00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:07 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time. 00:25 Umm! That smells so good. 00:29 Hi, boys and girls, oh, I wish you could 00:31 put your nose right into this flower 00:33 and smell its wonderful fragrance. 00:35 You know, it just smells so wonderful. 00:38 When God makes things, 00:39 He makes it perfect every time. 00:42 And look at these beautiful, delicate petals. 00:45 Oh, I love yellow roses, don't you? 00:48 You know, there's wonderful fragrance 00:50 in this bottle of perfume too, isn't that beautiful bottle? 00:53 My friend Wanda loaned it to me 00:55 so I could show it to you today. 00:57 And you could just-- Oh, that smells so good. 01:02 Well, did you know that there are some perfumes 01:04 that are made from flowers? It's true. 01:07 If you ever get the chance to visit a perfume factory, 01:10 you should do it and in some of them 01:12 you'll see large bins of flowers. 01:14 You know, to extract the scent from the flowers, 01:17 the manufacturers, they steam them 01:19 or they use some other process to, 01:20 you know, capture every drop of their sweet smelling oil. 01:25 Then the people who, you know, make the perfumes, 01:28 they blend the oil from the flowers 01:30 with other ingredients and they get 01:32 the most beautiful fragrance and it lasts long, long time. 01:37 You know, perfume-making is an ancient art 01:39 and going back thousands of years, 01:41 people used to think that this is really true, 01:43 people used to think that bad smells cause diseases 01:47 and that's the reason people started to make perfumes 01:50 to cover up the bad odors. 01:52 They thought that, if they did this, 01:54 that the smells would make them stay healthy. 01:57 Well, today we use them just because 01:59 we really enjoy the pleasant aroma. 02:02 And whether in perfume or soaps, or candles, 02:05 you know what, there's even perfume in furniture polish. 02:09 People who make perfume today, 02:10 they have to know a lot about chemicals to combine things 02:13 and in just the right way to produce the lovely fragrance. 02:17 One that will last and last. 02:19 And making perfume from flowers is very expensive. 02:22 And today many perfumes are made 02:24 from other ingredients too. 02:26 But flowers are still used, 02:28 and I think they probably always will be. 02:31 God after all, He created the flowers 02:33 with their wonderful fragrant. 02:35 It's quite a challenge to try to improve 02:37 on the spicy or sweet scents that God created, isn't it? 02:42 You know, today's Bible story will tell you about a woman, 02:44 who bought a very expensive bottle of perfume, 02:48 and what do you suppose she did with it? 02:50 Maybe just dabbed a little behind her ears 02:53 or maybe she saved it for a special holiday, 02:57 or maybe she just sprinkled it all over her clothes 02:59 to make her clothes smell good. 03:01 No, she didn't do any of these things. 03:04 You'll be quite surprised as you listen to this story 03:07 of a woman and a bottle of perfume. 03:09 But first, Ranger Jim is going to tell us about an animal 03:13 that has a special scent all its own, 03:16 you'll see what I mean. 03:25 Hi boys and girls. Ranger Jim here saying, 03:27 "Welcome to Nature Time." 03:28 We're glad you could join us again today. 03:30 I have two new friends for you. 03:32 This is my friend Debbie, 03:33 Debbie Cylke, and her husband Greg 03:35 and they own and operate 03:36 the Ellijay Wildlife Center, here in Ellijay, Georgia. 03:41 And they have a lot of animals. 03:42 They have all kind of things from cougars and bobcats. 03:45 And we have a special friend today. 03:47 Debbie, would you just inform us. 03:48 These boys and girls and Ranger Jim, 03:51 we don't know about skunks, 03:52 we've never even handled a skunk. 03:54 So you make us learn about this skunk, 03:55 if you would, please. 03:57 Here we go, this is Cooter. Cooter is eight years old. 04:01 They normally live 8 to 10 years, 04:03 but the average is 7. 04:06 Cooter, I'm taking a chance with him 04:08 because he is equipped and he can spray up to 12 foot. 04:13 And spraying time is in November. 04:16 November, they spray most of the humans 04:18 80% more humans than any other time. 04:22 And I should know because I get sprayed quite a bit. 04:25 Oh, dear, what do you do? 04:26 Oh, that's the trick. 04:29 It's better to burn your clothes 04:31 and wear a plastic over your hair 04:33 because it does not come out of your hair 04:35 and that's where their aim. 04:37 They aim in your face 04:39 and you've got two seconds to turn around real quick. 