00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:06 Looking for a friend like Jesus. It's time to 00:11 share there's a world out there; Let's tell them 00:14 that He loves us so. Let's tell them that 00:18 He loves us so. Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:27 Hi, boys and girls, I am just looking at 00:29 this beautiful crown. My grandson Michael 00:32 he likes to play with this little crown and 00:34 he likes to pretend that he is a great big king 00:37 or maybe even a prince. He looks so cute 00:40 all dressed up in his royal robes with the crown 00:42 and a scepter. But pretty soon it's time for him to 00:45 to take off his royal clothes and put on his 00:48 not so royal jimmies, brush his teeth and go to bed. 00:51 He is just a little boy and his mother and father 00:54 are still in-charge. You know, our Bible story 00:57 today is about a little boy who was in-charge of 01:00 an entire nation. And he didn't just use blocks 01:03 and legos to build play castles and cities. 01:06 No, he decided to have the real temple of the 01:09 living God repaired and rebuilt. He had mother's 01:13 and father's working for him. You think of a little 01:16 boy in-charge of a nation might really get into 01:18 some mischief, but this little king did his job 01:22 very well and he is remembered for many good 01:25 things he did for God and for his nation while he was 01:28 still very, very young. He is going to tell us his story 01:32 today but right from his own throne room so don't miss 01:36 it okay. Meanwhile, it's time for visit with Ranger Jim. 01:40 What do you have to show us today Ranger Jim? 01:49 Hi, boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying welcome to 01:51 Nature Time. We are glad that you can join us today. 01:53 We are at Knoxville, Tennessee at the Knoxville 01:55 Zoo and we have something special for you to see. 01:58 And my friend Jill is a specialist of these. 02:00 Jill, what are these creatures? These guys 02:02 right here are called Giant African millipedes. 02:04 Giant African millipedes actually come, of course, 02:06 from Africa. They are gonna be found in Central 02:08 and Southern Africa. These guys are gonna be found 02:10 in the jungle, so it can be found in different areas, 02:13 eating vegetables, fruits, different things like that. 02:15 They love leaf litter, all sorts of great things 02:17 like that, and believe it or not these giant African 02:20 millipedes we've got here actually still growing. 02:22 They are going to get to, up to about a foot that's the 02:24 longest I can get luckily 10 inches, like this, yeah 02:27 pretty much 10 inches. It's pretty much. 02:29 I don't know if I would handle them if they 02:31 get that big, okay. I promise you won't have to, 02:33 alright, but these guys are millipedes, not centipedes. 02:36 The biggest difference is they don't have the poison. 02:39 Centipedes do have venom they do eat things like mice 02:43 and different things like that. These millipedes are 02:45 just strict vegetarians. They are only gonna 02:46 eat plants. They are not gonna eat any animals 02:48 or anything. Well that, this I see on the bottom now. 02:52 This is her locomotion right there feet? Yeah, 02:54 you can actually see they've got tons of legs 02:56 somebody asked me how many there are? Well, 02:58 I'll tell count them. There are too pairs for each 03:01 body segment as they grow, there body segments 03:04 keep on adding on, so they can have up to a couple 03:06 of hundred pairs of legs in their life. Amazing. 03:10 So, quite a few, yeah. Now did they have the ability 03:12 to climb up a tree something. They actually can 03:15 if you watch they can actually hang on very well. 03:17 I notice him hanging on my finger. Yeah, they got 03:19 a good suction so that's really important also 03:21 because they are bugs. They do have excess skeletons. 03:24 You can actually fill they've got really hard excess 03:26 skeletons those are really important to help defend 03:28 themselves from things that might like to eat them 03:30 like scorpions and hedgehogs and different animals 03:32 like that. If their excess skeleton doesn't help 03:34 defend them they also produce cyanide, believe it 03:37 or not, they actually through their body, they'll 03:39 actually secrete it when they really nervous. 