00:01 It's almost time for Kids' Time.
00:02 We're going to be late. 00:04 It's time to share, there's a world out there 00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:12 It's time to share, there's a world out there 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:24 Kids' Time, Kids' Time 00:26 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time 00:31 Hi, boys and girls. 00:32 Would you like to know 00:34 one of my very favorite things to do? 00:36 I love traveling and speaking in churches all over the world, 00:41 and my very favorite thing 00:43 is getting to meet boys and girls like you. 00:45 Churches are special places, 00:48 it's where we go to spend time with God and with each other. 00:52 And when you're at church, 00:53 you don't have to think about homework, or school, 00:56 or all the chores you need to do. 00:58 Churches are special for another reason too. 01:01 Did you know that your church is God's house? 01:04 It is. 01:05 It doesn't matter 01:07 whether the building is big or small, 01:08 plain or fancy, it's still God's house. 01:12 When you go and visit someone in their home, 01:15 I'm sure you're very kind, and polite, 01:17 and careful with their things. 01:19 You want to be respectful, right? 01:21 Well, that's just how we should be 01:23 when we visit God's house too. 01:25 You'll see why in just a little bit, 01:27 but first, it's time for our Nature Time. 01:38 Oh, hey, kids. It's me Rich Aguilera. 01:41 I'm so glad to see you. 01:42 As usual, I'm right here taking pictures 01:44 of some of the amazing nature that God has made. 01:47 It's everywhere. 01:49 I'm in a very unique place today. 01:52 Let me show you why. 01:59 We're on a volcano. 02:01 This one is called Kilauea, 02:03 and it's on the big island of Hawaii. 02:05 It's one of the most active volcanoes 02:08 in the world. 02:09 What's it called? Kilauea! 02:11 Yeah, Kilauea. Let's check it out. 02:14 As you can see here, 02:15 the lava flow covered up this road a few years ago. 02:18 Let's hike a little ways in. 02:33 Wow, as far as that I can see, 02:35 lava has covered everything. 02:39 So what is a volcano? 02:42 Well, a volcano is a rupture or a vent in the earth's crust 02:46 where gases and ash, and of course, lava comes out. 02:52 Lava is basically liquid melted rock 02:55 that has come to the surface. 02:57 What is lava? Melted rock! 03:00 That's right, melted rock. 03:03 Wow, just think how hot that's got to be to melt rock. 03:11 Sometimes, the lava just oozes out of the ground slowly, 03:15 that's what's been happening here. 03:18 In other places, volcanoes might erupt violently 03:21 and blow the top of the mountain. 03:30 I was actually here 03:32 in the same place a few years ago 03:34 when this lava field was flowing. 03:37 During that visit here, 03:38 I actually came across some flowing lava, 03:41 it was intense and hot. 03:43 You know what? 03:44 I've got a video clip right here 03:46 on my phone. 03:47 Want to check it out? 03:53 The lava burned 03:54 the little wooden stick instantly. 03:58 I'm not sure if there's still lava flowing 04:00 around here anymore, 04:02 but we're going to look around. 04:03 Come on. 04:10 Wow, it really is amazing 04:12 just how much lava there is in this place. 04:19 There's actually two main kinds of lava here. 04:22 There's this smooth round-looking one, 04:24 it's called Pahoehoe. 04:26 I know, that's kind of a funny name. 04:28 What's the name of it? Pahoehoe! 04:31 Yeah, Pahoehoe. 04:33 Hey, let's take a picture of it. 04:41 The other kind of lava is very rocky and jagged, 04:44 like this one here, and it also has a funny name. 04:47 it's called Aa. 04:50 What's it called? Aa. 04:52 Yeah, Aa. 04:59 Aa is also very light. 05:01 Check this out. 05:07 Impressive! 05:09 Hey let's take a picture too. 05:19 Hey, look, we have found an active volcanic eruption. 05:23 Cool. 05:25 We've got to take a picture of this. 05:30 What an amazing view. 05:32 Even though we can't see it, 05:34 there's a lava lake down in that crater right there. 