04:42 But anyway, Cooter is very old. 04:45 He came to us, we take orphan injured, 04:47 he came to us, his mother was killed 04:49 on the side of the road and he was just a baby 04:52 and he got very, very human imprinted. 04:55 And so we're trying to let him live 04:59 his life out here at the rehab. 05:01 Well, that's what, is-- Now, this creature has 05:03 no other way of defending himself. 05:05 God gave every creature a way of defense 05:07 and this creature doesn't have large teeth 05:09 or fierce claws or great speed or anything else, 05:12 just gave them that identity in an animal, 05:15 only needs to encounter this creature one time 05:17 and never again will they approach one, is that right? 05:19 That's true. If you notice the feet and the claws. 05:24 Now you're dropping on her tail. 05:25 Nothing bad is going to happen? 05:26 Oh, well, it could. Well. 05:29 Anyway, you know, this is feet and the claws. 05:31 They used their claws, they're like bears, 05:34 they're like omnivores, and they used their claws 05:37 for insects, digging grubs, they eat fruits, nuts, 05:41 just about anything that doesn't eat them. 05:43 You mean, they even like grasshoppers and crickets 05:45 and things of that nature and so forth? 05:47 Yes, rats, mice, just anything. 05:50 All right, in the wild now, 05:51 if this, if these creatures mate and the babies are born. 05:53 How many babies would they normally have? 05:55 They can actually have a big litter. 05:57 They can have five to ten, but normally four to five. 06:01 But then you could just pick up a baby skunk 06:03 and it wouldn't spray you, right? 06:04 Right, normally the baby starts 06:06 dripping around six weeks. 06:08 And they just think, this is wonderful, drip, drip, drip, 06:11 you know, and then eventually they begin to spray. 06:13 And so if you see a baby skunk walking along, 06:16 you should walk up first of all and ask it 06:18 how old it is before you pick it up, is that right? 06:20 Well, you could, but you'd be taken an awful big chance. 06:24 You would be doing that. 06:26 We had an experience with these 06:28 in our trailer in Florida. 06:30 My wife always laughs about that 06:31 because I removed the toilet in the trailer 06:34 and put in a new one and I didn't seal it, 06:36 the hole was no larger than that. 06:38 Wow. Now that exposed, when we came back the next year, 06:41 a mother skunk had gotten in there and raised a family 06:43 and we heard a scratching in the floor 06:46 and I got up and turned on the lights. 06:47 Our davenport was too little skunks 06:49 about this tall smiling at me. 06:52 Wow. Now, open the door, one went out 06:53 and one went the other way 06:54 and then we had to close up the hole, 06:56 so they can get in a tiny place, can't they? 06:59 Really, really small. 07:00 I've been told and learned through the experience 07:02 that if they can get their head through an opening. 07:06 This tiny little head. 07:07 Even though their body is big, 07:09 they can actually get their body through the same opening. 07:12 Well, now, why does this skunk have just white hair 07:14 and doesn't have the typical black and white that you see? 07:16 This is a striped skunk, 07:18 it may come in variety of stripes, 07:20 some of them solid quite on top, 07:22 someone, some of them just have a few, 07:25 white, little bit of white like this. 07:26 They also come in spotted skunks 07:28 and they have tendency to have more spots. 07:31 I see, so if you live somewhere, boys and girls, 07:33 where they have skunks with different color, 07:35 they all have the same equipment, okay. 07:38 So you want to be careful around the skunk. 07:40 And if your dog comes home, that's been skunked, 07:42 what's the best thing to do, get rid of him? 07:44 Oh, no, well, they always say tomato juice usually works, 07:49 but, you know, I'm skeptical, it never worked with me. 07:52 And so, just to bath the dog and live with the dog, 07:55 I guess is all you could do. 07:56 So even with a skunk, boys and girls, 07:58 we see how God has provided for him 08:00 and has taken care of him to protect him 08:02 from enemies that he might have. 08:04 We serve a wonderful God. 08:06 Boys and girls, remember what I've been saying. 08:08 Jesus is coming soon and we're going for a nature hike 08:11 through the Universe with Jesus. 