00:01 It's almost time for "Kids' Time." Yeah.
00:03 We're going to be late.
00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus
00:11 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:24 Kids' time Kids' time
00:26 Kids' time Kids' time.
00:31 Hi, boys and girls.
00:32 Many girls, when they are small,
00:33 like to pretend that they're a princess.
00:36 Now the funny thing is, most of them
00:38 would rather pretend to be a princess than a queen.
00:40 And I think there's a reason for that.
00:43 Queens sometimes have to make very hard decisions
00:45 and they have a lot of responsibility.
00:47 A good queen doesn't just wear pretty clothes
00:50 and live in a palace.
00:52 No, she has to look out for her entire country
00:55 and sometimes it's not an easy thing to do.
00:58 Different people want different things
00:59 and sometimes it's hard to make everyone happy.
01:03 Often what's best for them doesn't make them happy at all.
01:06 Our Bible story today is about a girl
01:08 who grew up to be a queen.
01:11 And she had to make
01:13 one of the hardest decisions in her whole life.
01:15 We'll hear her exciting story in just a little bit,
01:18 but first, let's see what Ranger Dwight
01:21 has to show us on "Nature Time."
01:30 Hi, boys and girls. Welcome to "Nature Time."
01:32 I'm excited today.
01:34 We're on the Grand Cayman Island
01:36 at this turtle farm with Dr. Walt Mustin.
01:38 How are you today? I'm fine, thank you.
01:40 Kids, isn't this awesome, all these turtles? Yes.
01:43 Yeah, this is great.
01:44 Now, I want to ask you a question
01:46 before we get in to the turtles.
01:48 We're at this turtle farm
01:49 but was the turtles always here
01:51 or did you just bring them here.
01:53 Years ago there were many more turtles here
01:54 than are today. Okay.
01:57 But we've been helping replenish the wild turtle population.
02:00 Boy, that's great.
02:01 And that's a very important part of our story.
02:03 And in the beginning when we released turtles
02:05 this size to the wild,
02:07 we didn't really know
02:08 whether they'd be able to transition
02:10 from the pellets to their wild diet.
02:12 Okay. Yeah.
02:13 And we put tags on their flippers
02:17 and had a US reward of $10 for the return of the tag,
02:22 provided you gave us some data
02:23 on where the turtle was found and how big it was.
02:26 So now, did it work? It did work.
02:28 And the tags started getting mailed in
02:30 from Cuba, and Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala.
02:34 We got tags from the US from Florida,
02:36 and we got one from Venezuela.
02:38 Kids, if you saw one of these turtles with a tag on,
02:40 would you turn it in for $10?
02:42 Yes. Me too.
02:45 Okay, and then the question was,
02:47 and that was an important question,
02:48 could these animals actually complete their lifecycle
02:51 by coming back to their mother beach
02:53 or their natal beach and laying eggs? Okay.
02:56 And that was difficult to prove initially
02:58 because they would outgrow their tag.
03:01 So we had to use a new method.
03:03 You see these scutes or plates on the back?
03:05 So these are called plates or scutes?
03:07 What are scutes, kids? These are called scutes.
03:10 And you can actually graft some of the white tissue
03:14 from the bottom of the turtle into one of the scutes
03:18 on the top and it looks like--
03:20 I'm gonna put him back-- it looks like this.
03:25 Can you see that, Ranger Dwight?
03:26 Yeah, isn't that awesome, kids? Yes.
03:30 It's what we call a living tag. A living tag.
03:33 It stays with them for the rest of their life.
03:35 So it never--the living tag never goes away?
03:38 Never falls out. Wow.
03:40 Now guess what?
03:41 Last summer, five turtles that we released 25 years ago
03:48 came back to Grand Cayman and laid their own eggs.
03:52 Kids, are any of you older than 25 years old?
03:54 No. Okay.
03:56 Wow. That's a long time, isn't it? Yes.
03:58 It is. Okay, 25 years!
04:02 So it's been a success.
04:04 I guess so.
04:05 So they actually came back,
04:07 which proves that the study
04:09 that you're doing in the research is paying off.
04:11 Yes, it is, Ranger Dwight.
