00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:07 looking for a friend like Jesus.
00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:13 let's tell them that He loves us so,
00:17 let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time.
00:24 Don't be afraid it's only me,
00:27 and I am really glad to be with you today.
00:30 But I don't think you'd want me to visit you
00:32 if I were an ugly monster, would you?
00:35 Our Bible story today tells of a man
00:37 who lived a horrible life.
00:39 He had turned into a monster and simply terrified everyone.
00:44 Today people would say it was crazy,
00:46 a danger to society.
00:48 And would probably give him some sort of medicine
00:50 to keep him kind of sleepy and weak all the time
00:53 so that he couldn't hurt anyone.
00:55 But this man didn't need medicine.
00:57 You know what he needed, he needed Jesus.
01:01 You see just as Jesus is real, so is Satan and his helpers
01:05 and they had gained control over this poor man
01:08 had turned him into this monster.
01:11 But something absolutely marvelous
01:13 happened when he met Jesus.
01:16 You will have to listen and learn all about it
01:18 in today's Bible story.
01:19 But first, lets listen as Ranger Jim tells us about
01:23 how to grow bananas.
01:32 Hi, boys and girls. Look what we have today.
01:35 I'll bet you've never seen this before growing on a tree
01:39 you've probably seen them
01:40 often maybe one of your favorite foods,
01:42 it's one of mine.
01:43 And I'll bet you that you've got them some time
01:46 and it says Chiquita brand on there.
01:48 Our children used to like to take that off
01:50 and put it right up on their forehead
01:52 and walk around wearing that. Okay.
01:54 These are very small, these are called Lady Finger Bananas
01:59 and they're grown here in Florida,
02:00 this is a subtropical climate.
02:02 And we have many of these here.
02:04 The fact is we have potluck after church sometimes
02:07 and some of the native people that live here
02:08 will bring these and we all enjoy them.
02:11 And they're just tiny little miniature bananas
02:13 is what they are and those on this tree
02:16 are much larger than the ones I'm holding in my hand.
02:18 But the banana, this is a regular sized banana
02:22 your mother would buy in a store bring home for you.
02:24 And have you noticed some of them be quite small
02:27 and others maybe quite long.
02:28 That depends, they're all of same variety,
02:31 that depends upon the health of the plant.
02:33 Like with apples or oranges or anything like that.
02:36 We have apple trees in our yard at home
02:38 and some of the smaller trees,
02:40 they don't have the root system
02:41 and don't get the nutrition,
02:42 and so they don't have as large apples
02:44 but that is the difference.
02:45 But these in Florida are a different variety
02:48 and you can see on this tree
02:50 that I'm standing by that there are frost damage.
02:52 You see all the dead branches and what have you,
02:55 and that's because we had a frost this past February.
02:58 And if you live in the northern part
03:00 of United States and you say,
03:01 well that's a big deal, well it is in Florida.
03:03 My wife and I had spent our winters here
03:05 for the last seventeen years.
03:06 We've seen it frost just four times,
03:10 and so in the winter time here its nice and warm in Florida.
03:13 Now, we have some other plants
03:15 and these plants are obliviously
03:17 that they have been injured by the frost that we had
03:20 and the landowner has trimmed them back severally.
03:23 And so all that you see on these plants
03:26 are just the banana stock itself.
03:28 And then I would like to call your attention to this plant,
03:31 the beautiful blossom
03:33 that's hanging down on the fruit stock itself,
03:36 and the local people call this an ox heart,
03:39 like that of a beef heart or something hanging down.
03:42 And you can see still part of the remnant
03:44 of the beautiful blossom on it there.
03:47 That's hanging down.
03:48 And so this is a beautiful site,
03:50 we enjoy it very, very much.
03:52 These plants, if you are interested in gardening,
03:54 some older children are, for you your older children.
03:58 And we have boys and girls,
03:59 we have many people that contact us
04:01 at Kids Time and say, we are 85 or 90 years old
04:04 and we love Kids Time.
04:06 And so I will just include that
04:07 for some of the older folk that maybe gardeners,
04:10 that this plant has the tolerance for frost about
04:13 that of a green bell pepper or something like that.
04:15 So you gardeners would know that
04:17 it does not tolerate cold weather.
