00:03 It's time to share there's a world out there
00:07 Looking for a friend like Jesus 00:10 It's time to share there's a world out there 00:13 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:16 Let's tell them that He loves us so 00:20 Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time, Kids Time 00:26 Hi boys and girls, did you ever wonder 00:28 what people used to wrap sandwiches 00:29 in before plastic was invented? 00:32 Suppose there were no plastic wrap, 00:34 no sandwich bags and no wax paper. 00:37 What would you wrap your food in? 00:38 And how would you carry your lunch with you, 00:40 or keep your food from getting dried out 00:42 when you put it away? 00:43 My sandwich wouldn't taste very fresh, 00:46 would it, if I just left it out like this. 00:48 I think I will put it inside a plastic bag right here 00:51 and seal it up tight. 00:54 Today, we are going to hear a Bible story 00:56 about a little boy who carried 00:57 his lunch with him 00:59 and he didn't have a shiny lunch box. 01:01 He probably carried his lunch in a basket. 01:04 A basket his mother would have made 01:05 from weaving weeds together, 01:07 and the food inside the basket, 01:09 what do you suppose it 01:10 that would have been wrapped in. 01:12 Well, most likely it would have been wrapped in cloth, 01:15 cloth that was spun from wool. 01:17 In some countries, people use large leaves 01:19 to wrap food in. 01:20 Hugely it's like those from a banana plant 01:23 would wrap a mighty big sandwich. 01:25 I am glad we have plastic today, 01:27 but I have been thinking about all the coverings 01:29 that God made for food. 01:31 Can you think of some? 01:33 Nuts are encased in a hard shell 01:35 and oranges have a thick skin 01:36 that keeps them clean and juicy. 01:39 Bananas have that sleek smooth skin 01:41 that protects the banana, yet is easily removed, 01:44 so that people and animals can eat this yummy 01:46 and nutritious fruit. 01:48 Umm! Tastes so good. 01:50 Then I thought about us? 01:52 God made us with coverings too. 01:54 He made our skin, and how wise God was 01:57 when He created us? 01:58 He made our skin with tiny pores 02:00 in it to help you breathe. 02:02 And it also allows us to perspire 02:03 when we are too hot. 02:05 That cools us often helps us 02:07 to get rid of impurities in our bodies, 02:09 so that we stay clean and healthy inside. 02:11 Our skins are tough enough to last the lifetime, 02:14 yet sensitive enough 02:16 that we can feel the slightest touch. 02:18 We never have to replace our skins 02:21 and they are waterproof. 02:22 Just think what trouble we would be in, 02:24 if we got soaked through every time we took a shower. 02:27 I think God enjoyed making our skin, 02:30 skin different, and different colors and complexions. 02:33 Some of us have dark skin and some light. 02:36 Some skin is brown and some is pink, 02:39 some of us have freckles and some of us don't. 02:42 But we all like looking at each other 02:44 and enjoying the differences in the way that we look. 02:47 Now Ranger Jim has something very interesting 02:50 to share with you. 02:57 Hi boys and girls, I am excited today. 02:59 We have a beautiful vulture with us 03:01 and we have my friend, Beverly, 03:02 here to talk about. 03:03 How old is this bird, Beverly? 03:05 He is 5 years old. 03:06 I see, did he come to you as a baby or was he injured? 03:10 We got him as a half grown baby chick. 03:12 He had obviously been hand raised by someone, 03:15 so he is a human imprint 03:16 and cannot be released back into the wild. 03:18 Oh, I see, then you will keep him 03:19 the rest of his life here? Exactly. 03:21 He will be safe here and you will care for him? 03:24 That's right. Okay. 03:25 Now how, how old would this bird live, 03:27 how long would he live? 03:28 In captivity these guys can live anywhere 03:31 between 10 and 20 years, 03:32 but in the wild, it's usually 10 to 15. I see. 03:36 Is this animal capable of reproducing 03:38 if you have another buzzard of this kind, 03:40 a vulture of this kind? 03:41 It's possible, but many times in a captive environment 03:45 they don't necessarily reproduce. 03:47 Oh, I see, and this guy eats dead animals, is that right? 