04:13 Now has there ever been
04:14 any skeptics thinking it doesn't pay off?
04:17 Well, there were concerns that,
04:19 one, they wouldn't survive. Okay.
04:22 And, two, they wouldn't be able to transition
04:24 from the artificial food that we make to their wild diet.
04:28 Because they thought since you raise them on this turtle farm--
04:31 They may not know what to eat out there.
04:33 And they would-- and they would die
04:34 because they weren't used to it, but yet it's proven them wrong,
04:37 you have actually proved that it works.
04:39 That's correct. That is amazing.
04:41 Is that not amazing, kids? Yes. It is.
04:44 Oh, wow, well, Dr. Walt, I want to thank you
04:46 for being a part of this
04:48 because I've learned a lot more about turtles.
04:51 Well, turtles have been a big part of Cayman history.
04:53 If you went back 100 years ago,
04:55 you wouldn't find much tourism
04:57 and not too many banks, but you'd find lots of turtles.
05:00 Lots of turtles.
05:01 And the people that caught turtles,
05:02 the turtlers, provided for their families.
05:06 Wow, that is amazing.
05:08 And now, we're trying to provide for these turtles.
05:09 That's great.
05:11 By protecting them and conserving them.
05:12 Good. Well, Dr. Walt, I want to thank you for being here.
05:15 Kids, hasn't this been great, huh? Yes.
05:19 Okay. Never forget, nature is God's second book.
05:22 Get out there and take a look.
05:24 I want to grab me a turtle, how about you? Yes.
05:26 Let's get one of these things, okay.
05:41 This is the day
05:43 This is the day
05:44 That the Lord has made
05:46 That the Lord has made
05:49 I will rejoice
05:51 I will rejoice
05:52 And be glad in it
05:54 And be glad in it
05:57 This is the day that the Lord has made
06:01 I will rejoice and be glad in it
06:05 This is the day
06:07 This is the day
06:09 That the Lord has made.
06:20 It's "Learning Time." It's "Learning Time!"
06:22 Welcome to learning time.
06:23 I'm glad you joined us today.
06:25 Hey, it looks like we're gonna have some fun,
06:26 doesn't it? Yes.
06:28 Yeah, and I'm gonna need some helpers.
06:29 And, Noah, you're gonna be our first helper
06:30 and do you have a favorite sport?
06:33 Yes. And it's football. Football.
06:35 That's an interesting sport, isn't it?
06:36 Then we have Maria over here.
06:38 Now, Maria, do you have a favorite hobby,
06:39 things you like to do?
06:41 I like to draw.
06:42 Draw. And draw what? Horses.
06:43 Horses. I like horses.
06:45 Now I can't draw them, however.
06:47 I'm glad you can.
06:48 Then we have Samuel over here.
06:49 Samuel, do you play an instrument? Yes.
06:51 And what instrument is that? Ukulele.
06:53 Ukulele. Hey, that's an interesting string instrument.
06:56 Hey, come on over here, helpers.
06:57 Let's see what we got.
06:59 First of all we got some safety glasses,
07:00 because we're using glass.
07:02 You know, glass can break, can it?
07:04 Yeah, glass can break.
07:06 And so let's go a put on our safety glasses.
07:07 Have you ever broken glass?
07:09 Anything made out of glass? Yes.
07:11 Yeah, okay.
07:12 Well, we're not gonna try to break stuff today, okay.
07:15 So instead--in fact, you might want to put these in your pocket
07:18 because we're gonna be using
07:19 all of this table right here. Okay.
07:21 This is what we're gonna try to do.
07:22 We're gonna try to look at a couple of different forces.
07:25 And so we have a little marble, okay.
07:27 And we have a marble and a glass.
07:28 Now this is really something that takes a little practice.
07:31 Can I like get this marble in this glass
07:33 without picking the marble up and putting it in the glass?
07:36 Can I do that? Yes.
07:38 Well, we're gonna find out.
07:40 So we're gonna make the marble move
07:42 and that's going to be a inertia,
07:43 so the marble is gonna have inertia, it's going to move.
07:46 And so I'm gonna move it just like this.
07:48 If I make a twirling around--
07:50 and maybe if I can turn it just--
07:51 whoa, hang on I'm gonna try it again.
