00:01 It's almost time for "Kids' Time."
00:02 We're gonna be late. 00:04 It's time to share, there's a world out there 00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:11 It's time to share, there's a world out there 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:24 Kids' time Kids' time Kids' time Kids' time 00:31 Hi, boys and girls. 00:32 I've heard lots of wonderful stories in my life. 00:35 Some of my favorite stories are about 00:37 how God provided things for people right 00:39 when they needed them the most. 00:41 Sometimes they were hungry. 00:43 When they open the door, 00:44 a bag of food was right on their doorstep. 00:46 Other times they needed money to pay a bill 00:48 or to travel somewhere 00:50 and all they had to do was open the mail 00:51 and a check for just the right amount of money was inside. 00:55 I've had many prayers like that answered in my life, 00:58 too many times to even count. 01:00 You see, boys and girls, 01:02 God has promised to take care of His children 01:04 and He always keeps His promises. 01:07 Sometimes He sends what we need even before we ask. 01:10 You won't want to miss our exciting Bible story today. 01:13 We'll hear all about how God took care of Elijah 01:16 by brining him a very special delivery. 01:20 Well, boys and girls, God will take care of your needs, too. 01:24 All you have to do is trust Him and you'll see. 01:27 But right now we're going to get ready for "Nature Time." 01:37 Hey, boys and girls, welcome to Nature Time. 01:39 I'm so excited, 'cause we're on the Grand Cayman Islands. 01:42 A dolphin discovery 01:44 and we're gonna be talking about dolphins. 01:46 We have the general manager here with us Carlos. 01:48 And we are going to ask him a lot of questions. 01:50 He knows a lot about dolphins. Let's go. 01:58 Carlos, it's so good to have you here. 01:59 You've been with dolphins for over 10 years. 02:02 That's a long time and you haven't been bored yet. 02:05 No, no, no, there's always things 02:07 to learn about these wonderful animals. 02:10 Well, yeah, I've been watching them in the background here. 02:11 And this is a huge pool and sometimes people think 02:15 that you're cooping these animals up, 02:17 but you was telling me that this is not your normal pool. 02:20 Well, actually you can tell it looks like a pool, 02:23 but in the bottom its sandy, rocky, there is a lot of life. 02:27 We have crabs, we have different species of fishes live in there. 02:31 So they think they are in the regular habitat right here. 02:34 And protected and secure 02:35 and that's what we all want, right. 02:37 That's neat. Now I have a question about dolphins. 02:39 To me they're just a big fish, 02:41 but you were telling me they're a mammal. 02:42 What's the difference? 02:44 Well, the difference is the movement on the tail. 02:46 Okay, the tail goes up and down, so that-- 02:49 Instead of side to side like the fish. They'll have scales. 02:52 They have a blow hole, they breathe air. 02:55 So then they have to hold the breath 02:57 under the water unlike fish. Correct. 03:00 Their breathing is voluntary. Okay. 03:01 They can hold their breath up to from 8 to 12 minutes if they-- 03:04 That's a long time. It's a long time. 03:06 They have a very large lung capacity. 03:09 And they also their babies are on the womb. 03:14 And they are warm blooded 03:16 and different than a fish that is cold blooded. 03:18 Okay, now this is something that really has amazed me. 03:22 Sometime people have said that 03:23 Dwight you're only using half of your brain, 03:26 but dolphins actually shutdown half of their brain. 03:29 What do they do that for? That's amazing. 03:31 Well, you know, like you and I when we go to bed. 03:34 We don't need to think, I need to keep breathing to live. 03:36 Well, they do. Their breathing is conscious. 03:39 So they only can shut half of their brain through rest 03:42 and gain some energy back, 03:44 but the other half stays alert and awake, 03:47 so they can keep coming out to the surface and breath. 