00:01 It's almost time for Kids Time,
00:03 we're gonna be late. 00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there, 00:08 Looking for a friend like Jesus. 00:11 It's time to share there's a world out there; 00:16 let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:19 Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:24 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:31 Hi, boys and girls. Have you ever done something 00:33 mean to a friend and then thought really bad about it. 00:36 And then when you ask for forgiveness your 00:38 friend said, sure I forgive you and you just went 00:41 on being best friends, but what if right after that 00:44 happened is second friend came up to you and said, 00:47 I'm sorry for being mean to you today, please 00:49 forgive me. And you look and said, no I won't 00:52 forgive you. I don't ever want to be friends 00:54 with you again. Well, I hope not boys and girls. 00:57 I hope you would remember that you had 00:59 just been forgiven. And I hope you would 01:01 remember how good it felt to be friends again. 01:04 And then forgive your second friend just as you 01:06 had been forgiven. Because boys and girls 01:09 that's what God is called each of us to do. 01:11 Forgive as we have been forgiven. 01:14 And I know I have been forgiven a lot. 01:15 I'm sure you have too, that's what our Bible 01:18 story is about today. We will hear it soon, 01:20 but right now hey Maxwell and I are getting 01:23 ready for, Maxwell? Maxwell? Sleeping again. 01:28 Get ready for nature time. Come on Maxwell you 01:31 can do it, come on boy, 01:33 come on, hey it's Nature Time. 01:42 Hi, boys and girls welcome to Nature Time. 01:45 Ranger Jim, we are here in beautiful Western 01:46 Montana today and you know it is such a 01:48 privilege and a pleasure to be 01:50 on the program together. Today, I would like to 01:53 talk a little bit about white tailed deer. 01:55 You know, white tailed deer found in most all of 01:57 North America. So, many boys and girls are 01:59 familiar with them. They see them in their yard 02:01 sometimes or they see them in the fields that 02:02 they pass, farmer's fields. And so, if we could talk 02:06 just a little bit about it even out here in beautiful 02:08 Montana, where we also have the mule deer, 02:10 we also have the white tailed deer. 02:12 Now, I notice Ranger Jim you are holding 02:13 something in your hand is this something about, 02:15 is this, what is this have to do with 02:17 the white tailed deer? Well, boys and girls this 02:19 has to do, this is what the daddy deer wears. 02:22 And from the time he is born on his forehead upon 02:25 the top of his skull, if you look with binoculars you 02:28 can see even when he is very small, there will be a 02:30 little knob about that big sticky up. Okay. 02:32 It's called the button. And from that these horns 02:35 or these antlers grows. You see, I almost had 02:38 horns. Yeah. They are not horns; they are not 02:39 permanent because they are shed. 02:41 And each year this goes larger and larger and 02:44 then this is a very mature button, we call this a 02:47 matched set. You said, you found these, right, 02:50 and these came from the same buck. 02:51 Because they are just matched perfectly and 02:53 setting up on his head boys and girls, they are 02:56 majestic with setting up like this. Beautiful. 02:58 And Ranger Rod I have seen them run through 03:00 the bush at 30 miles an hour with this, they put 03:03 their head in the air, their nose is up, and the 03:06 antler lays back like this. And they can run right 03:08 through the bush and it doesn't even catch. 03:10 You know, Ranger Jim in Eastern part of the 03:13 country maybe, maybe in fact you live in the 03:15 Eastern part of United States. 03:17 They count these points differently then they do 03:21 here in the West. Okay. Now, that might be 03:24 interesting for boys and girls because if you have 03:26 an opportunity let's say to visit the West, if you are 03:28 from the East or if you have the opportunity to 03:30 visit the East because you are from the West this is 03:33 a little tit-bit of knowledge that I'm gonna give you, 03:36 so that you can sound very knowledgeable of 03:39 the antler points. Oh! Yes. In the East, let's say 03:42 in Michigan or Pennsylvania or New York, this would 03:45 be considered a ten point buck. Right. 