00:04 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:08 looking for a friend like Jesus, 00:11 it's time to share there's a world out there. 00:14 Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:17 Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:21 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:25 Hi boys and girls, have you ever tried Barefoot 00:27 skiing. Now people actually ski on water 00:30 using nothing, but their bare feet and 00:32 I've never tried it and you know what 00:34 I can guarantee you I probably never will. 00:37 But Barefoot skiing is really pretty interesting 00:40 to watch. I've been told that it takes a lot of 00:42 effort and many painful falls to get really good 00:45 at it. Now you have to have an adventurous 00:47 spirit and you know what you have to be 00:49 willing to practice if you want to learn to 00:51 Barefoot skiing. You have to be going 40 miles 00:55 an hour to ski on your feet. That's pretty fast 00:57 isn't it? Sometimes so much water sprays 01:00 up that you can hardly see the person 01:02 that's skiing and most people they have to 01:04 wear body suits, because when that harsh spray 01:07 hits him, it hurts. Well the Bible doesn't talk 01:10 about Barefoot skiing, but it does talk about 01:13 something even more amazing. 01:14 And it tells a story of a man who actually 01:17 walked on water. Now he didn't have to practice 01:19 at all and he didn't need a body suit either. 01:22 There is only one thing that he needed 01:24 and you are gonna find out what that one 01:26 thing was when you see our Bible story today. 01:28 But right now let's see what adventurers 01:31 Ranger Jim has been having lately. 01:40 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying 01:42 welcome to Nature Time. We're glad you 01:44 can join us today I'm with my friend Sherry 01:46 and Sherry, you have something special. 01:48 What is this beautiful creature? 01:50 Well, a lot of people don't think she is 01:51 too beautiful, but I do. Her name is Lucy. 01:55 I call her Lucy Goosy. She is an African 01:58 Crested Porcupine and when I, I bought her 02:01 from a zoo up in Pennsylvania and 02:04 when she was actually flown down here 02:06 and the guys that were working in the baggage 02:08 department thought I had totally lost my mind 02:10 when I received her on the airplane. 02:14 Anyway Lucy is oh I'd say she's probably 02:16 about five years old now. 02:19 She's an African Crested Porcupine, 02:21 now she is much bigger than what our 02:24 Northern American Porcupines are. 02:26 Well I noticed that. One thing that's really 02:29 different about them is the size of their quills. 02:31 She's got many different sizes of quills where 02:34 as our North American Porcupine, 02:37 have mainly the same length of quills all over. 02:40 Now this little head dress here, I call her my 02:44 Comanche Indian, but if you look back there 02:48 on her tail she has got some quills that are 02:51 hallow and that's what your hearing rattling. 02:53 It's kind like a rattlesnake sound 02:55 and what she is doing is she's warning 02:58 anybody that comes around that this is her 03:00 lawn chair and you better not mess with her. 03:03 That's her first line of defense. 03:05 She will also stamp her feet and let you 03:09 know that she doesn't want to be messed 03:10 with and if you don't get her message by then, 03:14 then if you go up to her. She will actually, 03:18 she doesn't throw her quills at you, 03:20 but they're lose, it's like your hair is 03:23 loosing your head and they will fallout 03:25 and they will actually poke into your skin 03:28 and it's very painful to have a quill put in you. 03:31 Let's stick them now, now do they have a 03:34 barb on the end or they just smooth. 03:35 Yes, yes they do. It's very small by looking 03:39 about the Porcupine quill you wouldn't 03:40 even see the barb, but if you look it 03:43 under microscope they actually have little 03:45 barbs on them and when she sticks. 03:49 She's actually stuck me in my foot through 03:51 my boot one time and when she did it hurt 03:57 and I could feel it clear through my boot, 03:59 now something about them she's got very 04:01 sharp teeth and in the cage that 04:04 she was out, she actually chewed through 04:07 the wire and got herself out. 04:09 My husband wasn't really excited when 04:10 he came out and had to try that put the 04:12 Porcupine back in. They actually can run very 04:16 fast too. They are very slow when they're 04:18 looking for food, but they can out run an 04:21 human being. Amazing, now I know in Michigan 04:25 the Porcupines that we have there, 04:27 they are of course are just the regular 04:29 Porcupine and they have a tendency to get 04:31 in a tree and they may stay in a tree all winter 04:33 and a Porcupine can live boys and girls 04:35 the ones we have native to North America 04:38 on something that no other creature could live. 04:40 They can live all winter and one pine tree just 04:43 chewing off the bark. Right. They will club 04:45 the next branch and chewing the bark, 04:46 but she is eating much better than that here. 04:48 Right and she usually stays on the ground. 