03:50 So you mean, while they are sleeping 03:52 with only half of their brain working, 03:54 they're actually still swimming the whole time all night long. 03:57 Yes, and actually you can see that they have one eye close 04:00 and the other one is just open. 04:02 Now do they switch their brains or is it always the same half. 04:05 No, no, no, they switch. 04:07 Imagine that, kids, they switch their brains. 04:09 Now, but and they come up, 'cause they still breath 04:12 while they are sleeping and swim. 04:14 Yes, yes, they usually swim in patterns. 04:18 Okay, you can tell because the times they come to breathe 04:20 is usually the same, at the same time. 04:23 Okay, now one other question, I've heard, 04:25 I've seen a lot of things done with dolphins, 04:28 they must be fairly smart. 04:30 Well, they're very smart and intelligent. 04:33 One of the only few animals 04:34 that can recognize themselves in the mirror. 04:36 And you can put a mirror 04:37 they know-- They know themselves. 04:39 They don't sight another dolphin. Correct. 04:40 And they don't scare themselves by seeing themselves. 04:42 Oh, no, no, they are quite amazed, you know. 04:44 That's amazing. So what else now they swim. 04:47 Are they very fast? Can they swim? 04:49 I mean, to me they look fast. I can't swim that fast. 04:51 Yeah, they can swim from 04:53 up to 25 miles per hour in short distance. 04:55 Wow, that is fast, kids. 04:58 So what else do they do now, they swim. 05:00 Now how high have they ever jumped? 05:02 I've seen them jump pretty high. 05:03 Well, it depends on how the-- how strong the dolphin is, 05:06 but really they can go, I don't know, 05:08 10 feet above the pool. Ten feet. 05:12 Man, if I can jump a foot, I'd be pretty good right now. 05:14 Yeah, there you are. That's tremendous. 05:16 Okay, now as they swim, do they recognize each other 05:21 also besides themselves in the mirror? 05:23 Do they know their other friends dolphins? 05:25 Well, yes, you know, since they're born 05:27 each dolphin has a signature, you know, like their name, 05:32 they make like a whistle that is unique to them. 05:34 So they can recognize themselves. 05:37 That is tremendous. 05:38 Well, Carlos, I tell you what, I am so excited about dolphins. 05:41 I've learned more than I ever have about dolphins. 05:44 And, Carlos, after being here 10 years, 05:47 it sounds like you know awful lot about dolphins. 05:50 And there is more to learn everyday. 05:51 Everyday there is more to learn. 05:53 Well, remember, kids, nature is God's second book, 05:56 so get out there and take a look. 05:58 Carlos, let's go and do some more tricks 05:59 with these dolphins. Let's go. 06:01 Let's go. All right. 06:21 I have a Maker 06:27 He formed my heart 06:33 Before even time began 06:38 My life was in his hands 06:46 He knows my name 06:52 He knows my every thought 06:58 He sees each tear that falls 07:03 And He hears me when I call 07:10 I have a Father 07:16 He calls me His own 07:22 He'll never leave me 07:27 No matter where I go 07:35 He knows my name 07:41 He knows my every thought 07:47 He sees each tear that falls 07:52 And He hears me when I call 07:59 And He hears me when I call 08:11 It's Learning Time. It's Learning Time. 08:13 Hey, thanks for joining us today for Learning Time. 08:16 And hey, we've got some interesting things on the table. 08:18 Looks like we're gonna have breakfast, right? Yeah. 08:20 Yeah, well, we're not gonna have breakfast. 08:22 What we gonna talk about things that we eat. 08:24 We got some helpers and we have Lillian. 08:27 Now, Lillian, do you know any other languages? 08:29 Yes. 08:31 Well, what other language is that? 08:33 Sign language. Sign language. 08:34 Wow, that sign language is very interesting, isn't it? 08:38 Cool, and you can talk to people that maybe can't hear, correct? 08:42 And then let's see we've got another helper. 08:44 And let's check this out. Now we've got Adrian. 08:49 Now, Adrian, what is the most 08:51 interesting place you've ever been to? 08:53 Miami, Florida. 08:54 Miami, Florida, that's an interesting place, isn't it? 08:57 What do you like to do down there? 08:59 I like to play. You like to play. 09:01 Wow, playing is fun, isn't it? Now we have Terra. 09:04 Now, Terra, do you have a favorite animal? 