00:01 It's almost time for Kids' Time.
00:03 We're gonna be late. 00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:11 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:24 Kids' Time, Kids' Time, Kids' Time, Kids' Time. 00:32 Hi, boys and girls. 00:34 Have you been sharing Jesus with your friends this week? 00:36 I hope so. 00:38 I try to share Jesus with someone new everyday. 00:40 You know, sometimes sharing Jesus has less to do 00:43 with what you say, and more to do with what you do. 00:47 People watch you, 00:48 even when you're not aware of it. 00:50 They're always trying to figure out 00:51 what kind of person you are 00:53 and why you do the things you do. 00:55 When you claim to be a Christian, 00:56 people watch to see 00:58 if your actions are in line with your words. 01:01 What you do tells them something about 01:03 who your God is. 01:05 If you're honest, and faithful, and true, 01:07 they decide that your God must also be honest, 01:09 and faithful, and true. 01:11 And sometimes that helps them to believe and trust in God. 01:15 That's what happened with Daniel a longtime ago. 01:18 He served a very important and powerful King 01:21 and everyday that King watched Daniel very closely. 01:26 We'll find out what happened to Daniel 01:27 and the King in our Bible story today. 01:29 But right now, let's -- oh, I'm sure Max is ready 01:33 and awake right now. 01:34 Don't you think it's only been a couple of seconds? 01:36 Oh, nope, he's sleeping again. 01:39 Let's get ready for Nature Time. 02:02 Hi, kids, welcome to Nature Time. 02:04 I'm so excited today. 02:06 We're in Grayling, Michigan at beautiful Camp Au Sable 02:09 and we got to talk about something about power. 02:12 Look at what's coming up, powerful horses. 02:14 These are some big horses 02:16 and they're carrying a log here with Charlie. 02:19 Look at that, man! 02:21 Charlie, are those logs heavy? 02:24 I sure couldn't pull them by myself. 02:26 Okay, I want to check. 02:27 Okay, you get me I'm gonna see. 02:32 I can't even budge these logs. 02:35 Man, that's a lot of weight. 02:36 So Charlie I got to ask you a question. 02:38 You don't look like a very big guy. 02:40 How much do you weigh? 185 pounds. 02:42 185, so what does one of these horses weigh? 02:45 Weigh around 2000 pounds. 02:46 Did you hear that kids? 02:47 2000 pounds, one horse. 02:50 So you've got 4000 pounds and yet you're able to get 02:54 these horses to do what you want. 02:56 How do you do that? 02:57 Due to these reins they're hooked up 02:59 to the bits in their mouths, okay. 03:00 And use a little a bit of pressure on it 03:02 and tell them what to do. 03:03 So they'll go forward and you can them back up, 03:05 go forth, go around? Yep. 03:07 They know that I like to pull now. 03:08 These horses are what kind of horses? 03:10 These are Belgians. These are Belgians. 03:12 Now they got other-- 03:13 Look at boy, they want to go, don't they? 03:16 Love it, this is so cool. 03:18 Okay now, these are Belgian horses, 03:21 they're huge and did they. 03:23 I think you were telling me they belong to some Amish. 03:25 Yep, before we got them, they were Amish work horses. 03:28 And because the Amish, they plow their fields 03:30 with horses like this. 03:31 Don't they? Yep. 03:33 That's what these guys did before they came here. 03:35 So if you, so I want to see 03:36 you turn them with these reins right now. 03:38 I want to see how you turn them 03:40 and make them go just a little bit. 03:41 See if you can make them go and make them stop. 03:43 Can you do that? 03:47 Can you stop them? 03:48 Oh. Wow. 03:49 Look at that. There it is, just. 03:52 Kids, isn't that cool? 03:54 Okay now, they've blinders on and that keeps them 03:56 what focused on their work? 03:58 Keeps them focused on where you're going with them. 04:00 That way they're not getting distracted 04:01 on everything beside them. 04:02 You know, kids, God is so powerful 04:05 and yet He's so gentle. 04:07 Think about that. 04:08 He created the world, that's powerful. 