Okay. 00:01:46.16\00:01:49.40 I've come by my knowledge of the sea and sea life, 00:01:49.43\00:01:51.81 honestly, through that channel. 00:01:51.84\00:01:53.86 My knowledge of fish has really helped me paint them. 00:01:53.89\00:01:56.16 I love painting. 00:01:56.19\00:01:57.56 And it extended to corals and marine mammals 00:01:57.59\00:01:59.90 and everything else you see around and so. 00:01:59.93\00:02:02.00 Having a formal background, formal training in science, 00:02:02.03\00:02:04.29 it definitely helped my art-- 00:02:04.32\00:02:05.88 I can see that. 00:02:05.91\00:02:07.28 Now today, we're gonna talk about, 00:02:07.31\00:02:08.78 they call it Northern Wall here at Grand Cayman. 00:02:08.81\00:02:11.52 Tell me about that. 00:02:11.55\00:02:13.06 The island of Grand Cayman is a seaman, 00:02:13.09\00:02:14.88 the very tip of that 00:02:14.91\00:02:16.28 an under water mountain if you like. Okay. 00:02:16.31\00:02:17.69 And we like to go diving around the edge of that, 00:02:17.72\00:02:19.93 where you go from shallow water which is clean and clear, 00:02:19.96\00:02:22.98 diving over the cliff and you see 00:02:23.01\00:02:24.81 a complete different range of animals 00:02:24.84\00:02:26.66 over the cliff on the flats. 00:02:26.69\00:02:28.35 Now, now I have to interrupt, 00:02:28.38\00:02:30.44 I've been out there 00:02:30.47\00:02:32.09 and you go from may be 60 feet of water, 00:02:32.12\00:02:34.68 kids it's so clear to what-- 00:02:34.71\00:02:36.08 how deep does that go just like a cliff? 00:02:36.11\00:02:38.69 Thousands of feet. 00:02:38.72\00:02:40.09 Thousands of feet, can you imagine? 00:02:40.12\00:02:41.49 Not that we go all the way to bottom. 00:02:41.52\00:02:42.97 Most of the life is right around that edge 00:02:43.00\00:02:44.76 and I like to spend a lot of time browsing 00:02:44.79\00:02:46.97 along the edge of the reef. 00:02:47.00\00:02:48.37 We'll find animals 00:02:48.40\00:02:49.77 like this beautiful spotted eagle ray here. Wow. 00:02:49.80\00:02:52.32 They glide along reef. 00:02:52.35\00:02:54.26 You can take pictures of them and some of them, 00:02:54.29\00:02:55.85 they come and go. 00:02:55.88\00:02:57.25 Now they mainly, they are mainly 00:02:57.28\00:02:58.65 just start at that northern wall. 00:02:58.68\00:03:00.13 Normally, but they come in shallow to feed. Okay. 00:03:00.16\00:03:02.19 And you got my favorite, the Nassau grouper, 00:03:02.22\00:03:04.31 we talked about him earlier. Yes. 00:03:04.34\00:03:06.04 This is a wonderful reef predator 00:03:06.07\00:03:07.57 and they prey on the colorful reef fish. 00:03:07.60\00:03:09.78 Now you were telling me 00:03:09.81\00:03:11.24 that this Nassau grouper changes colors. 00:03:11.27\00:03:17.47 They do, when they start to spawn, 00:03:17.50\00:03:19.14 the males become completely dark or brown or black 00:03:19.17\00:03:22.13 with a beautiful white stripe 00:03:22.16\00:03:23.53 through the eye and the white tail-- 00:03:23.56\00:03:24.93 Amazing, isn't that neat kids? 00:03:24.96\00:03:26.33 And that's only once a year, though. 00:03:26.36\00:03:27.84 Just once a year, they change color. 00:03:27.87\00:03:29.24 And then you get other colorful creatures 00:03:29.27\00:03:30.67 like the Stoplight parrotfish. 00:03:30.70\00:03:32.29 This is the male and female. 00:03:32.32\00:03:34.29 We get all the other French angelfish, 00:03:34.32\00:03:36.01 gray angelfish, sometimes you meet 00:03:36.04\00:03:37.76 a hawksbill turtle or the very shy green turtle. 00:03:37.79\00:03:40.77 Occasionally you see a, 00:03:40.80\00:03:42.17 you know, a reef shark cruising by, 00:03:42.20\00:03:43.57 stuff like that but you're always looking 00:03:43.60\00:03:45.13 for large fish moving by 00:03:45.16\00:03:47.47 and being an underwater photographer, 00:03:47.50\00:03:49.79 I like to get in and get some good shots. 