04:20 This is a subtropical and it likes acid soil,
04:24 it grows here in Florida well
04:25 because it has all of the sand and what have you.
04:28 And it does well here.
04:30 But it is limited in the range where you can grow it.
04:34 You can grow pineapples in the same range
04:36 that you can grow this.
04:37 But here in Florida, my wife and I
04:39 enjoy this going along the canal.
04:41 Always when we have company come,
04:43 I like to just pull up aside a tree like this
04:45 and just stop the boat and say, what do you see?
04:47 And people look at the tree and suddenly
04:49 they look at the tree and they say,
04:51 but the bananas are growing wrong, they're growing up.
04:55 We always, before you see a banana tree,
04:57 we always think of as perhaps
04:59 the fruit will be pointing down,
05:01 but the fruit as you can see is not,
05:03 it grows up like that.
05:04 And so I always enjoy that, by bringing company here,
05:07 they have never seen a banana tree.
05:09 My wife and I, when we first came to
05:11 Florida seventeen years before,
05:13 we had never seen oranges growing on a tree.
05:16 So if you live in the part of the country
05:19 you will be living in a part of the world
05:20 where bananas are as common as the apples
05:23 are to most boys and girls.
05:25 But for people who have never seen them,
05:27 they are very, very unusual.
05:29 So I hope this afternoon, boys and girls,
05:31 that you have enjoyed learning about the banana plants
05:34 and I hope that you will keep eating them,
05:36 because they are good for you.
05:38 They make you strong and they make you healthy.
05:41 And so when your mom gets them and brings them home.
05:43 I know what you like to do,
05:45 we just like to peel them back like this.
05:47 And Ranger Jim loves them on his cereal in the morning.
05:51 And Ranger Jim's wife favorite thing with bananas,
05:55 she takes a banana like that
05:57 and a little crunchy peanut butter
05:58 on a knife and you try that.
06:01 Just put a little crunchy peanut butter
06:03 on there and try that.
06:04 Bananas and peanut butter's yummy, yummy, yummy.
06:09 So another wonderful food boys and girls,
06:11 we're glad you can join us today.
06:13 Jesus loves you, don't forget that.
06:15 And don't forget to tell Jesus that you love Him
06:18 because He really does love you.
06:29 Hello, boys and girls,
06:30 I am here with Rachel and Cindy Barrett.
06:34 There is a lot of kids in your family, how many are there?
06:37 Well, there is Tom, Mark,
06:39 Sarah, Rachel, Cindy, and Bobby.
06:46 That's sounds like a very, very nice family.
06:50 Boys and girls, they say that
06:52 family is a friend that God gives us.
06:55 I'm so glad that he gave us Jesus, our forever friend.
07:09 Tell the world that Jesus loves you
07:13 Tell them you've found a forever friend
07:17 You've opened up your heart's door to Him
07:21 The love of Jesus has no end
07:32 You can choose to not to believe in
07:36 You can deny there's a heaven above
07:40 Once you take a look at Jesus
07:43 There's no denying that God is Love. So,
07:48 Tell the world that Jesus loves you
07:51 Tell them you've found a forever friend
07:55 You've opened up your heart's door to Him
07:59 The love of Jesus has no end
08:10 If you want to show that you really love Him
08:14 If you want to show that your love is true
08:19 Then you'll obey the word He's spoken
08:22 And do all the things He's commanded you to
08:26 Tell the world that Jesus loves you
08:30 Tell them you've found a forever friend
08:34 You've opened up your heart's door to Him
08:38 The love of Jesus has no end
08:55 Hi, today we're making pancakes.
08:57 They're not only delicious pancakes
08:58 but they're healthy too.
09:00 Let me put up this recipe on the screen for you.
09:03 [Recipe appear on the screen]
09:29 Now we're gonna start with our dry ingredients
09:31 and I have some regular, some white flour here,
09:35 all purpose flour, and some whole wheat flour.
09:41 Now, I have here some soy good powder
09:44 and you can use any brand of soy...
09:46 soy milk you like, powder,
09:49 but this is soy good because I love it
09:51 and I think it tastes the best and most like milk.
09:55 Put that in, and our baking powder and our salts.