03:48 Because he has one, two, three, four, five, six, 03:51 seven, eight, nine, ten points, but if you are out 03:54 here in the West let's say in Montana or Wyoming 03:56 or Colorado this is considered a five point 03:59 buck. He would be what they would say he is 04:01 a five by five. Right. They would never him a 04:03 ten point buck. Unless of course he was you know, 04:06 a proud photographer who had a photograph of 04:08 it and he says look at all ten points on that buck. 04:10 Ten points would to be almost bigger than 04:12 anyone of it. That's right, you know, 04:13 Ranger Jim I'm, I'm holding an antler here and 04:16 maybe you can talk just little bit about this, 04:18 this for some reason looks different 04:19 than the antlers again. Alright, alright, that's 04:21 very simple you see the main beam goes along 04:23 like this and these tines come off the main beam 04:25 and come up that way, where as these branch 04:27 from the main beam and go up like that. 04:30 Okay and the rule of thumb for counting the 04:32 points and many hunters they want to get a big 04:35 count like a ten point or twelve point, it's the 04:38 point sticking out here as to be big enough to 04:40 support, hanging a cup of some kind of hang on 04:42 that would be there. And so, these are sheds as 04:45 we set them to fall and then in the spring he 04:49 grows a new one, but the fun thing is Ranger Rod 04:52 you and I know because we are out all the time, 04:54 when we see a little buck like this and when the doe 04:57 has twins, he will be the little boy, little male deer 05:02 and the female. Right. And you can tell from 05:04 the second week in life just where they act, 05:07 if it's a boy. Just like with boys and girls when they 05:10 are out playing. The girls would be a little more 05:11 dainty and, and, and they will try to stay closer to 05:15 mother. And the boy right off about what's he is 05:18 doing, he is chasing off out there and mother goes 05:21 and gets him, gives him a nudge and a buck, 05:23 comeback over here she said, but you can see 05:25 from the very time when you get out and start 05:27 running and ripping and tearing, he doesn't go 05:29 around the bush booming around right through it. 05:32 Isn't that something? And some of the times 05:33 they are very young, you can tell the 05:34 difference in them. Amazing, you know, 05:36 Ranger Jim I just wanted to touch base once 05:39 again about this particular antler. 05:40 This is an antler, I want to tell the boys and girls 05:42 incase they didn't know from a mule deer. 05:44 A very similar species. Right. Many of their 05:46 habits are quite the same. Many of the ways they, 05:48 they raise their young are the same, maybe we 05:50 could touch just for a moment the mothers in 05:53 the fangs. At this time, if you are here in Western 05:54 Montana many of the doers that's the mommy 05:57 deer are going around with their fangs. 05:59 And Ranger Jim you were sharing with me 06:01 yesterday a very interesting point about 06:04 how these mothers, from the mother white tailed 06:06 and the mother mule deer differ a little bit on their 06:09 defense of their fangs. Could you share with us 06:11 about that? Alright and that, that is, 06:13 exciting and the wonderful thing. 06:15 In experiments boys and girls biologists took these 06:18 sounding the tapes with microphones out in the 06:23 woods with recording and they played over this 06:26 tape fang being attacked by a coyote. 06:30 The coyote grounding and the fang making 06:32 mi-aa-aa, ba-aa-aa, ba-aa-aa a sound like that. 06:37 And in the white tailed deer, if the mother deer 06:39 is the doer had her found with her, 06:42 she wouldn't respond. She wouldn't go and see 06:44 what was going on. And with the mule deer 06:48 mother even if she had twins standing side 06:50 by side with her. She would respond and go 06:53 to that sound and she would look back and 06:55 forth and all around trying to find out what 06:57 isn't that? Every time she would respond and so the 07:01 thanking on that is, that here in the west where 07:04 the mule deer is more prominent. Right. 07:06 They are more open to attack from coyotes 07:08 and wolves and things of that nature. 07:10 So, those mothers are much more protective 07:13 of their fangs that all we can do. 07:16 You know, Ranger Jim that reminds me of a 07:17 thought, shouldn't we as Christians, amen, 07:20 very protective even of, even of one another, 07:23 not just within our own family unit, but shouldn't 07:25 we be looking out for one another, isn't that a 07:27 principle that's all through the Bible? 07:29 Amen, amen, it's been a thrill today to be here. 07:32 And to share some of this knowledge with you 07:34 boys and girls. I have finally found someone 07:36 who loves animals as much as I Ranger Rod. 07:38 So, this is Ranger Jim saying, as always don't 07:41 forget to tell Jesus you love him 07:43 because he really does love you. 07:57 He's got the whole world in His hands, 08:01 He's got the whole world in His hands, 08:05 He's got the whole world in His hands, 08:09 He's got the whole world in His hands. 