00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:06 looking for a friend like Jesus. It's time to share 00:11 there's a world out there. Let's tell them 00:14 that he loves us so. Let's tell them that he 00:18 loves us so. Kid's time, 00:21 kid's time, kid's time. 00:24 Hi boys and girls. I have been wondering 00:26 lately, who I really am, oh I know my name, 00:30 Brenda Walsh and I know where I live, 00:33 I know my job and I know all my family 00:38 members. I know who they are and I think I 00:41 know who my friends are, but who am I really. 00:44 Well, I guess what I am asking is what is my 00:49 character, how do I react when I think no one is 00:52 looking and how would I react if I were faced 00:55 with some terrible tragedy or loss. 00:58 Maybe loss of a home or a family member or 01:01 something else I value very deeply. 01:03 Many, many years ago, the devil challenged God 01:07 about a man who was living on this earth and it 01:10 seemed like the man was good and a loyal follower 01:14 of God, but the devil sneered. I know who that 01:18 man really is, just let me at him. 01:21 When I've had my way with him, well you will 01:24 see what he is really like. He is not a true 01:27 follower of God, well, what happened next? 01:31 You're gonna have to wait for our Bible story 01:33 today. We will discover who that man really was 01:37 and what made him that way. As you listen to the 01:40 story, ask yourself who am I and remember that 01:44 sometimes the challenges and the heart ache that 01:46 we we face, are there to reveal to us and to 01:49 others who we really are. Now lets join 01:53 Ranger Jim, he is standing by with 01:55 some intriguing animal facts. 02:05 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying 02:07 welcome to Nature Time, we're glad you could be 02:08 with us today. We're in Knoxville, Tennessee at 02:10 the Zoo and look what we have. 02:11 We've Nicky and Stephanie and they've a 02:14 special friend. Stephanie what is this 02:16 beautiful creature. This is called a barn owl 02:18 and they're called barn owls, because that's 02:20 where they like to make their home in old barns. 02:22 Okay, that's a good name if a bird lives at a barn 02:25 isn't it like that. That's right. 02:27 Living in a barn, do they like mice 02:29 They love mice; they can eat a couple mice every 02:32 day so. Yum, yum, yum. 02:34 So one owl, like this can eat of about 600 to a 02:37 1000 mice a year. Wow. 02:38 It's pretty incredible. Now Parker has some 02:42 many adaptations that help her survive and help 02:45 her hunt for those mice. If you look at her face, 02:48 she's got that white ring around her face. 02:51 It's called a facial disk and that helps draw in 02:53 the the sounds, that the little mice she hears 02:56 around the barn. Amazing. 02:57 And she can hear exactly where it is. 02:59 She can locate a mouse out there in the field, 03:02 just by the sound. That's right, 03:04 they could hear the squeak of mouse about a 03:06 football field away. Now say that again, 03:08 okay boys and girls. We have our professional 03:10 here and this bird can hear a mouse squeaking 03:13 the length of a football field. 03:15 Football field. And she could be out 03:17 there perching on a pole and out there 30, 40, 50 03:20 feet. A mouse is rustling in the grass and she 03:23 flies out and ah. Is directly on it. 03:26 Wonderful, tell us about her coloration. 03:28 Well she's got all this pretty brown colors that 03:32 helps camouflage her in the trees and also make 03:34 it very difficult to spot her. You can also see, 03:37 she's got lots of little specs there on her chest 03:39 that will go away in a couple years as she 03:43 becomes an adult. Right now she is just 03:45 two years old. Alright, does this bird 03:47 have a name? Her name is Parker. 03:49 A girl named Parker. Yes, it's pretty unusual. 