Do you ever worry 00:00:31.65\00:00:33.85 about what others think about you? 00:00:33.86\00:00:35.67 Does it change the way you act around them? 00:00:35.68\00:00:37.94 Do you ever feel ashamed or embarrassed 00:00:37.95\00:00:39.98 to have others see you pray? 00:00:39.99\00:00:41.82 You know, it is always been my practice 00:00:41.83\00:00:43.60 to bow my head and pray over my meals, 00:00:43.61\00:00:45.87 even when I'm in public 00:00:45.88\00:00:47.11 and other people are watching. 00:00:47.12\00:00:48.59 Some people think it's great, but people, 00:00:48.60\00:00:51.03 who don't love Jesus may think, 00:00:51.04\00:00:52.62 it's a little silly. 00:00:52.63\00:00:53.99 I do it anyway, because my relationship 00:00:54.00\00:00:56.46 with Jesus is far more important to me 00:00:56.47\00:00:58.35 than what other people think. 00:00:58.36\00:01:00.11 That was true of the brave man 00:01:00.12\00:01:01.83 in our Bible story today. 00:01:01.84\00:01:03.84 But he wasn't just praying over a meal, 00:01:03.85\00:01:06.18 and he didn't just have to worry 00:01:06.19\00:01:07.94 about what other people thought of him. 00:01:07.95\00:01:10.06 He had to worry about being killed, that's right. 00:01:10.07\00:01:13.69 But this man didn't care 00:01:13.70\00:01:14.89 what other people thought of him 00:01:14.90\00:01:16.23 and he didn't care if he was killed either. 00:01:16.24\00:01:18.96 No law on earth was going to keep him 00:01:18.97\00:01:21.20 from praying out in the open 00:01:21.21\00:01:22.89 just as he always did to the God of heaven. 00:01:22.90\00:01:26.61 Now that took a lot of courage, 00:01:26.62\00:01:28.18 didn't it boys and girls? 00:01:28.19\00:01:29.39 And God blessed him for his courage. 00:01:29.40\00:01:31.88 We'll find out how in just a little while, 00:01:31.89\00:01:35.01 but first lets get ready for our Nature Time. 00:01:35.02\00:01:39.40 Welcome to Nature Time. 00:01:45.87\00:01:47.20 You know, I love animals so much 00:01:47.21\00:01:48.98 and we're at Binder Park Zoo, 00:01:48.99\00:01:50.73 so I can see all these animals 00:01:50.74\00:01:52.50 and you can see them too 00:01:52.51\00:01:53.63 right here at Battle Creek, Michigan. 00:01:53.64\00:01:56.02 Alex is here and gonna help us 00:01:56.03\00:01:57.51 with some of these animals. 00:01:57.52\00:01:58.85 Alex, what did you got today? 00:01:58.86\00:02:02.03 Well, Ranger Dwight, I have two domestic rats. 00:02:02.04\00:02:05.42 Rats. Yep, 00:02:05.43\00:02:07.07 they might not be your favorite animals, 00:02:07.08\00:02:08.08 but they are a great animal to work with here in zoo. 00:02:09.39\00:02:12.26 Rats are really, really smart animals. 00:02:12.27\00:02:15.94 So I just have to be honest kids, 00:02:15.95\00:02:18.34 I am not a rat lover, around our house 00:02:18.35\00:02:20.85 we don't like rats around. 00:02:20.86\00:02:22.16 But I was watching in your nature show Alex, 00:02:22.17\00:02:25.23 was that these two rats that were running? 00:02:25.24\00:02:26.98 Yes it was. And it was pretty cool kids 00:02:26.99\00:02:29.52 watching them what they were doing. 00:02:29.53\00:02:30.93 They are a smart little animal, aren't they? 00:02:30.94\00:02:32.55 They are very, very smart and they're also very agile. 00:02:32.56\00:02:35.55 They're really fast and they have great claws 00:02:35.56\00:02:38.27 on all four of their little feet. 00:02:38.28\00:02:39.86 So they can climb up anything, 00:02:39.87\00:02:41.24 I can hear little paws climbing on your shirt. 