08:13 What a grand and marvelous day it's going to be. 08:16 Ranger Jim here saying, don't forget to tell Jesus 08:18 that you love Him because He really does love you. 08:36 Hi, boys and girls. 08:37 When your mom or your dad does something nice for you, 08:40 I know you always say thank you, 08:42 but how often do we say thank you to God. 08:45 Michelle, do you have a text for us? 08:46 "O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good." 08:49 Psalms 107 verse 1. 08:53 Boys and girls, please join us in the song of praise. 09:15 Father I adore you 09:19 Lay my life before you 09:24 How I love you 09:28 Jesus I adore you 09:33 Lay my life before you 09:38 How I love you 09:42 Spirit I adore you 09:47 Lay my life before you 09:52 How I love you 10:05 I just know that God loves to hear to say, 10:08 I love you and thank you. 10:24 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord 10:31 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord 10:38 Hosanna to the son of David, Hosanna in the highest 10:44 Hosanna to the son of David, Hosanna this is Jesus 10:59 Blessed is he, blessed is he, 11:02 who comes in the name of the Lord 11:06 Blessed is he, blessed is he, 11:08 who comes in the name of the Lord 11:12 Hosanna to the son of David, Hosanna in the highest 11:19 Hosanna to the son of David, Hosanna this is Jesus 11:33 Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest 11:40 Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna, this is Jesus. 12:05 Oh, hello. I'm glad you've come. 12:07 My name is Mary Magdalene. 12:08 I've been sitting here watching 12:10 the skies for my best friend, Jesus. 12:12 He said, He would return one day. 12:14 And I've been waiting for a long time now. 12:17 Let me tell you a little bit about myself. 12:19 You know, I guess I was always a girl 12:21 that wanted to liked, no more than that, 12:24 I wanted to be loved. 12:26 And because of that, I made some choices 12:29 that were not the best ones I could have made. 12:32 I choose the wrong kinds of friends 12:33 and did a lot of the wrong kinds of things. 12:37 But it felt good to belong to a group. 12:39 It felt wonderful to feel there were people around me 12:43 who shared what I was doing. 12:45 I thought that was love. 12:47 But I found out very quickly 12:49 that it was not that way at all. 12:52 The day I met my very best friend, Jesus 12:54 was the best day and scariest day, 12:57 probably of my whole life. 12:59 I had been out doing some things with my friends 13:02 and that very day those very friends decided 13:07 that they wanted to use me 13:10 to get at this young teacher, Jesus. 13:16 And what they did. It really broke my heart. 13:22 They decided that they would drag me in front of Him 13:26 and tell all the sins that I had done 13:29 and then try to get Him to tell them to stone me. 13:37 I can't imagine how I can make you feel 13:40 what I felt that day. 13:42 To be friendly and wonderful with somebody one minute 13:44 and then the very next minute have people 13:47 grabbing your arms and dragging you through the dust 13:49 and throwing you at the feet of this person, 13:53 and as they did this to me, 13:56 I was afraid to look up 13:57 because I knew what would happened, 13:59 I knew what would have happen to any other woman 14:02 that had been in this situation. 14:04 They would pick stones up, 14:06 large stones and hurl them at you 14:08 until you were dead from all the blows. 14:12 And as they went to this young teacher 14:15 and asked him to make a decision, 14:18 He was very quiet and very calm, 14:21 and He bent down saying not a word 14:24 and wrote in the dust the things 14:27 that these people had done. 14:29 And then He bent and He wrote in the dust their names 14:33 and one-by-one the people backed away because He said, 14:39 "Whoever of you is without sin, 14:42 let him cast the first stone." 14:44 And they knew, there was not one of them there 14:46 that hadn't done the very same things that I had done. 14:49 I was afraid to look up. 14:52 But eventually I heard stones falling 14:54 to the ground around me and they weren't hitting me, 14:57 they were dropping from the hands of the men 14:59 and those in that group surrounding me. 15:03 And dust started to rise as they shuffled off 15:07 and soon Jesus bent down and brushed my hair 15:10 from my face and touch me on the shoulder 15:12 and He said, "Woman, where are your accusers?" 15:16 And I looked up and no one was there. 