00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:06 looking for a friend like Jesus. 00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there, 00:13 let's tell them that He loves us so, 00:16 let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:24 Hi, boys and girls. 00:25 I have just been reading the most interesting story. 00:28 It's all about a boy named Joseph, 00:31 who grew up to be a powerful leader in a powerful country. 00:34 You can read the story for yourself. 00:36 It's in the Bible in the book called Genesis. 00:39 Did you know that Joseph once stood before a Pharaoh, 00:42 the King of a mighty land of Egypt 00:44 and he told him what the weather would be like 00:46 for the next 14 years? 00:49 That's right, I said 14 years. 00:51 You know, there is not a weather forecaster anyone 00:54 who would dare to predict the weather 00:55 for that length of time, isn't it? 00:58 So how did Joseph know 00:59 what the weather would be like for the next 14 years? 01:03 Well, there is only one answer to that. 01:05 And that's God knew. And God told him. 01:09 You know, Jesus is a wonderful God 01:11 and he knows everything that will happen in the future. 01:14 And that means that nothing can happen 01:17 that He doesn't already know about. 01:19 And God will take care of us 01:21 just as He took care of Joseph. 01:24 Isn't that good to know? 01:26 Well, today we're going to hear a story about 01:28 Joseph and some of the exciting things 01:30 that happened to him and his family, 01:32 but first let's take a trip to the Florida aquarium, 01:35 where Ranger Jim is going to show us an Octopus. 01:46 Hi, boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying 01:47 welcome to "Nature Time." 01:48 We're glad you can join us today. 01:49 We are at beautiful Florida Aquarium, at Tampa, Florida. 01:52 This aquarium gets Ranger Jim's Gold Star. 01:55 If you are in the Tampa area with your family, 01:57 stop by and see it. 01:59 It is just gorgeous. 02:00 This is my fried Eric here. Hi. 02:02 He is the senior biologist here at the aquarium. 02:05 Eric, tell us something about this beautiful creature. 02:07 Well, this is no ordinary octopus. 02:09 This is a giant Pacific octopus. 02:12 Wow, he is a big one. 02:13 Oh, yeah. I mean, giant hardly describes it. 02:16 Right now he is about 55 pounds. 02:18 But, you know, that this animal can get 02:19 about 20 feet across and about a 150 pounds. 02:24 Oh, oh. That's a big fellow. 02:25 He is huge. Now let's get a look at him. 02:27 Because most of the time when you see octopuses, 02:29 you don't see octopuses. 02:31 They are so good at their camouflage 02:33 and they're such "Houdinis", 02:34 and they hide so well that it's a rare treat to see 02:37 the octopus really crawling around like this. 02:40 I can tell you why? 02:41 First of all he is using those long eight legs 02:43 with all those suckers on it, 02:45 you can see them right there to navigate around. 02:48 But most of the time, 02:49 he is very good at just disappearing. 02:51 You can see an octopus for a moment 02:53 and you will rub your eyes and swear he was right there, 02:55 and he is gone. But he maybe, may be great and funny. 02:57 He is a real hoodoo then? 02:59 Oh, he is. True. These are escape artists. 03:02 This tank, it doesn't have a regular lid on it. 03:04 It's got, well you know, 03:05 when you weighed your feet on those Astroturf mats, 03:08 that's what it goes round the take and makes a wall. 03:10 They just can't get a grip on. 03:12 But that's all right because that makes it easier 03:14 for me to get up there and wrestle with him sometimes 03:17 or feed him his different types of food like crabs 03:20 and shrimp and lots of different types of fish. 03:22 Now tell me, he lives with all the clams in whole, 03:25 how does he get back into these clams and hide it? 03:27 Well, believe it or not, 03:29 this animal doesn't have any bones in it. 03:31 Now he is a mollusk. 03:33 And mollusks were familiar with, 03:34 well, look at those clams back there? 03:36 Right. Those could be his cousins. 03:38 They're related to him anyway. 03:40 They are in the same group called the Mollusca. 03:42 But that means that they have these fleshy bodies 03:44 and somewhere they've got a shell. 03:46 The clams got a shell on the outside. 03:48 But octopus has just a little tiny slipper of 03:50 a shell left over inside that big body. 03:52 What that means, is about, the only thing stopping him 03:55 from squeaking through a tiny hole are the size of 03:58 his eyes or his beak, which is right there. 