 00:11:30.71\00:11:32.48 Then we're going to take our tofu... 00:11:32.51\00:11:34.66 Okay. Now you may dice this if you like it diced. 00:11:34.69\00:11:39.52 But we're gonna do scrambled tofu. Okay. 00:11:39.55\00:11:41.61 And so we're gonna place it in our dish 00:11:41.64\00:11:44.01 and you can do this in any skillet, 00:11:44.04\00:11:45.62 you don't have to use an electric skillet. Oh, okay. 00:11:45.65\00:11:48.13 And we're gonna take the fork or you may use a potato masher-- 00:11:48.16\00:11:51.70 Oh, yes. And just mash the tofu in the skillet, 00:11:51.73\00:11:56.13 until you chop down this block. 00:11:56.16\00:12:00.51 And this is like scrambled eggs. 00:12:00.54\00:12:02.58 Yes. Yeah. 00:12:02.61\00:12:04.94 And--as you can smell, it has a wonderful aroma. 00:12:04.97\00:12:08.64 Aroma's great. Yes. 00:12:08.67\00:12:10.72 You may add fresh garlic, you may add leeks to this. 00:12:10.75\00:12:15.40 I've added leeks, chopped leeks. Really? Okay. 00:12:15.43\00:12:18.85 And it changes the flavor just slightly 00:12:18.88\00:12:22.90 but it's still just delicious. 00:12:22.93\00:12:26.56 Just mash them up together. Just mash them up together. 00:12:26.59\00:12:30.02 And once we get it all mashed, we want to mix it. Okay. 00:12:30.05\00:12:34.09 Oh, boy. We're going to add our remaining soy sauce. 00:12:36.45\00:12:42.69 You may add more soy sauce to suit your taste. Okay. 00:12:42.72\00:12:49.30 And mix it well and then we're going 00:12:49.33\00:12:51.24 to place our other ingredients here. 00:12:51.27\00:12:53.29 Oh. All right, this is our nutritional yeast. 00:12:53.32\00:12:56.38 Nutritional yeast. I just learned to use that and it is-- 00:12:56.41\00:12:59.44 Isn't it wonderful? Wonderful. 00:12:59.47\00:13:00.95 Yes. 00:13:00.98\00:13:02.80 Look at that great color. 00:13:02.83\00:13:05.06 Oh, yeah. And garlic and onion powder. 00:13:05.09\00:13:09.35 And when you get used to doing this, you can kind of-- 00:13:09.38\00:13:11.85 I see, you are used to this. 00:13:11.88\00:13:13.25 Without even measuring, you know what you're doing. 00:13:13.28\00:13:15.01 Look at you. For those of you who like a little extra kick. 00:13:15.04\00:13:17.76 Yeah, I like it just-- Just put a little bit in there 00:13:17.79\00:13:20.47 and then we scramble it. Beautiful. 00:13:20.50\00:13:25.18 And what's so wonderful about this recipe is, 00:13:25.21\00:13:27.72 it does not take much time at all. 00:13:27.75\00:13:29.93 No, it doesn't. We're finished. 00:13:29.96\00:13:32.59 And you may let it simmer as long as you want. 00:13:32.62\00:13:34.70 Now some tofu you may purchase 00:13:34.73\00:13:36.53 may have a little bit more water than others. Yes. 00:13:36.56\00:13:39.53 And so you may have to simmer it a little longer. Okay. 00:13:39.56\00:13:42.78 Because you want it to dry out, as I like mine. 00:13:42.81\00:13:46.91 Oh, yeah. I noticed. 00:13:46.94\00:13:48.41 You see that? Yeah, yeah. 00:13:48.44\00:13:50.46 And so you don't want it watery. 00:13:50.49\00:13:52.11 If we cover this, because this skillet has a cover, 00:13:52.14\00:13:55.33 if you cover it, what happens, 00:13:55.36\00:13:57.48 it extracts the water from the tofu 00:13:57.51\00:13:59.94 and it makes your dish a little bit soggy. 