07:54 We're gonna lose that and we get this going right here
07:57 and maybe if I can turn it very carefully just like this
08:00 and it goes all the way over like that, wow!
08:03 How about that? Whoo!
08:06 How about that? Okay, all right.
08:07 So here, why don't you give it a try?
08:09 Everybody's got a glass and everybody's got a marble
08:11 and if you lose a marble I'll give you another one, okay.
08:15 Look at that, the marble is going around and around,
08:17 here's another one try this, here's another one,
08:18 I got down for you. Here we go.
08:20 How're we going?
08:22 You need one Maria, and then he'll need one over here,
08:23 here's another one for you
08:25 and they're going all over, yeah.
08:26 And going, going, going.
08:27 Why, here, you got another one.
08:29 Maria, here's another one for you.
08:30 Here's another one for you.
08:32 Wow, they're having trouble here.
08:33 I keep losing it.
08:34 Oh, you keep losing it?
08:36 There you go, another one over here.
08:37 I'm gonna lose that-- oh, you already got it over.
08:39 Can you pick it up? Okay, stop. Okay, stop.
08:40 Whoa, whoa, you almost had it here.
08:42 Tell you what, we're gonna start with a marble in your glass.
08:44 Good, turn it over, turn it over
08:46 and see if you can get it to spin in your glass,
08:50 now can you turn your glass sideway?
08:51 Can you turn it-- look at there,
08:53 the marble is still inside the glass, cool.
08:57 And you might be able to go all the way over just like that.
08:59 Yes, Samuel got it. Whoa. How about that?
09:03 Well, we got another one.
09:05 You can try it one more time. Okay, try it again.
09:07 You know, yeah try to pick yourself from the bottom now.
09:09 You can do that.
09:10 Look, Samuel's is off and he's going over there.
09:13 He did it all the way from the top
09:15 and we got one over here, cool.
09:17 You've got it. That's interesting.
09:19 Now, you know, there's a couple of different forces here,
09:22 isn't there? Yes.
09:23 That's right, when the marble was going
09:24 around and around and around-- have you ever,
09:26 have you ever ridden on something
09:27 that spun you around and around?
09:29 Yeah. Yes.
09:30 Like a merry-go-round or something like that. Yeah.
09:32 You know, well that-- that is a force
09:34 and the marble is moving around and around
09:36 that's inertia and the glass put another force on the marble.
09:41 The force that the glass put on was called centripetal force.
09:44 Isn't that interesting? Yeah.
09:46 You know, it reminds me of the marble, all right.
09:48 Do we look like marbles? No.
09:50 No. No.
09:51 We don't look like marbles. But you know what?
09:53 Once we get moving we have inertia, right?
09:55 We might have a goal in our life
09:56 and once we start to move it's hard to change
10:00 a moving object, isn't it? Yes.
10:01 Have you ever tried to stop a car when it was moving?
10:04 No. No.
10:05 No, because it has inertia.
10:06 Well, our lives are kind of like that.
10:08 Once we have a goal and a focus
10:10 and if we focus on Jesus, you know what?
10:12 That is our focus and we start to move in that direction
10:15 and that's the direction that we should all move, correct?
10:18 The direction that God wants us to move,
10:20 so that other forces can't take us off of that force
10:25 that Jesus wants us to have.
10:26 Because you know, in Matthew 6:33 it says,
10:29 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God."
10:32 And that's what we need to do.
10:33 We need to be like that little marble in that glass
10:35 moving in a direction towards God.
10:38 Isn't that cool?
10:39 Most of the forces that we talked about today--
10:41 and I want to be guided by the good forces.
10:43 But, you know, sometimes we can be guided
10:45 in a wrong direction, can't we? Yes.
10:47 Yeah, and that's terrible
10:49 because once we're in a wrong direction
10:51 it's hard to change
10:53 and so we have to be very careful
10:54 and so if we seek God first everyday,
10:57 He will direct our paths
10:58 and our lives will be a lot easier, won't it?
11:01 Hey, that is cool.
11:02 Well, aren't you glad you're not a marble? Yes.