04:01 Amazing! Right in there actually. 04:03 So what he uses, he chose food. 04:04 It's a beak like a parrot's beak. 04:06 But he can slip through a hole about that big. 04:09 Amazing, now you're saying this octopus 04:12 can go through a hole that size. 04:14 Even smaller, his beak is about like that. 04:16 Unbelievable. Right about as big as my eye. 04:18 So he can squirt right through there 04:20 and that way they can get from place to place 04:23 and find food way back in the holes with those long arms, 04:26 and escape from predators like sharks and eels. 04:29 Now tell me, I have seen documentary of these things 04:32 and they scuba dive and then they just jet and go away. 04:35 They're real escape artists again, 04:37 kind of a smoke screen like James Bond. 04:39 You might seen an octopus one moment and next thing, 04:41 if I'm a predator, all I see is a big dark blob 04:43 and I don't see the octopus that's lurking away. 04:46 He sneaks away. 04:47 So what they do is they have a sack inside full of ink 04:51 and they blow that cloud out into the water. 04:53 They disappear and then they sneak off to safety. 04:56 All right now. Tell me about the reproduction. 04:59 How do they have babies in the-- 05:00 These are some of the best mothers in the ocean. 05:02 This octopus is a boy. 05:04 But if he was a big girl octopus, 05:06 she would lay thousands of eggs. 05:09 And they hang them up like strings of grapes. 05:11 Like way back in that cave there would be a good place 05:13 for female to lay out all her eggs. 05:15 But then that's not the end of the story. 05:17 She stays around. 05:18 She protects those eggs from everything in the sea. 05:20 In fact, she doesn't even eat anymore 05:22 after she lays her eggs. 05:23 Amazing! Yep. 05:24 And after those eggs hatch out, you know, 05:26 the babies are only about the size of the grain of rice 05:28 and there are thousands of them. 05:30 All right, let's say this again boys and girls. 05:32 This is the expert and he said 05:33 this creature starting in life, 05:34 the size of a grain of rice. 05:37 Tiny, tiny little animal, 05:39 and it will get about that big in around a year. 05:41 They have to grow so fast because you can imagine, 05:44 we can eat grains and rice 05:45 everything else in the ocean can too. 05:47 So the quicker you get big, 05:49 the more likely you are to survive. 05:51 Then they live a couple of years or so. 05:53 And so they'll be grown up enough to lay their own eggs. 05:55 And you said that they could eat a clam, 05:56 they can break the shell? 05:58 They're actually strong enough to open that shell right up 06:01 and if they can't open it, 06:02 they can use that beak to kind of 06:04 gouge rate through that clam shell. 06:06 They've got all kinds of ways doing it. 06:08 This guy is strong, I can tell you, 06:09 because we've had some tug of wars. 06:11 Okay, tell me about this, about the enemies, 06:14 natural enemies of the octopus. 06:16 Sure, well, they're not too many when they get this big. 06:18 It's usually when they're little tiny, 06:20 when they're vulnerable. 06:21 But some animals like eels, moray eels, 06:23 like California moray eels, will try to eat an octopus. 06:26 Sometimes they loose a leg, 06:28 but they can regenerate that leg 06:30 and they can get back pretty well if they just settle up. 06:31 It grows back. Yeah. They can regenerate. 06:33 Yeah. It can grow back slowly. 06:35 It's absolutely incredible boys and girls. 06:37 It is a thrill to learn about these wonderful creatures 06:39 that God has made. 06:40 Boys and girls, I want to remind you 06:43 that we share this earth 06:44 with all of these wonderful creatures. 06:46 It's up to us to love and to care for them 06:49 and treat them with respect. 06:51 And so this is Ranger Jim as always telling you, 06:53 don't forget to tell Jesus that you love Him 06:56 because He really does love you. 07:06 [music] 07:21 Hello ladies. Hello. 07:24 What are these things? It's our Bibles. 07:27 Ah, you've got your Bible, 07:29 and you've got your Bible under your shirt. 07:31 Is there a reason you've got your Bible under your shirt? 07:33 Because we are keeping God's word in our heart. 07:36 Keeping God's word inside your heart. 07:40 That's one way to do it. 07:41 But I think Michelle is doing in a better way. 07:42 There is. And it's by joining Kids Club. 07:45 I'm a member and it's really fun. 07:47 Write to Miss Brenda, send her your name and address, 07:50 and she will send you these fun filled lessons 07:52 that you can go and send back to her. 07:54 When you get down with one section, 07:56 she will send you a special surprise. 