15:20 And Jesus said to me, 15:23 "There's no one to condemn you, 15:24 neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more." 15:28 He had forgiven me right there on the spot 15:32 and at that moment I felt more love coming 15:34 into my life than I had ever been able to find 15:36 with all those other friends. 15:38 Jesus and I became very good friends after that. 15:42 He visited our house often had dinner with us, 15:44 told us about His Father's plans for His life 15:48 and soon after that, there was a big feast taking place. 15:53 Well, I knew that my sister Martha 15:55 would be serving at that feast 15:57 and I was going to be there, but I wanted to be 16:00 in my favorite spot listening to Jesus. 16:02 So I stood kind of quietly outside the door 16:05 and He sat between Simon, 16:07 one of the very high officials in the temple, 16:09 who had led me into the sins that I had done, 16:11 and my brother Lazarus, 16:13 whom He had resurrected from the death, 16:15 but that's another story for another day. 16:18 And as I listened to them talk, 16:20 I began to hear words like king of the Jews 16:23 and that He was going to be crowned king of the Jews, 16:26 and my heart just sored for joy 16:29 because not many days before He had told us 16:32 that He was going to be crucified, 16:34 but now He was going to be king instead. 16:37 And I had with me that day a little box, 16:41 not exactly like this one, 16:43 but it was a box full of precious ointment perfume. 16:46 I had gone to the perfume shop to buy it 16:48 and when I came in, they said, 16:50 "Oh, here's old Mary Magdalene." 16:54 What you're gonna spend your money on, Mary? 16:55 And they wanted to sell me something cheap. 16:57 But I knew I was buying this for the king of my heart 17:02 and I wanted the very best they had. 17:05 And they only made a small amount of this. 17:09 In fact, they only made it for kings 17:11 and for royalty and I bought it 17:14 because Jesus was the king in my heart. 17:18 And as I listened to Him talk, 17:20 my heart was so over joyed 17:21 that Jesus was going to be king, 17:23 then I crypt into the room quietly 17:25 because there were people there who still didn't like me, 17:28 and I opened the little box 17:31 and I poured the perfume on to His feet 17:34 and oh, you know, when you're doing 17:36 something good for somebody else, 17:38 you can't help but have some of that in your life as well. 17:42 And as the perfume ran onto His feet, 17:46 and onto the couch where He was onto the floor, 17:49 I realized I don't have a little towel 17:52 to dry this up with and all I could find was my hair 17:56 and I took my hair and I whipped it on His feet 18:00 and in taking some of the perfume off of Him 18:02 and onto me, the beauty of Jesus' spread 18:05 into my life in an even better way. 18:08 There were people who said, 18:09 "This money could have been given to the poor." 18:11 But Jesus didn't care because He knew 18:13 I was giving Him my all and that's what was important. 18:18 It wasn't very long after that that Jesus was crucified 18:23 and I came to the tomb to prepare His body for burial, 18:28 and found that He was gone. 18:31 The stone had been rolled away and there was no one there, 18:33 but a gardener and as I sat by the door crying, 18:36 the gardener asked me, 18:38 "Woman, who are you looking for?" 18:40 And I said, my master Jesus. They've taken Him away. 18:43 Tell Him, tell me where have you laid Him? 18:46 And then I heard the voice that I recognized 18:48 from that day earlier in the street 18:50 when the men had wanted to stone me 18:53 and the same gentle touch and He said, 18:55 "Mary." And only one person 18:58 could say my name that way. 19:00 And I looked it was Jesus. He was alive. 19:05 He told me to go around and tell the disciples 19:08 that He had risen from the grave. 19:10 Oh, and I did. My feet barely touched the ground that day 19:13 and not many days after that, 19:16 the disciples told me that they had watched Him 19:19 ascend to heaven, and that He said, 19:20 "He would come back in just the same way 19:22 that they had seen Him go." 19:25 So you see that's why I sit and look at the sky, 19:30 because I'm waiting for Jesus to come back. 19:32 You know, I don't know if you have a best friend, 19:35 I don't know what your life is like, 19:37 but I know that my friend Jesus will be your friend 19:41 and that He will save you from what ever is in your life. 19:45 If you're afraid or confused or lonely 19:48 or just don't know what life is all about. 19:51 No matter how old or how young you are. 19:53 He wants to be there for you and it's so simple. 