03:52 We thought she was a boy that she turned out 03:54 to be a girl, so we just kept the name. 03:57 You just kept the name and you determined that 03:59 by DNA blood test. We did a blood test, 04:01 because the boys and the girls look the same, 04:04 so you can't tell just by looking at them. 04:06 Alright, how long will this creature live. 04:08 Well, most owls live about 20 years in the 04:11 wild. Alright and here what's 04:14 good veterinarian care we would expect him to 04:16 maybe live a longer than that. 04:18 They can, they can double their lifespan in 04:20 captivity. Okay, when they have 04:21 that and so this owl has a call, is it much? 04:24 We know the great horned owls, a typical 04:26 hoot, hoot, hoot. That's right, a lot of owls 04:29 do hoot, but these have a different call, they do a 04:31 screeching sound. Its kind of scary if 04:35 you should hear one in the woods. 04:36 And boys and girls, if you may notice also 04:38 we're talking about this screeching you may 04:40 notice in the background. We've other friends 04:43 inside here, we've parrots and macaws 04:45 and you may hear them screeching and calling 04:47 too and I know when our children were young. 04:51 They were out camping, they wanted to camp out 04:53 of the backyard in a tent and we had a tiny the 04:55 little screech owl like this come into the 04:57 backyard and start the sound and what 04:59 happened, the children. They were ready to come 05:01 inside, right now. Little owl about like 05:02 this, alright, okay now this owl would lay eggs 05:08 in the barn, build a nest in the barn. 05:10 If possible, they probably live also in 05:12 hollow trees as well do they or. 05:13 Oh! they prefer barns but yes they could live in a 05:16 hollow tree, if they found. But then they build and 05:19 as you lays the egg, how many eggs, 05:20 which she probably lay. Probably 3 or 4 eggs. 05:22 Umm! Okay, do both parents feed or do you 05:26 know that. The male will feed the 05:29 children, while the female helps take care. 05:32 Okay, very good, that's good for them to share 05:34 the responsibility isn't it like that, and as far 05:37 predators goes, they would have the probably 05:39 same predator be involved with them as 05:41 would be other birds that size. 05:43 That's right. That they would have that 05:45 and tragically like most birds and mammals as 05:49 well, their greatest enemy is man encroaching 05:51 on their environment. That's right. 05:53 We've that and these animals love to live in 05:56 barns, that you've said before. But how many 05:58 owl barns do we see around. 06:00 Not that many. Not that many and I 06:03 would say that in most places out in Rural 06:05 America, you find an old barn. You most likely, 06:07 you would find a barn owl like that so, 06:09 wonderful to learn about these creature boys and 06:12 girls. This is Ranger Jim saying don't forget to 06:14 tell Jesus that you love him, because 06:16 he really does love you. 06:26 Adam, do you ever have an exciting story, and 06:29 you wish you had more than one tongue. 06:30 Yes Bobby. Sometimes I wish I had a 100 tongues. 06:34 Well Charles Wesley had a friend that wish he had 06:37 1000 tongues. He name was Peter Bohler and he 06:40 inspired Mr. Wesley to write to him over a 1000 06:43 tongues to sing. You may not have a 06:46 1000 tongues, but you can use the 1 tongue 06:48 you've to praise Jesus. 06:57 "O for a thousand tongues to sing" 07:00 my great Redeemer's praise. 07:03 The glories of my God and King, 07:07 the triumphs of his grace! 07:11 My gracious Master and my God, 07:15 assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the 07:22 earth abroad the honors of thy name. 07:28 Jesus! the name that charms our fears, 07:31 that bids our sorrows cease; 07:34 'Tis music in the sinner's ears, 07:38 'Tis life, and health, and peace. 