00:01 It's almost time for Kids' Time.
00:03 We're going to be late.
00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus
00:11 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:20 Let's tell them
00:21 That He loves us so
00:24 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time, Kids' Time
00:28 Kids' Time
00:31 Hi, boys and girls.
00:32 Have you ever noticed how happy you are
00:34 when someone is kind to you, even in the smallest way?
00:38 Maybe someone held the door open for you
00:40 and smiled when you entered a store.
00:43 Or perhaps you're feeling sad and someone notices
00:46 and they ask, "What's wrong?"
00:48 And you can tell they really do care and want to know.
00:51 Or perhaps a teacher lets you make up
00:53 a few extra points on an assignment
00:55 so you can get a better grade in your class.
00:58 It's really not that hard to make someone happy.
01:02 Showing a little kindness here and there
01:04 usually comes back to you eventually,
01:06 sometimes in small ways and other times in big ways.
01:10 That's what happened in our Bible story today.
01:13 A woman showed a prophet of God a bit of kindness
01:16 and God poured out the most wonderful blessing on her.
01:21 I'll tell you more about it in just a few minutes,
01:23 but first, it's time for Nature Time!
01:34 Oh, hey, everyone!
01:35 It's me, Rich Aguilera.
01:37 I'm so glad to see you.
01:38 As usual, I'm here taking pictures
01:40 of some of the amazing places that God has made.
01:44 It's everywhere.
01:46 I'm extra excited that you're with me here today
01:49 because I'm in an amazing place.
01:51 You know how I like nature.
01:53 Well, this place is a place that's been specially made
01:56 so that you can appreciate the nature that God has made.
01:59 This is summer camp.
02:02 Where is it? Summer camp!
02:04 Yeah, summer camp.
02:06 Do you know about summer camps?
02:08 They're places that are all over North America
02:11 where you can come and learn about God,
02:13 enjoy nature,
02:14 make lots of friends, and have fun.
02:17 Today, I'm at a camp in Michigan
02:19 called Camp Au Sable.
02:21 It's great here.
02:22 Hey, you know what?
02:24 I got an idea.
02:25 Why don't we go around
02:27 and I can take some pictures of the campers
02:28 so you can see how great it is here?
02:30 Come on!
02:34 One of the first places
02:35 I want you to see is one of my favorite activities.
02:38 It's High Adventure.
02:39 Come on.
02:41 Check it out.
02:43 You can challenge yourself at the rock wall
02:46 or you can swing from a tree.
02:51 You can even go zip-lining through the tree tops.
02:57 Hey, we're here at the waterfront.
02:58 Let's go.
03:02 There's lots to do at the waterfront.
03:05 You can play in the water
03:09 or you can try riding one of these.
03:12 Wow.
03:15 You can try snorkeling or the blob.
03:20 Want to learn how to wakeboard?
03:22 Don't worry, they'll teach you.
03:33 Hey, there's even a go-kart track here.
03:36 Hey, let's challenge one of the campers to a race.
03:39 Come on.
03:55 Hey, that camper passed me.
03:57 I got to catch up.
04:13 I can't believe I got beat by a camper.
04:22 Good race, mud guy!
04:25 I was racing Pastor Ken.
04:27 Thanks, Pastor Ken.
04:28 Hey! We had a lot of fun, didn't we, Rich?
04:31 That was awesome. All right, mud guy.
04:33 Hey, kids, this is Pastor Ken.
04:35 He is the Michigan Conference Youth Director,
04:38 and he is Miss Brenda's brother!
04:40 Hey, let's take a selfie for the kids.
04:42 Let's do it.
04:48 Hey, kids, there's a whole bunch of other stuff
04:51 to do here at camp.
04:52 Right, Pastor Ken? Yes, there is.
04:53 Come on, guys. God is good!
05:10 There is so much to do at camp, you'll never be bored.
05:14 And you'll make some awesome friends
05:16 and meet lots of new people.
05:22 You'll do some silly stuff, built some pretty cool things,
05:26 and the counselors and leaders, they are the greatest.
05:30 They are there to make sure your time at camp is awesome
05:34 and that you get to know God better while you are there.