03:50 That's correct, that's his main diet. 03:52 Oh, I see, and can you see God's plan in that? 03:55 Well, as a scavenger, eating carrion, 03:59 he is Mother Nature's clean up crew. Oh, I see. 04:01 He takes care of all the things out there 04:03 that would not just disappear on their own. 04:06 I see, so he feeds on that and enjoys that, right? 04:09 That's correct. That's his favorite food. 04:11 How does he locate these animals that have died? 04:14 Well, he has a unique method. 04:17 Although he has got decent eye sight, 04:19 his primary method of locating them is by smell. 04:22 You can perhaps see the large nostril that he has. 04:26 These animals will smell their food 04:29 from a great distance, 04:31 especially when the air currents 04:32 bring that smell up to them in the air. 04:34 The reason for that is that many times 04:37 the food they would find would be deep in the woods, 04:39 there would be leftovers from another animal 04:42 and he would not be able to see through the leaf cover, 04:44 but he would be able to smell-- 04:46 I see, I see and so that's why we see them 04:48 soaring on the thermals higher and higher, 04:50 around and round. That's right. 04:52 And so as he climbs higher, 04:54 he is looking and trying to locate. 04:56 He locates by sight and then when he gets closer, 04:58 it locates it with scent, is that correct? 05:00 Correct. I see. 05:02 Well, this is the only bird of this kind that you have? 05:05 At this time, this is the only vulture 05:06 we have, yes. 05:08 Well, now tell me about the buzzards that I see, 05:10 the vultures that I see in Florida, 05:11 they are black headed and about half, 05:13 two-third his size. 05:14 What do we call those? 05:15 Those are black vultures. I see. 05:17 In the United States, we only have 05:19 the two types of vultures. 05:21 The black vulture is a more Southern bird. 05:24 The turkey vulture can be found 05:25 across the whole United States. 05:27 Oh, I see. 05:28 What about the large bird we see in California? 05:30 The Big Condors, what about those? 05:32 Well, that is a larger relative to the same family. 05:34 The California Condor has 05:37 many of the same habits and attributes. 05:41 I see, I was reading an article 05:42 recently about this bird, 05:44 and I was astounded to learn that 05:46 when this bird relieves himself 05:48 that it runs down on his feet and his legs 05:50 and is beneficial to him, is this true? 05:53 That's correct, there is a couple of different things, 05:55 that does help cool him first of all, 05:57 but the other reason is that 05:59 it does contain certain chemicals 06:02 antibodies that help because the debris 06:08 that he is stepping in and the stuff 06:10 that he is stepping in when he is feeding on 06:12 these carcasses can be pretty germ filled 06:14 and it helps keep him healthy. I see. 06:17 It must be, that was God's plan, right? 06:19 Absolutely! God said all the things 06:21 that He made even the vulture was very good. That's right. 06:24 It's just marvelous to see and these creatures, 06:25 I tell boys and girls all the time, 06:27 I can hardly wait to get to heaven 06:28 and have Jesus go about and tell us 06:30 how they created these things 06:31 and how he ever came up with such an idea. 06:34 They all have a plan, they sure do. 06:36 They all work together and this guy's job 06:38 is going about clearing 06:40 and cleaning up all the dead bodies, 06:41 he works with the opossum, right? 06:43 That's right, another scavenger-- 06:45 They are part of the graveyard crew. 06:46 That's right. 06:47 I see and I understand even the opossum, 06:49 some people even think they're for food. 06:52 Some people do, I am not sure that I would find that. 06:55 I am not sure they are either. 06:56 And you can see boys and girls, 06:58 have you viewed the vulture here. 07:00 There is another mechanism. I would ask you about that. 07:02 What does the vulture do quite often 07:04 when you pick him up or you frighten him? 07:06 If he is disturbed, they are frightened, 07:09 his defense mechanism is to throw up on you. 07:11 I see, that's nice. 07:13 Well, it has a very beneficial aspect, 07:18 because it does keep predators at bay. 07:21 If the food that he has eaten 07:22 doesn't smell very good the first time around, 07:24 it's going to be really bad the second time around. 