It's time to share there's a world out 00:00:03.87\00:00:06.52 there looking for a friend like Jesus, 00:00:06.53\00:00:10.08 it's time to share there is a world 00:00:10.09\00:00:12.85 out there. Let's tell them 00:00:12.86\00:00:14.58 that He loves us so. Let's tell them that 00:00:14.59\00:00:18.39 He loves us so. Kids time, 00:00:18.40\00:00:22.14 Kids time, Kids time. Hi, boys and girls. 00:00:22.15\00:00:25.82 How do you like my little bonsai tree? 00:00:25.83\00:00:28.13 Isn't it cute? Do you know, 00:00:28.14\00:00:30.15 you might think that this is just a 00:00:30.16\00:00:31.68 baby tree and that it will get a 00:00:31.69\00:00:33.24 whole lot bigger, but this tree is 00:00:33.25\00:00:35.73 as big as it will ever get. 00:00:35.74\00:00:37.67 It's called a bonsai tree and it's carefully 00:00:37.68\00:00:41.98 grown in such a way that it will 00:00:41.99\00:00:43.28 always be small. In today's Bible 00:00:43.29\00:00:46.52 story you are going to hear about a tree 00:00:46.53\00:00:48.35 and it wasn't a bonsai tree and it wasn't a 00:00:48.36\00:00:51.38 small tree either, but the man who 00:00:51.39\00:00:53.88 climbed up into this tree was so small that 00:00:53.89\00:00:57.26 we might even call him the bonsai man. 00:00:57.27\00:00:59.39 He was all grown up, he was smart and 00:00:59.40\00:01:02.87 he was educated and he had a good job, 00:01:02.88\00:01:05.05 but he didn't have a normal height. 00:01:05.06\00:01:07.17 The Bible doesn't tell us whether or not 00:01:07.18\00:01:10.08 it bothered this man to be shorter than the 00:01:10.09\00:01:12.01 other people, but it does tell us 00:01:12.02\00:01:14.68 of one time when it caused him a problem, 00:01:14.69\00:01:16.94 but not for long. A little bonsai man, 00:01:16.95\00:01:20.32 he solved his problem very quickly, 00:01:20.33\00:01:22.80 perhaps you have something different 00:01:22.81\00:01:24.80 about you, perhaps you're shorter 00:01:24.81\00:01:26.78 than all your friends or maybe your 00:01:26.79\00:01:29.18 taller than all your friend, 00:01:29.19\00:01:30.97 and then they feel like a big giant, 00:01:30.98\00:01:32.84 or perhaps you're the only one in your class 00:01:32.85\00:01:35.21 with glasses or maybe the only one in your 00:01:35.22\00:01:37.53 family with red hair. If so, why not be 00:01:37.54\00:01:41.54 like our little bonsai man in our story today. 00:01:41.55\00:01:44.04 Accept whatever it is different about 00:01:44.05\00:01:46.84 yourself and face it as a challenge, 00:01:46.85\00:01:49.42 never let it hold you back in doing 00:01:49.43\00:01:51.81 something worthwhile, you might even 00:01:51.82\00:01:54.02 begin to think of yourself as lucky that 00:01:54.03\00:01:55.93 you're not just like everybody else. 00:01:55.94\00:01:57.92 You know, I'm sure that Jesus enjoys all the 00:01:57.93\00:02:02.04 differences he sees in boys and girls 00:02:02.05\00:02:04.10 and grown ups too, but before the 00:02:04.11\00:02:06.69 story Ranger Jim is going to talk to us 00:02:06.70\00:02:08.98 about an insect with its own differences 00:02:08.99\00:02:11.72 called a Praying Mantis. 