00:03 It's time to share there's a world out
00:06 there, looking for a friend like Jesus,
00:10 it's time to share there's a world out there.
00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:17 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time.
00:24 Hi boys and girls, just look at this,
00:27 have you ever seen a sword before?
00:30 This one belongs to my friend Trent;
00:31 and he let me bring it today so
00:32 I can show it to you. You probably seen
00:35 pictures of swords or maybe you might have
00:37 visited a museum where swords were on display.
00:40 But the fact is that swords in the modern
00:43 world have become rather antique.
00:46 A reminder of a way of life that we really no
00:48 longer experience, still though we understand
00:51 the significance of swords.
00:54 We know they represent power and might,
00:56 and are weapons with which to fight a battle.
00:59 Whole armies used to fight with swords and
01:02 not so many years ago men used to settle an
01:05 argument by fighting one on one with swords.
01:08 Throughout long years of history people have
01:10 put a lot of trust in swords.
01:13 And you know it's sad but true,
01:16 most people have trusted swords
01:18 more than they have trusted God.
01:21 Today's Bible story tells about some people who
01:23 thought that big men with big swords were
01:26 stronger than God. Can you imagine that?
01:30 They hadn't learned that with God all things are
01:33 possible, and that if God is for us,
01:36 no one can stand against us.
01:38 Do you wonder what Bible story I'm talking about?
01:41 Well, you'll find out soon enough,
01:43 but first we are going to find out from
01:44 Ranger Jim just what a cicada is?
01:55 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying
01:57 welcome to Nature Time. Look what I have for
01:59 you today, isn't this a beautiful little creature?
02:02 Well, not really. I know boys and girls
02:05 like to use your imagination,
02:06 so would you use your imagination with me today.
02:09 And try to imagine that the day you were born
02:12 this tiny creature hatched
02:14 from a tiny little egg. It looked like a tiniest
02:17 little spider that you can hardly see,
02:20 and it was living underground,
02:21 it burrowed underground and found
02:23 some roots and it began to use his little mouth
02:25 parts and chew on them and suck out the juice
02:28 out of those roots. And when you celebrate
02:31 your first birthday and your mom and dad were
02:33 so proud of you this tiny little creature
02:36 was about 1/32nd of an inch long about that big
02:40 tiny little creature. When you were two
02:43 you'd look at this creature and you'd say,
02:44 hey you didn't grow very much,
02:47 and then your third year when you're getting
02:48 almost grown up, this was still a
02:50 tiny little creature. And then your fourth
02:53 birthday came he was still a tiny little thing
02:56 crawling in around in the ground,
02:58 grubbing around finding new roots
03:00 and sucking the nectar out of them,
03:02 just going about his business.
03:03 By now he had established a system of
03:05 little burrows where he went to this root and to
03:07 that tree, and feeding back and forth and all around.
03:10 And on your fifth birthday he was still a
03:12 little guy, and your sixth birthday he was
03:15 still underground, going around in the dark
03:18 sucking on the roots and enjoying his life,
03:20 his own little system of passage he followed
03:24 when he was looking for food.
03:26 And then something begin to happen,
03:28 he began to grow more rapidly, and on your
03:32 tenth birthday he was 2/3rds this size.
03:38 And on your eleventh birthday he was a little
03:40 bigger, and on your twelfth birthday bigger.
03:44 And when you became a teenager
03:46 boys and girls, this little creature dug a burrow
03:50 up to the surface of the ground and climbed up
03:54 on a plant in the day light for the first time in
03:57 its life, and the tiny little split on the back
04:00 of its shell that it left, it molted for the final
04:03 time climbed out of that lift, this old system,
04:06 the old skeletal system there and he climbed up
04:09 on a branch almost totally white and
04:12 became a totally different insect.