05:38 You know what? 05:39 We should stay here until sunset. 05:41 I wouldn't be surprised 05:42 if we can see the glow of the lava 05:44 after it gets dark. 05:47 What an amazing view. 05:49 Even though we can't really see 05:51 the lava lake inside that crater, 05:53 it's intense enough to make the sky glow. 06:02 Wow, I've had a lot of fun exploring 06:04 this volcano with you today. 06:06 Kilauea. 06:08 You know, taking pictures is a great way to remember 06:10 the stuff that we've learned today. 06:13 If you want to see the pictures that I've taken, you can. 06:15 Just go to our website at KidsTime4Jesus.org 06:19 and click on Nature Time. 06:21 Volcanoes are super powerful features here on earth, 06:25 but God's power is so much greater. 06:28 Remember, God is the creator, nature is His masterpiece. 06:33 See you. 07:54 Welcome to Learning Time. I'm glad you joined us today. 07:57 Today, we are... 07:58 Where are we? Oshkosh! 08:01 We're at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 08:03 and we're at the International Pathfinder Camporee 08:06 camp with over 45,000 pathfinders. 08:10 Right? Yeah! 08:12 And we got a good group with us today. 08:13 And today, we're going to be doing 08:14 some bubble science 08:16 which is really, really interesting, 08:18 but first, let me introduce some of my helpers. 08:21 Now tell us your name and where are you from? 08:23 My name is Liza Hutapea, 08:24 and I'm from Loma Linda Indonesian church 08:26 and Loma Linda California. 08:28 Well, thank you for coming. Yes? 08:30 My name is Joshua Mapes 08:31 and I'm from Kingsport, Tennessee. 08:33 And thank you for helping us. And you are? 08:35 I'm Sarah Valcourt 08:36 and I'm from Almond Temple Church 08:38 in Long Island in New York. 08:40 Wow! 08:42 So we got pathfinders from all over. 08:44 Now today, we're talking about bubbles. 08:45 Now have you ever made a bubble? 08:47 Anybody? Yes! 08:49 Yeah, well, we're going to try to make some bubbles today, 08:51 but... 08:52 This is how you can make them at home. 08:54 This is a great thing to do at home. 08:55 All you need is some... 08:56 Well, what's this? Soap. 08:58 It's soap and we use soap a lot. 08:59 And then, well, today, 09:00 in order to make our bubbles a little bit stronger, 09:02 I have some guar gum. 09:04 Now you may not have guar gum at home, 09:06 you might have bubble gum, 09:07 but that's the wrong kind of gum. 09:09 But it's made from a plant which is really cool 09:11 and then you add some water together. 09:13 Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to have you 09:15 put some safety glasses on 09:16 because we don't want to get bubbles in our eyes. 09:18 Have you ever got soap in your eyes? 09:20 Yes! Yeah, bad news, thanks. 09:22 I'm going to put these on as well. 09:24 Now bubbles are interesting 09:25 because there are three parts to a bubble. 09:27 Did you know that? 09:29 No! No. 09:30 When we look in a bubble, we say, 09:31 "Oh, that's really a cool thing." 09:33 And it looks like one part, but it has three parts. 09:34 One of the parts happens to be a thin sheet of water, 09:39 obviously, right? 09:40 Yeah! 09:41 And then we have two layers of soap 09:43 on either side of the bubble. 09:45 Now here, let me get my helpers come over there, 09:47 and I want you to stand one, two, three. 09:49 I'll take this first one right here, there you go. 09:52 And we're going to try to make some bubbles. 09:54 Now you can make a bubble wand like this at home, 09:56 and it's really cool. 09:58 All you need is two sticks 09:59 or you can use a friend's arms... 10:01 Well, probably not the arms. 10:02 Now all you have to do, 10:04 get a lot of bubble mix right here 10:06 and then we're going to bring the bubble mix 10:08 and these ropes up like this, and we're going to try 10:10 to make a big old bubble right here. 10:12 And let's see what we got. Wow! 10:14 So we can make 10:15 some very interesting bubbles, can't we? 10:18 Whoa! Yes, we can. 10:20 Hey, try it. Let's go, guys. 10:21 Put those poles down in there, get that rope, 10:25 hold the poles together, 10:27 and then bring it up, and as you bring it up, 10:29 you can separate them. 10:31 Okay, try it. Let's go. Keep going. 