00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:07 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, 00:24 Kids Time, Kids Time 00:26 Hi, boys and girls. 00:27 Do you recognize me with this mask on? 00:29 I look different, don't I? 00:31 Okay, I will take it off. 00:34 Usually when people wear mask, 00:36 is because they don't want to be recognized. 00:38 They may wear mask for party 00:40 where everyone has to guess everyone else's identity. 00:42 But the truth is that many of us wear mask most of the time. 00:46 I don't mean the kind of mask that you buy in a store 00:49 like this one and wear on your face. 00:52 The kind of mask many of us wear a mask for pretending, 00:55 pretending to be someone other than who we really are. 00:58 People often think that if others knew who they were 01:01 really deep inside that no one would like them or respect them. 01:05 In a book called "Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories" 01:08 the author, Arthur Maxwell, 01:10 tells the story of a little girl named, Caroline, 01:12 who wore just that kind of mask. 01:15 In front of her teacher, she pretended to be 01:16 somebody helpful and happy and pleasant. 01:19 But at home, she let her true self be seen 01:22 and she was a very different person. 01:23 She was grumpy, and rude, and lazy. 01:26 One day, her mother decided that, 01:27 Caroline, needed to learn an important lesson 01:30 and without telling her, 01:31 mother invited the teacher home for supper. 01:34 When asked to set the table, Caroline whined, 01:36 why do I always have to set the table, 01:39 why can't you do it? 01:41 And she just complained about anything mother would ask her. 01:44 Then mother told her to call her guest 01:47 then from the living room, who had been there all along. 01:50 When, Caroline, looked into the living room 01:51 and found her teacher there, she burst into tears. 01:55 The teacher was so disappointed 01:57 that her sweet, Caroline, wasn't always so sweet. 02:01 And, Caroline, learned a lesson that day, 02:03 she decided to let her inside and her outside match. 02:07 Only she would ask, Jesus, to help her change the inside, 02:10 so that, that smiling, helpful, Caroline, 02:13 would really be the real little girl. 02:16 Today you are going to learn about an animal 02:18 who wears the mask. 02:20 This animal isn't trying to hide anything. 02:22 You will learn more about it from Ranger Jim. 02:30 Hi, boys and girls. 02:31 We have Loonie Kuhn. 02:34 Who is this guy with a mask? What do we call this? 02:37 This is a raccoon. And are they very common? 02:41 They are extremely common across the United States. 02:44 More so now than they've ever have been in history, 02:48 they have learned to adapt in the urban environment 02:51 as much as they are in the wooden environment these days. 02:54 I see and this is a very young coon. 02:56 Is this yours coon? 02:57 This was one that came in as an orphan 02:59 and we had been raising it to be released back into the wild. 03:02 He is just starting to realize, he is a raccoon at this age. 03:08 And so many people find that up until this stage, 03:10 they make a lovely pet, 03:11 but after that they are not so nicer pet, that's right. 03:14 They think that they are going to be just 03:16 a glorified dog or cat, but they are not. 03:18 They are their own special animal 03:20 and they do what raccoons do. 03:22 They want to climb and they want to chew and bite, 03:24 and that's just what raccoons do in the wild. 03:27 They are very curious and they're into everything. 03:30 Absolutely, they have these incredible paws 03:34 that are almost like hands. 03:36 They actually have five fingers. 03:38 They work just like fingers 03:40 that tends to be part of their undoing. 03:42 They are so good with those little fingers, 03:44 they get themselves into a lot of trouble. 03:46 They can open doors, open jars, open packages, 03:50 so if they get into your house, they can do some damage. 03:53 I was observing a mother with four or five kittens 03:55 where they're about three months ago 03:57 and that was amusing to watch her come on. 03:59 Every time she turned over rock, 04:00 everyone of the babies came behind her, 04:02 where they will turn over the rock too, 04:03 feeling with those little hands on. 04:04 Just feel with those little hands. 