00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:06 looking for a friend like Jesus.
00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there;
00:13 let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time.
00:24 Hi, boys and girls. My grandson Michael
00:27 is the most precious little boy you would ever
00:29 want to meet. I love him so much,
00:32 but I am going to tell you something right now.
00:33 He is a very picky eater. In fact,
00:36 I think he is probably the pickiest eater
00:38 I have ever seen. He does not like salad.
00:40 He doesn't like vegetables and also he cannot stand
00:45 to have his food touching on his plate.
00:47 He doesn't want his mashed potatoes to touch
00:49 his green beans or his peas or anything out
00:51 and he only really like cookies that are soft
00:53 and round. He doesn't enjoy eating very
00:56 much at all. And it's quite an ordeal to keep
00:59 him happy at meal times. But that sort of reminds
01:02 me of some of the people that lived in Bible times
01:05 in Jesus day. The Jews were God's chosen people
01:08 and they were very careful about what they ate,
01:10 how they dressed and also how they kept
01:13 the Sabbath, but the problems was they
01:15 thought they were better than everybody else
01:18 and they wouldn't eat with other people.
01:21 They were not talked with them or shake hands
01:23 with them. They completely misunderstood what
01:25 it meant to be God's special people.
01:27 They thought that the Messiah was coming to save
01:29 only them and no one else. Even Jesus disciples
01:34 Simon Peter thought that way until well after
01:36 Jesus death and resurrection and then one night he had
01:40 a very special dream. It was a very strange dream
01:43 and it was all about animals or was it.
01:47 You'll have to find out in today's Bible story.
01:49 But right now it's time see what
01:51 Ranger Jim has to show us.
01:59 Hi, boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying
02:01 welcome to Nature Time. We're glad that
02:03 you could join us today. We are at
02:04 Southern Adventist University, and I have my
02:06 friend with me Korine Juhl. And Korine is going
02:08 to tell us something about looks,
02:09 all like mosses to me. What is this?
02:12 This is the best stuff you could ever find.
02:16 Wonderful! And for anyone out there,
02:18 that they ever had to mow the lawn for your parents.
02:21 This is your friend right here.
02:24 These are called mosses and liverworts.
02:27 Those are great names. No, it's not made of liver
02:30 and it definitely won't give you worts but,
02:32 it's great stuff. Right here this stuff is called moss.
02:37 You see it every day. It's outside on your lawn.
02:40 It's out; you slip on it if you step on a log,
02:43 it's just everywhere outside. It's in Australia,
02:46 even Antarctica. And these are two different
02:50 kinds of mosses, there are so many different kinds.
02:53 They are amazing. Okay, right here we have
02:56 liverworts. Liverworts, you'll never be able to tell
03:01 the difference between the two of them.
03:03 But, if you try really hard you might be able
03:07 to trick your parents into just telling them
03:09 something they didn't know, alright,
03:12 right here how you can tell. These have little
03:15 tiny spiky ends on them that you are not going
03:18 to able to see unless the kids look really,
03:21 really close. And they look like little tiny
03:24 needles on the ends of it. Do won't find that
03:27 on these? And that's what a moss is.
03:28 A moss doesn't have the little cilia on the end
03:32 but on the liverworts they do. Alright,
03:35 so see there you know something your parents
03:38 don't already. Okay, these things make the
03:41 best thing to play on. If you want to run around
03:45 in your yard this is the way to do it. It's soft,
03:48 it's fun, it's squishy, you can even make a
03:51 bed out of it. It's great to lay on when you are
03:53 camping out in your backyard.
03:55 This is wonderful stuff. I don't like to mow the lawn,
04:00 and you don't have to. This is God's carpet right here,
04:03 amen, and it is beautiful. It's green
04:06 and it makes everything, look wonderful.
04:09 It takes off all the rough edges on the earth
04:13 and make them soft and beautiful just like
04:15 God meant them to be. But it doesn't like
04:17 a lot of bright sun shine, is that right?
04:20 It comes; some of them do like some sun shine.
04:23 Some of the liverworts, some of these kind
04:25 right here do like some sun shine.
04:27 This one will take or gives some of both,
04:30 but they love rain, love water.
04:33 Well, the reason why I said that, I know that
04:35 in our farm at home, that we have some of that,
04:37 I always just called it moss. It's moss to me,
04:39 okay, then now you've educated me,
04:41 but we have a place where it's quite,
04:43 its some open sunshine but this just flourishes
04:45 and as you say you walk on it, it's squishy like
04:48 a carpet, it is, it's beautiful springing
04:50 and nice and enjoy like that.
04:51 It's like you have springs on your feet.