04:50 You don't find these in the trees very often. 04:53 So you feed her this is the normal diet 04:55 you would feet her. I see that you have 04:57 vegetables here. Lucy would eat anything 04:59 I put in there. Anything that you would bring to 05:02 it. Fruits, vegetables, dog food. Alright, 05:05 how many babies would these normal have 05:07 in the wild if they would have? About two. 05:09 About two they would have. And you said 05:12 before they're somewhat like a skunk when 05:14 they get excited or warning you. 05:15 They begin to stomp those feet and you 05:17 better look out and either way if you get too 05:19 near a skunk you get the odor if you get 05:21 and once a dog has encountered a Porcupine 05:25 they should learn their lesson forever today. 05:27 Yeah they'll never do it again. 05:28 Okay and the wind is blowing so hard boys 05:29 and girls. It's almost blowing the quills 05:31 around here today. They were having and 05:33 we had some fun getting her out of the cage 05:35 but she is out. Now she is doing and 05:37 she is still rattling her tail isn't it? 05:38 That's like you said, its almost a rattlesnake 05:41 sound. Okay boys and girls Ranger Jim 05:43 saying don't forget to tell the Jesus that 05:45 you love him, because he really does love you. 05:57 Are you afraid of trying something new? 05:59 I don't think Mr. Russell Carter was afraid to 06:02 try anything. He was a teacher, chief editor, 06:04 athletic, minister, professor and publisher 06:07 of many textbooks and later he even 06:10 became a doctor. I'm sure he believe God's 06:14 promises were true, so don't be afraid of 06:16 doing new things for Jesus, because with 06:18 God's help you can do anything. 06:22 Standing, standing, 06:27 I'm standing on the promises of God. 06:33 Standing on the promises of Christ my King, 06:37 Through eternal ages let His praises ring, 06:40 Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, 06:43 Standing on the promises of God. 06:47 Standing, standing, 06:50 Standing on the promises of God my Savior; 06:53 Standing, standing, 06:57 I'm standing on the promises of God. 07:02 Standing on the promises of Christ my Lord, 07:05 Bound to Him every time 07:07 I leave the love's strong cord, 07:09 Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword, 07:12 Standing on the promises of God. 07:15 Standing, standing, 07:18 Standing on the promises of God my Savior; 07:21 Standing, standing, 07:25 I'm standing on the promises of God. 07:29 Standing on the promises of God. 07:42 Welcome to Learning Time, I'm glad you're 07:44 here today. Let me ask you a question, 07:47 do you like sound? Yes. Let's do a sound 07:50 experiment. Now I have Rachel, 07:52 she is gonna help us, thanks for helping us 07:54 today Rachel and I have Haley. 07:56 Well Haley do you like sounds? Yes. 07:59 What kind of sounds do you like? Birds tweet. 08:02 I like birds tweeting sound, that's a neat sound. 08:05 Today we're going to make some sound. 08:06 And in order to do that, we're gonna use these, 08:09 what are these? Matches. Matches, 08:11 you should never play with matches 08:13 they're dangerous, I'm gonna be real careful 08:15 and just in case we have a Fire Extinguisher. 08:19 Fire Extinguisher if I catch on fire you can 08:21 put me out okay. Alright we gonna put this 08:24 down right here, now we happen to have some 08:26 safety classes on, because we are working 08:28 with fire that's very important. 08:30 We have to protect our eyes don't we? 08:32 Yes. Yes we wanna protect our eyes. 08:34 Now today I'm going to use two different pipes 08:38 and we are gonna see if we can get some 08:40 sound to come out of these pipes. 08:43 Now in order to do that I'm gonna light 08:45 a match very carefully, take it out of my box, 08:47 close the box, light our match, 08:49 I'm gonna turn the valve on, gas is 08:51 gonna come up here, look at there we've 08:53 got a really really hot flame and we're 08:55 gonna have to be careful with this, 08:57 put my matches out of the way right here. 08:59 Now hey why don't you go ahead and hand 09:02 me this very long plastic tube. 09:05 We're gonna see if we can get some air 09:07 vibrating through this tube to make an 09:09 exciting sound. Are you ready? Yeah. 09:12 All Right we're gonna heat up some air 09:14 and that air is going to vibrate through 09:16 the tube listen carefully and you 09:19 can hear some sound maybe listen. 