00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:06 looking for a friend like Jesus, 00:09 it's time to share there's a world out there. 00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:24 Hi boys and girls, look at this beautiful gift 00:27 that I got in the mail today. It's from a friend 00:29 and I can't wait to see what's inside. 00:31 I thought you might just like to open it with me. 00:33 I love surprises, don't you? Well let's take 00:35 a peek, I'm going to open it up, 00:37 oh isn't that beautiful, such a beautiful bow 00:40 and everything. Oh, this is beautiful, 00:43 look boys and girls, a beautiful basket. 00:48 Oh, it's made out of wire, this basket is, 00:51 and it has beautiful amber stones in it. 00:54 Oh, that's so pretty, you know what, 00:57 I could set this on my kitchen counter, 00:59 and put some wonderful fresh fruit 01:01 in it I could put some apricots and nectarines, 01:04 my favorite, even some apples, wouldn't that 01:06 look beautiful. You know what, I kind of use 01:09 baskets for all kinds of things in my house. 01:11 I love them. You know our Bible story 01:14 today is about a wonderful treasure that 01:16 was in found in side of a basket by a beautiful 01:19 princess. It sounds kind like a fairytale, 01:21 doesn't it, but its not. This story really 01:24 happened, and what did the princess find 01:26 in the basket. Well you're going to have to wait 01:29 and see because right now its time for 01:31 Ranger Jim to show us another kind of treasure. 01:41 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying 01:43 welcome to Nature Time. We're glad you can 01:44 join us today. We're at Knoxville, Tennessee 01:46 at the zoo. And look at what we have. 01:48 Nikki has something to show us. 01:49 This is a gorgeous bird Nikki, what is this? 01:52 This is actually a Eurasian Eagle-Owl, 01:56 and these are the largest species of owls 01:57 in the world. It is huge, 02:00 how much does this bird weigh? 02:01 She weighs, and actually how much 02:03 would you think she would weigh. 02:05 Four pounds. Four pounds you are really close. 02:07 She actually weighs about seven pounds, 02:09 and the reason is bird's bones are hollow, 02:12 and their feathers don't weight very much, 02:14 so that does help them out to be able to hunt, 02:16 and be able to fly a whole lot easier. 02:17 I see she has tremendous talons. 02:20 She does, and they are made that way to 02:23 be able to catch the things that she likes 02:24 to eat. Now because they are very large, 02:26 it takes a lot for her to be able to fill up. 02:29 So, in the wild, in the Himalayan Mountains 02:31 where they're found, they actually love to eat 02:33 things like rabbits, foxes, and they've been seen 02:35 carrying a small deer. Oh! Very strong. 02:38 Very, very strong for that isn't it. 02:40 It is. Okay and I noticed that their 02:42 facial features is much like that of Great 02:45 Horned Owl.They are, they are very similar 02:46 to the Great Horned Owl. Now they are 02:47 cousins actually to the Great Horned Owl. 02:49 The only difference is really are that these 02:52 birds are a little bit larger than the Great 02:53 Horned Owl, and their eye color is a little bit 02:55 different. Their eyes are orange, 02:57 where the Great Horned Owl's are yellow. 02:59 Yes, okay now does he have a call, 03:00 I know in the background we are hearing them give 03:02 calls and different things making calls, 03:04 even the Great Horned Owl, does this have a call. 03:06 She has a very tiny hoot sound but she doesn't 03:09 make that sound regularly, that's, 03:11 I've worked with her for almost five years, 03:12 and I've only heard it twice. So the sound 03:15 that she regularly makes is more of a hissing 03:17 sound, kind like of a cat, and she also make 03:19 a snapping sound with her beak. 03:21 And so as you said that she feeds on mammals 03:25 and things like that. And we can see much as 03:27 the Great Horned Owl. Now the Great Horned, 03:29 like other owls she flies on silent wings, 03:31 is this true. She does, she does. 03:33 Their feathers are very, very soft. 03:35 Owls have the softest feathers of any birds, 03:37 and that does allow them to have the silent flight. 