07:51 Do you like banana bread; well I love banana 07:54 bread, ever since I was little, I and Brenda used 07:56 to come over with a loaf of hot banana bread and 07:59 I'd eat it by the slice. So I created this recipe 08:02 in her honor, let me go ahead and read the 08:04 recipes for you, ingredients for you. 08:07 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of whole 08:12 wheat pastry flour, 2 tsp. of baking powder, 08:16 ½ tsp. of baking soda, ½ tsp. of salt, 08:22 ½ tsp of cinnamon, ½ cup of Pure Florida 08:28 Crystals, 6 medium very ripe bananas-mashed 08:33 and 1 tsp. of vanilla. Now it doesn't really 08:38 matter what were these ingredients go in, 08:40 it all goes in the same bowl and it all gets 08:42 mixed up. So it doesn't really 08:43 matter how you put it, just go ahead 08:44 matter how you with our flours 08:52 and this recipe is actually very healthy 08:55 for you, you know it has no eggs, no dairy and 08:58 it's very low in fat and this is the cinnamon 09:00 and the Florida sugar Crystals, our salt and 09:09 our baking powder and our baking soda, 09:14 oh yeah, and our vanilla. 09:24 Now you know, you can go ahead and stir this up 09:26 little bit, get all the dry ingredients mix together. 09:28 Oops, good. Now we're gonna add our 09:31 bananas, now these are 6 very ripe bananas. 09:34 Now its best when you make banana bread to use 09:36 really ripe bananas, just mix the flavor better and 09:39 I already have these mashed for you. 09:40 You're gonna wanna mash them up maybe 09:42 with a fork or something, get them all squished up, 09:46 get these bananas out, stir that up. 09:55 Now you remember when I ate banana bread, 09:56 I always loved it hot so. Banana bread you might 09:59 wanna try it, just out of the oven, when its best. 10:03 Nice and hot and it melts in your mouth. 10:09 Okay, get it all mixed up, you're gonna bring out a 10:15 loaf pan this, put and we're gonna spray it with 10:20 our nonstick cooking spray. 10:24 Now you can also add, it's called banana nut 10:26 bread but we don't have any nuts in it today. 10:28 But if you like nuts, you can add nuts. 10:29 Because nuts are, I like nuts in it too and you're 10:35 just gonna fill up your pan with this banana, 10:38 with this mixture, this banana bread and you're 10:43 gonna bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for one 10:46 hour or until the knife come out clean, 10:49 because that's the test you know when you wanna 10:50 put a knife in it and if a knife comes out clean, 10:53 its done but if it come out with some stuff on 10:56 it. You might wanna leave, you wanna leave 10:58 it in a little longer, because it's done that 11:00 and after you bake it. I've one, a banana bread 11:03 already baked for you, to show you. 11:04 This is what it looks like, when it's done, 11:08 delicious, banana bread is my favorite. 11:12 Looks even good enough to eat. In fact I think 11:15 I am gonna taste it now. 11:23 Delicious, I know even my Aunt Brenda would 11:25 agree that this is good. Well, until next time, 11:27 keep cooking and eat healthy. 11:39 Did you like that story? Yes. 11:40 Good, good, good. Well is it time to go 11:45 outside or do you want another story? 11:46 Another story. Another story, 11:51 how aboutif I tell you the story again about 11:53 your great, great grandfather. 11:54 My father Job, would you like to hear that? 11:58 Yes. Yes, well you remember 12:00 many years ago, it's been over a hundred and thirty 12:05 years ago. Your great, great, grandfather Job 12:09 was such a good and righteous man, 12:11 he has always lived a righteous life doing what 12:14 was right before the eyes of the Lord and one day 12:19 all of a sudden bad things started to 12:24 happening to him. It was terrible what 12:27 happened. First he lost his cattle and he lost, 12:31 all of his fields were burned and he lost, 12:36 all of my brothers and sisters were killed by 12:39 tornado, everything was bad what's happening to 12:43 him. He lost everything and my mother 12:46 unfortunately told him well you should be mad 12:50 at God. Just tell God you are through with him. 12:53 But not your great, great grandfather, you know 12:56 how much he loves God. Don't you? 12:58 Hmm! And he said oh no, 13:01 I will not tell God or blame God. 13:05 Because I don't believe that God's doing this, 13:08 then he began to break out these boils all over 13:12 his body, oh they were terrible soars, 13:15 they were