04:14 I'm going to lay this down and show you
04:16 now what it became? This is what it became,
04:21 a beautiful creature, this is called the
04:24 thirteen year cicada, because it takes thirteen
04:28 years of development underground to become
04:31 this, it stayed on that branch for two or three
04:34 days until the skeletal system firmed up and
04:36 became solid. Its wings developed,
04:38 all the veins that you can see here,
04:40 all the orange veins, the blood passing
04:43 there, and they harden up, was able to fly and
04:46 then it flew upon a branch and
04:47 begin to crawl. The male has a special
04:49 system on the bottom of his bottom,
04:51 a way of making a rattling sound,
04:53 and that's the way it attracts all of the lady
04:56 cicadas in the area. And that's not enough
04:58 and so the boys all get together on a tree
05:01 hundreds of them, sometimes thousands of
05:03 them and form a chorus. And you can hear it
05:06 every where in th forest, it's a constant
05:09 roaring, all the male singing and calling to
05:12 the females, and the females come and they
05:14 mate and produce eggs, then the female lays
05:17 eggs on the branch. And then as I told
05:20 you before those eggs hatch and that's the way
05:23 it's perpetuated. Now you may find
05:25 cicadas in the summer time, we have what we
05:27 call the local or dog day cicada and they
05:33 are year, once a year sometimes twice a year
05:36 they're more greenish in color flat.
05:39 They are the common cicada that
05:41 most people would find. When you find these
05:42 they are in great abundance.
05:44 My wife and I live on a 40 acre farm,
05:47 in some instances not on our farm but they
05:49 have been instances where they know
05:50 that there are one and a half million cicadas
05:54 to the acre, can you imagine that?
05:57 So that means on our 40 acre farm
06:01 there might be 60 million in an area where
06:05 these are hatching and I got this one by the way
06:07 in Southern Illinois, there was a hatch there
06:10 last year around Southern Illinois,
06:12 Kentucky and all down in that area.
06:15 And there were thousands of them on trees.
06:18 So a more normal population we'd
06:21 find at least a hundred thousand
06:22 of these to the acre. And everything eats
06:24 them the birds eats them, dogs eat them,
06:26 everything eat them. But they cannot effect
06:28 the population of the cicada,
06:30 they're so numerous. They are just a
06:32 wonderful creature to study, there are some
06:34 cicadas boys and girls that take seventeen
06:36 years, they wouldn't become an adult until
06:38 you had perhaps started dating, or graduating
06:41 from the high school, all that time they were
06:43 underground, but they came forth to the
06:45 beautiful sunlight the creature that God intended.
06:47 So, boys and girls we see once again,
06:49 God's wonderful hand in creation,
06:52 so as always. Ranger Jim saying,
06:54 don't forget to tell Jesus that you love
06:56 Him 'cause He really does love you.
07:07 Hello boys and girls, I'd like to introduce
07:09 you to the newest member of the
07:10 Kids Time family. His name is
07:12 Kurt Houghtaling. He's 5 weeks old.
07:17 I have two other sons Adam and Brandon
07:20 and a little girl name Hannah.
07:22 There's a guy in the Bible named Noah
07:24 who had three sons also, and they had a big
07:27 job to do. Their job was to build the
07:30 Ark to save the world. What a large job that is?
07:33 I am glad that we don't have to do that,
07:35 because God's promised He's never going to
07:37 send the flood again. We'd like to sing a song
07:39 for you right now about Noah and his sons.
07:53 Mister Noah built an ark,
07:56 the people thought it was a lark.
07:59 Mister Noah pleaded so,
08:02 but into the ark they wouldn't go.
08:05 And Rain came down in torrents.
08:09 The rain came down in torrents.
08:12 The rain came down in torrents.
08:14 And only eight were saved.
08:18 The animals came in two by two,
08:22 the big giraffe and the kangaroo.
08:25 They were safely stowed away
08:28 on that great and awful day.
08:31 And rain came down in torrents.
08:34 The rain came down in torrents.
08:37 The rain came down in torrents.
08:40 And only eight were saved.
08:44 When you see a rainbow
08:46 When you see a rainbow
08:49 When you see a rainbow
08:52 Remember God loves you.
08:56 Boys and girls, we'd like to teach you
08:58 the actions of this song,
09:01 are you ready? Here we go.
09:02 Mister Noah built an ark,
09:05 the people thought it was a lark.
09:08 Mister Noah pleaded so,
09:11 but into the ark they wouldn't go
09:13 And the rain came down in torrents.
09:16 The rain came down in torrents.
09:19 The rain came down in torrents.
09:22 And only eight were saved.
09:26 The animals came in two by two,
09:29 the big giraffe and kangaroo
09:32 They were safely stowed away,
09:35 Until that great and awful day
09:37 And the rain came down in torrents.
09:40 The rain came down in torrents.
09:43 The rain came down in torrents.
09:45 And only eight were saved.