04:05 They say that most of the raccoon hunting 04:10 is done with the feet, because when they are 04:13 hunting at night in the dark, in the stream, 04:14 they're feeling, not looking, not seeing, 04:18 or hearing as much as feeling. 04:19 Right in this, the group that I was watching 04:21 the last fellow in line came along 04:23 and he was feeling and he stuck his hand under a broth 04:25 and got a hold of a crayfish, 04:27 but he grabbed him and you should have seen him 04:29 dancing and shaking his foot. 04:30 I'm sure, I'm sure. 04:32 Okay, and once again, you find these 04:35 creatures living almost anywhere 04:37 even in neighborhoods within the city limits, 04:38 is that true? That's right. 04:40 Frequently in the wild, they would be living 04:42 in a hollow log, but in the city, 04:46 of course, a chimney resembles a hollow log, 04:49 so they again will sometimes take up residence in homes, 04:54 but they can be found in sometimes a sewer, 04:56 drainage ditches, many places 05:00 that we wouldn't even think of, they are in the city. 05:02 And he loves this much like your dog. 05:04 He loves this if you scratch his ears. 05:06 While ago, he was cheering for us and making 05:08 that peculiar sound that they have sort of a purring sound, 05:11 but he doesn't want to do it for us now. 05:13 And the mother, how many kittens 05:14 does she have normally? 05:16 It depends on the age of the mother, 05:18 if it's a first litter or not. 05:20 But they can have up to five young at a time. 05:23 I see and then they stay with their parents 05:24 and learn to hunt and forage. 05:27 She teaches them all the necessary skills 05:31 to survive in the world. 05:33 Well, tell me this, do the-- in the northern climates, 05:35 do the raccoons hibernate? 05:37 They will frequently den up. 05:40 It's not a true hibernation 05:42 like some of the other animals, but they will den up 05:44 for periods of time and live off with their fat. 05:46 I see, so they just sit in a nice big hollow log 05:49 and they go to sleep through the bed two or three weeks 05:52 and then have a nice mild spell 05:54 when they come out and hunt as do the other creatures. 05:58 That's right. Okay, tell me this, 06:00 do we-- is this the only raccoon 06:02 that we have in the United States? 06:03 Is this the only raccoon we have? 06:04 This is the only one that we have similar to this, yes. 06:08 I see, and how big will the raccoon grow? 06:11 Well, they have had recorded that raccoons be pretty large. 06:15 Generally you will find them anywhere from 15 pounds, 06:20 15 to 20 pounds in the northern climates. 06:25 The southern climates usually the raccoons are little smaller. 06:28 I see, and is the female 06:30 smaller than the male or it's a vice versa? 06:32 Usually the male with mammals, the male is bigger, 06:34 and with raccoons that almost true. 06:36 I see, now this creature is omnivores, 06:39 is that correct, I mean, they eat many 06:41 different things like fruit and berries? 06:42 They like fruit and berries, but they are meat eaters. 06:45 They eat crawdads and worms and minnows. 06:47 I see, so we could say that this creature 06:51 can make a living almost anywhere. 06:52 Just about, just about anywhere, 06:55 he can find something to live, 06:57 somewhere to actually sleep, 06:58 and somewhere to find food. 07:00 And so for any boy and girl 07:02 that they rather think that a raccoon 07:03 would make a wonderful pet, 07:05 would you encourage that or would you discourage that? 07:07 Oh, absolutely not, What happens is they become, 07:10 you can tame them to some extent, 07:12 but then as they start developing normal raccoon traits 07:15 people don't want them anymore, 07:17 and then unfortunately that animal 07:19 will not have a good chance in the wild. 07:22 And so then they bring it to our friend Beverly 07:23 to care for and to feed and to take care also. 07:27 So we find once again, boys and girls, 07:29 with the raccoon as with all the other creatures that God made. 07:32 He gave them special equipment, 07:34 He gave them special care to survive in the wild, 07:37 and to go about having a happy life, 07:41 raising families and so they're once again 07:43 our wonderful Creator God, 07:45 with His love and with His creative ability 07:47 has given us another creature to see 07:49 and enjoy and learn about. 