05:39 Camp Au Sable is just one of many different camps
05:42 for you to enjoy
05:43 and each one is a little bit different
05:45 with a lot of cool things to do.
05:47 Most importantly, each one of these camps
05:50 has the goal of helping their visitors
05:52 build a better relationship
05:53 with the one who created them, God.
05:57 If you would like to see a list of camps,
05:59 here in North America,
06:01 visit the website AdventistCamps.org.
06:05 Well, I've had a ton of fun
06:06 visiting Camp Au Sable with you here, today.
06:09 Remember, all of these camps are here for you to enjoy.
06:13 Oh, yeah, if you want to see some of the pictures
06:15 that we've been taking here today,
06:17 you can go to our website at KidsTime4Jesus.org,
06:21 and click on Nature Time.
06:23 Remember, God is the creator...
06:26 And Nature is His masterpiece.
06:37 Welcome to Learning Time.
06:39 I'm glad you are here today,
06:40 because we are in a very special place
06:43 and I've got a bunch of campers with me,
06:45 and where are we?
06:46 Oshkosh!
06:48 We're at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
06:49 We're at the Pathfinder International Camporee.
06:52 Are you having fun? Yes!
06:55 I thought so.
06:56 And today we're going to do a science experiment
06:58 that you can do at home
06:59 and this is really cool but before we get into it,
07:01 I'm going to find out who our helpers are.
07:04 So let's find out their names and where are you from.
07:06 Let's start with you.
07:07 My name is Zig Xavier
07:09 and I'm from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
07:10 Wow, thanks for coming today.
07:12 And what is your name and where are you from?
07:14 My name is Calyn,
07:15 and I'm from San Jose, California.
07:17 Oh, and thanks for being here.
07:19 And what is your name and where are you from?
07:21 My name is Alina and I'm from California.
07:23 Wow, so we're all...
07:25 We're from everywhere, aren't we?
07:26 Yes.
07:28 They are from all over the world.
07:29 Well, this is an interesting experiment,
07:31 and it takes some safety glasses,
07:32 so let's put your safety glasses on.
07:34 Now what you might want to do
07:36 is you might want to get a little roll like this.
07:37 This is a paper roll that we have a lot
07:39 and we don't want to throw it away,
07:41 we want to do what with it?
07:42 Recycle! Recycle or reuse.
07:44 Reuse! Excellent.
07:46 So what we're going to do?
07:47 We're going to take the little paper tube
07:48 and today, we're going to be using some tissue paper,
07:51 this is very, very, very fine tissue paper.
07:54 I'm going to put it on the end of the tube.
07:55 You can do this now
07:56 and then we're going to take a rubber band,
07:58 can you help me do that?
07:59 We're going to put a rubber band around, twice,
08:01 to make it kind of tight.
08:02 Then we are going to find out
08:03 if tissue paper is strong or weak.
08:05 Is tissue paper strong?
08:07 No.
08:09 It's pretty what?
08:10 Weak. Weak. Okay.
08:12 Hang on to that for me right like this,
08:13 and take this little rod right here okay,
08:14 and see if you can...
08:16 Hold it up so we can see it,
08:17 and see if you can force the rod,
08:19 it's just a wooden dowel rod,
08:20 all the way through that tissue paper, can you?
08:23 Did she do it? Yes.
08:25 It went all the way through, so tissue paper is weak, right?
08:29 Yes. Okay, let's see what we can do.
08:31 Now this experiment has to do with some particles.
08:34 What we're going to do,
08:35 we have these little tubes here,
08:37 and I'm going to pour some of this in yours.
08:39 Now what we're using is salt today.
08:41 Now if you don't have salt, you can use some sugar
08:43 and that always makes it a lot sweeter, right?
08:46 Yes!
08:47 Yeah, so let's put some salt in there
08:48 and we have some dowel rods,
08:50 and so we're going to be using some dowel rods
08:52 here today so we're going to...
08:53 Whoa, whoa, pour that in here like that.
08:55 Here's your dowel rod right here
08:56 and here's yours as well and I've got one for you.
08:59 Now what I like...
09:00 Oh, yes, you can pour that in there,
09:02 I almost forgot to do that.
09:03 How cool is that?