00:02:41.25\00:02:44.12 Now can I pat one of these things? 00:02:44.13\00:02:45.94 You sure can. 00:02:45.95\00:02:47.24 I think I will kids, I don't think 00:02:47.25\00:02:48.47 I've ever pat a rat in my life. 00:02:48.48\00:02:50.01 Oh, they got kind of nice fur. 00:02:50.02\00:02:52.08 And one of the coolest parts 00:02:52.09\00:02:53.22 is actually if you wanna pat their tail. Wow. 00:02:53.23\00:02:57.75 Most people think that their tails 00:02:57.76\00:02:59.26 are completely hairless. 00:02:59.27\00:03:00.86 But they're actually very, very soft 00:03:00.87\00:03:02.72 and they covered with lots of tiny little hairs. 00:03:02.73\00:03:05.30 That is amazing. 00:03:05.31\00:03:07.00 So now how many little ones will a rat have? 00:03:07.01\00:03:10.94 Like a litter or what-- how many? 00:03:10.95\00:03:12.28 Yeah, they will have a litter 00:03:12.29\00:03:13.35 and they can have up to 12, 15 00:03:13.36\00:03:16.38 maybe even 20 babies at a time. 00:03:16.39\00:03:19.10 Twenty babies, that's a bunch. 00:03:19.11\00:03:21.26 That is. But fortunately for us 00:03:21.27\00:03:23.19 rats don't live a long time, 00:03:23.20\00:03:24.83 because if they did producing that many babies 00:03:24.84\00:03:27.46 there would be rats everywhere. 00:03:27.47\00:03:29.49 Well I am glad we don't have rats everywhere now. 00:03:29.50\00:03:32.78 We're gonna be talking about another creature 00:03:32.79\00:03:37.07 that don't like these rats too. 00:03:37.08\00:03:38.68 That's right. We should probably 00:03:38.69\00:03:40.23 get these rats out of here 00:03:40.24\00:03:41.64 before we bring our next animal in 00:03:41.65\00:03:43.28 Kids' this is amazing. 00:03:43.29\00:03:45.86 Wow, look at this thing. 00:03:45.87\00:03:47.45 These two animals don't get along. 00:03:47.46\00:03:50.65 Wow, do you see that kids'? 00:03:50.66\00:03:52.80 Wow, look at that. 00:03:52.81\00:03:53.81 Now this is a-- obviously this is a snake 00:03:53.82\00:03:56.00 but what kind of a snake? 00:03:56.01\00:03:57.11 This is called a Dumeril's Ground Boa, 00:03:57.12\00:03:59.47 it's also called the Madagascar Ground Boa. 00:03:59.48\00:04:01.96 So it's a boa. And this is in Madagascar 00:04:01.97\00:04:05.41 which is an island of Africa. Yeah. 00:04:05.42\00:04:08.48 And it's only found there you say. 00:04:08.49\00:04:09.78 That's right that is the only place 00:04:09.79\00:04:11.19 in the whole world where these snakes are found. 00:04:11.20\00:04:13.13 Now how big will this one get. 00:04:13.14\00:04:15.06 This one will probably get to be about eight 00:04:15.07\00:04:17.38 or nine feet long. So-- 00:04:17.39\00:04:18.51 I mean that's like, wow. 00:04:18.52\00:04:19.65 Yeah, little bit bigger than she is right now. 00:04:19.66\00:04:22.42 Now how do they like a rat or rabbit-- 00:04:22.43\00:04:26.25 or whatever how do they kill their prey? 00:04:26.26\00:04:28.30 That is a very good question. 00:04:28.31\00:04:29.70 This is actually what we call a constrictor. 00:04:29.71\00:04:31.78 If you can see she's kind of wrapping around my hand. 00:04:31.79\00:04:34.94 They're very good at that. 00:04:34.95\00:04:36.13 So this is a non-venomous snake it doesn't have fangs. 00:04:36.14\00:04:39.48 I am glad about that kids. 00:04:39.49\00:04:40.72 It's like say a rattlesnake. Yeah. 00:04:40.73\00:04:42.66 Exactly I probably wouldn't be holding it if it were. 00:04:42.67\00:04:45.54 You know, I saw that just a little bit ago 00:04:45.55\00:04:47.91 we had Melissa another one of the park 00:04:47.92\00:04:50.51 people here and the kids, 00:04:50.52\00:04:52.00 some of the Kids Time kids were petting it. 00:04:52.01\00:04:53.92 So this obviously is a tamed one. 00:04:53.93\00:04:55.89 That's right. This snake has lived here 00:04:55.90\00:04:57.43 its entire life and it is very friendly. 