It does taste so good. 00:00:43.63\00:00:47.57 Perhaps you think I am going to tell you 00:00:47.58\00:00:49.20 how important it is to drink water. 00:00:49.21\00:00:51.38 And it is true that you need at least 00:00:51.39\00:00:52.89 eight glasses a day in order to stay healthy, 00:00:52.90\00:00:55.63 but that's not what I want to tell you. 00:00:55.64\00:00:57.49 Today, I want to share a story 00:00:57.50\00:00:59.09 about a little girl named Ruthie, 00:00:59.10\00:01:01.36 who had too much water, 00:01:01.37\00:01:03.52 that's right, too much water. 00:01:03.53\00:01:06.15 Ruthie was playing with her friend Beverley near lake. 00:01:06.16\00:01:08.93 And so she decided that it would be great 00:01:08.94\00:01:10.77 fun to jump off a barrel 00:01:10.78\00:01:12.69 that was near the shore into the water. 00:01:12.70\00:01:15.64 Watch me, she yelled. 00:01:15.65\00:01:17.29 And before Beverley could blink 00:01:17.30\00:01:18.89 Ruthie, had climbed up into the barrel 00:01:18.90\00:01:21.08 and given a mighty leap into the deeper part of the lake. 00:01:21.09\00:01:25.00 Now Ruthie could not swim and she could dog paddle 00:01:25.01\00:01:28.60 a little and she thought that would be good enough 00:01:28.61\00:01:30.36 to get her back to the shallow water, but it wasn't. 00:01:30.37\00:01:34.40 Suddenly she was trashing in the water 00:01:34.41\00:01:36.40 and she was going no where. 00:01:36.41\00:01:38.40 She started to swallow the lake. 00:01:38.41\00:01:41.97 She saw Beverley staring at her with wide frightened eyes, 00:01:41.98\00:01:45.53 are you drowning she screamed. 00:01:45.54\00:01:47.92 Then a strong arm grabbed her and a muscular young man 00:01:47.93\00:01:51.94 hold her out of the cold green water and up on to shore. 00:01:51.95\00:01:56.63 Oh, how thankful, Ruthie, was for that kind Samaritan. 00:01:56.64\00:02:01.80 Now I have a question to ask you, 00:02:01.81\00:02:04.06 was the water bad? Was the lake an enemy? 00:02:04.07\00:02:07.54 And the answer is no. 00:02:07.55\00:02:09.44 Water is good and lakes are wonderful, 00:02:09.45\00:02:12.39 but too much of something even something good can be harmful. 00:02:12.40\00:02:16.66 If Ruthie had swallowed much more water, 00:02:16.67\00:02:19.08 she would have drowned. 00:02:19.09\00:02:20.68 The Bible tells us to be temperate in all things, 00:02:20.69\00:02:24.12 that means don't over do even the good things 00:02:24.13\00:02:26.88 and stay away from the bad things. 00:02:26.89\00:02:29.53 Now today Ranger Jim, is talking turkey. 00:02:29.54\00:02:34.38 Hi boys and girls, Ranger Jim here again today. 00:02:41.07\00:02:43.51 We have some of the interesting creatures 00:02:43.52\00:02:45.34 for you to see and learn about today. 00:02:45.35\00:02:47.36 In fact, we have several that you will see 00:02:47.37\00:02:49.50 in the background, but we are talking 00:02:49.51\00:02:50.78 about the turkey today. 00:02:50.79\00:02:52.54 And perhaps you know that Thanksgiving Day in America, 00:02:52.55\00:02:56.58 is some time called Turkey Day. 00:02:56.59\00:02:58.55 Well, there are many of us that don't observe that 00:02:58.56\00:03:00.85 in that way that we respond by going out 00:03:00.86\00:03:04.17 and killing the turkey to eat. 00:03:04.18\00:03:06.12 We find other things that are better 00:03:06.13\00:03:07.52 for us to eat that we enjoy, 00:03:07.53\00:03:08.89 but we have many friends who do and that's okay. 00:03:08.90\00:03:11.23 And perhaps some day we can give them some information, 00:03:11.24\00:03:14.69 it will help them in their diet to reform 00:03:14.70\00:03:17.50 and find better things to eat and then it won't cost 00:03:17.51\00:03:20.64 the life of our friends, the turkeys. 00:03:20.65\00:03:23.26 Now the turkeys, many times are referred to 00:03:23.27\00:03:25.81 as perhaps the ugliest creature that God ever made. 00:03:25.82\00:03:29.16 Well, I think they're beautiful. 