00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:06 looking for a friend like Jesus. It's time to share 00:11 there's a world out there; let's tell them that He 00:14 loves us so. Let's tell them that He loves us so. 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:24 Hi boys and girls, I'm feeling kind of hungry 00:27 right now. In fact some of my mom's hot 00:30 homemade bread right of the oven, sounds so 00:33 good right now. But I can promise you I'm not 00:37 going to eat this bread. This doesn't look very 00:40 appetizing does it; with all this mold on it, can 00:44 you see that? Oh yucky mold. Even though it's 00:48 not a lot of fun to look at, I have a reason for 00:51 showing you this mold today. You see mold 00:54 can be a very bad thing and it's everywhere. 00:58 The mold that I'm showing you has grown on food. 01:01 But molds can grow on paper and carpet and 01:05 wood as well as food. In fact there are 01:09 mold spores in the air all of the time. 01:12 Now are you wondering why I said that mold 01:14 can be a bad thing. Well, if you were to eat 01:17 this bread and I know you wouldn't, it would 01:20 make you sick and the kind of molds that you 01:22 breathe in the air can make people sick. 01:25 But you may be surprised to learn that a very 01:28 good thing, in fact a wonderful thing has 01:31 come from mold, yes, mold. Way back in 1929, 01:38 a man by the name of Alexander Fleming, 01:40 he discovered that mold contained an ingredient 01:43 that could actually fight the bacteria 01:45 that cause infections. And because of this 01:48 discovery penicillin became a very powerful 01:51 antibiotic that has saved millions of lives. 01:55 And all that good came out of what we think of 01:58 as a bad thing. Uh mold. Well today's Bible story 02:04 will tell you about a bad thing that happened and 02:07 how God who is, He is much smarter than 02:09 Alexander Fleming. He brought something 02:11 good out of it. Sometimes bad things happen 02:15 to us or to people that we care about. 02:18 And when they do we might not be able to see 02:21 anything good about it at all. But you know what 02:25 God has a way of bringing good things. 02:28 Things we call blessings out of 02:29 unhappy circumstances. So, if something bad is 02:34 happening in your life just trust in God 02:37 and keep watching for him to surprise you with 02:39 a very special blessing. You know Jesus has 02:43 given us many blessings to nature and right now 02:46 Ranger Jim is going to show us one of 02:48 those blessings, sheep with very short legs. 02:59 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim saying 03:01 welcome to Nature Time. We're glad you can 03:03 join us today, we have a special friend here 03:05 with us today Connie. And we have some 03:07 sheep that have a name about this long. 03:10 Connie, what do you call these? These are 03:12 Miniature Old English Babydoll Southdown Sheep. 03:15 They originally came from England and a gentleman 03:17 in Washington bred them and even started 03:20 registry service for them. From there they've 03:22 spread to other people throughout the country. 03:24 This one has an orange tag in his ear and that's 03:27 used for registration purposes 03:29 for his identification. And like you may see, 03:31 boys and girls, you may see cows out in the field 03:34 and they're wearing ear tags and that looks very 03:36 uncomfortable to you doesn't it? But that's 03:38 the only way you can identify them. 03:39 When you have a large flock of sheep the only 03:42 way you can identify them is having the name tag. 03:44 And so this is a young buck right, he's a little 03:47 broader than the others, is he overweight? 03:49 Yes he is. We very much have to limit the 03:51 amount of feed that we give them because 03:53 they can become overweight very easily. 03:55 The Ewes don't have as much of a problem 03:57 with that because they nurse young and that 03:59 helps keep the weight off of them. 04:01 But this guy right here really likes his feed 04:03 and it shows on him. And so he walks 04:05 around as broad as he is long and so all he does 04:08 is walk around and eat. And so this is true, 04:11 they're miniature sheep but we would think 04:13 that they're still referred to the female 04:15 as known as Ewe, yes, and the ram or buck, right. 04:18 Okay and then of course they are lambs. 04:21 And what about their fleece, do you shear 04:22 these as you do with other sheep? 