03:40 You can tell they are not doing it now because 03:42 if they were, our fingers would be bright yellow. 03:45 Amazing. Now tell me this you said actual skeleton 03:47 you mentioned that. For boys and girls, who don't know 03:49 what this has been. If you like having your bones 03:52 on the outside of your skin, right, it be like if you 03:54 have ever accidentally stepped on a bug of course 03:57 and that crunching noise that's an excess skeleton, 03:59 alright, these guys actually do have excess skeletons 04:01 that help protect them when they grow they have to 04:03 molt unlike us who just keep on growing, we don't 04:05 want to worry about it. These guys actually have to 04:07 molt their skin all of it before they can grow to the 04:09 next size. And then they grow to the next size 04:11 with the skin and they molt, just as a snake shed 04:14 its skin and many other creatures. Same idea, 04:16 same idea, yep and you gonna actually see their 04:18 antenna moving around, those who are gonna 04:19 help sense things. They're gonna help find food. 04:21 They're also gonna help tell them what's around 04:23 them whether there is anything they have to worry 04:25 about or anything like that basically it's helping 04:27 him look for food. But this is the basic color 04:30 you would have, this would be black, yes, 04:31 this would be black. The coloration that they would 04:33 have like this. Now tell me about reproduction with this? 04:36 These guys actually do lay eggs. They lay egg 04:39 casings actually when we change their dirt, 04:42 we have to keep it in a freezer for a couple of days 04:44 just to make sure because if we throw it away 04:46 the eggs can actually hatch introducing a whole new 04:49 species in the East Tennessee, which we don't 04:50 wanna do. So instead we hold off on that, these 04:53 guys when they hatch out they start out very, very 04:55 tiny, but they grow quickly eating leaf, leaf litter 04:58 just like their adults. It takes them about, between 05:02 6 and 7 years before they are actually full adults 05:06 and after that they only live a couple of years. 05:07 So, they live between 9 and 10 years usually on 05:10 an average. That is to me is just an amazing thing 05:13 and these are all so tiny and they go to their size 05:16 and to imagine that this size that's the thing that 05:18 impresses me. I know that's what, that's what they're 05:20 trying for, but like I said, the adult life they only 05:22 have a couple of years. So pretty much they, they live 05:24 most of their life in childhood and you know 05:27 in young adulthood and then they reach adults, 05:30 then they only live for a couple of years after that. 05:31 And much, much the same as we have another, 05:32 like in fishes with Salmon, what have you like that? 05:35 Different things like that, yeah. Okay, now tell me 05:38 are there many animals and predators, but you have 05:42 covered that haven't you said that they have a very 05:43 bad taste? Yeah, they have a pretty bad taste. 05:46 I can't say they are some animals who use them 05:49 they like to use them for medicines and stuff. 05:51 There are different types of primates that will 05:52 actually lick them, we haven't really found out 05:55 why, but they do that everyone know, but their 05:58 predators are things that like to eat insects. 06:00 Hedgehogs love to eat insects. They will eat these 06:03 bugs. Scorpions would eat them, different animals 06:07 like that, some small cats if they get a chance they 06:09 they would eat these guys. To me what I see 06:13 the locomotion when I see all of these feet, somehow 06:16 that's all synchronized, isn't it? Yeah, I tell you 06:19 it's usually like the wave. Think about the wave 06:21 in a football game. You watch it spread all the way 06:23 around, the auditorium, it's a same idea that's how 06:26 there legs work. If they lifted all their legs on one 06:28 side at one time, they just fall over, so that 06:30 would be no good. And I can fill it as it goes along, 06:32 I can feel that way right there. Yeah, yeah. 06:34 Okay, wonderful boys and girls we learned something 06:36 more about God's creature