00:01 It's almost time for Kids' Time.
00:03 We're going to be late. 00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:11 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Let's tell them 00:21 That He loves us so 00:24 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time, Kids' Time 00:28 Kids' Time 00:31 Hi, boys and girls. 00:32 I once heard a story about a young couple 00:34 who had a baby at home right during a great big storm. 00:39 They didn't expect to have their baby quite so soon, 00:42 and they certainly did not expect 00:44 a flood to come at the same time. 00:47 They were so happy when a little boat floated up 00:49 right beside their house 00:50 and carried them away to safety and dry land. 00:54 When the man in the boat said, "Get in," 00:56 they didn't have to think twice about it, 00:58 they almost jumped in that boat. 01:00 With all that water swirling around them, 01:02 they were not going to argue, and it made perfect sense. 01:06 Our story today is about a flood, a boat, 01:09 and a man who said, "Get in." 01:11 But not everyone believed him 01:13 because the waters were not swirling around them yet. 01:17 By the time they decided to get in, 01:20 it was too late. 01:22 I'll tell you all about it in just a little bit. 01:24 But first, it's time for our Nature Time. 01:35 Oh, hey, everyone. It's me Rich Aguilera. 01:37 I'm so happy to see you. 01:39 As usual, 01:40 I'm here taking some pictures of God's amazing nature. 01:44 It's everywhere. 01:46 You know, I love to learn about nature, 01:48 but not only learn about nature, 01:50 I love to play in nature, 01:51 the nature that God made for us. 01:54 You don't think He just made it for us to look at, do you? 01:57 No way. 01:59 He made it for us to eat, to play with, and to enjoy. 02:03 Just now, I was about to play, 02:06 do you want to come with me? 02:07 I was going to try surfing. 02:13 Of course, surfing wouldn't be possible 02:15 if it weren't for waves, which are part of nature, 02:18 and waves are formed by wind, 02:20 which are also a part of nature. 02:22 Enough talking, let's try surfing. 03:22 That was awesome. 03:24 But you know what it made me think of while I was surfing? 03:26 It made me think of all the creatures 03:28 that are in the water. 03:30 You know, I brought my snorkel with me, 03:32 why don't we go inside and take a look? 03:44 Check out these corals, they exist in so many colors. 03:48 Some people think corals are plants, 03:50 which make their own food, 03:52 but they're really animals which have to catch their food. 03:56 Coral is made up of thousands of tiny animals called polyps. 04:00 What are they called? 04:02 Polyps! 04:03 Yup, polyps. 04:08 Look at these guys, I guess they're a little shy. 04:17 These are sea urchins, they have a very spiny shell. 04:22 They move around very slowly, and they mostly feed on algae. 04:27 Hey, I found a starfish. 04:30 One of the neatest things about starfish 04:32 is that most species can regrow an arm if it's broken off. 04:37 I'll definitely be careful holding this one. 04:41 Fish in the ocean are plentiful. 04:43 It's neat when they travel around 04:45 in groups called schools. 04:47 What are their groups called? 04:48 Schools! Yup, schools. 04:51 Here's my son, Alex, 04:53 playing around with a school of fish. 05:04 One of the funniest things to do 05:05 is to bring a little piece of bread 05:07 and feed it to the fish, and they're shy at first, 05:11 but then they get close and enjoy the feast. 05:17 Look, I'm following the green sea turtle, 05:20 and they're great swimmers 05:21 since they have those big paddle-like fins. 05:29 Manta rays look like they're flying in the water. 05:32 They cruise along with their mouths open 05:34 because they eat plankton. 05:36 Unlike the stingray, manta rays don't have a stinger, 05:40 and they can grow to be about 25 feet across. 05:43 Wow! 05:45 Do you remember what these giant creatures are called? 05:48 Manta rays! 05:49 That's right. 05:50 Manta rays. 05:56 Well, I've had a ton of fun checking out the waters here. 05:59 I'm always amazed at what I see. 06:01 There's so much variety, 06:03 and that's why I take lots of pictures. 06:06 Taking pictures is a great way 06:08 to remember all of the stuff we've learned. 06:10 If you want to see my pictures, you can. 06:12 Just go to our website at www.KidsTime4Jesus.org 06:16 and click on Nature Time. 06:18 By the way, if you ever get a chance, 06:21 I hope you get in the water 06:22 and check out that whole other world in there. 06:25 Remember, God is the Creator, nature is His masterpiece. 06:30 See you. 06:37 Welcome to Learning Time. I'm glad you joined us today. 06:41 And we are, again, at a very special place. 06:44 Where are we? 06:45 Oshkosh! 06:46 We are at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and we're here 06:49 at the International Pathfinder Camporee, 06:51 and there's over 40,000 campers here. 06:54 Are you guys having fun camping? 