00:01 It's almost time for Kids Time,
00:03 we're gonna be late.
00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus.
00:12 It's time to share there's a world out there;
00:16 let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:20 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:24 Kids Time, kids Time, kids Time.
00:31 Hi, boys and girls, I heard a story once about a little
00:34 boy, who moved with his parents to another country
00:36 where his daddy had found a job.
00:38 Now the little boy was excited about going to a
00:40 new school and making new friends, but on his
00:43 first day school the other children make fun of
00:46 them and some of the boys even knocked him
00:47 over and they stole his lunch. It seemed like no
00:50 one wanted to be his friend, he was so lonely
00:53 and sad. Several of the other children were
00:56 friendly to him for a while. But they turned
00:58 against him too when their friends started
01:00 making fun of them, only one girl was brave
01:03 enough to ignore the sneers of the other
01:05 children and be that little boy's friend. She stood up
01:08 for him, when the other kids tease him and she sat
01:11 by him at lunch time and helped him understand
01:13 the school work. She was a true friend, today we
01:16 call that person a good Samaritan, but do you
01:19 know why it's because of a story Jesus told and
01:22 we're going to hear that story today I hope it will
01:26 make you want to be a good Samaritan too.
01:29 Well, right now let's get ready for Nature Time.
01:37 Hi, boys and girls welcome to Nature Time.
01:40 Boys and girls we're here in beautiful Western
01:42 Montana up in Glacier National Park.
01:44 And I'm very close right now to one of the most
01:47 beautiful creatures and talented creatures that
01:49 God ever created, the beautiful mountain goat,
01:53 now as you look down at her, this is a mother goat
01:56 and she has her little baby with her, little kid they
01:59 called him just like some of you and they are very
02:03 specially designed for this really high country where
02:05 we're at, we're over 6000 feet elevation right now.
02:09 In fact this goat is eating some grass here, they eat
02:12 grass. The daddy goat's just a little bit bigger than
02:15 this. You can see how her fur looks like, it's kind of
02:18 fallen off a little bit or it's shedding out.
02:21 She spends her entire winter way up here, high
02:24 up in these, up in these rocky slopes where the
02:28 wind and the ice and snow is and so in order to
02:33 stay warm she needs a really thick coat of fur.
02:36 But, now it's July, it's almost 80 degrees out
02:38 here and it's too warm for that thick, thick coat of
02:41 fur and so she's shading that off and she should
02:44 just get that all shed off nicely and she look all
02:47 slick and pretty and then winter is gonna set in
02:50 again and she will have to grow it back. Now, boys
02:52 and girls one of the thing that's most awesome
02:53 about this goat, she is not actually a goat, she is a
02:56 goat antelope. Goats have a little beard that hangs
03:01 from their chin, mountain goats have beard they
03:03 hangs from their throat and also she is called a
03:06 goat antelope because their horns are not
03:08 actually a goat's horn. A goat's horn has many
03:10 ridges, you've seen goats, domestic goats they have
03:14 the ridges on their horns. Her horns are very, very
03:16 smooth and they don't sleep back or curl like a
03:19 true goat, this is actually a goat antelope.
03:22 Now, one of the most amazing features about
03:24 the goat, a mountain goat is her feet, her feet on the
03:27 outside are very, very hard that's for gripping
03:30 rock and for getting good traction on that rock,
03:34 she needs a real soft sole and so while it's very hard
03:38 on the outside of the foot it's very soft and rubbery
03:42 on the inside of the foot. One of the most beautiful
03:44 things about Glacier National Park is that
03:46 young people can come up, you see that I'm on a
03:48 walkway. In fact right here we have some
03:50 children that are up here with their family, their
03:52 mommy and daddy, they're enjoy a vocation
03:55 in Glacier National Park, you can come right down
03:57 here, come on down here to Ranger Rod, would
03:58 you like to come down and visit with me for a
04:00 minute. I have very close to this beautiful goat,
04:02 how are you darling, what's your name? Petra.