00:03:29.17\00:03:30.48 Fact is when they all time displays 00:03:30.49\00:03:32.90 and puffs his feathers all out, 00:03:32.91\00:03:34.57 that they stick out and he vibrates them, 00:03:34.58\00:03:37.05 he is truly a beautiful creature. 00:03:37.06\00:03:39.17 Now the part that you see hanging down around his neck 00:03:39.18\00:03:42.46 we call those wattles, okay? 00:03:42.47\00:03:44.95 And so they hang down and then he has a very fleshy thing 00:03:44.96\00:03:48.73 that hangs down all from the top of his bill, 00:03:48.74\00:03:51.24 that seems to getting his way of eating, 00:03:51.25\00:03:53.19 this is called a snozzle, isn't that interesting? 00:03:53.20\00:03:56.53 Wattles and a snozzle, but when he gets his feathers 00:03:56.54\00:03:59.53 all puffed up and he starts stomping the ground 00:03:59.54\00:04:01.99 to impress the female, 00:04:02.00\00:04:03.50 he truly is a beautiful creature. 00:04:03.51\00:04:05.40 Now the hens they go around and they usually ignore him. 00:04:05.41\00:04:08.49 They say, ah, you are not nearly as beautiful 00:04:08.50\00:04:10.47 as you think, I think you are ugly, 00:04:10.48\00:04:12.32 but he continues to do that. 00:04:12.33\00:04:13.99 He comes up whenever they are there, 00:04:14.00\00:04:15.41 he begins to puff out his feathers. 00:04:15.42\00:04:17.39 When one turkey begins to gobble, 00:04:17.40\00:04:19.29 all the other gobblers in the area gobble, okay. 00:04:19.30\00:04:22.31 So it gets to be like the roosters, 00:04:22.32\00:04:24.26 one rooster claims I am the most beautiful rooster here 00:04:24.27\00:04:26.72 on this farm and all the others say, 00:04:26.73\00:04:28.44 oh no you are not I am, listen to this call. 00:04:28.45\00:04:30.85 And that's the way the gobblers are, 00:04:30.86\00:04:32.11 they gobble, and they gobble, and they gobble. 00:04:32.12\00:04:34.36 And out in the wild we have many wild turkey in America. 00:04:34.37\00:04:37.12 They in fact we have more wild turkey in America today 00:04:37.13\00:04:39.89 then we've ever had before, 00:04:39.90\00:04:41.56 because of our wise management of them, okay. 00:04:41.57\00:04:45.13 And you can go out into the woods 00:04:45.14\00:04:47.41 where there are many wild turkeys 00:04:47.42\00:04:48.96 just before a thunder storm and it's amazing. 00:04:48.97\00:04:51.50 Any loud sound will cause turkeys, 00:04:51.51\00:04:54.05 wild turkeys to gobble. 00:04:54.06\00:04:55.77 Any old male kind will challenge any loud sound 00:04:55.78\00:04:58.93 and when you have a sudden clap of thunder, 00:04:58.94\00:05:01.06 you can hear gobblers all over the woods. 00:05:01.07\00:05:03.13 Oh that wasn't the turkey gobble that you heard, okay. 00:05:03.14\00:05:06.12 That was the peacock near by that was calling 00:05:06.13\00:05:08.17 and he claims he is the most beautiful. 00:05:08.18\00:05:09.93 But in the woods when it thunders 00:05:09.94\00:05:11.49 all of the time gobblers will gobble, gobble, gobble. 00:05:11.50\00:05:14.25 At night if a Barred Owl goes huuhh! huuhh! huuhh! huuhh! Ah 00:05:14.26\00:05:17.71 all the gobblers begin to sound off, 00:05:17.72\00:05:19.78 and it gobble, gobble, gobble, 00:05:19.79\00:05:20.80 gobble, gobble, gobble, everywhere. 00:05:20.81\00:05:22.42 But sooner or later if he continues to display 00:05:22.43\00:05:25.67 and show how beautiful he is, 00:05:25.68\00:05:27.42 one of the beautiful young hens 00:05:27.43\00:05:28.76 looks at him and says "oh, 00:05:28.77\00:05:30.34 he is sort of a nice looking fellow" 00:05:30.35\00:05:32.99 and so that encourages him, so he continues on gobbling 00:05:33.00\00:05:36.38 what have you, and trying to impress her. 00:05:36.39\00:05:38.61 This usually takes place about the third year 00:05:38.62\00:05:41.37 when he is fully feathered and then he becomes mature 00:05:41.38\00:05:44.37 to mate, all right. 