they're not really missionaries,

They speak a different language,

different way of life,

so many things are different.

even read and write.

Most of them live
just barely hand to mouth.

It's just a bare survival

But we're gonna meet some

bring the gospel to a people

that are bound in superstition,
fear, and darkness.

to the farthest village,

that needed a teacher.

So this meant that I had to
leave the last village I was in.

I was pulled
out and placed here,

and I ended up

The effect of not

- What you see with the Mangyans

is that when they have no money

sick and about to die,

There is no healthcare for them.

It is painful to
see this situation.

So my thoughts were
that maybe this is the reason

that the Lord
brought us here to Landing.

I suggested to my wife, "Let's
request to be assigned there,

no missionary there,

"and they are requesting
a missionary to teach them."

At first I wondered,

"What was the reason
the Lord placed me here

"and how he wanted to use me,

"and how I can
prosper with the Lord

"and grow closer to him."

Then I saw they
had a great need,

especially in
medical situations.

Yearly, there are sicknesses

that come to this
village from children to adults.

Many die.

They say that when that
time comes, they just leave.

- From the month of
November, December to January,

almost all the
Mangyan villages have deaths.

This year around that
time of illness and disease,

This is the difference
that the missionary work

of this family made there.

other Mangyan families

had a change of heart

when they saw how
the missionaries helped

and benefited the
village of Landing.

They would say,

missionaries in your village."

- The Lord used their presence

and the little knowledge
we shared with the Bartalis.

This is why the
other villages noticed

and spread the
word that at Landing,

no one was dying during
the yearly time of sickness.

Then they even started
bringing the sick people

from the other
villages to Landing.

Even if Sister
Maricar and Brother Zaldy

didn't have any
medical training,

the Lord blessed their
efforts to help them get better.

- Though I had no
medical background,

the Lord himself
will give knowledge

and show you what to do with
the patient and what to say.

In my mind, I am thinking how
to help them know about Jesus.

My first duty is to bring
them to a knowledge of God

faith in him and his power

So it seems that God
gave me this mission,

not just for me, but
for others to be blessed.

inspired by what I read,

And so this is why in

it's so important
to fund missionaries

to go into the
dark areas of the world.

And this is another reason
why we have our Bible workers

based on stipends instead
of tent making in most areas.

There's a few
areas where they can.

But most of the
areas it's like this.

Now, some situations
the only way to gain access

very few believers.

When I saw that they
really needed more knowledge

here, I said to the Lord,