04:11 These horses are powerful but you told me 04:13 they're as gentle as can be. Yep. 04:15 These guys are some of the gentlest horses 04:17 we have up here at camp. 04:19 Can you, can you imagine seem like the bigger 04:21 something becomes the more gentle it becomes. 04:24 Mm-hmm. I mean-- 04:25 We call these our gentle giants. 04:26 Your gentle giants. That is so neat. 04:29 Well, you know, I think there's another 04:31 object lesson that we've got with these bits 04:34 and how that keeps them going and you can stop them. 04:36 Like right now, they want to go there. 04:38 They, they want to pull these logs. 04:39 They want to work, don't they? 04:40 They're ready to work. 04:41 They know that they've got it on. 04:42 Well, listen, Ranger Dwight 04:44 is going to do something neat right now. 04:46 I can't resist it. 04:47 Hey, Charlie, you think those horses could pull me too. 04:49 They're ready to work, hop right on. 04:50 Oh, this is going to be great. 04:55 Okay, hey, kids, nature is God's second book 04:58 Get out there and take a look. 05:00 Okay, Charlie, let's go. 05:05 Oh, this is awesome. 05:09 See you kids next time. 05:13 This is awesome, all right. 05:28 When God calls us to do something 05:30 and we're afraid to do it. 05:31 We can remember when God called Moses 05:33 to lead the children of Israel and He was afraid. 05:36 In Exodus 4:12 God reassured Him saying, 05:39 "Now therefore go and I will be with your mouth 05:42 and teach you what you should say." 05:48 Because so many need to know 05:54 It's up to you and me to go 05:59 Because so many need to know God calls us, God calls us 06:11 Because so many need to see. 06:16 That God alone can make them free 06:21 Because so many need to see God calls us God calls us 06:33 Because so many need to hear I want to be a volunteer 06:44 Because so many need to hear God calls us God calls us 06:54 God calls us, God calls us. 07:17 Welcome to Learning Time. 07:19 Glad you turned in. Hey, you know what. 07:21 You might be able to make a toy today. 07:23 Would you like to make a toy? 07:24 Yeah, this is a very unusual toy 07:28 and we're gonna need some helpers and I've got Atara. 07:30 Now, Atara, what do you want to be when you grow up? 07:34 Um, a missionary nurse. 07:37 Do you have a favorite animal? 07:38 Um, dogs and horses. Okay. 07:41 And Caleb, what is your favorite animal? 07:45 Dogs. A dog. 07:46 And what do you want to be when you grow up? 07:48 I like to be a missionary pilot. 07:50 Hey, that's sounds pretty exciting, doesn't it? 07:52 We have Catherine. 07:53 Now, Catherine, uh, do you have a favorite animal? 07:56 Yes. What is that? 07:57 A pony. Wow! 07:59 Hey, that's interesting. 08:00 Hey, let's get our helpers up here. 08:02 And in fact, we're gonna show you 08:04 how you can make a toy. 08:05 And in fact this is a very unusual toy 08:07 and you might have a container like these over here. 08:10 And let's see. 08:11 Let's see, Caleb, why don't I get you to, 08:13 to stay right here. 08:14 Okay, let's see what, how else can we move 08:16 some people around here. 08:17 Oh, I know what, Atara, why don't you go over here 08:19 and just can you sit down there by, 08:20 is that Noah, down there? 08:22 Okay, just sit by Noah and let's see 08:24 what we can come up with right here. 08:25 Now, what we have is a container. 08:27 And you know you can get cereal 08:29 and stuff in these containers like this. 08:30 And so I'm gonna have you put it down in front of you. 08:33 Okay, and then I want you to just roll it towards Atara. 08:36 Okay? Okay. 08:37 All right and, don't roll it very fast 08:40 okay because we don't wanna knock her over, do we? 08:42 Okay, can you move back a little more, Atara? 08:44 Okay, and go ahead and give it a roll. 08:46 Okay, give it a roll. 08:47 No, wait, wait, no don't touch it. 08:48 Don't touch it. Don't touch it. 08:50 And see what's gonna happen, oh no, what's it doing? 08:53 It's going back. 08:54 Why, do you think the floor is crooked? 08:56 No. No. 08:58 Hey, you know what, why don't you try that again? 09:01 The floor is leveled 09:02 but what's happening to our little toy. 09:04 What did it do? It went back. 09:07 It came back, go try it again. 