00:02:11.73\00:02:14.37 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying 00:02:14.38\00:02:23.84 welcome to the Nature Time, 00:02:23.85\00:02:25.12 we're glad you can join us today, 00:02:25.13\00:02:26.47 look what I have, isn't this a beautiful 00:02:26.48\00:02:28.67 little guy. This is known as 00:02:28.68\00:02:30.45 the Praying Mantis, I don't know if 00:02:30.46\00:02:31.87 you've ever seeing one or not. 00:02:31.88\00:02:33.02 You should look for them when you're 00:02:33.03\00:02:34.44 out for a walk, if you're out 00:02:34.45\00:02:35.68 around Goldenrod plants and things like that. 00:02:35.69\00:02:37.81 In the Northern part of United States we would 00:02:37.82\00:02:39.57 find these, so that's part 00:02:39.58\00:02:40.66 of August into September and maybe 00:02:40.67\00:02:42.47 into October. They're starting life 00:02:42.48\00:02:44.72 as a tiny little ant like creature 00:02:44.73\00:02:46.97 and they progressively grow until 00:02:46.98\00:02:48.90 they're this size. Now this is an 00:02:48.91\00:02:50.30 adult Praying Mantis and this is the female. 00:02:50.31\00:02:52.98 This is the mommy Praying Mantis and you 00:02:52.99\00:02:54.61 say well Ranger Jim how would know that? 00:02:54.62\00:02:56.53 You look at their bottom, 00:02:56.54\00:02:57.91 well I'm not going to turn it over because 00:02:57.92\00:02:59.32 I'm hanging onto so she won't turn. 00:02:59.33\00:03:01.05 Look at their abdomen and the male have 00:03:01.06\00:03:04.02 eight segments. You can count them 00:03:04.03\00:03:05.41 1, 2, 3 what you're looking forward 00:03:05.42\00:03:07.11 is one with 6, when you find one 00:03:07.12\00:03:09.07 with 6 segments on the lower part of her 00:03:09.08\00:03:10.77 abdomen that means it's a mommy or a female 00:03:10.78\00:03:13.45 and you can put it in a glass jar or you can 00:03:13.46\00:03:16.63 put it in a small aquarium that's dry 00:03:16.64\00:03:18.94 and put in a piece of under brunch of some 00:03:18.95\00:03:21.70 kind with leaves on it, so they can perch 00:03:21.71\00:03:23.61 on that, then you can go out and you could 00:03:23.62\00:03:25.61 catch crickets, so you can get 00:03:25.62\00:03:26.91 small grasshoppers or any kind of thing 00:03:26.92\00:03:29.18 you want because this is a predator. 00:03:29.19\00:03:30.76 This insect attacks and kills and consumes 00:03:30.77\00:03:33.94 eats other smaller insects and when it is 00:03:33.95\00:03:37.14 very small it catches insects like tiny little 00:03:37.15\00:03:40.05 vinegar flies and little nets and it 00:03:40.06\00:03:43.07 progresses up and it gets large 00:03:43.08\00:03:44.50 enough and it can catch small flies. 00:03:44.51\00:03:46.64 Then it gets a little bigger and it can catch 00:03:46.65\00:03:48.65 house flies and it continues to get larger, 00:03:48.66\00:03:51.73 and larger, it needs a larger supply of food. 00:03:51.74\00:03:54.42 It has more strength and it's able to catch 00:03:54.43\00:03:56.41 larger insects. Its front legs, 00:03:56.42\00:03:58.62 if I were to spread them out for 00:03:58.63\00:04:00.03 you they're knife like in that like a 00:04:00.04\00:04:02.88 pocket knife, they open. 00:04:02.89\00:04:04.41 Now she has her claws open, 00:04:04.42\00:04:06.43 and she reaches out and catches, 00:04:06.44\00:04:07.97 she springs out and grabs an insect on 00:04:07.98\00:04:10.12 the inside. God has provided 00:04:10.13\00:04:11.71 with tiny little spines, 00:04:11.72\00:04:13.38 very sharp on the inside. 00:04:13.39\00:04:15.30 She grabs the insect and she grasps it 00:04:15.31\00:04:18.19 and hangs onto it and then she consumes it. 00:04:18.20\00:04:21.12 So that is not a pretty sight to many people. 