I'm glad you've come. 00:12:05.07\00:12:07.06 My name is Mary Magdalene. 00:12:07.07\00:12:08.94 I've been sitting here watching 00:12:08.95\00:12:10.05 the skies for my best friend, Jesus. 00:12:10.06\00:12:12.34 He said, He would return one day. 00:12:12.35\00:12:13.98 And I've been waiting for a long time now. 00:12:13.99\00:12:17.37 Let me tell you a little bit about myself. 00:12:17.38\00:12:19.75 You know, I guess I was always a girl 00:12:19.76\00:12:21.70 that wanted to liked, no more than that, 00:12:21.71\00:12:24.43 I wanted to be loved. 00:12:24.44\00:12:26.37 And because of that, I made some choices 00:12:26.38\00:12:29.23 that were not the best ones I could have made. 00:12:29.24\00:12:32.22 I choose the wrong kinds of friends 00:12:32.23\00:12:33.90 and did a lot of the wrong kinds of things. 00:12:33.91\00:12:37.33 But it felt good to belong to a group. 00:12:37.34\00:12:39.84 It felt wonderful to feel there were people around me 00:12:39.85\00:12:43.05 who shared what I was doing. 00:12:43.06\00:12:45.18 I thought that was love. 00:12:45.19\00:12:47.74 But I found out very quickly 00:12:47.75\00:12:49.48 that it was not that way at all. 00:12:49.49\00:12:52.38 The day I met my very best friend, Jesus 00:12:52.39\00:12:54.82 was the best day and scariest day, 00:12:54.83\00:12:56.98 probably of my whole life. 00:12:56.99\00:12:59.45 I had been out doing some things with my friends 00:12:59.46\00:13:02.46 and that very day those very friends decided 00:13:02.47\00:13:07.85 that they wanted to use me 00:13:07.86\00:13:10.52 to get at this young teacher, Jesus. 00:13:10.53\00:13:16.68 And what they did. It really broke my heart. 00:13:16.69\00:13:22.65 They decided that they would drag me in front of Him 00:13:22.66\00:13:26.81 and tell all the sins that I had done 00:13:26.82\00:13:29.68 and then try to get Him to tell them to stone me. 00:13:29.69\00:13:34.24 I can't imagine how I can make you feel 00:13:37.53\00:13:40.71 what I felt that day. 00:13:40.72\00:13:42.61 To be friendly and wonderful with somebody one minute 00:13:42.62\00:13:44.87 and then the very next minute have people 00:13:44.88\00:13:47.43 grabbing your arms and dragging you through the dust 00:13:47.44\00:13:49.86 and throwing you at the feet of this person, 00:13:49.87\00:13:53.83 and as they did this to me, 00:13:53.84\00:13:56.67 I was afraid to look up 00:13:56.68\00:13:57.85 because I knew what would happened, 00:13:57.86\00:13:59.86 I knew what would have happen to any other woman 00:13:59.87\00:14:02.03 that had been in this situation. 00:14:02.04\00:14:04.64 They would pick stones up, 00:14:04.65\00:14:06.14 large stones and hurl them at you 00:14:06.15\00:14:08.35 until you were dead from all the blows. 00:14:08.36\00:14:12.60 And as they went to this young teacher 00:14:12.61\00:14:15.34 and asked him to make a decision, 00:14:15.35\00:14:18.84 He was very quiet and very calm, 00:14:18.85\00:14:21.14 and He bent down saying not a word 00:14:21.15\00:14:24.09 and wrote in the dust the things 00:14:24.10\00:14:27.28 that these people had done. 00:14:27.29\00:14:29.28 And then He bent and He wrote in the dust their names 00:14:29.29\00:14:33.39 and one-by-one the people backed away because He said, 00:14:33.40\00:14:39.12 "Whoever of you is without sin, 00:14:39.13\00:14:42.04 let him cast the first stone." 00:14:42.05\00:14:44.33 And they knew, there was not one of them there 00:14:44.34\00:14:46.39 that hadn't done the very same things that I had done. 00:14:46.40\00:14:49.81 I was afraid to look up. 00:14:49.82\00:14:52.73 But eventually I heard stones falling 00:14:52.74\00:14:54.84 to the ground around me and they weren't hitting me, 00:14:54.85\00:14:57.82 they were dropping from the hands of the men 00:14:57.83\00:14:59.83 and those in that group surrounding me. 00:14:59.84\00:15:03.74 And dust started to rise as they shuffled off 00:15:03.75\00:15:07.93 and soon Jesus bent down and brushed my hair 00:15:07.94\00:15:10.74 from my face and touch me on the shoulder 00:15:10.75\00:15:12.53 and He said, "Woman, where are your accusers?" 00:15:12.54\00:15:16.57 And I looked up and no one was there. 00:15:16.58\00:15:20.65 And Jesus said to me, 00:15:20.66\00:15:23.07 "There's no one to condemn you, 00:15:23.08\00:15:24.53 neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more." 00:15:24.54\00:15:28.04 He had forgiven me right there on the spot 00:15:28.05\00:15:32.01 and at that moment I felt more love coming 00:15:32.02\00:15:34.37 into my life than I had ever been able to find 00:15:34.38\00:15:36.47 with all those other friends. 00:15:36.48\00:15:38.33 Jesus and I became very good friends after that. 00:15:38.34\00:15:42.06 He visited our house often had dinner with us, 00:15:42.07\00:15:44.71 told us about His Father's plans for His life 00:15:44.72\00:15:48.11 and soon after that, there was a big feast taking place. 