00:03 It's time to share, there's a world out there looking
00:07 for a friend like Jesus. it's time to share, there's 00:12 world out there. Let's tell them that He loves us so, 00:16 let's tell them that He loves us so. Kid's Time, 00:22 Kid's Time, Kid's Time. 00:25 Hi, boys and girls, I'd like you to imagine for a moment 00:27 what Jesus was really like when He was here on earth. 00:31 Now, some people think that Jesus was stern and serious, 00:34 and others think He had a real sense of humor and He 00:37 just smiled all the time. Others think He always 00:40 talked in low expressionless tones. You know, He is often 00:44 portrayed that way in movies, isn't He? Almost as 00:46 if He really wasn't human at all; but the bible does tell 00:49 us that Jesus was both fully God and fully human. 00:53 Now, that is a real mystery isn't it? 00:56 And I won't even try to explain it to you. But I 00:59 will tell you why it's comforting to me. It is 01:02 comforting to me because it means that my Jesus had 01:06 feelings like I do. He felt joy, and sadness, and 01:10 amusement, frustration, and even anger. 01:13 And why shouldn't He? After all, He created me in his 01:16 own image including all my feelings. 01:18 Well, in today's bible story you'll hear about a time 01:21 when Jesus showed anger and frustration. He even chased 01:25 some people out of a temple with a whip. Sort of like 01:28 this one. Do you know what? Jesus made His own whip. 01:31 But, Miss Brenda, I'm not pretending this is one like 01:34 Jesus used. But look very closely and you can see I've 01:37 braided me a handle and a whip and I put leather 01:39 together and look at this. I braided it and I've got some 01:42 strings right here. Let's see if this sounds like a 01:44 real whip, shall we? Let me just go like this. Round. 01:47 Wow! Sounds kind of strange, doesn't it? 01:50 But, you know what, if you listen to the 01:54 bible story today, you're going to realize that Jesus 01:56 was angry for all the right reasons and not for selfish 02:00 ones. But, right now, let's visit 02:02 Nature Dan in the garden. 02:10 Welcome, boys and girls, to my garden. Well today in our 02:14 garden I want to talk about something kind of really 02:16 neat. In fact, if you notice in my garden, Nature Dan's 02:20 garden, has got a lot of fences going up all over the 02:22 place. Any idea why those fences are there? 02:26 So deer... 02:27 Yea, so animals can't get in, 02:29 but there's another reason. 02:31 Rabbits? 02:32 Well, rabbits true, but... 02:34 Things climb up it? 02:35 Things can climb up it, that's exactly right. 02:37 In fact we have different... 02:39 Squirrels? 02:40 Well, squirrels, we try to keep those out of the 02:42 garden. But these plants that we have, like we've got 02:44 some cucumbers right here that are going to grow up 02:46 onto those fences. And they're going to be there 02:48 perfect so the cucumbers will hang down and they 02:50 won't be laying in the mud so much. And I've got some 02:53 plants over here, some green beans that are growing up in 02:56 there as well. So we've got all kinds of plants that are 02:59 in the garden here that are going to grow. In fact 03:02 there's one that I call a weed, it is a real problem. 03:05 And, sir, would you go ahead and find me one? I think we 03:08 can find one right there growing. Oh, you are a very 03:12 good observer. That is exactly right. We have 03:16 morning glory, and our morning glory is a pretty 03:19 flower. But, it is a real problem. It grows up over 03:23 everything. And, before you know it, I've got nothing 03:26 but morning glories like in my garden. So I gotta be 03:29 very careful to make sure I get them all pulled up. 03:32 That's right. And my little helpers here have been 03:34 helping me this morning by pulling up morning glory 03:37 seeds. Now, the way that they climb up on these 03:39 things, they send out this little tendril, it's kinda 03:42 like a finger. They got this one big finger and they goes 03:44 whooo and it wraps around and it hits something and 03:47 goes, "Woah, I like that. " and it whoop, like that and 03:50 holds on tight. And then it starts growing up again and 03:53 it sends out another little finger and whoop holds on 03:56 tight. And it just goes on up and goes whoop and holds 04:00 on tight. And it keeps going up and up and up. So these 04:03 things are going to go right up and if you came back here 04:06 in a couple of months, you know what? You wouldn't see 04:09 many fences here. You'd see nothing but plants. Woah, it 04:14 is so cool. Boys and girls, I want to encourage you 04:17 every day to sow the seeds of God's love. 04:29 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on 04:33 a hill cannot be hidden, nor do they light a lamp and put 04:37 it under a basket. But on a lamp stand it gives light to 04:41 all who are in the house. 