03:40 And so any creature, we wouldn't have to worry 03:42 about this animal in the States, 03:44 but I have warned people repeatedly that have cats 03:47 and things like that, that they allow it to run 03:49 especially in the spring. Let the cat run out 03:52 like that, if there is a Great Horned Owl 03:54 in the area, and he has babies in the nest, 03:55 look out. Exactly. You are looking for problems, 03:58 yes. And so that, so this bird like most birds, 04:02 but you said come from the Himalayans, 04:03 so they maybe they don't have the same 04:06 problem we have in this country of encroachment 04:08 of human being, do you have that. 04:09 They do actually, that is the number one cause 04:11 that these birds disappearing as more 04:13 and more people are moving into their land, 04:15 and there is no place for them to go. 04:17 So they are being driven further and further 04:18 up into the mountains. Okay, now this bird 04:21 would nest in a hallow tree, things of that 04:23 nature. It would to a certain degree, 04:26 and they actually like caves sometimes. 04:29 They'll make their homes in caves. 04:31 Okay, and she would lay what, two, 04:32 three eggs or so? Two to four actually, 04:35 four being a rather large number for them, 04:38 but generally two. Okay, and this country 04:41 speaking of the similarities between 04:43 this and the Great Horned Owl, 04:44 the Great Horned Owl is one of the few creatures 04:46 that will eat skunks. They would catch skunks 04:48 in the first time I got around the Great 04:50 Horned Owl's nest and I smelled a skunk 04:51 every time, then begin to research, 04:53 and I found that they pay no attention to the skunk 04:56 or that they will eat them. Now this bird tears 04:58 its flesh and eats it, do they regurgitate 05:01 pellets as do some. They do and actually 05:04 everything that they can't digest like the hair 05:06 and the bones, things like that, 05:07 they will regurgitate it back up, usually after 05:10 every meal within a twenty four hour period. 05:13 Now you mentioned earlier that and they tore 05:16 their food, they would use the tearing mostly 05:17 to get that, their feet are extremely powerful. 05:20 In fact each talon has about five hundred 05:23 pounds of pressure. Amazing, amazing, 05:26 that's much stronger than a man. 05:27 Yes, the average man has about ninety pounds 05:29 of pressure when they clinch their fists. 05:30 So she could grip a hard branch and stick 05:32 her talons into that wood. 05:33 She could. Amazing creature. Boys and girls, 05:36 Ranger Jim saying don't forget to tell Jesus 05:39 that you love him because he really does love you. 05:50 Glesni, what you are doing? 05:52 I am trying to picture what the pastor 05:54 talked about in Church. That's pretty. 05:57 Hey kids, do you like to draw, Frank Beldon did. 06:00 He and his wife would sit in a quiet loft 06:03 and using the pastor's Bible sermon text 06:05 he would write a song. After the sermon 06:08 he and his wife would offer to say instead 06:11 of the closing hymn. Then he would give it 06:12 to the pastor. This is how he wrote this love 06:15 that make us happy. He wrote it specially 06:17 for children. Let sing this song now. 06:26 'Tis love that makes us happy, 06:28 'Tis love that smooths the way; 06:31 It helps us mind, it makes us kind 06:34 To others everyday. 06:37 God is love; we're His little children. 06:42 God is love; we would be like Him. 06:47 'Tis love that makes us happy, 06:49 'Tis love that smooths the way; 06:52 It helps us mind, it makes us kind 06:54 To others every day. 07:00 And when this life is over, 07:02 And we are called above 07:05 Our song shall be, eternally, 07:07 Of Jesus and His love. 07:10 God is love; we're His little children. 