00:01 It's almost time for Kids' Time.
00:02 We're going to be late.
00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus
00:11 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:24 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time, Kids' Time
00:28 Kids' Time
00:31 Hi, boys and girls.
00:32 Do you ever wonder how people learned to make
00:34 bread from tiny little grains that grow on plants?
00:38 The Bible says that all good gifts come from God.
00:41 And that means all good ideas too.
00:43 I don't think it surprised God
00:45 when people came up with the idea
00:47 of how to make bread.
00:48 He knew all along about all the delicious ways
00:51 that people could use grains
00:53 because those ideas came from Him in the first place.
00:57 All wisdom comes from God, even the wisdom and knowledge
01:01 that the smartest people here on earth have.
01:04 Our story today is about a very smart king
01:06 who lived in Bible times and how he prayed for wisdom.
01:10 He was so thankful when God blessed him
01:12 with more wisdom than he could have ever hoped for.
01:16 And he gave God all the glory.
01:18 You can pray for wisdom too.
01:20 Just don't forget to give God the glory.
01:23 All right, now it's time for Nature Time.
01:35 Oh, hey, everyone. It's me Rich Aguilera.
01:37 I am so glad to see you.
01:39 As usual, I am taking pictures of some of the amazing nature
01:42 God has made.
01:44 It's everywhere.
01:46 Today, I am hiking through a very unique place,
01:49 a tropical rainforest.
01:50 Come on.
01:52 There are basically two types of rainforests,
01:55 tropical and temperate.
01:56 Both are very wet and filled with plants and creatures.
02:00 The main difference is a tropical rainforest is hot,
02:04 a temperate rainforest is cooler.
02:07 This is a tropical rainforest.
02:10 What kind of rainforest is it?
02:11 Tropical!
02:13 That's right, tropical, hot and wet.
02:19 A lot of cool stuff grows in here too,
02:21 a lot of plants and ferns and fungi and mosses.
02:25 All kinds of creatures live in here too,
02:27 animals, birds, insects, snails.
02:32 Your basic rainforest is divided into four layers,
02:35 top to bottom.
02:38 At the very top, we see the tallest trees
02:40 that pop up here
02:41 and there above the main canopy.
02:43 The next layer down is the tree canopy
02:45 that creates like a ceiling in the rainforest.
02:48 After that, the next layer down is called the understory layer.
02:52 That's from the canopy down to the forest floor
02:55 which is the final layer.
02:57 Each of these layers contains
02:58 different types of plants and animals
03:00 that thrive in that particular environment.
03:03 How many basic layers are there?
03:05 Four!
03:06 Yeah, four.
03:09 Wow! Check it out.
03:11 Right now, we are in a bamboo forest.
03:13 I've got to get a picture of this.
03:20 Bamboo is a grass and, boy, does it grow tall.
03:31 It also grows really fast.
03:33 Some kinds of bamboo can grow up to three feet per day.
03:36 Wow.
03:38 What's the name of these speedy plants?
03:39 Bamboo!
03:41 Yeah, bamboo.
03:44 Bamboo is really strong too.
03:46 It's used for a bunch of different things.
03:49 Wow.
03:50 Bamboo is awesome.
03:57 Hey, check out this tree.
03:59 It's a banyan tree.
04:01 It looks like something you'd find in a rainforest.
04:05 Now this tree has a central trunk system right in here.
04:09 But it also has a bunch more of these other roots here
04:12 that are holding up the trees as the branches spread.
04:15 They are called aerial roots.
04:17 What are the names of these unique roots?
04:19 Aerial roots!
04:21 That's right, aerial roots.
04:31 Even way out here, these aerial roots
04:34 are helping to hold up this tree.
04:38 Let me get a picture before I move on.
04:47 There's one more thing I want to show you here
04:49 in the rainforest.
04:50 Since it rains a lot, it's very wet.
04:53 If the rainforest is in a mountainous region,
04:56 like here, then the water collects
04:57 and runs downhill through streams,
05:00 rivers, and, yup, waterfalls.
05:03 There's an amazing waterfall at the end of this trail.
05:06 Come on, we're almost there.
05:11 Wow!
05:12 I've got to get a picture of this.
05:17 We've got to get closer. Come on.
05:23 I've got one last thing to do here in the rainforest.
05:26 Since it's time to head back down,
05:28 we're going to head back down the fun way.
05:30 We are going repelling.
05:32 Come on.
06:05 You know, taking pictures is a great way
06:08 to remember some of the stuff we've learnt.
06:10 If you want to see some of those pictures, you can.
