00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:07 Looking for a friend like Jesus. 00:10 It's time to share there's a world 00:12 out there; let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:17 Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:24 Hi, boys and girls. You know I just love 00:26 going to family weddings because they're really more 00:29 like family reunions in disguise, aren't they? 00:31 I get to see my brothers and sisters and aunts and 00:34 uncles and even friends that I haven't seen in years 00:37 and I get to see how much my nieces and nephews 00:39 have grown, and of course, you know what there is 00:41 always those goodies to eat afterwards. 00:44 I would have been very sad though if I could not have 00:46 attended my own daughter's wedding. 00:48 Weddings are family affairs, but sometimes 00:51 not every one is able to make it. And today our 00:53 Bible story is about a wedding that no one in the 00:56 bride's family got to attend, and in fact, they didn't 00:59 even get meet the bridegroom before the 01:00 wedding, not even the bride got to meet the 01:03 groom until the wedding, which happened far from 01:05 her childhood at home. It sounds kind of scary, 01:08 doesn't it? Going off to a long distance land to marry 01:11 someone you've never even met, but this bride 01:13 had no misgivings at all, and do you know why? 01:17 Because she knew that God himself had chosen 01:19 the bridegroom. And she had nothing to fear. 01:23 Well, boys and girls God is interested in your 01:25 relationships with others and since he can see into 01:28 people's hearts. He is the best one to choose your 01:31 future husband or wife. Don't forget that God's 01:33 way is always the best way. Well right now it's 01:37 time to see what Ranger Jim has for us today. 01:47 Hi, boys and girls. Ranger Jim saying, welcome to 01:49 Nature Time, look where we are today. 01:51 We are in beautiful Raccoon Mountain Cavern 01:53 and it is just absolutely a beautiful place to be and 01:57 our friend Patty who is a trained geologist is going 02:00 to tell us about some of these beautiful formations. 02:04 Thank you Ranger Jim. Up on the ceiling up here we 02:07 have a whole line of little soda straws and soda 02:10 straws get their names because it's soda water 02:12 coming through them and they're hollow in the 02:14 middle just like a straw. As the water hangs out 02:19 there, carbon dioxide goes back out into the air and a 02:22 little ring of calcite is left behind. These things on 02:26 average grow about an inch every hundred years. 02:30 An inch in a hundred years. Yes. Amazing. 02:36 When the holes get clogged up sometimes we 02:39 will get these big carrot shape things hanging from 02:41 the ceiling. If the water runs down that side. 02:43 They're shaped some what like a carrot aren't they? 02:44 Yes, they are. And I bet you know what those are 02:47 called, don't you? What are they called? 02:48 They're called stalactites. Stalactites. Yes. 02:52 They're the ones that hang down. 02:54 Yes. And as the water drips down from the 02:58 stalactites rocks grow up from the ground as the 03:02 minerals are deposited, kind of like over there. 03:04 Right, those are we can see they're growing up and 03:06 those are called? Stalagmites and there are 03:09 an easy way you can remember the difference 03:10 between the two, stalactites hold tight to the ceiling. 03:14 Stalagmites you might trip over. 03:17 It's also a good safety too. Very good, very good. 03:20 Sometimes stalactites and stalagmites will grow 03:23 together and touch from floor to ceiling, then we 03:26 have a column. After stalactites, stalagmites 03:30 most everything's an easy word, the bumpy stuff on 03:33 the rocks right here, it's all called Cave popcorn. 03:36 Pave popcorn, cave popcorn. 03:41 Okay, cave popcorn. Is it cave? Yes. 03:43 Oh! I see it's round, isn't it? 03:44 Little piece of it, well, how do that form? 03:47 A long time ago when the cave was flooded, 03:50 minerals in the water would be left behind on 03:52 rocks already there, formed the little bumps 03:55 on them. So, they call it popcorn. Popcorn 03:58 Neat, okay. It's also called cave coral, 04:00 but not so much anymore because over time people 04:05 have gotten the idea that cave coral comes from a 04:07 living organism, which it doesn't. 04:10 So, it's called popcorn. What are these beautiful 04:13 big things we have here that's hanging down? 04:15 What are they called? Those are called 04:16 draperies. They're a special kind of formation, 04:19 oh! They look beautiful, for flowing water. 