10:03 And we'll mix those all up,
10:07 then we're gonna add our wet ingredients.
10:10 You kind of wanna make a whole or a well in the center
10:15 and then we're gonna add our wet ingredients.
10:16 Our water and our apple sauce,
10:25 put that all over there.
10:28 And our canola oil, and our maple syrup.
10:37 Get those all mixed up.
10:39 Now, when I was up at my grandparent's house,
10:42 I made my grandma breakfast for our mother's day.
10:47 And she loves, she doesn't like just any pancakes,
10:50 she loves whole wheat she loves...
10:53 She doesn't like just regular wheat like flour.
10:56 And so I decided to make you some
10:58 of kind of like the ones that I made her.
11:01 They're, oh! Trying to get some on you,
11:04 and they're delicious.
11:07 Also, you know, how,
11:08 sometimes when you buy them in the store, they're just not.
11:11 They're not as, those are not very good.
11:13 Sometimes they don't, they're dry or they...
11:15 they just don't taste very good.
11:16 Well these are very, are just delicious
11:19 and you are gonna love them.
11:21 When you get it all mixed up.
11:24 I have a hot pan or a skillet already here, a non-stick pan.
11:28 If you don't have a non-stick pan
11:29 you're gonna wanna spray it
11:31 with some non-stick cooking spray.
11:34 Pour a little bit on here,
11:39 just enough to make a good sized pancake.
11:46 Now, you gonna want to cook this not too much
11:48 because they can get too brown on the bottom
11:51 and they'll get too dry and hard.
11:54 Just enough.
11:56 Now pancakes, you can put anything on them.
11:59 You can put your favorite fruit sauce.
12:01 You can put a little of all natural peanut butter,
12:04 maybe some naturally sweetened jam.
12:07 Anything you like on pancakes,
12:09 you can put on these pancakes.
12:11 They're not quite done.
12:15 Now ever since I was growing up
12:16 I always had pancakes and the best kind are whole wheat,
12:19 they just taste the best and when they're homemade
12:21 they always taste better than in a box
12:23 or just regular white pancakes.
12:25 Whole wheat are best, they taste the best.
12:29 They look about done.
12:34 This side, scoop it up and turn it over.
12:40 They should look a little bit golden on the other side.
12:44 You can try not to splat it, if you don't pick it up
12:47 so high and dropped it won't splatter like that.
12:50 And once it's all finished, let it cook for a second here.
12:58 I have a plate, put it on, this pancake gets done.
13:11 Go ahead, pick it up, I just put a plate.
13:19 Well, it kind of broke a little bit,
13:21 but they, if you get them, maybe even cook a little more
13:25 sometimes it, well I won't do that.
13:27 But they are delicious, you need to try them,
13:29 you can have them.
13:30 I like them even for supper, pancakes for supper
13:33 with maybe some fruit sauce
13:34 or some all natural peanut butter,
13:35 they are delicious, you really should try them.
13:37 Well, until next time, keep cooking and eat healthy.
13:49 Oh! No.
13:51 Wait, wait, don't go away.
13:53 Let me talk with you.
13:55 I'm changed, I met Jesus, come here, please.
14:00 You do look a little different. Yes.
14:02 It's me, but it's not me.
14:04 Come here. You do look changed.
14:07 Yeah, yeah.
14:08 I gotta tell you a story, have you got time?
14:09 Yes, tell me. Please.
14:11 I can't believe this.
14:14 Do you remember that really stormy night we had.
14:18 Yeah. Yeah.
14:19 Well, the next morning a boat came to shore,
14:25 Jesus, you know from Nazareth.
14:28 Yes, I know Him.
14:30 He was there. His disciples.
14:33 I can't remember it clearly, because I was,
14:35 I was crazy, I was possessed.
14:38 I just remember little snatches.
14:40 So it's a fragmented story, but this is what I remember.
14:45 You know, how I hung out at the graveyard there? Yeah.
14:48 And when people came to shore.
14:51 I immediately rushed after them.
14:53 Well, I did the same thing.
14:54 Yeah, that's what, that's what I was scared of you.
14:56 I went right after them.
14:58 Everyone of the disciples just ran as I remember,
15:01 and Jesus just went like this.
15:05 And I fell back.