huge soars. My mother has told me 13:18 how awful they were and they were, oh so painful 13:22 and again she thought that it was God doing 13:27 this. But grandfather Job knew something had to 13:32 be, a better explanation and his friends came to 13:37 see him and they said. Job you must have sinned, 13:40 it must be God who's been. Didn't they tell 13:42 like that? Yes. 13:44 It must be God who's punishing you and he 13:46 said, God is not like that. I've not done 13:48 anything, but you know, what his friends kept 13:53 telling him repent or else you must just turn 13:57 away and he said if God should slay me, 14:01 if he actually killed me, yet would I trust God, 14:05 aren't we glad that, that's what our 14:07 grandfather taught us was to trust God. 14:09 Yes. And he knew that we 14:11 could. The most amazing thing I think about the 14:14 story was, when the suffering had gotten so 14:18 bad. God himself showed up and he talked to my 14:23 father Job, your great, great grandfather and 14:26 after the Lord spoke to him. Our father Job was 14:31 for ever changed wasn't he and then he 14:36 immediately began praying for his friends, 14:39 who were giving him such awful counsel. 14:41 Do you think we should pray for our friends? 14:43 Yes. Does it please God when 14:46 we pray for our friends, even when they are mean 14:48 to us? Yes. 14:49 And you know as soon as your great, great 14:53 grandfather Job prayed for the friends. 14:55 God restored all of his fortunes, he gave him 14:59 twice as much land and twice as much wealth, 15:02 twice as much cattle and twice as much all of his 15:06 life stuck as he had before and then of 15:10 course. He had seven sons and three daughters here 15:14 afterwards and you know I think that what we 15:18 should always remember what our Job has taught 15:21 us is this, that he had said two things that I 15:26 will never forget. He has said that he knows 15:29 that his redeemer lives, that's God and he said 15:34 that even if we die. One day we will see him 15:39 again in our flesh, what's he talking about, 15:42 the resurrection, absolutely isn't that 15:46 exciting to think about. Umm! 15:48 But the favorite thing my father Job has ever told 15:51 me and what I want you to remember about him 15:54 too is he has said, that God's word is more 15:59 important to him than his daily food. 16:02 He treasures the word of God and that is why God 16:07 could bless him. So we must always 16:10 remember, everyday to treasure God's word, 16:15 to read it and to study it and to pray to God. 16:19 As a matter of fact lets pray to God right now, 16:22 why don't you Joshua. Would you say a prayer 16:25 for us please? Yes, I will. 16:26 Thank you, let's bow our heads and pray to God. 16:28 Dear Father in heaven, thank you, thank you that 16:33 we can trust in you and thank you for blessing us 16:36 with your wonderful gifts and thank you for this 16:41 day. Amen. Amen. We thank you God. 16:46 Oh! I wants you to go home now and study in 16:51 your, in the word of God. Okay. Okay. 16:54 Okay. Bye, bye. 19:21 Hi, boys and girls. It is time for 19:22 Ms. Brenda's book of the day and book I've chosen 19:26 today is called Nyla and The White Crocodile and 19:29 it's written by Norma Youngberg. 19:30 Oh you're going to love this book boys and girls. 19:33 Belief in spirits and curses ran wild among 19:36 river peoples in Borneo's deep jungle. 19:39 When a huge white crocodile appeared 19:41 in the creek below Chief Ladah's village, Malik, 19:44 the witch doctor, said the village was cursed 19:46 and the Chief had to make a great sacrifice to 19:49 save them. Nyla, the chief's 19:51 daughter, was the one the crocodile wanted, 19:53 but Ladah refused to sacrifice the girl to the 19:57 "Great White One." Poojee, the Christian 19:59 teacher, was not afraid of the big white 20:02 crocodile told the villagers about the God 20:04 in heaven who is greater than all of the curses in 20:07 the world. The people started to believe in 20:09 Poojee's God, but when Nyla fell into the raging 20:13 river and disappeared, everyone feared the 20:17 worst. Had the white crocodile eaten Nyla? 20:20 Was Poojee's God stronger than Malik's 20:23 curses and the evil spirits of the river? 