07:58 And when you're all done you will get a Ranger Jim 08:01 nature activity book, which I'm sure will be really fun. 08:04 So guys want to sign up now? All right, here you go. 08:07 Thank you. Yeah. 08:09 Now for your Yasmine, have fun. Let's go and study. 08:12 So sign up today. 08:13 So we can all hide God's word inside our hearts. 08:20 I'm gonna hide God's Word inside my heart 08:24 And learn each verse from memory 08:28 I'm gonna hide God's Word inside my heart 08:32 Until this Word is part of me 08:36 God's Word will help me each and every day 08:40 To learn what is right from what is wrong 08:44 The more that I read, the more I learn of Him 08:47 And His Word will make me strong 08:51 That's why I'm gonna hide God's Word inside my heart 08:55 I'm gonna hide God's Word inside my heart 09:03 Until this Word is part of me 09:07 God's Word will help me each and every day 09:10 To learn what is right from what is wrong 09:14 The more that I read, the more I learn of Him 09:18 And His Word will make me strong 09:21 That's why I'm gonna hide God's Word inside my heart 09:25 And learn each verse from memory 09:29 I'm gonna hide God's Word inside my heart 09:33 Until this Word is part of me 09:48 Hello, boys and girls, welcome to Learning Time. 09:51 Today we've got a special program for you. 09:53 I'm glad that you are joining us today. 09:56 Can you tell me what you can feel 09:58 when you move your hands real fast? 10:00 What can you feel? Air. 10:03 Air, that's right. Can we see air? No! 10:06 No, I got some very special gas that we call Air. 10:09 In fact I've got it in some of these balloons over here. 10:12 Let's take a look at our first balloon. 10:14 In fact this is a green balloon. 10:17 And green is a wonderful color 10:19 and that green balloon has a gas in it, 10:22 that you and I sometimes use when we have a party. 10:25 What's in party balloons? 10:27 Does anybody know which gas in there? What does it? 10:29 Helium. It's helium gas. 10:31 So we're gonna do an experiment. 10:32 We're gonna find out if some of these gases 10:34 that we use is dangerous or if it safe. 10:38 Do you think helium is safe? 10:40 Oh yeah, but that's why we put it in party balloons. 10:44 I'm gonna take my match, 10:45 and we're gonna light these balloons. 10:47 And if you don't like popping balloons, 10:49 all you have to do is to cover your ears. 10:51 Are you ready? 10:53 All right, how about this three, two, one. 10:54 Let's pop this balloon- three, two, one and. 10:59 It just popped. Did it explode? No! 11:01 No, it didn't explode because helium is a very safe gas. 11:06 But you know what, I've got another gas right here. 11:09 And let's take a look at this balloon. 11:10 This is of orange color, 11:13 almost the color of your shirts. 11:15 And this orange balloon has a different gas inside of it. 11:19 In fact, that gas happens to be part of the gases 11:23 when God created the Earth and He created 11:25 the solar system, it was one of the gases 11:28 that makes up most of our atmosphere. 11:30 Now I have a very long stick right here. 11:33 It's long because I don't want to be that close 11:35 to that balloon when it explodes. 11:37 Are you ready for this? 11:39 Yeah, all right, go ahead 11:40 and put your hands over your ears. 11:42 And you put your hands over your ears too boys and girls. 11:46 And let's see if we can get this going. 11:48 How about our three, two, one, are we ready? 11:51 Three, two, one and--- 11:56 Wow! Did it explode? Yeah. 11:59 It exploded because we had a gas in there 12:02 called hydrogen gas. 12:04 It makes up most of the gases in our whole solar system. 12:08 Now, I've got a real special mixture of gases. 12:11 I have a red balloon over there. 12:13 Let's take a look at this red balloon. 12:15 And red is kind of a color that kind of 12:18 means danger sometime. 12:20 Well this red balloon has a mixture of gases in it. 12:24 It has oxygen that you and I breathe. 12:26 I want to take a deep breathe, and out. 12:30 We mix that oxygen with some of the hydrogen gas 12:34 and it is it extremely powerful. 12:37 Are you ready for this? Yeah! 12:39 All right. I'll tell you what? 12:40 Put your hands over your ears. 12:42 It's gonna be really loud. 12:44 Here we go. Three, two, one and-- 12:48 Wow! Did you hear that? Do you know what? 12:53 God has made so many different gases. 