04:53 Now it's just really neat. Isn't wonderful
04:55 boys and girls to learn it. Thank your Korine
04:57 for teaching us and showing us these things.
04:59 Boys and girls this is Ranger Jim once again
05:01 saying don't forget to tell Jesus that you love
05:04 him because, he really does love you.
05:14 Here my words daddy. What words are these?
05:18 Peace, faith and duty. Those are beautiful words.
05:23 Wonderful words of life. That's right.
05:29 Sing them over again to me, Wonderful words of life,
05:36 Let me more of their beauty see,
05:40 Wonderful words of life; Words of life and beauty
05:47 Teach me faith and duty.
05:50 Beautiful words, wonderful words,
05:54 Wonderful words of life;
05:57 Beautiful words, wonderful words,
06:01 Wonderful words of life.
06:06 Christ, the blessed One, gives to all
06:10 Wonderful words of life;
06:13 Sinner, list to the loving call,
06:18 Wonderful words of life;
06:21 All so freely given, Wooing us to heaven.
06:28 Beautiful words, wonderful words,
06:32 Wonderful words of life;
06:36 Beautiful words, wonderful words,
06:39 Wonderful words of life.
06:45 Sweetly echo the Gospel call,
06:48 Wonderful words of life;
06:51 Offer pardon and peace to all,
06:55 Wonderful words of life;
06:59 Jesus, only Savior, Sanctify us forever.
07:06 Beautiful words, wonderful words,
07:10 Wonderful words of life;
07:13 Beautiful words, wonderful words,
07:17 Wonderful words of life.
07:32 Welcome to learning time. Say we've got a
07:34 special program for you today.
07:36 I am glad that you joined us.
07:38 I have three special helpers with me.
07:40 I have Christian and I have Kristen then
07:42 I've got Jodie. Thanks for helping us today.
07:45 We've got some special equipment up here,
07:47 in fact, you might have some of these
07:48 equipment at home. Oh they are, what are these?
07:52 Glasses. These are glasses. Now if you gonna do
07:54 this experiment at home and if you gonna do
07:56 this experiment you're gonna need permission
07:58 because you know what sometimes these are real
08:01 pretty glasses and they might be expensive
08:03 and if you are not careful they might what? Break.
08:05 Break, we don't want that to happen,
08:07 well that would send you to your room in a hurry,
08:09 wouldn't it? Yes. Well, today we're gonna see
08:12 if we can get some sound out of these glasses,
08:15 and we called this the singing glasses.
08:17 Have you ever heard glasses sing?
08:19 No. Can you sing? Yes. Yeah, we can all sing,
08:24 but can object sing? We know they can make
08:26 a sound and so what I am going to,
08:28 I am going to pick up this glass,
08:29 quite a pretty glass. I like the shape.
08:31 It's made out of glass and that's the solid, isn't it?
08:33 And you know what, If I tap it, that it's going
08:35 to make a what. Sound. It's like a sound.
08:38 So, Lets tap it. Can you hear that sound?
08:40 Yes. It sounds like a what? Bell.
08:43 A bell, sure now, that means that this glass
08:47 has a resonant frequency that it vibrates,
08:50 it's vibrating when I hit it just like that.
08:53 Now what we gonna do we are gonna try to get
08:55 these things to sing and boy do they ever sing.
08:57 Now we have got three of our helpers right here.
08:59 And we ought to have our trio, right.
09:01 I mean three people in a trio. Well,
09:03 what we're gonna do is if we're gonna make these
09:05 glasses vibrate and make a sound for us.
09:08 We're gonna rub the lip or the edge of them
09:10 with our finger, but you know what happens
09:12 most of the times our fingers have body
09:14 oils on it, right, that's a normal secretion
09:17 of our body. Keeps our skin from cracking
09:19 and breaking off and that's not a good thing,
09:21 is it no? So we gonna take some of that greasy stuff
09:25 off of our finger like body lotion and natural oils
09:30 that our body secretes. So lets put some
09:32 alcohol on here. Now if you don't have alcohol
09:34 you could use some vinegar. We use vinegar, don't we?
09:36 Yeah, we fix things with vinegar.
09:38 Now let's take our finger and let's go ahead and wet,
09:41 here is some water right here just dip your finger
09:44 that we dip in alcohol and dip it right into the water
09:47 and then we're going to rub the edge or the round
09:50 of our what? Glass. Lets see if we can get
09:52 some sound out of here. Would you like to hear
09:54 him do that. Yes. Well, let's go and we start
09:56 with Christian first. Do you hear that?
10:01 It's vibrating. Okay, Kristen. Lets see if
10:04 we can get a sound out of it. You hear those.