06:12 Just go to our website at KidsTime4Jesus.org
06:16 and click on Nature Time.
06:18 Well, I'm going to enjoy this view a little bit longer.
06:21 But remember, God is the Creator,
06:23 nature is His masterpiece.
06:26 See you.
06:35 Welcome to Learning Time.
06:37 I am glad you joined us today.
06:38 And today, we're at a very special place.
06:41 Where are we?
06:42 Oshkosh!
06:44 We're at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and we're here
06:47 at the International Pathfinder Camporee.
06:49 There's over 45,000 pathfinders.
06:53 How about that?
06:54 Yeah!
06:56 And we've got a good bunch of them right here today.
06:58 And I want to find out all your names, okay?
07:01 So we got three people here
07:02 that I am going to ask your names.
07:04 So tell us your name and where are you from.
07:05 I am Nathanael Mandache,
07:07 and I am from Redding, California.
07:09 Well, thanks for coming and joining us.
07:10 And you are?
07:12 I am Ethan Stephens,
07:13 and I am from San Juan Bautista, California.
07:14 Wow! And you are?
07:16 I am Layla Rajab, and I am from Loma Linda, California.
07:19 Well, they are from all over.
07:21 We have pathfinders from all over the world here.
07:23 Are you having fun camping? Yeah!
07:26 Wow!
07:27 Well, today, what we're going to do is we are going to study
07:29 a little bit about the different ways,
07:31 the scientific ways that you can throw a Frisbee.
07:34 Wouldn't that be fun?
07:35 Yeah!
07:36 All right, I think so
07:38 because a Frisbee doesn't fly unless we spin it.
07:39 If you don't spin it, then it doesn't fly very well.
07:42 And that's what we call
07:43 angular momentum, isn't that cool?
07:45 Yeah! I think so, cool.
07:48 The faster it spins, the more stable it is,
07:51 so you have to spin it.
07:52 So I've got seven helpers, and I have seven other helpers.
07:55 So go ahead and take your places right over here.
07:58 And I've got my assistant.
07:59 Where is my assistant?
08:01 Who's going to help me over here?
08:02 There we go.
08:03 Let's see what we got over here.
08:05 All right, so we got seven Frisbees over here,
08:06 and you people over here,
08:09 you are going to be throwing over there.
08:10 But what I want you to do is
08:11 I want you to throw at in some interesting ways, okay?
08:14 So now this is called the backhand throw.
08:17 So put your hand on the Frisbee like this,
08:19 and all you have to do is to spin it
08:21 and make your wrists go just like that
08:24 and try to throw it at your friend.
08:26 There we go. Catch it.
08:27 There we go, throw it right there,
08:29 the backhand throw.
08:30 Okay, and you guys hold it over here,
08:31 you guys hold it there.
08:33 There we go, all right.
08:34 I'm going to need that Frisbee back.
08:36 Okay, now the next throw that we're going to do is this.
08:38 Let me use yours.
08:39 The next throw is kind of interesting
08:41 because the next throw, what we can do is we can take
08:43 and we can put two fingers
08:46 underneath the Frisbee like this, and then,
08:48 you just make your elbow come high and then,
08:50 you just sail the Frisbee off like that.
08:53 Okay, let's try, okay?
08:54 Okay, throw it back to me.
08:56 Throw it back to me.
08:57 Okay, just throw it regular if you want.
09:00 Okay, there we go.
09:01 All right, here we go.
09:03 Oh, hi, so there we go.
09:04 Now we're going to try another way of throwing the Frisbee.
09:07 And the other way, here we go, throw it over there.
09:10 Cool! How cool is that?
09:11 Now we have another way which is going to be interesting.
09:13 I need another Frisbee.
09:15 Here we go.
09:16 Now we're going to take a Frisbee,
09:18 we're going to take your thumb,
09:19 put the thumb right straight down on the Frisbee like that,
09:21 like you were going to put your thumb down on the table.
09:25 You got it, like that?
09:26 All right, straight in, then, you turn our hand over.
09:29 And then, we just go like this, and we spin the Frisbee,
09:32 and that's how we can throw the Frisbee that way.
09:34 Isn't that cool? Hey, give that a try.
09:36 Whoa, whoa, whoa, I caught it, and you can have it right here.
09:39 Isn't that cool?
09:40 That's another good way of throwing the Frisbee.
09:42 I need another Frisbee.
09:44 Now here's a very cool way because sometimes
09:46 when you're playing Frisbee games,
09:48 you want to throw the Frisbee different ways
09:50 'cause if you always throw it like this,
09:52 people will know that you are going to the Frisbee
09:54 when you act this way.