04:05 Petra, beautiful name look at this beautiful goat,
04:08 she won't hurt you as long as Ranger Rod's here
04:10 come on, come over here by me, look at their
04:12 beautiful golden hair, your almost the same
04:14 color as that beautiful goat isn't that beautiful.
04:17 Amazing do you know that Jesus made these
04:19 goats for us to enjoy, where is the mommy?
04:21 This is the mommy, this is the mommy, both
04:23 mommies and daddies have horns, look at the
04:26 little baby have you seen that little tiny baby?
04:28 Do you know that after just one day that little
04:31 baby can climb these rocks just as well as the
04:34 mommy can, and they keep them very close to
04:37 them, aren't they beautiful? Aren't you
04:39 glad that Jesus made something like that for us
04:41 to enjoy way up here in Glacier National Park?
04:44 I'm sure glad, well boys and girls until next time
04:48 this is Ranger Rod, let's all keep on enjoying
04:51 God's great outdoors.
07:28 Welcome to Learning Time, I'm glad that you've
07:30 joined us today and we've got a couple of very
07:32 special helpers today. I have got Ashley over
07:34 here and Ashley where are you from? Bermuda,
07:37 Bermuda that's a long way away, isn't it?
07:39 And you went by boat? No, by an Airplane, by
07:44 Airplane yeah we can travel fast in Airplane
07:46 today we're gonna talk about traveling and oh!
07:48 I've got Branden over here, and Branden where
07:50 are you from? Johnston City, Illinois, Johnston
07:52 City, Illinois, you're pretty close aren't you?
07:54 Yeah. Well, today we're gonna do an experiment
07:56 that looks like a classical experiment and I have a
07:58 little piece of paper over here and let's take this
08:00 paper and I'm gonna give this to Ashley, I'm gonna
08:02 have Ashley just drop it, what do you suppose a
08:05 piece of paper would do if you just drop it, will it
08:07 fly up in the air or will it? No, well shall we find
08:10 out, let's give Ashley a count down 3, 2, 1, 3, 2, 1
08:15 and drop the piece of paper and it just kind of
08:18 floats and drips to the ground doesn't it? Yeah,
08:20 now why does it do that? Well, because there's air
08:23 right and that piece of paper rides on a cushion
08:26 of air and goes down, but I've got something that's
08:28 not a piece of paper however its got lots of
08:31 piece papers in it and its a book, its a text book.
08:34 So, Branden I'm gonna hand this to you.
08:36 Now Branden's gonna drop this, will it go down
08:39 to the floor like the paper did. No, well let's find out
08:42 a little count down 3, 2, 1 and drop, goes right
08:47 straight to the ground you know there was a
08:49 classical experiment that was done on the moon
08:51 and it was an Apollo moon shot and we had a
08:55 commander up there on that Apollo and Apollo,
08:57 his name was David Scott and David Scott did an
09:00 experiment, in one hand he had a geological
09:03 hammer and that's kind of heavy right hammers are,
09:06 and in the other hand he had a feather, a feather
09:09 isn't that interesting? And he drops them at the
09:11 same time, what do you suppose happened?
09:14 They just floated down, they floated down at the
09:18 same rate didn't they? At the same time a feather
09:20 and a hammer, okay let's try to do this, I'm gonna
09:23 have my book in my hand, we're gonna put the
09:25 piece of paper on top and the book is going to get
09:27 rid of the air okay because it's really heavy
09:31 and let's find out if they're going to hit the ground
09:33 at the same time or if they're gonna float around
09:35 what do you think is gonna happen to the
09:36 paper Ashley? Float. Paper will float like it did
09:40 before and what's gonna happened to the paper
09:42 do you think? I think that it's gonna just go down
09:44 with the book. Shall we try it, yes, okay
09:46 everybody count down, lets drop it, 3, 2, 1 and
09:51 did it drop at the same time? Yes, it drop at the
09:54 same time because we got rid of a lot of the air,
09:57 the atmosphere, that's what happened on the
09:59 moon, the hammer dropped at the same rate
10:01 and the same speed as the feather isn't that
10:04 interesting and you know we work with that all
10:07 day along because we fight the air, the air
10:10 pushes us back. How many of you ever
10:11 ridden in a car? Or some kind of vehicle that's
10:14 right, it nearly takes about three fourths of all of the
10:16 energy for our vehicles to go through the
10:19 atmosphere, to go through the air. So, you know
10:22 what if we've gotten rid of all the air then we
10:24 could go through the atmosphere a lot of
10:26 quicker wouldn't that be great? Yes, that be
10:28 a problem though wouldn't it. We couldn't breathe
10:30 and that would be a bad news thing, we have to
10:32 carry oxygen when we went on a ride.
