00:03 It's time to share there is a world out
00:06 there looking for a friend like Jesus,
00:10 it's time to share there is a world out there
00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so.
00:20 Kids time, Kids time, Kids time.
00:25 Oh, oh Hi boys and girls.
00:29 Oh I think I'm getting sick, I think I might
00:32 even have a fever. And I was sitting here and
00:35 thinking maybe I'm gonna take some
00:37 medicine here to make me feel better.
00:41 Okay I'm not really sick. I was just pretending,
00:44 but if I were sick and if didn't have a fever,
00:47 you know sometimes a cool damp cloth on
00:51 my forehead would make me feel so good
00:53 and sometimes medicine makes us still better too
00:55 to help us fight off disease and make the
00:58 fever go away. But in Bible times people didn't
01:01 have as much knowledge about the human body
01:03 as we do today. They did however observe
01:06 some things in nature that would help them
01:08 when they were sick. Did you know for example,
01:11 olive oil when they often take them and
01:15 used it to like if you're skin was very dry
01:18 or maybe a remedy for various types of wounds.
01:22 You might remember that the Good Samaritan,
01:24 a great Bible character he poured olive oil and
01:27 wine into the wounds of the man who had been
01:29 beaten up and left by the side of the road to die.
01:32 You know the oil would have soothed these wounds
01:35 and the alcohol and the wine probably would
01:37 have sterilized it. People in Bible times also used
01:41 various herbs and plants, in an effort to cure
01:44 sickness. They prepared various ointments
01:47 and powders from growing plants.
01:50 No doubt you've heard of frankincense and myrrh,
01:53 you remember that two of the gifts that the
01:54 wise men brought from baby Jesus.
01:56 They came from shrubs and trees and they were
02:00 used in remedies to stop bleeding, to clean
02:02 and heal wounds as far as other elements,
02:05 people even tried to mend cracked skulls with them,
02:08 can you imagine that. Today myrrh is known
02:12 to slow down the growth of bacteria and although
02:15 people in Bible times didn't know anything
02:17 about bacteria. They did observe that somehow
02:20 it works on the wounds and the sores.
02:22 Today's Bible stories tell us about a little girl
02:26 who was very sick. Today she probably would
02:29 have recovered very quickly with the dose of
02:30 penicillin or some other antibiotic, but there were
02:34 no antibiotics in Bible times. And a few pitiful
02:37 remedies that the doctor could offer were
02:39 often helpless. So what happened to that
02:43 little girl? Did she die? Why is her story in the
02:48 Bible at all? Well you will learn all about it
02:51 as you listen to our story today.
02:53 But picking of plants, Ranger Jim
02:55 has something to show us right now.
03:05 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying
03:06 welcome to Nature Time. Look what I have
03:09 for you today. You're gonna say Ranger Jim
03:11 is getting desperate, now he's gonna start
03:12 talking about weeds. Well, this is the Canadian
03:15 thistle and if you have a farm you know that
03:18 they are something that grows in the pasture
03:21 or sometime grows in the garden.
03:22 And every one hates the thistle because it
03:25 has protection. It has these spines that stick
03:27 out and cows don't like them, they can't feed
03:31 around them, but I have learned recently there
03:33 is one creature that loves them, that's the camel,
03:36 because the camel has very thick callus like lips
03:39 they just come up and munch them down
03:41 and enjoy them and so this is something else
03:43 that happens. Over here we have these
03:45 tiny little pods that form and there on end
03:49 of those we have some seeds and they're like
03:53 little tiny parachute when they come out of
03:56 there that's way it propagates or the way
03:58 it reproduces and when they would like go of
04:01 them they'd flow, well these are not gonna
04:02 fly away, because they're a little bit wet.
04:04 And but that's way that happens.
04:07 But on the end are tiny little seeds and there
04:09 is a bird that we have that's called a canary,
04:14 some people called it but they're not really that.
04:16 They are goldfinch but they come and pick these out,
04:19 they sit there and pull these out and take this
04:22 seed off the end, thank you very much,
04:23 thank you, take some more and eat them like that
04:26 and enjoy them. So you see there is something good,
04:28 they're beautiful to look at. They produce seed for
04:32 the birds and do all kind of nice things,
04:35 if we look at any kind of plant we will find that.
04:37 Even those that some people find objectionable.
04:40 We find that they are very, very useful and helpful.
04:43 Look at this beautiful plant. Isn't this beautiful?
04:46 Oh if you suffer from hay fever or if you
04:49 have problems, you're sneezing and coughing
04:51 and all. Many people don't like this.
04:53 Boys and girls this produces some of the
04:55 most wonderful honey you can imagine.