00:04:57.44\00:05:00.01 And it's just a great experience for kids 00:05:00.02\00:05:02.47 to find out that snakes aren't really slimy. 00:05:02.48\00:05:05.21 They're actually very dry and smooth. 00:05:05.22\00:05:07.00 So I can touch this. 00:05:07.01\00:05:08.48 Now, you know, kids this is really neat. 00:05:08.49\00:05:10.54 My grandson Brady, he touches 00:05:10.55\00:05:13.46 and he already said Alex, he said, 00:05:13.47\00:05:15.01 oh that feels like a basketball. 00:05:15.02\00:05:17.53 And it kind of does, it's got that scale 00:05:17.54\00:05:20.19 that feels almost like a basketball cover. 00:05:20.20\00:05:21.78 It does kind of feel like a basketball. 00:05:21.79\00:05:23.61 Now when they--now how many young do they have? 00:05:23.62\00:05:25.88 They will lay eggs. 00:05:25.89\00:05:27.13 They usually lay between 20 and 30 eggs 00:05:27.14\00:05:29.54 probably for this species of snake. 00:05:29.55\00:05:32.39 And they--once they lay them, 00:05:32.40\00:05:33.66 they'll move on and those little baby snakes 00:05:33.67\00:05:35.80 will hatch out and they'll be on their own. 00:05:35.81\00:05:37.48 Right away. Yep. 00:05:37.49\00:05:38.79 Well, and then how long do they live? 00:05:38.80\00:05:41.80 Reptiles in general will live a long time. 00:05:41.81\00:05:44.44 So snake like this would probably live 00:05:44.45\00:05:46.11 20 or maybe even 25 years. 00:05:46.12\00:05:48.07 That is a long time. 00:05:48.08\00:05:50.44 Well, you know kids, I was thinking 00:05:50.45\00:05:52.00 as Alex was telling me that these snakes will, 00:05:52.01\00:05:56.20 they squeeze that's why they're called constrictors, 00:05:56.21\00:05:58.34 Boa constrictors. And they will squeeze 00:05:58.35\00:06:00.22 their prey and you know what? 00:06:00.23\00:06:01.74 That should be a lesson to us 00:06:01.75\00:06:03.08 we should never let go, 00:06:03.09\00:06:04.14 Alex, didn't you say that. 00:06:04.15\00:06:05.56 They can hold on for hours. They can. 00:06:05.57\00:06:08.06 So we need to hold on to Jesus kids. 00:06:08.07\00:06:10.39 Alex, thank you so much for being with us here. 00:06:10.40\00:06:12.98 I appreciate it. 00:06:12.99\00:06:14.03 My pleasure, Ranger Dwight. 00:06:14.04\00:06:15.78 Nature's got second book, 00:06:15.79\00:06:17.85 get out there and take a look. 00:06:17.86\00:06:20.70 This is neat. 00:06:20.71\00:06:22.56 Welcome to Learning Time. 00:08:50.00\00:08:51.52 I'm glad you joined us today. 00:08:51.53\00:08:53.55 You know, how many of you have friends? 00:08:53.56\00:08:55.00 Anybody have friends? 00:08:55.01\00:08:56.48 Yeah, and I'm sure that everyone knows someone. 00:08:56.49\00:08:58.94 Now look at Maxwell down here. 00:08:58.95\00:09:01.03 Now, if Maxwell was walking down the highway 00:09:01.04\00:09:03.74 or down the side walk in your neighborhood, 00:09:03.75\00:09:06.08 would you know that it was Maxwell? Yeah. 00:09:06.09\00:09:09.08 All right, if you knew Maxwell well enough 00:09:09.09\00:09:10.89 you would know that it was Maxwell. 