09:08 Come on here we go. 09:09 Just gonna roll it over there. 09:10 That's gonna run into the grass I think. 09:12 What, what, what, here, look at there and it comes back. 09:15 Why do you suppose, Atara, it comes back? 09:19 What's that? 09:20 I don't know, you don't know. 09:22 You think there's a little person in there 09:24 trying to roll it back, no. 09:26 Would you like to know the secret inside the box? 09:28 Would you like to know the secret? 09:29 Yeah, his is what I have. 09:30 I've a container very similar to that. 09:33 And let's check it. Why don't you open that? 09:34 Can you open that up for us? 09:36 And let's see what's inside. 09:37 Yeah, open it up. 09:38 And why don't you tip it over. 09:39 And put everything down here. 09:41 Let's check it out. Tip it over. 09:42 Can you tip it over? Cool. 09:43 Oh, something hard in there. What's that? 09:46 Bolt. Can you hold that for us? 09:47 And it has what hold it by those two rubber bands. 09:50 There is rubber bands and a little bolt 09:52 well actually that's a big bolt isn't it? 09:53 Yeah, right, 09:54 and then we have some, these are what? 09:55 These are little... Paperclips. 09:57 They're paperclips and what you do is this. 10:00 You just take and poke a hole right here. 10:03 And you poke a hole in the cover 10:05 and you stretch the rubber band 10:07 all the way through our cylinder 10:09 and then you put a paperclip 10:11 on the other side of the rubber band 10:13 so the paperclip will stay right there. 10:15 And that's what's happening right there. 10:17 See, there's a paperclip right there. 10:19 And a paperclip and we put some tape on it. 10:21 And then you put the lid back on after all that. 10:24 And what happens, when this rolls 10:26 what happens to the rubber band and the bolt? 10:31 It's like a wind up toy. 10:33 And that wind up toy just winds up the rubber band. 10:35 Yeah, do that again. 10:37 Yeah, winds it up just like that. 10:38 It goes around and around and once it goes 10:40 and winds up to where Atara is, 10:43 it unwinds and it rolls this cylinder back to us. 10:48 Isn't that cool, Caleb? Yeah. 10:49 That's cool and so it stores up all that energy. 10:52 Would you like to make an energy toy? 10:55 Yeah. And it won't hardly... 10:58 You can use a rock. 10:59 You don't have to use a bolt like that. 11:01 And you can use a rubber band. 11:02 You can use everything 11:03 that you might find in your house. 11:04 And that's really cool to make your own toys. 11:07 And that's very interesting. 11:08 And there's a lot of physics in there as well. 11:10 You know what, energy is good, isn't it? 11:13 Catherine, you have a lot of energy inside of you. 11:15 Yeah do you have rubber bands like that inside of you 11:17 winding up so that you can run. 11:19 You do! 11:20 Wow, well that's cool, isn't it? 11:22 Do you know, you and I, we don't get our energies 11:24 from rubber bands, do we? No. 11:27 No, because that would be bad news. 11:29 But, you know, God has given you and I food, 11:31 all kinds of different foods 11:33 and variety of foods for us to eat. 11:35 So that we can get that stored energy from the food 11:38 and it goes right into our lives, 11:40 in our body and healthy 11:41 and that gives us the vital energy 11:43 that you and I need in order to run. 11:45 And I wanna run for Jesus. 11:47 How many of you want to run for Jesus? 11:48 Me, I wanna run for Jesus. 11:50 I wanna have all that energy inside. 11:53 You know when we study science, 11:54 because this is a lot of science 11:56 in this little container right here. 11:57 You know, when we study science 11:59 and we do little projects like this, 12:02 we're learning more about our Creator God. 12:24 Your Majesty! 12:25 Yes, my Queen. 12:26 If it pleases you, I've a request to make. 12:29 Please. 12:30 Well, I've prepared a banquet for you for tonight. 12:32 A banquet, oh, how delightful! 12:35 Yes. 12:36 Your favorite food will be served 12:38 and there will be music. 12:39 Music. Yes. 12:41 You've been working so hard this week, 12:42 I thought, you could use some relaxation. 