10:08 Jodie, lets try and hear hers.
10:11 Wow! Isn't that a pretty sound? Yes.
10:13 Oh! Yeah, you know what? What we doing right now
10:16 is we're vibrating this glass glass and there is a column
10:18 of air inside of that glass but what I'm going to do
10:21 this time is I am going to pour some water.
10:24 Let me pour some water in Christian's glass.
10:27 Not a whole lot Christian, just about right there.
10:30 Lets see what it sounds like now.
10:32 Listen, hear that sound, does it sound
10:36 a little different? Well, its a little bit hard for us
10:39 to distinguish the first sound with that sound,
10:41 but these next sounds ought to be different,
10:44 'cause you know what I'm going to do. In Kristen's
10:46 I going to go ahead and I'm gonna pour more water
10:49 in her glass. Look at there, is that more water
10:51 than this first glass, so we have what,
10:54 we have a small amount of air here, a large amount
10:57 of air right here. So why don't you try yours,
10:59 Kristen. You hear that. Let's go back
11:04 to Christian. Do yours. Not working.
11:08 Okay, you have to wet your finger you got
11:10 to wet your finger, go ahead and do that,
11:11 you can put your finger right in there, okay,
11:13 is yours wet quite enough. Okay, okay,
11:17 can you try yours again oh! You want to put yours,
11:19 alright, here we go, alright.
11:21 What I want to do is I want to tell the difference,
11:23 okay, go ahead. Do yours again.
11:29 Can you hear the difference? Well, it's
11:31 changing and in pairs isn't it. Oh! Lets go ahead
11:34 and put a lot of water in Jodie's glass right here.
11:38 We're gonna go ahead and put a lot more water
11:39 than the other two and lets listen to this sound.
11:42 Okay, Jodie, are you ready? Do you hear that?
11:47 Yes. This one has a very low frequency, isn't it?
11:50 That means that it's vibrating
11:51 very, very slowly. Hey, lets go back, here we go.
11:54 Lets review, here is Christian's.
11:57 A high frequency sound a lot of vibrations
12:00 very quickly. It's getting lower, isn't it?
12:05 That's right because why well,
12:07 what do we have? Water space.
12:10 We got more water and you know what's happening
12:12 it makes that glass vibrate slowly
12:14 because of that water. The water slows down
12:17 the vibration and this one right here.
12:19 The water really slowed the vibration down,
12:22 and I can look inside. And you know what
12:23 I can see go ahead and keep doing it.
12:24 Lets do all three. Can you see that the water
12:26 is vibrating in the glass? May be you can see
12:29 that, it's really vibrating. You want to try some
12:31 more or you can dip your finger right in your
12:33 water right there and let's try. Here we go.
12:35 Well, you know you can do that at home.
12:37 Everything has a resonant frequency that
12:40 it can make a sound even glasses.
12:43 Isn't that interesting? Oh, I think so too.
12:45 you know what happens here on the Bible
12:47 it talks about Jesus when he was coming
12:49 into the City, you know what he said that
12:52 if the people didn't shout and clap for joy
12:55 and wave those palm branches that even
12:58 the rocks would make noise, didn't He?
13:00 That's interesting. And they're animate,
13:02 they're inanimate objects like that glass.
13:04 I think that is cool. Hey, thanks for helping us
13:07 for that. You can have fun with this experiment too.
13:10 Just get permission first. Otherwise you might
13:13 break some and that's really valuable.
13:16 And every time we learn something new about
13:17 science, we're learning something new about
13:20 our creator God.
15:12 Thank you. God bless you. Okay. 'Simon the Tanner'
15:20 Just who I needed to see. It's good to see you.
15:22 Yes, my wife broke a sandal and needs to have
15:25 it repaired, we're kind of in a hurry.
15:26 Oh! Well, I do the best that I can, but you know
15:29 I can scarcely keep my mind on work these days.
15:32 Really, why is that? Well, the Great Apostle Peter
15:36 came to my house. He came to your house.
15:38 Yes, the disciple of Jesus Peter was at your house.
15:42 He was at my house. You know I don't get
15:43 many visitors. I know. Because my profession
15:45 is not very well respected, but Peter
15:48 came to my house, and one day while my wife
15:51 was cooking he was very hungry so he went
15:53 on the roof to escape the smell of the food
15:56 and while there on my roof God gave Peter a vision.
16:00 Really. A vision at your house. A vision at my house.
16:04 No. Yes. A sheet came down from heaven
16:08 and in that sheet were all manner of unclean,
16:12 four-footed beasts. Four-footed beasts?
16:15 A vision of unclean animals? Yes, and a voice
16:18 from heaven said arise Peter, kill and eat.