09:32 Did you hear that sound? Yeah. Oh! 09:36 That was interesting. Pipes can make the 09:38 sound if we can get some air vibrating 09:41 through them. Now Rachel has a smaller pipe, 09:44 let's take a look at this pipe right here. 09:46 You know what I can see right through this 09:48 pipe and I can see you right here where 09:50 you are. Let's go ahead and heat up some air 09:53 and let's see if we can get some sound out of 09:55 this pipe. Now since this pipe is so much 09:59 shorter than this big pipe that Haley has 10:02 the sound might be different. Let's check 10:05 this out. We're gonna heat this up. 10:06 Got to get it really really warm when it take 10:10 it off for the fire right here and unless 10:12 we can get some sound out of this. 10:18 It's coming right out of the pipe. 10:20 Is this a higher note? Yes. It's a higher note. 10:23 You know we can do with this. 10:25 We can heat this up again and once it 10:27 gets really, really hot I'm going to try to 10:30 pour some of that sound right out of 10:33 my pipe and that's going to be really 10:35 interesting. We can get this pipe really warm, 10:38 now I'm gonna go ahead and I'm going 10:40 to put my pipe horizontally like this 10:43 and let's go ahead and stand it up. 10:47 When I stand it up the air comes right up. 10:50 The hard air goes up and it makes a beautiful, 10:53 beautiful sound. Now let me hand this back 10:55 to you. There you go, be real careful 10:58 because that's really hot isn't it. 11:00 Now what kind of sounds do you like 11:02 to listen to Rachel? I like to listen to a 11:06 lot of sounds. A lot of sounds. 11:08 How many of you like to listen lot of different 11:10 sounds? There's a lot of things that makes 11:12 sounds and without our ears and without something 11:15 that vibrate and without something for air to 11:18 travel in and sound to travel we couldn't 11:20 hear it. When we learn more about science 11:23 we are learning more about our creator God. 11:42 Aren't they pretty? Yeah. Look at that 11:44 which one you like best. This one? Yeah. 11:47 Yeah. Which one do you like best? 11:50 This one or you like that one? 11:56 Oh! Hi James. Good afternoon. 11:58 How are you and disciples doing? 11:59 Well we're actually a little hungry ever 12:02 since Peter started walking on water. 12:04 He's had the appetite on the horse. 12:07 Walking on the water, what do you mean? 12:09 You haven't heard the story. No, 12:10 tell me about it. Well it happened a little 12:13 while ago. Do you remember the story 12:15 of Jesus feeding the 5000? Yes. 12:18 Well it happened right after that. 12:19 Everyone wanted to crown and king, 12:21 but Jesus said no, no and he got us in a boat 12:25 and told us to go to the other side of 12:26 the lake, so we started doing that. 12:29 I guess we were up to the mountains to pray. 12:31 He didn't go with you? No, he said he'd meet 12:33 us later. I didn't really understand. 12:35 Well we just were rolling and rolling and 12:38 all of a sudden a storm came up. 12:40 You know how quick storms can be on the lake. 12:43 When a storm came up and the winds were just 12:46 beating us back and the waves were tossing 12:48 us all around. It must have been scary? 12:50 I was kind of scared, I'm fisherman, 12:52 don't tell anyone I told you this but Matthew 12:55 was sea sick as in doll. Oh! No. 12:57 He can't handle that bad weather. 12:59 Well all this was happening and all of a sudden 13:02 we saw someone out there. It was like a ghost or 13:05 something. That must have been aerie. 13:07 It was and he was walking on the water. 13:10 Walking on water. Yeah just like I'm walking 13:13 on the ground right now. And someone said 13:15 who is that. And John who has really good 13:18 eye site he said I think it's the Lord. 13:21 Well I was so scared I didn't know what 13:23 to do and I didn't say anything, but Peter 13:26 said Lord, if that's you call out to me 13:29 and I'll walk on the water too. 13:31 Well Jesus said it is I and he motioned for 13:35 Peter to come. Isn't it just like Peter, 13:37 he just wanna be there. Yeah he's a show off. 13:40 Well Peter, as he got outside the boat 13:43 holding on and sure did, he didn't sink down 13:47 at all. His feet were just on solid ground. 13:51 He started walking out to Jesus and then 13:55 all of a sudden there was huge wave and 13:59 he took his eyes off Jesus and looked the wave 14:01 and I didn't see his face, but I can tell it from 14:03 his back that he was terrified and all of a 14:06 sudden his feet started to sink. 14:09 He started going under the water and 14:11 he said Lord, save me and Jesus ran up 14:15 and stuck out his hand and grab Peter 14:17 right he went under water and he pulled 14:19 him up. That's exciting. Oh! It was crazy 14:23 and so Jesus put his arm around Peter 14:26 and he walked back to the boat and then 14:28 got on and the Jesus calmed the storm. 14:31 I've never seen anything like it before. 