10:32 Let's see if we can make some good bubbles. 10:34 Yeah! Just like that. 10:38 Whoa. Yeah, look at those bubbles. 10:41 Isn't that interesting? Yeah! 10:42 Whoa, whoa, look at that. 10:44 Keep going, how is it going down... 10:45 Whoa! 10:47 That was a pretty big bubble down there. 10:49 That's interesting. Let's see. 10:52 Whoa, look at that one, it's still going. 10:54 We got bubbles floating in the air. 10:55 Now bubbles are very, very light, aren't they? 10:58 Yeah! All right. 10:59 Bubbles are extremely light and they like to fly. 11:02 And, you know, we can put regular air... 11:05 Wow! Whoa! 11:06 We can put regular air in bubbles, 11:08 but we can also put other gases. 11:10 Wow, look at that one. How cool was that? 11:13 That is so cool. 11:15 We can actually make bubbles... 11:16 Wow! 11:18 We can actually make... 11:19 Whoa! 11:20 We can actually make bubbles 11:22 by using different kinds of air in them, 11:24 like, sometimes, carbon dioxide and some other gases as well. 11:27 Isn't that the coolest thing? Yeah! 11:29 Look, there we go, and mine just broke. 11:31 That's really interesting. 11:33 You can make them small... 11:34 Whoa, look at that one go! Wow! 11:35 It's going, it's going, it's going, 11:37 where is it going to... 11:39 Oh, and it stopped right over there. 11:40 Now that's interesting, isn't it? 11:42 Whoa! Whoa, cool. 11:44 But, you know that's interesting 11:45 'cause the bubble has three different parts, 11:48 three different parts, 11:49 and when we see a bubble, we don't notice... 11:51 Look at that, look at that, look at that. 11:53 Look out, look out. 11:55 Keep making some bubbles, isn't that cool? 11:57 Now what do we use bubbles for... 11:58 What do we use soap for? Washing! 12:01 For washing, and that's interesting. 12:03 Now water... 12:04 You have to have water for bubbles, 12:06 at least it makes it better for us and... 12:08 Look at that one right over there, look at that. 12:09 Hang on. It's going to get to you. 12:11 There we go. 12:13 We might be able to blow it up right here. 12:14 Go, go, go. 12:15 Look at there, and it's going away. 12:18 How cool is that? You know, God made bubbles. 12:21 That's right, He made bubbles. 12:23 He made bubbles so we could carry air. 12:25 Well, there are some animals that actually have bubbles, 12:28 and they carry bubbles down under the water, 12:31 and they breathe that bubble air. 12:33 Isn't that cool in order to stay alive? 12:35 Yeah! That's right. 12:36 All of those things, those creatures. 12:38 And, you know, every time we learn more about science, 12:41 we learn more about our Creator, God. 12:52 Go, go, get her. Get her, get her. 12:56 Get her. 12:58 Go get him, get him. 13:04 Hey, hey, hey, kids, what are you doing? 13:07 Shh. We're here in God's house. 13:11 We need to be quite and reverent. 13:14 Come on down. Kids, come here. 13:16 What are you doing in here anyway? 13:18 I thought you were with your Pathfinder group. 13:20 Aren't you guys working on your cooking honor today 13:22 in the church kitchen? 13:24 Yeah, but Miss Johnson isn't quite ready for us yet. 13:29 Well, I need you kids to know 13:30 that we always need to be revered in God's house. 13:34 Miss Brenda, are we in trouble? Yeah, are we in trouble? 13:39 Kids, you need to know 13:41 that it is never okay to disrespect God's house. 13:44 I think I need to tell you kids a story. 13:47 Why don't you come here and sit down? 13:55 I want to tell you the story when Jesus was on earth 13:58 and He walked into His temple one day, 14:01 and when He walked into the holy temple, 14:03 He was horrified at what He saw. 14:05 He could not believe all the money-changers 14:07 that were in there, 14:08 there were people bickering and arguing over prices. 