00:03 It's time to share
00:04 There's a world out there 00:06 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:09 It's time to share 00:11 There's a world out there 00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time 00:26 Hello, and welcome 00:27 to our Kids Time Holiday Special. 00:29 We're here at Great Lakes Adventist Academy 00:31 in Cedar Lake, Michigan. 00:32 And I'm telling you we're really enjoying visiting 00:34 with the academy students and the faculty. 00:37 They've been really, really helpful. 00:38 In fact, if you look closely during our Bible story today, 00:41 you will see many of the students 00:42 that are members of the gymnastics team, 00:44 the aeros and also their coach. 00:47 I'm so glad you've joined us for this program, 00:49 celebrating the birth of Christ. 00:51 You know, this time of year, we especially like to remember 00:54 what a precious and wonderful gift 00:56 God gave to each of us 00:58 when He gave us His only son Jesus. 01:01 Now did you know the angels were there 01:04 when Jesus was born? 01:05 And they were so happy that they sang songs of praise 01:09 and they gave God glory to God in the highest. 01:11 Well, you know what? 01:12 We don't really know what angels look like, do we? 01:15 But this is what some people think 01:17 an angel might look like. 01:18 Isn't this angel beautiful? 01:20 Well, did you know 01:21 that angels have feelings like we do? 01:23 That's right. 01:24 They get excited, and they get happy, 01:27 and they also love, and they care about us. 01:30 In today's Bible story, 01:31 you're going to hear about angels 01:33 that were very sad. 01:34 That's right, they were sad because... 01:38 Well, I better not say anything more, 01:41 you're going to have to wait and find out 01:42 when you hear our Bible story today. 01:44 But first, I want to see what Ranger Jim has brought us. 01:47 I'm so happy that Ranger Jim's with us. 01:49 And, you know what, 01:51 I always learn so much about nature 01:52 when Ranger Jim is around. 01:54 And nature, you know, is God's second book. 01:56 Ranger Jim, what do you have to show us? 01:59 Well, welcome, boys and girls, 02:00 we're glad that you can join us today on Nature Time. 02:03 I have a new friend. 02:04 This is my friend Randy 02:05 and he has brought a pet tonight. 02:07 Randy, what is this? 02:08 This is a black-footed ferret. 02:10 And what's his name? 02:12 Joey. Joey. 02:13 And how old is Joey? 02:16 About six. 02:17 He is almost as old as you are. 02:20 Since you were a little boy early way 02:21 you've had him around. 02:23 And I always ask, boys and girls, 02:24 what does he like to eat? 02:27 He likes to eat cat food. 02:28 He likes cat food. Okay. 02:31 Boys and girls, ferrets are very, very popular 02:34 as pets in the US. 02:36 Most people are amazed when I tell them 02:38 that ferrets are only third in line 02:40 behind dogs and cats as pets. 02:43 Did you realize that more than 10.5 million ferrets 02:47 are pets in America? 02:48 They're legal in almost every state, 02:50 there is one I believe Hawaii still has rules against that 02:54 and some people have feared the monkeypox 02:57 that was out recently involving prairie dogs 03:00 and they have confused that with ferrets. 03:03 But ferrets are a wonderful pet 03:05 and this one is in excellent health 03:07 for his age, usually 6 to 8 years. 03:10 And I understand that at your house, Randy, 03:13 you built a habitat for Joey to go out and play in. 03:16 What is this about? 03:18 Well, we keep him out there in the summer 03:22 and it's built out of plastic platforms 03:28 or something and there's plastic tunnels 03:31 going underground for him. 03:32 So he can go underground just like in burrows 03:35 and they are very curious, aren't they? 03:36 Mm-hmm. 03:38 They like to explore everything 03:39 and I was visiting in Randy's home 03:41 and I see that you have some gates up 03:42 to control where he can go 03:44 so that he might not injure himself. 