It's time to share there's a world out there 00:00:03.37\00:00:07.00 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:00:07.01\00:00:10.18 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:00:10.19\00:00:13.45 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:00:13.46\00:00:16.98 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:00:16.99\00:00:20.51 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:00:20.52\00:00:24.57 Hi, boys and girls. Are you hungry? 00:00:24.58\00:00:27.34 Oh, this bread here looks so delicious doesn't it? 00:00:27.35\00:00:31.44 Umm, and it smells really good too. 00:00:31.45\00:00:34.74 You know, it probably looks a little different 00:00:34.75\00:00:36.18 than the kind of bread you have 00:00:36.19\00:00:37.16 on your table at home, doesn't it? 00:00:37.17\00:00:39.03 You probably have which you make sandwiches out off, 00:00:39.04\00:00:41.43 you know, that kind of rises nice 00:00:41.44\00:00:43.46 and high in the oven and is probably about 00:00:43.47\00:00:45.59 that big along and your mom slices it off 00:00:45.60\00:00:48.28 and you have a nice slice of bread for sandwich 00:00:48.29\00:00:50.83 or maybe a piece of toast 00:00:50.84\00:00:52.52 but in Bible times they had something that was flatter, 00:00:52.53\00:00:55.03 more like this. 00:00:55.04\00:00:56.35 This is made out of nice whole wheat. 00:00:56.36\00:00:59.09 Well, I'm sure this is was delicious too 00:00:59.10\00:01:00.97 and I might even take a bite of this later on. 00:01:00.98\00:01:03.80 You know, I'm sure you probably 00:01:03.81\00:01:05.26 have a favorite food, don't you? 00:01:05.27\00:01:07.20 If you're like most children, you probably like pizza 00:01:07.21\00:01:09.80 and some people might say 00:01:09.81\00:01:11.00 that their favorite food in corn on the cob 00:01:11.01\00:01:12.96 or maybe tacos or watermelon, I like watermelon. 00:01:12.97\00:01:18.01 Then there are probably some foods 00:01:18.02\00:01:19.38 you don't like very much. 00:01:19.39\00:01:21.25 You might just turn up your nose on 00:01:21.26\00:01:22.78 something that your brother likes like peas or carrot 00:01:22.79\00:01:26.95 and maybe your best friend, 00:01:26.96\00:01:28.27 you're just like, oh, I can't believe 00:01:28.28\00:01:30.21 she's eating those lima beans 00:01:30.22\00:01:32.72 or maybe you can't understand 00:01:32.73\00:01:34.08 how your sister an enjoy drinking soymilk. 00:01:34.09\00:01:37.63 You know, that's okay 00:01:37.64\00:01:38.88 as long as you do eat enough of the foods 00:01:38.89\00:01:41.20 that are good for you. 00:01:41.21\00:01:42.89 But I wonder, have you ever really been hungry? 00:01:42.90\00:01:46.66 Now I don't mean simply feeling starved 00:01:46.67\00:01:48.97 after playing a game of basketball 00:01:48.98\00:01:50.69 or when you have dinner later than you usually do. 00:01:50.70\00:01:53.76 I mean the kind of gnawing hunger 00:01:53.77\00:01:56.28 that hurts your stomach because it's empty 00:01:56.29\00:01:59.45 and it's been empty for days. 00:01:59.46\00:02:01.44 I'm talking about that kind of hunger 00:02:01.45\00:02:03.86 that comes from going without a meal for a long time 00:02:03.87\00:02:07.52 and when a person is that hungry, 00:02:07.53\00:02:10.09 they don't usually complain about 00:02:10.10\00:02:11.67 anything that is served to them, 00:02:11.68\00:02:13.43 food, real food whether its spinach, 00:02:13.44\00:02:16.21 spaghetti, or coleslaw, 00:02:16.22\00:02:18.02 it looks like a banquet to them. 