00:04:21.13\00:04:23.55 I know boys and girls who enjoy that. 00:04:23.56\00:04:25.73 My wife says I have a little bit of a mean 00:04:25.74\00:04:27.91 streak, it isn't that I have a mean steak, 00:04:27.92\00:04:29.35 it's just that I enjoy watching the process 00:04:29.36\00:04:31.77 that takes place in nature. 00:04:31.78\00:04:33.95 So when this insect watches, 00:04:33.96\00:04:36.89 turns his head. It is the only 00:04:36.90\00:04:38.35 insect boys and girls that we have that 00:04:38.36\00:04:39.77 can turn his head right and left. 00:04:39.78\00:04:41.73 In fact she can turn her neck so fast, 00:04:41.74\00:04:44.43 she can turn around and look directly 00:04:44.44\00:04:45.95 behind her. And this is sometimes 00:04:45.96\00:04:48.31 call the Popeye okay. 00:04:48.32\00:04:50.28 You can see she has very enlarged eyes, 00:04:50.29\00:04:53.47 it stick off on the side of their head. 00:04:53.48\00:04:54.76 They are very movement sensitive, 00:04:54.77\00:04:57.09 anytime that they see an insect near them 00:04:57.10\00:04:59.73 that moves they catch that movement and they 00:04:59.74\00:05:02.01 train their eyes on it and watch it, 00:05:02.02\00:05:03.54 they're not prone to fly out and grab 00:05:03.55\00:05:06.58 an insect as much as they are to lay and 00:05:06.59\00:05:08.72 waiting and just wait very patiently. 00:05:08.73\00:05:11.11 Now they're called a Praying Mantis because 00:05:11.12\00:05:13.11 you see not so much now because 00:05:13.12\00:05:14.66 I'm holding her and she is frightened, 00:05:14.67\00:05:16.34 but normally she holds her front claws up 00:05:16.35\00:05:19.85 in a position of prayer just waiting for 00:05:19.86\00:05:22.18 something to come by, 00:05:22.19\00:05:23.16 no she's not praying that is simply the 00:05:23.17\00:05:25.23 position that she has assumes, 00:05:25.24\00:05:26.80 they're in readiness to grab their prey 00:05:26.81\00:05:28.80 when it comes by. So this is a very, 00:05:28.81\00:05:31.70 very interesting insect and she lays a 00:05:31.71\00:05:34.80 pot of eggs, very large body, 00:05:34.81\00:05:37.12 and when I first place this in an aquarium, 00:05:37.13\00:05:41.42 she had begun to lay the eggs and begins 00:05:41.43\00:05:43.83 to come out the back of her body just 00:05:43.84\00:05:45.69 spewing out like a little tiny ribbon 00:05:45.70\00:05:47.41 of form and it grows and grows and grows. 00:05:47.42\00:05:50.14 It is a very, very sticky substance and it is 00:05:50.15\00:05:54.27 very strong and it is perfect insulation. 00:05:54.28\00:05:57.11 She lays this along on a protective branch 00:05:57.12\00:06:00.11 sometime she likes to get around a barn or 00:06:00.12\00:06:03.10 I find them usually. I look for them 00:06:03.11\00:06:04.82 around a grain drill or something, 00:06:04.83\00:06:06.31 because they like to get up under a board 00:06:06.32\00:06:07.83 or some protection from the rain not always, 00:06:07.84\00:06:10.49 sometimes they would just be out on just a 00:06:10.50\00:06:13.14 regular level wind, but if she does 00:06:13.15\00:06:16.48 that it's always the same, 00:06:16.49\00:06:17.94 she deposits the eggs there and then goes 00:06:17.95\00:06:20.32 about her own life. She completely 00:06:20.33\00:06:21.93 forgets about her babies, 00:06:21.94\00:06:23.19 all of her chores finished. 