today. So, this is Ranger 06:39 Jim as always telling you; don't forget to tell Jesus 06:42 that you love him because he really does love you. 06:55 Behold God is great. For he maketh small the drops 06:59 of water: they pour down rain according to the 07:01 vapour thereof: Which the clouds do drop upon man 07:05 abundantly. Job 35:27-28. Have you heard the 07:15 raindrops drumming on the rooftops'? Have you heard 07:19 the raindrops dripping on the ground? Have you heard 07:23 the raindrops splashing in the streams And running 07:27 to the rivers all around? There's water, water of life, 07:35 Jesus gives us the water of life; There's water, 07:41 water of life, Jesus gives us the water of life; 07:48 There's a busy workman digging in the desert, 07:52 Digging with a spade that flashes in the sun: 07:56 Soon there will be water rising in the well shaft, 08:00 Spilling from the bucket as it comes. 08:04 There's water, water of life, Jesus gives us 08:11 the water of life; There's water, water of life 08:17 Jesus gives us the water of life; Nobody can 08:23 live who hasn't any water, When the land is dry then 08:28 nothing much grows; Jesus gives us life if we drink 08:33 the living water, Sing it so that everybody knows. 08:38 There's water, water of life, Jesus gives us 08:44 the water of life; There's water, water of life, 08:50 Jesus gives us the water of life; 09:06 Welcome to Learning Time. I'm glad that you've 09:08 joined us today and today I've got Tyler with me 09:12 and he is gonna help us to do a very exciting 09:14 experiments, but you know we're gonna use some 09:17 matches. Should we be careful with matches? Oh! 09:21 Absolutely. We're gonna be real careful and I 09:23 happened to have our fire extinguisher just in case 09:25 we catch on fire we can get put out. But that's not 09:28 gonna happen today, is it? Oh! I hope not. Hey, let's 09:31 put on our safety glasses Tyler. Now I'm gonna have 09:34 Tyler hold this close pan and we've got a candle on it. 09:37 We're gonna put it right over this tray. I'm gonna 09:39 go ahead and light this candle right here and I love 09:43 birthday candles because that means that I am 09:45 another year old when that happens when I see 09:47 those. Now I happened to have a little cup. This cup 09:50 is made out of paper, and I put this one on a little 09:54 plastic close pin that's what these things are. Oh! 09:59 Something happened to our flame Tyler. We're gonna 10:01 go ahead and light this again because our candle 10:04 just doesn't wanna stay lit that's an interesting 10:06 thing. Okay, you did blow it out, did you? Yeah. 10:09 Well, next time make a wish, okay, here we go. 10:12 Now let's go ahead and get this ready. What would 10:14 happen do you suppose if I just held this paper cup 10:18 right over the flame what do you think would happen? 10:21 Do you think this is gonna burn up? Yeah. Well, 10:24 let's find out. Are you ready, Tyler? We're gonna 10:26 hold this right here just like this and we're gonna 10:29 catch Oh! Know. Well that paper cup, you know what 10:32 the paper cup is just going to burn right up. 10:35 That's an interesting thing. Isn't it? Well, I tell 10:38 you what? Let's do something just a little different. 10:41 Oh! Hey, that's a good way, go ahead and light your 10:43 candle right here because we got a little fire going 10:46 right there. And I'm gonna take my paper cup again. 10:50 Get it away from that real hot candle because 10:52 we don't want that whole thing to melt. Now this time 10:55 I'm gonna put a little bit of water in the bottom 10:58 of my cup not a lot of water just the little bit of water 11:02 right like that, in fact, you know, what I might have 11:04 too much water, let's pour a little bit of that water 11:06 out, I just need a little water at the bottom of my 11:09 paper cup. Now I'm gonna hold this over the flame 11:13 that Tyler is holding and we're gonna try to boil 11:16 some water in a paper cup. You think we can boil 11:19 water in our paper cup. No. Well, you usually use what? 11:23 A pan or something to boil water in and I'm gonna 11:26 hold it right here just above the candle just like that, 11:30 hey, that's interesting, now what's happening to my 11:33 paper cup. Turning black. It's turning black now 11:37 why is that paper cup turning black on the bottom? 