00:01 It's almost time for Kids Time. We're gonna be late.
00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus
00:12 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so
00:24 Kids Time, Kids Time Kids Time, Kids Time
00:32 Hi, boys and girls.
00:33 Have you ever done something nice
00:35 for someone and they just didn't appreciate it.
00:38 Even worse instead of saying thank you,
00:40 maybe they did something really mean.
00:43 I know that's happened to me before
00:44 and it really hurt my feelings.
00:46 I had to even ask Jesus to give me
00:48 forgiveness in my heart for them.
00:50 I know brothers and sisters, sometimes treat each other
00:53 this way and sometimes parents have to step in
00:56 and make peace and that's not always easy to do.
00:59 That's what our Bible story is about today.
01:01 It's about a man of God, who did something really nice
01:04 for someone else and that man didn't appreciate it at all.
01:08 In fact he said, who do you think you are,
01:10 get out of here, I've got better things to do.
01:13 Now you think someone that mean would deserve
01:15 whatever they get, wouldn't you?
01:17 But boys and girls, that's not how God sees it.
01:20 He says, "Blessed are the peacemakers."
01:23 God doesn't want us to get revenge,
01:25 when people treat us badly.
01:27 He wants us to be kind to them
01:28 and show them how good and loving He is.
01:32 Today, we'll learn about a woman who was a peacemaker.
01:35 And because she was a peacemaker,
01:37 she actually saves someone else's life.
01:40 But I'm not gonna tell you about that just yet.
01:43 Boys and girls, if Jesus lives in your heart,
01:46 you will be a peacemaker too.
01:48 Well, right now it's time for--
01:50 well, let's see if Max is ready.
01:51 Max, Max! Max! He is still sleeping.
01:55 It's time for our Nature Time.
02:28 Hey, boys and girls, welcome to Nature Time.
02:30 I'm having a great time outdoors today.
02:33 You can see I'm on this great big rock climbing wall,
02:37 in Grayling, Michigan here at Camp Selah.
02:39 This is so cool. And I've got a good friend of mine,
02:42 Michael, he's Miss Brenda's grandson.
02:44 Hey, Mike, how are you doing down there.
02:46 Actually I need a little help.
02:47 Well, you know what, that's I can help you there,
02:50 Michael, you know, this is so neat, you know,
02:52 when I was a, when I was younger,
02:54 a little older than you I was in the Airborne Rangers.
02:57 You did. I was and you know what,
02:59 we learned to climb these rock climbing walls
03:00 and repel and there is a lot of lessons about it.
03:03 You know this rope right here is indeed,
03:05 you know, I can slip ah, look at that.
03:07 I slipped but somebody has got hold of me
03:10 and you know what, my friend down the ground
03:12 his name is Jordan, he is got hold of me
03:14 and I can't fall and either can you.
03:16 But you know what, the other thing it is about faith
03:19 in Luke in the New Testament, it talks about,
03:21 "He that is faithful in that which is least
03:24 but we faithful in that which is much."
03:25 And you know what we got to look at these,
03:27 these little rocks where you hang on to them. Yeah.
03:30 And so we just do one at a time,
03:32 we'll be faithful in that which is least and you know,
03:34 step by step you can get to the top of this thing.
03:37 So, Ranger Dwight, is going to help you, okay. Okay.
03:39 Okay, now I want you to put that foot right there
03:41 and I want you to straight right up, okay.
03:46 Look at that, that is absolutely tremendous, okay.
03:49 Now, now let's see, put the other foot up there, can you?
03:53 That's a hard one, isn't it?
03:54 Okay, and give me your hand,
03:56 can you reach me and give me your hand.
03:58 Look at that, now come right up.
04:00 Awesome, you got it, don't you? Yeah.
04:03 Okay, you know what? It takes a lot of work,
04:06 but there is always someone and that someone is Jesus
04:09 to always help us all the time.
04:11 Think we can make it up to the top, I do.
04:14 It might take a little work though ah.
04:16 You want to try one more.
04:17 Give me that hand of yours, okay.
04:19 And put your foot right up there, ready.