14:11 There was bad guys and the bad businessmen 14:13 that were crooked and corrupt, 14:14 and they were trying to cheat the people 14:17 and they were trying to charge them on their prices, 14:19 and they had sheep in there that people were having to buy 14:21 for their sacrifices. 14:23 And there was so much fighting going on, 14:25 and there was money changing going on all the time, 14:28 and people were arguing. 14:29 In fact, there was so much noise 14:31 that He could hardly hear Himself think. 14:37 Sir, I took a look at your sheep outside, 14:39 do you have any other sheep 14:40 without blemish for the sacrifice? 14:43 That's all the sheep we have. 14:47 Okay, well, I have 10 farthing for one of your sheep. 14:50 Ten farthings? 14:51 The price is gone off, it's not 10 farthing. 14:52 What? 14:54 Your man outside said 10 farthing for one sheep. 14:55 You won't be able to get a turtle dove 14:57 with 10 farthings. 15:01 I'm a carpenter, 15:02 and they say I make the finest hammers 15:04 throughout the land. 15:06 I'm willing to trade, you won't be sorry. 15:08 What am I going to do with a hammer anyways? 15:10 I don't build houses, I sell sheep for a living. 15:16 Please, sir. 15:18 My family and I were ambushed 15:20 and robbed on our way to Jerusalem, 15:22 they took most of our money. 15:24 Well, then you might have to just turn around and go home 15:26 'cause obviously, 15:27 you can't afford anything around here, 15:30 and watch your step on your way out. 15:32 Let's go. Trickle minded. 15:35 One day, when Jesus came to the temple, 15:38 He was greatly distressed by what He saw. 15:41 In fact, it made Him very angry. 15:44 Buyers and sellers were yelling above the crowds trying to get 15:48 the most money. 15:50 People were cheating each other, 15:51 charging unfair prices for livestock. 15:55 Instead of a peaceful atmosphere 15:56 in God's house, there was noise and confusion. 16:00 Jesus was sad and heartbroken 16:02 that all these people were using 16:05 God's holy temple for business, 16:07 and not for worshipping their Creator, 16:10 King of the universe. 16:12 He knew something must be done. 16:15 He must teach the people 16:16 that this was God's holy place of worship 16:20 and needed to be treated with reverence and respect. 16:23 As His anger and disgust for the unholy scene grew, 16:27 people took note of His presence. 16:56 Take these things and leave. 16:59 How dare you make My Father's house 17:00 into a place of business? 17:07 God has ordained this sanctuary. 17:10 It's a place of worship, and you have defiled it. 17:18 Those who have come to worship in purity of purpose cannot do 17:21 so over the sound of your bickering 17:26 and your exchange of coin. 17:29 Take these things and leave! 17:42 Those who wish to worship may do so. 17:45 Soon after, the temple was cleared 17:47 of all the money-changers and businessmen. 17:50 All the animals were taken from the temple, 17:53 and its floors swept clean. 17:57 And once the temple 17:58 had been fully put back in order, 18:00 the people returned. 18:02 Although, this time, 18:03 it was the ones who were looking for peace, 18:06 encouragement, and healing. 18:09 All who wished to worship God found comfort 18:12 in the company of Jesus. 18:14 So you see, kids, it's always important 18:17 to be reverent in God's house, isn't it? 18:19 I agree. You do? 18:21 That's right, Nico. 18:22 Miss Brenda, I am so sorry 18:25 for running around in God's house. 18:27 Thanks, Miss Brenda, for telling us the story. 18:30 I think we all kind of needed it. 18:31 Yeah. 18:33 Well, it's an important lesson to learn 18:34 because when we are reverent in God's house, 18:37 it's the way we can show Him 18:38 that we love Him, and we all love Him, don't we? 18:41 Yes. I know I love Jesus, don't you? 18:44 Well, why don't you kids go on to the church kitchen 18:47 and get started on your cooking honor, okay? 18:49 Okay. 18:51 And I better start practicing the piano for church Sabbath. 