06:56 Yeah! 06:58 Well, how many of you like science here? 07:00 Anybody like science? Oh, I do too. 07:02 Today, we're going to do some science experiments. 07:04 And, you know, this experiment, 07:05 you can do at home and this is really exciting. 07:07 And I've got three helpers, I want to ask them 07:10 what their name is and where are they from. 07:12 So can you tell us? 07:14 My name is Terran, and I'm from Tennessee. 07:16 Hey, thanks for joining us today. 07:18 And you are? 07:19 Jeffrey, and I'm from New Mexico. 07:21 Great. And? 07:23 My name is Aiden, and I am from Tennessee. 07:25 Great, I appreciate all of you coming today. 07:28 Now what we're going to do is 07:29 we're going to try to make a rainbow. 07:30 Have you ever made a rainbow... 07:32 Who's made a rainbow before? 07:34 Well, here's a very simple way of making a rainbow, 07:36 and there's a lot of science in that. 07:37 So in order to do this, 07:38 we're going to need something like this. 07:40 What is this thing right here? 07:42 A milk carton. Okay, it's a carton, right? 07:43 It's a carton, okay? 07:45 And so what you do is you take the top off, 07:47 kind of like what I did right here, okay? 07:49 And then you have this little like a trough kind of thing. 07:52 And then what you're going to need 07:53 is you're going to need a little mirror. 07:55 And so we're going to put the mirror 07:56 right inside of our milk carton just like that. 07:59 Can you see what that is? Very simple to do. 08:00 And then we're going... 08:02 And you're going to need to put water in here. 08:04 And that's what we have over there. 08:05 So let's see if we can see these rainbows. 08:07 So let's see. 08:09 Let me get my three helpers with the white shirts 08:10 on get over there, over here. 08:12 And I'm going to come over here too, okay? 08:14 Can you join me over here? Come on over here. 08:16 All right, and I want you to come way down here, 08:17 way back over here, and stand in front of this one. 08:20 Here, move over here. Stand in front of this one. 08:22 You can stand in front of this one, 08:24 this one, this one. 08:25 Can you stand in front of this one? 08:26 Okay, and then I want all the rest of you. 08:28 Can you kind of get behind them 08:30 but about four, five feet behind them? 08:33 Okay, give some space right there, okay. 08:35 I want you to hang on to this board for me 08:37 just like that. 08:38 You got that? One, two, three, four, five... 08:40 Can you hold this for me, dear? 08:41 Right over here. 08:42 Hold this one just about right here. 08:44 And then what we're going to do 08:45 is we're going to try to get some of that sunlight 08:49 to focus right through the water. 08:51 Now the water... 08:52 What the water does is the water bends 08:54 or diffracts the light, that white light from the sun. 08:57 And so that out ought to break that white light 08:59 up into the spectrum colors of the rainbow. 09:02 So I want you to move back, 09:03 move back until you can see a rainbow on your... 09:06 Move back some more back. you're too close. 09:08 Keep going, keep going. And until... 09:11 Oh, you're just about putting that out. 09:13 Are you getting one over here? Let's see what we've got? 09:15 Oh, we're getting a rainbow over there, 09:16 we're getting a rainbow over there. 09:18 And what do we have over here? We got one right... 09:20 Hey, look at there. 09:21 Can you see that one on his shirt? 09:23 He's got a big one on his shirt over there. 09:25 Let's see if we can get another one focused over here, 09:27 and it's kind of hard sometimes to get that all worked out. 09:29 Let's see what we've got. 09:31 Oh, there is another one being focused over there. 09:33 Oh, and you got one already focused on you 09:34 just about like that. 09:36 Drop down your paper down a little bit 09:37 so we can see all of that. 09:39 Can you see those rainbows? That's interesting, isn't it? 09:42 All of that colors, 09:43 all those colors are present in the white light, 09:46 but we can't see it until we break it up to a prism. 09:48 Now we've got a big one over here. 09:50 I want my three white-shirted friends to come over here 09:53 and stand right in front of this one right here. 09:54 Here we go, back up a little bit. 09:56 Let's see if we can focus that... 09:58 There you go, back up some more, 09:59 back up some more, so we can see yours a little bit better. 10:02 Now that is interesting. 10:03 Now there was a man that lived a long time ago, 10:05 and his name was Sir Isaac, who? 10:07 Newton! Newton. 10:09 What Newton did was he thought that white light contained 10:11 all of the colors of the rainbow. 10:13 And so he did some of these kinds of experiments, 10:16 and he broke up the white light 10:17 by diffracting it, by using a lens or a prism. 