09:08 Yes, a dog. A dog, wow. 09:10 Anybody else have dogs? 09:12 Now do we have a dog here? Yes. 09:15 Well, what's his name? Maxwell. 09:18 And Max is having a lot of fun right now, isn't he? 09:21 I think he's taking a little nap. 09:22 Hey, let me get my helpers up here. 09:24 Come on up here, helpers. 09:25 And you know what, we got to do 09:27 we've got some safety glasses. 09:28 We're gonna put those safety glasses on, 09:30 right up here, 'cause we're using some things 09:33 that might be able to hurt us. 09:35 Could cereal hurt us? No. 09:37 I don't think so. 09:39 And find my safety glasses, too. 09:41 But today we're gonna use some of these right here. 09:42 Let me show you what this is. 09:44 This is a very, very powerful magnet. 09:46 It's probably the second most 09:48 powerful permanent magnets in the entire world. 09:50 And we have to be careful, 09:52 so don't get them close to each other, 09:54 okay, kind of keep the magnet separate, 09:55 so they don't touch each other. 09:57 And what else we have right here is we have some cereal. 10:00 Now cereal has things in it that we need, right? 10:03 It has vitamins and minerals. 10:05 So what I want you do, take your bags. 10:06 Take your little bags, open them up. 10:08 I'm gonna pour some cereal in your bag. 10:10 We're gonna find out today 10:12 if there are some things in our cereal 10:14 that our body might need, okay. 10:17 So let me go ahead we're gonna put this in here. 10:19 Yeah, take your magnet out of your bag. 10:21 We won't need the magnet in the bag. 10:22 Are we going to eat the cereal? 10:23 No, we're not going to eat the cereal, not today. 10:26 Okay, and what we're gonna find out 10:28 is what kind of minerals 10:29 happen to be in cereals sometimes. 10:32 And so I'm gonna pour some of this water in here. 10:34 We're gonna make a little mash, okay. 10:37 Little bit of water in there 10:38 and I want you to zip that lock, zip it, 10:41 so it closes the bag up and then I want you to 10:43 just kind of work it in your hands. 10:46 We're gonna kind of mash up our flakes of wheat 10:50 that's what we have right here, we have some cereal, 10:52 so go ahead and zip it lock, zip it all up, 10:55 so that won't open on us. 10:56 What I've done earlier is I prepared my own. 10:59 Isn't that cool? Yes. 11:01 Doesn't that look good to eat? 11:03 It really looks like I don't know what it looks like, 11:05 but it doesn't look like cereal anymore. 11:07 It looks like some kind of thing you would drink, correct? Yes. 11:10 But what I'm gonna do right here is 11:11 I'm gonna put this right on my table 11:13 and I have a magnet as well and what we're going to do. 11:16 Go ahead mash that up really good. 11:17 Mash it up with you hands, there you go. 11:19 And it's going to look kind of like this. 11:21 And I'm gonna take my magnet, because we're gonna see 11:24 if there happens to be some iron, 11:26 that's right, little tiny iron pieces 11:29 that might be in our cereal. 11:31 Now I think I've got some of that right there 11:33 and so I think I've got enough. 11:36 I'm gonna open mine up 11:38 and I'm gonna put my magnet right inside, 11:40 but you're gonna keep yours from the outside. 11:42 I'm just gonna put mine in here. 11:43 This little tiny pieces of iron in our cereal. 11:46 Did you know that? No. 11:48 In some cereals that's true, so here we go I put my magnet 11:51 right inside of all of this messy stuff 11:54 and then I'm gonna take this and I'm going to rinse it off. 11:58 There is little tiny pieces of metal hung on, 12:00 right on to my magnet, and so I'm gonna rinse that off, 12:05 and then I have a piece of paper towel right here. 12:08 I'm gonna dry that off. 12:10 And then there should be 12:11 little tiny pieces of metal stuck to my magnet. 12:14 And there are, there are 12:16 little pieces of metal stuck to my magnet, 12:17 so I'm gonna dry this off really carefully. 12:20 I'm gonna open up my little bag 12:22 and then I'm going to take some of those little pieces, 12:25 'cause they're gonna stick to the outside of my bag. 12:28 Let me get this out of here just like that. 12:31 And we're gonna shake those little metal pieces 12:33 on to my table just like that. 12:35 Then I can take my little magnet and I can put that right on top. 12:39 Can you see those little pieces? 