15:08 Why?
15:10 That's the part I don't even remember.
15:12 The next thing I remember is I'm sitting at His feet.
15:17 He's telling me how much God loves me
15:20 and forgives me and you didn't attack Him?
15:24 It was gone, and it was gone, for years
15:27 and I know it was my own stupid decisions.
15:28 I got myself in the situation for years I've been that way,
15:32 I don't know how long, I've lost track of time.
15:34 But now it's all are different. It's all...
15:38 You need to tell, you are different. Yes.
15:40 Now, please, please, I've gotta tell you something.
15:43 They are some people that are against Jesus.
15:47 Do you remember, you remember that, that pig news.
15:50 All those pigs were running into the water remember that?
15:52 Yes, yes. They were mad.
15:53 Those pig herders were most excited about losing their,
15:57 they're not excited but mad...
15:59 Upset, about losing their pigs,
16:01 then about a human being that was restored.
16:04 It's like, it's they were worshiping the pig in place
16:09 of... ah! And I wanted to live with Jesus.
16:10 I said Jesus please just get me out of here
16:13 and when He went to get on His boat again.
16:16 I walked right along beside Him.
16:18 I want to get on the boat and He rised His hand again.
16:21 This time He said, no, you need to stay right where you are,
16:28 until your friends and neighbors
16:32 what great things God has done. No.
16:34 Just take me with you, couldn't you have 13 disciples?
16:37 He said no, you should stay.
16:40 And that's what you are doing.
16:41 That's what I am doing.
16:42 Do you believe my story, can you, can you accept.
16:45 It's obviously that you're different,
16:46 I have peace and a joy inside I...I just,
16:50 I can't wait to see Jesus again.
16:53 I don't know when he's gonna be back.
16:54 And people many, many people have believed my story.
16:57 I have never even heard Him speak a sermon.
17:00 But I have just told them my experience
17:03 and they've accepted Jesus.
17:05 Have you accepted Jesus? Yes.
17:07 I have. Oh! Please.
17:09 And it is so great to see you.
17:12 Well, so well.
17:13 I am having a hard time with some of the town people,
17:16 because they, they still think
17:17 I'm gonna just freak out again and beat somebody I'm not.
17:22 But it's been weeks and I just I spend time
17:27 walking along the water.
17:29 I revisit the very spot where I met Him.
17:34 I've got peace like a river.
17:37 I can see that you are a changed man.
17:40 Yeah, yeah, you know,
17:41 what Jesus said? What did He say?
17:43 He said, one day, He is gonna come back to this town
17:47 and I want to be here introduce Him to all the people
17:50 who have become followers of the way since He left.
17:55 I can wait to see Him.
17:57 I can't wait to see Him too.
17:59 Yeah, what a great day that would be.
18:11 I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
18:15 Where? Down in my heart!
18:17 Where? Down in my heart!
18:19 I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
18:23 Where? Down in my heart to stay.
18:27 I got the love of Jesus, love of Jesus,
18:30 Down in my heart
18:31 Where? Down in my heart
18:33 Where? Down in my heart
18:35 I have the love of Jesus, love of Jesus,
18:38 Down in my heart
18:39 Where? Down in my heart to stay
18:43 I know the devil doesn't like it
18:46 But it's down there to stay
18:47 Where? Down there to stay
18:50 Where? Down there to stay
18:51 I know the devil doesn't like it
18:53 But it's down there to stay
18:55 Down there to stay always.
19:10 Thank you Caitlin for that song,
19:11 I have the joy, joy, joy.
19:13 You know what, boys and girls.
19:15 We should all have the joy, joy, joy right down
19:17 in our heart shouldn't we?
19:19 Well I have a joy and I have somebody else here
19:21 that has joy in their hearts and that's Jonathan.
19:23 Hi, Jonathan.
19:24 Are you excited to be on Kids Time today? You are.
19:27 Tell me, what do you do to share Jesus?
19:30 I passed out tracks in my neighborhood.
19:32 You passed out tracks in your neighborhood,
19:34 now what is a track?
19:36 They're little booklets,
19:37 that you can fit them in your pocket, they're really small.
19:40 They're really small and I give it to my neighbors.
19:43 And what did the book say? What's it about?