00:03:49.82\00:03:51.37 The most difficult fish to get is the Queen angelfish, 00:03:51.40\00:03:54.06 'cause they're so shy moving so fast, 00:03:54.09\00:03:56.10 but they're brightly colored wonderful animals to film. 00:03:56.13\00:03:58.66 What color are those? 00:03:58.69\00:04:00.33 They're a multiple colors of green, yellow, blue and so on. 00:04:00.36\00:04:03.60 And, of course, you're diving on the edge of the ocean, 00:04:03.63\00:04:05.25 so sometimes you'll see passing tunas, rohus, barracudas 00:04:05.28\00:04:09.53 and occasionally the oceanic whitetip shark 00:04:09.56\00:04:12.28 which is I'm working on right now, 00:04:12.31\00:04:14.39 if you want to come over, 00:04:14.42\00:04:15.79 we can go and take a look at my latest piece of work. 00:04:15.82\00:04:17.19 Wow, Dr. Guy, what an awesome painting. 00:04:21.71\00:04:24.08 Tell me about this thing. 00:04:24.11\00:04:25.68 Well, I've just been working on this. 00:04:25.71\00:04:27.08 This is called an oceanic whitetip shark 00:04:27.11\00:04:28.81 and sometimes they come right close to the edge 00:04:28.84\00:04:30.78 of the drop off where we were diving. Okay. 00:04:30.81\00:04:32.91 But they're one of the most endangered sharks now 00:04:32.94\00:04:34.67 because they've been caught in the long line fish net 00:04:34.70\00:04:37.06 targeting tuna and swordfish. 00:04:37.09\00:04:38.99 They've been sold for their long fins, 00:04:39.02\00:04:40.73 these very big fins they have, 00:04:40.76\00:04:42.13 on the Asian seafood market, the Asian, 00:04:42.16\00:04:44.28 you know, the shark fin soup meal 00:04:44.31\00:04:45.86 that has accounted for so many sharks killed. 00:04:45.89\00:04:48.64 They're beautiful animals. 00:04:48.67\00:04:50.04 They're sleek long ocean going and like we said earlier, 00:04:50.07\00:04:53.25 many ocean going fish are accompanied 00:04:53.28\00:04:55.34 by a range of other fish as they make their travels. 00:04:55.37\00:04:57.53 So, so these fish aren't scared of the shark. 00:04:57.56\00:05:01.54 Absolutely not, but if one was to falter or become sick, 00:05:01.57\00:05:04.98 he wouldn't have any problem taking them. 00:05:05.01\00:05:06.38 Is that right? Yeah. 00:05:06.41\00:05:07.78 And they scavenge, they look for young turtles, 00:05:07.81\00:05:09.87 they look for dead and dying whales, 00:05:09.90\00:05:12.50 you know, bits of stuff, 00:05:12.53\00:05:13.90 meat floating on the ocean 00:05:13.93\00:05:15.30 and they are the garbage cleaners of the open ocean. 00:05:15.33\00:05:18.47 Now this is your newest painting right now. 00:05:18.50\00:05:20.31 It's a latest one and it's timely 00:05:20.34\00:05:21.79 because we need to protect this animal worldwide, 00:05:21.82\00:05:24.07 it's very, very low level of population right now. 00:05:24.10\00:05:26.67 So how long you've been working on this? 00:05:26.70\00:05:28.74 A piece like this will take a couple of weeks 00:05:28.77\00:05:30.21 and, of course, the time it takes 00:05:30.24\00:05:31.64 depends on the medium, the size of the piece 00:05:31.67\00:05:33.62 and the amount of detail, scale detail, coloration, 00:05:33.65\00:05:36.33 background whether you're painting sea grass, 00:05:36.36\00:05:38.18 plants all the rest of it, takes a lot of time. So... 00:05:38.21\00:05:40.78 It'd take me forever, 00:05:40.81\00:05:42.18 I'd never get this done, that's amazing. 00:05:42.21\00:05:43.76 Now when do you think you get it done, 00:05:43.79\00:05:45.46 you've been at it a couple of weeks you say, 00:05:45.49\00:05:46.86 or it's gonna take-- 00:05:46.89\00:05:48.26 I just finished this yesterday. 00:05:48.29\00:05:49.66 So it's done, it looks done to me. 00:05:49.69\00:05:51.06 It's pretty much done, I signed there already. 