11:05 Because I would be really dizzy right now
11:07 and that would be tough, wouldn't it?
11:08 I think so.
11:10 Well, you know, when we learn more about science,
11:12 we learn more about our creator, God.
11:26 Oh, Princess Celia, I'm so happy
11:28 you came to visit me in the palace today.
11:30 I love to visit you Queen Esther.
11:33 You know, would you like to pet my dog?
11:35 This is Prince Maximus. I'd love to.
11:39 Oh, and you know what?
11:41 Maybe when you come next time,
11:42 we can go out and see the beautiful
11:44 new gardens in the palace.
11:46 A moment my queen.
11:48 Yes, Hathak.
11:49 Princess Celia, take care of Maximus for me, okay?
11:51 Okay. I love to.
11:54 I went to Susa. As you ordered my queen.
11:56 But Hathak, aren't these the clothes I sent for Mordecai.
12:00 Did you not give them to him?
12:01 Yes, my queen, I did. I tried.
12:03 But he and all the people of Susa are mourning.
12:06 He refused to take off the sackcloth and ashes.
12:10 He told me to remind you that Haman the Agagite
12:13 has taken the kings decree.
12:16 He's decreed that all of the Jews,
12:19 both young and old, must be put to death
12:22 and sealed it with the king's own signet ring.
12:27 Hathak, what does Mordecai want me to do?
12:32 Did you not tell him that if I go
12:34 before the king unannounced it will mean
12:35 certain death for me?
12:38 I did my queen and he sent you this.
12:48 Do not think in your heart
12:50 that you will escape in the king's palace
12:52 any more than all the other Jews.
12:55 For if you remain completely silent this time,
12:58 relief and deliverance will rise
13:00 from the Jews from another place,
13:02 but you and your father's house will perish.
13:07 Yet who knows whether you've come to the kingdom
13:10 for such a time is this. My queen.
13:18 Hathak, tell Mordecai to gather all the Jews
13:21 and fast and pray for 3 days.
13:24 No food or drink.
13:26 And my maidens and myself will do the same.
13:30 Yes, my queen. Give Mordecai this message.
13:33 Tell him that after these 3 days are up,
13:36 I will go before the king, I will go.
13:39 And if I perish, I will, I will perish.
13:45 As you have said, my queen.
13:56 My queen, I hesistate to speak, but please reconsider.
14:02 To go before the king
14:04 unannounced could well mean your death.
14:09 Hathak, do not worry about me for my God is with me.
14:13 We've fasted and prayed for 3 days without food or drink
14:18 and now it is time for me to go before the king.
14:21 Now go hurry back to my quarters, Hathak,
14:25 and prepare the banquet for the king,
14:27 for we've not much time
14:29 and I want everything to be perfect for him.
14:31 Yes, my queen, I will.
14:35 Halt, by order of the king,
14:38 no one is to enter without being summoned.
14:41 It'll be all right. It'll be all right. Uh, but--
15:03 Haman, I believe it's time to reduce the people's taxes.
15:09 Or we could raise the taxes
15:12 and spend that gold on camels with two humps.
15:15 Camels! Yes.
15:17 We have plenty of camels.
15:18 The people made fountains and gardens in the city.
15:21 You're majesty. To make it a beautiful place.
15:23 Someone is coming unannounced!
15:24 Quick, protectors, protect the king.
15:26 Who would dare enter the throne room unannounced?
15:29 Queen Esther? Halt.
15:32 He's raised the septre. Step back and let her pass.
15:36 This is unheard of and a great insult.
15:39 She should be put to death, immediately. As your advisor--
15:45 Silence! Let her approach.
15:58 My beautiful queen, what is so important
16:03 that you would risk your very life
16:05 to come unannounced into the throne room?
16:09 What is your request?
16:11 As my queen I will grant you any request,
16:15 yeah, even up to half of my kingdom.
16:18 If it pleases the king, I would like to invite you
16:22 and Haman to a banquet tonight that I have prepared.
16:26 Haman and I? Yes, my king.
16:31 We will be pleased to grant your request.
16:35 Thank you, your majesty.
16:37 It honors me greatly to have you and Haman
16:39 join me tonight for dinner.