00:13:59.97\00:14:02.96 Okay, okay. So if you want it with more moisture-- 00:14:02.99\00:14:05.98 Yeah. Cover it. 00:14:06.01\00:14:07.38 Because some people like their eggs real soggy, 00:14:07.41\00:14:09.15 and this our egg alternate. 00:14:09.18\00:14:12.03 But if you like it dry, then you leave it uncovered. 00:14:12.06\00:14:15.76 And that's with any dish. 00:14:15.79\00:14:17.60 That's why when we stir fry, 00:14:17.63\00:14:19.55 if I just heat it, put in my veggies and cover it, 00:14:19.58\00:14:22.88 it extracts the water and then it's-- 00:14:22.91\00:14:25.52 in no time at all is ready. 00:14:25.55\00:14:27.17 And so you see? We're all finished. 00:14:27.20\00:14:29.30 Look at that. Isn't it lovely? 00:14:29.33\00:14:31.11 Oh my. Smells good, doesn't it? 00:14:31.14\00:14:32.86 And it does smell wonderful. 00:14:32.89\00:14:35.00 Now I'm gonna do something. I'm gonna taste this. 00:14:35.03\00:14:38.01 Wow. Is that okay? 00:14:38.04\00:14:39.73 Help yourself. Okay. 00:14:39.76\00:14:42.13 I'm gonna have a little taste. 00:14:42.16\00:14:44.16 Now it's hot. It's hot, yeah. 00:14:44.19\00:14:46.78 See how it tastes. Here goes. 00:14:46.81\00:14:49.31 Oh, my. Marvelous. 00:14:53.25\00:14:56.32 It is very marvelous. Wonderful, I like that flavor. 00:14:56.35\00:15:01.31 Isn't it unique? And you know, that yeast-- 00:15:01.34\00:15:04.07 that nutritional yeast, I taste that. 00:15:04.10\00:15:06.77 I put that in popcorn. 00:15:06.80\00:15:08.17 Yes, that's excellent in popcorn. 00:15:08.20\00:15:09.87 Now do you use toast with this or what? 00:15:09.90\00:15:13.84 Yes, sometimes I use it in pita bread. 00:15:13.87\00:15:16.37 You can take-- Oh, yes. 00:15:16.40\00:15:17.77 Yeah. A whole wheat pita bread and stuff it. 00:15:17.80\00:15:20.05 You can use it over rice, 00:15:20.08\00:15:22.26 you can use it with mixed vegetables. 00:15:22.29\00:15:24.44 That's right. Millet. 00:15:24.47\00:15:26.37 Yes. You can make a loaf and put a sauce over it. 00:15:26.40\00:15:30.47 You can make this like patties-- That's right. 00:15:30.50\00:15:32.90 Burgers. Wow. 00:15:32.93\00:15:34.62 And you already have a ready done tofu scramble, don't you? 00:15:34.65\00:15:39.26 Absolutely. And you can use it 00:15:39.29\00:15:41.31 as a side dish with your waffles. 00:15:41.34\00:15:42.95 There you go. Pass that dish over here. 00:15:42.98\00:15:44.65 Okay. 00:15:44.68\00:15:47.07 Here is a one ready-- a dish that's ready, 00:15:47.10\00:15:51.20 it's ready to go, ready to eat. 00:15:51.23\00:15:52.60 It's in this nice little container. 00:15:52.63\00:15:55.21 And I want to thank you, Marvella, for this. 00:15:55.24\00:15:57.61 And what we need to do is move on to our next recipe 00:15:57.64\00:16:02.10 which is gonna be another wonderful treat for you, 00:16:02.13\00:16:05.42 who love your break fast food. 00:16:05.45\00:16:06.82 And it's gonna be our oatmeal cookies. 00:16:06.85\00:16:08.58 Okay. Now this is a nice healthy oatmeal raisin cookie, 00:16:39.34\00:16:43.73 I would call it. Actually more than raisins. 