09:50 When you see a rainbow
09:52 When you see a rainbow
09:55 When you see a rainbow
09:57 Remember God loves you.
12:38 Oh hello, are you packing too?
12:42 You know my name is Joshua,
12:47 and I'm packing not to go into the
12:49 Promised Land, but to go into the wilderness.
12:53 It's a pretty long story, you want to hear it?
12:58 You see, I was one of the 12 spies,
13:01 one of the few, the chosen,
13:03 to get to go out into the Promised Land
13:05 and check it out. And boy, let me tell you,
13:09 it was something great. You know Moses told
13:12 us that it was a land flowing with milk
13:13 and honey and that sounded really good,
13:16 but it is better than milk and honey.
13:18 There's so many awesome things there.
13:21 It is a farmer's paradise, you can grow great
13:25 crops, not even have to work that hard,
13:27 and the climate is just very healthy.
13:30 We brought back some grapes and they were
13:32 bigger than my head, and they
13:34 tasted out of this world. I was so excited
13:37 because I knew that God would give us this land.
13:41 So we finished spying out the land,
13:43 and when we came back and the people
13:44 saw us far off in the distance.
13:46 And they said, the spies are back,
13:48 the spies are back, and we came and we got
13:51 in front of Moses and he quieted the crowds down.
13:54 And we started giving our report,
13:56 we told them about the land,
13:58 and how it was awesome, and how the farming
14:00 was good, and how the climate was good,
14:02 and we showed them the grapes.
14:04 We brought back a cluster that was so big,
14:07 it had to be carried between two guys on a pole.
14:12 And the people they caught our excitement,
14:14 and they started getting all antsy and ready to
14:16 go on and take the land. And then one of the
14:19 spies raised his hand and said, yeah this is all
14:22 good but, and when he said but something
14:27 in my heart dropped. He said, yeah,
14:30 yeah it's a good land, but there's giants there,
14:35 not just nice, sleepy kind of giants,
14:37 the big kinds with swords larger than my body,
14:41 who like to stomp on little guys like us.
14:43 And he told about the cities, and how they
14:46 were fortified, and how they had huge armies,
14:48 and chariots, and bows and arrows,
14:50 and the people started getting scared.
14:54 They started to forget what God had done for
14:55 us in the past. Then they started to get
14:58 angry, they shook their fists at Moses and they
15:01 say why have you let us out here to be killed?
15:05 We were better off in Egypt.
15:07 Moses tried to calm them down;
15:09 he tried to remind them what God had done for
15:11 us at the Red Sea. How God had provided
15:13 us manna and water in the desert,
15:17 but the people wouldn't listen.
15:20 I got angry, not angry at God,
15:23 not angry at Moses, but angry at the people
15:26 for forgetting about God, and how powerful He was.
15:30 I jumped up on a rock and I said people
15:32 listen, don't you remember what God
15:34 has done for you in the past?
15:36 All we have to do is be strong and courageous,
15:39 and God would give us the land.
15:43 The people got mad at me,
15:46 and they stooped down, they started picking up
15:48 stones and they got ready to throw them at me.
15:52 And I was, I was kind of scared for my life,
15:55 and then all of a sudden then there was a flash
15:58 and we looked and the tabernacle
16:01 was glowing with God's presence.
16:07 The stones were dropped and the
16:09 mumbling stopped, and everyone knew
16:11 deep down that he was in trouble.
16:14 Moses went and he prayed to the God
16:16 for a long time, and when he came
16:18 back he was very sad. He said that God said
16:23 because we did not trust in Him and because we
16:25 had no faith in God that he wasn't going to give
16:28 us the Promised Land just yet.
16:31 We had to go back out into the
16:34 wilderness to learn our lesson.
16:38 Now the people did something really
16:39 strange, God said take the land they said
16:43 no we can't, so God said go to the wilderness,
16:46 and they said no, no way,
16:47 I think we can take the land.
16:49 Moses tried to stop them, I tried to stop them,
16:52 but they wouldn't listen, they grabbed their
16:54 swords and their spears and they said we're
16:56 going to go get the Promised Land.
16:58 The land flowing with milk and honey is ours,
17:02 and they marched out. Later that night when a
17:06 few survivals straggled back,
17:09 my heart crumbled again to see them hurt
17:13 and wounded, and many of our friends not
17:16 there with us any more, made me sad because it
17:19 all could have been not happened
17:22 if we had have listened to God.