00:02:18.03\00:02:20.83 Now our Bible story today tells us about 00:02:20.84\00:02:23.07 some men who were really truly hungry 00:02:23.08\00:02:26.04 and it tells about a kind and generous woman, 00:02:26.05\00:02:28.93 who she just whipped up a meal big enough for an army, 00:02:28.94\00:02:32.09 that meal included like 200 loaves of flat round 00:02:32.10\00:02:35.77 bread probably something like this. 00:02:35.78\00:02:38.98 Sometimes an act of kindness can change people's lives 00:02:38.99\00:02:42.63 and prevent bad things from happening. 00:02:42.64\00:02:45.33 You will see what I mean 00:02:45.34\00:02:46.31 as you listen to our Bible story today 00:02:46.32\00:02:48.55 but first let's see what Ranger Jim 00:02:48.56\00:02:50.88 has to show us about eggs. 00:02:50.89\00:02:52.84 Hi, there, boys and girls. This is Ranger Jim again. 00:02:59.68\00:03:01.72 We are glad that you could join us on Kids Time. 00:03:01.73\00:03:04.19 We hope that you are enjoying the programs. 00:03:04.20\00:03:06.33 I want to talk to you something today 00:03:06.34\00:03:07.70 that we haven't shown before. 00:03:07.71\00:03:09.64 I want to talk to you about some eggs. 00:03:09.65\00:03:12.37 I know that you have seen eggs, 00:03:12.38\00:03:13.61 some of you maybe will eat eggs 00:03:13.62\00:03:15.34 and you have seen Robin's nest or a bird's nest in your yard 00:03:15.35\00:03:19.36 and that's fine. 00:03:19.37\00:03:20.34 You can go and look at that, if you have supervision 00:03:20.35\00:03:23.05 but I would recommend that you don't go too often 00:03:23.06\00:03:25.23 that you would frighten the mother bird, 00:03:25.24\00:03:26.49 she might abandon the nest. 00:03:26.50\00:03:28.06 But we have some eggs here today for you to see 00:03:28.07\00:03:30.16 and we have some on this log as you can see here. 00:03:30.17\00:03:33.48 And they all appear to be about the same 00:03:33.49\00:03:37.44 but in fact we have six things here that appear to be eggs, 00:03:37.45\00:03:41.65 but can you see which one is really the egg. 00:03:41.66\00:03:44.64 Well, we have some here that are quite round 00:03:44.65\00:03:47.98 and these are all stones. 00:03:47.99\00:03:49.74 The one that is the real egg is the killdeer egg 00:03:49.75\00:03:54.38 and it is sharp pointed as you can see. 00:03:54.39\00:03:57.57 And the reason its sharp pointed 00:03:57.58\00:03:58.76 is because the killdeer builds her nest on the ground 00:03:58.77\00:04:01.79 and the mother turns the eggs occasionally 00:04:01.80\00:04:04.38 to make sure that they stay warm all around. 00:04:04.39\00:04:06.78 They don't have a call spot on the bottom 00:04:06.79\00:04:08.79 and in turning her eggs on the ground on the level ground 00:04:08.80\00:04:11.69 if she would turn a regular egg that would be round, 00:04:11.70\00:04:15.06 it might roll away like a marble, 00:04:15.07\00:04:16.61 and she would have a terrible time getting it back, 00:04:16.62\00:04:18.72 so God created it so that the egg has a point on the end. 00:04:18.73\00:04:22.17 If the egg is disturbed and it rolls, 00:04:22.18\00:04:24.17 it will only roll around in the circle. 