10:34 It wouldn't be a good idea would it, not really, no.
10:37 When God created an atmosphere on planet
10:39 earth could the astronauts from Apollo, could they
10:41 live on the moon without air? No, no, they can't
10:44 breathe because there is no atmosphere.
10:46 God prepared planet earth for a very special place,
10:50 we have air, we have oxygen and we can live,
10:52 we can breathe isn't that cool? Yeah, well I think
10:55 so too, so two objects falling through air do
10:59 different things don't they? Yes, the paper
11:01 floated because it just was kind of like a kite wasn't it?
11:05 It just push it all around and this one fell
11:07 right straight to the ground. But if we put
11:09 them together we got rid of the atmosphere isn't
11:12 that great? Yes, now boys and girls every
11:14 time we learn more about science, we're
11:16 learning more about our creator God.
11:25 I think I would like, get away, she's a Samaritan.
11:36 Why are you helping me? Why are you helping me?
11:39 Why are you helping me? No, why are you touching
11:42 me? I'm a Samaritan, the people don't like me.
11:46 If it wasn't for a Samaritan my child
11:49 would not even have a father. What? I would not
11:52 have a husband, I would be wearing black,
11:54 I would be a widow. What are you talking
11:56 about? Would you like to hear my story?
12:00 I would like to hear your story. My husband got up
12:04 for early one morning and you know it's quite a
12:06 treacherous road over to Jericho. Yes, I know that,
12:09 and there's spots there, were places in the trial
12:14 where robbers hide and it's very, very dangerous.
12:18 Well, my husband was coming up to one of this
12:20 part, it was kind of took him by surprise because
12:23 usually he has to be careful you know when
12:25 a spot further up the road but as he was going
12:28 along, all of a sudden from behind he was
12:31 attacked and he was thrown to the ground.
12:33 His clothes were ripped off of him and it is kind
12:37 of hard for my daughter to hear this but it's okay
12:39 honey, daddy's safe, okay. I'm so sorry and
12:44 they started cutting him and beating him and he
12:47 was and they took his clothes, they took all his
12:50 money, all the money that we had that he was
12:52 taking to Jericho. To buy supplies for us, they took
12:56 it all and so, I'm sorry, he lay beside the road and
13:01 all at once he heard somebody walking by
13:04 and he could just see out of the corner of his eye,
13:06 it was a Priest and the Priest didn't even look,
13:10 the Priest just gave him a glance and kept on going.
13:15 And the Priest kept on going, the Priest kept on
13:18 going and then after he laid at there for a while
13:20 longer, a Levi came along, now surely I would
13:24 have thought that a Levi would help him, because
13:26 you know we give offerings all the time,
13:30 we take it to the temple and we are good Jewish people.
13:34 We try to follow every tradition possible.
13:38 I'm sure a Levi would help, he came over and
13:40 looked at him and then he heard him mutter.
13:45 I wish I had even looked at him and he turned and
13:47 left and my husband was just laying there and he
13:51 was bleeding and he was bruised and he didn't
13:53 know what to do and he started to get, were it was
13:56 evening, and then he heard a donkey coming
13:58 and he thought oh! No, they are coming to finish
14:02 me off and he was so sad and he was crying and
14:06 weeping and all of a sudden. He felt a hand
14:10 touch him and say its okay I'm here to help you,
14:17 don't worry I will take care of you.