04:22 Go right up, oh, look at that,
04:24 put your hand right there, okay.
04:27 Okay, that is so neat,
04:29 you're almost as tall as I am now,
04:31 but you know what, we're gonna keep going on this
04:34 but this is so fun.
04:36 Kids, nature is God's second book,
04:38 so get out there and take a look.
04:40 Hey, you're ready, Michael, to get to the top. Yeah.
04:43 Let's go, and I hope as we go, okay. Here we go.
04:48 Doing great. Okay.
05:25 Mommy told me something, a little girl should know
05:29 It's all about the devil and I've learned to hate him so
05:33 She says he causes trouble when you let him in the room
05:38 And he will never leave you
05:40 if your heart is filled with gloom
05:42 So let the sunshine in, face it with a grin
05:48 Smilers never lose and frowners never win
05:51 So let the sunshine in, face it with a grin
05:56 Open up your heart and let the sunshine in
06:05 If I forget to say my pray'rs the devil jumps with glee
06:09 But he feels so awful, awful when he sees me on my knees
06:13 So if you're full of trouble and you never seem to win
06:18 Just open up your heart and let the sunshine in
06:22 So let the sunshine in, face it with a grin
06:27 Smilers never lose, and frowners never win
06:31 So let the sunshine in, face it with a grin
06:36 Open up your heart and let the sunshine in
06:40 Open up your heart and let the sunshine in
06:58 Welcome to Learning Time. Glad you join us today.
07:01 You know, today, I'm gonna show you a science experiment
07:04 that you can do at home.
07:05 You like to do stuff at home? Yeah.
07:08 Okay, we're gonna use some very simple things
07:10 and we're gonna need about three helpers.
07:12 And let's see we have Miles, over here.
07:14 Miles is gonna be our first helper.
07:15 Now Miles, do you have a very special Bible character.
07:19 Yes, I do. Oh, and who is that?
07:21 Joshua. Joshua, now why Joshua?
07:23 Because he was strong and he was a warrior for God.
07:26 Oh and I like him too. Now we have, Kyle.
07:29 Now Kyle, do you have any brothers or sisters?
07:31 Yes, I have two sisters and one brother.
07:34 And are you the oldest? Yeah.
07:36 Wow! I'm glad that you are here.
07:37 Then we have, Luke.
07:39 Now Luke, do you have a favorite car, don't you?
07:42 Yeah. And what kind of a car is that?
07:44 Mustang. A Mustang.
07:46 Well, that's also a horse, isn't it?
07:48 Yeah, and a Mustang, has a lot of horsepower, doesn't it?
07:50 Hey, let's get our three helpers up here
07:53 and let's find out what we have.
07:54 Now we've got some objects on this table.
07:56 And what are these look like here.
07:59 What have we got here, guys?
08:01 Scissors and paper. Scissors and paper, right.
08:04 And then we got some of these funny looking things
08:06 like this, what's that? Spools. Spools.
08:08 They're spools of thread, right.
08:10 You all sew? You sew?
08:12 No, you should learn how to sew.
08:14 Does anybody know how to sew here? Yes.
08:16 Oh, sewing is a great thing, but we're not gonna sew.
08:18 In fact I'm gonna show you a simple science experiment,
08:21 I think it's fun and it's kind of amazing.
08:23 So pick up those pair of scissors and you've got
08:26 a little card in front of you, go ahead and cut that out.
08:28 Because we've got, we marked the card into a little square.
08:31 Now remember you can do this at home
08:33 and it's really a lot of fun.
08:34 So you're gonna take that pair of scissors
08:36 and they're gonna cut a little square out.
08:38 And then they're gonna need a couple of other things.
08:41 I'm gonna give them one of these little pins right here.
08:44 Now these are kind of like hat pins or a pin that
08:46 you might put or a pin of flower onto you.
08:48 So here why don't you take that one
08:50 and here is one for you, okay.
08:53 And then we've got another one right here for you.
08:55 Now without poking your finger, does that really hurts.
08:59 Poke the pin right through your cards.
09:02 See how I put my pin.
09:04 Put it right through the card, right in the center
09:06 just like that, just poke it right through, okay.
