00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there,
00:07 Looking for a friend like Jesus. It's time to share 00:11 there's a world out there; let's tell them 00:14 that He loves us so. Let's tell them that He 00:18 loves us so. Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:25 Hello, boys and girls. Do you know what kind of 00:27 animal this is? Can you guess? That's right, it's a 00:31 giraffe. And what is the first thing you notice about 00:34 a giraffe? Could it be the very interesting pattern 00:37 of hair all over it's body or maybe its long legs, 00:42 or maybe it's nubs, nubby horns right here on the 00:45 top of his head. I'm pretty sure though that the very 00:49 first thing you noticed was it's very 00:51 long, long neck. You know, the giraffe has the 00:55 longest neck of any mammal and that use of that 00:59 neck to reach high into the trees to eat leaves. 01:02 And actually the giraffe eats mostly from a tree 01:05 called the Cashew Tree. Now, they eat it's leaves 01:09 and twigs and the bark, but they are most careful 01:13 not to eat a certain part of that tree and do you 01:15 know, what that is it's the sharp thorns that nestle 01:18 among its leaves. God gave the giraffe's long neck 01:23 to reach high up into the trees. And he also gave a 01:26 tough rubbery lips that have very thick saliva to help 01:30 protected against pokes and pricks from those 01:32 thorny cashew trees. Sometimes I wish you and I 01:36 could be more or like that giraffe even though it 01:39 finds itself surrounded by both good and bad, 01:42 it chooses only the good. The giraffe knows that 01:47 choosing the bad trying to eat those thorns would 01:50 cause him a lot of pain. And we humans just, 01:53 I know who is smart aren't we, we figure that 01:56 listening to songs with bad words won't really 01:58 hurt us all that much or but watching TV or 02:01 movies with people, hitting and fighting, and 02:03 shooting, and killing each other. Well, I heard this 02:06 that much either, but the truth is, we need to be 02:10 more or like that giraffe, choosing only the things 02:13 that God's wants us to choose, things that won't 02:16 hurt us. Do you know, if we do that boys and girls, 02:20 we're gonna be happier and healthier just like that 02:23 wise giraffe. Let's listen what Ranger Jim tells 02:26 us a little bit more about giraffes. 02:35 Hi, boys and girls. Ranger Jim saying welcome to 02:38 Nature Time. Look what we have today, we're in 02:40 beautiful Silver Springs Florida again. We have 02:42 our friend Jessie with us and, what is this, Jessie? 02:45 This is giraffe; it's almost 20 foot tall. And he comes 02:48 to us from Africa. This is Kemah, this is one 02:51 of the giraffes here in Silver Springs can 02:53 actually come up and actually feed right here 02:55 Silver Spring. Isn't that a thrill? What a beautiful 02:57 creature, boys and girls you're seeing him on film, 02:59 but unless you see him in person, this creature 03:03 can a two story house. He could eat leaves off of 03:06 the top of your house, he is so tall. And his tongue 03:09 is 18 inches long, look at that. Now, they tell me 03:12 that is perfectly possible that you might hold one 03:14 of these in your mouth. I think so, Jim. And he will 03:17 take it. Oh! My, my boys and girls you would 03:22 come they won't let you do that, but you can 03:24 come and feed him out of your hand, okay. These, 03:27 and you know, did you see the color of his tongue? 03:30 Yes, I did. You know, why it's real dark. 03:32 No, I don't. Because they have got their head up 03:33 all the time in the sunshine and they're grazing off 03:36 the tree, so it doesn't get sunburn. Isn't that 03:39 beautiful? Wonderful, wonderful, boys and girls 03:40 they're so many wonderful things about the giraffe 03:43 as long as his neck is, it's still has seven 03:46 vertebrae as do most mammals and they're greatly 03:49 elongated. As you can imagine and what's the 03:51 height that he has, he has a special heart to pump 03:54 that blood up to his brain, which is up in the air 03:58 20 feet like he is raising his head now. Can you 04:01 imagine the normal average mammal what's that 04:05 kind of heart and that kind of blood vessels, if he 04:07 certainly lowered his heart. Any other creature that 04:10 God made that did just what he did without the 04:12 special adaptations that he has would die. Some 04:15 people will find that even if they're sitting down 04:17 or they aren't feeling well, if they