Florida Everglades. 00:01:50.67\00:01:53.94 That's right. The Florida Everglades. 00:01:53.98\00:01:56.85 This place is a very unique place 00:01:56.88\00:01:58.78 because it is a very large area of very shallow water. 00:01:58.81\00:02:03.75 This place is found 00:02:03.79\00:02:05.15 in the southern half of Florida. 00:02:05.19\00:02:07.66 Now in the wet season, 00:02:07.69\00:02:09.49 this place gets really interesting 00:02:09.52\00:02:11.09 because it's basically a 60-mile wide river slowly 00:02:11.13\00:02:15.50 making its way south. 00:02:15.53\00:02:18.20 Wow! It's a pretty big area. 00:02:18.23\00:02:20.47 Let's go check it out. 00:02:20.50\00:02:21.84 One of the first things 00:02:26.27\00:02:27.61 you'll probably notice here in the Everglades 00:02:27.64\00:02:29.84 is this grassy stuff, 00:02:29.88\00:02:31.75 it's actually called a sawgrass marsh. 00:02:31.78\00:02:35.25 What's it called? Sawgrass marsh! 00:02:35.28\00:02:38.05 That's right, a sawgrass marsh. 00:02:38.09\00:02:40.69 The sawgrass marsh 00:02:40.72\00:02:42.26 is the main feature here in the Everglades. 00:02:42.29\00:02:44.79 It goes on for miles. 00:02:44.83\00:02:47.00 I'm going to take a picture. 00:02:47.03\00:02:48.36 There's one plant 00:02:55.07\00:02:56.40 that we see a lot of here in the Everglades, 00:02:56.44\00:02:58.74 it's called the mangroves. 00:02:58.77\00:03:00.78 What are they called? Mangroves! 00:03:00.81\00:03:03.18 That's right. Mangroves. 00:03:03.21\00:03:06.01 Here's a bunch right here. 00:03:06.05\00:03:08.22 Mangroves are pretty interesting plants, 00:03:08.25\00:03:10.72 and they're very tough too. 00:03:10.75\00:03:14.86 They can survive in drastic water level changes. 00:03:14.89\00:03:18.03 Parts of the year the water level is high, 00:03:18.06\00:03:20.33 other times it's low. 00:03:20.36\00:03:21.96 Plus, they can live in salt water, 00:03:22.00\00:03:23.73 fresh water, or brackish water. 00:03:23.77\00:03:26.23 Brackish water is a mix of salt water and fresh water. 00:03:26.27\00:03:30.34 What's the name of the mix between fresh and salt water? 00:03:30.37\00:03:33.64 Brackish water! That's right. 00:03:33.68\00:03:35.88 Brackish water. 00:03:35.91\00:03:37.81 Wow, these plants are pretty flexible. 00:03:37.85\00:03:41.75 One of the coolest features are their roots. 00:03:41.78\00:03:45.19 They look like stilts that are helping them stand up 00:03:45.22\00:03:47.69 really high up out of the water. 00:03:47.72\00:03:49.76 This helps them handle 00:03:49.79\00:03:51.13 when the water level is too high or too low. 00:03:51.16\00:03:54.53 Cool, I've got to take a picture of this. 00:03:54.56\00:03:59.50 As you can imagine, 00:03:59.53\00:04:00.87 there are lots of little critters 00:04:00.90\00:04:02.24 and creatures that live here in the Everglades. 00:04:02.27\00:04:04.37 And one of the most famous is probably the alligator. 00:04:04.41\00:04:08.38 Ever wondered why they seem to always be laying around, 00:04:12.75\00:04:16.08 they can't control their body temperature internally 00:04:16.12\00:04:18.92 so when they're cold, they lay in the sun, 00:04:18.95\00:04:21.22 and when they're hot, they go for a swim. 00:04:21.26\00:04:23.89 The rest of the time, 00:04:23.93\00:04:25.26 I guess they're just taking it easy. 00:04:25.29\00:04:26.66 You know, there is a really good way 00:04:29.83\00:04:31.87 to get a good look at the Florida Everglades, 00:04:31.90\00:04:34.47 it is by airboat. 