09:04 That's right, we're going to add
09:06 a little more salt in there.
09:07 Now we have the safety glasses on
09:09 because we don't want to get salt in our eyes, do we?
09:10 No! No, not a good idea.
09:12 Okay, so what I want you to do, I'm going to show you.
09:14 We're going to pick your little tube up
09:17 and take your little dowel stick
09:19 and push down inside, right into that salt,
09:22 okay, and we're going to find out
09:24 if the tissue paper is really strong or if it's weaker.
09:27 What happens when you try to force that stick down there?
09:30 So let's try yours first.
09:32 Pick yours up with your other hand
09:33 and push it down
09:34 and she's going to push really, really hard.
09:36 Whoa, and it went all the way through now that's...
09:39 Why don't you try yours?
09:41 Here we go, take it up here and push it on down,
09:43 push it on down, push it on down,
09:45 and he's struggling, he's shaking
09:47 and he's a very strong young man.
09:49 Okay, y'all stop right there forth.
09:50 That's interesting.
09:51 Now why did hers go through and his not?
09:54 What'd you think? It is salt.
09:56 Right, not enough salt in there,
09:58 because he had a bunch of salt.
09:59 That's interesting.
10:01 Okay let's try yours, let's see how strong you are
10:02 and she's pushing down
10:04 and pushing down and pushing down,
10:05 and don't strain too much.
10:07 Whoa, look at that, and it didn't work.
10:08 She's got a lot of salt as well.
10:10 Now you and I might think that if you push straight down,
10:13 all that salt has a lot of weight right,
10:15 and all the salt is pushing down
10:16 but it doesn't.
10:17 When you push pressure on that stick
10:19 and the stick is going down,
10:20 it puts pressure on every, every grain of salt
10:23 and that pushes all the pressure to the side,
10:26 to the side, that's where the pressure is going,
10:28 not straight down.
10:29 Is that cool or what?
10:30 Yes!
10:32 And that's interesting.
10:33 You know, that reminds me sometimes,
10:35 sometimes you and I feel a lot of pressure,
10:37 don't we on ourselves?
10:38 Yes!
10:39 Yes, sometimes we get all uptight
10:41 because things are just kind of going this way
10:42 and whatever, you're not too happy.
10:44 But you know what?
10:45 That pressure could hurt us, couldn't it?
10:46 Yes!
10:48 Just like that tissue paper, it could break right through.
10:49 But you know what?
10:51 God takes that pressure
10:52 and He puts it and He spreads that out,
10:55 so you and I can handle the pressure.
10:56 Don't you want to handle your pressures of life?
10:59 Yes! Oh, yeah.
11:00 And God can do that for us.
11:02 I think that is so cool.
11:04 I want you to try this at home
11:06 because you can do this and it's a neat experiment.
11:09 Now and every time we learn more about science,
11:11 we're learning more about our creator, God, that's right.
11:24 Connor! Geo!
11:25 I've been waiting for you for worship.
11:26 What happened? Where've you been?
11:29 We were just looking at the horses.
11:31 Yeah.
11:32 Well, we went around the place
11:34 and we saw them right there in front of us.
11:37 Yes.
11:38 Mr. Fong's horses? Yeah.
11:40 They are wonderful horses. What happened?
11:42 But then he started yelling at us for no reason.
11:46 What do you... Mr. Fong, he loves kids.
11:48 He's the kindest man I know.
11:50 What happened?
11:51 Well, we weren't trying to do anything wrong, we promise.
11:55 We were just looking at the horses.
11:57 Just a second boys, I've been waiting for a call.
11:59 Just...
12:02 Hello, this is Miss Brenda.
12:05 Mr. Fong. Oh, no!
12:09 Yes, the boys are here.
12:12 Was there any problem, Mr. Fong?
12:15 Oh!
12:18 Really? Oh, they are going to be so excited.
12:21 Oh, I'm sure they'd love it.
12:24 Oh, that's very sweet of you.
12:26 Yes, yes, I'll them.
12:28 I'm just getting ready to have worship with them though,
12:30 so could they come over in about ten minutes?
12:33 That sounds good.
12:34 By the way, did you get those brownies
12:36 I left for you yesterday?
12:38 Yes, my homemade recipe.