12:43 Oh, how thoughtful of you, my Queen. 12:46 Of course, I'm so looking forward to it. 12:49 King Darius, three of your officials 12:51 once more request an audience with you. 12:54 Permission granted. 12:55 You may enter. 13:01 Oh, King Darius, live forever. 13:03 Live forever, Your Majesty. Speak. 13:06 You Majesty, did you not sign a decree 13:09 that for these 30 days, 13:10 you and you alone were to be worshiped. 13:12 Yes, of course, I did. 13:14 And that the punishment for that crime 13:16 that if you weren't the only one served 13:18 would be being thrown 13:20 into the lion's den. Of course, I said all of that. 13:21 We just went over this. 13:22 Yes. What is it? 13:26 Well, we've found one in your kingdom 13:29 who is not worshiping you right now, what? 13:32 Yes, he's praying to his own God as we speak. 13:34 Who is this insolent, I just made that decree. 13:36 Who dare defy me? 13:38 My word is law in all of Medo Persia. 13:42 It's Daniel. 13:45 He serves his God three times daily and not you, 13:48 Your Majesty. Daniel! 13:51 Daniel? What in-- 13:56 of course, I should have known. 13:58 He's been praying to his God for years. 14:01 I've always known this. 14:03 Ah, how could I forgot, 14:04 how could I've been so, so foolish. 14:10 You tricked me. 14:11 You tricked me. You knew all along. 14:14 You knew all along that Daniel was in your sights. 14:17 That's why you put me up to this. 14:19 I'll think of something, away with you. 14:22 Guards, away with them. 14:30 Your Majesty. Daniel. 14:34 Oh, Daniel, my most trusted adviser. 14:39 I know how much he meant to you. 14:41 My friend, there's no way out of this. 14:47 My word is law. I can't reverse this. 14:53 Guards, 14:58 go to Daniel's quarters, arrest him, 15:03 and take him to the lion's den. 15:08 And guard, guard tell Daniel that the God 15:13 that he prays to continuously will protect him and that I, 15:18 I will be in the morning to check on him. 15:22 Go now. 15:27 Your Majesty, you must take your mind of this -- 15:31 The banquet tonight, the music. 15:33 No, no. 15:34 You must have something to eat. No, no, no banquet, no music. 15:38 I must be alone tonight. 15:41 Dan... Guards, leave. 15:50 Daniel, my most trusted adviser. 15:57 My friend, Daniel. Daniel, what have I done? 16:05 What have I done? 16:12 I fasted all night. 16:14 I thought morning would never come. 16:16 Daniel, Daniel. 16:20 Daniel, servant of the living God. 16:22 Has the God whom you pray to continuously 16:24 has he delivered you from the lion's den. 16:27 Yes, oh, King. I'm alive. 16:35 Your Highness, live forever, my God, He sent an angel, 16:40 who shut the lion's mouths because I was found innocent 16:44 before both you and him. 16:47 I've committed no crime. 16:48 Guards remove the stone. 16:51 Get him out of there quickly. 16:57 Oh, not a scratch. 17:02 Yes, I was down there and the Lord sent an angel. 17:05 And those fierce lions didn't come near me 17:08 the whole night. 17:11 Guards, arrest all those and their families 17:15 who plotted against Daniel. 17:17 And deliver them to the lion's den. 17:18 Immediately, go now. 17:22 Now everyone in my kingdom will know that the God 17:26 whom Daniel serves is the one and only true God. 17:31 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 17:51 Heavenly sunshine heavenly sunshine 17:55 Budding my soul with glory divine 17:59 Heavenly sunshine heavenly sunshine 18:03 Hallelujah, Jesus is mine 18:07 Heavenly sunshine heavenly sunshine 18:11 Budding my soul with glory divine 18:15 Heavenly sunshine heavenly sunshine 18:19 Hallelujah, Jesus is mine! 18:36 Hi, boys and girls, 18:37 it's time for Miss Brenda's book of the day. 18:40 And today's book is a book called, 18:42 More Than You See by Marybeth Gessele. 18:46 This is a very special book, boys and girls, 18:48 because it's a book about how to treat people and children 18:53 and others that have disabilities 18:55 that might be different than you and I, 18:56 to treat them with love and respect and kindness. 18:59 Someone that knows a lot about that is here with me today. 