00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:06 Looking for a friend like Jesus.
00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there;
00:13 let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:20 Kids time, kids time, kids time, kids time.
00:25 Umm, this is 95, no that doesn't look great.
00:28 Oh, I think it's 84 to 90 to 290, oh that's it.
00:33 Oh, hi there, boys and girls. I am just setting
00:36 and planning our next vacation,
00:37 my husband and I are thinking about
00:39 driving to Boston to visit our daughters
00:41 Becky and Linda Kay. We want to make sure
00:43 we plan our trip really well because you know what
00:45 I hate getting lost. Let's see we will need
00:48 an independent route but we will also need
00:51 to make hotel reservations because that's a long trip
00:54 and we aren't gonna make it all in one day.
00:56 And oh yes, we need to call our daughters
00:59 and let them know we are coming so they can plan ahead.
01:01 I am sure we would want to get there.
01:02 I miss seeing them. You know this sort
01:05 of reminds me of a trip to a Abraham,
01:06 took a long time ago. Only it wasn't a vacation.
01:09 In fact, when he left, he wasn't even sure
01:12 where he would end up. Wouldn't it be a little bit
01:14 scary to leave on a trip and not have any idea
01:17 where you were going? But, God had come to Abraham
01:20 and he had told him to take a journey
01:22 with his son Isaac. Now God promised to show
01:25 Abraham exactly where to go and he also told
01:28 Abraham what he must do when he got there.
01:30 Now, Abraham didn't really want to make this journey,
01:33 but he made it anyway because Abraham loved God
01:36 so much and he wanted to do exactly what God
01:39 had told them to do. And today Abraham's journey
01:42 is one of the most famous journeys ever.
01:45 I am so glad Abraham made that journey.
01:48 You will find out why when you hear
01:50 our Bible story today. In the meantime now,
01:53 let's see what Ranger Jim's travels have taken him.
01:55 He always has something interesting to share with us.
02:06 Hi, boys and girls Ranger Jim saying welcome
02:08 to Nature Time. We are glad you can join us today.
02:10 We are at Knoxville, Tennessee at a Knoxville zoo.
02:12 Look what we have here? We have lots of friends.
02:14 We have Stephanie and Jenna and they have some birds.
02:17 Tell us about these creatures?
02:19 Alright, this is Einstein, she is a Congo
02:21 African gray parrot and she brought her friend Ariel,
02:25 he is an umbrella cockatoo and they are both here
02:28 at the bird show. Can you say them, hi? Hello.
02:30 That's sweet, but can you be polite?
02:32 Hi, sweetheart. Oh, that's very nice Einstein.
02:35 Maybe Ariel can say hi to everybody.
02:37 Say hello? Hello.
02:38 Good girl. Now Einstein knows lots and lots of sounds
02:43 because these birds can mimic hundreds
02:45 and hundreds of sounds. So, since she lives here
02:48 at the Knoxville zoo, she knows lots of animals.
02:50 Oh, the bird, says, mimics the animal?
02:53 That's right. It sounds crazy, doesn't it?
02:56 Umm. Well, let's see if she will do some of them for us.
02:58 Can you do a cat, cat? Meow.
03:00 That's pretty good. Can you do a big cat
03:03 that was in the jungle? Gurrr.
03:04 There you go. Kind of growls like a tiger. Umm.
03:07 How about a wolf? Oohoo. Good job, can you do an owl?
03:11 Ooo. How about a rooster? Aha, aha.
03:14 Can you be a regular bird, how about a bird? Bird?
03:18 Cheew, cheew. There you go.
03:22 This one is very cute. How about chimpanzee, chimpanzee?
03:25 Uh, uh, aha, aha. How about that pig?
03:27 Quin, quin. Yeah, that's what a pig sounds like.
03:32 Now, where as she knows about 65 different sounds on queue,
03:35 little Ariel over here only knows a couple of sounds.
03:38 Not every bird will learn to mimic all kinds of sounds.
03:41 Some just like to learn one or two things.
03:44 So, may be Ariel can do a few of her little sounds for us.
03:48 You wan to say hello. Hello. Say hello, hi.
03:53 Hello. Hello, do you want to wave hi? Alright.
03:57 Aha, cheers. Are you excited? Are you excited? Excited?