04:43 Let your light so shine before men that they may see 04:47 your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven. " 04:51 Matthew 5:14-16 05:00 Love puts a little light in my heart today. He put a 05:08 little light when He came to stay. He flipped the switch 05:13 He turned it on. Now I can say that I'm one of His 05:20 own. Well, are you an ember, just barely a glow? 05:27 Or are you a candle all melted and low? 05:33 No, I am a beacon all shiny and bright telling the 05:40 world that Jesus is my guiding light. 05:44 He causes me to smile so His love will show. There's 05:51 sparkle in my eyes and my face aglow. I know I'm His 05:58 and He is mine, now I can say with my little light shine. 06:06 Well, are you an ember, just barely a glow? 06:12 Or are you a candle all melted and low? 06:17 No, I am a beacon all shiny and bright telling the world 06:25 Jesus is my guiding light. 06:29 I'm gonna let it shine, I'm gonna let it shine. I'm 06:35 gonna let the whole world know that Jesus is mine. 06:51 Welcome to learning time. 06:53 I'm glad you've joined us today and we've got 06:55 something special to show you. And, in fact, I've got 06:57 a special helper. Joshua, thanks for helping me today. 07:00 You're welcome. 07:02 Do you like experiments? 07:03 Yes. 07:04 Well, it looks like we got an experiment here today. 07:06 Now, can you see air? 07:08 No. 07:09 No, can you see air? 07:11 No. 07:12 Well, how come? There's a whole lot of air in here, 07:15 but we can't see it. We can't see it because of why, Joshua? 07:17 Ahh, I don't know. 07:19 It's transparent, isn't it? 07:20 And we see right through it. Well, today we're going to 07:23 figure out something kind of very interesting. And, we're 07:25 going to set up an experiment. This looks like 07:27 something that you could make at home. Now you could 07:29 take a yardstick or a meter stick and put a hole right 07:31 in the center of it. And then we have two balloons 07:35 right here. Now, if we balance this out just right 07:38 the balloons just kind of balance each other and they 07:41 weigh about the same, don't they? Both of them weigh 07:44 pretty much the same. Now, we are going to have Joshua 07:47 put some of his air - can you blow balloons up? 07:50 Uh, huh. 07:51 Okay, so then just go ahead and blow this blue balloon 07:53 up, go ahead and do that. You can use two hands if you 07:56 want. He's got to put some air in there. Now, does air 07:59 have weight, is air heavy? 08:01 Well, put your hands out and lift to feel how heavy the 08:04 air is. Isn't that heavy? You can't feel it can you? 08:08 But, you know what? If we move our hands real quick 08:12 like this can you feel the air? Yea, can you feel the 08:15 air at home? We can move our hands real quick. I can feel 08:18 the air. And when we're moving fast in a vehicle of 08:22 some kind or running we can feel the air blowing in our 08:25 face and our hair. That's exactly what happens. 08:29 Air has weight. 08:31 Now, don't hyperventilate on me there. You doing okay? 08:34 You're turning a little red on me there. Well, I'll tell 08:36 you what we're gonna do, Joshua. Let me go ahead and 08:38 stop you right here. Let me put my hands here so that 08:40 the air won't come out. Hold my meter stick. Can you hold 08:43 the meter stick right there? Hold the nail so it won't 08:45 fall out. I'm gonna go ahead and tie the balloon. 08:48 Now, I'm gonna tie this balloon and we're going to 08:51 weigh Joshua's balloon, the balloon that he put air in. 08:54 we're going to compare it with another balloon right 08:57 here that doesn't have any air in it. So let's go ahead 09:00 and put this right back up here. Let's weigh this thing 09:03 out let's balance it. This makes a neat balance. 09:06 Let's hold it just about level right here. Let my 09:09 hands go annnnd, whoah, what's happening, Joshua? 09:13 The air in the balloon is... 09:17 Is it heavier? 09:19 Yea, it is. 09:21 It's heavier! You got heavy air did you know that? 09:23 Well, all the air around us, that's what you're 09:25 breathing, is the air around us, right? 09:27 Are you breathing the air around you? Oh, and that air 09:30 is heavy. It's heavy because that air in that balloon is 09:33 a lot heavier than no air in this balloon. 