04:20 We talked about the stalactites, stalagmites 04:23 that's all dripping water, but now the flowing 04:26 water we have draperies flow stone. A stone that 04:30 formed from flowing water. Bacon strips, 04:35 a special kind of drapery where if you shine light 04:38 from behind it, it will be red and white just like a 04:41 raw piece of bacon. Amazing! Now tell me. 04:44 Now, are we safe, I see some these stone look 04:47 like they may be have fallen in the past? 04:49 Yeah, some of these really big blocks have 04:52 fallen down, but it's nothing we have to worry 04:55 about, not today, not a thousand years from now. 05:00 The cave is really stable. What happens is when the 05:02 cave's first forming the water level is up by the 05:05 ceiling and when the water level first drops all 05:09 of a sudden air is trying to hold up the ceiling. 05:12 Well, it just like swimming in water 05:15 versus swimming through air. Well, we can't 05:17 swim through air. The air can't hold the 05:19 rocks up they fall down. They fall down. 05:21 So, they're called break down. 05:22 So, we're safe today in the cave. 05:24 It is just, to me it's such a thrill to be here 05:27 and see these wonderful things that God have 05:29 made for us to see and enjoy. 05:31 Boys and girls this is Ranger Jim saying as 05:34 always don't forget to tell Jesus that you love him 05:37 because he really does love you. 05:52 I hear an Ambulance, somebody is hurt. 05:54 Uncle Buddy that's just me and I am not hurt. 05:57 I am just doing the Choir warm-ups, my teacher 05:59 taught me. They go like this. 06:05 They keep me singing. Just like Jesus. 06:08 Yes, Jesus keeps me singing. 06:15 There's within my heart a melody 06:18 Jesus whispers sweet and low, 06:22 Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still, 06:26 In all of life's ebb and flow. 06:29 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest Name I know, 06:37 Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go. 06:44 Feasting on the riches of His grace, 06:48 Resting neath His shelt'ring wing, 06:52 Always looking on His smiling face, 06:55 That is why I shout and sing. 06:59 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest Name I know, 07:06 Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go. 07:13 Soon He's coming back to welcome me, 07:17 Far beyond the starry sky; I shall wing my flight to 07:22 worlds unknown, I shall reign with Him on high. 07:28 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest Name I know, 07:35 Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go. 07:52 Welcome to the Learning Time. 07:53 Say we've got a special program for you today, 07:56 and I've got an object right, what does that look like? 08:01 A Slingshot. A slingshot and I've got a 08:03 special helper with me, Caleb, thanks for helping 08:05 us. Okay now, you know what this was, right? 08:07 What is it? Slingshot. 08:09 It's a slingshot. Have you ever had one? 08:10 Yeah. What did you do with yours, did you? 08:12 What did you do? Play with it and does it 08:17 throw things? Oh! Yeah, it throws things. 08:20 Today we're going to be using a simple machine, 08:23 in fact, this is kind of a compound machine and 08:25 this machine right here, it's called a Trebuchet, 08:29 Can you say that? Trebuchet. 08:32 A lot of people call it a catapult, it's not a 08:34 catapult but it kind of looks like one, doesn't it? 08:36 And it does, Caleb, it throws things. 08:39 And let's just examine it over here. In fact, you 08:42 know what we have right here, we've got a big arm 08:44 right here. And that arm pivots on our little pivot 08:47 point that we call a fulcrum, and that's going 08:50 to pivot today, isn't it? And then you know what 08:52 we got another pivoting place right here. 08:54 And then down here we have a bag, and that bag 08:56 has some groceries, in it? It just got cans of food 09:00 just because we need some weight down there, okay. 09:03 And then the next thing we do is we're gonna 09:04 need to throw something. Can we throw you? 09:08 No, that wouldn't be good would it? 09:09 But, what do we have Caleb? 09:10 A ball. We got a ball, so we're gonna try to throw 09:13 a ball using a simple machine, actually a 09:15 complex machine, that's made out of some simple 09:18 machines right here. Well, I'll tell you what 09:21 we're gonna do, let's go ahead and demonstrate 09:22 this, first of all. We're gonna demonstrate 09:26 a sling, hey, who was it that used a slingshot? 