10:20 And it turned out to be all of those particular colors. 10:23 Wow! And so God made 10:25 all of those colors in the rainbow. 10:27 But when you and I see that sunlight, 10:29 it's called white light, 10:30 even though the sun might look yellow to us, 10:32 it's still considered to be white light. 10:34 And all of the colors that you and I see right now... 10:37 Look at your shirts, 10:38 all of the colors happen to come from the sun. 10:42 And then what we're wearing actually kind of reflects 10:44 just that wavelength of color into our eyes, 10:47 isn't that the coolest thing? 10:48 Isn't that the coolest thing? 10:50 Yeah! That is really cool. 10:53 And every time we learn more about science, 10:55 we learn more about our Creator, God. 11:07 This project is so boring. 11:10 Who cares about maps and navigation? 11:12 I wish I had something cool like this, Under the Sea, 11:17 I've always dreamed of being a scuba diver 11:19 and learning about the animals and the coral. 11:21 Oh, that would be so awesome. 11:24 I wish. 11:25 You think maps and navigation is boring, 11:28 look at what I have, it's war. 11:31 I just do not like war, 11:33 it's all about killing and shooting. 11:35 And that's just not my thing. 11:37 I wish I had something better, like boats. 11:40 I love boats, especially riding on them, it's so fun. 11:44 Hey, girls, did I hear you say you like boats? 11:46 Yeah. Come on over here. 11:48 Let me show you what a great big boat 11:49 I have right here. 11:51 Look at this one right here. 11:52 Whoa! Whoa! 11:54 Isn't that a ship? You're right. 11:56 They call boats this big a ship. 11:59 And look at... 12:00 It was a very famous ship in fact. 12:03 Isn't it the Titanic? 12:05 You're right, Jennifer. It's the Titanic. 12:07 And do you know what they said about this boat, Aubrey? 12:09 No. 12:10 They said the ship was unsinkable. 12:13 Oh! But they were wrong. 12:15 Because sadly this ship sink. 12:18 Do you want to hear more about it? 12:20 Yes! Yes! Come sit down, I'll tell you. 12:21 It's really a sad story. 12:24 On its very first voyage, 12:26 the Titanic hit an extremely large iceberg 12:29 that tore into the side of the ship. 12:32 And as the water just started pouring in, people panicked. 12:36 Oh, no. 12:37 Many actually though didn't even believe it would sink. 12:38 I mean, after all they were on the Titanic. 12:41 But sadly, it did sink. 12:42 And a very few people survived. 12:46 Do you know if there would have just been more lifeboats, 12:49 more people would have survived, 12:51 but there wasn't enough. 12:52 And only a very few people lived. 12:55 It's a terrible tragedy. 12:57 But, you know, that kind of reminds me 12:58 of another story about a lifeboat. 13:01 In fact, it was one of the biggest lifeboats 13:04 that ever was, it was called the Ark. 13:07 Oh, I love that story. I do too. 13:10 Because, you know, long ago, despite the sin 13:13 that was slowly creeping into men's hearts, 13:15 the earth enjoyed the highest of God's blessings. 13:17 In fact, the people lived to be hundreds of years old. 13:20 Can you imagine? 13:22 We don't live to be that old nowadays, do we? 13:25 And, in fact, the sweetest fruit 13:27 on the trees grew, 13:28 and they would had the most enormous trees, 13:31 really tall trees, and the plains 13:33 and hills were covered 13:34 with gorgeous, beautiful wild flowers. 13:38 Sadly, it seemed that nothing could stop sin 13:41 from creeping into the hearts of God's people. 13:44 Don't you know that made God sad? 13:47 However, Noah and his family chose to stay faithful. 13:53 Hey, stop! 13:55 Stop! Stop! That's my money. 13:56 Get him! Get him! Get our money. 13:59 Are you all right, son? Yes, Father. Yes, Father. 14:01 Oh, let me help... Just a little shaken up. 14:04 Sit here, sit on the rock. 14:06 Sit on the rock. Thank you, Father. 14:07 I couldn't catch him. He got away with the money. 14:10 Oh, it's only money. 14:15 I know this is not what God intended 14:17 when He made us. 14:18 What has happened to our city and our people? 14:23 The thievery, the selfishness. 14:28 This is not what our God intends for us. 14:32 It's worse than that, people have lost sight of God. 14:39 What is our world coming to? 14:46 Are you okay, brother? Yes. 14:48 Yes, I'm just a little banged out, 14:49 but I'll be okay. 14:50 You need help getting home? 14:52 Yes, please, please. 14:53 We must be going. 14:56 You boys go on ahead and check on him. 15:00 I have errands that I must return to. 15:03 Yes, Father. Yes, Father. 15:04 Now be safe. We'll see you soon, Father. 15:16 Knowing that the growing wickedness in the world 15:18 must be stopped, God sent an angel to Noah 15:21 to instruct him to build a great ship 15:24 that would carry those 15:25 who remained faithful to safety. 