04:58 Right now Ranger Jim has bees at home
05:01 and my bees they love this.
05:04 And for years my wife and I had an observation
05:06 hive in the kitchen. We had a tube that
05:08 went outside, the bees could go out and bring
05:10 in the goldenrod nectar. My wife used to say phew,
05:14 I'll be glad when the goldenrod flow is over
05:17 because when the bees are evaporating
05:18 the excess moisture out of the goldenrod nectar
05:21 it has a sour smell to it. My wife would open
05:24 the windows, but she always let me keep
05:26 my beehive in there, because she loves me
05:28 special you know but this is a wonderful plant.
05:30 Not so showy as is a rose or something like that,
05:33 but it's a wonderful source of nectar and
05:36 pollen to all kinds of insects. So we see once
05:39 again with the goldenrod even though it causes
05:42 problem for people that have an asthmatic
05:43 condition, that is also a wonderful plant.
05:46 We have another little plant here this is called
05:49 smartweed and why they call it smartweed
05:52 I don't know, but it also true these things grow
05:55 in flower beds in garden and they expand
05:58 and there maybe a plant this big.
06:00 And they would try to smother out smaller plants
06:02 or flowers and all. They're actually are a
06:04 beautiful flowers themselves, when they
06:06 interfere with our flower beds we gardeners
06:08 called them weeds right, but this also is a
06:11 wonderful source of nectar for bees as well
06:15 as other insects that live on the sweet juice of
06:18 the blossoms, so that's the smartweed.
06:20 Boys and girls you can get a book.
06:22 There is a little golden series of books that
06:24 you can get of flowers. I would encourage
06:26 you to get one of those and just go for a walk
06:28 around your house even if you live in town
06:31 you can find wild flowers in different parts
06:33 of the park and what have you,
06:34 learn to identify them, that as you go along
06:36 with your friends you can say.
06:37 Oh yes, this is this kind of plant and that kind
06:39 of plant and when you learn more about them
06:41 everyone of them you will say, wasn't that
06:44 need how God made that. I'm getting to be
06:47 old man now, but I still am thrilled, when I can
06:50 go for a walk, go out in the woods and look at
06:52 that and say isn't that neat, my father made that,
06:54 that is just wonderful. Well we have another
06:57 plant here and this one is an aster,
06:59 has beautiful blossoms on it, lovely yellow
07:03 center, it's called frost aster, is called
07:05 frost aster, because it always comes into
07:08 full blossom late in the summer near frost time
07:11 and even after it frost once or twice.
07:13 The frost aster was still be blossoming.
07:15 The bees hurry out there and bring in their pollen,
07:18 bring it up and start filling up their cells,
07:21 because pollen for the bee is like bread for us
07:24 so they can have their honey and they can have
07:26 their bread all winter.. So this is a wonderful
07:29 source of pollen for our friends the bees
07:32 and other insects as well. To feed upon,
07:35 to make preparation for the winter coming.
07:37 So boys and girls I hope that you would learn
07:39 when we are studying these kind of plants and
07:42 things like this. Can you see when you're very
07:44 young that even in a weed we sometimes call them,
07:47 we see the hand of God. He's great creating
07:50 ability So boys and girls, don't forget to tell
07:53 Jesus that you love him
07:54 because he really does love you.
08:09 Uncle Buddy, what's wrong. I think it's broke.
08:13 You try it. It's broke, what?
08:18 Look there's Ms. Brenda. Hey Buddy,
08:23 hey Kids. Hi Ms. Brenda. What seems to be the
08:28 problem? We think it's broke. Oh my goodness,
08:32 we have all these songs we have to sing today.
08:34 What are we gonna to do? Let me try a couple
08:37 of things here. Let see, let see how is
08:40 that sounds. Let's see if that works.
08:42 There it is, get all that. Thank you, awesome,
08:49 alright kids you're ready to sing?
08:51 Yeah, okay and what do I always tell you smile,
08:56 I know I'm always saying smile, but what else
08:59 am I saying, more energy. Okay,
09:02 keep singing for Jesus. Okay and I'll be be around
09:05 if you need me. Okay see you later.
09:07 Thank you Miss Brenda, bye, bye.
09:11 You know here at Kid's Time,
09:12 when we have a problem, we go to Miss Brenda
09:15 and she always fixes it and you know what in life
09:19 we can go to God and he can fix any problem
09:23 no matter what. All we have to do is ask.
09:52 Did you ever talk to God above?
09:56 Tell Him that you need a friend to love.
10:00 Pray in Jesus' name believing
10:04 that God answers prayer.