00:06:23.20\00:06:24.98 She has nothing more to do, 00:06:24.99\00:06:26.39 now I've talked about that I'm going to 00:06:26.40\00:06:28.78 put Mrs. Mantis over here and open the case 00:06:28.79\00:06:31.36 so you can see it. This is what it 00:06:31.37\00:06:33.03 looks like when it's laying on a branch 00:06:33.04\00:06:34.52 okay. So, boys and girls when you're out 00:06:34.53\00:06:36.49 in nature and you're looking for things 00:06:36.50\00:06:38.48 always keep your eyes open. 00:06:38.49\00:06:39.91 If you see a little lump on a branch go 00:06:39.92\00:06:41.60 and look at it, I'm going to open 00:06:41.61\00:06:43.23 this now, so you can see inside in here 00:06:43.24\00:06:45.70 would be 300 tiny little eggs and when 00:06:45.71\00:06:48.91 these eggs hatch next spring when it gets 00:06:48.92\00:06:50.86 warm long in June, July, maybe then they 00:06:50.87\00:06:54.73 come forth these tiny little creatures about 00:06:54.74\00:06:57.07 the size of a tiny, tiny little spider 00:06:57.08\00:06:59.83 and a little bit of a silk on the back of it. 00:06:59.84\00:07:02.28 They spin out like that and they come slowly 00:07:02.29\00:07:04.26 down to ground just gently they don't fall 00:07:04.27\00:07:06.16 often hurt themselves another example of how 00:07:06.17\00:07:08.93 God provides boys and girls for even the 00:07:08.94\00:07:10.95 Praying Mantis. So Ranger Jim 00:07:10.96\00:07:12.73 as always telling you boys and girls don't 00:07:12.74\00:07:15.05 forget to tell Jesus that you love Him, 00:07:15.06\00:07:16.69 because He really does love you. 00:07:16.70\00:07:19.77 Hello, boys and girls welcome to Music Time 00:07:27.73\00:07:30.55 with Budicus. Our producer Brendacus 00:07:30.56\00:07:34.02 wanted us to do a song about Zacchaeus. 00:07:34.03\00:07:37.65 Zacchaeus, what is it that you do 00:07:37.66\00:07:41.08 for a living? I collect money 00:07:41.09\00:07:44.63 and you owe me some money, 00:07:44.64\00:07:46.60 I don't think I like Zacchaeus very much, 00:07:46.61\00:07:56.16 as a matter of fact a lot of people 00:07:56.17\00:07:59.05 didn't like him, but one person did 00:07:59.06\00:08:02.50 and we would like to sing that song for you. 00:08:02.51\00:08:05.17 Zacchaeus was a wee little man. 00:08:08.76\00:08:12.51 And a wee little man was he. 00:08:12.52\00:08:15.23 He climbed up in a sycamore tree. 00:08:15.24\00:08:19.52 For the Lord he wanted to see. 00:08:19.53\00:08:22.52 And as the Savior passed that way. 00:08:22.53\00:08:26.68 He looked up in that tree. 00:08:26.69\00:08:29.72 And He said, Zacchaeus, you come down! 00:08:29.73\00:08:33.99 For I'm going to your house today. 00:08:34.00\00:08:37.09 For I'm going to your house today. 00:08:37.10\00:08:40.65 Boys and girls we're gonna try it again 00:08:40.66\00:08:44.33 this time do the action with us. 00:08:44.34\00:08:46.09 Zacchaeus was a wee little man. 00:08:46.10\00:08:50.20 And a wee little man was he. 00:08:50.21\00:08:53.17 He climbed up in a sycamore tree. 00:08:53.18\00:08:57.20 For the Lord he wanted to see. 00:08:57.21\00:09:00.03 And as the Savior passed that way. 00:09:00.04\00:09:04.18 He looked up in that tree. 00:09:04.19\00:09:07.19 And He said, Zacchaeus, you come down! 00:09:07.20\00:09:11.51 For I'm going to your house today. 00:09:11.52\00:09:14.50 For I'm going to your house today. 00:09:14.51\00:09:17.91 Tomias, is everything ready for banquet? 