God is love! 00:23 Hi boys and girls, 00:25 have you ever heard the expression 00:26 it's time to wave the white flag. 00:29 Do you know what that means? 00:30 Well, in years past 00:32 when two armies fought against each other 00:34 and one army realized it just couldn't win, 00:37 it would hold up a plain white flag. 00:40 Waving the white flag meant I surrender 00:43 and the surrendering army would submit to the power 00:46 and the control of the other army 00:47 and the war would be over. 00:50 Surrendering was one way to loose a war 00:52 without being completely destroyed. 00:55 And waving the white flag was sort of like saying, 00:58 okay you win, we loose. 01:01 I've heard sermons about how important it is 01:03 to surrender to Jesus, 01:05 but what is that actually mean? 01:08 Are we in a battle against Jesus 01:09 and sometimes we have to just accept defeat 01:12 and say okay Jesus you win, I loose. 01:15 Some people think that's what it means. 01:18 And sadly we really can't act 01:20 like enemies of Jesus sometimes. 01:23 But our real battle is with the devil 01:25 and his powers of darkness that are fighting 01:28 for the ownership of our hearts. 01:30 And if we try to fight that battle on our own, 01:33 we're going to loose every time. 01:35 And we're going to have to end up 01:36 surrendering our lives to evil 01:38 with terrible consequences including eternal death. 01:43 Jesus wants to fight the battle 01:45 for us not against us. 01:47 And when we surrender to Him, 01:48 we're really saying, Jesus I know you are stronger 01:53 and wiser than I am. 01:55 Please help me fight this battle against evil. 01:58 The Bible promises in Philippians 4:13 02:02 that we can do all things 02:04 through Christ who strengthens us. 02:07 You know, I want to stop here boys and girls, 02:09 and I want you to go get your Bibles. 02:10 I want you to read that text again with me 02:12 and I want you to underline it. 02:14 It's Miss Brenda's favorite text in the whole Bible. 02:17 It says Philippians 4:13, I can do how much? 02:22 Just a little bit. 02:23 No, it says "I can do all things 02:26 through Christ which strengthen me." 02:28 I just love that text, don't you? 02:30 But without God, we can do nothing. 02:34 Surrendering to Jesus 02:36 is simply recognizing our weakness 02:38 and deciding it's a lot smarter 02:39 to trust Him to win the battle for us. 02:43 So pick up your white flags boys and girls, 02:45 say Jesus I surrender my life to you 02:49 and I trust you with all of my battles. 03:16 I believe in you I believe you love me