04:01 Oh, wow. There, she is excited to hear says Einstein.
04:06 She is excited to be on television, excited right,
04:07 as we are showing the boys and girls.
04:09 Are you excited? Ooh. She surely is. Yeah.
04:12 She really likes to dance too.
04:14 Oh, she is a party girl then!
04:15 She is. Alright. Let's see,
04:17 do you like to go with the fiesta? Yeah.
04:20 Oh, yeah. Let's see if she will do some dancing
04:23 for us today. Oh, she has got that little head bald move.
04:26 Can you do a little singing with it?
04:28 Pam pao, pam pao... Pam pao, pam pao...
04:34 Alright, Einstein! Great. Now she likes to sing
04:37 and dance but she can also sing some tunes for us too.
04:41 Alright, we have a musical bird.
04:42 We sure do. She can sing happy birthday.
04:46 Let's sing happy birthday. Let's see it she will do it.
04:48 Now, I have to kind of queue her to do this way.
04:51 Can you sing happy birthday? It's getting ready.
04:55 Happy birthday to you. Again. Happy birthday to you. Again.
05:01 Happy birth to you. There you finish.
05:05 Happy birthday to you. Good job Einstein.
05:10 Very good. That was a manly voice too.
05:11 Wonderful and she had that male solo down.
05:15 That's right. These birds have a unique trachea
05:18 from other parrots that allows them to mimic
05:21 the exact pitch of the sound that they hear.
05:24 I have never heard like that before.
05:25 I have heard them just speak in a monotone like commenter.
05:28 That's right. Let's do some more sounds
05:30 that she can do. She does sounds
05:32 that I can't even make like water, can you do water?
05:35 Qrick. Good, how about a knock at the door?
05:38 Tuk, tuk. Good job. Wonderful. How about the spaceship?
05:44 Gurrrr. It's pretty cute. Wonderful.
05:50 Well, you know she knows that she is pretty famous.
05:52 Are you famous? Superstar.
05:54 Yeah, she says she is a superstar.
05:56 She is a superstar. Okay and so there are shows
05:59 here at the zoo that we have each day. That's right.
06:02 You have a regular time and that's what
06:03 we have so many boys and girls on filed trips
06:05 and what they come and so these birds are performing
06:08 and this one I can tell you is a ham somewhat right?
06:11 She is. She loves to perform. She loves to perform.
06:13 What are you, what are you? Bad bird.
06:15 Bad bird, she says. Bad bird, that is for sure.
06:18 Bad bird for sure. Boys and girls don't forget
06:21 to tell Jesus that you love him
06:22 because he really does love you.
06:32 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth,
06:35 hast thou not known, hast thou not heard,
06:37 that the Lord, the everlasting God,
06:39 the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not,
06:42 and neither is weary? Even the youths shall faint
06:44 and be weary, but they that wait upon the Lord
06:47 shall renew their strength; they shall mount up
06:49 with wings as eagles; they shall run,
06:51 and not be weary; and they shall walk,
06:53 and not faint. Ecclesiastes 12:1
06:56 and Isaiah 20, verse 28, 30 and 31.
07:06 Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
07:13 To God the creator triumphantly raise.
07:19 Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,
07:25 Who still guides us on to the end of our days.
07:31 God's banners are o'er us, His light goes before us,
07:38 A pillar of fire shining forth in the night.
07:45 Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished
07:51 As forward we travel from light into light.
07:59 His law he enforces, the stars in their courses
08:05 And sun in its orbit obediently shine;
08:11 The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,
08:18 The deeps of the ocean proclaim him divine.
08:25 We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing;
08:31 With glad adoration a Song let us raise
08:38 Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving:
08:45 "To God in the highest, Hosanna and praise!"
09:02 Welcome to learning time.
09:03 Thanks for coming with us today.
09:06 We have got an interesting thing.
09:08 Have you ever saw pictures of astronauts in space?
09:13 Have you ever thought saw, these astronauts in space?
09:15 Yeah. Yeah, let me ask you a question,
09:18 do you think there is weight in space? Yeah.
09:22 Do the astronauts, do they have weight in space? No.
09:25 Well, you know we see pictures of astronauts
09:28 and when we see pictures, we knew what they are doing.