14:33 Oh! That's exciting. It's crazy the kind of stuff 14:37 that happens when you're with Jesus. Amen. 14:40 But I'm not always letting Peter do stuff 14:42 like walking on water, but I really feel like 14:45 he's changing our hearts. I feel like 14:47 we're being better men because of him. 14:49 Well Peter's probably hungry. 14:51 I need to buy a loaf of bread if you don't mind. 14:53 Is this enough. Do you want to take 14:56 some more? No. Thank you Sir, thank you. 15:01 Well thank you Elie. Thank you. Shalom. 15:39 Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; 15:47 There is no shadow of turning with Thee; 15:54 Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; 16:02 As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be. 16:09 Great is Thy faithfulness! 16:13 Great is Thy faithfulness! 16:17 Morning by morning new mercies I see. 16:24 All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; 16:32 Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! 16:40 Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, 16:48 Sun, moon and stars in their courses above 16:55 Join with all nature in manifold witnes 17:02 To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. 17:10 Great is Thy faithfulness! 17:14 Great is Thy faithfulness! 17:17 Morning by morning new mercies I see. 17:25 All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; 17:32 Great is Thy faithfulness, 17:36 Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! 17:57 Hi boys and girls it is time for 17:59 Miss Brenda's book of the day and my choice 18:02 for you today is Ellen, The Girl with Two Angels 18:06 and it's written by Mabel Miller. 18:08 And let me just share just a little bit with you. 18:11 It says, Ellen grew up like any other child in 18:14 the 1800's. With her twin sister, Elizabeth, 18:17 she brought the cows home for milking, 18:19 fed the family dogs and she learned to read, 18:21 and loved to play. While she was still young, 18:24 Jesus began to speak to Ellen in dreams 18:26 and visions. Ellen, tell people what I have 18:29 shown you. Tell them I'm coming soon. 18:31 But Ellen was worried. Jesus, I'm afraid, 18:35 I can't speak to people. Ellen, Jesus promised, 18:39 your angel will always be with you. 18:41 And I will send an extra angel anytime 18:44 you are in danger. So Ellen, the girl with 18:46 two angels, became a messenger for God. 18:49 You won't wanna miss this book boys and girls. 18:52 It is filled with so many special stories. 18:54 So you want this book it's called Ellen, 18:57 The girl with two angels. 18:59 And you know boys and girls each of 19:00 us have an angel don't we? 19:01 Well I would like you to meet a guest 19:04 I have with me today and I would like to 19:06 have you meet Brittany. Hi Brittany. 19:08 Hello Miss Brenda. Thank you for being here today. 19:11 Now I met you a little while ago at 3ABN 19:14 camp meeting didn't I and you know what 19:16 I noticed about you? The big smile on your 19:19 face and how much you love Jesus 19:21 and I said Brittany why don't you come 19:23 to Kids Time and share the story you told me 19:25 and here you are. So Brittany, tell me 19:28 what do you do to share Jesus? 19:30 Well, it was Christmas time and there was 19:35 a lady at the nursing home and she had 19:37 never ever had a teddy bear before, 19:39 so I took some of my stuffed animals 19:42 and I went to the nursing home to give 19:45 away stuffed animals, but I wrap them all up 19:49 I didn't know who was getting what. 19:51 Oh! Wow. So this lady opened her present 19:55 and she found her first teddy bear. 19:57 She had never had a teddy bear. 19:59 No. What did she do when she opened 20:02 your present? She was so happy. 20:04 Did she get all excited? Yeah. She did, she gave 20:09 you a hug? I don't think. I don't remember 20:14 that probably, she was excited. 20:16 Well you know was that hard for you to 20:18 part with all your toys, your stuff animals 20:20 like that. Little. It was, but you wanted to 20:25 make some really. I didn't really play 20:26 with them a lot, I just look at them. 20:28 So you though maybe they can make 20:30 somebody else happy. Well that was good. 20:33 You know that was an unselfish thing for you 20:34 to do to. Boys and girls, maybe that's 20:36 something you could do, maybe you've got 20:38 some extra stuffed animals around in your house 20:40 and like Brittany she said I was just looking 20:42 at them. She wasn't really playing with them 20:43 and maybe you could take them to a nursing 20:45 home and pass them out to people and 20:47 you would be surprised the joy that you're 20:49 bringing in other people's lives and 20:50 it will make you feel good too. 20:51 So I think that was a wonderful idea Brittany. 20:54 Well you know I would like to share some 20:56 letters with you boys and girls. 20:57 Would you like to hear some Brittany? 20:58 This one here is from Nakusp, British Columbia 21:03 and lets see.