12:41 Oh, you're welcome,
12:42 I just wanted to thank you so much
12:44 for all your support of our kids network.
12:48 Yes, thank you so much.
12:50 God bless you too.
12:52 Uh-uh, I'll send them over when we're done.
12:53 Yes, uh-uh, buh-bye now.
12:57 Boys, that was Mr. Fong and guess what?
13:00 He wasn't yelling at you at all,
13:02 you boys didn't do anything wrong.
13:04 He wasn't yelling at you, you know what he was doing?
13:06 He was trying to call you over
13:07 because his horse just had a colt last night.
13:10 A baby colt, can you imagine?
13:12 Have you guys seen it, baby colt?
13:14 No!
13:15 He thought you would like to see it,
13:16 and so that's why he was calling you.
13:18 Isn't that awesome? Yeah!
13:20 I told him right after worship,
13:22 you guys can come over, all right?
13:23 Okay. Well, our story today...
13:25 It kind of ties in with this actually, boys.
13:28 Isn't God good how He does that?
13:29 I love how He does that,
13:31 because our story today is about Elisha.
13:34 I love Elisha!
13:35 Which one? Which story?
13:37 Well, it's the story of the Shunammite woman.
13:41 Remember? Yeah.
13:43 Long ago, there was a man named Elisha.
13:46 Now Elisha was a good man.
13:48 He loved the Lord,
13:50 and spent most of his days sharing that love with others.
13:54 During his many journeys,
13:55 he would often past through Shunem.
13:58 And in Shunem, there lived a woman
14:00 who had a great deal of respect for Elisha and his work.
14:04 Whenever he was there,
14:05 she would insist that he stay with her and her husband
14:08 to get some well-needed rest and a meal.
14:11 Seeing that Elisha was the man of God,
14:14 they decided to build an extra room for him,
14:16 so that whenever he found himself in Shunem,
14:19 he would have a bed to sleep in,
14:21 a table and a stool to sit at and food to eat.
14:27 Over the years, Elisha often found himself
14:30 a guest in their home.
14:31 To repay their kindness,
14:33 Elisha had asked what he could do for them.
14:36 Although they asked for nothing,
14:38 Elisha told them they would be blessed
14:40 with something they did not have, a son.
14:44 Proving God to be faithful, the very next year,
14:47 the woman and her husband had a baby boy.
14:51 Years passed, and the child grew strong.
14:55 When he was old enough,
14:56 he helped his father in the fields.
14:58 Until one day, the boy grew weary from the heat of the sun.
15:04 Father, I don't feel well.
15:09 My son! My son!
15:10 Servant, come quickly.
15:12 Take him to his mother.
15:19 What happened to my son?
15:21 When brought before his mother,
15:22 she had the servant bring him in to the house
15:25 where she held him as he sat on her knees.
15:32 Not long after, the little boy died in his mother's arms.
15:44 No.
15:47 In her distress, she placed her son on Elisha's bed
15:51 and went out to search for the prophet.
15:53 She knew she needed his help.
15:56 When Elisha saw her in the distance,
15:58 he sent his servant to meet her.
16:00 Oh! Look, there's my good friend from Shunem.
16:03 They are such gracious hosts.
16:06 Gehazi, go to her and bring her to me at once.
16:09 Thank you. Thank you.
16:19 Elisha! Woman, control yourself.
16:23 Gehazi, leave the woman alone.
16:25 Can't you see that she's deeply troubled?
16:28 The Lord hasn't spoke to me about it yet
16:30 but please, tell me what's wrong?
16:34 Is it your family?
16:35 My son is dead!
16:38 Gehazi, go quickly
16:40 and put my staff on the boy's face.
16:42 Right away prophet, I'll do. Thank you.
16:44 Elisha, I didn't come all the way here
16:47 to go back without you.
16:49 I can't leave your sight.
16:50 It's okay, go.
16:55 And so Gehazi, anxious to carry out his master's instructions,
16:59 reached the house first.
17:01 He did exactly as Elisha instructed
17:04 but his efforts had no effect on the boy.
17:11 Great prophet, the boy, he did not awaken.
17:16 It's okay, I will pray over him.
17:20 Let's go.