16:21 Can you imagine? You don't say.
16:23 Three times the voice asked him,
16:25 to arise kill and eat. Oh! Yes. All right-y, bye, bye.
16:35 But Peter answered the voice and said,
16:37 I've never eaten anything common or unclean.
16:40 Well, that's right. But you know that vision
16:44 had nothing to do with food. It didn't.
16:47 Nothing to do with food. Well, whatever could
16:48 the vision mean? The vision was about people.
16:52 Really? Yes, how do you know? It was about people,
16:55 because in the city of Caesarea some mile away
16:58 a Roman centurion by the name Cornelius
17:01 was also fasting and praying. He was asking
17:04 God to send some one to him to direct his life.
17:08 Really? And an Angel came to Cornelius
17:10 and told him to come to my house and get Peter.
17:13 And let me get this straight, an Angel came
17:17 to a Roman's house and knew where you lived?
17:21 Yes, the angel knew where I lived.
17:22 He knew your house by name. He knew my house.
17:25 Amazing. And the men came and got Peter
17:29 and Peter went back to Caesarea and he preached
17:31 to that Roman centurion, his family and his friends
17:35 and all of them gave their lives to the Master.
17:38 They became Christians. They became Christians.
17:41 And it started at your house. It started at my
17:44 house because, Peter understood that no man
17:48 should be called common or unclean.
17:51 God gave Peter a vision that began his ministry
17:55 to the gentiles and it started at my house.
17:59 You know, Simon God is no respecter of persons.
18:02 Yes. And not only that you are an important man
18:05 too even if you are a tanner.
18:07 Isn't God wonderful? God is so good and I will try
18:11 to get to this just as soon as I can.
18:12 Oh! Thanks for sharing this story with me Simon.
18:15 Blessings. Blessings.
18:36 Oh there's a half a million reasons
18:41 to be thankful everyday, a half a million reasons
18:46 and I can't begin to say, all of the things
18:52 that Jesus does for me I knew could afford,
18:56 wish I had a million ways to praise the Lord.
19:02 Oh there's a half a million reasons to be
19:08 thankful everyday, a half a million reasons
19:13 and I can't begin to say, all of the things
19:19 that Jesus does for me I knew could afford,
19:23 wish I had a million ways to praise the Lord,
19:29 wish I had a million ways to
19:32 praise the Lord, praise the Lord.
19:43 Hi, boys and girls. I am here today with
19:45 Sheila and Sharon and Lisa and we want
19:50 to tell you it's time for Miss Brenda's
19:51 Book of the Day. And I am so happy to bring
19:56 this book to you boys and girls.
19:57 This is called 'Packy the runaway elephant"
19:59 and it's written by Ethel Maxine Neff
20:01 and this is a adorable book that I actually loved
20:05 when I was a little girl. And this is all about
20:07 Packy and his, the elephant and he runs
20:10 away and he get into such mischief and adventure,
20:12 when he runsaway from the zoo.
20:14 Oh! He gets into some terrible stuff.
20:16 I'm looking through here. And he is out scaring
20:19 people and he crashes into things and he sets out,
20:22 he is even in the middle of a tractor field that
20:24 looks like oh! Boys and girls, you are not going
20:27 to want to miss this book;
20:28 Packy the runway elephant by Ethel Maxine Neff.
20:33 Well, I am so excited today because
20:35 I have not one, not two, but three sisters
20:39 with me today and that's pretty unusual
20:41 for me on Kids Time. Hi, girls.
20:42 Hi. Hi, I am so excited now where are you from?
20:46 Washington. Washington, Washington State.
20:49 And, can you tell me maybe I'll ask Lisa
20:53 what do you do to share Jesus because,
20:54 she do something as sisters right.
20:56 What project you work on? We made pajamas,
20:59 fifty two pajamas for kids in a orphanage.
21:02 For an orphanage. Fifty two pajamas now let me
21:06 ask you this now, did you actually sew
21:07 all those pajamas. I didn't. What was your
21:11 help with it? I put the elastic in the pants
21:13 and sewed the buttons on. And Sharon,
21:16 what did you do? I put the elastic in the pants
21:19 and sewed the buttons on. You did that too
21:21 and did you do that too? No, I sewed on the suits,
21:26 and then no, I did the pants. And you did
21:28 the pants too. Yeah You actually did some
21:30 of the sewing, now whose idea was this to do
21:33 make the pajamas for orphanages,
21:35 'cause I think that's a wonderful idea.
21:37 Our grandma. Your grandma thought of that.
21:40 She was just kind a make a few but then
21:42 we made lots. But then you made lots and what colors.