quickly stand up 04:20 because of the blood pressure is different they 04:21 become dizzy maybe even faint. This creature and 04:24 his neck as special veins, they are very elastic, they 04:29 have valves in them. So, that the blood pressure 04:31 is always flowing in that direction and when he 04:33 wants to lower his head to eat or drink, he must 04:37 spread his leg at a 45 degree angle and then put 04:39 his head down to taking water, if he did not have 04:43 the elastic veins and arteries in his brain, if he 04:46 didn't have all of the specialized equipment, 04:49 the blood pressure would be so great that the 04:51 arteries in his brain would explode also these 04:54 creatures are the only creatures that have horns 04:56 at birth. And as you can see, he has horns and they 04:59 are covered the male and the female that are covered 05:02 with skin. And they're quite soft and you have 05:05 a big bony prominence out here. The males get that 05:07 as they get older, it builds up and that's the way 05:10 they fight for mating rides. They gather two males, 05:13 will approach each other, the long necks and 05:15 began to rub and feel out each other, see how 05:17 strong they are? Didn't what they decide to fight, 05:20 they just lean off to one side and began to bang 05:22 each other their heads. Now, that sounds dumb, 05:25 doesn't it? But if you're a giraffe and you've a bony 05:28 head like that and sometimes most usually 05:31 they miss, but if they strike each other 05:33 sometimes, when the giraffes is knock to the 05:35 ground unconscious and after they bang heads 05:38 for a while. They decide which guy deserves the 05:40 female and the other guy retreats. So, that's the 05:44 way they do that. Now, another exciting time is, 05:46 when a baby is born you can see how tall this 05:49 creature is. And when the baby emerges from the 05:54 mother's birth channel. You can see 05:56 that is quite distant to the ground and rarely is the 05:58 baby injured, okay. It hits the ground so hard it 06:01 almost bounces and I can assure you that is not like 06:04 in the delivery room where baby needs to be spank 06:06 to take his first breathe that baby gets his breathe 06:09 very quickly. Now, around the neck, when they 06:12 were here and you could see them, there is ridge 06:14 around the neck of the giraffe that is the sixth 06:17 lowest one. The lowest one the thoracic part of the 06:21 neck that he has to that vertebrae, it has 06:24 projections, bony projections that go off 06:26 to the side of it and attached to that is bones 06:29 and ligaments that's what holds the neck erect, 06:33 much the same as in modern day cranes that we 06:35 have, if you see a crane out here working on the 06:37 construction site, you will see cables going off 06:40 the side of it that is the same thing that God use 06:42 with this creature. He attached those ligaments 06:45 and muscles there that holds the neck up right, 06:47 so that it can manipulate go up and down and all 06:50 around. So, the giraffe is the wonderful creature. 06:53 There is one sad note that 50 percent of all giraffe 06:56 babies that are born die to predators the first year 07:00 of their life. Okay, so it is the dangerous thing to 07:02 be a baby giraffe because the giraffe doesn't have a 07:05 greater amount, a lot of ability to defend it they 07:09 can also, they can walk on you or stomp on you or 07:12 something of that affect, but the giraffe is a 07:15 tremendous creature, he has huge feet and he has 07:19 the ability to run at 35 miles an hour. Boys and 07:22 girls, I hope you enjoy this today. We want to 07:24 thank our friend Jessie; he has been so helpful, 07:26 so hospitable all the people here have just helped 07:29 us so much today. And we hope you have enjoyed 07:32 this. So, this is Ranger Jim as always telling you, 07:34 don't forget to tell Jesus that you love him 07:36 because he really does love you. 07:56 Hello, boys and girls. Welcome to the Kids Time 07:59 construction set. Where we're building, that is not 08:03 just as its building. God is building, he is building 08:06 a brand new you. Everyday, he wants to make 08:09 you more-and-more like him. So, don't worry 08:13 even when you blow remember 08:14 you're still under construction. 08:21 Kids under construction Maybe the paint is still wet 08:29 Kids under construction The Lord may not be finished 08:34 yet. We're more than just accidents without the 08:39 the cause; We're more than just bodies and brains. 