19:57 All you have to do right now. 20:00 When you hear me speaking to you, 20:02 open your heart to Jesus and ask Him, 20:05 if He'll come and be your friend, 20:07 tell Him that you want to be with Him 20:10 when He comes back in the skies for us. 20:13 And when that day happens, 20:14 I'll be looking forward to it, 20:16 but I'll be looking forward to having you close-by 20:20 knowing that you know my friend Jesus too. 20:42 Change my heart, oh God Make it ever true 20:53 Change my heart, oh God May I be like You 21:05 Change my heart, oh God Make it ever true 21:16 Change my heart, oh God May I be like You 21:28 You are the potter I am the clay 21:39 Mold me and make me This is what I pray 21:53 Change my heart, oh God Make it ever true 22:04 Change my heart, oh God May I be like You 22:13 May I be like You May I be like You 22:18 May I be like You May I be like You 22:44 Well, thank you very much for that song. 22:46 I want to thank our Marion, Illinois Church choir. 22:48 That was beautiful. Welcome to Sharing Time. 22:51 I'm sitting here with my friend Jimmy. 22:53 We've been reading here Kids Time letters 22:55 that you've been coming in and we love hearing from you. 22:57 Have been, we've been having a good time, 22:58 haven't we, Jimmy? 22:59 And Jimmy is here today, 23:01 I asked him to tell you something 23:03 he's done to share Jesus. Can you do that Jimmy? 23:05 What's something you've done to share Jesus? 23:07 One time, I was playing soccer and there's boy he felt down 23:11 and then I turned back around 23:14 and then I said, "Are you okay?" 23:17 Now did you know this boy? No, I didn't. 23:20 You didn't know him, you just stopped to help him 23:21 because you know it was the right thing to do, didn't you? 23:24 Well, you know, when we're kind to others, 23:26 boys and girls, that shows that we do share Jesus, 23:28 that shows we have Jesus in our heart. 23:30 So I'm sure Jesus was very happy and proud of you. 23:34 Well, I want to share this letter 23:36 that I got today from Kelly. 23:37 Can you open, Kelly send us a picture. 23:40 Can you show to boys and girls Kelly's picture for me? 23:43 It says, "Dear Brenda, I help my mom and dad 23:45 by cleaning the kitchen and cleaning the shop." 23:50 And then she said, "Here's a poem." 23:52 She says, "Flowers bloom, 23:53 cold flowers close and you are a rose." 23:56 It says, "mom is at work and dad is at work, 23:58 so Kids Time is it." 24:00 Well, she shares Jesus, she says, by helping others 24:03 and she also send, drew a-- 24:04 She colored me a pretty picture, isn't that pretty? 24:07 I love that. Let's see, would you have 24:09 a letter over there for me? 24:11 I'll take that for you, Jimmy, we put that over here. 24:15 Well, Jimmy has opened another one over there. 24:17 I'll open this one. 24:19 Oh, this one is from someone named, Joshua. 24:22 This says, "Dear Brenda, I'm seven years old, 24:25 I live on the island 24:26 at Roatan, Honduras, Central America. 24:28 And I share Jesus by giving out Bible stories. 24:31 I also like to invite people home for dinner 24:33 and tell them about Jesus. 24:35 I love Jesus very much. Love, Joshua. 24:38 All the way from Honduras. 24:40 Thank you, Joshua, I'm glad that you're enjoying Kids Time 24:43 and I'm glad you're sharing Jesus, 24:45 that's the most important thing, isn't it, Jimmy? 24:47 And look at this pretty picture that Joshua drew, 24:51 isn't that nice? I really like that picture. 24:54 And you've got a letter over there, 24:55 what is that-- Let me see what that letter says. 24:59 This says, "Dear Brenda, my name is Katie 25:01 and I go to school and it is fun. 25:03 I believe in God and I go to Church and I love Kids Time. 25:07 Love, Katie." Thank you so much, Katie. 25:09 You know, once you write to me next-- 25:11 Oh! Katie send a picture. 25:13 Boys and girls, I'm getting a lot of these pictures 25:15 that are Xeroxed pictures and they show well on camera. 25:19 So we can't show them. 25:20 So when you send your cards and letters, 25:22 be sure and send a picture and that's a real picture, okay. 25:25 And then I can show your picture on the camera. 25:28 Let's see, do you have another letter over there? 25:30 Yeah. Well, I'm waiting for Jimmy to open that one. 25:32 Let's see if we have time for this one right over here. 25:36 And this one says, "Dear Brenda, 25:38 when my mom is sick, I help her clean the house 25:41 and I help her feed Buddy the cat. 25:43 Love, Carisa."