09:35 So air just must have weight. 09:38 You know, sometimes we can feel that weight, can't we? 09:41 How many of you ever had your ears go pop? 09:43 You ever had popping ears? 09:45 Well, sometimes when we go up in an airplane, we 09:47 go up on a real high hill, or we're going down a 09:49 mountain side, sometimes our ears pop because as we get 09:52 higher up in the air there's less air up there. You know, 09:55 there's hardly any air in outer space. 09:57 Did you know that? Yea, because astronauts can't 10:00 breathe without bringing their own air up there, 10:02 can they? No. 10:04 Well, today we found out that air does have weight. 10:07 If it wasn't for that weight, things couldn't fly 10:10 like birds and planes. Well that would be sad if a bird 10:13 couldn't fly wouldn't it? 10:15 Well the ostrich they don't mind because they 10:17 don't fly anyways. What do they do? 10:19 They just run real fast, don't they? 10:22 Well, God made that air very special for you and I. And 10:24 He made it to have weight and you know what? He knows 10:26 best, doesn't He? That's a wonderful blessing that we 10:29 can breathe air. He wants to give us the very breath of 10:33 life and that's the best thing that we can ever get. 10:36 Hey, every time we learn something new about science, 10:39 you know what we learn? We learn about our Creator, 10:40 and that's God. 10:51 You like that? Isn't it beautiful? 10:53 Oh, yes, it's gorgeous! 10:55 And you know what? It looks gorgeous on you. 10:58 I think I had you in mind when I made it. 11:00 I love it, I love it. 11:02 Well, you know, you can take that with you for 11:03 15 shekels. How about that? 11:06 How about 12? 11:07 Twelve? You know what? I think I had this one in 11:10 mind for you when I made it for 12. 11:13 No, no, no, I'll take this. 11:15 For fifteen? 11:16 Yes, I'll take this. 11:18 Fifteen it is. Take care. 11:20 Thank you. 11:21 Hey, honey. 11:23 I tell you, Josie, it's been...how you doing? It has 11:27 just been a busy day over here. I just been weaving 11:33 and weaving and weaving, 11:34 You're leaving? 11:36 No, I just been weaving, where is your mind? 11:39 You know, I just don't know what to do with you. 11:42 Can I have an apple? 11:44 You want an apple? Just go over there and see the fruit 11:47 guy and you can get you an apple. You know, I just 11:50 don't even know what to do with myself. Girl, I tell 11:52 you, I been so busy. I just bought this new dress. 11:54 Do you like that? And I got 11:56 the pretty hairpiece to go with it. 11:58 You said you got some bread? 12:00 No, I bought the new dre... what is wrong with you? 12:04 I went to the temple this morning. And you can't 12:08 believe it! It was just like - I went to Priest Judah and 12:12 he told me, I was just getting a couple turtle 12:14 doves, you know, and he charged me twice the amount. 12:19 See, that is exactly why I didn't go to the temple this 12:22 morning. Because I am not gonna be there and let them 12:24 just cheat me out of my money. They don't do the 12:27 same for themselves. I'm not gonna do it, I won't go. 12:30 That was how I was feeling 12:32 until I saw Jesus come in. you know Jesus. 12:37 Jesus come in? 12:38 Yes, I saw Him come in the temple with his disciples. 12:41 And what happened? 12:43 Oh you shoulda seen the look on His face. He looked at 12:46 everything and I mean to tell you I saw - was it 12:51 anger? Was it - I can't describe it, but all I know 12:57 is He leaned over. He picked up a whip, like this, and he 13:02 held it up and here were the moneychangers and they were 13:05 just talking loud. This is 13:06 God's house we're talking about. 13:08 Oh, my goodness. 13:10 They were selling and buying, there were sheep 13:12 that were making their little noises and there were 13:15 cows and there were just all kinds of - there were goats 13:17 - all kinds of animals there. And there was so much 13:20 noise and confusion I couldn't hear. And Jesus 13:23 took that piece of rope and he stood up tall like a 13:26 king, I've never seen anything like it. And all at 13:29 once He said, "Take these things hence. " and He 13:34 brought down his whip and... 13:36 Are you serious? 13:38 I'm serious and the money cha - people that were 13:40 taking the money they just jumped up and they went, 13:42 "Oohhh, whoah!" 13:44 Well, you know what? I hate to be the one to say it, but 13:46 they got what they deserved. 