08:44 God made us on purpose; we're part of a plan. 08:48 He cares and He knows us by name. 08:53 Kids under construction Maybe the paint is still wet 09:00 Kids under construction The Lord may not be finished 09:06 yet. I try to remember the manner I've learn 09:12 My yes moms and thank you and please 09:16 But I guess you think that more often and not 09:20 How are you and hi aunties 09:24 Kids under construction Maybe the paint is still wet 09:31 Kids under construction The Lord may not be finished 09:37 yet. Dear Jesus, please make me more patient and 09:42 kind, And help us to be more like You. 09:47 And make room for all other children of Yours, 09:51 For they are still growing up, too. 09:55 Kids under construction Maybe the paint is still wet 10:03 Kids under construction the Lord may not be finished yet. 10:10 The Lord may not be finished yet. 11:33 I'm King Nebuchadnezzar. I rule a great kingdom 11:37 called Babylon. Let me tell you a story. The story 11:42 about some young man, who are taking captives by 11:45 my armies during the last war. It was time for me 11:48 to look at the teenage boys. My soldiers had 11:50 brought from the land of Israel. I wanted to choose 11:54 between the best of them, and let them study in 11:56 schools of Babylon. When the group was brought in, 12:00 I looked at each boy; four of the boys had a special 12:03 bright look about them. I could see that they were 12:06 friends; I asked my servant, what their names 12:08 were? He told me, they were called Daniel, 12:11 Shadrach, Meshach, and the Abednego. Maybe 12:15 those four boys should be a part of my special 12:17 group. I appointed it my servant said to him move 12:22 the boys away from the others. Servant, I said, 12:25 take these boys away, get them cleaned up first. 12:29 They must give them new clothes and cut their 12:31 hair, when it is time for meals bring them to the 12:35 Lord dining room. Give them fruit from my table, 12:39 I want them to eat, what I eat, I want them to 12:41 drink, what I drink. This is the way to get strong 12:44 them strong quickly and be ready for school. 12:48 I thought this was a nice way to treat these boys, 12:50 who had been captured during the war. I thought 12:53 they would be happy to get such good care, but 12:56 there were some things I didn't know. Something's 12:59 I wouldn't know until much later. I didn't know 13:03 that these four Hebrew boys were worried about 13:05 my food and my drinks. They didn't want to eat 13:09 certain meats. They didn't want to drink my strong 13:12 drinks. They wanted to be polite and obedient, 13:15 when my servant brought them their first meal, 13:18 but they couldn't forget what their mothers and 13:20 fathers had taught them. Before they were captured 13:23 in the war and most of all they wanted to be true to 13:26 their God in heaven. Oh, I didn't know anything about 13:30 their God in heaven. I had my own God's, I had 13:33 some little gold God's, I had some big wooden 13:36 God's, some of my God's look like animals and 13:38 others like people. I had lots of God's, but none of 13:42 my God's were in heaven, they were in the closet or on 13:45 a shelf or under the bed. Sometimes I even forgot 13:49 about my God's, but the four Hebrew boys didn't 13:53 forget about their God in heaven. They talk to him, 13:57 they prayed to him, they ask their God to help 13:59 them, now what to do. I didn't know that Daniel 14:02 and his three friends decided to talk to my 14:04 servant and I didn't know that the servant 14:07 disobeyed my order to give the captured boys 14:10 foods and drink from my table. Please, please they 14:13 said, would it be alright sir, if we ate something 14:16 else. It wouldn't have to be anything special just 14:19 some vegetables and cereal. And instead of the 14:22 strong wine from the king's table, could we have 14:25 good plain water to drink. Oh! I didn't know that 14:28 my servant like Daniel and his three friends very 14:31 much. He wanted to do, what they were asked? 14:34 But, but he was afraid, he didn't see how it could 14:37 be done, he knew if while I was watching and see 14:41 how they were the captured boys looked they ate 14:43 food from my table, my servant also knew that if 14:47 these four boys were thinner than the rest 14:49 because they didn't have the right food and drink. 