09:55 Interesting!
09:57 So take your thumb like this,
09:58 grab the edge of the Frisbee like that,
10:00 you can just take your thumb,
10:01 grab the edge of the Frisbee,
10:03 and you can throw it just like that.
10:04 And we can go like that and throw it.
10:06 Try it, there we go.
10:08 Just like that. Isn't that cool?
10:11 All right, hey, that's interesting.
10:12 Now the Frisbee can't fly unless it's doing what?
10:16 Spinning!
10:17 It's got to spin.
10:18 And if the Frisbee doesn't fly, then we have a problem.
10:21 Now take your Frisbee and try to throw it
10:23 without spinning it.
10:25 Can you do it?
10:26 Throw without spinning it.
10:28 Oh, oh, what happened?
10:30 They just flutter around.
10:31 Isn't that interesting?
10:32 Hey, come back over here, come back over here.
10:34 Let's talk about this.
10:35 Come on over here, come on over here.
10:37 Now the Frisbees don't fly very well
10:39 unless they are doing what?
10:40 Spinning! They got to be spinning.
10:43 And if we are not spinning, then it doesn't fly.
10:45 Isn't that cool?
10:47 That's what we call angular momentum.
10:49 And God cause things to spin
10:51 because it gives them a very stable flight,
10:55 like the earth, and like Frisbees,
10:57 like this, isn't that cool?
10:58 Yeah.
10:59 And every time we learn more about science,
11:01 we learn more about our Creator, God.
11:11 Yeah, and then I made this shot.
11:15 That was an awesome game last night.
11:17 I'm so glad we won.
11:18 Yeah, wasn't I amazing?
11:20 Amazing? What do you mean?
11:21 I was the one that made most of the points.
11:23 Whatever.
11:24 That girl that was blocking
11:26 was like four inches shorter than you.
11:29 Those points were easy.
11:30 Ah, come on.
11:32 Everyone knows that I am the best player on the team.
11:35 Hey, girls, girls, what are you doing?
11:39 Don't you know that every person
11:41 on your team is responsible
11:43 helping you win that game last night?
11:45 Why don't you girls come on over?
11:47 I am going to tell you a story.
11:48 Okay, I think there's a lesson that needs to be learned.
11:50 Does anybody want to drink of water?
11:52 Yeah.
11:53 Well, pride is a dangerous thing, girls.
11:57 You know, in the Bible, it says that,
11:58 "Pride goeth before a fall."
12:00 Have you ever wondered what that meant?
12:03 It's important to remember that when you are on a team,
12:06 there's no room for pride.
12:08 You know, my story is about a man
12:10 who started off as one of the most faithful kings
12:13 that ever lived until he let pride creep in his heart.
12:18 Long ago, King David longed to build the temple of God.
12:21 However, it was God's plan that David's son, Solomon,
12:26 oversee the construction.
12:27 Solomon was humble,
12:29 and he prayed for wisdom to complete the task.
12:32 God was impressed with Solomon's request.
12:34 I mean He granted him more wisdom
12:36 than he could probably have imagined.
12:38 In fact, Solomon was so wise
12:41 that sometimes his servants gave him
12:44 the praise instead of God.
12:46 Such a glorious temple.
12:49 Look at these plans. It's incredible.
12:50 Look at that.
12:51 And look at this area over here,
12:53 these hanging gardens.
12:54 Yes. Isn't that fabulous?
12:56 And the gold that's on the walls.
12:58 Splendid.
12:59 Just great, engravings...
13:00 Ah, I see you have the plans
13:02 for the temple I ordered you to get.
13:03 Yes, my king, and everything's on schedule
13:06 just as you instructed.
13:08 If it pleases you, my king,
13:10 I'd just like to say that thanks to your guidance.
13:14 Your grand temple will be the greatest in all the land.
13:18 Indeed, your majesty.
13:20 I'm sure that people will continue to talk about you
13:22 and your glory for years to come.
13:24 Yes. Your vision.
13:26 Yes. Your influence.
13:27 Yes. Your inspiring leadership.
13:30 Absolutely.
13:31 And the role that played in the building of your temple.
13:34 This is not my temple.
13:37 This is God's temple.
13:39 Please never forget that.
13:41 God is the architect, a master builder.
13:45 It is His plan.
13:47 This is His temple so that people may honor Him
13:53 and have a proper place to worship Him.
13:55 That is why the temple is being built.
13:59 You will all do well to remember
14:01 that I am but the Lord God's humble servant.
14:05 Yes, my king, absolutely.