14:20 He got some ointment, she loves this part.
14:25 He got some ointment, he put it on his wounds,
14:30 he bandaged him up and then he took the coat off
14:33 his own back and put it on him. And if that wasn't
14:36 enough, he took him very carefully, because my
14:40 husband was in a lot of pain and put him on his
14:43 donkey and then walked beside him and when they
14:47 got to Jericho, he got to the Inn.
14:49 What's the matter, I'm sorry, what's the matter
14:51 ma'am. I know the rest of the story, but it's my
14:55 husband that this happened to, how could
14:57 you know the rest of the story? Because my
15:00 husband who was the good Samaritan.
15:06 It was her husband is the one that saved your father.
15:11 He's a good man, he took your husband and he was
15:17 so bleeding and cut and bruised and his
15:21 leg was so bad. I know his leg was hurt bad
15:25 and my husband bandaged it.
15:26 And he stayed with him one night and he wanted
15:31 to stay with him longer, he really did.
15:34 But he had to go, he had a meeting, he had to leave.
15:40 But he couldn't just leave him there was no one to
15:43 help him and so he gave money to the innkeeper
15:47 and he asked the innkeeper, he said please take care of
15:51 this man for me and I will pay you whatever cost,
15:55 it doesn't matter what it cost I will pay you.
15:58 And he said and let him stay here until he gets well.
16:02 And he said when I comeback from my
16:04 business trip if he needs help, if he still, if it costs
16:10 more I will pay you more. He wanted to help him,
16:16 oh! Thank you and he is a good man you know.
16:20 I believe it, our own Priest wouldn't help,
16:23 the Levi wouldn't help, but your husband the
16:26 Samaritan helped. We're gonna celebrate tonight,
16:30 you are? Yes, I want you and your husband and
16:34 your children to come to our home tonight,
16:37 wouldn't you like that sweetheart, oh! But, yes
16:39 but what will all the people say. It doesn't
16:43 matter to me what they think, it doesn't?
16:45 No, you're my friend in fact when you're gonna
16:48 sell this vegetables at market.
16:50 Well, I was gonna try but there all bruised now,
16:52 I don't think anyone would take them.
16:55 Well, I know the shopkeeper, Tarish,
16:57 Tarish, no, no she is a Samaritan, no,
17:03 you see I told you it doesn't matter Hannah,
17:05 it doesn't matter does it. It doesn't matter to us
17:08 come on, I know another shopkeeper it doesn't matter.
17:23 Oh! Which side are you leaning on?
17:26 Leaning on the Lord's side.
17:28 Yes! Which side are you leaning on?
17:31 Leaning on the Lord's side.
17:34 I lean, I lean, I lean, I lean, I lean
17:37 Leaning on the Lord's side.
17:39 I lean, I lean, I lean, I lean, I lean
17:42 Leaning on the Lord's side.
17:44 Oh! Which side are you praying on?
17:48 Praying on the Lord's side.
17:50 Yes! Which side are you praying on?
17:53 Praying on the Lord's side
17:55 I pray, I pray, I pray, I pray
17:59 Praying on the Lord's side
18:01 I pray, I pray, I pray, I pray whole day.
18:04 Praying on the Lord's side.
18:06 Oh! Which side are you singing on?
18:09 Singing on the Lord side.
18:12 Yes! Which side are you singing on?
18:15 Singing on the Lord side.
18:17 I sing, I sing, I sing, I sing.
18:20 Singing on the Lord side.
18:22 I sing, I sing, I sing, I sing.
18:25 Singing on the Lord side.
18:28 Oh! Which side are you walking on?
18:31 Walking on the Lord side.
18:33 Yes! Which side are you walking on?
18:36 Walking on the Lord side.
18:38 I walk, I walk, I walk, I walk.
18:41 Walking on the Lord side.
18:43 I walk, I walk, I walk, I walk.
18:46 Walking on the Lord side.