00:09:10.90\00:09:12.59 You certainly wouldn't know-- 00:09:12.60\00:09:13.80 you certainly wouldn't get him confused with a cat, 00:09:13.81\00:09:16.26 would you? No. 00:09:16.27\00:09:18.00 I don't think so. Well, you know, 00:09:18.01\00:09:19.54 it's probably a little easier 00:09:19.55\00:09:21.67 to think about people that you know. 00:09:21.68\00:09:23.82 Sometimes we see them just for a glance 00:09:23.83\00:09:26.19 and we know who they are, 00:09:26.20\00:09:27.44 because we recognize them by their features. 00:09:27.45\00:09:30.23 Now I've got something special I want to show you, 00:09:30.24\00:09:32.42 I have a picture of a friend of mine and oh, 00:09:32.43\00:09:35.75 you know what? We need some helpers. 00:09:35.76\00:09:37.92 Oh, I forgot, I forgot about my helpers. 00:09:37.93\00:09:40.11 Now, Noah is gonna help us. Now, Noah 00:09:40.12\00:09:41.92 you have an interesting dog, don't you? 00:09:41.93\00:09:45.28 Well, my dog is sort of like Maxwell, 00:09:45.29\00:09:47.36 but he has one eye 00:09:47.37\00:09:48.38 and he's a little bit smaller. 00:09:48.39\00:09:49.80 Wow, that's interesting. 00:09:49.81\00:09:51.45 Well, and Noah is gonna help us today and Maloney. 00:09:51.46\00:09:55.47 What do you want to be? And Nathan, 00:10:01.19\00:10:04.44 what do you like to do best? 00:10:04.45\00:10:06.41 I like to make movies. 00:10:06.42\00:10:08.54 Cool, making movies. 00:10:08.55\00:10:10.05 Well, all of those things are very interesting. 00:10:10.06\00:10:12.14 And I want my helpers to come on up here. 00:10:12.15\00:10:13.78 And if you would just stand over here 00:10:13.79\00:10:15.93 and I have got something underneath this towel 00:10:15.94\00:10:18.77 that I want to show you, okay. 00:10:18.78\00:10:19.86 I want to you back up a little more, 00:10:19.87\00:10:21.16 because I'm gonna need a little bit space over here. 00:10:21.17\00:10:23.83 Now, I brought a picture of someone that I know. 00:10:23.84\00:10:27.16 It's a personal friend of mine 00:10:27.17\00:10:28.59 and I don't know if you know this friend or not, 00:10:28.60\00:10:30.44 but you just might, okay. 00:10:30.45\00:10:32.89 Let's see, it's under this little towel right here. 00:10:32.90\00:10:35.78 And how many friends do you have Melody? 00:10:35.79\00:10:37.94 Oh, like two. 00:10:37.95\00:10:40.98 Got two friends. 00:10:40.99\00:10:42.01 Yeah. Wow. 00:11:30.94\00:11:33.26 Well, now wait a minute, now wait a minute 00:11:33.27\00:11:35.06 are you trying to tell me that you like 00:11:35.07\00:11:37.47 my friend's picture better upside down. Yeah. 00:11:37.48\00:11:41.98 Do you like it better upside down? Yeah. 00:11:41.99\00:11:45.37 Well, isn't that amazing? 00:11:45.38\00:11:48.35 Well, you know what? 00:11:48.36\00:11:49.47 We've kind of doctored up the picture of Miss Brenda, 00:11:49.48\00:11:52.67 haven't we? Yeah. 00:11:52.68\00:11:53.95 Yeah, really, really good. 00:11:53.96\00:11:56.18 And I hope she forgive us for doing this. 00:11:56.19\00:11:58.68 But it's really a good science example. 00:11:58.69\00:12:00.90 You know what happens? 00:12:00.91\00:12:03.20 You know what happens? 00:12:03.21\00:12:04.40 When you and I look at somebody 00:12:04.41\00:12:06.00 when we're visiting our friends, 00:12:06.01\00:12:07.29 you know what we do? 00:12:07.30\00:12:08.41 We key off of their eyes 00:12:08.42\00:12:09.82 and their mouth. That's right. 00:12:09.83\00:12:10.89 We look at their eyes and their mouth. 