16:41 Let her go safely.
16:51 Haman, whatever was that all about?
16:55 I'm not quite sure,
16:58 but perhaps we'll find out at tonight's feast.
17:02 Indeed we will, Haman. Indeed we will.
17:27 Bow. Bend a knee.
17:32 I bow only to my God.
17:36 Do you have any idea who I'm?
17:39 I know who you are, Haman. But I bow only to my God.
17:45 Mordecai the Jew, you'll regret this.
18:03 Queen Esther, this is a magnificent feast
18:07 that you have prepared.
18:08 You've outdone yourself.
18:10 Why the king couldn't eat another morsel.
18:14 But if you insist I'll have some bread
18:16 and these cherries and the grapes,
18:18 wonderful, wonderful.
18:21 A fine feast, your majesty. Excellent, hmm, excellent.
18:30 My beautiful queen, the king is aware
18:35 that you have asked us here this evening to ask a request of me.
18:41 You know, that I will grant to you any request.
18:44 Ye, even up to half of my kingdom.
18:49 What is your request?
18:51 My king, if it pleases you,
18:53 I would like for both you and Haman
18:55 to come again tomorrow night to another banquet
18:58 that I have prepared and then I will tell you my request.
19:05 Indeed we would be delighted to return to your table.
19:09 But, my queen, you must not keep
19:13 the king in suspense any longer.
19:17 One day more and then you shall reveal your request to the king.
19:27 Haman, let us return to the palace
19:30 for there's much more work to do
19:32 for my people and for the kingdom.
19:34 Yes, your majesty. Much work to do, lots and lots of work.
19:46 Oh God of our fathers,
19:48 I don't know what the future holds for me or for my people.
19:54 But I know You have a special plan for us
19:56 and I pray that You give me the strength
20:00 to trust You through all of it.
20:02 May Your name be praised forever.
20:26 He's able He's able
20:29 I know He's able
20:31 I know my Lord is able to carry me through
20:36 He's able He's able
20:39 I know that He's able
20:41 I know my Lord is able to carry me through
20:46 He healed the broken-hearted
20:48 And set the captives free
20:51 He made the lame to walk again
20:53 And caused the blind to see
20:55 I know He's able
20:57 He's able I know He's able
21:00 I know my Lord is able to carry me through
21:13 Hi, boys and girls,
21:15 it's time for Miss. Brenda's Book of the Day.
21:17 And today's book is called
21:19 "Prince of Dreams" by Bradley Booth.
21:22 And it's an exciting book about Daniel and his friends
21:25 and you won't want to miss it.
21:28 Well, I'm excited to have this time with you today,
21:30 because today I'm going to share some letters
21:33 that I received from you.
21:35 And I love it when you send the pictures, too,
21:38 and some of them have pictures,
21:39 so I'd like to share with you
21:42 all the ways that you share Jesus.
21:45 And if you have never written to me before,
21:47 I want to encourage you to do so,
21:48 so that we can get boys and girls
21:50 around the world lots of ideas of way
21:52 that they can witness, too.
21:54 So I have also emails-- I love the letters in the mail,
21:58 I love the emails. This email is from Canada.
22:02 It says, "Dear Miss. Brenda,
22:03 my name is Ebony and I'm 6 years old
22:06 and I really love Kids' Time.
22:08 I would like to be on Kids' Time,
22:09 but I live too far away.
22:11 I live in Calgary, Alberta.
22:13 I share Jesus by making my sister laugh.
22:16 My sister is 9 years old and her name is Melody Ann.
22:20 Melody Ann, has cerebral palsy.
22:22 She cannot eat by mouth, talk or walk,
22:26 but she really loves Jesus and Kids' Time, too."
22:29 And she said, "I have a picture of you,
22:31 I want to show you of my sister."
22:33 It says, "We are looking forward to heaven
22:36 when she will be able to talk, run, sing, and fly.
22:40 Won't that be fun?
22:42 Please, could you send us both an activity book
22:44 and sign us up for the Kids' Time lessons please.
22:48 And here's my phone number if you ever want to call me.
22:51 I'll look forward to talking to you some day.
22:53 Love from Melody Ann and from me Ebony."