07:15 God is love; we would be like Him. 07:19 'Tis love that makes us happy, 07:21 'Tis love that smooths the way; 07:24 It helps us mind, it makes us kind 07:26 To others every day. 07:37 Welcome to Learning Time. I'm glad that 07:39 you have joined us today. We're going to do 07:41 an interesting experiment. Do you like 07:43 experiments? Yes. Yeah and I've got James, 07:47 James is my helper today. James do you 07:49 like experiments. Yes. Oh, I'm glad you do 07:52 because we're going to do an experiment 07:54 with a what? Egg. With an egg, now we can 07:58 do lots of things with eggs, can't we James. 08:00 What can we do with this egg? 08:02 Eat. We can eat the egg, that's right. 08:05 And this egg came from what kind of 08:07 an animal. Chicken. A chicken, what I'm going 08:10 to do, I am going to have James help me 08:12 with this experiment, I'm gonna put it on 08:14 this glass bottle right here, I'm going to put 08:16 my glasses on because something just mighty fly 08:18 around, and James why don't you grab a 08:21 hold of that jar, and I'm going to have James 08:23 see if he can just push that egg right into 08:27 the jar without breaking it, 08:28 do you think he can do it. Yes. Alright, 08:31 lets give him a 3, 2, 1, are you ready James. 08:33 Okay, here we go 3, 2, 1 and he's going 08:37 to jam that egg right into the. 08:40 Oh! James look at what he did to my egg. 08:45 It's just fallen apart isn't it? 08:48 Do you think that we can really do that 08:50 without destroying the egg. What do you think? 08:53 You think we can? Yes. Well, hey I've got 08:56 just the thing. I've got another bottle 08:58 right here, and what I'm going to do 09:00 is we're going to get another egg, 09:02 but we're going to do it a little differently 09:04 this time okay James. Alright, now I'm going 09:06 to give James the egg, just like that, 09:08 would you hold that just like that, 09:10 and then I'm going to have James place 09:12 that egg very carefully on the jar, 09:14 but first I've got to do something with it okay, 09:16 in fact I'm going to take a little fire right here. 09:20 We're going to burn a little piece of paper, 09:22 we're going to eat up some air inside of that 09:24 jug and then we're going put the egg in, 09:27 in fact why don't you hand me the egg 09:29 when I'm ready, okay, okay. Hand me the egg 09:31 right now we're going to put that in here 09:32 and I'm going to put the egg right on top 09:35 just like that, and lets see what might just 09:38 happen to this egg. Doesn't look like anything 09:44 is happening James, wow wait a minute 09:49 something's happening, can you see the egg, 09:52 yes. Do you think the egg is moving? 09:55 Yes. Well, lets just wait and find out. 10:00 It looks like its being forced right into that 10:02 bottle doesn't it, yes. It sure is going slow 10:06 though look more of the egg is underneath 10:10 the lip of the bottle and it just might 10:13 all go in, I don't know if we can wait 10:16 long enough, can you wait around, okay. 10:19 Well, it's okay with me too, I think I can wait, 10:22 come on, come on, come on. Now when we put 10:26 that paper, burning inside of this jar 10:29 we've got a lot of air hot in a hurry that 10:32 hot air just went right out of the bottle 10:35 and now that, watch, watch its happening, 10:39 boom, and it popped right in. 10:41 did we destroy the egg, no. no that warm air 10:45 went right out the bottle we put the egg 10:48 on top and then that warm air cooled down. 10:51 When warmer air cools down, it takes up 10:53 less space. We ended up with low air pressure 10:57 inside the bottle. James, the high air pressure 11:00 just absolutely forced the egg inside, 11:04 isn't that great. Oh yeah, when we learn about 11:08 science, we're learning more 11:10 about our creator God. 11:28 Look at this, look at that roll. 11:31 Looks like a noodle. Looks like a noodle or a worm. 11:42 Peter, can you help me tell this really 11:45 exciting story? Yeah. 11:47 When you were little, how big do you think 11:49 you were. You would fit in a basket this size. 11:55 Oh, who in the Bible, could fit in the basket 11:59 this size. Well, we open this for the. 12:02 Baby Moses, baby Moses, oh no I can't get 12:06 this one open we have to do that later. 