07:27 All right and so these creatures, 07:28 then they primarily feed on road kill, is that true? 07:32 Today unfortunately these scavengers are 07:35 one of the few animals that are benefiting 07:37 from man's technology, 07:38 because we are providing food for them 07:39 on a daily basis on our highways. 07:42 I see, I can remember as a boy 07:43 when we had many farm animals 07:44 and we had deaths of farm animals 07:46 and what have you, we'd drag them out in the back 07:48 and then the vultures would come 07:49 and clean them up and polish the bones even. 07:52 Absolutely, pick the bones clean. 07:54 Just cleaned them up like that. 07:55 Well, it's another demonstration boys and girls, 07:57 of how Jesus created all these creatures 08:01 and He made them self perfect. 08:02 What a wonderful day it will be for us 08:04 to be there and see 08:05 and learn all these wonderful things that He did. 08:08 I would like to suggest you today 08:10 that Jesus did all these things because of love. 08:13 And He loves you and He loves me. 08:15 Have you ever told Jesus you love Him? 08:17 I would like to encourage you to do this. 08:19 I always do for boys and girls 08:20 when I have a week of prayer. 08:22 Don't forget to tell Jesus you love Him, 08:24 okay, because He really does love you. 08:34 Hello boys and girls, 08:35 the wise man built his house upon the rock, 08:38 but who is the rock? 08:40 My friend Andrew found that answer in the Bible. 08:43 "The Lord is my rock and my fortress 08:45 and my deliverer." Second Samuel 22:2. 08:49 So Jesus is our rock, that's where we need to build. 08:57 The wise man built his house upon the rock 09:01 The wise man built his house upon the rock 09:05 The wise man built his house upon the rock 09:08 And the rain came tumbling down 09:12 Oh, the rains came down And the floods came up 09:16 The rains came down And the floods came up 09:20 The rains came down And the floods came up 09:23 And the house on the rock stood firm. 09:27 And the foolish man built his house upon the sand 09:31 The foolish man built his house upon the sand 09:34 The foolish man built his house upon the sand 09:38 And the rains came tumbling down 09:42 Oh, the rains came down And the floods came up 09:46 The rains came down And the floods came up 09:49 The rains came down And the floods came up 09:52 And the house on the sand went splat 09:59 The house and the sand felt flat, 10:02 I think we need to build our houses on the rock. 10:11 Hi, if you want to know what we're cooking today. 10:13 Catie, why don't you tell them? 10:15 We are making lasagna. 10:44 Okay Judy, why don't we get started? 10:46 Okay, we are gonna start with a little sauce 10:48 in the bottom of the pan. 10:50 Just so the noodles don't burn. 10:53 So you spread a little, a thin layer out on the bottom. 10:59 I have tomato sauce. 11:04 There we go, think that's good. 11:08 Yeah, we gonna put our noodles on. 11:10 Okay, spread our noodles over here. 11:14 Okay, you gonna put too down in there. 11:17 You can overlap. And two here. Again, you can overlap. 11:29 And then we've already-- Well, we're gonna, 11:32 we've already broke enough noodle for you, 11:35 so that we can stick in the cracks, 11:37 so we're not waste any. 11:40 We don't have any cracks here. Okay. 11:48 And now we're gonna put, now we gonna make--mix, 11:52 you know, mixes Tofu. 11:54 Okay, we are gonna take our package 11:56 of Mori-Nu firm Tofu, 11:58 get into this bowl. Okay. 12:06 And the Mori-Nu Tofu is very good for you, 12:09 it taste really good. 12:11 Now the Tofutti Better, and we're gonna add 12:12 our better than cream cheese. 12:14 It's a very good substitute for cream cheese 12:17 and it taste just like it, it's really good. Okay. 12:24 Okay, and then, Judy, why don't you put up 12:27 bread crumbs in, our seasoned bread crumbs. 12:31 Okay, let's dump it right in on top. 12:35 This is the box with the Tofu. 12:38 This is firm Mori-Nu Tofu, it's really good. 12:44 And we gonna mix this up. 12:47 And, Judy, why don't you tell them 12:48 about the cream cheese. 12:51 The cream cheese is a great alternative, 12:53 it's made with soybeans and it's also very tasty, 12:57 tastes really good and-- 12:59 Taste just like regular cream cheese. It really good. 13:03 What also neat about this recipe is the noodles. 