09:09 And then take that pin and put it right in the hole
09:13 of your thread, right here in the spool,
09:17 the spindle of the spool, you got it, cool.
09:19 Now, what we can do, you think that you think that
09:22 they could blow this little card off of this.
09:25 You see there is a hole all the way through,
09:27 can you just show us you've the hole all the way through.
09:29 Okay, can you blow through it, just blow through it?
09:33 Okay, now put your card on it,
09:35 if you didn't have your card on already.
09:37 And then hold the card with your finger
09:38 and then start to blow and then remove your finger
09:42 and see how far you can make that card shoot out.
09:46 Okay, blow hard and keep blowing.
09:47 Move your finger as you blow.
09:52 Did the card blow away? Blow harder.
09:55 You think they need to blow harder?
09:57 Yeah.
09:58 Yeah, blow harder, hers fell off.
10:00 When you stop blowing, it might fall off.
10:03 I think you have to remove your
10:04 finger then when you blow hard.
10:05 There you go blow real hard, let's go try it again.
10:11 Do you know what?
10:12 The harder they blow, the stronger the card
10:15 wants to stick to the spool of thread.
10:18 Isn't that amazing? Yeah.
10:21 You'll think that they ought to be able to take that card
10:23 and blow it right off, but they can't.
10:25 Hey, let's try with something that's even more amazing.
10:27 Go and put that in there again and hold that
10:29 upside down like this and blow real hard.
10:36 What happen when they stop blowing?
10:39 The card fell down, that's an amazing thing.
10:42 You know, what's happening?
10:43 This is a natural law and it's called the Bernoulli Effect.
10:47 And Bernoulli said, fast moving air
10:50 because when you blow through this little thing
10:51 there is fast moving air and it creates
10:54 low air pressure around the back of the card.
10:57 The high air pressure pushes that card right into the--
11:01 our thread holder, and it just won't let go.
11:04 Isn't that interesting? Yes. I think so.
11:07 But you know that reminds me of something,
11:09 that wind or that air as you and I
11:12 as we blew through it, you know what in the Bible,
11:14 air and breath, it remind us of the Holy Spirit.
11:18 Isn't that interesting? Yeah.
11:20 You know, if you and I have the Holy Spirit
11:22 in our lives, you know what he does.
11:24 The Holy Spirit actually keeps us together.
11:27 He makes us so that we're whole
11:29 and we won't fall apart, isn't that cool?
11:31 Yeah. You want to fall apart.
11:34 No, and God spirit will lead our church too
11:38 and we all stay together, because of the Holy Spirit
11:41 in our lives and in our organization.
11:43 And that's really what I want.
11:45 Well, you know, when we learn more about science,
11:48 we learn more about our creator, God.
12:08 Wow, this feast is going to be huge.
12:10 You're telling me, there is a lot of work
12:12 put into it though, but it's worth it.
12:15 Lady Abigail is so sweet unlike her husband.
12:19 You know, her husband does nothing,
12:20 but lays around and order people around.
12:22 He doesn't lift a finger to do anything for anybody.
12:25 Oh, yes Lady Abigail, now.
12:27 The bread smells wonderful
12:29 so delicious and look how good it is.
12:32 How much have you made?
12:33 We have this here and some in the oven, still baking.
12:37 Okay, we want to make sure everything is it readiness.
12:39 I don't want anything left to chance,
12:41 I want to make sure that the donkey is fed.
12:43 I want to make sure the chickens are fed,
12:44 everything is clean, everything is ready.
12:46 Look Master Nabal, we have guest.
12:50 Sir, greetings to you. Yes.
12:53 David, son of Jesse, says peace to you
12:55 and peace to all your house.
12:57 Everybody wants peace, when they want something.
12:59 What do you want?
13:02 Well, sir we are your humble servants and we have been
13:05 in the fields along side your shepherd's
13:07 protecting them from bandits and from wild animals.
13:10 As long as we've been there, they've lost nothing.
13:13 Master Nabal, it is as he has spoken.
13:16 And so what?
13:18 Our humble request is that you'll allow us
13:20 to take provisions back to our camp.