21:45 Were all the same color or? All different.
21:48 All different colors and what about sizes.
21:50 All the sizes they needed. All the sizes,
21:53 they gave us all the sizes that they needed.
21:55 Oh! So you, where was the orphanage at,
21:57 do you remember? In Mexico.
21:58 In Mexico, and so they send their sizes
22:02 of the kids ahead of time, and so you knew what
22:04 sizes to make. Did you make any little bitty
22:06 little ones. You did oh! And what was your
22:09 favorite part about helping with that project?
22:14 It was all fun. It was all fun. You liked it,
22:17 did it make you feel good when you were sharing
22:19 Jesus that way. That's good well,
22:22 let me ask you this. Do you love Jesus?
22:25 Yes. Well you know I want to encourage
22:27 you to keep sharing Jesus every single day,
22:29 everywhere you go, okay. Well, I am so glad
22:32 you're here with me today. We're gonna read
22:33 some letters. Are you interested in staying
22:35 and helping me. And maybe we'll have some pictures
22:37 for you to hold up in just a minute?
22:38 'Cause, I have lots of letters here.
22:40 Lets see who this one is from and oh! we've got
22:45 a picture here. Can you hold it up just like this
22:48 and it looks like it's from a computer.
22:50 Hope you can see that okay. It says,
22:52 dear Miss Brenda. My name is Kristina
22:54 and five-years-old. My brother Christopher
22:56 is three-years-old and my other brother Benjamin
22:59 is nine-months-old. We all enjoy Kids Time
23:01 and we listen to the Kids Time praise
23:03 all the time too. I share Jesus by helping
23:06 customers at my grandma's store
23:07 and I also gave my swimming teacher a card
23:10 that I made for her. Please send me some Kids Time
23:12 activity books and sign me up for Kids Club.
23:15 Love Kristina Rogers. Well, Kristina she is from
23:18 Michigan. Thank you for that and what a wonderful
23:20 picture that was and I will get you signed up
23:22 for our Kids Club, okay. And get those lessons
23:24 out to you. Then we have a letter here
23:27 and this is from United Arab Emirates.
23:30 And let's see what's in this picture.
23:32 Oh! There is some colorful little things
23:35 in here, looks like you've made some little hats
23:37 and a beautiful picture. Can you hold that
23:39 picture up for me. Let's see this says, dear
23:42 Miss Brenda thank you for your wonderful show.
23:45 My name is Jaysiah and my sister's Camazza

24:23 Let's see I have a letter here and another
24:26 wonderful picture. Can you help me again Sheila.
24:28 Whoops, I have it upside down there, okay,
24:30 it looks like she is with her dog there,
24:32 that looks nice, it says dear Miss Brenda
24:34 I share Jesus by telling my cousin about Jesus
24:36 and I told him why Jesus died on the cross for us.
24:39 He seemed interested so I will keep telling him
24:41 about Jesus. I have another thing to tell
24:44 you too. I share Jesus by taking this little girl
24:46 to vacation Bible school and we play games there
24:50 and everything and sing songs and listen to the
24:52 stories and also eat a snack, and it was lots
24:54 of fun and we also learned a lot about
24:57 Jesus, from Kelsey Kurt . Well Kelsey,
25:00 thank you for that letter and I am glad
25:02 that you're sharing Jesus too and that's
25:04 such a cute picture of you and your dog.
25:07 And let's see I have a picture. Let's see this,
25:10 read this one from Utah. Let's see who is writing
25:12 us from Utah, and it says, dear Miss Brenda.
25:17 My name is Conner. I am eleven-years-old
25:19 and I like your show a lot. I watch it
25:20 whenever I can. I share Jesus by telling my friends
25:23 that I can't play on Saturday and I tell them
25:26 why because it is the Sabbath, God's day.
25:29 Thank you so much. God bless you. Please send me
25:31 Kids Club lessons. From Conner.
25:33 Well thank you Conner and that is wonderful
25:35 to tell your friends about Sabbath, isn't it?
25:39 Let's see I might have another one here.
25:41 Looks like this one from Brunswick, Maine,
25:44 and this one says, dear Miss Brenda,
25:48 I watch Kids Time with my little brother
25:50 and sister on 3ABN. I am 5-1/2.
25:52 I am learning to write. I share Jesus by praying
25:55 with my grandma when she comes to have
25:57 lunch with us and I also pray with my neighbors.
26:00 Please send me an activity book.
26:01 Thank you very much. Love, Dolphay.
26:04 Well, thank you so much that was so wonderful

26:12 all of these letters with you, but I do want
26:14 to thank Sheila and Sharon and Lisa