12:09 Baby Moses lived in a country called Egypt, 12:12 and there was a mean King, what did he want 12:15 to do with all the baby boys? He wanted to 12:17 throw them in the river to all the crocodiles. 12:21 Did the mommy and daddy want that to happen? 12:24 No, what did mommy try to do. 12:28 Hide her baby. Hide her baby but what did 12:30 baby Moses do, did he cry. It's hard to hide 12:36 a crying baby, so what did mother, 12:38 wise mother decide to do. 12:40 I need knife. You'll get this one later. 12:43 Okay, I want knife, where is mine. 12:46 We'll get one later. They made a basket boat 12:51 and they put baby Moses in the basket 12:53 and they prayed to God to please watch over our 12:56 baby Moses and they put him in the river. 12:59 Who watched baby Moses? 13:01 Miriam. Miriam, baby Moses' big sister 13:04 and but who should come to the river. 13:08 The princess, the King's daughter. Oh! No, 13:12 what would she do. Did she see baby Moses? 13:15 Yes. Did she see baby Moses and bring him out 13:19 of the river? She brought him out of the river, 13:23 and who came quickly? Miriam, Miriam, 13:26 and she saw the princes holding baby Moses, 13:30 and she said would you like a nurse to take 13:33 care of your baby. And the princess said yes, 13:37 I would. Who did Miriam run and get. 13:41 The mom. The mom, and did the mother 13:44 come right away. Yes, she came right away. 13:48 I could tie it around and tie it and tie it. 13:52 What did the princess said to the mother? 13:55 I will like a boy. She would like baby Moses, 13:59 but she said you can take care of baby Moses, 14:02 and I will pay you. What do you think 14:06 they thought? Oh! They were so thankful 14:09 and they all went home together. 14:11 Do you think they were singing a song? 14:13 Yeah. Oh! They were probably singing 14:15 and clapping their hands. Okay, you can do 14:17 that one. They prayed together and thanked God, 14:20 mother and father and brother and baby Moses 14:25 was in the middle. They were all thanking God 14:28 for taking care of their baby Moses in the 14:30 basket boat. Did Moses grow up to a big man? 14:34 Yes. Yes he did, God had many great things 14:36 to do for him, and he has many great things 14:39 for you to do too. And I will pray for you 14:41 everyday too Peter, because I want you to 14:44 serve God as much as Moses did. 14:48 You see another basket that we could use 14:50 to fix this, how about this one. 14:52 Can you help me with this. Yeah. 14:54 Lets use this rope right here, and we'll fix this 14:57 up here. Hey, it could go in here, 15:00 it will all done over you put in there. 15:03 Poke that down in there, shall we tie it up 15:06 with the rope. Yes, do that again. Okay. 15:17 Holy Lord, most holy Lord; 15:24 You alone are worthy of my praise. 15:32 O Holy Lord, most Holy Lord; 15:39 with all of my heart I sing 15:47 Great are You Lord. Worthy of praise. 16:03 Holy and true; 16:07 Great are you Lord, most holy Lord. 16:18 Holy Lord, most holy Lord; 16:24 You alone are worthy of my praise. 16:32 O Holy Lord, most Holy Lord; 16:38 with all of my heart I sing 16:47 Great are you Lord. Worthy of praise. 17:00 Holy and true; 17:06 Great are you Lord, most Holy Lord. 17:16 Holy and true; 17:20 Great are you Lord, most Holy Lord. 17:39 Hi boys and girls, it is time for Miss Brenda's 17:42 book of the day, and I have for you today 17:44 a wonderful book, it is Secrets and Friends. 17:47 Heather, An Adventist Girl, Book 1 by 17:49 Jean Boonstra. And let me just share a 17:52 little bit with you. It says young 17:54 Heather Gibson can hardly believe her family 17:56 is moving to Australia. She wonders about 17:59 this land so strange, and so far away from home. 18:02 Will she like it? Will she make any friends? 