09:30 If they are up in the space lab or if they are up
09:32 in the space shuttle of the orbiter, they are just
09:35 kind of floating around. Christian,
09:36 have ever seen pictures of astronauts
09:38 just kind of floating in space, have you? Yes.
09:40 Oh, yeah. Well, the question for you today
09:43 is this. Is there weight in space?
09:46 Or our astronauts, people that travel in space
09:49 are they weightless or do they weigh the same in space?
09:54 Well, we are going to find out. First of all,
09:56 we have got this world right here
09:58 and this is where we live. We are in North America
10:00 right about there. Oh, man we are just over right here
10:04 and we live on planet earth and planet earth
10:06 is traveling in space. But you know,
10:08 astronauts are in space, they are flying over planet earth
10:13 and they are falling all the time.
10:15 Have you ever gone to six flags or some kind
10:18 of an exciting experiment park and amusement park
10:22 and we are on those rise that go up and just kind
10:25 of let you down. Have ever done that Christian?
10:27 No, it's pretty exciting isn't it? When we do that
10:30 we don't have any weight. We are weightless
10:33 at that point. Well, we are going to do
10:35 our experiment with Christian. Let's put our world
10:38 over here and Tim, my assistant we are going to lift
10:41 Christian up. We are going to send him in the space.
10:43 We are going to put him right on this scale
10:45 and we are going to weigh him today.
10:46 We are going to find out how much he weighs.
10:49 Are you ready Christian? Yes.
10:50 Alright, let's go. We are going to pick him up
10:51 and oh, he flies right up here.
10:54 Now, we have weighed him, and let's see,
10:57 Christian how much do you weigh? 67.
10:59 Oh, about what? Inch.
11:01 Okay, about 68 pounds. We are going to tape him
11:05 to the scale today. Now when you weigh
11:07 yourself at home, you don't tape yourself
11:09 to the scale, do you? No. Oh, man. I hope not that
11:13 would be kind of messy. So, we are going to take
11:15 Christian on the scale, because you know what
11:17 we are going to do? We are going to send him
11:18 off in the space and he is going to flying.
11:21 He is going to be dropping. We are going to drop him
11:23 right off the table, right on to the floor.
11:25 Will that be exciting? Yes. Oh, absolutely
11:29 that will be exciting. Now, Christian he says
11:32 that he weighs about how much? 67. About 67 pounds.
11:37 Now Tim, Tim is going to watch this scale,
11:39 can you see the scale, okay Tim?
11:41 Yes, I can see that scale. Alright, we are going to
11:43 lift him up and then we are going to just drop him
11:45 down to the floor and we are going to find out
11:47 how much he weighs as he is traveling in space.
11:51 Christian are you ready? Yes. Tim, are you ready?
11:54 I am ready, let's do it. Alright, here we go.
11:55 Let's give us 3, 2, 1. We are going to blast him down,
11:58 you ready? Let's go, 3, 2, 1. 3, 2, 1.
12:02 And we are going to blast him right down, and boh.
12:05 Christian as you were falling down how much
12:07 did you weighed? Zero.
12:08 Christian weighed zero! Now, isn't that interesting?
12:12 Did you, what did you see Tim?
12:13 He weighed zero. Christian weighed zero
12:16 as he was falling in space. Do you know that
12:20 as our astronauts are going over planet earth,
12:23 they are falling over planet earth
12:24 and we call that weightlessness,
12:27 but they still have the same weight
12:29 it's just that you can't measure it because the weight
12:32 and the scale is falling at the same time.
12:35 You know every time we are learn about science,
12:39 we are learning something new about our creator God.
13:01 Very nice. I am very happy to see you.
13:09 Thank you very much. Very talented, very talented.
13:24 You got some coins. Oh, how much is this?
13:40 This way. How are you? Fine, how are you? How much is this?
13:47 Good, good. Abraham. George.
13:56 Good to see you both. How is Isaac doing?
14:01 Oh, he is doing fine, but I have got to tell you
14:04 about the worst day in my life
14:06 and the greatest day in my life.
14:09 On the same day! The same day!
14:12 Wow! What happened? Why is it every time
14:16 I am sitting out in front of my tent something happens?
14:20 Yeah. You told us about the story last time,
14:24 exactly, when you were sitting front of tent.