04:24 Every spring we shear their wool and some 04:26 people spin it into yarn and then make clothes 04:29 and different things out of it. And they don't 04:32 require as you could guess boys and girls 04:33 they don't require any special protection 04:35 in the winter time. We're here in 04:38 Central Iowa, where it gets very cold but 04:40 these sheep are very comfortable, they're 04:41 walking around in a very, very heavy wool coat. 04:45 In fact they can lay down on the snow 04:47 and go to sleep. When they awaken 04:48 in the morning the snow isn't even melted, 04:50 they're so well insulated. And, tell me this now, 04:54 this one is a baby back here the dark one. 04:56 She was born this spring in March. 04:58 And so she is, she won't be a year old until next 05:01 March, but she's almost as large as her mother. 05:03 Yes she is, they grow very quickly. 05:05 And what about multiple births in these? 05:07 The first time they have babies, they normally 05:10 have one lamb and then with each birth 05:12 after that they will normally have twins. 05:15 And so that way you can really build a herd 05:17 quickly, can't you? Yes. As long as you have 05:18 that and so you have the ram and the two 05:20 ewes and so then you can build that up 05:23 and move from there. Well tell me this, 05:25 you've already said that they don't eat much, 05:27 so they're easy to keep aren't they? Right. 05:29 And they're quite a new breed but they would make 05:31 an ideal pet wouldn't they for someone to have. 05:33 Yes, they will. I noticed they're very gentle, 05:35 they're not flighty, they don't run. And so they're 05:38 very good for that. Now some are black 05:40 and some are white, are they different sheep or? 05:42 No that's still the same breed of sheep, it's just 05:44 different color variations that they come in. 05:46 This one was very dark black when she was born 05:49 but from being out in the sun she has faded 05:51 to this brown color. And that's much as same as 05:54 in bison, when the baby bison's born 05:56 he may be darker but then 05:57 then he is getting lighter all the time. 05:59 And so I'm going to reach back and they 06:01 don't have horns, when they're adults 06:02 they don't have horns. No. Even the buck 06:04 doesn't have horns. Right. They don't have horns. 06:06 May I touch you, oh his fleece is very warm. 06:10 Okay and we were talking a moment ago 06:12 about shearing, taking the fleece off. 06:15 And when you take the fleece off 06:16 boys and girls you are going around, 06:18 you can put your hand down on them 06:19 and they're very warm I think. 06:20 Yes, you can just feel the heat coming 06:21 off of their bodies. And so they're well 06:23 insulated and these creatures' boys and girls 06:26 are like other sheep and the fact that 06:28 they're very gentle, very docile. 06:31 And when I think of sheep I always think 06:33 that they are many, many texts in the Bible 06:36 that refer to sheep, perhaps the most 06:38 referred to animal in all of the Bible is sheep. 06:41 And sheep are always the gentle ones and 06:44 Jesus quite often as Bible is referred to as 06:46 the Lamb of God. And so in that sense Jesus 06:49 was meek and lowly, and He was our savior. 06:53 And so these sheep are much easier to lead 06:56 then they are to drive because they have 06:58 a stubborn streak and when you try to drive 07:00 them they become disorient, they become 07:02 frighten and they run and scatter in all directions. 07:05 And as our friend Connie was saying when we're 07:06 trying to get the sheep to come up here 07:08 and cooperate, where one goes they all will go. 07:11 They would just follow the leader and scattering 07:12 one everywhere. And I think there is a lesson 07:15 there for boys and girls also. 07:17 Don't follow the crowd okay boys and girls, 07:20 don't follow the crowd. Someone may go out 07:23 of the school grounds, say oh this is okay 07:24 to do this or to do that. But don't you believe it, 07:29 you do what you know was right. 07:31 So as always Ranger Jim here saying, 07:34 don't forget to tell Jesus that you love him 07:36 because he really does love you. 07:48 Hello boys and girls, I'm here with 07:50 my daughter Hannah Grace. Hannah, 07:53 how's home schooling going? Good, good. 07:56 What's 2+2? 4. Okay good. 08:00 What's the capital of Michigan? Lansing. 08:03 Wow, you know a lot of things. 08:05 But daddy I know something more important. 08:08 What's that? Brandon got into the spaghetti sauce. 08:12 Brandon, Robert, Kyle. Boys and girls I didn't 08:17 know Brandon got into the spaghetti sauce, 08:20 I guess there's a lot of stuff I just don't know 08:23 but God knew, because God knows everything. 08:33 God knows everything and everything means anything 08:39 God knows everything 08:42 'cause everything God knows 08:46 God knows everything and everything means anything 08:52 God knows everything 08:55 'cause everything God knows 09:01 Lord even me for I say your word 09:04 You already know what I'm going to say 09:08 You're all around me in front and back 09:12 You have put your hands on me, 09:19 God knows everything and everything means anything 09:25 God knows everything 09:28 'cause everything God knows 09:31 Lord you know my future before I begin you know 09:36 What I've done what I went through again 09:39 You go before me and you're already there, 09:43 you know all my thoughts and prays. 