09:29 David. Who was David. You remember stories 09:31 about David. Yeah, what kind of work did David do? 09:37 What did he take care of? 09:42 Was he was a shepherd? Yeah, David was a 09:44 shepherd. He had work to do just like you and I 09:47 have worked to do sometimes and he would 09:49 protect his sheep by scaring some animals off, 09:52 in fact, he even killed some animals, didn't he? 09:55 That's right. Well, I tell you what, let's go ahead 09:58 and demonstrate that, would you mind putting 09:59 that ball right in there. This is our little sling 10:02 and step back a little bit and David he would take 10:05 his sling and he would aim carefully and he 10:07 would let that rock fly and whoa! Right there 10:11 and it flew right into your hands, didn't it? 10:14 We'll put this back over here. Well, we're gonna 10:16 use a sling and we're gonna tie into our 10:19 Trebuchet. So, let's go ahead and do that. 10:22 So, we have a second, actually a first class lever 10:26 and we're going to put the ball right in there, 10:29 Caleb and get ready. There you might be able 10:31 to catch this ball. Are you ready? 10:33 Are you ready? Yes. Okay, let's put it down 10:35 over here. Caleb move back a little bit. 10:37 Boy, this thing is going to go and we're gonna 10:40 release this thing, hey, how about a 3, 2, 1. 10:42 Let's go, 3, 2, 1, let it go and whoa! 10:48 Way back there. Did you see that? It went all the 10:52 way back there. Hey, do you remember Caleb. 10:55 You remember the story about David, one day, his 10:58 father sent him to go visit his brothers and his 11:02 brothers were fighting the Philistines, weren't they? 11:05 What did David end up doing? 11:07 He started fighting. He started fighting and 11:10 there was a big Philistines. What was his name? 11:13 Goliath. It was Goliath, and you know what 11:15 David did, don't you? David found five smooth 11:19 stones. He put them in a sling and what did he do? 11:23 Shot it. He shot the sling. What did the rock hit? 11:28 Goliath, right in the middle of the forehead 11:31 and knocked him over. Well, they were 11:33 victorious today. The Philistines were defeated, 11:36 weren't they? Weren't they? 11:38 Oh! Yeah. You know, that reminds me. 11:40 A simple machine actually a complex 11:42 machine that has simple machines inside of it and 11:44 on the very end a slingshot and the 11:46 slingshot reminds me of David because David had 11:50 the power of God. When he killed Goliath, 11:52 do you thing that God was really blessing David 11:55 when he killed Goliath? That's right. 11:57 David had a work to do and he used the simple 12:01 machine to do that with. Isn't that interesting? 12:04 Oh! I think so too. And when we learn more 12:07 about science we learn more about our creator God. 12:21 Jesus loves me! this I know, 12:26 For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; 12:34 they are weak but He is strong. 12:38 Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! 12:47 Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. 13:05 Rebecca, look at you. You look so beautiful, 13:08 just splendid. Yes, I love your dress. 13:11 Where did you get this from? 13:13 And your jewels, they're absolutely fabulous. 13:17 Where would you get such jewels? 13:19 I got them from a man named Eleazar. 13:21 Oh! Maybe a new merchant. 13:23 Yeah. No, when I went to the well the other day 13:26 get straw water, this man was there, 13:29 he was a traveler. There's always travelers at the well. 13:32 He had many camel and he looked so bored, 13:35 tired and the camels looked so tired too. 13:38 So, why would he just given to you? 13:40 Well, he asked me for some water and of course 13:43 I gave him some water, and offered to water his. 13:47 offered to water his camels too. You did? 13:50 Yes. I wouldn't water anybody's camels. 13:53 That's a lot of work. Well, he was so grateful 13:57 he gave me these jewels. May be I would water the camel? 14:01 Yes. Oh! Wow! Look at how the. 14:08 This is beautiful. He must be a rich. 14:11 Just for watering camels. Look at that, look at those. 14:14 Oh! That is beautiful. But, the man asked me 14:18 for who my father was? And I told who he was 14:22 and he asked me if you had any place for him to 14:24 rest, for them rest that night, and so I told them 14:28 Yes, of course, we have place for his camels too. 14:32 And so I took them home and he met my father and 14:34 my family and we sat down to eat because it 14:37 was time and he wouldn't eat. 14:40 He would not eat? If he was thirsty, 14:46 he certainly would have been hungry. 