00:16:43.76\00:16:46.73 Yeah. Does have nuts and all that, 00:16:46.76\00:16:48.86 all that wonderful stuff for your body. 00:16:48.89\00:16:51.44 So where do we start from here? 00:16:51.47\00:16:53.08 We're going to first take our oatmeal, 00:16:53.11\00:16:55.79 and as you can see, I've ground this. 00:16:55.82\00:16:57.42 Yes, yes. Now you don't have to grind it. 00:16:57.45\00:17:00.53 Okay. You can just use the old fashioned oats as they are. 00:17:00.56\00:17:04.32 Oh. And I'd get the whole grain oats. 00:17:04.35\00:17:07.77 You may also use the quick oats 00:17:07.80\00:17:11.59 but it gives it a bit-- different bit of texture. 00:17:11.62\00:17:14.85 Oh, it does. Yes, it softens-- 00:17:14.88\00:17:17.23 it's softer and not as, I'll say grainy. 00:17:17.26\00:17:20.97 Right, right. And then not as heavy as the old fashioned. 00:17:21.00\00:17:22.80 And what kind is this? 00:17:22.83\00:17:24.20 These are the old fashioned oats. 00:17:24.23\00:17:25.82 And I've ground them 00:17:25.85\00:17:27.25 so they can give it a nice smooth texture. Yes. 00:17:27.28\00:17:30.68 So we're going to place these into our mixing bowl 00:17:30.71\00:17:36.12 and we're going to add all of our dry ingredients. 00:17:36.15\00:17:38.78 Here's the nuts. Dump. 00:17:38.81\00:17:40.18 Dump? 00:17:40.21\00:17:41.73 Dump. 00:17:41.76\00:17:44.55 Dump. And our salt. 00:17:44.58\00:17:47.66 Okay. Another dump. 00:17:47.69\00:17:49.70 And our coconut. Oh, the coconut? 00:17:49.73\00:17:52.18 Wait a minute. 00:17:52.21\00:17:53.58 What did you do to the coconut? 00:17:53.61\00:17:54.98 Now this is already shredded. 00:17:55.01\00:17:57.00 It looks like it's just-- just powdery. 00:17:57.03\00:18:00.37 Yes, it's fine. Now did you shred that? 00:18:00.40\00:18:02.50 No, I didn't. I purchased it shredded like this. 00:18:02.53\00:18:06.13 Okay. You can get this or you can get them flakes. 00:18:06.16\00:18:08.49 I'm so used of the flakes, maybe that's why. 00:18:08.52\00:18:09.92 Yes. So it's just whatever your preference. 00:18:09.95\00:18:12.44 You may use the flakes. Yes. 00:18:12.47\00:18:14.49 And we're going to mix all of the dry ingredients really well. 00:18:14.52\00:18:22.49 And then we're going to take our liquid ingredients. 00:18:22.52\00:18:27.60 Oh, yeah. And we're gonna place them all in this bowl. 00:18:27.63\00:18:31.02 Oh, separately. Separately. 00:18:31.05\00:18:33.20 Okay. 00:18:33.23\00:18:35.73 Oh, is that the coconut milk? This is the coconut milk. 00:18:35.76\00:18:39.10 They also have low fat coconut milk. 00:18:39.13\00:18:40.92 Yes, you can get the light. 00:18:40.95\00:18:42.45 Now the light-- if you use the light, 00:18:42.48\00:18:45.49 you may find that it won't be as soft and moist. 00:18:45.52\00:18:50.65 Okay, okay. Because of the fat content. 00:18:50.68\00:18:53.16 Okay, okay. I see. 00:18:53.19\00:18:54.56 Now what did you just put in here real quick? 00:18:54.59\00:18:55.96 That's the maple syrup. Okay, okay. 00:18:55.99\00:18:57.87 And this is the honey. Okay. 00:18:57.90\00:19:00.63 All right? And then we're going to add our vanilla flavoring. 00:19:00.66\00:19:07.41 And our last ingredient-- and this optional. 