09:50 Your love is amazing to me, 09:55 is more than I can understand, 10:03 God knows everything and everything means anything 10:09 God knows everything 10:12 'cause everything God knows 10:16 'Cause everything God knows 10:32 Everybody likes peanut butter, peanut butter on 10:34 sandwiches, peanut butter on cookies 10:36 even peanut butter on celery. 10:38 But I'm going to make you peanut butter bread. 10:41 Yup, peanut butter bread and here's the recipe. 10:46 2 cups flour 10:48 2 tsp. Rumford baking powder 10:51 Egg replacer equivalent of 1 egg 10:54 3/4 cup peanut butter ½ cup honey 11:00 And 3/4 cup better than milk (original flavor). 11:04 And we're gonna start with Rumford baking powder. 11:08 We mix it, the dry ingredients together 11:10 in the flour. If you don't mix it up real good 11:16 then there will be more baking powder 11:17 in certain sections than others, okay. 11:24 Then we're gonna do our egg replacer. 11:25 Now the egg replacer has no egg in it; 11:28 it's just to replace the egg and 11:29 its equivalent of one egg. 11:33 And mix that with the water here. 11:42 And you just wanna do it just until it's mixed, 11:44 not too much but mixed up. Move the stuff off 11:54 the side, okay. Then we're gonna add 12:06 our honey and peanut butter. The honey in first 12:10 so we can get peanut butter to get all 12:12 mixed up, okay. Uh sticky, alright. 12:24 Get as much of it out as you can and then 12:33 peanut butter and you can use crunchy or creamy, 12:40 but I like crunchy 'cause it gives a little more 12:43 crunch, well, okay mix up. Uh sticky, okay, alright. 13:17 Almost done, okay. You got that all 13:26 mixed up you're gonna add our flour, okay. 13:42 Mix that all up, it's a really easy recipe too. 13:45 You don't even have to knead the dough, 13:47 all you need to do is, oops spilled some, 13:50 all you have to do is just when you 13:52 finished stirring, just dump it in the pan 13:57 and you're done. Oops don't do what I did, 14:01 I forgot the milk. I've less trouble stirring 14:05 if I've remembered the milk, okay there we go. 14:20 Keep stirring until it looks about like this. 14:22 It looks so different with my milk doesn't it? 14:24 Speaking of milk this is better than milk, 14:27 soy milk and it doesn't have any 14:29 dairy products in it. And it's my family's 14:33 favorite but you can really use any kind of 14:34 soy milk. And now we're gonna put it in our pan, 14:40 spray the pan first. Scoop this into here, 14:53 okay, get it all in here. The nice thing about this 15:05 part is you don't have to knead it or anything 15:07 you just kind of stirring up, stirring it up and, 15:13 put it right in this. As much as you can, alright. 15:25 Okay, almost done. Smooth it all on the top, 15:35 little bit. And we're gonna bake this at 15:42 350 for about 40 minutes or until it looks 15:46 brown on the top. But I've got a sample 15:50 here for you to see, just what it looks like 15:55 when it's done. I like to slice a piece for you now, 16:01 show you how nice and moist it is inside. 16:11 Well, that's all there is to it. So until next time, 16:15 keep cooking and eat healthy. 16:28 Here little lamb, little lamb, where are you? 16:33 I know you're here somewhere? 16:36 Have you seen my little lamb? I think I hear him; 16:41 he must be around here somewhere. 16:45 There you are, it's okay I'll be right with you. 16:49 I'm gonna tell them a quick story. 16:52 My name is Reuben; I'm the oldest brother 16:55 of 12 to my father Jacob. Now, a long time ago, 17:02 we lived in a place where we had to work very 17:06 hard for ourselves. We had many sheep 17:09 that we had to tend to. And each one of my 17:11 brothers and I took care of them. 17:13 I being the oldest one I held a lot of 17:15 responsibility and unfortunately I wasn't 17:17 too good of an example to some of my 17:19 brothers because we used to pick on my 17:21 little brother Joseph. He wasn't the littlest of 17:23 them all but he was the middle one. 17:26 And what made things even worse was 17:28 that our father really favored Joseph. 