10:08 Have you told Him all your cares and woes?
10:12 Every tiny little fear He knows.
10:16 You can know He'll always hear
10:19 And He will answer prayer.
10:23 You can whisper in a crowd to Him.
10:28 You can cry when You're alone to Him.
10:32 You don't have to pray out loud to Him;
10:36 He knows your thoughts.
10:40 On a lofty mountain peak, He's there.
10:44 In a meadow by a stream, He's there.
10:48 Anywhere on earth you go,
10:51 He's been there from the start.
10:55 Find the answer in His Word; it's true.
11:00 You'll be strong because He walks with you.
11:03 By His faithfulness He'll change you, too.
11:07 God answers prayer.
12:59 Oh grapes I love grapes. Can I have some?
13:02 Don't bother her. No, no, it's okay,
13:04 come I love company. Here you can have some grapes.
13:09 We're having a big celebration today.
13:11 Hey you guys should come, we're gonna have lots
13:14 of singing and good food. What's the
13:16 celebration all about? Oh I'm so glad you've asked,
13:19 I love to tell my story to everyone.
13:22 Here have some more. Did you guys have a
13:23 couple of minutes to talk? Oh sure.
13:26 Okay, well lets see, it started about this time
13:31 last year, me and my friends were outside
13:34 playing just over there. I think.
13:36 And all of sudden I just even feel so good.
13:39 My whole body was just hurting and do you guys
13:42 know how you got a headache and your
13:43 head is just pounding. Yeah well my head was
13:46 hurting so bad. So I went to see my mom.
13:49 She always knows what to do when I'm sick.
13:51 So I went inside and she put a cold rag on my head
13:55 and hide me away down. Oh all of sudden
13:57 I just wasn't just feeling good and my stomach
14:00 started to hurt and my head hurt and well
14:03 really everything hurt and finally she was like,
14:06 she had to call the doctor and so he came to check
14:09 me out and he gave me some medicine
14:11 and had me lay down again and I just didn't
14:14 feel any better. My stomach was still hurting
14:17 and everything, so my mom had to call the
14:19 doctor again. And when my doctor came the
14:22 second time, he walked at me and shook his head,
14:26 because he couldn't do anything about me and
14:28 my mom started to get really worried and
14:30 she started crying and then she did something,
14:33 she went and talked to my, one of the servants
14:35 and she said go sent for her father at once
14:39 and you guys know my father is Jairus right?
14:41 Yeah one of the most important rulers in the
14:44 whole city. She went and called for him.
14:47 My mother never calls for Jairus for anything,
14:50 so I knew something must be terrible wrong.
14:53 And you know what, that was the last thing
14:55 I remember. I just went right to sleep,
14:57 I didn't hear anything, I couldn't feel anything,
15:00 I didn't see anything either,
15:02 because you know what? I died. You died,
15:05 what do you mean you died? Yeah well
15:08 I don't know how it was all of sudden
15:10 I was just thinking something terribly
15:12 and all of a sudden I just fell asleep.
15:14 It was the weirdest thing and you know what?
15:15 I couldn't be a hero to tell you anything.
15:18 If my parents wouldn't have filled me in on
15:19 the rest of story. So I'll tell you what happened.
15:22 My father Jairus came home and he saw me
15:25 mourning and tossing and turning and I was
15:28 having such a bad headache and he felt
15:30 awful and my mom told him that there was
15:32 nothing the doctors could do.
15:34 And he loves me so much and he felt so bad
15:37 that I was going through so much pain and
15:39 he knew that if he didn't get help soon that
15:42 I was going to die. So he came by my bed side
15:46 and he told my mom he said, I've got to go
15:48 find something and he said I heard about Jesus
15:52 the great teacher and he's been doing
15:54 miraculous all over. Have you guys heard of Jesus.
15:56 Yeah the great. Yeah who hasn't, right.
15:59 He's been everywhere, well my father went to
16:02 go find him and he said that the clouds were
16:05 so thick he couldn't see what it was.
16:07 He didn't know whether if it was a festival
16:09 or if there was Jesus, he don't know
16:10 what's going on. So he had physically push
16:13 and shove his way in the Jesus.
16:15 So when he finally we got down. Listen to this,
16:18 he bowed down to Jesus. Yeah, my father bowing
16:22 down I know he doesn't bowed down to any one
16:24 I've seen people bow down to him.
16:26 He really was worried about me.
16:28 So he begged Jesus to come to my house,
16:30 'cause he knew that he could heal me.
16:32 And Jesus said he'd come. When they were walking
16:35 down the path. One of servants came up to
16:37 him really sad and said Jesus he don't need to
16:40 come any more, your daughter's died to
16:43 my dad and Jesus said the weirdest thing,
16:47 he said don't worry she is just sleeping.