00:04:24.18\00:04:26.11 My wife and I had the opportunity 00:04:26.12\00:04:27.66 of going in to Alaska 00:04:27.67\00:04:29.07 and going out in the Bay of Alaska 00:04:29.08\00:04:30.60 and seeing some of those big high cliffs 00:04:30.61\00:04:32.18 where all of the kittiwakes and all of the blue bees 00:04:32.19\00:04:34.77 and different kind of birds nest. 00:04:34.78\00:04:37.18 And high up on the cliff, 500 feet above the ocean, 00:04:37.19\00:04:40.85 a shelf maybe just 8 inches wide 00:04:40.86\00:04:44.56 and if they happen to kick of those eggs 00:04:44.57\00:04:46.37 it rarely will roll off 00:04:46.38\00:04:47.49 because God designed those kind of birds 00:04:47.50\00:04:49.40 that have a very sharp point on them 00:04:49.41\00:04:51.34 and so they roll around in the circle. 00:04:51.35\00:04:53.73 Then we have a larger egg here on this stump 00:04:53.74\00:04:56.60 that you see and that is a wild turkey egg 00:04:56.61\00:04:59.02 and an interesting thing about that we've talked about 00:04:59.03\00:05:01.31 that some on another program, but the wild turkey, 00:05:01.32\00:05:03.67 she goes out and lays an egg as a test egg in the area 00:05:03.68\00:05:07.00 where she wants to build a nest to raise her children 00:05:07.01\00:05:09.79 and she leaves it there for about five or six days 00:05:09.80\00:05:12.51 and if an opossum or a raccoon hasn't come along 00:05:12.52\00:05:15.04 and made a dinner of it 00:05:15.05\00:05:16.26 then she feels its safe to build a nest 00:05:16.27\00:05:19.12 and to lay the rest of her eggs 00:05:19.13\00:05:21.48 and that's what she does. 00:05:21.49\00:05:22.64 She lays about 20-25 eggs and they are usually safe 00:05:22.65\00:05:26.02 from a marauding raccoon or an opossum. 00:05:26.03\00:05:28.71 Then we have an egg here that is a very unusual color 00:05:28.72\00:05:32.71 and that is the emu egg. 00:05:32.72\00:05:34.73 Interesting thing about the emu 00:05:34.74\00:05:36.32 because the daddy does all the hatching. 00:05:36.33\00:05:38.08 I don't think I would like that. 00:05:38.09\00:05:39.82 The daddy sits on the nest and hatches the eggs. 00:05:39.83\00:05:42.18 That is the emu nest egg and my friend gave me that, 00:05:42.19\00:05:45.72 that would be many years ago and it's about worn-out. 00:05:45.73\00:05:48.04 I have carried it around different places and showing it. 00:05:48.05\00:05:50.74 And I have an egg here I want to hold up to show you, 00:05:50.75\00:05:53.93 that this is the largest of the eggs. 00:05:53.94\00:05:57.49 Can you guess what this egg is? 00:05:57.50\00:05:59.84 Of course, this is the ostrich egg. 00:05:59.85\00:06:02.24 Now an ostrich is a tremendously 00:06:02.25\00:06:04.75 large powerful bird and the father bird, 00:06:04.76\00:06:08.52 the daddy bird will stand 8 feet tall. 00:06:08.53\00:06:10.53 Range Jim is 6 feet tall and I weigh about 185 pounds, 00:06:10.54\00:06:15.76 but the male ostrich may weigh 350 pounds. 00:06:15.77\00:06:20.18 Can you imagine such a bird is that? 00:06:20.19\00:06:22.04 That's why you can make a lot of scrambled eggs 00:06:22.05\00:06:24.58 with an egg from an ostrich, couldn't you? 00:06:24.59\00:06:26.56 And also the ostrich is the fastest creature 00:06:26.57\00:06:29.40 that God made on two legs. 00:06:29.41\00:06:31.52 He can run at 45 miles an hour. 00:06:31.53\00:06:33.87 Can you imagine that? 00:06:33.88\00:06:35.28 Something that came out of this shell 00:06:35.29\00:06:36.82 can run 45 miles an hour. 00:06:36.83\00:06:39.46 So the ostrich egg is very strong. 00:06:39.47\00:06:43.41 I could just lay it on the ground 00:06:43.42\00:06:44.99 and I could stand on it, 00:06:45.00\00:06:45.97 if I carefully distributed my weight on it, 00:06:45.98\00:06:48.07 it wouldn't crush this egg. 00:06:48.08\00:06:50.02 So the ostrich is a very, very interesting creature 00:06:50.03\00:06:53.14 and I want to exchange 00:06:53.15\00:06:54.15 this for something that most people have never seen 00:06:54.16\00:06:58.38 and it's a tiny little hummingbird's nest. 00:06:58.39\00:07:02.78 And the hummingbird nest is a rarity in nature. 