17:28 Heavenly Father, hear Your humble servant.
17:32 Breathe life back into this boy.
17:38 So what happened?
17:39 Was he healed?
17:40 Well, the Bible says that Elisha put his face
17:43 to the boy's face, his eye to the boy's eye,
17:47 and his hands upon the boy's hands
17:50 until he became warm.
17:52 Elisha did this one more time and then...
18:10 Gehazi, bring in the boy's mother.
18:17 Woman, take your son.
18:22 For a second time, the faith of the woman had been rewarded.
18:26 Through Elisha, God, the giver of all life
18:30 had restored her son.
18:32 You see boys, Elisha was known as a healer and a teacher,
18:36 and he spent his whole life spreading God's word
18:40 and he inspired others to do the same.
18:42 God will want us to spread the word too, right?
18:44 That's right, Geo.
18:46 Well, who knows, maybe someday I'd grow up to be a preacher?
18:49 Connor, you would be a wonderful preacher.
18:51 But God doesn't expect us
18:53 all to be preachers to witness for Him, does He?
18:55 We can witness to Him right now.
18:57 God wants all of us to be a witness for Him.
18:59 In fact, why don't we have prayer
19:01 and ask Jesus to come into our hearts and lives
19:03 and give us many opportunities to share Him?
19:06 And then after our prayer,
19:08 you boys can go on over to Mr. Fong's
19:10 and see the new baby colt.
19:12 Yeah.
19:13 Who would like to pray?
19:15 I will. Okay, Geo, you have our prayer.
19:19 Dear Jesus, thank You for the wonderful day
19:22 and thank You for everything You give us.
19:24 And thank You that Mr. Fong didn't get mad at us
19:27 and that we're gonna go and see the baby horse.
19:30 And help us be good witnesses for You.
19:33 We love You, dear Jesus.
19:34 Amen.
19:50 O Lord, my God
19:56 When I in awesome wonder
20:01 Consider all the worlds
20:07 Thy hands have made
20:12 I see the stars
20:17 I hear the rolling thunder
20:22 Thy power throughout
20:27 The universe displayed
20:33 Then sings my soul, my Savior God
20:40 To Thee
20:43 How great Thou art
20:48 How great Thou art
20:54 Then sings my soul, my Savior God
21:00 To Thee
21:04 How great Thou art
21:09 How great Thou art
21:14 How great Thou art
21:19 How great
21:22 Thou art
21:38 Hi, boys and girls,
21:39 it's time for Miss Brenda's Book of the Day!
21:43 And today's book, boys and girls,
21:45 is our none other than our pathfinder pin book.
21:49 I want to share with you today,
21:50 because today's program is all about our Pathfinder Camporee
21:54 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
21:56 And I have with us a pathfinder that was at Oshkosh.
22:01 Shayla, welcome to the program.
22:03 Hi, Miss Brenda.
22:04 Well, Shayla, I'm so glad you're here.
22:06 Let's show the boys and girls what's in our Book of the Day,
22:09 because I traded lots of pins with a lot of pathfinders
22:13 because pin trading is huge at Pathfinders, isn't it?
22:16 So why don't you help me hold this book right here?
22:18 And I want you to see some of the pins
22:21 that Miss Brenda traded at camporee, okay?
22:23 Well, see I've got the whole set of Michigan there
22:26 and thanks to my brother, Pastor Ken Micheff
22:30 who is the Youth Director there in Michigan.
22:32 And look, we have more conference pins, whole sets,
22:34 and then look at these.
22:36 You remember these spinners?
22:37 And so many spinners that they go
22:40 because they spin around, those are cool.
22:42 Mm-hmm. And then look at this one.
22:44 Can you see this?
22:45 Now that looks like a flat one but it's not,
22:47 look how it opens up.
22:50 That's really cool, isn't it?
22:51 I love that one.
22:53 And, oh, I had so much fun trading pins with all the kids.
22:57 Here's some from all the different states.
22:58 Look at all California,
23:00 that's quite a few really cool pins.
23:02 And then we have Nevada and...
23:05 This is the one I gave you.
23:06 Yes, you traded me that one, didn't you?
23:08 Mm-hmm.