15:32 According to God's instruction, Noah began building the Ark 15:36 and warning the people of what was to come. 15:38 Father, how much gopher wood are we going to need? 15:43 Japheth, give me a bit of time, I'm working on it just now. 15:57 Noah, pardon me. 16:00 Won't you have some of this bread I just baked? 16:02 It's still warm. 16:03 Oh, you are a good wife, but I must figure out 16:07 how much gopher wood Japheth needs this week. 16:11 I understand. How are the plans coming? 16:14 It's coming along good, 16:15 but there's so much more to be done. 16:18 For over 100 years, Noah, his family, 16:22 and his crew worked day and night to prepare the Ark. 16:26 They did their best to preach the people to surrender to God. 16:30 But their words were ignored. 16:33 Most of them thought that he was crazy. 16:37 Oh, my husband, I pray for their conversion. 16:40 Yes, sure. 16:41 I pray that they'll come on the Ark. 16:43 Praying, right? Praying. 16:46 May I? May I? 16:52 We must pray that God will change their hearts. 16:54 Amen. 16:55 So they can join us and be saved. 16:57 Hey, Noah, where is the rain? 17:01 What happened next? Yes, tell us. 17:04 Well, the ark was so big, 17:06 it was large enough to hold Noah, his family, 17:09 and anyone else who was willing to get on board. 17:12 You see God was really concerned about 17:14 saving mankind, 17:16 but He also wanted to save the animals. 17:18 He wanted to make sure that every species of animals 17:21 was on board. 17:22 You would think the people would have changed their mind 17:24 when they saw all those wild animals 17:26 of every kind just walked in two by two 17:28 into the Ark, wouldn't you? 17:30 Really? 17:31 So Noah didn't have to chase the men? 17:33 No, rather it was the angels who led them into the Ark. 17:38 And they went in two by two, 17:40 a male and a female of each species, 17:43 all except for the ones that were considered clean. 17:46 The clean animals went in by sevens 17:49 because God knew that after the flood, 17:52 Noah and his family would need livestock to survive. 17:54 There wasn't any plants 17:56 or vegetables or fruits growing, was there? 17:59 No. No. 18:00 Miss Brenda, did anyone else decide 18:02 to go on the Ark with Noah? 18:03 Jennifer, sadly, no. 18:05 Only Noah, his wife, three sons, and their wives, 18:09 everyone else was too blinded by sin to believe. 18:13 And by the time they actually chose to believe, 18:16 it was too late. 18:19 In fact, God had given them the choice of either 18:21 to get on the Ark or not, 18:24 but once He closed the door, their decision was final. 18:29 Did it start raining? No, it didn't. 18:32 Not yet, it actually took seven days 18:35 for the rain to start. 18:36 I bet the people starting laughing at Noah 18:38 when he got on board, and it didn't start to rain. 18:41 You're right, Jennifer. 18:42 In fact, they made fun of him 18:43 and really just thought 18:45 he was the craziest man ever. 18:47 Especially, when the covering was placed over the Ark, 18:50 but then, it happened. 18:54 On the eighth day, clouds covered the sky 18:57 for the very first time. 18:59 Lightning flashed 19:00 and drops of rain poured from the sky. 19:03 A thunderous crack was heard 19:05 and water began to shoot out of the earth. 19:08 The people's laughter turned to screams of fear. 19:12 The earth would never be the same again. 19:17 It was too late for the people, right? 19:19 Instead of laughing at Noah, they should've listened. 19:22 That's right, Aubrey. They all perished in the flood. 19:26 But God protected Noah 19:27 and his family for being faithful. 19:30 Isn't God good? Yes. 19:32 But after several months of waiting 19:34 for the waters to go down, 19:36 Noah sent a raven out to scout ahead to see 19:39 if he could find any kind of sign of dry land, 19:42 but he found nowhere the land at all. 19:45 Still holding on to faith, 19:47 Noah released a dove but still nothing. 19:52 Noah waited seven more days. Seven? 19:55 Yes, seven more days. 19:57 And then he sent out the dove again. 19:59 But this time, he returned 20:01 with a small olive branch in his mouth. 20:04 The bird finally found land. Yes, that's right, Jennifer. 20:09 Soon after leaving the Ark, Noah, do you know what he did? 20:12 What? 20:13 He built an altar and offered to God 20:15 some of the clean animals. 20:18 Father, we thank you for Your faithfulness. 20:21 You have delivered us from the rain 20:24 and from the floods, 20:25 and we are here and our hearts rejoice. 20:28 Noah and his family rejoiced for they found themselves 20:32 once again on solid ground. 20:34 But they did not forget to give God thanks. 20:38 This pleased God, 20:39 and He blessed Noah's family promising 20:42 that He would never again 20:44 destroy the earth with the flood. 20:46 Good. 20:47 And, in fact, He gave us the rainbow 20:49 as a special sign of His promise. 20:51 So, girls, every time you see the rainbow, 20:54 remember God's promise.
