many years ago a
tiny baby was born in a

beehive shaped grass
hut in Southwest Uganda.

And his parents named him Festo.

Now Festo's tribe,

they raised cattle in
lion country and worshiped
00:00:37.25\00:00:40.23
many different kinds of spirits.

And Festo later said

long before the
missionaries came to Africa,

my people knew there was a God.

And we wanted Him
and we desired Him.

We knew He was the creator
and so we try to worship Him.

But they didn't
know how to do that.

So when little Festo
was about ten-years-old,

a Christian
missionary came to his village.

And that missionary
taught him how to read

and taught him how to
write and eventually Festo

went to high
school and then college.

And when he was older
he became a Christian,

all because he met some
very humble loving Christians.

Now in the 1970s and 80s

a very mean, violent
dictator name Idi Amin,

he killed as many as
00:01:26.74\00:01:27.95
three hundred thousand Ugandans
00:01:27.96\00:01:30.47
in an effort to gain power.
00:01:30.48\00:01:32.42
And he especially tried
to kill all the Christians,
00:01:32.43\00:01:35.52
but fortunately the
church remained strong in Uganda
00:01:35.53\00:01:38.34
even though many Christians
died during that time.
00:01:38.35\00:01:41.43
And when Festo found out that
Idi Amin wanted to kill him.
00:01:41.44\00:01:45.39
Festo and his
wife fled the country
00:01:45.40\00:01:47.43
leaving behind
all the belongings,
00:01:47.44\00:01:49.19
they couldn't take
anything with them.
00:01:49.20\00:01:50.64
Festo later wrote about
his experiences in a book.

Now this will surprise
you because you might think

that Festo wrote about
what an evil horrible man

Idi Amin was and how
he ought to be killed

book called I love Idi Amin.

on the cross Jesus said,

how his love for Jesus,