14:48 That makes no sense at all. 14:49 Well, he would not eat until he told us what 14:52 he came for. This man was all the way from Canaan. 14:56 That is a long distance. That's a long way. 14:59 Yes. And he was a servant. He is a servant of Abraham. 15:03 Who's Abraham? Abraham is my 15:06 grandfather's brother and he had sent his 15:10 servant here to find a wife for his son. 15:12 He did? He chose you. Well, at the well he 15:17 prayed and asked the Lord that whoever the girl 15:20 that would come and offer to water the camels, 15:24 that that would be the girl for his master's son. 15:27 And you did just that. That means you're leaving. 15:32 Well, he asked my father and my father said, yes, 15:37 but, and they talked about it and then they wanted 15:41 to know if the wedding would be here to make 15:43 preparation. Yeah. Oh! Yes. 15:44 We would like here. Like your wedding is so 15:47 beautiful. Thank you. We'll help with your wedding. 15:52 It won't be here. 'Cause he said no he's 15:54 going to take me back to Canaan with him. 15:58 Why? Well, he said that his master had told him 16:01 bring the girl back with him. So, I am going to. 16:05 To whom, what is this man's name? 16:07 Abraham. But what is his son's name? 16:09 Isaac. Isaac. Have you ever seen him? Isaac. 16:15 Wait a minute, so you never ever seen him 16:17 and you've never been out of this town. 16:20 But, the Lord, it's up to Lord because of Eleazar's 16:24 prayer and we prayed and then my father said to ask 16:27 me if I would agree to go back and so I said, yes, 16:31 I would go back because I see it's of the Lord. 16:36 Oh! You are very brave. Yes. 16:39 Eleazar wants to leave as soon as possible, so that's 16:43 why I am packing. Oh! Wait a minute 16:44 you're leaving as soon as you mean, this is it. 16:46 Yes, what about this beautiful home. 16:50 You can't leave this beautiful home. 16:52 Well, the Lord wants me to go over there now. 16:54 So, we have to say goodbye. 16:58 And you're packing right this minute 17:00 Yes, I only have a couple more errands to do 17:02 and then we should be ready and set to go. 17:06 Oh! We're gonna miss you so much. 17:10 It was fun drawing the water at the well together. 17:13 Yes. Yes, it was. Well, Anna is getting a 17:15 little fussy so I need to go to. I've got some 17:17 things that we got do and, we'll meet you honey. 17:20 Oh! We're going to miss you so much. 17:22 We will miss you. Send us messages. 17:25 Tell us how you're doing over there. 17:27 Oh! I will. God go with you. 17:30 Bye, bye, bye, goodbye. I wish you well, 17:36 bye, goodbye. Bye Rebecca. 17:40 And Rebecca, I wish you many babies. 18:04 [Foreign Language] 19:23 It's time for Miss Brenda's book of the day. 19:27 And boys and girls what a wonderful book. 19:30 This is a true story, it's called Robby and it's 19:33 written by Velma Craven Meyer. And it's, Robby 19:37 lived an incredible 26 years migrating South 19:40 every Fall with his mate and returning in the 19:42 Spring to the family he loved. In this remarkable 19:45 story of friendship between a wild bird and 19:48 its human friends we see Eden revisited. 19:51 This glimpse into the life of one of God's small 19:53 creatures opens a window on what heaven would be like. 19:56 And this is Robby by Velma Craven Meyer, a 20:00 wonderful book. Yes, it is a wonderful 20:02 book Miss Brenda I read it. 20:03 You did. Yes. 20:04 Well, I tell you. I've also talked with other people 20:09 that like that book, so it'd be good for kids to read 20:11 right? Right. 20:12 Well, you know, let's introduce to the boys and 20:13 girls. Your name is Sarah, right. And Sarah where 20:16 are you from? Etowah, Tennessee. 20:19 Etowah, Tennessee, and Sarah we, this is not the 20:21 first time we met, is it? No. 20:22 Where did we meet for the first time? 20:24 Oshkosh, Wisconsin. That's right. We were up 20:27 there for the Faith on Fire Camporee for the 20:29 Pathfinder Camporee, and I was so excited because 20:33 when you came to the Kids Time booth, I had a 20:35 Kids Time 3 ABN booth up there and you were 20:38 wearing something special. Can you show the 20:40 boys and girls, in fact, you wrote in and sent me 20:42 picture of this and I shared this on the air. 20:43 Let's, you have the scarf here and pick in person, 20:47 look at that boys and girls. She was wearing 20:49 that scarf that said it's kids time to share Jesus. 