00:07:02.79\00:07:06.27 I have only seen four or five in my lifetime 00:07:06.28\00:07:08.85 of being in the out of doors. 00:07:08.86\00:07:10.77 The mother hummingbird builds her nest by going out 00:07:10.78\00:07:13.67 and collecting all kind of soft material. 00:07:13.68\00:07:15.97 She brings it back to her nest 00:07:15.98\00:07:17.82 then she ties it all together with spider web. 00:07:17.83\00:07:20.77 Isn't that interesting, she takes the spider web 00:07:20.78\00:07:22.98 and she weaves it all around 00:07:22.99\00:07:24.65 then she gathers lichen from the trees, 00:07:24.66\00:07:26.66 pieces of bark, soft things like that to build her nest 00:07:26.67\00:07:30.13 and then she lays her eggs. 00:07:30.14\00:07:32.48 Usually there are three sometimes four, 00:07:32.49\00:07:34.37 but usually there are three eggs in the nest 00:07:34.38\00:07:36.87 and she sits on the egg, incubates the eggs, 00:07:36.88\00:07:39.64 and when they hatch they are tiny little creatures like that. 00:07:39.65\00:07:42.81 They look like tiny little naked mice. 00:07:42.82\00:07:46.06 They don't have any feathers at all 00:07:46.07\00:07:47.73 and there's a tiny little beak sticking out. 00:07:47.74\00:07:50.08 And the first time you experience 00:07:50.09\00:07:51.98 a hummingbird feeding her babies 00:07:51.99\00:07:53.91 you think she will kill them for sure, 00:07:53.92\00:07:56.36 but she doesn't. She knows what she is doing. 00:07:56.37\00:07:58.84 She sticks her bill in their tiny little bill 00:07:58.85\00:08:01.18 and sticks it all the way down in to their stomach 00:08:01.19\00:08:03.86 and begins to pump in the sweet nectar 00:08:03.87\00:08:05.84 that she had just gathered from the petunias 00:08:05.85\00:08:08.05 and from the different blossoms all around the yard. 00:08:08.06\00:08:10.48 With her wings beating at 40-50 times a second, 00:08:10.49\00:08:13.80 can you imagine a second? 00:08:13.81\00:08:15.55 When I say one thousand and one, 00:08:15.56\00:08:17.46 her wings beat 45 or 50 times. 00:08:17.47\00:08:20.88 She can go up and down, 00:08:20.89\00:08:21.86 backwards and forwards, aren't they beautiful? 00:08:21.87\00:08:24.52 Haven't you seen them boys and girls? 00:08:24.53\00:08:25.72 They are just so beautiful. 00:08:25.73\00:08:26.92 One of the things that I look forward 00:08:26.93\00:08:28.77 to most in heaven will be, that we can be out 00:08:28.78\00:08:31.11 for a walk and hold our hands 00:08:31.12\00:08:32.51 and the hummingbirds will light on our hands 00:08:32.52\00:08:34.73 and we can talk to them, even have them as a pet. 00:08:34.74\00:08:37.57 Isn't that wonderful? 00:08:37.58\00:08:38.84 God provides for them and takes care of them 00:08:38.85\00:08:41.21 and there and there is an old wise fable around that, 00:08:41.22\00:08:42.97 may be the hummingbirds 00:08:42.98\00:08:44.27 they migrate south in the winter time 00:08:44.28\00:08:46.87 by hitching a ride on the back of geese. 00:08:46.88\00:08:48.65 Can you imagine such a story? 00:08:48.66\00:08:50.16 A lot of older people asked me that question 00:08:50.17\00:08:52.50 when I showed them a hummingbird 00:08:52.51\00:08:54.10 but that is not true. 00:08:54.11\00:08:55.57 The hummingbird we know now today, 00:08:55.58\00:08:57.46 this tiny creature that must eat every 10 minutes 00:08:57.47\00:09:00.81 it's waking life has the ability because God made it so 00:09:00.82\00:09:05.70 can start flying south at 50 miles an hour 00:09:05.71\00:09:08.48 and can fly for 500 miles 00:09:08.49\00:09:10.82 without touching its tiny feet to any surface. 