13:48 Well you shoulda saw the priests and rulers! They 13:51 took one look at Jesus and they started running out of 13:54 the temple. I tell you out of the temple. 13:56 I wish I would have been there to see it, you know 13:58 what? They had it coming, they had it coming. 14:01 Well, you know some of them weren't listening so much 14:03 and you know what they did? Jesus came over and He took 14:06 their table and He dumped it on the floor! 14:08 Oh, my goodness! 14:09 And he said, "You have made my house a den of thieves. " 14:13 and He kept tipping over all the money tables and money 14:16 was rolling everywhere. People were like, the 14:19 moneychangers, were running out the - the priests and 14:23 rulers were running as fast as they could. I can't even 14:25 tell you the commotion. If you could have seen what 14:29 it's usually like, and you know how bad it is, you 14:31 can't even hear yourself think. 14:33 I know how bad it is. 14:34 And then all were gone. There was no more buying; there was no 14:40 more selling. The priests and rulers were gone and 14:45 Jesus stood in the midst of all of it. And little by 14:49 little, the little children came running towards Him. 14:55 They weren't afraid of Him. Here the people that the 14:58 merchants were running as fast as they could to get 15:01 away from Jesus and the little children were running 15:05 towards Jesus. And He sat down and they sat in His lap. 15:09 You remember little Anna and how she's always 15:12 been so crippled? 15:13 Little bitty Anna? 15:14 Yes, and she's been so crippled, right from birth. 15:18 Well, Jesus picked her up and touched her legs and set 15:21 her down and she went running. 15:23 Little bitty Anna?! 15:25 That's right, and there was a little blind girl and she 15:27 couldn't see and Jesus went over and touched her eyes. 15:29 No way! 15:31 And all at once she could see. And she, the little 15:34 girl, was just laughing and thanking Jesus and she put 15:37 her arms around Jesus and she just hugged Him so 15:40 tight, just like that. I mean it was a miracle! I 15:43 saw, you know that little boy John who couldn't speak? 15:47 Wait a minute. Rosa's baby John? Okay! 15:50 Yes, who could not speak? 15:52 Yea. 15:53 Hasn't been able to utter a word since ... 15:55 Since the day he was born. 15:57 That's right and he's about five or six now. 15:59 Jesus touched his mouth and he started singing. Singing 16:01 the songs that his mother had been singing to him. He 16:04 started singing Hosanna, Hosanna and he was singing 16:07 and singing and all the kids started singing. And Jesus 16:11 took them on His lap and they began to praise Him. 16:14 And I looked out, I was standing there, and I was 16:17 just kind of huddled around and I looked up out of the 16:19 corner of my eye and there was some of the priests and 16:22 rulers coming back. And you know, all these kids that 16:24 could walk now and they 16:26 could talk and they could see... 16:28 Thank God. 16:31 Oh, they weren't they were standing there like this. 16:34 And they were so angry. They were so mad because Jesus 16:37 had helped. You know, we have needed help for so long 16:41 and they don't care about us. 16:43 They should, that is right. 16:45 They don't want to help us. they don't want to anything. 16:48 But there was nothing they could do, because the 16:50 praises of the children were so loud that it filled the 16:53 whole temple. And you know, I walked past Priest Judah 16:56 and he just looked at me out of the corner of his eye. 16:59 And I could tell that he was pretty upset. And I just 17:03 kind of chuckled to myself and I just said, Hallelujah. 17:08 You know, Josie, I'm not the one to gossip, but he got 17:11 what he deserved. I tell you that right now, because he's 17:14 been stealing and stealing, but you know what? I just 17:16 praise God that Jesus came and showed up and just 17:19 worked miracles in there. All those priests got 17:22 exactly what they deserve. Amen. 17:25 Well, you know, as I watched this Jesus I thought I want 17:28 to get to know this Jesus more. 17:30 I want to know what it is about Him that has such 17:34 tender care for the poor. 17:36 Well, you know what? I want to get over there and sell 17:39 something. So you weave some of these baskets, girl. And 17:41 you help me get this done quickly so... 17:43 Then you'll go with me? 17:45 I'm goin' with you I have to see this for myself. 17:47 Would you like to go with us? Okay sweetie. 17:49 Well honey, you can weave you a basket too. 17:51 Well, all right I'll help you and we'll go see Jesus, 17:53 I have got to learn more about Jesus. 