18:54 Bye, kids. 19:10 I hear the Savior say 19:14 Thy strength indeed is small 19:18 Child of weakness, watch and pray 19:22 Find in Me thine all in all 19:27 Jesus paid it all 19:31 All to Him I owe 19:35 Sin had left a crimson stain 19:38 He washed it white as snow 19:44 For now indeed I find Thy power, 19:50 and Thine alone 19:52 Can change a leper's spots 19:56 And melt the heart of stone 20:01 Jesus paid it all 20:05 All to Him I owe 20:09 Sin had left a crimson stain 20:12 He washed it white as snow 20:17 Jesus paid it all 20:21 All to Him I owe 20:25 Sin had left a crimson stain 20:28 He washed it white as snow 20:43 Hi, boys and girls. 20:45 It's time for Miss Brenda's book 20:47 of the day! 20:49 And today's book is called Adventures in Galilee 20:52 by Bradley Booth, 20:54 and it's full of wonderful stories 20:56 when Jesus was here on earth. 20:58 You'll want to read Adventures in Galilee by Bradley Booth. 21:03 Well, today is a special day. 21:04 I have three very, very important guests 21:07 with me today. 21:08 I'd like you to meet Garret, Brian, and Grace. 21:12 Welcome to Kids' Time. Hi, Miss Brenda. 21:15 I'm so glad you're here. 21:16 Now, Garret and Grace, 21:18 you have a special witnessing program 21:21 right in your home and in your church, 21:23 and you love Jesus, don't you? 21:25 Yes, we do. 21:26 And now I love how you have reached out 21:29 and you shared Jesus with somebody very special. 21:31 You've brought your friend... 21:32 What's his name? Brian. 21:34 Brian with us today, 21:35 and Brian's pretty special to you guys, isn't he? 21:37 Yes, he is. Yes, he is. 21:39 Brian, tell me a little bit about yourself? 21:43 Well, I was just recently released 21:45 from prison after serving 20 years, 21:46 and when I got out of prison... 21:48 Twenty years is a long time to serve. 21:49 Yes, it's a very long time, it's very hard. 21:52 Mm-hmm. 21:54 And when I got out, 21:55 I met their cousin and she took me 21:57 into their house 21:59 and I went to church with them and I met... 22:02 So you met Garret and Grace at church? 22:04 Yes, I met Garret and Grace at church. 22:06 And let me ask you, Garret and Grace, 22:09 when you found out that Brian was a prisoner, 22:11 that he used to be in prison and especially, for 20 years, 22:14 were you a little afraid to be a friend with him? 22:16 No. No? Why not? 22:18 The way he just talked to people 22:20 and talked about Jesus. 22:22 And so what did you think of him? 22:25 Very nice guy. Very nice guy. 22:27 What did you think, Grace? He's going to be our friend. 22:31 Aw, you knew right away he was going to be your friend? 22:34 Aw and I can tell you 22:36 that you two love him very much, 22:37 and I think, Brian pretty much loves you guys too, doesn't he? 22:42 Tell me, you learned about Jesus 22:44 when you were in prison, didn't you? 22:46 Yes, I did. 22:47 And so about seven years ago, you were baptized. 22:49 Yes. 22:50 And so you were, 22:51 have been loving Jesus for a long time. 22:53 What was it like when you were released 22:54 and you were able to actually walk 22:56 into a real church? 22:58 Oh, it was unbelievable, yes. 23:00 You can't imagine the feeling you'd have, it actually feel, 23:04 compared to the prison church, and you actually seeing, 23:08 you know, people worship and praise God. 23:12 And it was unbelievable and it was really good. 23:14 And how... 23:15 Your church family there, how are they to you? 23:18 Oh, they were amazing. 23:19 When I first walked to the church, 23:21 I didn't expect it. 23:22 I was thinking out, you know, I was going to be 23:23 on one side of the church, 23:25 everybody's was going to be on the other side. 23:26 But it was amazing, and when I came in, 23:28 hugs and greetings... 23:30 It was about the love of God.