00:19:07.44\00:19:11.55 You can add this to the dry ingredients or to the liquid. 00:19:11.58\00:19:14.75 It's not very much, it's the coriander. Okay. 00:19:14.78\00:19:17.57 Similar to cinnamon but not as strong, 00:19:17.60\00:19:20.62 and its spice is real gentle on the system. 00:19:20.65\00:19:25.09 Some spices irritate the system, like-- 00:19:25.12\00:19:26.98 Yes. Cinnamon and some others. 00:19:27.01\00:19:30.32 But once we pour all of this in together, 00:19:30.35\00:19:33.91 we want to mix it really well. 00:19:33.94\00:19:36.01 And what it does is, 00:19:36.04\00:19:37.64 makes mixing all of the ingredients a lot easier. 00:19:37.67\00:19:42.81 Okay. Has a nice aroma to it. 00:19:42.84\00:19:46.35 Yes, it does. Very nice. 00:19:46.38\00:19:48.37 And you'll have cookies better than store bought. Wow. 00:19:48.40\00:19:52.60 Now tell me something, 00:19:52.63\00:19:54.00 can you use a hand mixer for this? 00:19:54.03\00:19:55.77 Or is it better to use a spoon to mix? 00:19:55.80\00:19:57.48 You can. But by the time I get that out and set it up. 00:19:57.51\00:20:00.31 Okay, yeah. 00:20:00.34\00:20:01.71 I finished. Yeah. 00:20:01.74\00:20:03.11 And the cleaning is a lot easier. Yeah. 00:20:03.14\00:20:07.25 All right, so we're gonna pour this right here in the center. 00:20:07.28\00:20:11.77 See that? Make sure you get all the scrapings. 00:20:11.80\00:20:15.31 Now why not pour it all over? 00:20:15.34\00:20:17.87 You just pour it in the center so you could mix it? 00:20:17.90\00:20:19.58 Yeah, to just mix it a little at a time 00:20:19.61\00:20:21.33 because there's quite a bit of dry ingredients. 00:20:21.36\00:20:24.55 And so you wanna kind of smooth 00:20:24.58\00:20:26.04 and then you don't want to hurt yourself. 00:20:26.07\00:20:30.34 Now once again, can you use a hand mixer for all of this? 00:20:30.37\00:20:33.30 You can use a hand-- yes. 00:20:33.33\00:20:34.80 Cakes and cookies because the granules are so small. 00:20:34.83\00:20:40.66 Okay. I have a kitchen aid at home. 00:20:40.69\00:20:42.75 Okay. Now that would be nice to use too. 00:20:42.78\00:20:45.20 Now you see? Look at that, moist and nice. 00:20:45.23\00:20:49.13 And we did not use any oil. Oh. 00:20:49.16\00:20:51.85 Well, we had natural oil in your foods. 00:20:51.88\00:20:53.56 Your nuts, your seeds-- Yes. 00:20:53.59\00:20:56.19 Your coconuts, all of those have natural fats, 00:20:56.22\00:20:58.71 so you get some fat in the diet. Okay. 00:20:58.74\00:21:01.26 But the free fat is what causes us to us kind of, 00:21:01.29\00:21:04.56 you know-- Right. 00:21:04.59\00:21:05.96 Expand when we don't want to. And so it's a lot healthier. 00:21:05.99\00:21:10.79 And then desserts are not something 00:21:10.82\00:21:13.85 that you eat every day. 00:21:13.88\00:21:15.54 No, no. Okay? 00:21:15.57\00:21:17.46 There's an occasion for them. Desserts, are they for Sabbath? 00:21:17.49\00:21:19.73 Yes, I like to have a treat for Sabbath. Yes, yes. 00:21:19.76\00:21:22.50 Everybody enjoys that. Everyone does. 00:21:22.53\00:21:24.01 It makes the Sabbath a little special, you know? 00:21:24.04\00:21:26.88 So we've mixed this, as you can see, good texture. 