00:11:25.73\00:11:27.35 Yes master. Are you sure 00:11:27.36\00:11:28.70 all the details have been taken care of? 00:11:28.71\00:11:30.36 Yes master. Make sure to doubly check 00:11:30.37\00:11:32.91 and please go and tell the others, 00:11:32.92\00:11:34.22 yes master. You must know 00:11:34.23\00:11:37.66 that for a very long time I have not 00:11:37.67\00:11:39.71 been happy, everything people say about 00:11:39.72\00:11:43.60 me is true. Zacchaeus, he's a cheat. 00:11:43.61\00:11:46.48 Zacchaeus makes himself rich by charging 00:11:46.49\00:11:50.45 even the poor, as Chief Tax Collector 00:11:50.46\00:11:53.57 I have been very greedy. 00:11:53.58\00:11:55.01 I've charged even the poorest people 00:11:55.02\00:11:57.90 more than I'm required to and the extra 00:11:57.91\00:12:00.55 I've kept for myself. I have far more 00:12:00.56\00:12:04.06 luxuries and privileges than other people do, 00:12:04.07\00:12:06.68 but I recently have felt so guilty about my 00:12:06.69\00:12:10.15 dishonesty that I really have enjoyed 00:12:10.16\00:12:13.11 the money and fine things that we have. 00:12:13.12\00:12:15.26 Then just this morning I've heard that Jesus 00:12:15.27\00:12:20.31 was coming to town. I've heard such 00:12:20.32\00:12:22.75 wonderful things about him, 00:12:22.76\00:12:24.04 how he heals people of all kinds of diseases. 00:12:24.05\00:12:27.08 How he loves children and tells stories that 00:12:27.09\00:12:30.28 keep everyone hanging on his every word and 00:12:30.29\00:12:33.87 I've also heard how friendly he is to all 00:12:33.88\00:12:36.52 kinds of people, even tax collectors like me. 00:12:36.53\00:12:40.10 Well I've made up my mind that 00:12:40.11\00:12:43.69 I just had to see him, I somehow felt 00:12:43.70\00:12:46.51 the just one glimpse would make me a 00:12:46.52\00:12:49.38 better man, but actually seeing 00:12:49.39\00:12:53.33 Jesus wasn't that easy. When I got onto 00:12:53.34\00:12:56.66 the Jericho road where he was expected to pass. 00:12:56.67\00:12:59.27 The crowd was like a wall in front of me 00:12:59.28\00:13:01.91 and you know I'm not very tall I 00:13:01.92\00:13:05.39 started jumping up and down trying to 00:13:05.40\00:13:07.40 see over their heads, but I just couldn't 00:13:07.41\00:13:09.92 then I spot a little sycamore tree by 00:13:09.93\00:13:13.06 the side of the road, before I knew it 00:13:13.07\00:13:15.34 I found myself shimming up the tree, 00:13:15.35\00:13:17.23 scooting out on to old limb overlooking 00:13:17.24\00:13:20.13 the road. I must look 00:13:20.14\00:13:22.96 kind of funny, now that 00:13:22.97\00:13:25.35 I think of it. I guess a lot of 00:13:25.36\00:13:27.34 people were starring at me with their 00:13:27.35\00:13:28.70 mouths open. Never expecting to 00:13:28.71\00:13:31.65 see a chief tax collector act 00:13:31.66\00:13:34.16 so undignified, but the important 00:13:34.17\00:13:37.95 thing is I got to see Jesus, 00:13:37.96\00:13:40.95 there he was in the middle of the crowd. 00:13:40.96\00:13:45.17 He wasn't taller than most people and 00:13:45.18\00:13:48.33 he didn't dress differently than others, 00:13:48.34\00:13:50.40 but somehow I knew that it was Jesus. 00:13:50.41\00:13:54.21 Then he looked at me. 00:13:54.22\00:13:56.57 He looked right up into the sycamore tree 00:13:56.58\00:13:59.89 and his eyes looked deep into mine. 00:13:59.90\00:14:01.98 I couldn't look away, I could hardly breath, 00:14:01.99\00:14:06.22 his eyes, his eyes were so kind, 00:14:06.23\00:14:10.70 so forgiving and understanding. 