13:06 You don't have to boil them first 13:08 and this is what the box looks like. 13:12 You just stick them in your pan 13:13 and stick them in the oven 13:14 and you don't have to boil or anything, 13:16 it's really neat. 13:17 So it's really cool about this recipe. 13:21 It's already looking good. Umm! Smells good too. 13:30 You want to help me stir, Judy. 13:37 Okay, make sure you mix it up really good. 13:46 It looks like, it's pretty much mixed up, okay. 13:52 Okay, now after you-- have noodles done like we have. 13:56 We're gonna dump some of this mixture on, half of it. 14:01 You can hold the bowl for me? I think that's enough. 14:16 Okay, let's spread this around, you will help me. 14:21 Careful not to move your noodles 14:22 around too much. Yeah. 14:25 Because they will slide all over the place. 14:28 You don't want that to happen. 14:31 So just spread this mixture evenly around in your pan 14:34 just like you did with your sauce. 14:38 Okay, and again you don't move your noodles. 14:49 We need a little bit more. 14:56 Okay, there we go, almost done. 15:01 Almost done on your side, Judy. Almost. 15:07 Umm! It smells so good. 15:11 Sure it tastes as good as it smell in box. 15:15 I think we need a bit more over here. 15:19 Well, better not use too much. 15:20 We don't have enough for the next layer. 15:29 Okay, that looks good. 15:34 Okay, once you get that all spread 15:35 evenly around in your pan. 15:37 You add your cheese, your veggie cheese. 15:42 This is, I think really good cheese it taste, 15:44 its mozzarella veggie slice. 15:47 It's a really good alternative for cheese 15:50 and it also it really tastes good. 15:53 We really like it, especially on this lasagna. 15:58 Sprinkle that around and if you would like too, 16:01 you can also sprinkles 16:02 a little bit of garlic powder, don't use too much-- 16:05 or else you get a too strong of the flavor. 16:10 But we have chosen not to do that, 16:11 because we just not to. 16:15 Okay, thanks, yeah, that's enough cheese. 16:17 Okay, next after cheese, 16:20 we are gonna put some more noodles on. 16:22 Okay, so I am chipping those noodles over here. 16:25 We're going to do the same thing, 16:27 just put overlap them, stick them up 16:28 against the sides and overlap them. Okay. 16:37 Okay, I am gonna break this one up, 16:38 so we've room on the sides, Okay, you want to do some? 16:50 You put that in and we're finished with that. 16:55 We are going to stick in more sauce. 16:59 And after you put the sauce, 17:00 remember don't move the noodles around again, 17:02 because it just not good. 17:11 We always here do the sauce, and there is a cream cheese 17:13 and they are mixed tofu mixtures in it, Judy, Yeah. 17:17 Because of cream cheese. It is over. 17:22 It is easier just to move around 17:24 without moving your noodles. If you like a lot of sauce, 17:28 you can be generous with your sauce 17:29 or if you don't like them much, 17:30 you don't have to. Put as much as you like-- 17:33 That looks, that looks enough to me, 17:34 what do you think. 17:36 All right, when you are dumping the sauce. 17:39 Then we add the rest of our tofu mixture. 17:42 Just keep in pan like I told you 17:43 and even with the cheese. 17:46 Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. 17:50 Judy, why don't you show them 17:51 the finished product looks like. 17:52 We sliced out a piece for you, 17:54 it looks very yummy, can't wait to try it. 17:56 Can't wait to bite into that thing. 17:59 Umm! Umm! Well, until next time, 18:02 keep cooking and eat healthy. 18:10 Mommy! Mommy! There you are, I have been 18:13 worried about you all day. Mommy, guess what? What? 18:18 There were a whole bunch of people 18:21 that went to go listen to Jesus. 18:23 A whole bunch? 18:24 Yes, there is a lot, there are 5000 men, 18:29 not counting the moms and children. 18:33 They took their mothers and the children? 18:36 Yes, it is so amazing. 18:38 There are just a lot of people, 18:40 there is like, it look like rows and rows of people, 18:43 its just like rows of people, they are so neat. 18:47 Wow! They all came to listen to Jesus. 18:51 It is so wonderful. 18:52 And you listen to Jesus all this time 18:54 since you left this morning? 18:56 Yes, and people didn't want to leave. 