17:32 He went once so far as to make Joseph 17:34 a beautiful, beautiful robe. None of us had 17:37 beautiful robes like he did. And Joseph had 17:40 many dreams, which he told us about, we called him 17:44 the dreamer because that's what he seemed to be. 17:47 One day all of us brothers got together 17:51 and thought we should do something 17:52 about this Joseph. We should get rid of him; 17:56 we didn't like the fact that our father loved 17:58 him above us. And so some brothers decided 18:02 we should kill him while others suggested 18:06 well maybe, maybe we should do something else. 18:08 I suggested that we merely cast him into a ditch, 18:12 we leave him there. In the hopes that my brothers 18:14 would go away and I return and I would fetch 18:17 my brother out and send him away. 18:19 I didn't want to hurt him, didn't seem like 18:22 the right thing to do and plus my father, 18:24 he held me responsible for my little brothers. 18:27 And I just couldn't stand the thought of 18:30 hurting him. Well, when I came back to help 18:35 my brother he was gone, it turns out that 18:41 my brothers had sold him into slavery. 18:43 I was so distraught, I didn't know what to do. 18:46 How could I explain this to my father. 18:48 I knew I would just kill him. So we decided 18:51 we would take that precious robe that he 18:54 had made for Joseph, we would dip it into blood 18:57 and then present it to our father so that he 18:59 would know that something terrible had happened. 19:01 Not our fault but that some animal had come 19:04 and had killed Joseph and this is all we 19:07 had to show. Well, that's what we did and, 19:11 I'll never forget just how terrible it felt to 19:14 just sit there and watch my father cry. 19:16 Well he cried for days, his precious Joseph 19:19 was dead. Not long after that there was a 19:23 terrible famine that came across the land 19:25 and we started running short on food. 19:29 So our father, he send us brothers that 19:33 remained to Egypt. Oh, what we were about 19:38 to experience, we had no idea what it was 19:41 going to be like to meet our brother Joseph 19:44 Whom we had lost so long ago, we went to Egypt 19:48 to get food and there standing in front of us 19:51 was not just the governor of Egypt but it was our 19:55 own brother Joseph. Oh we cried, we laughed, 19:59 he kissed each of us, he even was so kind as to 20:03 send us back here, back to our father's land 20:06 to tell him of the good news that Joseph was 20:09 no longer dead, he was no longer missing, 20:12 he was alive. And he wanted us to go live 20:15 with him; in fact he gave us the finest land in 20:19 all of Egypt to call our own. So now I'm here 20:23 getting everything ready, our father is so excited. 20:27 20 years, can you imagine thinking your son; 20:29 your precious son is dead. And now he knows 20:32 he's alive and he can't wait to see him, 20:34 our father is so old but he's so willing to 20:36 make the big trip to Egypt. So we can be 20:39 with him forever, here we had thought we 20:42 had done a terrible thing. That God was surely 20:44 going to curse us for the rest of our lives and yet 20:47 he has made this wonderful thing take place. 20:50 Where would we be without our brother Joseph. 20:53 I thank you for listening to my story, 20:54 I love to spend more time, but I've got to find 20:57 that sheep and I've got to get everything 20:59 else ready for our big trip. So I hope 21:01 you have a good day, bye, bye, come on. 21:19 The Lord is my shepherd, I'll walk with Him always 21:26 He leads through green pastures, 21:29 I'll walk with Him always Always, Always, 21:36 I'll walk with Him always Always, Always, 21:42 I'll walk with Him always The Lord is my shepherd, 21:49 I'll walk with Him always 21:53 He leads through green pastures, 21:56 I'll walk with Him always Always, Always, 22:03 I'll walk with Him always Always, Always, 22:09 I'll walk with Him always 22:25 Thank you Kaitlyn for that beautiful song. 22:28 Well boys and girls I would like you to meet 22:30 someone today that has come a long way 22:33 to be with me. This is Alice. 22:35 Alice, can you say hi, hi. I'm so glad you 22:39 could be with us today and you brought 22:40 someone with you. I let them pet Quigley 23:02 and I gave him this card, wait a minute. 23:04 Where did you take Quigley? 23:06 To the nursing home where there were 23:07 lots of people in wheelchairs and he, 23:10 wait a minute, slow down so they can hear you. 23:12 You went to the nursing home where there was 23:14 lots of people in the wheelchairs? Yes. 23:17 And then what did you do and they petted Quigley, 23:19 yeah and I gave them this card that says 23:23 Jesus loves you and so do we, Alice and Quigley 23:27 and I wrote all that. You wrote all that, 23:29 can I see that. I wrote all of this but the front 23:33 part mommy wrote. What does it that say? 23:38 It says, this is how we know what love is, 23:43 Jesus Christ lay down his life for us. 23:45 That's nice, that's a wonderful way to win 23:47 us over. And this is for you. And that's mine, 23:49 oh thank you.