12:41 Look at there, they're dancing around, 12:43 because they're sticking to my magnet, 12:45 isn't that interesting? Yes! 12:47 Well, all of that happens to be in our food. 12:50 You know, when God gave us food to eat, 12:52 He gave us food that has nutrients in it, right? 12:55 Like minerals, and then cereal we have iron in and in fruits 12:58 and some vegetables we have iron. 13:00 And iron is very important for our body. 13:02 Without iron, our blood can't carry the oxygen that it needs. 13:06 You know, God thought of everything 13:08 when He created our diet in our food, 13:10 isn't that interesting? I think it really is. 13:13 Well, you know, boys and girls, 13:14 when we study more about science, 13:16 we learn more about our Creator God. 13:37 Do you hear that? No. 13:41 Probably just that raven over there in the tree. 13:45 King Ahab didn't send us to hunt for birds. 13:48 Yeah, yeah, you're right. I'm sorry. 13:50 Oh, Elijah obviously isn't here. Let's take a break. 13:54 Now I'm thirsty anyway. Pretty bone dry. 13:58 I'm so thirsty, though. 14:00 You know, he could have taken care of this three years ago, 14:02 if he had just seized Elijah 14:04 when he walked into his throne room. 14:06 I know, right. It's so irritating. 14:08 You remember the look on the king's face 14:10 when he said no water for three years. 14:13 I'll never forget it. I was terrified. 14:15 I thought we are gonna be thrown into dungeon. 14:17 Well, there's obviously 14:18 nothing going on here at the Brook Cherith. 14:21 Let's go look somewhere else. You know, what I think. 14:25 I think that God has hidden him from us. 14:27 We're just wasting our time. I think you're right. Let's go. 14:32 Hey, let's check in that bush right there. 14:35 Who's gonna hide in a bush? 14:37 Yeah, you right, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Let's go. 14:58 Father, I thank you, for this, 15:00 this sweet and refreshing water even in this dry place. 15:06 Lord, and even, even bread, even bread from ravens. 15:12 Lord, every morning and evening I know 15:14 that you have sent your provision for me. 15:17 Father, I thank you, and I praise you 15:19 that you take care of me your servant. 15:22 Lord, I know that even though this brook is almost dry 15:26 that you're going to continue to provide 15:28 and no matter what happens, you're going to guide me. 15:31 Father, I wait for your direction. 15:38 Elijah. Yes, Lord. 15:41 Go at once to Zarephath 15:42 in the region of Sidon and stay there. 15:46 I have directed a widow there to supply you with food. 15:51 Yes, Lord, I will go at once. 16:07 Oh, God, you know, 16:10 we have been gathering sticks for our last meal. 16:14 Lord, have mercy. Have mercy, Lord. 16:21 Mother, look someone is coming to see us. 16:23 Yes. Oh, it is the Prophet Elijah. 16:27 Greetings and God's peace be with you. 16:29 God peace be with you. I'm very thirsty. 16:32 Do you have any water to drink? 16:33 Yes, I have some to share. And some bread as well. 16:38 Oh, as the Lord your God lives, I have no bread 16:43 only a handful of flour in a bin and a little oil in a jar. 16:49 As you see we are gathering sticks, 16:52 so that I may prepare our bread, 16:54 so that we may eat and die. 16:59 Do not fear. Do as I've asked you. 17:02 First go in prepare some bread for me 17:04 and then some for you and your son. 17:07 And the bin of flour will not run out 17:09 nor the jar of oil run dry 17:11 until the Lord sends rain on the earth. 17:14 Don't worry, mother, it will be okay. 17:19 Okay, I will do as you ask. 17:23 Please put your things down and follow me. 17:33 You mean to tell me there has been no rain 17:35 because people have been worshiping idols. 17:37 That's right. 17:39 The Lord that I serve is the only God 17:42 and He Himself has been providing 17:43 for me in this drought. 17:45 He has provided for you every single day? Yes. 17:49 As He protected me from King Ahab, 17:51 I was in the Brook Cherith and he actually took ravens 17:54 and they dropped food, bread and meat to me twice a day. 17:57 God fed you with big birds. 