16:49 Now that's really weird if I'm dead right.
16:52 Well they kept on going and there was all these
16:54 loud mourners. You guys have heard mourners,
16:56 haven't you when someone dies.
16:58 It is so fake they get paid to cry at funerals.
17:02 Well when they heard Jesus said that
17:04 I was only sleeping. They started to laugh;
17:06 they thought it was so funny and so.
17:09 Wow what were their names.
17:11 Jesus had three followers with him.
17:13 I think it was Peter, James and John.
17:15 Yeah those were the guys and Jesus had them
17:18 and my parents and they went up to my bedroom
17:21 and my mother said that Jesus place his hand
17:24 on me and looked in my face with the most of the
17:27 loving kind of face and said little girl arise
17:32 and this is part I remember.
17:33 I remember falling asleep and waking up
17:36 it was like the shortest nap I've ever had and
17:39 I woke up and I looked into the eyes of the
17:41 most of the loving, kindest person I'd ever met.
17:43 It was like he knew me. It was like he'd known
17:46 me my whole life and he loved me still even
17:49 though when I made those mistakes and
17:52 you know. You know how parents love you, right?
17:54 It was totally different I mean, he, he raised me
17:58 and he put my hand in my mom's hand and
18:00 I noticed my mom and my dad had tears in
18:03 their eyes and come to think of it even
18:05 Peter and John. James and john were crying also.
18:10 It was the just most awesome feeling and
18:12 he gave me a hug and I just wanted to stay
18:15 there forever, I didn't want him to leave,
18:17 and he looked at me and he said he had to leave.
18:20 so we got ready me and my family went outside
18:23 and you should have seen those people faces,
18:26 all those mourners that had been so like crying
18:30 and it's upset. They were just; they couldn't believe
18:34 really what had would happen.
18:35 And you know what they might go and talk,
18:36 go home to tell their family what had happen to me.
18:39 And you know what Jesus is giving life today
18:42 to everyone. Now I'm just a same kind of life
18:45 that he gave to me. But he's giving everyone a
18:47 peace and happiness in their hearts to go help
18:50 other people and help the herd and the helpless.
18:54 Jesus gives me excitement to go tell my story.
18:58 Oh but look at the time we should probably go.
19:01 Do guys help me to carry the grapes? Sure,
19:03 we'd be happy to, we are ready.
20:32 Thank you for that beautiful song
20:33 I enjoyed it so much and I hope you did too.
20:36 Well right now I'd like you to meet a special
20:38 friend of mine. My friend Tiffany,
20:41 Hi Tiffany how are you? Good, how are you?
20:43 Thank you so much for coming today
20:45 in Kids Time and I want you to share with the
20:47 boys and girls. What did you do to share Jesus?
20:50 Well I've started a Prayer Ministry at my school
20:53 and, now what is a Prayer Ministry?
20:55 Well a Prayer Ministry is where we get-together
20:59 every Friday and we pray for the people,
21:01 we pray for the prayer requests that we get.
21:03 Now what do you mean the prayer requests?
21:04 How do you get prayer requests?
21:06 Well I've made a box and I put it in the office
21:10 and so whoever wants us to pray for something
21:13 they just put it in the box and we pray for them.
21:17 That's wonderful and how many people are
21:19 in you prayer group now? Eleven, eleven
21:23 people isn't that wonderful boys and girls?
21:25 Eleven people in a prayer group. That's awesome.
21:27 And how old are you? I'm eleven.
21:30 You have eleven people in your prayer group
21:32 and you're eleven years old.
21:33 Well that's something you know,
21:36 you don't have to be an adult to share Jesus.
21:40 Look at a eleven years old what's she's doing,
21:42 she is starting a prayer group, maybe you can
21:44 do that in your school later, home or maybe
21:47 even after school with your classmates you
21:48 can get-together and have a prayer group.
21:50 Isn't a wonderful way to share Jesus?
21:52 Well I'd like to read you an email that
21:54 I have received. And keep those cards
21:56 and letters and emails coming boys and girls,
21:58 I love to hear from you and all the ways
22:01 you share Jesus. This letter is from Destiny,
22:04 it says dear Miss Brenda my name is Destiny
22:06 and I love Jesus. I share him on my computer,
22:10 I email my Bible verses to other children.
22:13 Isn't that a good idea to share Jesus?
22:15 Yes it is Destiny, thank you, says could
22:18 you please send me a Kids Time book
22:20 and I would like to come and be on Kids Time.