11:40 Look at that it's just all black on the bottom of my 11:43 paper cup. Why is it turning black? No, it's not burning 11:48 at all. It's just that candle has a lot of carbon in it; 11:52 you know that wax has a lot of carbon in it and 11:55 some of that carbon isn't burning completely up and 11:58 so it's leaving my bottom of my paper cup black. 12:01 And you know, what's happening? If you look real, 12:04 real carefully, you know, what I can start seeing 12:07 some steam or some condensation it's coming 12:11 right out of my cup and if I should put my finger 12:14 in there, my finger would get burn because that 12:17 water right now in my paper cup is what is 212 12:23 degrees. It's boiling, that's the boiling temperature 12:26 of water on the Fahrenheit scale. On the Celsius scale, 12:29 its 100 degrees and that is boiling. Look inside of it 12:33 Tyler. We got little tiny bubbles and the bottom 12:36 of my cup is all black, but the cup doesn't get burned 12:39 up, isn't that interesting? And you know that reminds 12:43 me, do you know what keeps us from getting destroyed, 12:47 you know, it's Jesus, isn't it? He keeps us safe for 12:50 his kingdom He acts like that water and he seals us 12:54 from getting all burnt up oh, I think that's interesting 12:57 and I wanna be protected, do you? Yeah. Yeah. Hey 13:00 thank you, Tyler. When we learn about science, 13:03 we learn something new about our creator God. 13:07 Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all 13:19 thy soul, with all thy mind. King Joash, I shall return 13:26 later for the reading of the scrolls. Come on in. 13:37 I am just a kid like you. I am seven years old and I'm 13:40 king. How did I become king at such a young age? 13:45 I have sometime left and I'll tell you my story. 13:47 Just sit all around and here. Now let's see where should 14:01 I begin my story. Well, my father Ahaziah was not 14:09 a very good king. He prayed to idols and talked to 14:14 people to pray to idols. And my grandmother Athaliah 14:20 was bad influence on him. She did not read from 14:23 the holy scrolls and after my father died she decided 14:28 that she would become queen and she had all 14:31 the children, grandchildren and anyone related to her, 14:34 killed. She thought she would killed me too, but 14:42 before she did, my Aunt Jehosheba came and snuck 14:48 into my room one night and took me out of my crib 14:51 and motioned for my nurse to follow. They snuck pass 14:54 the guards. I think the angels were with them 14:59 because no one and I mean, no one can get pass 15:03 those guards. And then it took me back to the temple 15:08 and hide me, and they always sparse the door shut 15:11 during the day, and open them at night, so that I 15:13 could walk with my uncle Jehoiada in the temple 15:17 courtyards. And as I was walking in the courtyards, 15:21 I noticed that there were holes in the walls. I asked 15:24 my uncle why there were holes in the walls and he 15:27 told me if the wicked sons of queen Athaliah came 15:32 into our holes in the temple walls, so that they 15:33 can build the Temple of Baal and they took the holy 15:36 things out of God's house and put them in the 15:39 Temple of Baal, isn't that awful? But then one day 15:45 my uncle told our secret to some very important people. 15:49 And that I would be crowned king. And then one day 15:55 he brought me in front of all those people and as they 16:00 put the crown on my head Queen Athaliah came 16:04 running out, yelling to resign, to resign and orders 16:08 for her guards to kill me. But they took her out and 16:12 killed her instead and then all the people shouted 16:16 God save the king, God save the king, God save the king, 16:23 and then he put me on the throne and carried me 16:26 to my throne room. And look this throne is so big 16:31 and I am so little, look my feet can't even touch 16:34 the floor. Well, that's my story. Thanks for coming 16:42 it was nice to have some kids to talk too, bye. 16:51 King Joash. I've come to read the scrolls. 