18:05 Heather's big brother Nathan makes a new 18:07 friend right away, but Heather is having a little 18:10 hard time. The girls at her new school in 18:12 Avondale ignore her, and Lord Douglas acts cold 18:15 and unfriendly. Sabbath in the sunny new Church 18:18 brings an unexpected surprise when a very 18:21 special visitor preaches from the Gospel of John. 18:25 Later, a hike in the forest leads to a close 18:27 call that greatly upsets Heather. 18:29 And in the secret place, she pours out her heart 18:32 to God and prays for a friend. The answer to 18:36 Heather's prayers, as you will see, 18:37 comes in a most unexpected way. 18:40 And you will want to get this book boys and girls. 18:43 It is an excellent book, and let's find out 18:46 who that friend was, and who was that 18:48 special visitor? Well speaking of special 18:51 visitors, I have a special visitor with me, 18:53 not one but two. I like you to meet Hannah 18:56 and her brother Hatch. And I want to thank you 18:58 for being here today. Hannah, 18:59 what do you do to share Jesus. 19:01 I tell other people about eating healthy 19:04 and juicing. Juicing, now I'm wondering 19:09 and that has something to do what's sitting 19:10 on your lap, doesn't it. Yes. But what is that 19:12 sitting in your lap. It's a champion juicer. 19:15 And what kind of things would you do juice 19:17 in there. Vegetables like carrots, 19:19 and lettuce, and kale and tomatoes. 19:22 And would you ever do fruits. 19:24 You can do apples and grapes, and lemons, 19:27 buts that's mainly it. Mainly it, so now can 19:29 you show us how that would work. 19:31 You would take a carrot. 19:32 You help her Hatch. Oh good job Hatch. 19:36 You stick the carrot in there and then you just 19:38 plunge it down and then you have two bowls 19:42 under here and the pulp comes out this end, 19:44 and the juice comes out under here. 19:46 oh, that's enough Let me ask you this, 19:49 do you ever like mix up any of your 19:51 fruits and vegetables. Yeah my mom likes the 19:53 carrot and kale and I like the apple and carrot, 19:56 and then Hatch, what kind do you like. 19:59 Lemonade. Yeah he likes the lemon and apple. 20:02 Lemon and apple, okay, and do you like 20:05 that juice. You do. How old are you Hatch. 20:09 Three years old. And you're a little bit shy, 20:12 right. So since you're shy you don't want to 20:15 talk very much, how about drinking, 20:16 you take a taste, I've got some carrot juice 20:18 right here, that they made for me. 20:20 Can you take a taste of that, and tell me 20:21 what you think of that. You take a big drink, 20:24 let's see. I think he likes it, lets see. 20:30 Is it good? You say yum. 20:34 I'm sure your mom is going to like that. 20:38 Oh well, I tell you what that is a wonderful 20:40 way to share Jesus, isn't that because 20:43 when we teach other people how to eat healthy. 20:46 You know Jesus wants us to do, doesn't he, 20:48 because our bodies are the temple of God 20:49 we're told. So, we have to treat our bodies 20:51 that way, don't we. We have to feed them 20:53 what we put in our bodies, it need to be 20:55 healthy, need to make sure that we drink lots 20:57 of water, eat all our fruits and vegetables, 20:58 and this is a wonderful way to get lots of those 21:01 vitamins, isn't it. Well thank you so much for 21:03 coming and sharing that with us today. 21:05 And maybe boys and girls at home, 21:06 we can get you juice in and then you can share 21:09 that with others too, and it's so good for you. 21:12 Well, I have some letters here today. 21:13 Would you like, maybe if you set that down 21:15 on the floor, you can help me answer some 21:17 letters here. And I love to get some letters 21:19 in my basket, and this one is, lets see 21:22 where this one is from, I can't really read that 21:24 on the outside. It says, oh its from Germany. 21:27 This letter is from Germany. Can you hold 21:28 this picture up for me? And let's see who this 21:32 letter is from.