22:22 We love Kid's Time, love, Destiny. Destiny,
22:26 thank you so much for your email I would
22:28 love to have come and be a with kid's time
22:30 and be with sharing time. Can you write
22:33 me your phone so that I call you and
22:35 we can arrange that okay? And boys and girls
22:38 if you want to be on sharing time call me,
22:41 write me let me know, so that I can ask you,
22:43 alright. May be you can read this letter for me
22:46 and now while you're getting that ready
22:48 I'll read this one, this is from Fremont,
22:51 California and, oh there's two letters in here.
22:55 This one says dear Miss Brenda, my name is Jerry
22:58 and I'm eight and half years old.
23:00 I like the cooking part of your show the best.
23:02 But my mother is very ill and if you pray for her,
23:06 I'm sure it would help. Could you please send
23:09 me a book? Thank you for praying for mom.
23:11 Love Jerry. And look and the back he drew
23:13 a picture. Isn't that pretty? I love that
23:16 picture, drew a picture of a church
23:18 and says Jesus is coming soon and yes he his,
23:20 Jerry he his coming soon. And there's
23:22 another letter in this envelope and this one
23:24 says dear Miss Brenda I'm Jerry's grandma
23:27 his mother is very ill, her stomach has
23:30 stop functioning and her future is very bleak
23:33 and says I record the programs and send
23:35 them to Jerry, his mother is with me
23:37 now to care for, but Jerry lives in California
23:40 with his dad. He does not get to go to church,
23:43 because his father no longer believes or attends.
23:46 Please pray for them. Love, Norah.
23:48 Well thank you so much for your letter.
23:50 Let's all pray for Jerry, maybe you could add
23:52 him to your prayer group and we'll pray
23:54 for Jerry's mom and his dad and also for Jerry.
23:58 Okay let's do that. What does your letter your say
24:00 Tiffany. My letter is from Jamaica.
24:03 Wow read that letter. Says dear Brenda,
24:07 my son's name is Roosevelt. We call him
24:09 Joey and he enjoys watching your program
24:12 on Sabbath mornings. He has been asking me
24:15 week after week to remember to send
24:17 you a letter and I have made special effort
24:19 to do so today. Joey learns a lot on Kids Time,
24:23 he enjoys the part of the program about animals
24:27 and the songs the children sing, but most
24:30 importantly he loves to hear you read letters.
24:34 Please send him one of your books as he loves
24:37 to read. Looking forward to your program next
24:40 Sabbath. You and your team are doing a
24:42 great job. Keep it up. Yours truly, Joey's mother.
24:48 Well thank you so much for that letter Joey
24:51 and keep sharing Jesus okay.
24:52 Well boys and girls usually I would like to
24:54 tell you where we are and when we get letter
24:56 I would like to tell you where is the letter
24:58 is from, but I'm not going to do that today
25:00 to protect this little girl, because she lives
25:02 in a country that is not allowed to share Jesus
25:05 and I don't want to get her in any trouble.
25:07 So I'm going to read her letter to you
25:09 but not tell you where it's from,
25:10 it says dear Miss Brenda, I'm eleven
25:12 years old and I'm a regular viewer of Kids Time.
25:16 We're not allowed to have prayer or
25:18 any ministries here according to the rule
25:20 of my country, but we secretly do have prayer
25:23 and we know that some day we will be allowed
25:27 to have prayers when Jesus come that is
25:30 written in Bible telling us that is possible.
25:33 Please pray for us in this country.
25:36 We are five people in our family
25:38 and my parents, my brother and my sister
25:40 and me. I share Jesus with my schoolmates.
25:43 She slipped from the stairs and I caught
25:46 her suddenly and took her to the school nurse.
25:48 She wasn't a Christian, but she saw Jesus in me.
25:51 Please include her in your prayers too.
25:53 God bless her, as well as you Miss Brenda.
25:56 We love Kid's Time from God's daughter Joline.
25:59 Joline, thank you so much for your letter
26:01 and you know what boys and girls I want
26:02 you to pray for Joline's country that every
26:05 people every where will get to know about Jesus
26:07 and worship openly. Wouldn't that be
26:08 wonderful, you know Tiffany could you Joline
26:11 on your prayer list when you go back and
26:12 have your friends in your prayer club,
26:14 pray for Joline and her country. Right.
26:16 Okay. Well that's all the time we have today
26:18 boys and girls I want to thank you for joining us
26:20 and thank you Tiffany for being with us today
26:23 and sharing about your prayer club.
26:25 Boys and girls, keep sharing Jesus everyday
26:27 won't you, because remember
26:29 it's kid's time to share Jesus.