00:15:48.12\00:15:53.10 Well, I knew that my sister Martha 00:15:53.11\00:15:55.52 would be serving at that feast 00:15:55.53\00:15:57.63 and I was going to be there, but I wanted to be 00:15:57.64\00:16:00.11 in my favorite spot listening to Jesus. 00:16:00.12\00:16:02.47 So I stood kind of quietly outside the door 00:16:02.48\00:16:05.50 and He sat between Simon, 00:16:05.51\00:16:07.08 one of the very high officials in the temple, 00:16:07.09\00:16:09.21 who had led me into the sins that I had done, 00:16:09.22\00:16:11.52 and my brother Lazarus, 00:16:11.53\00:16:13.34 whom He had resurrected from the death, 00:16:13.35\00:16:15.91 but that's another story for another day. 00:16:15.92\00:16:18.18 And as I listened to them talk, 00:16:18.19\00:16:20.91 I began to hear words like king of the Jews 00:16:20.92\00:16:23.81 and that He was going to be crowned king of the Jews, 00:16:23.82\00:16:26.62 and my heart just sored for joy 00:16:26.63\00:16:29.56 because not many days before He had told us 00:16:29.57\00:16:32.20 that He was going to be crucified, 00:16:32.21\00:16:34.31 but now He was going to be king instead. 00:16:34.32\00:16:37.82 And I had with me that day a little box, 00:16:37.83\00:16:41.09 not exactly like this one, 00:16:41.10\00:16:43.28 but it was a box full of precious ointment perfume. 00:16:43.29\00:16:46.58 I had gone to the perfume shop to buy it 00:16:46.59\00:16:48.67 and when I came in, they said, 00:16:48.68\00:16:50.90 "Oh, here's old Mary Magdalene." 00:16:50.91\00:16:54.00 What you're gonna spend your money on, Mary? 00:16:54.01\00:16:55.87 And they wanted to sell me something cheap. 00:16:55.88\00:16:57.90 But I knew I was buying this for the king of my heart 00:16:57.91\00:17:02.23 and I wanted the very best they had. 00:17:02.24\00:17:05.40 And they only made a small amount of this. 00:17:05.41\00:17:09.38 In fact, they only made it for kings 00:17:09.39\00:17:11.93 and for royalty and I bought it 00:17:11.94\00:17:14.70 because Jesus was the king in my heart. 00:17:14.71\00:17:18.23 And as I listened to Him talk, 00:17:18.24\00:17:20.02 my heart was so over joyed 00:17:20.03\00:17:21.78 that Jesus was going to be king, 00:17:21.79\00:17:23.79 then I crypt into the room quietly 00:17:23.80\00:17:25.63 because there were people there who still didn't like me, 00:17:25.64\00:17:28.69 and I opened the little box 00:17:28.70\00:17:31.60 and I poured the perfume on to His feet 00:17:31.61\00:17:34.58 and oh, you know, when you're doing 00:17:34.59\00:17:36.72 something good for somebody else, 00:17:36.73\00:17:38.59 you can't help but have some of that in your life as well. 00:17:38.60\00:17:42.95 And as the perfume ran onto His feet, 00:17:42.96\00:17:46.02 and onto the couch where He was onto the floor, 00:17:46.03\00:17:49.37 I realized I don't have a little towel 00:17:49.38\00:17:52.94 to dry this up with and all I could find was my hair 00:17:52.95\00:17:56.75 and I took my hair and I whipped it on His feet 00:17:56.76\00:18:00.12 and in taking some of the perfume off of Him 00:18:00.13\00:18:02.46 and onto me, the beauty of Jesus' spread 00:18:02.47\00:18:05.14 into my life in an even better way. 00:18:05.15\00:18:08.26 There were people who said, 00:18:08.27\00:18:09.48 "This money could have been given to the poor." 00:18:09.49\00:18:11.60 But Jesus didn't care because He knew 00:18:11.61\00:18:13.93 I was giving Him my all and that's what was important. 00:18:13.94\00:18:18.42 It wasn't very long after that that Jesus was crucified 00:18:18.43\00:18:23.15 and I came to the tomb to prepare His body for burial, 00:18:23.16\00:18:28.76 and found that He was gone. 00:18:28.77\00:18:31.42 The stone had been rolled away and there was no one there, 00:18:31.43\00:18:33.91 but a gardener and as I sat by the door crying, 00:18:33.92\00:18:36.83 the gardener asked me, 00:18:36.84\00:18:38.38 "Woman, who are you looking for?" 00:18:38.39\00:18:40.50 And I said, my master Jesus. They've taken Him away. 00:18:40.51\00:18:43.18 Tell Him, tell me where have you laid Him? 00:18:43.19\00:18:46.50 And then I heard the voice that I recognized 00:18:46.51\00:18:48.53 from that day earlier in the street 00:18:48.54\00:18:50.31 when the men had wanted to stone me 00:18:50.32\00:18:53.03 and the same gentle touch and He said, 00:18:53.04\00:18:55.45 "Mary." And only one person 00:18:55.46\00:18:57.98 could say my name that way. 00:18:57.99\00:19:00.00 And I looked it was Jesus. He was alive. 00:19:00.01\00:19:05.13 He told me to go around and tell the disciples 00:19:05.14\00:19:07.99 that He had risen from the grave. 00:19:08.00\00:19:10.00 Oh, and I did.