23:10 And we had so much fun with that, then let's look...
23:12 Oh, here's Texas.
23:13 Texas had a lot of really cool pins.
23:16 They have ones every camporee, I love the ones from Texas.
23:20 And then we have some good ones from Tennessee,
23:23 and look at Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio
23:28 and look at this one right down here,
23:30 isn't that wonderful?
23:31 I like that one. Yup.
23:33 And more states over here...
23:34 We'll just flip through this really carefully.
23:36 We got some from Canada up there and also some...
23:40 Look at all these international ones.
23:41 And we just have more and more and more,
23:43 there's just not enough time to show them all.
23:45 We sure had a lot of fun at camporee,
23:47 trading pins, didn't we?
23:49 In fact, I should explain to boys and girls
23:51 that have never been to Pathfinders
23:53 or a Pathfinder Camporee, every club,
23:56 a pathfinder club, wherever you are,
23:57 has their own pin design and when they come to camporee,
24:00 which is only once every five years,
24:02 they get to trade that pin with someone else
24:05 and they all try to trade their different pins
24:07 and they have sets that they try to get,
24:09 and there's always the most popular pins
24:12 that everyone really wants.
24:13 And so everybody has got pins on them when they are trading,
24:15 so Miss Brenda did her fair share of trading right here,
24:19 and I want to thank all those pathfinders
24:21 that traded with me.
24:22 I also want to thank our 3ABN graphic designer
24:25 Chrystique Neibauer for creating this book
24:27 so that we can display them,
24:28 so I want to thank you for that.
24:30 And, Shayla, I want to ask you,
24:32 what was one of your highlights at Pathfinder Camporee?
24:36 Every night they showed Daniel in the lions' den
24:38 and it made it come alive.
24:40 Yes, and in the evening there was a program
24:44 that they had every night that they did a play.
24:46 And this year's theme was Forever Faithful.
24:50 And the story was about Daniel in the lions' den
24:52 and his faith that he had
24:53 that God would protect him in that lions' den.
24:55 I mean, what an example of the faith
24:57 God wants us to have.
24:59 So I love that theme, Forever Faithful,
25:01 and I know that the kids too, like you say,
25:04 it makes that story come to life.
25:06 And Betty Whitehead
25:07 is in charge of that play every year
25:09 and she did an incredible job so...
25:12 And I know it's tremendous amount of work.
25:14 Tell me, what else you did something special
25:18 with some of your pathfinders
25:19 when you were walking around
25:21 and in fact you called it R-A-P,
25:24 what does that stand for?
25:25 It stands for Random Acts of Prayer.
25:30 And tell me what that...
25:31 What you did for Random Acts of Prayer?
25:33 We went around and prayed with some people
25:36 and took pictures and sent them to them
25:38 so that they could see it.
25:39 Okay, so but you...
25:41 But the idea was to pray with people.
25:43 Did you ever ask them what they needed prayer for?
25:45 What they would like you to pray about?
25:47 Yes, sometimes.
25:49 Because it's important that we find out
25:51 what is it that we want to pray about.
25:54 Whenever someone says, "Will you pray for me?"
25:56 I say, boys and girls,
25:58 "What would you like me to pray for?"
25:59 Because I want to pray specifically to God.
26:03 Prayers are powerful tool that God gives us
26:06 to communicate directly with Him,
26:08 and there's a lot of power in prayer.
26:10 In fact, the privilege of prayer is always ours
26:12 and the power of prayer is always Gods.
26:15 Well, I'd really want to encourage boys and girls
26:17 everywhere to come to Pathfinder Camporee.
26:19 Join your pathfinder club and get a part of it,
26:22 it's an amazing organization and it's so fun,
26:26 and you get to meet lots of really cool kids
26:28 and do a lot of cool stuff.
26:30 I think it's...
26:31 Look at your Seventh-day Adventist church
26:33 and join your Pathfinder club today, won't you?
26:36 Thank you, Shayla, for joining us today.
26:38 I really appreciate you coming all the way here to Kids' Time
26:42 to tell us about camporee.
26:44 And, boys and girls, remember, wherever you go,
26:46 it's Kid's Time to share Jesus.
27:04 Kids' Time
27:26 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time