17:00 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days 17:04 shall thou labor, and do all thy work, but in it 17:08 the Lord made the seventh day holy and thou shall not 17:12 do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy manservant, 17:16 nor thy maidservant, nor thy stranger that is 17:19 within thy gates. For in six days the Lord made 17:23 the earth and all that in them is, but he rested 17:26 on the seventh day and hallowed it. 17:40 Kids under construction Maybe the paint is still wet. 17:47 Kids under construction The Lord may not be 17:52 finished yet. I more than just accident without 17:57 the cause; I more than just bodies and brains. 18:02 God made me on purpose; I'm part of his plan. 18:06 He cares and He knows me by name. Oh! Kids 18:13 under construction Maybe the paint is still wet. 18:19 Kids under construction The Lord may not be finished yet. 18:26 Now, mister, I know that I get in your way; 18:30 I'm noisy and just bug you so. See there's lots of 18:35 questions I just have to ask In I'm ever going to know. 18:41 Oh! Kids under construction Maybe the paint is still wet. 18:52 Kids under construction The Lord may not be finished yet. 19:00 Dear Jesus, please make us more patient and kind, 19:07 And help us to be more like You. And make room for all 19:16 other children of Yours, For they are still growing up, 19:23 too. Oh! Kids under construction Maybe 19:32 the paint is still wet. Kids under construction 19:39 The Lord may not be finished yet. 19:51 Hi, boys and girls, my book of the day is so 19:54 exciting I can't wait to show to you. This is 19:56 A Skunk by the Tail by Jerry D. Thomas, and you are 20:01 just gonna love these stories. Listen to this; 20:04 "I dare you to do it," Steven whispered to his cousin. 20:07 "I dared you first," Kyle hissed back. 20:11 Are you afraid?" Now a skunk can't spray you if 20:15 you pick it up by the tail can't it or can it? Oh! 20:20 You're gonna have to get this book to find out 20:22 the rest of this story, you know, a skunk by the tail 20:25 is the book, it's a book one of the great stories 20:28 for kids set and in each book the stories and pictures 20:31 will make you jump back, laugh out loud and keep 20:34 you guessing what will happen next. And you know 20:37 what they really will. So I encourage you boys and 20:39 and girls to get this book A Skunk by the Tail 20:42 and find out did they get sprayed or what? 20:46 Well, I am so happy to bring you some letters 20:48 today boys and girls. Hi, my name is P. Jyoti. 23:50 I am studying fifth class. I came from Maharashtra, 23:52 but I settled in Andhra Pradesh. Though I am 23:54 a Hindu, but I learnt about Jesus in Christian school. 23:59 So, I would like to share this truth with my 24:03 relatives and friends. Back to Brenda. 24:07 Oh! Thank you so much, isn't that precious? 24:10 Well, I have a letter here now from Eidorinian Parson 24:15 and she is from Georgia and let me show you 24:17 her picture. She is playing the piano. I will send you 25:02 those activity books and please keep sharing Jesus, 25:05 won't you. Alright, this one here is from let's see 25:09 the Philippines and this is from Lormor and let's see 25:14 what Lormor has to say, all the way from the 25:17 Philippines. Dear Mr. Brenda, I am Filipino 25:20 and I'll just say that when I do bad to others 25:25 I am so sorry and I will forgive others when they 25:27 do bad things to me. I'll just say our God thank you 25:30 for many blessings thou has given to us and please 25:34 help us everyday, love Lormor. Well, you know, 25:37 what that is a wonderful thing to do that whenever 25:39 we do something bad, we need to ask Jesus to forgive 25:41 us and boys and girls he will, he will forgive you. 25:44 There is nothing you can do that Jesus won't forgive 25:46 you because he knows your heart. He knows when you 25:49 really sorry and we need to be able to forgive others 25:52 too. God wants us to forgive others in seventy times 25:55 seven, it tells in the Bible. I want you to look that 25:57 up in the Bible and I am just gonna give you 25:59 a little challenge. You look that up, now Miss Brenda 26:02 knows, but I want you to tell me where it was 26:03 found. So you've read that to me okay. 26:06 Dear, Miss Brenda, my name is Chelsea. I just 26:08 turned 8 and I am going to have a little garden 26:11 in the spring. Oh!