14:26 You guys, yes. Exactly, this time
14:27 I am out there having my morning devotions.
14:30 I am praying to my God and God talks back.
14:35 Sure. He said, Abraham take your son,
14:41 your only son that you love... Isaac?
14:47 Yes, and offer him as a sacrifice. A sacrifice?
14:53 I couldn't believe my ears.
14:54 I said God could you repeat that please. Yeah.
14:58 I wouldn't believe my ears if I hear like that.
15:01 Oh, the next morning I got up, I didn't even tell Sarah.
15:06 No. I took two servants,
15:08 a donkey, some firewood, some bread
15:14 and we just started walking. God said He would tell me
15:18 when I got to the spot He wanted me to be at.
15:21 You didn't know where you were going?
15:23 No, for three days I walked. Isaac walked with me.
15:29 Finally, God said this is the spot.
15:34 I told the servants to wait here.
15:38 I took Isaac with me, I took the wood,
15:41 we started walking up the mountain.
15:44 Was he, Isaac, I mean, you know.
15:46 Was he scared? Was he? No. Yeah.
15:48 Oh, he is such a fine Son, but we got half way
15:51 of the mountain, he said father we have got the wood,
15:55 we have got the fire, where is the sacrifice? Yeah.
15:59 Oh, he didn't know? No, he didn't and that
16:02 young fellow could have pushed over his old father
16:05 and ran away, but here is what I said to him,
16:09 the Lord will provide, He always does you know?
16:15 Yeah. Yeah, He does and you believed
16:17 that God would do it? I did, but I oh, I got up
16:22 to the alter I tied Isaac's hands, my...
16:28 And he didn't fright at all? No, my hands were shaking.
16:29 He helped me tie his own hands. I laid him on the alter,
16:38 took out my knife, I was about to put the knife
16:46 into my son, How could you do that?
16:50 The angel said Abraham, I stopped. Don't do it.
16:56 I know that you love me and trust me. I put down.
17:01 Praise the Lord. I put down the knife,
17:05 I was crying, Isaac was crying and looked over the side
17:10 there was a lamb caught in the bushes. Oh.
17:12 The Lord provided. He always provides.
17:15 Just like He said he would. That's what He says.
17:18 It's the best day in my life, the worst day
17:19 in my life. I go and get the lamb,
17:21 we present the sacrifice, what a time of worship
17:26 we had. My son was about to be taken from me
17:31 and the Lord returns Him. Praise the Lord.
17:36 What a story? He always has great story.
17:39 I know. God always will have a good ending for us.
17:44 We must continue to walk by faith
17:49 and I have got a walk through the village, Bye, bye.
17:53 Take care. Oh, it's always good
17:54 to see you Abraham. Good to see you.
17:56 Yeah, bye, bye. Bye.
18:15 My daddy told me something A little push it know
18:21 And it's all about the devil And I learned to hate him so
18:29 He said he causes trouble If you let him in the room
18:36 But he will never ever leave you if your heart
18:40 is filled with glooms. So let the sun shine in
18:48 Face it with a grin Smilers never lose
18:54 And frowners never win So let the sunshine in
19:01 Face it with a grin Open up your heart
19:08 and let the sun shine in Open up your heart
19:15 and let the sun shine in.
19:28 Hi, boys and girls I am here with my friends,
19:30 Grace and Gloria and they are going to help me
19:33 introduce the book of the day.
19:37 Yes, and this is A Song for Grandfather,
19:40 An Adventist Girl Story, book one by Jean Boonstra.
19:45 Let me just share a little bit with you.
19:46 It says, Sarah Bonds is an eight-year-old
19:48 who lives on a New Hampshire farm with her mom
19:50 and Pa and little sisters Cady and baby Emily
19:52 and it is the year 1842. Sarah is excited about
19:57 her grandparents coming for a visit.
19:59 She can't wait to see granny and especially grandfather.
20:01 She knows he will tell her wonderful stories
20:04 of his life as a sea captain, but grandfather surprises
20:08 the whole family with some startling ideas.
20:10 He heard William Miller preach from the Bible.
20:12 Jesus will be turned very soon
20:15 and the world will come to an end.
20:17 Oh, Pa is very skeptical and granny doesn't
20:20 believe it at all. After a trip to the east Kingston
20:23 camp meeting the family returns home to tragedy.