22:56 Well, thank you so much and you're right Ebony
22:59 that pretty soon when we get to heaven
23:01 and we're with Jesus,
23:03 we won't have to have any wheelchairs anymore.
23:05 We won't have to have crutches.
23:08 We won't have to have eyeglasses,
23:10 we'll get new bodies and we won't have
23:13 any pain or sickness or illness.
23:15 Won't that be wonderful?
23:16 And you will get to run with your sister.
23:19 That will be awesome.
23:20 And that is a wonderful way to share Jesus right there
23:23 in your own family with your sister.
23:25 Okay. I have a letter here from Dominican.
23:28 And let's see what we have in here.
23:32 Oh, we got quite a few things in here.
23:34 Let's see this is curious.
23:36 Oh, we have a nice picture and it looks like--
23:39 oh, it looks you're all holding up certificates. Let's see.
23:42 It says, "Dear Miss. Brenda, Christian greetings
23:45 in the name of the Lord
23:46 and I want to show you your Kids Club members.
23:50 We have all finished your Bible lessons
23:53 and received our free Bibles.
23:55 And all our members are very, very happy
23:58 and we really are just writing to say thank you.
24:02 And from all your friends,
24:04 Patina Avast from West Indies in Dominican."
24:08 I'm so glad that you finished your lessons
24:11 and that they were a blessing to you
24:12 and look did you see that,
24:14 boys and girls, they all had their bibles.
24:15 Isn't that wonderful?
24:17 And when you finish all the lessons,
24:19 Miss. Brenda will send you a free Bible too.
24:21 Absolutely won't cost you anything at all.
24:24 Let's see here, we've got--
24:26 oh, I've got another picture in this envelop.
24:29 This one is from Riley, Texas. And let's what this is.
24:34 Oh, we've got a boy and a girl.
24:37 Let's see-oh, this is such a sweet picture.
24:39 "Dear, Miss. Brenda, my name is Dillon
24:42 and I will be 7 years old in July
24:44 and I would really like to tell you how much I like your show.
24:47 And I share Jesus by talking about the Bible
24:52 and I give out Gospel tracks and I also have been very kind."
24:56 It's said, "Please sign me up for Kids Club
25:00 and am I old enough?
25:01 Love, your friend, Dillon."
25:02 Dillon, there is no age limit on Bible studies.
25:05 You can take them at any age
25:07 and if you're even not old enough to read,
25:09 you can still sign up for kids club lesson
25:11 because you can have an adult help you.
25:14 So maybe your mom or your dad or your grandma, grandpa,
25:17 any adult can help you with the lessons.
25:18 So there is no age limit, no age restrictions,
25:22 you can sign up for Kids Club lessons
25:24 and we'll get just signed up, okay?
25:26 This one is from Richmond, Virginia.
25:29 And let's see what's going on here.
25:32 Oh, there's the picture of Miss. Brenda with you.
25:35 Let's see, it says, "Dear Miss. Brenda,
25:40 I really love Kids' Time
25:42 and I hope that you have a really nice day.
25:45 I had so much fun meeting you at Sabbath school. Love, Bella."
25:49 Well, thank you Bella
25:50 and it looks like I must have visited your classroom
25:53 and I'm glad I had a chance to meet you and look,
25:56 she drew a real cute picture of Miss. Brenda and Maxwell.
26:01 Look at that.
26:02 And there she has Bella, her name right there.
26:04 Isn't that cute?
26:06 Thank you for the picture, Bella,
26:07 and I'm glad I got a chance to meet you
26:09 and now there's one more picture here.
26:10 I think it's a close up of you and Miss. Brenda,
26:12 let's show that and there you are with Miss. Brenda.
26:17 Well, I'm glad I got a chance to see you, Bella.
26:20 Boys and girls, I want to encourage you
26:22 to witness for Jesus everyday, everywhere you go
26:25 even if it's just a smile
26:27 and you tell someone that Jesus loves them, okay?
26:30 Well, until the next time, remember, wherever you go
26:32 it's "Kids' Time" to share Jesus.
26:54 Kids' time.
27:17 Kids' time. Kids' time.
27:21 Kids' time.
27:25 Kids' time.