17:25 There were many tents that were crying that
17:28 night because they know no longer had a
17:29 father, or an uncle, or a brother because
17:33 they didn't trust in God. And so that's why we're
17:37 heading back out into the wilderness because
17:40 we have to learn our lesson.
17:45 We have to learn our lesson
17:47 to always trust in the Lord.
18:03 I am the way and the truth and the light.
18:09 I am the way and the truth and the light.
18:15 And no one comes to the Father
18:19 except through me, except through me,
18:25 I am the way and the truth and the light.
18:30 I am the way and the truth and the light.
18:36 And no one comes to the Father
18:40 except through me, except through me,
18:46 I am the way and the truth and the light.
18:51 I am the way and the truth and the light.
18:57 And no one comes to the Father
19:01 except through me, John 14 says.
19:17 Thank you to the Bond family
19:18 for that beautiful song. Well boys and girls,
19:21 I'd like to share some e-mails and letters that
19:23 I have been receiving today.
19:25 And I have one particular I'd like to
19:27 share with you it's from my friend Caprice.
19:29 I call her my friend because you know
19:30 Caprice writes to me almost every single
19:33 week, and Caprice, I love you, and I want to
19:35 share your e-mail. It says dear Miss Brenda,
19:39 I share Jesus by helping people with their school
19:41 work, and I also by sharing my lunch.
19:44 I talk to them about my religion and theirs too.
19:47 Some children like to mock me because of my
19:49 religion, but I try not to let them upset me.
19:51 I will send you a video sometime of me
19:54 doing work at church. Love, Caprice.
19:57 Well Caprice, I am looking forward to
19:58 receiving that video from you,
20:00 and keep on sharing Jesus, pray for your friends.
20:02 And do you know what, don't get discouraged if
20:04 they make fun of you because look
20:06 what they did to Jesus, and He loved
20:08 them any way didn't He? So we just keep
20:11 praying for them okay. And I've a letter from
20:14 Caprice's friend Natalie, it says dear
20:17 Miss Brenda my name is Natalie,
20:19 I come from South Africa, and I am Caprice's friend.
20:23 I share Jesus by helping people in my class too.
20:26 And I also help my mom by washing the
20:28 dishes and cooking. I help my father by
20:30 getting his tools to work, and I help my
20:32 brother by encouraging him to work hard for school.
20:35 I love school and I always try to do my
20:37 best in school, and I have many friends,
20:40 I want to be a vet when I grow up,
20:42 plus an archeologist, but my mom says that
20:45 there's no money in that business.
20:47 I would like to enter that Kids Club
20:49 you're doing. Please send me an
20:50 e-mail and tell me what's it's all about,
20:53 love Natalie. Well thank you Natalie,
20:55 I'd love to have you join Kids Club.
20:57 And you know what it has lots of lessons
20:59 where you can learn a lot more about Jesus.
21:01 So please send me your name and address,
21:03 and we'll get you signed up.
21:06 Another e-mail says dear Miss Brenda
21:08 my grandmother is typing on a computer
21:10 for me because I haven't yet learned
21:12 to use the keyboard yet.
21:13 My name is Alison and I am 8 years old,
21:16 this is how I share Jesus. Our next door neighbor
21:19 is an old man, and he spent two weeks
21:21 in the hospital in another town.
21:23 When he got home I gave him some cookies
21:25 and I had made in the County Fair he liked
21:28 them very much. If you have enough books,
21:31 could I have one please? Your friend, Alison,
21:34 and she is from Lisbon, North Dakota.
21:36 And yes Alison, I'll be happy to send you a
21:38 Kids Time book and she writes on here,
21:40 PS: My cookies won a white ribbon at the fair.
21:43 Well congratulations for that.
21:46 And I've one more e-mail, it said,
21:49 hi my name is DJ and I'll be three years old
21:52 on the 9th of September, and I enjoy your
21:54 program very much. I don't see it all the
21:56 time as this shows on Saturday in our area,
21:59 and we go Church on Saturday.
22:01 Please send me a Kids Time book.
22:03 Thank you very much and it said here's my
22:05 address and God bless you.
22:07 And it says my name is Thalbert and bye for now.
22:12 Well thank you Thalbert, for your letter,
22:15 and I am glad you are enjoying the program.