17:59 Yes, God fed me with ravens. 18:02 Wow. 18:03 Here you are Prophet Elijah. 18:07 Ah, that bread smells so good. 18:09 Thank you, God, thank you for providing for us, praise you. 18:14 Why don't you make some for you and your son? 18:16 I have no more flour or oil. 18:20 Everything is gone, I have nothing left. 18:23 Have faith, God provides go and see for yourself. 18:29 I used everything. I know, I used everything. 18:35 Oh. What's the matter? 18:37 Oh, there's flour. There's flour and oil. 18:40 And lots of oil. 18:43 Oh, it's a miracle, we're not gonna die, we going to live. 18:46 Yes, yes. Thank you. It's a miracle. 18:51 God provides for His children always, 18:54 He always provides. Thank you. Thank you, God. 18:59 Praise God for this miracle. Praise God. 19:02 You're going to live. You're going to live for Him. 19:05 Yes, thank you. Thank you. 19:17 Sweet Jesus, Sweet Jesus 19:21 What a wonder you are 19:24 You are brighter than the morning star 19:31 You are fairer, much fairer 19:34 Than the lily that grows by the wayside 19:38 Precious, more precious than gold 19:43 I'll live for Jesus day after day 19:49 I'll live for Jesus then it come what may 19:56 The Holy Spirit I will obey 20:01 I'll live for Jesus day after day 20:18 Hi, boys and girls, 20:19 it's time for Miss Brenda's book of the day. 20:22 And today's book is a wonderful book. 20:25 It's called "Guides greatest rescue stories" 20:28 by my good friend, Lori Peckham. 20:30 Oh, there are so many intriguing stories here. 20:34 What if you ask God to find you a telephone? 20:37 And He sent you a big old hairy elephant. 20:39 That's sounds kind of funny, doesn't it? 20:41 Have you ever thought 20:42 that a friend's angry words could save a life? 20:45 That sounds interesting. 20:47 And how about a lazy old dog? 20:49 Oh, Maxwell, we are not talking about you, sweety. 20:52 Okay, and it says 20:53 and don't forget the ugliest coat on earth. 20:56 Oh, these are really great stories. 20:59 "Guides greatest rescue stories" by Lori Peckham. 21:03 Well, I'm excited today, boys and girls, 21:05 I want to introduce to you somebody very special, 21:08 a good friend of Miss Brenda's 21:09 and I know how much she loves Jesus. 21:11 I want you to meet Alana. 21:13 Hi, Alana, thank you, and welcome back to the program. 21:15 You've been here before. 21:17 And I'm so glad you're here today. 21:20 Thank you, I'm excited to be here, too. 21:22 Well, you also help Miss Brenda a lot. 21:25 And I want to thank you for all that you do for Jesus. 21:28 And that's why I asked you to come back, 21:30 I want you to give the boys and girls an idea 21:32 some of the ways that they can witness 21:35 by sharing what you do. Can you do that? 21:37 What are some of the things that you do? 21:39 Well, I have gone on a mission trip. 21:42 I went on to mission trip this summer 21:45 with some of the youth in the Washington Conference. 21:49 And we got to go to the San Juan Islands 21:53 and we helped with passing out literature 21:58 and we helped make a community garden 22:02 which is the churches main outreach right now 22:06 to get lots of people interested in that community garden 22:09 and rather at the community garden 22:11 they can learn about the church 22:13 and the Bible and Jesus and so that's-- 22:17 it's really exciting for us to be able to help improve it 22:20 and we added an herb garden. 22:23 And did you get in there and actually plant the plants 22:26 and work in the garden? 22:27 Well, I helped with other stuff. 22:29 We went to the beach 22:31 and we carried logs from the beach 22:34 and we loaded them in a truck and we took them 22:36 and we used them as posts for the fence. 22:39 Oh, and now it sounds like some heavy work. Yes, yes. 22:44 And was the weather hot? It was. 22:47 Especially, the last day 22:49 when I was helping dig out a sidewalk, 22:52 it was over 80 degrees. 22:54 Oh, so that was pretty hot. 22:56 When you're working out in the hot sun it can-- 22:58 now you brought some pictures with this. 23:00 What pictures did you bring to show us? 23:02 I brought a picture, this is of my friends and I 23:07 and we're in the pastor's truck. 