03:45 And so you keeping him out in summertime 03:47 but you keep him out... 03:48 Does he stay out during the night there or... 03:50 No, he goes in our laundry room. 03:52 Oh, yeah, that's a laundry. 03:54 At night and in the winter. 03:55 And ferrets have three main things 03:57 they like to do, 03:59 they like to play, and eat, and sleep. 04:02 Ferrets on an average will sleep 20 hours a day. 04:06 So they enjoy sleeping and playing, 04:08 and they love to play games of all kinds. 04:11 What does Joey like to do? He like to play tug of war? 04:14 No, he likes to take stuff and hide behind our freezer. 04:18 He hides things behind the freezer. 04:20 This is another characteristic of the ferret. 04:22 He will find shiny things or what have you 04:24 and he will stash them. 04:26 Hide them behind the bed 04:27 or hide them behind the freezer, 04:28 things of that nature. 04:30 So the ferret is a curious creature 04:32 and, boys and girls, this is a little male. 04:35 You know what we call a boy ferret? 04:38 We call him a hob, H-O-B. 04:40 If it's a girl, that's a little jil. 04:44 And can you imagine what we call... 04:45 We have a flock of chickens, 04:47 a herd of cows, a pod of whales, 04:50 and we have a group of ferrets 04:51 we call that a business of ferrets, isn't that weird? 04:56 But they are wonderful creatures, 04:57 they make a wonderful pet. 04:59 If you were interested in having one, 05:01 you would have to be careful of being sure 05:04 that you could ferret proof your home. 05:06 You wouldn't want an extension cord around 05:08 because they might curiously chew on that 05:09 and electrocute themself, and things of that nature. 05:12 But they do make a wonderful pet, 05:14 they are somewhat like a cat that is independent. 05:17 With your dog you can say, 05:18 "Oh, come and jump in my lap" every time, right? 05:22 Yes. 05:23 But a cat, some days a cat doesn't care 05:26 if he comes in your lap or not, 05:28 he will choose his own time, right? 05:29 You have one of those that's out of control to have. 05:32 Well, that's sort of with the ferret too. 05:34 Your ferret, does he make any sounds? 05:36 Yeah, he... 05:38 It sounds like he is making kind of a grunting sound 05:41 or some things whenever he is playing 05:43 and running backwards at the same time. 05:45 Oh, so he makes sort of a... 05:46 It's almost like he is chuckling... 05:50 Like he's laughing at you sometime, right? 05:52 And so they do love to have fun, 05:55 you can put a ping pong on a ball, on the floor, 05:58 a roll of towels, or anything, and they will amuse you. 06:02 If you have two or more ferrets and they are in one room, 06:05 you'll hurt yourself laughing, I promise you. 06:07 They are absolutely amusing, they are of the weasel family, 06:12 and the mink being the largest, 06:14 sometime in Europe referred to as a polecat, 06:17 he is the largest of that family. 06:18 So the weasels of all kind they are related to the otter 06:24 and also a distant cousin is the skunk. 06:26 And the skunk is also an interesting creature. 06:29 This is a very, very, nice ferret. 06:33 Now he wants to smell the microphone. 06:34 Would you chuckle for us just one time? 06:36 No, he won't chuckle for us tonight. 06:38 Boys and girls, 06:39 these creatures are such a wonderful blessing to us. 06:42 Who could see one of these creatures 06:44 and not know 06:45 that our wonderful heavenly Father 06:47 made it for us see and enjoy. 06:49 So thank you again, Randy, for bringing your pet tonight. 06:52 And, boys and girls, Ranger Jim is always saying, 06:54 "Don't forget to tell Jesus, that you love Him 06:57 because He really does love you." 07:02 Thank you, Ranger Jim. 07:03 I learned a lot more about the ferret, didn't you? 07:07 Right now the Cadet Sisters are going to sing for us. 07:10 You know, they come a long way, all the way from Utah, 07:13 and I just love every one of these girls. 07:15 One of the best things I love about them though, 07:18 is how much they love Jesus. 07:20 Let's listen as they sing, "Silent night". 