13:22 Provision, you want me-- who is David anyway?
13:25 You want me to take my food, my water,
13:28 and you want to take meat that I have prepared for my share
13:31 and give it to someone whom I've never even met.
13:33 But sir, it's a small request.
13:34 Just leave me, I have a feast to plan.
13:40 I'm so sorry.
13:44 Who is this ignorant brat? Who does he think he is?
13:50 When David hears about this, he's gonna come back here.
13:57 Lady Abigail. Yes.
13:58 Something terrible has just happened.
14:00 Tell me, tell me everything.
14:01 We are in serious trouble. What is it?
14:03 Well, you know, David and his men are in the fields above
14:05 and they've been watching over the shepherds all year long,
14:07 so that we've lost not even a single sheep.
14:11 Well, they come here asking for supplies which is the custom.
14:15 Nabal, turned them away and rebuke.
14:16 Oh, no, this is trouble.
14:17 What a scoundrel, we'r in trouble
14:20 we must do and act quickly.
14:21 Oh, okay, get this bread, ladies.
14:23 We got to pack this up quick, these baskets.
14:25 Get these packed up, you get the mule
14:27 and also five ready sheep.
14:29 Come on we got to get these stuff packed quick, let's go.
14:32 We got to get these on the carts and bags, here are some bags.
14:39 All right men, it's time to wipe that
14:40 Nabal of the face of this earth.
14:42 By morning there is not gonna be
14:43 a meal in his house, so let alive.
14:46 David, look do you see that's Abigail, that's Nabal's wife.
14:51 I kneel oh Lord, let's your anger be and please I beg it,
14:56 you let me speak a word to you.
14:58 Speak.
14:59 Let me speak to you about the scoundrel Nabal.
15:02 For as his name is, so is he foolish.
15:07 But I, your maidservant,
15:09 I did not see the men that you've sent.
15:12 Please I beg of you as the Lord lives and as your soul lives.
15:16 Then he has held you back from bloodshed
15:18 and from getting revenge today,
15:20 so what your enemies be and those who harm you.
15:23 But please I beg of you,
15:24 accept these gifts that I have brought.
15:27 You and your men and forgive me your maidservant.
15:31 For the Lord, will make of your house
15:33 and enduring house for there is no evil
15:36 found in you in all your days.
15:38 And when and when the Lord has made you ruler over Israel,
15:42 please I beg of you, remember your maidservant.
15:49 Praise the Lord, God of Israel.
15:52 Wiser you woman and wise is your council.
15:55 For if you had not come here to stop me this day,
15:58 I would have sinned in my anger.
16:00 And I swear that not one male
16:02 would haven been left alive in this household.
16:09 Alas.
16:17 Let's go. Yeah.
16:33 [Music]
18:58 Hi, boys and girls, it's time for
19:00 Miss Brenda's Book of the Day!
19:02 And today's book is called "A Friend for Zipper."
19:06 And it's by a very good author, Heather Grovet.
19:09 And this book is all about a horse
19:12 and a special friend for our horse name Zipper.
19:15 Oh, you're gonna want to read this book and somebody else
19:18 that wants to read this book is with me today.
19:21 And she just told me, she loves horses.
19:23 I want you to meet, Rachel.
19:24 Hi, Rachel. Hi.
19:25 You thought this looks like a pretty good book.
19:27 Didn't you? Yes.
19:28 So I think you should be able to, get that book
19:31 and read all about a friend called Zipper.
19:33 But let me tell you I am so happy
19:35 that you are able to join me today.
19:37 I know that you came a very long way,
19:39 because you live far away up in Canada.
19:42 And you came a long way to be with, Miss Brenda, today.
19:44 So tell me what you do to share Jesus.
19:47 Let's share with the boys and girls.
19:48 What do you do to share Jesus?
19:50 My mom is Romanian, so me I went with my family
19:55 to visit my grandparents and while we were there,
19:59 it happened that I had my birthday there.
20:01 So we decided to spend my birthday in orphanage,
20:04 and we carried a cake and some gifts for the children
20:08 like sweets and we had a lot of fun there.