23:10 And this is a load of cardboard that we brought. 23:13 And the cardboard was for helping with the herb garden 23:19 and the cool thing about this was 23:22 we were trying to find cardboard 23:25 and we were going to stores looking for the cardboard 23:30 and we were getting like one box at a time 23:33 and it was going to take forever 23:34 to get us as much as we needed. 23:37 So we prayed about it and then right after we prayed, 23:40 we found this stock pile of cardboard behind a store. 23:44 So we went and we talked to the store owner, 23:47 and he said that we could have it, 23:48 and he was about to recycle it. Wow. 23:52 He was gonna recycle it the very next day. 23:55 Wow. Don't you love it when God answers prayers like that? 23:58 Yeah, it was very. I get excited. 24:01 Now what are some of your other pictures? 24:02 You may hand this to me and I'll hold it up 24:04 while you're talking about it, in that way you can see it. 24:06 I'll hold it up over here where the viewers, they can see-- 24:07 That was my friends and I singing on the beach. 24:10 We did a lot of cool stuff like that. 24:12 We had a worship out there in nature 24:15 and it was a lot of fun. 24:16 That does look like fun. What's this one right here? 24:18 This was me helping build the sidewalk. 24:22 And we shoveled dirt for three hours straight 24:24 in the 80 degree weather. 24:28 But we finished it, 24:29 so that was good. That's wonderful. 24:31 So we were improving the church. And this one here? 24:33 That is all our tents 24:35 out and we camped right outside the church. 24:40 Oh, and this is so, this is where you stayed? Yes. 24:43 How many went with you in the mission trip? 24:45 We had about 30 people there including the leaders. 24:48 Oh, they did. 24:50 Now did you have any wonderful experiences 24:51 while you were there that you knew 24:53 that you had an opportunity to talk to someone about Jesus? 24:57 Yes, we got to hand out literature 24:59 and I actually I went to the Spanish community. 25:04 They have a community of Spanish speakers and-- 25:09 so that was an experience for me, because 25:11 I only speak a little bit of Spanish 25:13 and we actually had a lot of people entrusted 25:17 in coming to the church, and so it was very cool. 25:22 That is cool and would you encourage, 25:24 you know, boys and girls to go on a mission trip? 25:26 Oh, yes, it's an amazing experience. 25:29 You make lots of friends 25:31 and you just feel so much closer to God. 25:34 And we got to see orca whales 25:38 that's what the San Juan Islands are known for. 25:40 They are known for the orcas 25:41 that they have swimming around there. 25:43 And we had gone to have worship on a beach 25:47 and these orcas came swimming 25:51 by within 50 yards of where we were. 25:54 And they were jumping and we were just saying 25:56 they are praising the Lord like we were. 26:00 Oh, isn't that exciting, boys and girls? 26:03 Well, I absolutely think 26:05 that everyone should go on a mission trip. 26:07 I think mission trips are life changing, they really are. 26:10 When you get to see, you know 26:12 other parts of the world and see also 26:16 the need of how much they need to know Jesus. 26:18 There are so many boys and girls in the world 26:20 don't even know who Jesus is. 26:22 Did you meet anybody like that? 26:24 Well, we didn't meet very many people 26:28 who they knew about Jesus, 26:29 but they didn't really follow Him. 26:32 And they kind of just-- They knew about Him, 26:33 but they didn't know Jesus. 26:35 Yes. Yes. They knew about Him, but they didn't know Him. 26:37 Yes, so we need to introduce people to Jesus 26:40 and so that they can get to know Him and love Him. 26:43 Yeah. And that's life changing. 26:44 Well, thank you, you're refreshing, 26:46 Alana, thank you so much for coming back to Kids Time. 26:49 Boys and girls, remember wherever you go, 26:51 whatever you do, its Kids Time to share Jesus. 27:08 Kids' time 27:31 Kids' time Kids' time 27:33 Kids' time Kids' time 27:39 Kids' time |