07:24 Silent night 07:29 Holy night 07:33 All is calm 07:38 All is bright 07:43 Round yon virgin 07:48 Mother and child 07:53 Holy infant 07:57 So tender and mild 08:03 Sleep in 08:05 Heavenly peace 08:13 Sleep in 08:15 Heavenly peace 08:22 Silent night 08:27 Holy night 08:32 All is calm 08:37 All is light 08:42 Shepherds heard 08:47 The angels sing 08:52 Hallelujah 08:58 Hail the King 09:03 Christ the Savior 09:07 Is born 09:13 Christ the Savior 09:17 Is born 09:24 Silent night 09:29 Holy night 09:34 Son of God love's 09:41 Pure light 09:44 Radiant beams 09:48 From Thy holy face 09:54 With dawn of redeeming 10:02 Grace Jesus Lord 10:08 At Thy birth 10:14 Jesus Lord 10:18 At Thy birth 10:25 Jesus Lord 10:29 At Thy birth 10:40 Thank you, girls, 10:42 Silent Night is my very favorite song. 10:44 It is my very favorite... 10:45 Well, Christmas song anyway. 10:47 You know, I play the piano by ear and it was... 10:49 I was 10 years old when I played my first song 10:53 and Silent Night was the first song that I played, 10:56 so I just love that song 10:58 and I love that beautiful family harmony. 11:00 Speaking of family, I'm so excited to have Buddy 11:03 and the Kids Time singers with us. 11:05 I love these kids so much. 11:07 And, you know, we've been together so long 11:09 that to me they feel like family, 11:11 and nobody, I mean, nobody sings and plays 11:14 with so much enthusiasm 11:16 quite like Buddy Houghtaling, isn't that right? 19:41 I've always wanted to play the violin 19:43 but I know that I'm going to have to wait 19:44 till I go to heaven before that happens. 19:47 But there are some very talented musicians here today 19:50 that God has blessed 19:51 with very special musical talent. 19:53 And you may recognize Isabel, Sarah, and Wen-Ting 19:56 as they've been on Kids Time many times. 19:59 Well, they've invited their friends Melody, 20:01 Vienne and Katrina to join them 20:04 as they play, "O come, all ye faithful". 22:18 Amen. Amen. 22:19 Sofia first sang on Kids Time 22:21 when she was just three years old, 22:23 that's right, three. 22:25 She wasn't bothered a bit by the cameras 22:26 and you know what? 22:28 She just sang her little heart right out, 22:29 but she is quite a bit bigger now 22:31 and she still sings for Jesus everywhere she goes. 22:34 I'm glad that she is with us today singing, 22:36 "There's a song in the air". 22:48 There's a song in the air 22:53 There's a star in the sky 22:57 There's a mother's deep prayer 23:01 And a baby's low cry 23:05 And the star rains its fire 23:09 While the beautiful sing 23:13 For the manger of Bethlehem 23:18 Cradles a King 23:24 There's a tumult of joy 23:28 O'er the wonderful birth 23:32 For the virgin's sweet boy 23:37 Is the Lord of the earth 23:41 Aye! the star rains its fire 23:44 While the beautiful sing 23:49 For the manger of Bethlehem 23:54 Cradles a King 24:00 In the light of that star 24:04 Lie the ages impearled 24:09 And that song from afar 24:13 Has swept over the world 24:17 Every hearth is aflame 24:20 And the beautiful sing 24:25 In the homes of the nations 24:29 That Jesus is King 24:35 We rejoice in the light 24:40 And we echo the song 24:44 That comes down through the night 24:48 From the heavenly throng 24:52 Aye! we shout to the Lovely evangel they bring 25:00 And we greet in His cradle 25:05 Our Savior and King 25:16 Thank you, Sofia. 25:18 Well, it's learning time, boys and girls. 25:21 And Ben Roy is here and I can't wait to see 25:23 what science experiment he has for us. 25:25 He always makes learning time fun, doesn't he? 25:28 Ben, what are you going to show us today? 25:31 Oh, hey, we've got some wonderful things today. 25:33 You know, it's Christmas time 25:35 and I was thinking about a Christmas experiment 25:38 that we could do. 25:39 And we've got Elaina, and Trevor, and Kelsa, 25:42 and, you know, we're gonna do some experiments 25:44 with some Christmas colors 25:45 because I love Christmas colors. 25:47 Let's see what we can get. 25:48 First of all, since we're working 25:50 with chemicals we got to protect our eyes 25:53 so let's get our safety glasses on, all right. 25:55 All right. 