14:53 I take his head off, but these three Hebrew boys, 14:58 four Hebrew boys had a secret plan. Their God in 15:01 heaven had given them a good idea. Oh! Sir, just 15:05 give us ten days, they asked please, please let us 15:08 try plain food and good water for just ten days. 15:11 Keep watching us each day to see if we are getting 15:14 thinner or weaker. Look us over and if do not look 15:17 Good then you can do whatever you think is best. 15:22 And you know, that secret plan worked. Oh! I 15:25 never even knew what was happening instead of 15:29 my getting, them getting meat and wine. 15:31 Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ate 15:34 vegetables, cereal and water day-by-day my 15:38 servant was assured that the boys faces would get 15:41 pale and thin. He was sure they would fall down 15:44 sick, but my servant was wrong. While at the end 15:48 of those ten days, those four young boys look 15:51 better happier and healthier then all the 15:54 others, who would eating food from my table. 15:56 So, everyday my servant gave Daniel and his 15:59 friends all the vegetables and cereal and good plain 16:02 water they wanted. And when it was time for them 16:05 to go school, they soon became the smartest 16:08 students in the whole class. At the end of the three 16:12 years of schooling, well I have found Daniel, 16:14 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to go to be the 16:17 finest young man in my kingdom. In fact, they 16:20 were ten times smarter then all the Wiseman and 16:23 the magicians in Babylon. And that's when my 16:26 servant told me all those things, I didn't know 16:29 before and I was more than surprised that these 16:32 four young Hebrews had never eaten food from 16:35 my table. Oh! They had never tasted strong 16:39 wine, but they had prayed to their God in heaven 16:43 that he would help them. I must tell you, I don't 16:46 know anything about their God, but I think he 16:49 must be very, very powerful, powerful indeed. 17:15 I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee, 17:25 Precious Jesus, Savior Friend; 17:36 And I know that Thou art with me, 17:46 Wilt be with me to the end. 17:57 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! 18:07 How I've proved Him o'er and o'er; 18:17 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! 18:27 Oh, for grace to trust Him more! 18:37 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! 18:47 How I've proved Him o'er and o'er; 19:00 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! 19:10 Oh, for grace, Oh, for grace, 19:31 Oh, for grace to trust Him more! 19:54 trust Him more! 20:14 Thank you Joyce and Robert for that beautiful 20:16 song. You know, boys and girls Joyce and Robert 20:18 are brother and sister and that family harmony 20:20 it just can be that. So, thank you so much for 20:23 sharing that song. Well, right now, I'm gonna 20:25 check the mail. I'm gonna see if I have any letters 20:27 from you. And I do have some letters. I'm so 20:30 excited Oh! boys and girls I love hearing from 20:32 you and today I have some letters from South 20:36 Africa and I also have Jamaica and Canada and 20:41 Arkansas and all kinds of letters. I'm so excited, 20:46 but before I read them. I want to introduce you 20:50 to a very special guest that here today. 20:52 And he is the friend of mine and his name is 20:54 Ryan Lively. Thank you, Ryan for joining me 20:56 on Kids Time. And you know, I really like 21:00 the story you were telling me about how much 21:02 you love Jesus and that you pray to Jesus. 21:04 And you don't stop praying, when you're in school 21:06 do you? Yep. So, can you tell me now at lunch, 21:09 we always say our blessing you know, in our 21:12 blessing boys and girls is what we are praying, we 21:14 ask God thanking for us food. Tell me about 21:18 what happened in school? Well, when I, 21:22 it was in kindergarten and I said, when I started 21:26 going school, I would say my blessing at 21:29 lunch and after. That when you said, you would 21:32 say your blessing at lunch. Did you bow your 21:35 head to pray? Yeah, bowed my head, close my 21:38 eyes and after a while they would start asking 21:42 me what I was doing. Your classmates. 21:45 My classmates would start asking me, what I was 21:47 doing. And what did you said? I told them that I 21:50 was saying my blessing and thanking Jesus for the 21:53 food. And they asked what that was and I 21:59 explain to him that Jesus is love and helping 22:01 me, to thank him for a food blessing their 22:04 blessings. And so that, and so this, and so after 22:09 little while later, they ask, ask me, student ask 22:13 me, could you teach me how to say the 22:16 blessing. Isn't that wonderful. 