08:13 He's got the tiny little baby in His hands 08:18 He's got the tiny little baby in His hands 08:22 He's got the tiny little baby in His hands 08:26 He's got the whole world in His hands 08:30 He's got you and me, brother, in His hands 08:34 He's got you and me, sister, in His hands 08:38 He's got you and me, brother, in his hands 08:42 He's got the whole world in His hands 08:46 He's got the whole world in His hands 09:01 Welcome to Learning Time, I'm glad that you 09:03 are here today. And you know, today we are 09:04 gonna do an exciting science experiment and 09:07 are you ready to do a science experiment? Yes. 09:11 Well, I'm gonna need three helpers and we have 09:13 Madison over here, Madison where are you 09:15 from? Illinois. Illinois? Hey, you are right at 09:18 home aren't you? Because we are in Illinois right 09:20 now. And then we have Christopher over here, 09:22 Christopher where are your from? 09:24 I'm from Georgia. From Georgia? 09:26 Well, how many of you are from Georgia 09:27 anybody? Oh! We got a few from Georgia. 09:29 And then we have Rena, Rena where are you from? 09:32 Tennessee. Tennessee? So, we are spread out 09:34 aren't we? Now, I want you all to come up here. 09:37 So, we have got our three helpers up here and why 09:39 don't you come on around here Rena and Madison 09:42 come on up here. And I have got something 09:43 in my hand right here. Oh! What do you, what 09:45 do you suppose these things are? 09:47 Balloons. These are balloons you know, 09:48 how many of you would like to make a lot of money? 09:51 It's not a bad idea. Okay, sure you have got to 09:53 make a living you know, there are some people 09:55 I came up with the balloon, I said you know 09:56 we could make a balloon that could sound like a 09:59 rocket, that would be a fun balloon, wouldn't it? 10:02 Yeah, and we got an shoe like a rocket too. 10:05 So, we are gonna study this little balloon up. 10:07 And what all we have to do is put some 10:09 air in the balloon. So, these are real hard to 10:11 blow up by a mouth. So, we are gonna use the pump. 10:13 Yup, hang on, there we go. Let's fill up our 10:16 balloon with our pump, here we, oh, hang on 10:20 having technical difficulties with our pump. 10:26 Wow, that's scare you, okay. We will try this one 10:30 again here and here we go, let's, let's 10:32 try to do this one. Alright, come on here 10:35 we go, here we go, here we go, may we can get 10:37 this thing work, we are gonna pump this thing up, 10:39 I'm gonna hand this to Christopher. 10:41 Okay, Christopher you ready grab this balloon, 10:43 okay and it's ready to do. So, you might wanna 10:46 straighten that out because you know, 10:47 rockets, rockets are usually straight, aren't they? 10:50 Yeah, the cricket rocket is going to go cricket isn't it? 10:54 So, let's go ahead and try to blow this balloon up too. 10:57 We will give this one here to Rena. 10:58 Okay, now inside of these balloons we have 11:01 what kind of pressure? What kind of pressure 11:03 inside? Air. Air pressure, sure. It's loaded with air 11:07 and that air, hang on to that Rena, okay. 11:11 these balloons are loaded with air, right. 11:12 Air pressure, air pressure is pushing out in all 11:15 directions, but if we release the valve in that's 11:19 where I'm putting air in there. Then the air comes 11:21 out very, very quickly and then the air pressure 11:25 is real low coming out higher pressure all around 11:29 it makes the balloon shoot out there, think we can 11:31 shoot these balloons out. Yeah. Okay, well we are 11:34 gonna do, we are gonna, we are gonna shoot them 11:35 out one at a time. So, why don't you start first 11:38 Christopher and just above their heads, 11:40 can you move right over here, and how about 11:41 let's give him three, two, one. Three, two, one, 11:51 Wow! How about that, Rena how about yours, 11:54 are you ready? So, in just above your heads and let 11:56 it go, count down, three, two, one, let it go. 12:07 Wow! Wow! Where it went there, my, 12:09 my goodness, are you ready for yours? Yes. 12:12 Okay, count down for the blue one, three, two, one, 12:16 and let's ready for this thing. Went on a ground, 12:21 Wow! Way over there. Wow! Now, that was 12:28 interesting wasn't it? Hey, let me ask you a question, 12:30 did you hear the balloon make a screaming sound? Yes. 12:33 It sounded just like a rocket. You know, why it 12:36 makes that screaming sound because these 12:38 scientists, these people had made these balloons. 