20:11 I think that is so awesome,
20:13 so your grandparents live in Romania,
20:15 and so instead you had your birthday over there.
20:18 And boys and girls, instead of, you know,
20:20 having a great big birthday party all about me, me, me.
20:23 No, that's not what Rachel did.
20:25 She said, let me have my birthday in an orphanage
20:27 and instead of presents you had every one
20:31 get presents to all the children.
20:33 Wasn't that an awesome thing to do?
20:35 In fact, we have a video clip,
20:36 I want to take a look at right now.
20:39 You can see right here, here is the birthday cake being cut
20:43 and you can see even there is a little girl here
20:45 that's sitting under the table, she was eating that cake,
20:47 she loves it, doesn't she?
20:48 And you can see them enjoying the cake.
20:50 Then afterwards I like how you all sang around the piano
20:53 and you sing songs about Jesus.
20:56 And right, do you remember any of the songs that you sing.
20:59 Yeah, I can't remember the name of it, but I do remember.
21:03 Ah, ah and there are some songs and then afterwards
21:06 it looks like you even went outside and played with
21:08 some of the kids on the special swing and you enjoyed.
21:11 Some--there are some cute little puppies there too
21:13 and also it looks like you had some donkey rides.
21:17 That look like a really fun birthday.
21:19 Was that an awesome birthday? Yes.
21:22 Now, I know there is something else that you did
21:23 to share jesus, because you knew you were going
21:25 over to Romania, and so you started saving your money.
21:28 How much did you save? Three hundred dollars.
21:30 Three hundred dollars, and when you went to, Romania,
21:34 what did you want to do with that 300.
21:36 I wanted to save it for the poor children in, Romania.
21:40 Well, I love what you told.
21:41 She told, Miss Brenda, that she picked out
21:43 six different children, girls right,
21:46 six different little girls from six different families.
21:49 And what did you do with that money, you took them shopping.
21:52 I took them shopping to choose
21:55 church dresses and church shoes for them.
21:58 And then we went to the park and we had ice-cream
22:01 and my mom and my uncle
22:03 took pictures of us with holding our dresses.
22:07 Oh, and what are those girls think as they were really poor.
22:11 They didn't have nice pretty dresses, did they?
22:14 And so what did they think when they saw these new dresses.
22:17 They loved them. They loved them.
22:19 Were they very excited? Yes.
22:21 Now some boys and girls have never been to, Romania,
22:24 what's the biggest difference, you live in, Canada,
22:26 what's the biggest difference between
22:28 where you live in, Canada and Romania.
22:31 There are a lot of kids running out of the streets
22:34 and streets are all dusty and old and there are lot of
22:38 horse wagons instead of cars through the villages.
22:42 And there is pufillets, a different kind of food
22:45 that we don't have here.
22:47 Made out of corn. It's made of corn and salt.
22:52 Corn and salt, but did you like it?
22:54 Yeah. So you missed that.
22:57 But would you encourage other boys and girls,
22:59 to focus on somebody else rather than yourself on your birthday.
23:03 Yes. Yes. Did it make you really happy?
23:07 Was that your best birthday ever?
23:09 Yes. It was.
23:11 Well, I'm so glad that you came and share that with us.
23:13 Rachel, and I would like to read some letters
23:16 from boys and girls from you.
23:17 And let see, Rachel, maybe you'll help me today,
23:19 we got some pictures to hold up let see.
23:22 And, oh, we've got couple of pictures.
23:24 somebody drew me some pictures.
23:26 You want to hold this one up for me,
23:28 there is a picture of artist and what an artist.
23:31 He says, hi, my name is Allison, I'm 9 years old,
23:34 and my friend is in the hospital I told him
23:37 how to accept Jesus as his Savior.
23:39 I have two sisters,
23:40 can I have three activity books and also Bible studies.
23:44 Thank you, Allison, Lexy and Emma.
23:47 Well, yes, you can and thank you what a,
23:49 I'd thank you for sharing your artwork with me
23:51 and we'll get those Bible lessons out to you right away.
23:55 Now we have another one here and this is from Colorado.
23:58 Let see who we are talking to