22:17 Then some more and some more and 22:19 better all my class was saying the prayer at lunch 22:25 every week. Well, praise the Lord. You see 22:27 boys and girls, it's, it's not always easy to 22:29 stand up and do the right thing. And that part 22:31 would have been really easy for Ryan to sat 22:33 there and do quickly pray with his eyes and, did 22:35 you just think in front my food so that 22:36 they wouldn't know, he was praying, right. 22:38 But instead he bowed his head you know, that 22:41 reminds me somebody in the Bible that did that. 22:43 Do you remember? Daniel that prayed out in 22:46 the open, when he wasn't supposed to be praying. 22:48 That reminds me a lot about Daniel and look 22:50 you were able to witness to all your classmates. 22:53 That is just so wonderful boys and girls. And 22:55 you can do that too that something you can do 22:57 to share Jesus. Now, there is also time on the 23:00 playground that you were able to share Jesus. 23:02 What, what happen there? Well, there was, there 23:07 was some people that were picking on this girl. 23:11 And you know, they're picking on her because she 23:14 was blind in one eye. And I, I explained to 23:19 them the, that, that's not what Jesus wants 23:22 us to do that, it's wrong to pick on people just 23:26 because they can't do something or something, 23:28 They don't look just right. 23:29 Did they stop picking on her ? No, not at 23:33 first, but then they, when they had a chance to 23:38 think about it they stopped. And then they realized 23:42 that's not what Jesus want them to do. Oh! Well, praise 23:45 the Lord and also just, there was another 23:48 situation you have had some heart surgery and 23:50 you were able to witness in the hospital that, 23:53 that you turned that your you know, misfortune 23:56 of having heart problems and to a blessing to 23:59 others how, can you tell us how you did that? 24:03 Well, when I was going to have some surgery 24:07 one time, I asked all the doctors and nurses to pray 24:11 with me and. Praise the Lord. They prayed with 24:14 me and, and, and then sometimes when I have 24:17 my checkups now they asked me about Jesus. 24:21 Oh! That's wonderful. Well, Ryan thank you, 24:25 for, for sharing your, the ways that you share 24:27 Jesus with us. I wanna, just have time for a 24:30 quick letter boys and girls. This one from South 24:32 Africa and this one says, Dear, Brenda. I love 24:37 watching Kids Time and I'm 9-years-old and 24:40 doing home school. And we live in our farm outside 24:43 Riversdale in the Western Cape of South 24:45 Africa. I love Jesus very much and I play the 24:48 trumpet. We showed that we love Jesus, when 24:51 we help a women, who couldn't fit a wheel 24:52 bar went to the boot, boot of her car. I don't 24:55 know what that is, but it says we offer to take a 24:58 home for her, in our double cab pickup. And 25:02 she was very grateful. And it says, love and 25:05 regards, regards Standor and it says, PS my 25:10 mom wrote this letter to help me, as I'm still 25:12 learning English. Well, thank you so much for 25:15 your letter. I appreciate hearing from you. And 25:19 I, I just love getting the letters from you 25:21 boys and girls. I want to thank you Ryan for 25:23 being on the program today. You have had so 25:25 many wonderful ways to witness, it sounds like 25:28 you always find a way to introduce Jesus and 25:30 wherever you go, don't you? That's right. You 25:32 know, and even with the little girl that you're 25:35 telling me about earlier, would you didn't have 25:38 a chance to share with the boys and girls, but 25:39 you stopped them from picking on her. And I 25:41 was really proud of you for that that makes 25:43 Jesus so happy boys and girls. Whenever we 25:46 stand up and do the right thing, it makes Jesus 25:49 so proud of it, doesn't it? When we have a way 25:51 of sharing him, our actions with everything we 25:53 do throughout the day, whether it's the way we 25:56 behave towards our classmates at school or if 25:59 it's the way that we, we pray in public and 26:01 we're not ashamed of Jesus, we should never be 26:03 ashamed of Jesus, shouldn't we? Well, thank 26:05 you, very much Ryan for being here. I just, 26:08 I want you to encourage you to keep on sharing 26:10 Jesus, okay. Well, that's all the time we have 26:13 today boys and girls. Remember wherever 26:15 you're, wherever you go, 26:16 remember its Kids Time to share Jesus. |