19:46 The first one is about Jesus is coming again.
19:49 Second is about reading the Bible.
19:52 Reading the Bible?
19:53 So you're really, you're passing out
19:55 little books about Jesus to people aren't you?
19:58 And what do people say when you hand them those books?
20:01 They say, thank you very much.
20:02 Did you ever have anybody say,
20:04 I don't want it and give it back it to you? No.
20:06 No, that everybody took it.
20:08 And everyone seemed happy about it.
20:10 What would you do if somebody handed it back,
20:12 what would you say?
20:17 Well, I say. I would say.
20:19 Would you tell them it's a really good book
20:21 and try to give it back to him.
20:22 Or would you say, that's okay have a good day?
20:25 I would say that's okay.
20:27 Have a good day and I will leave.
20:28 Yeah, it's no problem.
20:30 So, you can't, you don't need to afraid do you,
20:32 boys and girls, when you, when you go out
20:34 and like if you were out pass out little books about Jesus.
20:37 And somebody didn't want it.
20:38 You just say, that's okay,
20:39 have a good day, it's all right.
20:40 And then when you walk away you have special prayer
20:42 for that person that Jesus will touch their heart.
20:45 You can do that, you always want to pray
20:47 don't you, Jonathan?
20:48 That's how old are you, Jonathan?
20:50 Seven and half. You're seven and half.
20:52 And what grade are you going into school?
20:54 Second grade, going into second grade.
20:57 Are you excited about second grade?
20:59 Yeah. Awesome.
21:00 Are you excited about serving Jesus?
21:02 Aha! Aha! I am too.
21:03 Well, you know, I have some letters here
21:05 do you like to help me read them.
21:06 I have a picture I would like you to help me hold up,
21:09 can you do that?
21:10 And let's see, this says, dear Miss Brenda,
21:12 and it's from Jamaica in the West Indies.
21:14 It seems I'm 11-years-old and I share Jesus
21:17 by telling my friends about Him.
21:19 And I love Kids Time and I think
21:20 that you have a really good program.
21:22 My brother loves it too
21:24 and Jesus wants everybody to know about Him.
21:26 Please send me an activity book, love, Janelle.
21:29 Well, thank you Janelle, I will take that picture
21:31 from you and your right Jesus does want all of us
21:35 to know about Him doesn't He.
21:36 All right, there is another letter from Alisa
21:39 and she is from Dunlap, Tennessee.
21:41 Let's see what Alisa says,
21:42 and she's got pretty flowers on the back of that envelop,
21:45 isn't that pretty.
21:46 Nice and colorful too. So pretty.
21:49 All right, let's see what this letter says,
21:51 we have a nice pretty bookmark too isn't that nice.
21:53 Is God loves me and it says dear Miss Brenda
21:56 I would like to be part of the Bible club.
21:58 I share Jesus by making paper bookmarks with my friends,
22:01 Mitchell and Isabel and my two sisters, Anna and Vashtie.
22:05 We gave them out in vespers.
22:06 Please send us activity books for all of us.
22:09 I love Kids Time. Love, Alisa.
22:11 Well, I would be happy to send you all activity books
22:13 and you know what else,
22:15 I am gonna send you some bookmarks too.
22:16 Well, right now before I read anymore letters,
22:19 I want to go all the way to Alabama and Matt
22:22 is going to tells us how he shares Jesus.
22:26 Hi, Miss Brenda, I'm from Decatur, Alabama.
22:28 My name is Matt.
22:30 How I share Jesus is I bring my friends
22:32 to Sabbath school with me
22:34 and I sit beside them, they liked it.
22:36 Share about Jesus, I really tell them about Jesus
22:39 and that's how I share Jesus.
22:42 Thank you, Matt, I appreciate that.
22:45 And I have a letter here I would like to share with you
22:47 and this is from Martel, Nebraska I believe.
22:51 And, let's see it says, I love Jesus
22:54 and let's see who it's from, this is Stephanie.
22:57 Let's look at a picture of Stephanie,
22:58 well actually you gonna hold up that up for me?
23:00 And it says, I share Jesus at the Public school
23:04 and I go to being... and I try to be
23:06 thoughtful to my classmates and being kind even
23:08 when they choose not to be kind to me.