17:55 I want to be like Jesus. 17:58 Me too. 19:45 It's time for Miss Brenda's book of the day! And, boys and 19:50 girls, what a wonderful book I have for you today. It's 19:53 called ELLEN WHITE: FRIEND OF ANGELS and it's by Paul B. 19:55 Ricchiuti. And it says, "In FRIEND OF ANGELS 19:59 author and historian Paul Ricchiuti presents Ellen White 20:03 as a real human being. One who got sick, had pain, cried, 20:06 laughed, and had close friends and bitter enemies. Yet, she 20:10 was loving, kind, thoughtful, and dedicated to her work. 20:13 Instead of concentrating on what Ellen White did, Paul 20:17 Ricchiuti seeks to show us who she was. And drawing from 20:21 little known stories about her adventures, travels, and 20:24 relationships, the personality and character of this amazing 20:27 woman emerges with warmth and humor. " and here it is, 20:32 FRIEND OF ANGELS 20:34 Doesn't that sound like a good book, boys and girls, by 20:36 Paul B. Ricchiuti. 20:38 Well, I have so many letters to read from you 20:40 boys and girls and I just love getting all your letters and 20:43 your cards and you pictures. And today, I have a letter 20:46 right here I was just reading from Australia. And it is from 20:50 Jaden. And, you know what I thought? Instead of reading 20:54 his letter let's just get him on the phone shall we? Let's 20:56 see if he's there. Hi, Jaden? 20:58 Hello. 21:00 Hi, Jaden, this is Miss Brenda, how are you? 21:02 I'm good. 21:04 What time is it there in Australia? 21:06 It's six o clock. 21:08 In the morning? 21:10 Yep. 21:11 Did you just wake up to talk to Miss Brenda? 21:14 Uh, huh. 21:15 Well, I'm so excited to talk to you because you write to 21:17 Miss Brenda quite a bit, don't you? 21:19 Yea. 21:20 And I love your emails and love your letters. And you 21:22 sent me a picture of a sheep actually. And I've got a 21:26 picture of you with you riding the sheep. 21:30 Yea. 21:31 And it is so cute. 21:33 Can you tell me, Jaden, what do you to share Jesus? 21:37 Well, when we were working for our landlord this year, 21:41 he wanted us to work on Sabbath but we wouldn't and 21:46 then he wanted us to work in the packing shed where there 21:50 the wool is dyeing and we wouldn't do that either. 21:54 Oh, and why is it that you wouldn't do that? 21:59 Because that would be 22:01 breaking Jesus' commandments. 22:04 That's right and I was so glad that you brought that 22:07 out. That was what Miss Brenda was wanting you to 22:09 say because it s important to keep 22:11 God's commandments isn't' it? 22:13 Uh, huh. 22:15 What else do you do to share Jesus? 22:18 Sometimes we go to letter boxing. And when we're 22:21 living in our other place, we were going letter boxing 22:24 and there's this lady, she had no junk mail, and we 22:28 asked if we could put some in. She was just at her 22:32 letter box at the time and she goes, "Yes, you can put 22:36 some in any time you want. I love it. " 22:41 Ohhh, that's precious. Well, you know what, Jaden? I want 22:44 to tell you it was such a pleasure to talk to you. 22:46 Miss Brenda loves you and I appreciate your letters and 22:49 your cards and your emails. And you just keep writing to 22:52 Miss Brenda, okay? 22:54 Yup. 22:55 You know what I really want to encourage you to do? 22:58 I want to encourage you to keep sharing Jesus every 23:00 single day. Can you do that? 23:02 Yup. 23:03 All right. Bye, Jaden, thank you. 23:06 Bye. 23:07 Oh, that was sweet, wasn't it, boys and girls? 23:11 Okay I have a letter here. Let's see, this one is from 23:14 looks like Louisiana. I'm guessing, yes that's where 23:18 it's from. And I've got a picture. Here's your 23:21 picture. It says, "Dear Miss Brenda. My name is Hannah. I 23:24 am three years old and I have a big sister Tatiana 23:27 and another big sister and brother who are fourteen. 23:30 My grandma Margie is writing this for me. 23:34 I would like to join the Kid's Club, please. 23:36 My Mom and Daddy are in the army and not long ago they 23:40 were both in Baghdad where the fighting is going on. 23:43 My aunt Barbara came to Germany and stayed with us 23:46 while Mom and Daddy were gone. 23:48 We really missed our parents very much. My grandma is 23:52 sending a picture and I just wanted you to know how much 23:55 I love Jesus. My Mommy and Daddy, would you please pray 24:00 for them? They need lots of prayer. And thank you so 24:03 much for the Kid's Club. Love, Hannah and Tatiana. " 24:07 Well thank you so much and I'm sorry your parents are 24:09 away.