00:05:51.09\00:05:52.66 What I do is lacquer it over. 00:05:52.69\00:05:54.25 Put a protection on it and hang it up on the wall 00:05:54.28\00:05:57.14 and see what we can do with it. 00:05:57.17\00:05:58.71 That sure is interesting Dr. Guy. 00:05:58.74\00:06:01.70 But I have to ask you this one last question. What is this? 00:06:01.73\00:06:04.90 This is the bill of a blue marlin, 00:06:04.93\00:06:06.76 about 500 pound fish, may be 10-12 feet long, yeah. 00:06:06.79\00:06:10.09 It's the point on the end of their face, 00:06:10.12\00:06:11.97 it gives them the name billfish. 00:06:12.00\00:06:13.96 They use it for striking their pray and swallowing them. 00:06:13.99\00:06:17.39 They use it defensively for striking 00:06:17.42\00:06:19.23 at the sharks or spearing sharks. 00:06:19.26\00:06:21.58 And also it helps them go through the water 00:06:21.61\00:06:23.24 because they're one of the fastest fish in the ocean. 00:06:23.27\00:06:25.44 Just like that painting on the wall that you painted? 00:06:25.47\00:06:27.83 That's the one there with the marlin 00:06:27.86\00:06:29.23 chasing the tuna, yeah. 00:06:29.26\00:06:30.63 Wow. Yes. 00:08:58.23\00:09:00.35 Now that's a certain frequency. 00:09:00.38\00:09:01.96 Now these beakers, they're made in Germany, 00:09:01.99\00:09:04.04 and you know, they make good glass, don't they? 00:09:04.07\00:09:06.36 Oh, sure, so it's very good glass, hit it again. 00:09:06.39\00:09:09.14 Now what we have over here, 00:09:09.17\00:09:10.54 let me show you some of these pieces of equipment. 00:09:10.57\00:09:12.15 We have an amplifier. 00:09:12.18\00:09:13.99 It's gonna amplify the sound, make it loud when we want it. 00:09:14.02\00:09:18.04 Then right here we have what we call an oscilloscope 00:09:18.07\00:09:20.79 actually it's not an oscilloscope really, 00:09:20.82\00:09:22.51 it's a--it gives us wave forms, okay? 00:09:22.54\00:09:26.54 And we're gonna try to get different frequencies of sound. 00:09:26.57\00:09:29.79 We're gonna try to match that sound. 00:09:29.82\00:09:31.48 Hit it again, Prem. 00:09:31.51\00:09:32.92 We're gonna try to match that sound 00:09:32.95\00:09:35.02 coming from our wave generator. 00:09:35.05\00:09:36.75 And if we can do that and bombard it 00:09:36.78\00:09:38.42 with enough of those frequencies, 00:09:38.45\00:09:39.97 it might just get all of those molecules 00:09:40.00\00:09:42.97 that are holding this glass-- making this glass up 00:09:43.00\00:09:45.26 and it will just start to jiggle 'em enough to break it. 00:09:45.29\00:09:48.45 You want to try it? 00:09:48.48\00:09:49.85 Yeah. Yeah. 00:09:49.88\00:09:51.25 Okay, cool. Why don't you set that right there, Prem. 00:09:51.28\00:09:52.79 We're gonna set that right here. 00:09:52.82\00:09:54.35 There you go, set it right there. 00:09:54.38\00:09:55.75 We're gonna kind of balance that. 00:09:55.78\00:09:57.15 I'm gonna hold it off just a little bit, 00:09:57.18\00:09:58.69 okay, cool, all right. 00:09:58.72\00:10:00.46 And then, hey, let's go and turn the amplifier on, 00:10:00.49\00:10:02.78 go and turn that on. 00:10:02.81\00:10:04.18 We're gonna turn our wave generator 00:10:04.21\00:10:05.86 just turn that on right here. 00:10:05.89\00:10:07.46 We got powered up that's what we need 00:10:07.49\00:10:09.58 and then we're gonna put this safety shield up right here 00:10:09.61\00:10:12.58 because when glass breaks, 00:10:12.61\00:10:14.42 sometimes what does it do? Shatters. 00:10:14.45\00:10:16.83 Scatters all over, that's absolutely right. 00:10:16.86\00:10:19.36 And then what we have right here is a little straw. 00:10:19.39\00:10:21.93 Now I'm gonna hand the straw to you, Prem. 00:10:21.96\00:10:23.52 I want you to put the straw inside the beaker. 