23:10 You know, boys and girls that's always easy
23:12 isn't it to be kind to someone that's nice to you.
23:15 But it's not always easy to be kind to somebody
23:17 that's kind of mean to us is it?
23:18 But Jesus wants us to be kind to those that are mean to us.
23:22 Doesn't He? He doesn't want us to be mean back.
23:24 So thank you so much for that.
23:26 I'll take that picture from you, Jonathan, thank you.
23:28 And we'll open another one here.
23:32 Oh, let's see, which one shall I read.
23:33 There are so many nice letters.
23:34 This one is from Takoma Park, Maryland.
23:36 And it is from Rachel, let's see what Rachel has to say.
23:40 This says, dear Miss Brenda,
23:42 I share Jesus by inviting my friends
23:44 and their brothers to vacation Bible school
23:46 and I really like your program especially
23:48 cooking time with Catie and sharing time.
23:50 Love, Rachel. And I'm ten years old.
23:53 Please send me an activity book
23:54 and also pray for my handicap sister.
23:57 Well, thank you, Rachel.
23:58 And you know what, boys and girls, I always see,
24:00 there's a lot of power in prayer isn't there,
24:03 and I want everyone to pray for Rachel's sister
24:05 who's handicapped, okay.
24:07 And let's see there is one here let's try this one,
24:10 this one is from Bethany in Reading, Pennsylvania.
24:13 And let's read this.
24:16 This one here says, dear Miss Brenda,
24:18 this is a note to tell you how I share Jesus.
24:20 I take good care of my cat and my dog
24:23 and I found a caterpillar which I put in a cup,
24:25 we showed it to mom and then we let it go.
24:28 I love to worship God when I can't go to Sabbath school.
24:32 I play Sabbath school with my great grandma
24:34 and I also watch you on 3ABN.
24:36 When I was visiting my grandee,
24:38 her neighbor got locked out and I prayed
24:41 and he couldn't find his way into his apparent and he did.
24:45 Thank you so much, love, Bethany, I'm six years old.
24:49 Well, you know what, Jesus does answers prayers,
24:51 and I am glad that you thought to pray whenever...
24:53 But, you know what, don't you just pray
24:54 when we are in trouble, boys and girls.
24:55 We need to pray to Jesus all the time,
24:58 'cause He likes to hear from us all the time,
25:01 not just when we're in trouble.
25:02 And it's really important that
25:03 when Jesus does answer prayer for us.
25:05 It's important that we thank Him too, isn't it.
25:08 And we want to always thank Jesus.
25:09 This one is from Jennifer in West Gardiner, Maine.
25:12 And I think Jennifer drew me a picture and yes, she did.
25:16 And she's got a picture of a horse here out in the farm
25:19 with a fence and there is a cat on the fence
25:21 and he's saying meow.
25:22 Isn't that cute?
25:24 And let's what she says in her letter.
25:27 She says, dear Ms. Brenda,
25:29 my name is Jennifer and I'm ten years old.
25:31 I enjoy your show so very much,
25:33 what I enjoy most is story time
25:35 and I like to listen to the other kids' mail.
25:38 Sometimes I get invited to do things on Sabbath
25:41 with my friends and I explain to them
25:43 how I keep Sabbath holy.
25:45 Could I please one of your activity books?
25:47 Thank you, from Jen.
25:48 Well thank you Jen for your letter.
25:50 You know, I'm glad that you're witnessing
25:51 to your friends about Sabbath
25:53 because Jesus wants us to keep
25:54 the seventh day Sabbath, doesn't He.
25:56 Because He...
25:57 And when we say keep it that means keep it holy,
25:59 there's a lot of things we do it all during the week
26:01 that we don't do on Sabbath.
26:03 Because we want to do everything on Sabbath
26:04 that makes us think about Jesus
26:07 and draws us closer to Jesus, don't we.
26:09 Well that's about all the time we had today, boys and girls.
26:12 I want to thank you for joining me.
26:14 Thank you Jonathan for being with me here
26:16 today on Kids Time.
26:17 I'm glad you came.
26:18 Boys and girls, I want to encourage you,
26:20 wherever you are and whatever you do,
26:22 remember its Kids Time to share Jesus.