18:58 They want to stay there. 19:00 They didn't want to leave to go eat. 19:01 They stayed there to listen to Jesus. 19:06 So Jesus started getting hungry too. 19:08 And one of the disciples came up to me, 19:11 it was Andrew who came up to me 19:13 and asked if I could, would give my lunch to Jesus? 19:16 And I said sure, I wouldn't care 19:18 if I went hungry for the rest of the day, 19:20 it would be okay, and so I gave my lunch to Jesus. 19:23 You gave your five barley loaves 19:25 and your two small fishes away. 19:28 Yes, it was so nice, I gave it to Jesus. 19:31 And then He grabbed my lunch and He blessed it. 19:34 He blessed it. 19:35 What do you mean He blessed it? 19:37 He prayed for it. 19:38 He prayed for it? Yes, He is nice. 19:42 He took my lunch and He prayed. 19:45 And then what happened? 19:47 And then He told us 19:48 to get in groups of 50 through a 100. 19:52 We were all kind of wondering, why? 19:54 And then He took our lunch and He took some bread 19:57 and He broke it, then He put it in a basket. 19:59 And it just keep going and going 20:02 and then there were a whole bunch of baskets of food 20:05 and the disciples went out 20:07 and fed the people with only that multiplied 20:10 from five barley loaves, two fish enough to feed 20:14 thousands and thousands of people. 20:16 You are telling me, He took your lunch 20:19 and He fed thousands and thousands of people. 20:22 Yes. That is a miracle. 20:25 And then there is even more, 20:27 they went around with baskets, 20:29 empty baskets and picked up the leftovers 20:32 and there were twelve big baskets of leftovers-- 20:35 Twelve? Yes. 20:37 The type of baskets that you see in the market, 20:39 those big baskets. 20:41 What did they do with that? 20:42 They let people take grab some 20:44 and take some home for their family 20:46 and I brought some home for you. Thank you. 20:50 Do you know what this bread means? 20:53 This is the word of God 20:55 and when Jesus gave this bread 20:56 to everyone to take home, 20:58 it meant that He wanted them 21:00 to spread the word of God. 21:02 And, you know, we could learn a lesson from this. 21:05 When we give Jesus our talents and our gifts, 21:08 He takes them, He multiplies them 21:12 and He blesses them. 21:24 That little boy was so excited 21:26 that he was the one who got to share 21:28 his lunch with Jesus. 21:29 His food was blessed in a special way, wasn't it? 21:32 Do you ask Jesus to bless your food before you eat? 21:35 It makes Jesus happy, 21:37 when you remember to thank Him. 21:39 I've got a poem here, 21:40 I'd like to share with you today. 21:41 It was written by Nixon Waterman. 21:44 This is what it says. It seems to me I'd like to go 21:47 Where bells don't ring, nor whistles blow 21:50 Nor clocks don't strike, nor gongs sound 21:53 And I'd have stillness all around 21:55 Not real stillness, but just the trees 21:58 Low whispering, or the hum of bees 22:00 Or brooks faint babbling over stones 22:03 In strangely, softly tangled tones 22:06 Or maybe a cricket or katydid 22:08 Or the songs of birds in the hedges hid 22:11 Or just some such sweet sound as these 22:14 To fill a tired heart with ease 22:17 If 't weren't for sight and sound and smell 22:19 I'd like the city pretty well 22:21 But when it comes to getting rest 22:23 I like the country lots the best 22:26 Sometimes it seems to me I must 22:28 Just quit the city's din and dust 22:30 And get out where the sky is blue 22:33 And say, now, how does that seem to you? 22:36 How does that poem make you feel? 22:38 It makes me feel like taking a long walk in the wood, 22:41 or listening to the birds chirp, 22:43 or may be I'm watching the squirrel's scamper around, 22:46 or just looking up at the blue sky 22:48 and all those wonderful fluffy clouds. 22:51 I think the poet is saying that 22:52 there is something special about having some quiet time, 22:56 just to enjoy God's wonderful world. 22:59 You know, nature is 23:00 such a special part of God's gift to us, isn't it? 23:04 Well, let's go to our mail box right now 23:07 and see if there is any letters from you. 23:09 I have been enjoying all the letters 23:10 that you have been sending boys and girls. 23:13 Oh, and I do have some more letters today, 23:16 quite a few of them today.