00:10:23.55\00:10:26.14 When we get the frequency to match 00:10:26.17\00:10:28.41 the frequency of the glass beaker, 00:10:28.44\00:10:31.65 the straw is going to dance surround a little bit, 00:10:31.68\00:10:34.00 it's gonna start to vibrate 00:10:34.03\00:10:35.59 and then I'm gonna turn the volume up little bit 00:10:35.62\00:10:37.64 once we found that very, very special resonant 00:10:37.67\00:10:40.57 frequency of the beaker and it's gonna dance around 00:10:40.60\00:10:43.05 and pretty soon, we hope it's gonna what? Shatter. 00:10:43.08\00:10:46.21 Gonna shatter, and hey, I tell you what, 00:10:46.24\00:10:48.31 it's gonna be loud, 00:10:48.34\00:10:49.71 so you guys need to cover your ears 00:10:49.74\00:10:51.16 while we're trying to do that. 00:10:51.19\00:10:52.56 And we're gonna step. 00:10:52.59\00:10:53.96 Why don't you come back here with me right here? 00:10:53.99\00:10:55.65 Okay, we got our safety-- once you come way over here, 00:10:55.68\00:10:57.79 actually why don't you stand right here? 00:10:57.82\00:10:59.41 This would be great. 00:10:59.44\00:11:00.81 And I have my ear protectors as this is going to be loud. 00:11:00.84\00:11:03.79 I'm gonna put this in here. 00:11:03.82\00:11:05.19 Might take us a little bit to do that. 00:11:05.22\00:11:07.06 Let me get this ear protector in right here, okay. 00:11:07.09\00:11:09.63 Everybody needs to cover their ears 00:11:09.66\00:11:11.22 with your hands cover them up. 00:11:11.25\00:11:13.42 And let's turn this on. 00:11:13.45\00:11:15.65 Can you hear that sound? Yup. 00:11:15.68\00:11:17.51 I can hear that sound, it's kind of loud, isn't it? 00:11:17.54\00:11:20.71 And I'm trying to get the right frequency. 00:11:20.74\00:11:22.83 Can you hear the frequency go up and down? 00:11:28.16\00:11:29.99 Yeah. Okay. 00:11:30.02\00:11:31.39 Let's try to get that little straw 00:11:31.42\00:11:33.14 to bounce around a little bit. 00:11:33.17\00:11:34.60 Let's see. 00:11:39.10\00:11:40.47 Oh, wow! 00:11:58.91\00:12:02.19 Did you hear that? Yeah. 00:12:02.22\00:12:03.85 Wow! Did you hear that? Yes. 00:12:03.88\00:12:06.61 Wow. What happened to the beaker? It broke. 00:12:06.64\00:12:10.35 It broke, and you know why did it break? 00:12:10.38\00:12:12.77 What were we trying to do? 00:12:12.80\00:12:14.34 Trying to make the frequency to bombard it and to shatter it. 00:12:14.37\00:12:17.94 That's right, we got the same 00:12:17.97\00:12:19.93 resonant frequency of the beaker, 00:12:19.96\00:12:21.85 a tremendous amount of energy 00:12:21.88\00:12:23.54 we put right into that beaker, isn't that cool? Yes. 00:12:23.57\00:12:26.93 That was cool. 00:12:26.96\00:12:28.33 You know what that reminds me of? 00:12:28.36\00:12:29.73 You know that there are all kinds of frequencies around 00:12:29.76\00:12:32.64 but we can't hear them. 00:12:32.67\00:12:34.04 We have to have a receiver to hear them. 00:12:34.07\00:12:36.15 But you know, Jesus wants to speak 00:12:36.18\00:12:38.73 to our minds and our hearts doesn't He? Yeah. 00:12:38.76\00:12:40.91 He really does. 00:12:40.94\00:12:42.31 And you and I have to be in tune with Jesus, 00:12:42.34\00:12:44.97 with His call for our life and He'll fill us with power. 00:12:45.00\00:12:49.02 Hey, that beaker had a tremendous amount 00:12:49.05\00:12:51.25 of power and-- Yeah. 00:12:51.28\00:12:52.75 So much power it just shattered it all to pieces. 00:12:52.78\00:12:56.43 Well, you'll have to mark that up, 00:12:56.46\00:12:58.41 this is another glass that you helped to break. 00:12:58.44\00:13:01.67 And you know what, boys and girls, 00:13:01.70\00:13:03.07 when we study about science, 00:13:03.10\00:13:05.19 we learn more about our creator, God. 00:13:05.22\00:13:09.30 Looks like we've just about cleaned up in this town. 00:13:16.40\00:13:19.15 There is nothing left. 00:13:19.18\00:13:20.73 Hey, what is that? 00:13:20.76\00:13:22.13 Hey, get her here.