20:53 Is that not incredible? And I was so impressed 20:56 and excited with that scarf. I loved it and you 20:58 wear that just people probably ask you what 21:01 kids time is, right? And what you tell them? 21:03 Actually, no one really asked me about, but I'm 21:05 sure people have seen it. They have, they have and 21:07 that way if someone says to me you know what 21:09 kids time. You can watch that, that's a great 21:10 program, right. Now you have someone else in 21:12 your lap, what is that? It's a quilt, when we went 21:16 to Oshkosh, we decided that with some friends we 21:20 are going to make quilts for AIDS babies. 21:22 Oh! That was a really good idea, now what part 21:27 of it, did you actually help with? 21:28 I've helped cut out the squares of material and 21:31 help. Sew it on. 21:36 So I think my mom and my friend's mom, they 21:38 sewed it on and made it all together and cut the 21:41 edges and washed it and.. And helped package it. 21:45 Yeah. Now you have also a picture you brought us 21:46 of some other quilts you made too that were 21:48 finished. Right there and there is a whole lot of 21:50 people. All those, the helpers that helped you 21:52 with that. That is a good, a good idea and what a 21:56 wonderful thing, and you know what, that's 21:58 something that boys and girls could do at home if 22:01 you have a parent or an adult that can help you 22:03 with that cause you probably will need for 22:05 some sewing on that, but oh! You can do, there is a 22:07 lot you could do like cutting out the squares, 22:09 that was good. Well great. Thank you so much, and 22:12 let me ask you this, do you share Jesus 22:14 everywhere you go? I try to. 22:15 Yes and you know why? I know you do, 'cause 22:17 you've got a beautiful smile Sarah and you 22:19 know how Miss Brenda loves smiles. Well, we 22:22 have some kids here that I would like read some 22:24 letters from and we have a picture and let's see, can 22:27 you hold this picture for me Sarah. And this one is 22:30 from Greenview, California. Let's see what, 22:33 who is writing from Greenview, California. 22:36 he says, dear Miss Brenda how are you? We are 22:39 three brothers, our names are Shane, Brendan, and 22:42 Quinn. He says, every month we go to Mrs. 22:44 Savage's house for the children's hour and we 22:47 watch Kids Time. It's our favorite thing to do and 22:49 we love cooking time and nature time. We belong to 22:53 the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day 22:55 Saints, and last year in March we got a puppy 22:58 and named it Honey. Said, she's a golden lab 23:00 mix and sometimes she is bad when she chases the 23:02 chickens. We go to school at our home and 23:06 our mom is our teacher. Thank you for Kids Time. 23:08 We sure like it a lot your friends Shane, Brendan, 23:11 and Quinn. Well, thank you so much, and you 23:13 know what? I am going to send you some Bible 23:14 studies and when you're all through with those 23:17 Bible studies, guess what Miss Brenda's going to 23:18 send you. I am going to send you this wonderful 23:21 Kids Time Bible right here, okay. When you 23:23 finish all those lessons so, so look for them in the 23:26 mail soon. Okay, alright, lets see I 23:28 have another letter here, and this letter is, I don't 23:32 know where it's from? There is no outside 23:33 address. Lets see, that reminds me boys and 23:36 girls, I want to tell you that, that many of you 23:39 have written to me, but you haven't given me a 23:41 complete address so I am not able to respond you, 23:43 so if you haven't heard back from me I need you 23:45 to write to me again because Miss Brenda 23:47 answers every letter, but I can't answer if I don't 23:50 have a good address, okay. It says, dear Miss 23:53 Brenda, how are you doing? I hope you're 23:54 doing fine. Oh! This is from St. Lucia in the 23:57 West Indies. It says, I've got to tell you that the 24:00 Bible lesson you've been sending me are really 24:03 inspiring me. It says, and I am looking forward to 24:14 getting the Bible. Anyway, keep on doing a 24:16 good job. I sure love 3ABN. God bless you. 24:20 Yours truly, Annia Rejus and it might be Anya or 24:26 Annia. I'm not sure which but anyway she is 24:29 from West Indies and I'm so glad you are excited 24:31 about those Bible studies because they are good 24:33 Bible studies and you're gonna learn more about 24:35 Jesus that's for sure. And this one says, 24:46 dear Miss Brenda. My name is Eliza and I am, It 24:52 says, I'm 10 years old. This is written in 24:54 metallics, so it's kind of hard to read, it says, 24:57 and it says, I read every day about God and I like to 25:01 read the Bible.