00:09:10.83\00:09:13.68 Isn't that wonderful? 00:09:13.69\00:09:14.93 God provides for the hummingbirds 00:09:14.94\00:09:17.02 and if He provides for the hummingbirds 00:09:17.03\00:09:19.15 you know that He will provide for us. 00:09:19.16\00:09:21.47 What a wonderful Jesus we serve? 00:21:19.62\00:21:22.32 God will see to it that you are taking care of. 00:21:22.33\00:21:26.63 David looked at me and he said, blessed are you 00:21:26.64\00:21:30.07 for you have kept me this day from shedding blood. 00:21:30.08\00:21:34.09 Then I pointed to all the donkeys laden with food 00:21:34.10\00:21:39.34 and I said, I have brought you a gift to you and your men. 00:21:39.35\00:21:42.29 Please accept this gift. 00:21:42.30\00:21:45.85 The men got big smiles on their faces. 00:21:45.86\00:21:49.70 They were so excited to have all this good food. 00:21:49.71\00:21:53.38 Well, you can imagine, they have been in the wilderness 00:21:53.39\00:21:55.77 eating berries or whatever else they could find 00:21:55.78\00:21:58.27 and they were so happy. 00:21:58.28\00:22:00.35 David looked at me and he said, go in peace. 00:22:00.36\00:22:03.45 I went back with my servants and when I got back, 00:22:03.46\00:22:08.01 Nabal was having a great big party fit for a king 00:22:08.02\00:22:12.12 and he was very, very drunk. 00:22:12.13\00:22:15.16 I knew that made God sad. 00:22:15.17\00:22:17.53 He doesn't want us to drink like that. 00:22:17.54\00:22:19.85 But it was no use trying to talk to him 00:22:19.86\00:22:22.38 because he wouldn't understands in his condition. 00:22:22.39\00:22:25.09 I knew that I would have to wait until morning 00:22:25.10\00:22:27.48 before I could talk to Nabal. 00:22:27.49\00:22:29.52 When morning came and I told Nabal how David 00:22:29.53\00:22:32.00 and his men have been on the way to get even with him 00:22:32.01\00:22:35.78 for what he had done, he was so upset, 00:22:35.79\00:22:38.05 he got very sick and in a few days he died. 00:22:38.06\00:22:42.16 When David heard this, he was so glad that he had 00:22:42.17\00:22:46.47 not taken things in to his own hand and he had let the Lord 00:22:46.48\00:22:49.81 take care of it and he send men to my home. 00:22:49.82\00:22:53.64 The young man said, "David wants to know, 00:22:53.65\00:22:56.70 if you will come and be his wife." 00:22:56.71\00:22:59.75 The first time I was married off, I did not have a choice, 00:22:59.76\00:23:04.66 but this time I did have a choice and I said, 00:23:04.67\00:23:07.68 "Yes, I would love to come and be David's wife." 00:23:07.69\00:23:11.92 And so I tookmy five maidens and I went to live 00:23:11.93\00:23:15.16 with David in the wilderness. 00:23:15.17\00:23:17.04 But now he is King of all Israel and we live 00:23:17.05\00:23:20.81 in the palace and we have much gold and much silver 00:23:20.82\00:23:25.22 but it means nothing to us. 00:23:25.23\00:23:27.48 For God means more to us than all the gold and silver 00:23:27.49\00:23:31.05 in the whole world. 00:23:31.06\00:23:32.93 God loves you and He wants you to love 00:23:32.94\00:23:36.25 Him more than anything else. 00:23:36.26\00:23:38.16 Hi, you know, boys and girls, God used Abigail 00:23:47.12\00:23:49.43 in a special way, didn't He?