12:40 They actually have a little valve in on here. 12:43 And it vibrates when the air comes out and it 12:45 makes that vibration. So, what we are gonna 12:47 do is I'm gonna put this balloon back on our pump. 12:50 I'm gonna pump this thing up, well we are 12:52 going to take that valve in, we are gonna shorten 12:55 it, we are gonna get a real short, so it can't vibrate. 12:59 Do you think the balloon is gonna sound like a rocket? 13:01 No. No, not if they can vibrate, so here we gonna 13:04 take this right here. Can you cut that for me? 13:07 We are gonna cut just this balloon in, 13:09 just a valve in off. We are gonna shorten it 13:11 up a little bit. So, put just cut it right between 13:14 my fingers, are you ready? Yeah. 13:17 Alright, do you think it's gonna make a sound? No. 13:19 How about the count down, three, 13:20 two, one, and there it goes. 13:26 Wow! Wow! Did it, it did make a sound at all did it. 13:29 No, but you know what, if you know lot about 13:33 science you might be just like those scientist that 13:35 came up with that balloon, everybody wants 13:37 one because they go fairly straight and they make 13:41 a sound like a screaming, screaming rocket, 13:43 isn't that cool? Yeah. I think so too, so we 13:46 can have fun with vibrations and sound. 13:49 And sound makes up a lot of our life. 13:51 Because I love to listen to those sounds, don't you? 13:54 Yes. Children, I think we all listen to good things, 13:56 shouldn't we? Yeah, yeah. Pleasant sounds, pleasing 13:58 sounds. And you know when you listen to music 14:00 you shouldn't listen to a real loud, should you? 14:02 No. No, it can hurt our ears. Well, remember 14:06 boys and girls every time we study more 14:08 about science, we are really learning more 14:10 about our creator and that's God. 14:21 Hey, Simon how you are doing? 14:22 I'm doing great. Well, I'm forgiven 14:25 I'm not in debt, I'm free. Wait a minute, calm 14:27 down little bit. How can I calm down? 14:30 What debt, what do you talking about? 14:31 Well, I owed the king 10,000 talents. 14:36 Ten thousand? I kept taking and taking 14:41 and not paying back. And I got into a terrible 14:44 situation. But why did you keep going back over 14:47 and over and again? Good question! 14:49 But the king, the king, what kind of man is he? 14:52 The king, well I didn't have much relationship with. 14:55 I'm now discovering he is gracious, he is patient, 14:59 he is forgiving. Now, you are telling me 15:01 someone that you hardly knew, yes, forgave you 15:04 10,000. Yes, I could have lost my wife, 15:07 my children, my home, everything 15:11 I owed everything. What a gracious king, 15:14 hey Simon is that Rubin over there? 15:17 Rubin? Yeah, Rubin. 15:19 Excuse me, just a minute. But wait a minute. 15:20 I need to talk to Rubin. Well, well, well, well 15:26 Rubin. Yes, sir. You haven't been hanging 15:29 around too much, have you? 15:30 No Simon, I haven't. I wonder why? 15:33 Well, I just had things I have had to do. 15:35 Yeah, well that hasn't been paying back money has it? 15:38 Well, I haven't got it right. 15:39 Exactly, you haven't got it, have you? 15:41 No, I haven't got it. You know, how much 15:43 time I have given you. But if you just give me 15:45 time. How much time? Just a little time. 15:48 Yeah, that what you have a little time. 15:51 Guard, I want no mercy. Let's take him to jail, 15:58 take him, go, but listen, I have, move, I have, move. 16:04 Simon didn't just say that the king have forgiven 16:09 you a huge debt. You didn't show him any 16:14 mercy what so over. He owed a lot of money. 16:17 But if the king showed you mercy. 16:19 Thank you, king. He owed me money. 16:22 But you should have, poor Rubin, no mercy. 16:31 There is the king. Simon, Simon, I have 16:35 heard that you have not shown mercy to your 16:38 servant. Therefore, I recind my mercy to you. 16:45 And I decree that you shall go to prison until 16:50 your debt is paid in full. Guard, guard arrest 16:56 him, put him in prison. I need more time. 17:01 Benjamin tell my wife go talk to the king, 17:03 I don't need to go, I don't. Oh! Simon, poor Simon, 17:14 I have learned such a valuable lesson today, 17:17 if God in his love and mercy can forgive me. 17:22 I must learn to forgive others. I have got to tell 17:27 this to my family, I have got to 17:28 share this with my family. 19:35 Hi, boys and girls, it's time for Ms. Brenda's 19:38 Book of the Day. And today's book is called 19:43 Good as Gold by Heather Grovet. 