00:04:34.50\00:04:36.47 It's a special boat that is designed to go 00:04:36.50\00:04:39.51 in very shallow water 00:04:39.54\00:04:40.91 and on the back it has a giant fan. 00:04:40.94\00:04:43.68 Come on, let's go ride one. 00:04:43.71\00:04:45.05 Here it is, let's get on. 00:04:46.95\00:04:48.28 Wow, look at all these mangroves. 00:05:31.26\00:05:33.50 You know, taking pictures is a great way 00:06:01.52\00:06:03.89 to remember all of the stuff that we have learned. 00:06:03.93\00:06:06.80 Hey, you want to see my pictures? 00:06:06.83\00:06:08.23 You can. 00:06:08.26\00:06:09.60 Just go to our website at KidsTime4Jesus.org 00:06:09.63\00:06:13.64 and click on Nature Time. 00:06:13.67\00:06:15.64 There's a bunch of cool stuff to see there. 00:06:15.67\00:06:18.14 Well, I have had a lot of fun learning 00:06:18.17\00:06:20.48 about the Everglades here with you today. 00:06:20.51\00:06:23.21 Remember, God is the Creator, nature is His masterpiece. 00:06:23.24\00:06:28.58 See you next time. 00:06:28.62\00:06:29.98 Welcome to Learning Time. There you go. 00:23:01.81\00:23:04.51 And so what are you going to tell me about these books? 00:23:04.55\00:23:09.18 Why should I read them? 00:23:09.22\00:23:10.85 Okay, so like I might say for this one 00:23:10.89\00:23:12.35 I would say Peace Above the Storm offers freedom 00:23:12.39\00:23:14.59 from some things like stress, worry, guilt, and fear. 00:23:14.62\00:23:17.39 And it's a step by step guide to not only gaining 00:23:17.43\00:23:19.39 but also maintaining 00:23:19.43\00:23:20.76 a living relationship with Jesus. 00:23:20.80\00:23:22.56 And then I might tell you 00:23:22.60\00:23:23.93 how it's one of my favorite books 00:23:23.97\00:23:25.53 and some of the different things 00:23:25.57\00:23:26.90 that I like in there and things like that. 00:23:26.94\00:23:28.57 And have you read it? Yes, I have. 00:23:28.60\00:23:30.71 That's good. 00:23:30.74\00:23:32.07 So tell me, have you had any wonderful experiences? 00:23:32.11\00:23:34.28 I mean, going door-to-door, meeting a lot of people, 00:23:34.31\00:23:36.48 you must have a lot of opportunities to witness. 00:23:36.51\00:23:39.01 Yeah, a lot of times we have divine appointments 00:23:39.05\00:23:41.15 where God will set up a meeting 00:23:41.18\00:23:43.42 where we wouldn't normally have been there at that time 00:23:43.45\00:23:46.09 to be able to help that person. 00:23:46.12\00:23:48.59 It's like one time, 00:23:48.62\00:23:50.53 I had a book with me that got damaged, 00:23:50.56\00:23:52.93 I put some ice in the bag with it, 00:23:52.96\00:23:55.13 and it damaged the cover. 00:23:55.16\00:23:56.60 And I was upset because I thought 00:23:56.63\00:23:58.33 maybe I would have to pay for this... 00:23:58.37\00:23:59.70 Now you wouldn't have 00:23:59.73\00:24:01.07 just thrown ice in your bags so... 00:24:01.10\00:24:02.44 No, it was in a cup and... 00:24:02.47\00:24:03.81 So you had some ice in a cup 00:24:03.84\00:24:05.51 and the cup maybe condensation or... 00:24:05.54\00:24:07.98 And it damaged 00:24:08.01\00:24:09.41 some of the books since they got wet. 00:24:09.44\00:24:11.11 That wasn't intentional. Oh, no. 00:24:11.15\00:24:12.81 No. So what happened? 00:24:12.85\00:24:15.08 So then I was totting, 00:24:15.12\00:24:16.45 and then I wasn't selling anything. 00:24:16.48\00:24:17.82 And normally at the end of the day, 00:24:17.85\00:24:19.42 you aren't allowed to go into houses 00:24:19.45\00:24:20.79 just because they need to find you 00:24:20.82\00:24:22.32 and stuff like that for pick up. 00:24:22.36\00:24:24.26 And they'd come and bring you back. 00:24:24.29\00:24:25.96 And so I knocked on this store 00:24:25.99\00:24:29.66 and there was this guy that came out, 00:24:29.70\00:24:31.30 and he was like, 00:24:31.33\00:24:32.67 "Well, my wife is unable to come out, 00:24:32.70\00:24:34.04 just come in 00:24:34.07\00:24:35.40 and that you can show it to her." 00:24:35.44\00:24:38.31 And so I then, totally forgetting 00:24:38.34\00:24:41.08 I wasn't supposed to go in a house. 