07:51 And as always, Ranger Jim, reminding you, 07:54 don't forget to tell, Jesus, 07:56 that you love Him, because He really does love you. 08:07 Hello, boys and girls. 08:08 When momma or daddy, do something nice for you, 08:10 they love to hear the words "Thank you." 08:13 But do you think God wants to hear us say "Thank you?" 08:16 Rachel what the Psalms 107 verse 1 say? 08:19 "O gives thanks unto the Lord, for He is good." 08:23 So He does want us to say "Thank you," 08:25 please join us in this song of "Thank You and Praise to God." 08:39 God is so good God is so good 08:49 God is so good He's so good to me 08:59 He is coming back He is coming back 09:10 He is coming back He's so good to me 09:20 I love Him so I love Him so 09:30 I love Him so He's so good to me 09:40 God is so good God is so good 09:51 God is so good He's so good to me 10:00 He's so good to me 10:14 Boys and girls, next time you talk to God, make sure 10:17 you tell Him, how much you love Him and appreciate Him. 10:27 Hello there, I'm in a rush right now. 10:30 I've got to show myself to the priest, 10:32 but let me just take a moment to tell you 10:34 about an exciting thing that just happened to me. 10:38 Well, I got to back up a little bit. 10:39 As you can tell, I'm a foreigner in this country, 10:42 my family and I came and we setup a little shop 10:44 in our neighborhood and we were doing quite well. 10:47 And the Lord prospered, we had everything 10:50 that we needed for the family. 10:51 But one day, I started noticing 10:54 some splotches on my hand 10:57 and my fingers started feeling numb. 10:59 I went to the doctor and the doctor gave me 11:01 the most dreadful news, he said, you have leprosy. 11:06 I had leprosy, I was a leper. 11:09 I couldn't believe that. 11:10 I couldn't believe that I was a leper 11:13 and, you know, leprosy is contagious. 11:15 I had to move away from my family, 11:17 because I didn't want to give this to my family. 11:20 I had to close my shop. I didn't have anything to do. 11:23 I had to go off by myself. 11:25 It was such a horrible experience having this leprosy, 11:28 and sure enough, after a while, 11:30 my fingers started to be eaten up 11:32 and my toes and my nose, pretty soon it was gone, 11:36 and I was pasty and it was just terrible 11:39 and I started to smell bad and I just couldn't believe 11:42 why this was happening to me. 11:43 And a lot of people said that it was because 11:46 I had a lot of sin in my life. 11:49 But you know, I don't know that 11:52 I couldn't think of anything that I had done wrong. 11:55 Why was God punishing me? What did I do? 11:58 They said that this leprosy was a result of my sinful lifestyle. 12:02 Well, I was off wandering and I had to tell people 12:05 that I was unkind, every time I saw a group over there, 12:09 a group mingling and if I were coming 12:11 in their direction I had to warn them, 12:14 and I would say "unclean, unclean" 12:16 and you should have seen them scattered. 12:18 They would spread as if I had thrown a bomb 12:21 in their midst or something. 12:23 Well, it was pretty lonely out there 12:25 and the thing that I hated 12:27 that most was how my friends reacted. 12:31 You see these were the people that I hung around with. 12:33 These were the people that I thought were my friends. 12:36 And I would go up to them and I recognize them 12:38 and I still have to tell them, I'd say "unclean, unclean" 12:42 and they looked at me and they turned around 12:44 as if they didn't know who I was, 12:45 as if I was some kind of alien or something. 12:48 I couldn't bear that, but here is the good part. 12:52 You see, I hung around some people, 12:54 who didn't mind me being around them 12:56 because they had leprosy too, 12:58 and I couldn't give it to them, 12:59 because they already had it. 13:00 Well, we heard that, Jesus, 13:01 was going to be in town 13:03 that He had been coming around the hillside 13:05 healing people one after the other, 13:06 after the other, making blind eyes see, 13:09 making lame people walk again. 