19:04 I want you to meet Alana. 19:05 Hi, Alana. Hello. 19:07 And I wanna thank you so much for being here. 19:09 You've read this book and would you agree 19:11 that this is a book everyone should read. 19:12 Yes, it teaches you a lot about treating kids 19:17 that are different from you with respect-- 19:19 And that's important. Yeah. 19:21 They really just wanna be treated 19:23 like other normal people. 19:24 That's right. That's right. 19:26 And so many of us we don't if they, 19:27 if someone else is different than us, 19:29 then sometimes, you know, as children or kids 19:32 you can, you know, treat them in a way 19:35 that's not pleasing to God, right, yeah. 19:38 We, all of us need to be treated with respect 19:40 and God made us all different, didn't he. 19:42 So he, we're all different than each other 19:44 and we all have different talents that he's given us. 19:47 We look different and that's awesome. 19:50 Wouldn't that be boring if we were all the same, 19:52 boys and girls? Wouldn't that be boring? 19:53 I think so, right? Yeah. 19:55 Um, well, you have a real passion for helping people. 19:58 What do you do to share Jesus? 20:00 My friend and I, my friend, Paris, 20:03 and I-- Yes, and you're from what state? 20:04 We're from Washington State. Washington State. 20:07 By the way, I'm coming to your state very soon 20:09 to speak in your state actually, 20:11 so hope you can come. 20:12 So your friend, and you live in Washington, 20:14 your friend's name is Paris, yeah. 20:16 And we have been raising money for a therapeutic playground. 20:22 And what is a therapeutic playground? 20:25 It's a playground. 20:26 It's different from a normal playground. 20:28 Because it's more suited for the needs of the children 20:32 that have autism 20:34 and other mental and physical illnesses. 20:38 Or challenges that maybe those people that, 20:40 you know, that have physical challenges 20:42 and they wouldn't be able to play 20:44 on a regular playground, would they? 20:46 Yeah, and they don't get along with other kids as well 20:49 because the other kids don't know 20:50 how to act around them. 20:52 They treat them differently 20:54 and they don't like to be treated differently, no. 20:56 They like to be treated just like a normal person. 20:59 Yeah, I don't blame them. 21:00 Do you? No. 21:02 That's a good thing so, 21:03 so you really felt the burden of your heart, 21:05 you and your friend, Paris decided 21:06 you wanted to do this for them. 21:09 What did you do? 21:10 How did you make it happen? 21:11 Well, we called the local mental health services, yes. 21:15 And we, they offered us projects, yes. 21:21 They offered some smaller projects. 21:24 But we didn't feel like it was the right thing to do. 21:26 Okay, and then they offered us this playground project. 21:30 And we were eleven then, and they, they said 21:33 well it's $30,000 and we're like, okay, 21:36 we'll do that. 21:38 Now, did you think, $30,000, 21:40 how are we gonna get that kind of money? 21:42 Well, we didn't even know what we were getting into. 21:45 We didn't even comprehend $30,000, right. 21:48 Because that's a lot of money. 21:49 Might as well have been 30 million right. 21:50 That would be like. Yes. 21:52 And so we started making a funding plan 21:57 and a presentation and PowerPoint. 22:01 And we started going places, churches, 22:05 and service groups and they were all really generous. 22:08 So-- I guess so. 22:09 And so how much money did you raise? 22:11 $38,000. $38,000. 22:13 8,000 more dollars than they actually needed. 22:16 Isn't that awesome, boys and girls? 22:18 Oh, that's wonderful 22:19 and did the playground get built? 22:20 Yep. We built it in September. 22:23 You did. Yes. 22:24 Well, now you brought some pictures with, with you. 22:26 Let's show the boys and girls. 22:27 Can you hold this picture up. 22:28 This is the actual playground that was built. 22:30 If you hold it up like this. 22:32 There you go. Hold it. 22:33 Look at that, boys and girls. 22:35 Isn't that awesome! 22:36 And, you can see all different kinds of slides and swings 22:40 and that looks like a fun cool playground. 