25:56 And don't you think we look good 25:58 with our safety glasses on? 25:59 Oh, yeah, we're ready to go. I'll tell you what? 26:02 We're gonna use some chemicals, okay. 26:03 We're gonna put that right there for now. 26:05 And I want you to hang on to that one right there. 26:08 And I want you to hang on to this one. 26:10 Those are two very special chemicals 26:12 and let's see. 26:13 I'm wondering what might happen 26:15 if we just take chemical A and put it 26:18 and add it to chemical B, you think it will work? 26:22 Hey, let's give a three, two, one. 26:23 You wanna help me with this? Let's go. 26:24 Three, two, one, pour it in there, Elaina, 26:28 see what we can get on this. 26:30 Let's see what happens when this... 26:33 What did you make? 26:35 Blue. 26:36 What did you make? 40:53 Don't they care? 40:55 Oh, look, there is Timart, the basket weaver. 40:58 I'm sure she wants to know about my news. 41:00 She loves hearing about what's going on in Bethlehem. 41:03 Timart, Timart, 41:05 last night the angels sent a special message, 41:08 the Messiah was born last night. 41:11 Girl, are you mad? 41:14 You must have been drinking some of that old wine 41:16 at the party last night. 41:19 Angels, they don't appear to plain, 41:23 ordinary people, 41:25 especially to shepherds like your father. 41:29 Well, they do appear to like prophets, 41:34 and priests, and kings. 41:37 I thought you had some really good news to tell me. 41:39 I'm not mad and I never drink a disgusting wine. 41:43 But I do have some important news to tell you. 41:46 That's a better regard, I don't have time for, 41:49 I don't gossip. 41:50 Well, last night the angels came to the shepherds, 41:53 and my father on the hillside, 41:55 they sang, "Glory to God in the highest, 41:57 and on earth peace, good will toward men." 42:00 My father said, the sky was so bright 42:03 that he had to cover his face, 42:05 and then one angel spoke to my father, 42:08 he told him not to be afraid and that the Savior was born, 42:11 and they could find the Savior, 42:13 in the manger wrapped in old cloth. 42:16 What? 42:17 Are you telling me that the Messiah, 42:20 our Savior was born in a stable? 42:24 And that right now, 42:25 he's laying in a dirty old manger, 42:28 wrapped in old rags? 42:30 That is the most ridiculous thing 42:32 I ever heard. 42:33 Do you expect me to believe a story like that? 42:37 Listen, when it's time for the Messiah to appear, 42:41 He will be born in a palace or in some rich home, 42:48 not in a smelly old stable. 42:51 Listen, I have a lot of baskets to sell 42:53 and I don't have time to waste on something 42:55 that shepherds dreamed up on yonder hillside 42:58 so better run along. 43:01 Surely someone wanna hear about the Messiah's birth. 43:05 Oh, I know... 43:07 Oh, look, there's priest Levi. 43:11 Get out of my way you worthless old man, 43:13 don't you know that nobody cares about you. 43:16 Priest Levi, priest Levi, 43:18 I have some wonderful news to tell you. 43:20 Last night the angels came to the shepherds 43:22 and my father on the hillside, 43:24 they sang, "Glory to God in the highest, 43:26 and on earth peace, good will toward men." 43:29 My father said, the sky was so bright 43:32 that he had to cover his face. 43:34 And the singing, it was the most beautiful singing 43:36 he had ever heard. 43:38 And then one angel spoke to him, 43:40 and he told him not to be afraid 43:42 and that the Savior been born. 43:44 And he could find the savior in a manger wrapped in old rag, 43:49 and last night my father 43:50 went to worship the brand new baby King. 43:53 I have heard enough of this nonsense, 43:55 you want me to believe that an angel would appear 43:58 to someone as unimportant as your father, 44:00 with such important news? 44:02 I think not. 44:04 If and when the Messiah is born, 44:07 I will be one of the first to hear about it. 44:09 Priest Levi, but it's really true. 44:12 I am on my way to worship the new baby king 44:14 right now in the innkeeper stable. 44:16 Please come with me 44:17 so you know what I'm saying is true. 44:19 Priest Levi, please.