00:21:26.91\00:21:30.90 Very good. Yes, the texture is good. 00:21:30.93\00:21:32.30 And it makes very easy to drop them onto your cookie sheet. 00:21:32.33\00:21:36.66 Now the dish, as I stated before, 00:21:36.69\00:21:41.49 we heat our dishes. Oh, yes. 00:21:41.52\00:21:43.53 And when we heat them, 00:21:43.56\00:21:44.93 it makes it easy to remove the cookie after it's baked. 00:21:44.96\00:21:49.51 Okay. Without using quite a bit of oil. 00:21:49.54\00:21:51.84 Okay. Okay, and remember the cookie has some fat. 00:21:51.87\00:21:54.53 So it's just-- simply you just take some 00:21:54.56\00:21:56.77 and you just drop them onto the dish. Right. 00:21:56.80\00:21:59.09 You can make them as large or small as you like. Okay. 00:21:59.12\00:22:02.83 We make them small so that it will make it 00:22:02.86\00:22:05.53 seem like you're getting a lot. Yeah. 00:22:05.56\00:22:07.54 When you make them big, 00:22:07.57\00:22:10.07 you like overeat and we don't want that to happen. 00:22:10.10\00:22:12.60 No, no, no. So you see how simple, 00:22:12.63\00:22:15.21 even the children can make these. Yes. 00:22:15.24\00:22:17.86 And it won't take much time 00:22:17.89\00:22:20.18 and they'll have a nice little healthy treat. Exactly. 00:22:20.21\00:22:23.96 Now you may choose not to use raisins 00:22:23.99\00:22:26.73 because some people don't care for raisins in their desserts. 00:22:26.76\00:22:30.78 But that's strictly up to you. 00:22:30.81\00:22:34.24 And this makes-- it depends on what size-- 00:22:34.27\00:22:36.76 Right. It makes a couple of dozen of cookies. 00:22:36.79\00:22:39.33 Okay? All right. 00:22:39.36\00:22:41.95 You just put that in. 00:22:41.98\00:22:43.99 And then we're gonna bake this for about 10 to 12 minutes. 00:22:44.02\00:22:48.90 And hopefully you'll have-- 00:22:48.93\00:22:52.01 when you're familiar with your oven, 00:22:52.04\00:22:54.36 you know whether or not to leave them in. 00:22:54.39\00:22:56.76 Exactly. Any longer than that. 00:22:56.79\00:22:58.54 So I generally say anywhere from 12 to 15 minutes. 00:22:58.57\00:23:03.02 These should bake up nicely. Okay. Okay. 00:23:03.05\00:23:06.85 Well, once you put it in the oven-- 00:23:06.88\00:23:09.31 Put them in the oven. What temperature? 00:23:09.34\00:23:12.18 375. Okay. 00:23:12.21\00:23:14.73 For about 10 minutes. 00:23:14.76\00:23:16.13 10 to 12, may be 15 minutes depending on your oven. 00:23:16.16\00:23:19.35 And you take it out of the oven, 00:23:19.38\00:23:20.75 which we're going to do. Here we go. 00:23:20.78\00:23:22.15 And we remove them. Doesn't come in the dish. 00:23:22.18\00:23:25.24 No, we have some nice cookies. Yes. 00:23:25.27\00:23:28.11 Some if you want-- I like mine nice and toasty. 00:23:28.14\00:23:30.42 Yes. Some may prefer them a little lighter. 00:23:30.45\00:23:32.89 Yeah. So whatever your choice and they're very delicious. 00:23:32.92\00:23:36.29 And once again, can you use cranberries 00:23:36.32\00:23:38.27 or another type of... You can use any fruit you want. 00:23:38.30\00:23:42.18 Okay. But cranberries unlike raisins, 00:23:42.21\00:23:45.28 have a bit more moisture. 00:23:45.31\00:23:46.85 Raisins are dried fruit.