20:25 But Sarah finds comfort in knowing Jesus
20:28 will come back soon to reunite her loved ones.
20:31 Her faith and a surprise gift from the heart helps
20:34 to ease her sadness. Oh, I think you are going
20:37 to want to read this book. It's A Song For Grandfather.
20:41 Well, I am really happy today boys and girls
20:42 because I have two special friends with me
20:44 on the program but before we hear from them
20:47 I have somebody on the phone.
20:48 I have a letter I got from Courtney and she is from Nova,
20:51 Ohio and you know what she is on the phone right now.
20:54 Hi, Courtney. Hi, Miss Brenda.
20:57 Can you say hi to Grace and Gloria? Hi.
21:00 That's good, can you girls say hi to Courtney? Hi.
21:03 Hi Courtney. Oh, well, Courtney
21:05 let me ask you, you wrote a letter
21:07 and you told me you love Katie's potato chips
21:10 and says that On Cooking with Katie. Yeah.
21:14 Yeah, she did. What's your favorite part
21:16 of our Kids Time? Umm, Cooking Time.
21:21 Cooking Time with Katie, but you know she has got
21:23 a new cook book out. And so... Oh.
21:26 You want one of those cook books.
21:27 Well, it's called Cooking with Katie,
21:29 the Kids Time cook book. But I want to ask you
21:32 what do you do to share Jesus?
21:35 I help my mom give out best of the Christ books
21:41 and people usually like we give them out.
21:45 Oh, I am sure they do. Well, I want to encourage
21:48 you to keep sharing Jesus and thank you
21:50 for your letter Courtney. Okay.
21:51 Alright, bye, bye now. Bye. Bye.
21:54 That was nice letter from Courtney, wasn't it?
21:57 Yes, I know Courtney. You do? Yes.
22:02 Well, Gloria can you tell what do you do to share Jesus?
22:04 I share Jesus, by being good
22:08 By being good, well that's a good way to share Jesus.
22:10 And I share Jesus about being ... By sharing.
22:15 I share Jesus about loving people. Oh, that...
22:20 Oh, I share Jesus a fish too. You do? Yes.
22:25 Well, that's very good. To eat it.
22:27 Oh, that's very good too. To all the people.
22:32 Oh, you like the story about when Jesus fed
22:34 the fish to all the people? Yes.
22:36 Oh, I like that story too.
22:38 It's called The Feeding of the 5000.
22:39 And I got to sharing about something too,
22:46 all the people break pieces of the bread...
22:48 Aha, that's right and let me... you just recently you had...
22:52 you were in the hospital
22:54 because you burned your leg, right? Yeah.
22:57 And what did you do when you are in the hospital?
22:59 I prayed to God. You prayed to Jesus
23:03 and did Jesus help you? Yeah, I still have,
23:05 though in lines. You do. Yeah.
23:08 But you burned your leg and then you were in the
23:10 hospital for a while and... Yeah.
23:12 Let's come over here so we can see and all the
23:13 boys and girls can see you, that's good job Gloria, okay.
23:17 I am not the boy, I am a girl.
23:19 That's right, you are a girl and you are a pretty girl too.
23:23 And she is a girl too. Yes, she is, did you,
23:26 do you pray to Jesus to Gloria?
23:28 I pray to Jesus as to your grace, and old song.
23:32 And my grandma burned her, burned her hand.
23:36 She did? Yeah. And did you pray
23:39 for your grandma's hand? Yeah, I prayed for her.
23:42 Oh, and did she feel better? Yeah.
23:44 Oh, you know what Jesus is always with us
23:46 when we pray to him. He likes it to hear from us
23:48 and we should always pray to Jesus and do you just perhaps
23:51 to pray at night time, is that the only time
23:53 you can pray? Yes. Well, no. We can pray to Jesus
23:56 all day long, can't we? We can pray to Jesus
23:58 in the morning, we can pray at night
24:00 and do you thank Jesus before you eat your food.
24:03 Yeah. See, you can pray and you can thank Jesus
24:06 for your food because not everyone has food, do they?
24:08 Pray when you are eating. That's right, when is another
24:13 good time to pray? I eat. Perhaps, I make cereal.
24:16 Pray at church. I eat all my cereal.