14:08 Please, forgive me.
14:10 Agreed, your majesty, you are most humble.
14:22 Your majesty, oh, great king and leader,
14:27 May I present to you the Queen of Sheba.
14:33 The news of Solomon's wisdom and the magnificent temple
14:36 that he had built spread through the kingdoms.
14:40 When the Queen of Sheba heard these rumors,
14:42 she decided she must see for herself
14:45 if the rumors were true.
14:46 And so she set out on a long journey
14:49 to meet the famous King Solomon.
15:08 Come closer, speak, Queen of Sheba.
15:18 Great King Solomon.
15:21 You are known across the lands for your wisdom.
15:24 Every man, woman, and child
15:26 is aware of your great accomplishments.
15:29 Your leadership is without parallel.
15:31 My dear queen,
15:34 any goodness that comes from me,
15:36 I have only God to thank,
15:37 for I am but His humble servant.
15:39 And your temple, the temple of King Solomon,
15:45 it is already considered to be a magnificent structure
15:48 among the kingdoms of the earth.
15:50 The temple of which you speak is not the temple of Solomon.
15:54 It is the temple of God.
15:57 He asked me to build the temple
15:59 for His honor and glory, not mine.
16:03 It is being built so that the people of this earth
16:07 will know Him, the Lord.
16:11 He is God, and there is no other.
16:16 Come, I shall teach you of Him...
16:23 and learn of all the wonders of His creation.
16:32 King Solomon.
16:34 The beautiful Queen of Sheba.
16:36 Before I came to this place, I had heard so many tales
16:39 of your greatness and your wisdom.
16:43 Every question I have ever had, you have answered.
16:47 I am honored that you have spent this time with me
16:51 to learn of the one true God, to have the opportunity
16:55 to tell you about the Creator of heaven and earth.
16:59 After seeing everything for myself,
17:02 I know it is true.
17:04 You are as wise and as great as any king
17:07 I have ever heard of.
17:09 Blessed be the Lord thy God, for He has delighted in you,
17:13 and He has set you upon the throne of Israel.
17:15 Oh, I am humbled that He has chosen me
17:18 to fulfill such a magnificent plan.
17:22 People are happy, and I am happy
17:24 for having gotten a chance to experience
17:29 all this for myself.
17:31 May God's blessings go with you,
17:33 my most cherished Queen of Sheba.
17:37 Farewell, King Solomon.
17:46 I want to thank you for everything
17:48 you have taught me.
17:49 May your God continue to bless you.
17:58 Arise.
18:14 You were right, Miss Brenda.
18:15 Solomon was humble in the beginning.
18:18 Yeah.
18:20 You know, that's right.
18:21 He was faithful for a time,
18:23 but his good influence upon the people did not last.
18:27 So many people told him how wonderful he was
18:29 and how smart he was, and all too soon,
18:33 Solomon's heart filled with pride and selfishness.
18:36 Oh, no.
18:38 And the temple of God that Solomon built in humility
18:41 became known as the temple of Solomon
18:44 instead of God's temple.
18:46 Oh, that's bad. Yes.
18:49 Solomon turned from the Lord and did many things
18:52 that were not pleasing to God.
18:54 Near the end of his life, Solomon acknowledged his sin
18:58 and asked God to forgive him.
19:01 So you see girls how dangerous pride is.
19:03 Yeah!
19:05 Even an ounce of pride will keep us out of heaven.
19:08 I don't want pride in my heart.
19:10 I don't want it in my heart either.
19:12 Who do we want to keep in our heart?
19:14 Jesus. Jesus.
19:15 That's right.
19:16 Well, why don't you girls go ahead and go outside
19:18 and start practicing some basketball
19:20 and earn those points, okay?
19:22 Yeah, we hope so. All right, team.
19:23 All right, bye, girls. Yeah.
19:38 O Lord, my God
19:43 When I in awesome wonder
19:48 Consider all the worlds
19:52 Thy Hands have made
19:57 I see the stars
20:01 I hear the rolling thunder
20:07 Thy power throughout
20:11 The universe displayed
20:17 Then sings my soul
20:22 My Savior God
20:25 To Thee
20:29 How great Thou art
20:34 How great Thou art
20:39 Then sings my soul
20:43 My Savior God
20:46 To Thee
20:50 How great Thou art
20:53 How great Thou art
21:00 Then sings my soul
21:05 My Savior God
21:08 To Thee
21:11 How great Thou art
21:16 How great Thou art
21:21 Then sings my soul
21:25 My Savior God
21:28 To Thee
21:31 How great Thou art
21:35 How great
21:38 Thou art
21:51 It's time for Miss Brenda's Book of the Day.