13:11 Could you imagine that? 13:12 We thought we maybe just maybe, 13:15 He could heal us. 13:17 And I convinced my friends, there were nine of them, 13:20 and I said come on guys, you have nothing to lose, 13:22 they didn't really believe in this, Jesus. 13:24 But I convinced them, and we all went to find, 13:26 Jesus, and sure enough, we saw them in a mountainside, 13:30 a big group of people and we knew, 13:31 Jesus, was there and so we ran up to them 13:34 saying "unclean, unclean" but we kept on running 13:37 right up to them and the crowd split up, 13:39 Jesus stood still. 13:41 We were able to run right up to, Jesus, 13:44 and you know, Jesus, never ran. 13:49 That was the exciting thing Jesus, 13:50 didn't turn His back on us. 13:51 He didn't run away, He accepted us. 13:55 He was there and we were face to face with this, 13:57 Jesus and we bowed down to Him 14:01 and we said "Jesus, Jesus, please 14:04 if it be anything in your will to make us 14:07 whole again please, please heal us 14:09 of this dreadful disease, this leprosy." 14:12 And you know what, Jesus, said, 14:14 He said, "Go and show yourself to the priest." 14:18 Well, that meant that we were to give Him 14:21 the final authority, the final word, 14:23 if the priest were to say yes, you are whole again, 14:26 we get to go home and live our life again. 14:29 But we weren't whole again, we still had this leprosy. 14:33 My fingers were still gone, I was still pale. 14:37 How can we go show our priest 14:38 to ourselves to the priest like this? 14:41 And I say, hey, guys come here, 14:43 maybe Jesus, is transferring His power to this priest. 14:47 Maybe when we get there, 14:49 He will do something for us, let's go. 14:52 So we started going to the priest. 14:54 And we started running and do you know, 14:56 as we are running, we started noticing 14:58 that our fingers were back. 14:59 I said, look I have fingers 15:01 and my skin was, there's good color again. 15:04 I was made whole again, I look perfect. 15:07 Everything was nice and I stopped 15:09 and I said I've got to thank this God 15:12 before He moves off too far, 15:13 so I stopped in my tracks and I went back to find, Jesus. 15:18 And when I found Jesus, I went up to Him, 15:21 I didn't have to say unclean anymore, 15:22 because I was clean now. 15:24 I went up to Him, I said, "Jesus, do you remember me? 15:26 I was just here, you healed me, 15:28 look at me, look at my fingers, 15:30 this is wonderful, thank you." 15:32 And I fell down on His feet and I praised Him, 15:34 and I thanked Him, thank you, 15:36 thank you so much for giving me my life again, 15:38 for giving me another chance, for making me whole. 15:42 Thank you, thank you so very much. 15:46 And I got up and Jesus said, "Wait a minute, 15:51 weren't there ten of you? 15:52 Weren't there ten of you here that I healed? 15:56 Where are the other nine? 16:00 And you know that made feel really good 16:02 that I was raised by mother who gave me some good manners, 16:07 that she told me to always say thank you, 16:09 it made me feel good that I came back 16:11 and I thanked, Jesus, 16:13 because it made Him feel good that I came back. 16:18 And if, Jesus, felt good 16:19 then my whole family is going to feel good, 16:21 if I tell them thank you. 16:22 I'll tell my wife thank you, 16:23 whenever she makes me my nice meal. 16:25 Oh, that home cooked meal sounds good right now. 16:28 I'm sorry, I have to go, 16:29 I've got to show myself to the priest, 16:30 I've got a new life to live, my family is waiting for me. 16:42 [music] 19:43 I'm so glad that one leper came back 19:45 to thank, Jesus, aren't you? 19:47 I know it made Him very happy. 19:49 I want to tell you a story today about a man 19:51 who received a very unusual clock for his birthday. 19:55 It sat on his mantle and for many years, 19:57 it told the correct time and he really like this clock 20:00 and he depended on it too to wake him up, 20:02 so that he would get to his appointments on time. 20:05 The clock was very important, but one day however 20:09 the clock stopped and the hands didn't moved 20:11 and not even a little bit. 20:13 The man stared at the clock and he said, 20:15 "Why didn't the hands go around anymore? 