12:55 When we combine them together, 12:57 they can be extremely powerful, can't they? 13:00 Yeah. Absolutely. 13:02 And boys and girls, every time 13:04 we learn something new about science. 13:06 We're learning something about our creator God. 13:18 I saw the Governor's Cup, his silver cup. 13:21 You see my father is Governor Joseph's steward. 13:26 He takes care of all of the Governors' things. 13:29 He works very hard especially with everyone 13:32 coming to Egypt to buy food. 13:35 Well that is why my mother sent me 13:38 to the palace storehouses today to hold, 13:40 so we wouldn't go hungry. 13:45 Everyone would be going hungry if Governor Joseph's 13:48 God hadn't said that there would be seven years of plenty 13:52 and seven years of famine. 13:55 Father said that everything has happened 14:00 as Governor Joseph's God said it would. 14:04 For the last seven years, we have had so much food 14:08 that we can even give it away, 14:10 and no one would even buy it from us. 14:13 But Governor Joseph's God knows everything. 14:17 And he told Governor just what to do with all the extra food. 14:21 He told them to built lots of storehouses to hold the food, 14:26 so no one will go hungry. 14:29 Now that there is no food, 14:31 everyone is coming to Egypt to buy food. Including me. 14:38 Well that is how I got to see the Governor's Cup. 14:43 When I got back to the palace there were eleven men, 14:47 begging and pleading with my father to help them. 14:50 My father held up the Governors' Cup 14:52 and said to the younger men 14:54 why did you steal the Governor's Cup? 14:57 How could you do this after the Governor has been 14:59 so good to you? 15:01 You are a thief. 15:03 The younger men was crying and saying 15:04 no, no, please believe me. 15:06 I didn't steal it. 15:08 and the older men into the palace room in 15:12 where the Governor was sitting on his throne. 15:16 I'm not allowed in that room, 15:18 but I peeked through around one of the big pillars 15:21 to see what was happening. 15:23 All of the men bowed down to Governor Joseph. 15:27 Governor Joseph had a mean look on his face. 15:31 I thought those men were really bad men 15:33 because the Governor never looked like that. 15:35 He always smiles at me and even lets me sit on his lap. 15:42 I love Governor Joseph. 15:44 He is good and kind just like his God. 15:48 As I watched those men, one of the older ones stood up 15:52 and began talking to Governor Joseph. 15:55 I couldn't understand what he was saying, 15:58 but whatever it was, all at once Governor Joseph 16:01 stood up I mean and ordered everyone out of the courtroom. 16:06 Governor was so shocked because they were supposed 16:09 to protect the Governor. 16:11 But they also had to do what he said. 16:14 So as soon as they all left the room, 16:17 Governor Joseph stood up and said something 16:20 and began hugging all those men. 16:23 I couldn't believe it because Governor 16:26 didn't have a mean face now. 16:28 He was smiling and laughing and hugging all those men. 16:33 I thought that was a very strange way 16:35 for the Governor to act. 16:37 I ran to find my father. 16:40 I wanted to know who those men were. 16:42 I wanted to know why the Governor was so happy 16:46 that he want those men to just take his silver cup. 16:49 When I found my father, he was happy too, 16:55 when he told me that the Governor told him 17:00 to put his silver cup in the younger man's sac. 17:04 Though my father told me that those men were his brothers. 17:11 And that they live in the land of Canaan, 17:14 where the Governor lived long ago 17:16 before his God sent him to Egypt. 17:22 I love Governor Joseph's God. 17:27 Father said that, that is the great God in heaven 17:30 who saved us from the famine. 17:34 He said that Governor Joseph's God wants to be our God too. 17:41 I learned a song about this God. 17:44 Oh! Oh! Do you want me to sing it? Okay. 17:49 Joseph's God is an awesome God 17:53 He reigns from heaven above With wisdom, power and love 18:02 Joseph's God is an awesome God 18:06 Our God is an awesome God He reigns from heaven above 18:13 With wisdom, power and love Our God is an awesome God 18:21 Our God is an awesome God 18:27 Every time I sing that song it makes me want to know 18:31 this great God even more. 18:33 I hope you will want to know Him too. 18:36 Oh! I better get going me 18:38 because my mother will be waiting for this corn. 18:41 Besides, I want to tell about the Governor's Cup.