22:18 But before I get to some more letters boys and
22:19 girls, I want to take you to Russia.
22:22 I was there recently and there are some
22:24 wonderful boys and girls there that love Jesus.
22:26 And right now let's go and see what one of
22:28 them has to say about how they share Jesus.
22:32 [Foreign Language]
22:35 Well, I'm in Russia today, and I am so
22:37 excited to be with so many boys and girls
22:40 that love Jesus. Even in Russia,
22:43 that's a long way from my home,
22:45 this is our friend Julia and she's going to
22:47 interpret for us today. And I have this
22:49 precious little friend next to me and your
22:52 name is Naschia. Naschia, can you tell
22:55 me, what do you do to share Jesus?
22:58 [Foreign Language]
23:07 I sing songs. You sing songs Naschia.
23:10 Would you like to sing a song today for us?
23:13 [Foreign Language]
23:15 What would you like to sing?
23:16 [Foreign Language]
23:19 About the planes. About the planes,
23:20 I don't know this song;
23:22 do you know this song Julia?
23:23 Oh yes, I know this song and the song says,
23:27 everyday planes fly somewhere.
23:30 Everyday trains go somewhere,
23:32 and me, wherever I go, wherever I am in a
23:36 plane or a train I want to be with Jesus.
23:39 Oh that sounds like such a nice song,
23:41 Naschia, would you like to sing that for us today?
23:45 Shall we invite all your
23:46 friends to help you sing it?
23:47 [Foreign Language]
23:48 Okay, let's sing this song and I understand
23:50 there's emotions in this song, right,
23:52 maybe you can teach them to me, can we do it.
23:54 [Foreign Language]
23:56 Okay, let's sing the song.
23:57 [Foreign Language]
24:16 Thank you for that beautiful
24:17 song kids I really enjoyed it.
24:19 Well I have a letter here I'd like to share with
24:21 you, and this is from my friend William.
24:23 And here's William's picture,
24:25 he's from Fletcher, North Carolina.
24:27 And some of you might recognize William
24:29 because William had played his trumpet
24:31 here on Kids Time before, and I have to
24:32 tell you I just love William.
24:35 Do you know he's got a smile on his heart,
24:37 and if you watch closely he's smiling
24:39 even while he's playing that trumpet?
24:41 And it just warms my heart, it says,
24:43 his letter says dear Miss Brenda,
24:45 my name is William and I am 10 years old.
24:47 Recently I went golfing with my dad and my
24:49 grandpa, and I drove the car and washed the
24:51 balls without being asked to just because
24:54 I wanted to help, you know that that sounds
24:55 like Williams. The Bible says be kind and
24:58 affectionate to one another with brotherly
25:00 love and honor giving preference to one and
25:02 other, Romans 12:10. I'm thankful that Jesus
25:05 died on the cross for me, when I think of
25:07 what he did for me that makes me want to help
25:10 others, sincerely Williams.
25:12 Well thank you so much for your letter
25:14 William, and yes it does, when we do
25:16 something for others, it shows we do have Jesus
25:19 in our heart. And this letter is from
25:21 the Dominican, and see this nice card he has,
25:27 isn't that beautiful? And he says,
25:29 the picture in the front is the farmer going to
25:31 pick bananas on his farm. And a good farmer
25:34 takes good care of his farm, just like a good
25:36 shepherd takes good care of his flock.
25:39 God takes good care of His sheep that's you and I.
25:42 And let's see, he says his favorite text is
25:45 Proverbs 20 verse 1, anyone shouldn't look it
25:47 up, he doesn't want to tell you so Proverbs 20
25:49 verse 1, go get your Bibles and look that up
25:51 boys and girls. And let's see what's his favorite?
25:54 He says, dear Miss Brenda, hi how are you
25:57 I love to see your program on 3ABN.
25:59 I watch you everyday and I love Praise Time,
26:02 and Story Time and I love, just love those
26:05 Kids Time programs, your friend from the
26:07 Dominican, Ezekiel. And thank you so much
26:10 Ezekiel for your letter. And I want you to keep
26:12 on watching and just share Jesus with
26:15 someone today won't you, because Jesus is
26:17 coming soon. And boys and girls,
26:19 that's all the time we have today.
26:21 I want you to smile at someone today,
26:23 tell them Jesus loves them, He is coming soon.
26:25 And remember it's Kids Time to share Jesus.