00:24:41.11\00:24:42.44 Yes. So I just walked right in. 00:24:42.48\00:24:43.81 And I was showing them 00:24:43.85\00:24:45.18 the books, and they were really, 00:24:45.21\00:24:46.55 really interested, but they didn't have any money. 00:24:46.58\00:24:47.92 And so I'm like, 00:24:47.95\00:24:49.28 "Well, maybe if I show them this book, 00:24:49.32\00:24:51.49 then I could give it to them for a discount, 00:24:51.52\00:24:53.62 and they would be able to get it. 00:24:53.66\00:24:55.52 And so I showed it to them, they were really excited, 00:24:55.56\00:24:57.33 and then he ran all over the house searching 00:24:57.36\00:24:59.13 and found some coins here and there 00:24:59.16\00:25:00.66 and they were able to buy the book, 00:25:00.70\00:25:02.03 and it was really special. 00:25:02.06\00:25:03.63 And I was able to pray with them and... 00:25:03.67\00:25:05.00 What a wonderful lesson, boys and girls, 00:25:05.03\00:25:07.04 about how God can take anything 00:25:07.07\00:25:09.27 even our mistakes and turn them 00:25:09.30\00:25:11.24 into something good. 00:25:11.27\00:25:12.61 And in this case, God took the damaged book, 00:25:12.64\00:25:16.21 and they had it not been damaged 00:25:16.24\00:25:17.58 they probably wouldn't have been able to afford it. 00:25:17.61\00:25:18.95 Yes. 00:25:18.98\00:25:20.32 So I love it when God works things 00:25:20.35\00:25:22.05 out that way. 00:25:22.08\00:25:23.42 Have you had any opportunities to pray with people? 00:25:23.45\00:25:26.22 Yes, we try to pray with people at every door. 00:25:26.25\00:25:28.99 A lot of times and a lot of times, 00:25:29.02\00:25:30.36 they'll just tell us 00:25:30.39\00:25:31.73 how, you know, we're just angels sent 00:25:31.76\00:25:33.09 from God to them 00:25:33.13\00:25:34.46 and how much they enjoyed and appreciated. 00:25:34.50\00:25:36.00 And so it's really... 00:25:36.03\00:25:37.37 It's a blessing to be able to pray with the people. 00:25:37.40\00:25:38.73 Praise the Lord. 00:25:38.77\00:25:40.10 And what's your... 00:25:40.14\00:25:41.47 I guess, I want to ask Kaitlyn this, 00:25:41.50\00:25:42.90 what is your most, um... 00:25:42.94\00:25:46.14 I guess... 00:25:46.17\00:25:47.51 What do you find most rewarding about doing 00:25:47.54\00:25:49.54 what you mega booking? 00:25:49.58\00:25:51.65 I think it's the people, 00:25:51.68\00:25:53.01 seeing their faces as they accept the books 00:25:53.05\00:25:56.45 and seeing them come to the church and things, 00:25:56.48\00:25:58.69 you know, you hear about it. 00:25:58.72\00:26:00.06 And it's a lot of... 00:26:00.09\00:26:01.42 And if somebody... 00:26:01.46\00:26:02.79 Would you encourage someone else to do the same? 00:26:02.82\00:26:05.29 Yes, it's really, really rewarding. 00:26:05.33\00:26:07.43 Well, boys and girls, 00:26:07.46\00:26:08.80 I want to encourage you to share Jesus. 00:26:08.83\00:26:10.63 Thank you, Kaitlyn, 00:26:10.67\00:26:12.00 for coming and telling us about it today. 00:26:12.03\00:26:13.77 Remember, boys and girls, wherever you go, 00:26:13.80\00:26:15.80 whatever you do 00:26:15.84\00:26:17.17 it's Kids' Time to share Jesus. 00:26:17.21\00:26:20.61 Kids' Time 00:26:39.56\00:26:41.50 Kids' Time, Kids' Time 00:27:02.35\00:27:04.39 Kids' Time, Kids' Time Kids' Time 00:27:04.42\00:27:08.39 Kids' Time 00:27:10.36\00:27:12.93