22:42 Doesn't it? Yeah, and then. 22:43 This shows the volunteers we got. 22:46 Like 20 something volunteers to come 22:50 and help dug the playground, wow! 22:52 And here's the ribbon cutting ceremony. 22:54 This is pretty cool. And you show that one. 22:56 And you must have been excited that day, were you? 22:59 Yeah, I was really, it was a really long day 23:01 because we got up early to go and help build the playground. 23:05 And they were reporters coming 23:08 and then it was finally built. 23:09 And we got to cut the ribbon. 23:10 And even the Mayor of your city came. 23:12 I heard. Yes, the Mayor came. 23:14 And you were presented a award in fact. 23:16 Let me show you this award, boys and girls. 23:19 Isn't that awesome? 23:20 And that was, now where is this award at today? 23:24 Uh, we have, we each got one, and-- 23:29 And so do you have it hanging in your wall 23:31 or in your bedroom or... Its... 23:35 You don't, you don't remember right? 23:36 Yeah, I don't remember. 23:37 Which you know is a wonderful thing 23:38 because you didn't do it for the reward. 23:40 Yeah. That was the thing. 23:41 We didn't even think we were getting an award. 23:43 Well, someone nominated us for it. 23:45 And then they didn't even tell us. 23:48 So then we find out that we're getting this award. 23:52 Oh, you know, and that's the way it should be. 23:55 Because we shouldn't want to do something for others 23:57 just to get the reward. Right. 23:59 You did it for the right reasons because Jesus is in your heart. 24:02 What would you say to others? 24:04 Um, kids out there that are watching right now. 24:06 And maybe they're thinking, there isn't anything I can do. 24:10 What would you say to them? 24:11 God will always make a way. 24:13 You can always do something 24:15 and he will just definitely lead. 24:18 That's right. And how old are you? 24:20 I'm 13. You're 13. Yeah. 24:22 And so you started that project a year and a half ago 24:25 and God has really blessed. 24:27 Have you had a chance to actually go 24:28 and see the actual kids playing on it? 24:30 Yeah, we got to play with the kids, really. 24:33 And then we got to meet them and it was really cool. 24:35 That was my favorite part of the whole thing. 24:37 Was getting to meet the kids 24:39 and see them play on the playground. 24:40 That's when it was real. Exactly. 24:43 Oh, isn't that wonderful? 24:46 Well, Alana, there's, I think might be time for me 24:49 to read a quick letter here. 24:51 Oh, I think there's a picture. 24:52 Maybe, if you just hold it up like this for me, okay. 24:56 And there's a bookmark in here too. 24:58 And it says, "I can do all things through Christ 25:01 who strengthens me." 25:02 See that one right there. 25:04 Oh, and guess what else I have in here. 25:06 Three dollars, says, Dear Ms. Brenda, 25:09 my name is Joshua and I'm 10 years old 25:11 and I'm writing to you from St. Louis, Missouri. 25:14 I really want to get signed up for Kids Club lessons, 25:17 and I want an activity book. 25:18 My favorite part about Kids' Time is cooking, 25:21 because I love food. Love, Joshua. P.S., 25:24 There's something in there for you 25:25 and by the way are you part French. 25:28 I'm part Korean, German, French, Irish and Scottish. 25:31 And here's the money to help support your Kids' Time program 25:34 and I love Learning Time too. 25:36 And then, look, he's got we're in heaven 25:39 and he gave a picture of himself and I in heaven. 25:43 Oh Joshua, thank you so much for sending your letter. 25:47 I love your artwork 25:48 and I thank you for your financial support too. 25:51 Well, I wanna thank you, Alana, 25:52 for being here all the way from Washington to show us 25:55 and tell us what you did it to share Jesus. 25:57 Are you ready for your next project? 25:58 I sure am. 26:00 And have you thought about what that would be? 26:01 Still praying about it. 26:03 You know that's the only thing to do. 26:04 Boys and girls, pray about everything. 26:06 Well, until next time, remember you wanna help me. 26:09 It's Kids' Time to share Jesus. |