00:05:44.38\00:05:45.97 And so then the hen when she finally is receptive, 00:05:45.98\00:05:49.61 she does mate with the gobbler 00:05:49.62\00:05:51.64 and though then she is ready to lay her eggs. 00:05:51.65\00:05:54.17 Now, turkeys as some other birds 00:05:54.18\00:05:56.63 peacock and other birds have a very interesting 00:05:56.64\00:05:59.81 defense mechanism for their nest. 00:05:59.82\00:06:01.71 She will go out and randomly lay an egg 00:06:01.72\00:06:03.64 in a very obvious place and then she comes back 00:06:03.65\00:06:06.52 and check to make sure that the raccoon hasn't found it, 00:06:06.53\00:06:08.98 or nothing has bothered that 00:06:08.99\00:06:10.86 and when she find such an area, 00:06:10.87\00:06:12.79 then that's a safe place to build her nest. 00:06:12.80\00:06:15.02 Now she comes back the day after she left the egg there 00:06:15.03\00:06:17.34 and a raccoon got it, 00:06:17.35\00:06:18.55 she is not going to build a nest near there, right? 00:06:18.56\00:06:20.94 She is wiser than that, 00:06:20.95\00:06:22.24 so she finds a more secluded area. 00:06:22.25\00:06:24.72 And you just heard over my shoulder, 00:06:24.73\00:06:26.37 a gobbler that was gobbling 00:06:26.38\00:06:27.67 and saying he was the most beautiful one in the world, 00:06:27.68\00:06:30.16 all right, after the hen has established the nest 00:06:30.17\00:06:34.38 usually under a logger and heap shed, 00:06:34.39\00:06:37.17 well hidden and well camouflage, 00:06:37.18\00:06:38.98 she begins to lay eggs and she may lay a clutch, 00:06:38.99\00:06:41.40 we call it a clutch of eggs, that may have 15, 00:06:41.41\00:06:44.92 18 or 20 all right. 00:06:44.93\00:06:46.81 And she is an excellent mother. 00:06:46.82\00:06:48.55 She cares for them very careful and when they hatch. 00:06:48.56\00:06:51.54 Many people say that she's as good a mother 00:06:51.55\00:06:53.35 as is a banty hen. 00:06:53.36\00:06:55.12 You've seen the little banty hens, 00:06:55.13\00:06:56.37 it had tiny little babies, may be hatch 15 or 20 00:06:56.38\00:06:59.28 and raise 90 percent of them and that's the way 00:06:59.29\00:07:01.55 with the hen turkey and so she rears them up. 00:07:01.56\00:07:04.24 And by the second day when they're dry, 00:07:04.25\00:07:05.82 they are able to travel with her mother 00:07:05.83\00:07:07.38 and they go across the field looking for grasshoppers 00:07:07.39\00:07:09.56 and crickets and other delicious foods, right? 00:07:09.57\00:07:12.19 We think it's yucky, but the turkeys love it, 00:07:12.20\00:07:14.48 they eat blueberries, they eat blackberries, 00:07:14.49\00:07:16.78 wild grapes, things of that nature. 00:07:16.79\00:07:19.24 And so this is the story of the turkey. 00:07:19.25\00:07:21.57 And once again boys and girls, 00:07:21.58\00:07:22.82 we find with the turkey as with every creature 00:07:22.83\00:07:25.35 that God made. 00:07:25.36\00:07:26.60 We see His love and His great creative ability. 00:07:26.61\00:07:30.20 Isn't that a wonderful thing to study this things 00:07:30.21\00:07:32.02 that God made for us to see and enjoy, 00:07:32.03\00:07:34.45 so just on queue the turkey signed off for us, 00:07:34.46\00:07:37.42 but I will close by saying, 00:07:37.43\00:07:39.38 this is Ranger Jim as always saying, 00:07:39.39\00:07:41.67 don't forget to tell Jesus that you love Him, 00:07:41.68\00:07:44.44 because He really does love you. 00:07:44.45\00:07:49.45 Hello boys and girls, 00:07:53.84\00:07:55.26 the Bible has a lot of good news for us. 00:07:55.27\00:07:58.09 Revelation 22, verse 20 tells us about Jesus coming. 00:07:58.10\00:08:01.83 Andrews can you say that verse for us, please? He knew everything about me. 00:17:56.85\00:18:00.95 He knows everything that I have ever done 00:18:00.96\00:18:03.76 in my whole life and He still loved me, 00:18:03.77\00:18:07.59 I could tell that, I could feel it in His voice. 00:18:07.60\00:18:10.66 He told me that if I would drink this living water 00:18:10.67\00:18:15.28 that it would change me, and you know what? 00:18:15.29\00:18:18.83 It did because the more He talked, 00:18:18.84\00:18:20.87 I realized that I hadn't been a very good person, 00:18:20.88\00:18:24.03 I was ashamed of the bad things that I've done. 00:18:24.04\00:18:27.14 And I didn't wanted to do those things 00:18:27.15\00:18:28.68 remember last week when I told you 00:18:28.69\00:18:30.44 how I'd cheated the merchant. 