21:55 And today's book, boys and girls,
21:57 is called Little Tyke by Georges Westbeau.
22:01 And it says, "It's a true story of the gentle lioness
22:05 who won America's heart featured in motion pictures,
22:09 television, and public appearances."
22:12 And it says, "The Little Tyke, the famous African lioness
22:16 who made public appearances that thrilled many audiences
22:19 lived at Hidden Valley Ranch in the State of Washington.
22:23 She loved to play with children.
22:25 She never liked to be away from her master and mistress,
22:28 and she was amazingly kind to all other animals.
22:32 Here is a miracle of modern life,
22:35 a classic story you will sincerely enjoy."
22:39 You won't want to miss this book, Little Tyke.
22:42 Well, something else you want to miss is the letters
22:45 that I am going to share today,
22:46 and let's pull a letter right out of here.
22:49 This first one is from Dakota in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
22:53 And let's see what is happening in Chattanooga.
22:59 It says, "Dear Miss Brenda.
23:00 I am nine years old, and my name is Dakota,
23:03 and I live in Chattanooga.
23:05 I shared Jesus by helping my stepbrother understand
23:08 the Bible, for he does not know what happens when you die.
23:11 I liked the Bible lessons a lot.
23:14 And I can't wait to hear from you again.
23:16 Love, Dakota."
23:18 Well, Dakota, I am so glad that
23:19 you are enjoying our Kids' Time Bible lessons.
23:22 Boys and girls, I want to encourage you to sign up too.
23:24 Just go to our website kidstime4jesus.org and then,
23:29 you can sign up for Bible lessons too.
23:31 And I know that it will be a blessing to you.
23:35 This next letter is from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
23:39 And it's from Amber.
23:41 And it says, "Dear Miss Brenda, my name is Amber,
23:44 and I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
23:46 I've just started to go to church with my grandma.
23:51 My grandma is Lori." Her name is Lori.
23:53 It says, "I watch Kids' Time when I am at grandma's house.
23:56 My favorite time is Learning Time.
23:58 And I would like to join Kids' Club, please.
24:00 Can you sign me up for the Bible lessons?
24:03 And I would like to have a free Bible," it said,
24:06 "So I can have my own Bible.
24:08 Would you please pray for my family
24:10 that they would start coming to church
24:12 and would do the right thing.
24:14 I'm 10 years, and I'm going to be in fifth grade this year,
24:17 and would you give Maxwell a hug for me?
24:20 Thank you, kindly.
24:21 Have a blessed day.
24:22 Sincerely, Amber."
24:24 And Amber says hello and wants to hug, Maxwell.
24:27 Hey, Max.
24:29 We'll see, I make sure I give him a hug a little later, okay?
24:32 We have, let's see if I look in here and...
24:37 Oh, I've got a letter right here.
24:39 Let's see who this one is from.
24:40 This is from Trinidad and Tobago.
24:42 And I love all my friends over in Trinidad and Tobago.
24:45 I've been to your country many times.
24:47 It's beautiful over there.
24:49 And even more beautiful
24:51 than your country are the people, I love them.
24:54 "Dear Miss Brenda. How are you?
24:55 I do hope you are well.
24:57 My name is Gabrielle.
24:59 I am 10 years, and I love your show very much.
25:01 I enjoy Story Time, and I would like to join your Kids' Club
25:04 that you talk about, and I want those Bible lessons.
25:07 I spread God's Word by inviting my school friends to church.
25:11 And I also sing at church.
25:13 I would like you to please pray for my aunt
25:16 who has stopped believing in God.
25:18 She doesn't go to church anymore.
25:20 Would you please pray for her to accept
25:22 God back into her life?
25:24 I love her very much, and I want her to be in heaven.
25:28 So I am thanking you in advance for praying for her.
25:31 Thank you so much. God bless you.
25:33 Love, Gabriella."
25:35 Well, absolutely, we'll pray for your aunt.
25:37 Boys and girls, will you pray for Gabriella's aunt as well
25:40 that she will come to know Jesus?
25:42 And that's what God wants us to do,
25:45 boys and girls, is to pray for each other
25:47 and keep sharing Jesus everywhere we go
25:49 because Jesus is coming soon,
25:51 and He loves you very much.
25:53 Well, that's all the time we have today,
25:55 but until next time,
25:57 remember, wherever you go, whatever you do,
25:59 it's Kids' Time to share Jesus.
26:20 Kids' Time
26:43 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time