00:14:10.71\00:14:13.02 Then he actually called me by name he said 00:14:13.03\00:14:18.51 in his quite, warm voice; Zacchaeus, 00:14:18.52\00:14:20.78 come on down, I'd like to have 00:14:20.79\00:14:24.31 dinner at your house today. 00:14:24.32\00:14:25.75 Can you imagine the privilege, the honor, 00:14:25.76\00:14:30.28 the blessing that we're about to share 00:14:30.29\00:14:32.55 and that's how I know that he loves me, 00:14:32.56\00:14:36.96 and that's how I know I will never ever 00:14:36.97\00:14:41.38 be the same again. After looking into 00:14:41.39\00:14:45.07 his face I know that I will never cheat 00:14:45.08\00:14:48.42 another man again. I will not lie or 00:14:48.43\00:14:51.16 steal or do anything mean because 00:14:51.17\00:14:54.00 he loves me. I know that 00:14:54.01\00:14:57.22 he has never done any mean or wrong 00:14:57.23\00:14:58.79 things in his life and I wanna be like him. 00:14:58.80\00:15:02.14 What's more anybody I've ever cheated 00:15:02.15\00:15:06.55 I will pay them back four times as much, 00:15:06.56\00:15:09.84 and I'm going to give half of what 00:15:09.85\00:15:12.45 I have to the poor. I can't wait to 00:15:12.46\00:15:16.01 tell Jesus this, oh I hear him now, 00:15:16.02\00:15:19.36 let's go out to meet him. 00:15:19.37\00:15:21.70 Jesus loves me and he loves you too. 00:15:35.89\00:15:41.27 Come and see how much He cares for you. 00:15:41.28\00:15:46.84 You will never find a friend so true. 00:15:46.85\00:15:52.66 Jesus loves me. And He loves you. 00:15:52.67\00:15:57.83 Jesus loves me and he loves you too. 00:15:57.84\00:16:04.30 Come and see how much He cares for you. 00:16:04.31\00:16:10.12 You will never find a friend so true. 00:16:10.13\00:16:15.99 Jesus loves me. And He loves you. 00:16:16.00\00:16:21.24 Thank you to the Meadows family for 00:16:30.37\00:16:31.89 that beautiful message and song. 00:16:31.90\00:16:33.78 Well boys and girls I'm enjoining your cards 00:16:33.79\00:16:36.00 and your letters, and your emails, 00:16:36.01\00:16:37.58 I just love hearing from you, and you are 00:16:37.59\00:16:39.97 out there witnessing for Jesus and I love it 00:16:39.98\00:16:42.11 that you're sharing that with me too and 00:16:42.12\00:16:44.55 I can share with all of you all the blessings, 00:16:44.56\00:16:46.95 but before I get reading letters today 00:16:46.96\00:16:49.26 I want you to meet a friend of mine 00:16:49.27\00:16:50.54 that's here with me. Right. 00:17:20.12\00:17:21.85 And they were really happy, 00:17:21.86\00:17:23.52 a lot of them were hungry, 00:17:23.53\00:17:26.53 and some other people went to the 00:17:26.54\00:17:29.96 fire station and to the hospital. 00:17:29.97\00:17:33.05 Oh that's awesome, now did you 00:17:33.06\00:17:35.14 have any special experiences it all? 00:17:35.15\00:17:38.45 Yes, when we were raking the leafs. 00:17:38.46\00:17:43.21 You do, you, you do other things too, 00:17:43.22\00:17:46.03 yeah, tell me about the other things you do. 00:17:46.04\00:17:47.33 Well we rakes the leafs for this one place 00:17:47.34\00:17:50.86 where abused mothers and their children go, 00:17:50.87\00:17:52.76 to stay when they don't have enough money. Now, 00:17:52.77\00:17:55.82 do they pay you, is this a job 00:17:55.83\00:17:57.03 that you go there.