00:18:30.45\00:18:32.41 I felt bad about that, 00:18:32.42\00:18:33.99 I didn't feel bad about it last week, 00:18:34.00\00:18:35.97 but I realized it was wrong. 00:18:35.98\00:18:38.43 And I realized here was somebody 00:18:38.44\00:18:40.17 that was giving me something better, 00:18:40.18\00:18:42.07 I wanted something better. 00:18:42.08\00:18:44.23 He said He would give it to me and He did. 00:18:44.24\00:18:47.76 And I was so excited that I just had to come 00:18:47.77\00:18:51.48 and I had to tell everyone and I wanted to find you, 00:18:51.49\00:18:53.68 because I knew you would want this living water too. 00:18:53.69\00:18:56.63 Well, you know, come to think about it, 00:18:56.64\00:18:59.40 you do look different, you look changed. 00:18:59.41\00:19:04.13 Oh, my goodness, do you think He would give me 00:19:04.14\00:19:07.10 some of this living water? I know He would love too. 00:19:07.11\00:19:11.01 He will make you happy just like He has made me. 00:19:11.02\00:19:13.68 And I haven't been this happy, I've never been this happy. 00:19:13.69\00:19:17.25 I have never seen you look like this before. 00:19:17.26\00:19:20.39 Do you think He is still there? 00:19:20.40\00:19:22.36 He is always there for us, come, come to the well, 00:19:22.37\00:19:25.52 I know He will be glad to help you. 00:19:25.53\00:19:27.77 Take me, forget the laundry. Come on. 00:19:27.78\00:19:30.16 Let's go see Jesus. Yes. 00:19:30.17\00:19:32.41 The woman in our Bible story 00:19:39.54\00:19:40.73 today shared Jesus, didn't she? 00:19:40.74\00:19:42.84 She was so excited about Jesus that she couldn't keep still. 00:19:42.85\00:19:46.51 She ran around all her neighbors 00:19:46.52\00:19:48.35 and told them about Jesus. 00:19:48.36\00:19:50.36 It didn't matter to her who they were. 00:19:50.37\00:19:52.41 Some of her neighbors didn't like her 00:19:52.42\00:19:54.29 and had been mean to her. 00:19:54.30\00:19:55.84 But she shared with Jesus with them just the same. 00:19:55.85\00:19:58.81 That's what happens when we meet Jesus. 00:19:58.82\00:20:01.09 We feel His love for us and it just fills up our hearts 00:20:01.10\00:20:04.06 and overflows and then we are so full of love 00:20:04.07\00:20:07.01 that we can't have that feelings toward anyone else, 00:20:07.02\00:20:09.64 even if they have done bad things to us. 00:20:09.65\00:20:12.33 But sometimes if we don't talk with Jesus everyday 00:20:12.34\00:20:15.70 or when we forget to pray, 00:20:15.71\00:20:17.46 when we let other things fill our mind, 00:20:17.47\00:20:19.41 so that there is no room for Jesus 00:20:19.42\00:20:21.29 even if it's for a little while, 00:20:21.30\00:20:23.10 we find it hard to share. 00:20:23.11\00:20:25.33 And we find it hard to love and to be kind 00:20:25.34\00:20:27.96 especially to people who haven't been very nice to us. 00:20:27.97\00:20:32.09 You know, Jonnie have that problem, 00:20:32.10\00:20:34.48 you know, the other girls at school 00:20:34.49\00:20:36.55 they decided they didn't wanted to be friends 00:20:36.56\00:20:38.13 with her anymore 00:20:38.14\00:20:39.27 and they wouldn't speak to her or play with her. 00:20:39.28\00:20:42.47 In fact, they even stuck their tongues out at her, 00:20:42.48\00:20:44.70 isn't that awful? 00:20:44.71\00:20:46.72 And they whispered about her behind her back 00:20:46.73\00:20:49.32 and to her other friends. 00:20:49.33\00:20:51.18 You know, Jonnie was really sad. 00:20:51.19\00:20:53.68 What had she done to make these girls so mean to her? 00:20:53.69\00:20:57.12 At first, she cried a lot 00:20:57.13\00:20:59.47 and after while she said to herself, 00:20:59.48\00:21:01.74 well, if they are going to be mean to me, 00:21:01.75\00:21:04.48 I will just be mean right back to them and she was. 00:21:04.49\00:21:08.52 She stole one girl's homework from her book 00:21:08.53\00:21:11.31 and ripped it up and threw it away. 00:21:11.32\00:21:13.68 That wasn't very nice, was it?