20:25 Would Nyla's father ever see her again? 20:30 You're gonna have to wait and read the book 20:31 boys and girls. I am telling you, 20:32 this is an exciting story; well I've an 20:33 exciting story; well I've an exciting program 20:36 for you today, because I've two very special 20:38 guests I would like you meet and I would like you 20:41 to say hello to Bridgetta and Noella and I wanna 20:45 thank you both for being with me today. 20:47 We glad to be here. Well, I wanna ask you 20:50 Bridgetta what do you do to share Jesus. 20:53 Well, me and my dad went to Kentucky with 20:57 my uncle and my two cousins and we passed 21:01 out food and clothing to do the areas that were 21:04 very poor. Umm! Did you ever have, 21:06 did you have any really nice experiences from 21:08 doing that, did you get to talk to some special 21:12 people? I had this old lady that 21:14 came up to me really loved and appreciate the 21:18 stuff we gave them. So they're really 21:20 thankful. And she hoped to see me again, 21:22 but we haven't been back for a while. 21:24 You know, well that's good. Because I am sure 21:26 she really. I told her I'll pray for 21:29 her. You'll pray for her, well that's really 21:31 important you know when we do something 21:32 good for someone its important also to pray. 21:34 We've also wanna to pray for the Holy Spirit to just 21:36 bless those people and touch their hearts and 21:39 bring them closer to Jesus. I like something 21:42 else you did for Jesus, that you do in the 21:44 grocery store. Can you tell the 21:45 boys and girls about that? 21:46 Me, well my cousins figured this one out, 21:50 they taught me how to do it. 21:52 Uh-huh! We put guide booklets in 21:54 the handles of the beer cases. 21:56 So, you went in the grocery store and where 21:59 they store all the beers, the handles of the. 22:01 You would put your stories about Jesus and 22:04 you put it right in their in the handles, so that 22:05 when the people go to get beer. They are gonna read 22:08 about Jesus, well isn't that a good idea. 22:10 I think that's wonderful. I had a whole stack and I 22:14 did it well back but since I'm not waiting all 22:16 along, I went to get another one for that. 22:18 You need to learn and do it again, well good 22:21 that's wonderful. Well Noella, I am glad 22:23 you here with us, what do you do to share Jesus. 22:25 I share Jesus, by going to nursery home to sing 22:29 old people. Oh! well that's good and 22:32 what are they do, what kind of songs do you sing 22:33 for them? They, I like all different 22:38 songs that I like to maybe know and then I 22:40 used to sing Amazing Grace. 22:43 Amazing grace. Yeah, that's ones my 22:46 favorite one. Uh-huh! Songs about 22:48 Jesus, right. Yeah and my because 22:51 they have choose the guitar, for so that way 22:56 we can sing to them, so they can learn them. 23:00 So they can learn the songs too, well that's 23:02 wonderful. At sometimes I often sing 23:04 more songs to old people that they're had that in 23:08 nursery home. Well that's good, I wanna 23:11 tell you girls to keep on sharing Jesus, won't you. 23:14 Yeah, I also study, but passion of, Passion of 23:17 The Ages Book, I like to read it. 23:21 Oh! The Passion of The Ages Book and you've 23:23 passed them out the movie theater, so when 23:25 people come out of the movie theater. 23:26 Do you hand them a book, did not did 23:28 everybody take it when you handed the book, 23:30 or did some people say no I don't want that. 23:31 No, they don't say that, they took and they 23:35 thanked me. They took it and said 23:36 thank you huh. Well very good and when they 23:39 get home they can read that, they can learn 23:41 about Jesus. Well thank you so much 23:43 girls, would you like to hear some letters. 23:44 Umm! I love letters, let me 23:47 read a few right here, oh look at my basket. 23:50 Oh!