20:18 You know, he decided that something was wrong 20:19 with the hands on his clock, so do you know what he did? 20:23 He carefully removed with just a tiny screwdriver, 20:26 took off the hands of the clock, 20:27 and then he wrapped them up and put them in a paper bag 20:30 and he drove all the way down to the repair shop. 20:33 Now he handed the bag to the repair person and he said, 20:36 "You know what? The hands on my clock so I am here in, 20:38 something is wrong with them." 20:40 And I don't think they move anymore and you know, 20:42 could you fix them for me? 20:45 Now the clock repair person just stared at the man, 20:48 he couldn't believe it. 20:49 He said, "You brought me just the hands." 20:52 Well, my good man, he said, 20:54 "You are gonna have to bring me the rest of the clock 20:56 if you want me to fix this." 20:59 But the rest of the clock is alright, 21:00 the man insisted, 21:01 it's just the hands that need fixing. 21:04 With a patient sigh, the repair person, 21:07 you know, told him that, you know, 21:08 it was the inside of the clock, 21:10 what just about made the hands go around 21:12 and that it was the inside of the clock 21:14 that needed fixing, not the hands. 21:17 The man agreed to bring in the rest of the clock 21:20 and when he did that the clock repair person 21:22 discovered that the mainspring 21:23 of the clock was broken, that's the part inside. 21:28 He put in a new mainspring and then the clock 21:30 just worked perfectly and the hands 21:33 went around again just as they were supposed to do 21:36 and it again told the correct time. 21:38 Well, this made the man very happy and he went home. 21:42 That story makes me think of how we are sometimes. 21:45 You know, maybe something isn't just the way it should be. 21:49 Perhaps we've a temper that gets out of control, 21:52 or we can be a little selfish sometimes, 21:54 you know, we don't want to share with others, 21:57 or maybe we just have trouble 21:58 cooperating with our teachers, with our parents. 22:00 Maybe our parents want us to do something that, 22:02 you know, we don't really want to do. 22:04 Maybe it's taking out the trash or doing the dishes, 22:08 but then we try to fix it, don't we? 22:10 We try to keep those angry words 22:12 from just coming right out to our lips. 22:15 We try to share even when we don't want to, 22:18 and we kind of force ourselves to obey our parents 22:21 when we'd rather do things our own way. 22:23 You know, it's a good thing to try, 22:25 isn't it boys and girls? 22:26 But the real problem is just like that man's broken clock. 22:30 We need to have a new in sign instead of a new mainspring, 22:34 we need a new heart, and a new way of thinking. 22:37 We can ask, Jesus, to fix us to change us 22:40 and to put the mind of Jesus right inside of us, 22:43 so that we won't have to think in the wrong ways, wont we? 22:47 You know, Jesus didn't loose His temper, did He? 22:49 And He was the most unselfish person who ever lived. 22:54 You know, He respected authority too, 22:57 and Jesus wants us to obey our moms and dads and He wants us 23:01 to respect our teachers and our grownups, doesn't He? 23:04 You know, if we have Jesus living in us, 23:07 we'll find Him easier to be like Him, 23:10 and I want to be like Jesus, don't you? 23:13 You know, why not when you say your prayers today? 23:15 Why don't you say to, Jesus, to please fix your bad habits, 23:20 to make you a new person inside? 23:22 Don't just fix my hands, but fix the mainspring, 23:27 wouldn't that be wonderful? 23:28 Because we want Jesus to make us a new person for Him, 23:32 so that we can go to heaven with Him someday, don't we? 23:36 Well, right now, boys and girls, 23:37 do you know what time it is? 23:38 It's mailbox time. 23:40 Let's see, if we have some letters, okay. 23:43 Let's go right over here to the mailbox, 23:44 and do you think we have some? 23:47 And we do. Oh, yes, we do. 23:50 We have quite a few letters today. 23:53 Let's see who we have--letters from, right? 23:56 Oh, you know what? 23:57 I have a letter from Eva, 24:00 and I've got one from George, and Karla, and Casty. 24:06 I've got quite a few letters today. 24:09 Let's see what Eva has to say. 24:12 It's a nice big envelope, 24:13 she remembered to put the stamp on it too. 24:15 We need a stamp to mail letters, don't we, boys and girls? 24:18 Right here, oh you know what? Eva sent us a picture too. 24:25 And here is a picture of Eva.