00:12:10.90\00:12:12.76 But this picture being, 00:12:12.77\00:12:14.49 right side up has her mouth and eyes upside down. 00:12:14.50\00:12:18.62 But when I put the picture completely upside down, 00:12:18.63\00:12:22.16 it doesn't bother us as much 00:12:22.17\00:12:24.66 because her eyes and her mouth 00:12:24.67\00:12:26.96 are both right side up. 00:12:26.97\00:12:29.37 Don't you like that better? Yeah. 00:12:29.38\00:12:31.82 Don't you like that worse? Yeah. 00:12:31.83\00:12:34.54 Okay. And you know what in order for us 00:12:34.55\00:12:36.73 to make sure that we know 00:12:36.74\00:12:37.86 what Miss Brenda really looks like. 00:12:37.87\00:12:40.20 We got a picture that's not doctored up at all 00:12:40.21\00:12:42.92 and here it is. 00:12:42.93\00:12:44.34 Isn't that the way she looks? Yeah. 00:12:44.35\00:12:46.16 Isn't that the way she looks? Yeah. 00:12:46.17\00:12:48.73 And everything is right where it should be 00:12:48.74\00:12:51.55 which is really the way it should be. 00:12:51.56\00:12:53.77 Well, you know what? 00:12:53.78\00:12:54.84 That kind of reminds me of something. 00:12:54.85\00:12:56.53 Because you know sometimes you 00:12:56.54\00:12:59.33 and I might look at the world 00:12:59.34\00:13:01.35 and sometimes it doesn't, doesn't make much sense. 00:13:01.36\00:13:04.98 Because it just kind of looks upside down to us 00:13:04.99\00:13:07.77 so like her mouth and her eyes. 00:13:07.78\00:13:09.68 But you know we can't tell 00:13:09.69\00:13:10.94 what the world is about sometimes 00:13:10.95\00:13:12.90 without you and I getting close to Jesus and the Bible. 00:13:12.91\00:13:16.43 And the Bible can help us to figure out the world, 00:13:16.44\00:13:19.86 because sometimes the world doesn't make 00:13:19.87\00:13:21.90 much sense to us, isn't that great? Yeah. 00:13:21.91\00:13:24.27 That's what I want to do. 00:13:24.28\00:13:25.90 And you know what? Next time you look 00:13:25.91\00:13:27.57 at your friends think about it. 00:13:27.58\00:13:29.41 Next time you look at anyone just think about it. 00:13:29.42\00:13:31.38 We look at their eyes and we look at their mouths, 00:13:31.39\00:13:33.56 we just don't look at all the rest of their features 00:13:33.57\00:13:36.35 and if they're upside down it really bothers us, 00:13:36.36\00:13:38.59 doesn't it? Yeah. 00:13:38.60\00:13:40.23 Well, remember when we learn more about science, 00:13:40.24\00:13:43.50 we're learning more about our creator God. 00:13:43.51\00:13:48.48 Oh, the music is so relaxing, isn't it your majesty? 00:14:01.94\00:14:06.19 Indeed it is my queen. 00:14:06.20\00:14:07.75 But this is a happy time. 00:14:07.76\00:14:09.98 Today I'm going to appoint three of my wise men 00:14:09.99\00:14:13.22 as governors of all my rulers. 00:14:13.23\00:14:15.01 Oh, how wonderful. 00:14:15.02\00:14:16.54 Wonderful indeed. 00:14:16.55\00:14:18.13 Oh, King Darius live forever, 00:14:18.14\00:14:20.13 your rulers have arrived. 00:14:20.14\00:14:21.46 Send them in. 00:14:21.47\00:14:22.87 You may enter. 00:14:22.88\00:14:24.90 Today, I King Darius has special news. 00:14:32.89\00:14:37.79 As leader of the Medes and Persians, 00:14:37.80\00:14:41.54 king of the most vast empire. 00:14:41.55\00:14:44.95 Appointing over 120 rulers 00:14:44.96\00:14:47.45 to rule over my territories and provinces. 00:14:47.46\00:14:50.79 I have chosen you three to be governors 00:14:50.80\00:14:54.92 over my 120 rulers. 00:14:54.93\00:14:57.00 Thank you your majesty. 00:14:57.01\00:14:58.06 You will not be disappointed your majesty. 00:14:58.07\00:14:59.72 I intend not to be. 00:14:59.73\00:15:01.64 For you will report back to me every month, 00:15:01.65\00:15:03.75 everything you see and hear.