19:45 Boys and girls, if you like horses you're gonna 19:47 want to get this book. Well, today is a very 19:50 special program because I have somebody very 19:53 special in the studio, somebody the whole 19:55 world loves, she came to Kids time when she was 19:58 just seven years old and taped a program with me. 20:00 And today she is back, welcome to 20:02 the program Sarah. Thank you Sarah for 20:04 coming back to Kids time and you brought your 20:07 mom Denise with you today. Sarah how old are 20:09 you now? Twelve. Twelve and you just got 20:12 a great big praise report, should you let mom tells 20:14 us about it? Mom Sarah just had a recent checkup. 20:18 Yeah, she went in for brain tumor clinic 20:20 something she has to do all the time and they 20:23 said there is no sign of cancer coming back and 20:27 her, her chances of getting it back have 20:29 gotten a lot less. Oh! That's praise the 20:32 Lord. That's awesome because when you came 20:34 to Kids time before you, you told me something on 20:37 the program about yourself, what did you 20:38 tell me? Yeah. Do you remember you told me 20:41 that you had something wrong with you, and what 20:42 was wrong with you? I had, you had, I had a 20:47 cancer. You had cancer? And you had a brain 20:51 tumor and did you, and you had to have 20:53 surgery didn't you? Yes. And Jesus is really 20:56 healing you, isn't he? Yeah. Yeah, and now in 20:59 fact your doctors told you that you would never 21:01 walk again and you, you know, that Jesus did 21:05 something special because you not only 21:07 walk, you can run, and what else can you do? 21:12 You can ride a bike. You sent me a little. 21:15 And I can walk better. Yes, you can walk better 21:19 that's right. Because Ms. Brenda carried you on 21:21 program the last time didn't I and I didn't have 21:23 to carry you today, did I? You walked right in here 21:26 and, and I was so excited to see you. 21:29 And I also saw little video of you riding your 21:31 bike and so that was, I bet that surprised the doctors, 21:34 but you had a doctor that she wasn't very nice to 21:37 you, was she? What did she, what did she tell you? 21:40 That's my face is funny and it will be always be 21:47 funny and ugly all the time. She told you that 21:54 your face looked funny, it was always gonna look 21:56 funny and that you were always gonna look ugly. 21:58 That's a terrible thing to say, isn't it? Yeah. 22:00 And how did that make you feel? Sad. 22:03 Made you feel sad I, I think I would have gone 22:05 home and cried about it, did you? Yeah. But then 22:08 you, you, you shared some Ms. Brenda that 22:10 really touched my heart because you really prayed 22:13 for her, and God gave you a love in your heart for 22:16 her, didn't you? And, and you, you wanted to be a 22:20 witness to her. And mom share with us 22:22 Sarah, what Sarah told you? 22:24 Well, when we found out, we would have to go back 22:26 to this doctor. Sarah said, well mom I don't think 22:29 we should have fired her because if, if we don't go 22:32 back who is gonna tell her about Jesus. 22:34 Oh! And so now, you get a chance to go back and 22:38 see the doctor and isn't she is gonna be surprised 22:40 to see you that you are walking and running and 22:42 riding your bike. That is so exciting. Well, Sarah 22:47 what would you tell boys and girls that look 22:50 different, what would you say to them? 22:53 Their face is pretty and Jesus made it. 22:59 That's right, because if Jesus made our faces 23:01 they are beautiful, right? And Jesus did make our 23:04 faces. Well, Sarah I have a letter here I would like 23:08 to read. And this letter is from Amy, she is from 23:12 Michigan. Can you hold, Oh! She brought us a 23:14 picture, I love your pictures boys and girls. 23:16 Can you hold that picture up for me Sarah? Yeah. 23:18 Okay, and this girl says, Dear Ms. Brenda, how 23:22 are you? I watch your show all the time and 23:26 I love to share Jesus with my friends and I tell them 23:29 about Christian clubs like Kids Club. Please tell 23:32 Sarah that I pray for her almost every night and 23:35 not to feel sad because she can't do some of the 23:38 things that other kids can do. Well, I have to go 23:40 now, sincerely Amy. PS: I love Kids time. 23:44 Well, wasn't that sweet, she prays for you every 23:47 night. And you know, I think there is, there is 23:49 a lot of kids that you don't even know about 23:52 probably thousands of kids around the world 23:54 have been praying for you Sarah. 23:55 Let's do there is a letter over here. 23:57 And this letter is from Tobago, let's see what 24:00 who is this from? I'm trying to open it really 24:04 faster. It says, Dear, Ms. Brenda and it's from 24:07 Hakim from Tobago.
